hi everyone - it has been quite busy in here considering everything we all have going on!!! so sorryagain if i miss anything in the personals - again i am in a bit of a rush as a friend is on her way over so we can take our babies for a walk and have a coffee (her son is also called Noah so I hope no one asks us about them when we are out LOL or I look like a copycat - we met her and her huby through some other friends 2 days before Noah was born). It is a beautiful day here so i am looking forward to getting out for a walk in the sunshine. I have only missed going for a walk a couple of days and Noah is more grizzly those days!
Arte - it is great you have had your mum visitng, i am sure she loved meeting Will. Do you know when you will next see her? it is tough having family far away in a lot of ways isnt it. Mum has quarantined herself again as she is feeling worse... I really feel for her as she is not getting to spend as much time with us as she would have liked... hopefully it will pass soon.
Noni - LOL at the changes of clothes - I have learnt to dodge after the great sat night spew on my nice outfit on the weekend! I didnt think those of you in team pink had to worry as much about wee fountains???!!!! I am sure you will do fine with DP back at work, but I know how scary it is too. Dont feel you have to be superwoman and get everything done - leave the housework if you need to. DH and I view looking after Noah as my 'job' so I dont stress too much about housework etc if I cant get it done (you should see the state of our floors - MBear the domestic goddess would not be impressed!!)
Cindy - great to see you online - sounds like things are going well. I'dlove to get away to the coast for a few days - we are going over new years which will be lovely (we have hired a house at Hyams beach in jervis bay).
Jazmum - the video sounds wonderful - I missed you online!!! Glad all is going well.
OK ladies better run, I have to get dressed and look half way decent before my friend arrives... hope you are all having wonderful days.
-
Renee I do the same thing lol.
Noni couldnt help but chuckle at you having to change 3 times. Dont worry about the housework. I try to get mine done over the weekend when DH can help or at least keep an eye on Logan.
MD let m eknow how you go in the search for mat cami's I am after some too.
Cindy sounds like you have been busy. How nice having a trip away though.
Arte I know what it is like having your family far away. We are travellign toSydney in 2 weeks so that my parents and inlaws can meet Logan. Its nice that you got to spend sometime with your mum though.

lol pregpan not fountains the first one i was too lazy to get out of bed n when i had the nappy off her just about to put the new one underneath she went n it ran down the bed n on me lol the second time i was holding her n it came out the side of a badly put on nappy lol...

Woohoo!! back up to birth weight in 3 weeks and 5 days! She put on 270 g in the 12 days since last being weighed, so that is great. Very pleased that it is all working.
Lump still there, DH is now planning on taking my temperature during each feed ready to rush me off to the hospital for antibiotics if it starts to go up.
Last night she was an angel. Feeds at 8, 2:30 and 7. So I got a decent amount of sleep. Hope she doesn't revert back to 3hr feeds tonight, although it wouldn't surprise me if she did.
Pregpan - I have been wee-ed on a couple of times, so us 'team pink' still need to keep a close eye out. In the first 24 hours we were home, she wee-ed every time I took her nappy off, luckily that has reduced now.
JG - good to hear from you, was wondering how you were going.
Art - it is good to have mums visiting isn't it? I couldn't have coped during the second week we were home without her.

Bonds make a BF singlet top...saw them at Big W the other day when i was looking for another bra. They didn't have any in my size at the time, but will keep looking every time i go up there. IKWYM about getting sick of wearing bras 24/7. I let the 'girls' have some free time after my shower, let hubby have an ogle for a few minutes, then harness 'em back up! I let down at the drop of a hat, so absolutely impossible to go without a bra for very long :(
-
Cally what are you doing to get rid of the lump? Is it painful? I know the temp is warming up but sleeping on a hot water bottle really helped me, the next feed it was gone. I never got a temp or flu symptoms so be careful you dont want to end up with an abcess. Also are you feeding off that side first every feed?
A storm is just rolling through here so it is finally cooling down a little.
-
Without having breastfed yet (ever!!) MD I can second 1127 about the Bonds mat tops - really comfy and (hurrah!) no-nipply. They're cheapest at Big W but Myer also have them. Baby Bunting also had some feeding tops... I have the Lovable mat bras - how are you finding yours? I found it torturous for the first week; got fitted at the ABA and still feel that the 12D is too big around the back and the shoulders and cuts into my underarms. Unfortunately the 10D was ALMOST too small in the boosies. So unfortunately at the moment I am a freak of nature who is actually a size 11 PMSL. And I have tried on EVERY bra under the sun and they were the comfiest!! Completely confused about whether to take the one I haven't worn back and exchange it for the smaller one...
Have knocked off another *****eload of painting and sorting through stuff today. AND made a cake for DH's work morning tea and bought a flip-top bin for nappies. Good wife brownie points!! V tired now. Yaaaaay, my hired TENS machine arrived too! The "training" session the other day was way fun and helped my sore back and I want to play with it noooow but don't want to use all the sticky seal pads...
it's so cool reading about everyone's babies and what you're all experiencing... sorry I don't have anything to add on that front beyond saying I'm so proud to see what you've all achieved and how wonderfully everyone is doing. xxx

Hi everyone :)
Katie - the local news said that the Gold Coast is going to get a huge storm this evening. Stay safe.
ele-v- thanks for the massage tip - i'll keep it on file in my brain for next time H has some wind pain. (the block of chocolate in my cupboard is starting to tempt me - so might have to use it soon ;) )
I'm not looking forward to xmas shopping either. I find that lately i don't enjoy buying presents for people. (unless i have a really great idea for them) I think i'm going to look out for some places to purchase on line. Last year i used some toy catalogues to buy presents for other peoples' kids, and that seemed to work well.
noni - say 'hi' back to your dp - tell him it's wonderful that he is being such a great daddy :)
Cindy- a weeks holiday sounds great. Was it ok being with your in-laws?
Arte- glad you solved the carseat problem. It's stressful driving when they're screaming in the back.
Cally- isn't it great when they give you some decent blocks of sleep. It's great news that Katie is putting on weight.
Md - i know what you mean about having to wear a bra 24/7. I used to love getting into my pj's at night - having that free feeling. Now it just feels like i'm changing clothes for the night - there isn't that 'aaaaaah' feeling . I bought a couple of bonds maternity singlets. The only problem is that they seem to be a small make. I'm normally a 12-14 , but got a 16 and it is still a little tight.
What cute names to you call your bubs? Hannah gets - Hannahbanana, Hannihoohah and Hannah Montana.
Queenie - Your getting so close now!!!!

hi girls
sorry no time for personals now, my little 'angel' is upset and has been unsettled, spewed up in bed before and now having to wash the bed linen already.
I have no idea what to do, her nappy is changed, she has fed 2 hrs ago and i have tried to snuggle her, but wriggle wriggle wriggle and sooky. *sigh* her crying makes me cringe every time too - which doesn't help!
aahhhhh! any tips would be appreciated. she also spits her dummy out.

TMI Warning:
When i returned from hospital the bleeding was stopping and starting to go dark, however in the last few days it has started to increase and it is like there is a blood clot in there and I have hangers, sorry if tmi, but it won't stop, should I be concerned? Should I contact my midwife, or is this normal for the bleeding to stop and start like this?
am I the only one with this?

[quote=Sherie;956105//I think Alister is going through a growth spurt. Yesterday he fed every 2-3hrs and previously it was 4hrly. Plus they were big feeds too. He didn't do his big stretch overnight either - he went down at 8.30 and was up at 2 instead of 4. He is starting to make small cooing noises too, so cute.[/quote]
Sherie - i think maybe Tia is having a growth spurt too, she wants to feed more regularly than the normal 4 hrly she has been happy with. Would this be right? Or is she upset, cause she may detect that I am not that settled? Mum n Dad left yesterday for interstate, without saying goodbye, yet to find out what went down with that, (they were staying with friends not here). So maybe I am a little stressed out being at home by myself? I didn't think I was, but maybe subconsciously I am?
P.S Above my scar is so sore and is almost like its numb when I carefully rub cream into it. Do you think this is anything to worry about?
The Worry Wart!

Hi supa - Does Tia seem to be in any pain? Is she going red in the face or seem to be straining? Maybe try ele-v's massage trick after a nice relaxing bath. Other than that she may just be hungry again. Has it been hot where you are? Sometimes I find that Hannah is quite unsettled even though i have done everything - then i just feed her again to calm her down. This usually works for me. Could she be tired. I know Hannah also wriggles and does her little kitten cry - short little screams (so cute) when she is tired. I take her somewhere quiet and put on some soothing music to help relax her. I hope she settles for you.
re the bleeding - i'm not too sure - maybe just call your midwife for some advice if you're worried.
I hope you hear from your mum and dad soon and find out why they left without saying goodbye.
I probably haven't been much help to you - but I know what it feels like when everything seems to get on top of you. Sleep deprivation doesn't help with that either, does it.
-
Hi Jazmum - thanks for replying.
Maybe I am tired, the adrenalin can only go on for so long i guess hey.
Tia does those little outbursts like she is trying to tell me something. ha ha cute, but disturbing. :)
Maybe I should give her a bath and massage. good idea.
She does go red sometimes, other times just like she is wanting my attention.
I don't want to start on the feeding on demand thing, cause I am afraid of getting out of my nice 4 hrly feeds during the day and 5 hrly sleeps at night. Before she was doing the little cries in bed, but cause I was online I thought I'd just post first and she fell asleep. Is it ok to let them cry a little in bed and just to leave them?
Yes, she likes soothing music.

Supa, I had thought my lochia had slowed right down to nothing and then I had a fresh bleed and passed a huge clot (I'm talking tennis ball size) and the bleeding settled down again. I also have more bleeding after I've done a lot of housework too. But if you are having a lot of pain then call your midwife. With the wound, I have heard that some women feel numbness for quite some time and sometimes forever around the area. My sister still has areas of numbness around her scar.
Now with Tia, if you are startled to feel a little frazzled, give her to your Dh for a while (5 minutes will do) and go outside or have a shower or just somewhere for you to have a bit of time to collect yourself. It is bl00dy hard when you have tried everything and they are still upset. Sometimes the catch 22 is you think they are hungry, so you feed them more, when it is only wind pain and by giving them more you make the problem worse - but then sometimes they need just a tiny bit more to be able to bring up the wind - have I confused you yet? :) From what you've described though I would say she is a bit windy still. Alister gets all wriggly and wont take his dummy if he still has a bit of wind pain. I would give her a nice deep bath to cover her tummy and then a nice massage to help her out.
And lastly, don't ever be afraid to ask if you aren't sure about something OK - we are all here to help one another out.
ETA - another thing, they don't call this the 'arsenic hour' for nothing LOL. Some babies like to cluster feed of an evening which is a PITA for us, but they need it sometimes. I know it is hard to demand feed when you have a routine of sorts starting, but there are times when we have to just go with the flow.
*Hugs* for you anyway - sounds like you've had a rough day
-
SupaB are you breastfeeding? I have found that if I eat some foods it upsets Will. Chocolate is the main offender, he went darkside for a couple of days when I was eating a lot of chocolates and mudcake. As soon as I stopped eating it he went back to being happy again. I also ate raw onion (in a salad, not by itself) and he wouldn't drink my milk all day. He would only take little sips and pull faces. My boobs were so sore I thought they would explode. Have you eaten anything different in the last few days?
I weighed Will today - he is now 4.6kg, so he is up 1kg on his birth weight. Mum thought he was tiny, but he is so big now compared to when he was born. He will be massive the next time she gets to see him - we are planning to move back to NZ but need to get DH job sorted and sell the house so probably won't get there until the start of next year. I want to go back now. It is so much better having family around to share the baby with.
-
Arte - i hope things work out for you so you get to return home to NZ sooner rather than later. I think sometimes i take for granted how lucky i am that all my family live within 5 minutes of where i live.
William is growing very well isn't he. The block of chocolate in my cupboard won tonight :( (it was very tasty though) I'll see how Hannah copes with it tomorrow.
-
JaZ - I have been careful not to buy any chocolate because I know that it would win. Hope Hannah is o.k with it. I am really looking forward to having my family close. At the moment I only get back a couple of times a year. We decided to move back because DH and I both enjoyed growing up with cousins and grandparents around and we didn't want Will to miss out on his extended family.
I am worried that my gestational diabetes may have turned into Type 2 diabetes. I am still getting high fasting BSL. I have the GTT in a couple of weeks, so I guess I will find out soon. At the very least I need to reduce my weight. I was about 10kg overweight before bub, a little bit more now but the doctor wants me to be close to the lower limit for healthy weight so I have 20-25kg to lose. Hope that some diet and lifestyle changes are enough to prevent it.

hi everyone
firstly big hugs to SUpa - sounds like you had a rough night last night.. I hopetia calmed down eventually, i know how awful it can be - Noah has had a few episodes like that I think it is wind... i will try 11's massage techniques next time it happens and see what effect it has.
Wrt the bleeding, personally i would call midwives or someone and check if it is worrying you, that is better than worrying about it for nothing... i have heard though that it can stop and start and chg ovet the time... and it can go for up to 6 wks cant it? Mine is slowing but i am not sure if it will come back strong again. IT was watery etc when i left hosp but then became thicker etc when i got home and was like that for a few weeks, til now when it is slow and watery again.
Arte - I hope you done have diabetes from the gestational diabetes... and I hope NZ works out for you too. it will be nice for you to be closer to your family and for will as well. I knwo what you are going through, our family is all interstate and overseas as well. Amazing weight gain for will, I am thinking I will go to the clinic tomorrow and get Noah weighed - I wil be interested to see how much weight he has gained, I am sure he has gained some - you can see it, he is getting quite chubby!!!
Well we did our night routine again last night, it took longer as Noah was hard to settle but then he slept from 8.30 to 1.30 and then had a feed and slept from 2.15ish to 5.30 - that's a record for us!!! I got some sleep - so good!!!! I also kept him in his room (right next to ours) all night - I didnt really plan to but he was peaceful in there and DH and I sleep better with that so I tried it and it went well.... I like havinghim in our room but I am glad this worked too - what do you all do (co sleep or sep rooms??) I actually think he sleeps better in there as i dont check on him every time he gurgles in his sleep LOL!! Anyway, I will keep going with the ritual and see what happens!
He seems to have a little bit of an upset tum, I am not sure if i should take him to the dr. He has been poo-ing less the last 2 days - a few a day, and some of them have been more brown (still yellow but browny yellow) and runny. I can see sometimeshe has wind pain too. What do you all think?
Anyway better go, busyish day today - we are taking Noah to DH's work for afternoon tea to meet his team... so I need to bake a cake this morning (just checked and we dont have some of the ingredients so I need to go on a walk to the shops). I also want to look 'normal' so need to spend some time with my hair straighteners etc!!!! Hope everyone has good days, chat later.
