Lack of appetite seems to be a common theme around here then. I ate like a horse while I was in hospital and for the first few days home, but lately I hardly eat anything (but I can still fit the choccie in ;) )
Noni, Asha is doing so well! Alister has days where he is really spewy too.
Ahhh Arte, a kindred shoe spirit LOL. I wear my shoes to death too. I love the DF supersoft ones as they fit my feet perfectly. I have been buying them since they came out and I don't know what I'd do if they ever stopped making them. I bet your Mum is equally, if not more excited than you are to be visiting you all. I'm sure Will will (now that was weird LOL) be a good boy.
-
Arte - I was also scared of dropping Noah but he doesnt wiggle around too much and so far it has not felt like he could slip out of my arms. I also wear a mit (like a towelling mit to wash him with) on one hand to wash him and this helps... the physio who told me they love showers said one client of hers made mits by cutting the top off a sock and this helped her to feel more secure and less likely to drop bub! hope that helps - have a great time with your mum as well, i am sure will will be a good boy for you - do you find he sleeps well when you push him in the pram? Noah dozes off pretty quickly when i take him for a walk and only wakes up when ia m walking with him if he is hungry or needs changing. that reminds me, nearly time for me to take him for a walk now...

Been busy in here today girls.
I have been out and about today. It is my birthday so I went and had lunch with my bestie and then bought a playmat for Logan. He has started to reach for his mobile and is always lookinga round I bought a playmat with lights sounds and water. It was only $50 at Kmart.
DH and i have been showering with Logan since we got home, he has only had one bath. DH holds him and I wash him then dress him. He loves the shower and doesnt even mind when DH puts his head in the water.
ele_ven27 Thanks for sharing your story. You have doen an amazing job to get through it and I hope that you never have to go through it again, I hope none of us have to go through it.
Noni I am glad the bleeding has eased up for you, I imagine it was quite scary. My sisters name is Noni and she thinks it is bizzare that i have a baby buddie with the same name.
I too havent had much of an appetite. I eat lunch and some dinner. I drink water all day long though which keeps me full too. Plus I have the odd bit of choccie.
Sherie I have wide feet too and live in thongs all year round. I hate having to get dressed up and put heels on.
Logan is having another HUGE sleep, I think I might wake him shortly as he is overdue for a feed. I think the heat is making him sleepy, plus we got him a swing which he seems to love. I had him weighed today and he has put on another 190g in a week and now weighs 3.9kg. Its so hot here, might get DH to take us to the beach when he gets home.

Hi all -
CHECK THE BELLYBUDDIES THREAD & birth announcements - exciting news from Ella79!!!!! :confetti:
-
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATIE!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the sound of Logans swing, im sure Rory would love one too!
Noni - Hope your appetite comes back soon. I couldnt eat for over a week when I came home from hospital. There was a few days when I only managed to eat an apple. Everyone got really worried about me. Mum & Dwayne wanted me to go to the doctors towards the end. I think it was a combinations of the abs and stressing myself out. I know its hard but please try to eat even if its only small portions :) Happy to hear the bleeding has settled down.
Pregpan - Rory loves the pram too :) He also loves his baths and the car seat but he hates his bassinette damn it! Noah sounds like quite the little sleeper isnt he! Hope your mum gets better too, poor thing not being able to cuddle her grandson.
ele_ven27 - Thank you so much for sharing your story. You mentioned feeling detached as a sign, I think I suffered this during my first week at home. I felt detached from everything. Home just felt like a house and I felt far away from DH too. Feeling wonderful now though :) Im glad you got through your troubles, you sound like a wonderful mother.
Sherie - Awwwwww I wish I could see alisters trick!
Marydean - My infection has cleared up completely thanx. I wish I knew what caused it in the first place. When I was having contractions on the Tuesday night (Rory was born Wed night) the midwife put me in a bath...I think I was 2cm dilated? I had already been in there a good half hour when I noticed the bath hadnt been cleaned! There was black hair and dirt floating around, YUCK. Anyway, I have been wondering if this could of caused an infection???
Went to the shops this afternoon to print some digital photo's. I cant stop taking photo's haha. I also bought up big on bra's too :)
Is it still a big NO NO to let a baby sleep on their belly??
Nights have been interesting lately. Rory seems to be sleeping less now than when I first brought him home. Last night he slept from 9:00 - 11:00 and then say 11:30 - 3:30 and from 3:30 he was quite restless but we managed to sleep on/off until 8:30. He managed to pee on me twice and spew on me once! If he doesnt get his afternoon naps he is SOOOOOOO cranky!
He is asleep at the moment and Im waiting for him to wake up so I can take him for a walk.
Does anyone's Dh's work really long hours??? Dh got home from work at 6:30 om (after leaving at 5:30am) had a quick cuddle, we had dinner, he took the dogs for a walk, he gave Rory a bath, I fed him while Dwayne had a shower and by 9:30Dwayne was fast asleep. Its really upsetting me that Dwayne cant spend the quality time with his son that he wants to....I guess its just the way it is.

Happy Birthday Katie - I hope you have a fabulous day and that the birthday treats have not ended yet! :)
11 - Thanks so much for sharing your PND experiences - I'm sure you have come to know your own inner strength having walked through this before - going to the depths and climbing out again. It sounds like you are an amazing woman and a wonderful mother too. Hehe I will look out for the Wonder Woman undies (my DH already reckons I've got bionic boobs) LOL.
Arte and Sherie - Me too on the shoes!! I *HATE* shoe shopping as I have abnormally long big toes as well as size 9.5 to 10 feet so the shoe shop rarely has my size and when they do at least half of them don't fit on account of my freaky toes!! I also love DF comfies, although I profess a not so secret addiction to wearing sandals and have been known to wear them in high winter (tho you will be relieved to hear, never with socks)!
Leanne you go girrrrrrl with the pressie buying. I'd love a pedicure too but I've got yuckky tinea so need to wait until that's under control first!
Sherie - Well the going out alone is more of a vague idea than a reality LOL, we have the FDC lady who will babysit DD1 and eventually DD2 too as well so somewhere in the future we *might* get out for dinner together...Alister's trick sounds cute as cute!
Pregpan - hope your mum gets better soon! Does the Baby Whisperer go into strict routines etc or are they flexy (I'm not big on strict routines but I've looked at that book in the bookshop a few times and wondered if it's any good).
Noni - I'm sure the eating will settle down soon, maybe just try to have lots of little tempting snacks to keep your tummy moving along nicely?
Renee - I'm sure it wasn't the bath that caused it - more likely general inflammation in the area leading to normal body bugs getting the chance to breed. That's the explanation I was given as presumably the theatre procedures were sterile and it had started to brew before they even took the plastic sticky covering off.
OK the Marydean saga continues - I DISOBEYED the hospy doctors orders to wait a week then see my GP - and saw my GP today. Feel completely vindicated. She agrees if I'm in more pain this week than I was last week then it's a sure sign all is not quiet in the state of Denmark. I'm walking like an old lady again and starting to moan through out the day (again). She has ordered an US and wee test and started me on MORE ABs - I'm sooooo glad I bought that large jar of acidophilus. She took my temp and I had a fever but my thermometer at home still has me at the normal temp so I wonder how long I've had a fever for and the stupid bl**dy thermometer's been telling fibs! Anyway I bought one of those ear thermometers (and got a free toy with it - hehe) and the other one's going in the BIN!
Big shout out to Jazmum, Mbear, Joasia, Noisuf, and all the others I've missed who are no doubt reading but too busy with babies to post!
-
What are DF shoes and where do I find them?
-
Arte, DF are the Diana Ferrari Supersoft range, they have nice comfy shoes - I usually get them at places like Myer and ? used to get them at Betts & Betts but last time I looked they didn't have them (might've been wrong season)?
-
Morning Ladies,
Re Diana Ferrari Shoes. Yes thats why I am going to the Factory Outlet shops today as I love the shoes they are the best around and I dont like paying full price though.
MD- I hope your wound gets better soon.
Well Last night Olivia only woke up at 12.30 am and didnt wake up till 6.00am this morning... Yipppee for mummy..... I hope she does it tonight....
Hello to everyone and have a wonderful day...
Happy Birthday to KATIE for Yesterday I hope you had a wonderful day.
-
A belated Happy Birthday to you Katie - glad you had a lovely day.
Leanne, Olivia was such a good girl to you last night, fingers crossed she does it again for you. I am a wee bit green about your outlet shopping trip today LOL. I hate paying full price too (It's my Scottish heritage coming out in me ;) ).
Marydean, I am really glad you trusted your instincts and went to the Dr, it doesn't sound good at all hun. Aside from the pain do you feel OK, like not sick or anything? I had a giggle at the thought of you in socks and sandals though, but I don't know how you do it in a ACT winter though. My SIL's sister has size 11 feet and she once went to a shop that stocked clothes for trannies and found some great shoes LOL.
Arte, I buy mine from Myer when the have their shoe sales and buy two pair at a time. My local Shoex shoeshop has them too and they go for about $90 a pair but worth every penny of it.
Renee, I let Alister sleep on his belly sometimes during the day and that way I can check on him. At night he is OK to sleep on his back. I think Jaz said that Hannah prefers to sleep on her belly. You're not *supposed* to do it, but if bubs is more comfy that way then why not I say. What did you decide about relactating? On the long hours front, when DH is on dayshift, he leaves home at 4.30am and gets home at 7.45pm - so yeah, I hear you on the long days. It's hard too as he isn't home during arsenic hour. But his shift is 4on, 4 off so it's not that hard to put up with kwim?
Katie, Logan is doing really well! I wake Alister sometimes for a feed too, especially if it is getting late in the day as I don't want it to put the rest of the night out of whack. I hate having to wake him though.
Alister had a good night again, it's just the late afternoons that are the trouble, but it's hardly surprising, they always seem to know when you're at your busiest LOL. Paige has conjunctivitis ATM and I am desperate for her to stay away from Alister so I am keeping him in my room today so I have a better chance of her not going near him. I also get paid the baby bonus tomorrow too - not that I get to see it because we have some pretty big bills to pay. Did anyone else notice that they have changed the rules so that the baby's birth has to be registered before you can get it paid? There must have been some rorting the system or something.
Hi to everyone else - I hope you all have a lovely day.
-
Sherie - DH has that Scottish heritage.
We were told they added the rule about registering because people weren't getting around to registering their babies births.
We just had a good night, 6pm feed, then sleep until 12, 4am, 8:30.
Ordered myself a Zoo feeding pillow yesterday.
MD - bad news on the wound, hope that clears up again soon.
11- Thanks for sharing your PND stories with us.
My apetite has also dropped significantly compared to pregnancy. Copeing quite well with just the 3 basic meals each day without snacks, and a piece of fruitcake at the 4am feed!!
-
Hi Cally, I wish I could bet Alister to go down at 6pm, it would make life a wee bit easier sometimes LOL.
Renee, I meant to say before too about your infection, I had been thinking about it and I think it's possible it came from having so many internals - you said you had 8 and that's a really excessive amount to have. Having so many internals can introduce the risk of infection too. But no doubt the bath could have contributed as well. I just wish it didn't happen at all to you.
-
I let Rory sleep on his belly last night and he loved it! He had the best sleep :) When he was on his back he kept waking himself up when I was trying to settle him. Last night I put him on his back and he fell asleep right away. Although I must admit that I didnt get the best sleep though, I kept getting up to check on him LOL! I am not going to do it all the time though.
Sherie - Yeah my whole labour seemed to consist of internal after internal. It was like a guessing game 'how dilated is the patient in labour suite 4' ha-ha. At one stage the midwife said 'yes you are fully dilated'! 'lets get ready to have a baby'! I pumped myself up saying 'I can do this, I can do this' only to find out she was wrong (AGAIN) and I was only 6cm and a CS was now on the cards!!
Glad Alister had a good night! Is it still hot over there?? Rory plays up at dinner time too ARGHHH! I end up running back and forth between the kitchen and his bouncer LOL!
Oh and a funny thing I remembered from the labour was there was a painting of cats in apartment buildings on the wall. When I was on the gas I kept asking Dwayne why there wasnt any ginger cats like milton and WHY wasnt Milton in the painting haha. I told him it was okay though because there was a brown one like Archi in there haha!
If I watch one more late night infomercial I am going to SCREAM!!!!!!!!! We are getting foxtel this week.
Well im off for a walk with Veronica this afternoon. Its a lovely day so it should be great :)
-
hi everyone
Belated happy birthday to Katie - sounds like you had a good day!
Marydean - glad you went to the dr, i think it is best to trust your gut (!!!) instinct with these things, you know how you feel and if something isnt right. Gosh I feel for all of you who are still recovering from the births, i feel pretty lucky that I am feeling so good. I must admit my appetite isnt gone... i seem to eat all the time... maybe it is a willpower thing not an appetite thing as i just eat all day!!! I have lost a lot of my preg weight so i guess maybe i need the food but i should watch it, DH seems to think i need to eat a lot still so he keeps buying me treats. I think he is worried i am going to get obsessive about getting my old bod back.. i must admit i am dying to get back into exercise - i have promised DH I wont do too much til my 6 wk check up - lots of walking at the moment but thats about it.
It sounds like all your bubs are pretty well behaved. I find the worst time for Noah is the morning - from say 7am to 12... he just wont sleep but he is tired and he cries a lot and wants to be cuddled. I have bought a sling so now i need to master it and that will make those hours easier for me. He has just gone off to sleep now, so I am about to have breakfast LOL! Last night he slept quite well for him, I fed him at 10.30 then 1.30 then 5 and then 8.30 - that is a good night in my book! i felt a lot better rested today. found myself getting quite snappy at Dh last night, i think it was the fatigue.
Renee - i hear you on the photography - i take soooo many! we just had a whole heap printed, i use an internet company and i have put together a few packages to send off to the grandparents and great grandparents of Noah's first week - he looks so different already though i am going to have to get more done soon! I am not sure about how you would have gotten the infection.. but that bath does sound pretty icky!!! ETA - we were posting at the same time!!! I am not sure about the front sleeping - I would be scared but if he sleeps better it couldbe a plan once in a while (maybe for day naps). it wont happen here - but that's more bc Noah screams when he is on his tum, i dont think he likes it!!! so it is ruled out anyway!
-
LOL Renee, that's what I do too at dinner time. Last night though I put him in the carrier and it made it a bit easier, but then I had to be careful of what I was doing as I couldn't see over the top of him properly. OMG at the midwife saying you were 10 and you were really only 6 - how could she possibly get that wrong? LMAO at you and the cat picture. When I was using the gas I kept mixing my words up. Once I was talking about Lindsay's broken arm to the midwife and I said 'elbow the xray' instead of 'xray the elbow' she near wet her pants laughing. It isn't as hot over here today, we had a cool change come through last night and it's quite pleasant today. Have a great afternoon with Veronica and Avaleigh too.
Pregpan, Im keen to get my body back too, but not that keen yet as I have to give up the choccies LOL. I still get a bit sore in the pelvis if I walk too far too quickly, so I can't really get into it yet. So I am savouring my last week with my stash ;)
-
Reneenay I hear you on the infomercials, lucky you getting foxtel. We had a look but dont think we can afford it and I worry about being stuck in a contract. I usually recoed a TV program at 8.30 or 9.30 and watch that while I feed Logan.
Sherie Logan's unsettled period is dinnertime too, lucky for me DH usually has him so I can get dinner ready. Most time I eat my dinner quick as though as I either have him in my lap or listen to him cry while I eat.
Pregpan I am doing lots of walking too and waiting until my six week checkup before doing anymore then that. I get pretty lazy though and will probably just stick to the walking. Remember all the housework you do counts as exercise as does any walking around shops (well I count it all :D).
Leeane lucky you have that great big sleep. I hope it keeps happening. Lucky you outlet shopping, hope you pick up soem real bargins.
I have just fed Logan and put him down for a sleep so I am off to have some lunch and clean the kitchen.
Have a great day!!
-
hi everyone - have been reading all of you posts, but not posting - as i've been taking Jess and Zoe swimming in the pool, and for trips to the park.
Hi to the ladies i haven't met - Mo and Kerry - looking forward to getting to know you :)
Renee - Sherie is right - i let Hannah sleep on her belly all of the time now. She settles much better, and because she has good neck control and can turn her head from side to side i feel a little better. I mentioned it to the nurse at clinic - and she said as long as i ensure that i follow all of the other rules with regards to sids. I still check on her every 5 minutes during the day though.
i too tried to get Hannah to settle by herself. I know when she is tired because she sounds like a kitten - with little meows! it's so cute. I tried a dummy - but the teats seem bigger than her mouth!!!! Anyway, she wouldn't settle with it, and kept spitting it out. Now i just put on my HAB and she falls asleep within a minute. Yay for foxtel! I don't know what i would do without it during my night stints.
ele- thanks for sharing your story with regards to pnd. Sounds like you have a very supportive dh as well.
Katie - Happy Birthday for yesterday. Hope you had a nice day :)
MD - I hope your infection starts to clear really quickly.
hi to everyone else :)
I took Hannah for her check up at the Paeditrician (sp?) and she is doing very nicely. Has put on another 200g in a week, and everything else seems to be fine. She is having a sleepy day today - perhaps because it is so hot. She is such a good girl for her mummy.
I was doing the groceries with the girls yesterday, and a woman commented on having 3 children. She asked me if bubs was a girl or a boy - when i told her it was a girl, she had the cheek to say "I bet your husband is disappointed.". I said "no actually, and how could anyone be disappointed with this little cutie!! As she was walking off i was hurtling every swear word at her (in my mind of course lol) I hate it when people say things like that. I need some sort of comeback for these people. And one for those that say, 'so i guess you'll be trying for a boy now". Any ideas?
-
OooOOoo Rory loves Avaleigh!! Check out the photograph I took on my website, SO CUTE! Gawd I cant believe Avaleigh is 10 weeks and Rory is only 3, they are the same size!!!
