Is anyone still dreamfeeding? Reason I ask is because I still am at 9pm every night & Maddie sleeps through till 7.30, but I'm wondering whether I should try dropping that feed, its her 5th bottle of the day.
My poor darling is so sick, she is miserable. :( She keeps waking coughing and just being upset, I think her throat is really sore, so its going to be a rough night here.
-
So much to catch up on so I am sorry if I miss something.
Happy 6 months to all the bubbas. Can you beleive we will be planning 1st birthdays this year!
Pregpan I have been comp feeding Logan for about 2 months now. I use the Tomee Tippee closer to nature bottles and have no problem going from breast to bottle. He is on the S26 formula too, which he also has no probs with but I heard lots of babies get constipated on it. If your going to try formula I think it is really trial and error.
Hayley I hope Maddie is better soon. Did she sleep ok?
Charli'smumma welcome, where abouts on the Coast are you?
Noni I think we got logan the same Easter present as you got Asha, they were very cute.
Arte lol at the funny looking baby, there are some strange looking ones out there thats for sure (none in our group though).
Mothers group was fantastic yesterday, it was hillarious watching the babies roll over each other and pull each others hair and faces.
I have been meaning to ask you all, when your talking to people outside of BellyBelly about our little group how do you refer to us all? If I am talking to someone about some advice I got from one of you ladies I say "a friend from my online mums group". Was just wondering what everyone else says.
-
poor asha has the worst hiccups this morning lol poor thing..
all these bubbas turning 6mths already Asha must be one of the younger bubs in this thread as she is not 6mths till the 26th.. no wonder sometimes i feel like she might be a little behind shes about 2wks behind alot of the bubs in here lol and 2wks is a big difference ive learnt lol...
i am so over looking at houses and we have hardly looked at any!! i feel like turning off my phone incase my cousin rings about it lol i wont but u know how it is?
katie - i usually say similar, online mums group or forum with mums of bubs around the same age i usually refer to it to dp as belly belly coz i know he knows what i mean though..
haley - we arent dreamfeeding here anymore simply because she will sleep through the night if we dont anyway i actually found if i woke her up to feed her she wanted to feed again in 4 hours rather than just sleep through.. hope your lil darlings cold clears up asap too how awful!!
arte - ashas doing well at getting around now too lol its pretty funny watching her inch along the floor!!
pregpan - glad ur enjoying ur new haircut.. i always get upset and regret it when i cut my hair short lol so ive learnt not to do it (took a while though lol slow learner in some respects haha) with the formula we are on nestle nan gold, weve also tried karicare, and karicare ha - ar.. this is the one we get the least spew from and she seems the happiest i think it is trial and error though.. have u tried getting samples from the chemist pr supermarket? sometimes they have like little sachets with 1-2 feeds in them so u can try them out.. we us tommee tippee closer to nature bottles too but asha isnt breastfeeding...
-
Good morning everyone :D
Ozstar, I'm at Merrimac, where abouts on the coast are you?
Pregpan, Charli has been on formula almost from the beginning (major b/feeding probs - long story). We were on a bit of a formula merry-go-round for a while there to try and see which one was best for her reflux and colic problems. I started with Karicare and I ended up going back to it. We found it to be the one that agreed with her most. Her paediactric surgeon (who we used to have to see for her umbilical hernia) also told us that Karicare was probably the best - specially for bubs with sensative tummies. But all bubs are different so I guess it's a matter of trial and error. I had stocked up on Nuk bottles and teats because I'd heard that they were good, but that was a waste of money - I bought the Dr Browns ones instead and they are fabulous. They don't create a vacuum like normal bottles do so bubs never take in air and you don't have to pull the teat out to release bubbles. So in that respect it feels just like breastfeeding does for bub.
We are off for a mum and bub coffee date soon so I'll be back again later on. Miss Charli hasn't had done a poopoo since Wednesday so I bet she'll do a big one just as we arrive at the cafe
have a good day everyone.
-
Katie - I tend to say 'I know someone...'. But online mothers group is a good idea, I might borrow that!
Can't help with the bottle question, K won't take it at all. I've been giving her a sippy cup to play with and she's been drinking a bit of water from that.
Hayley - we were never successful in introducing the dreamfeed, but we still tend to feed twice overnight. The last few nights she hasn't gone more than 6 hours since her bedtime feed. Probably different being BF though. Hope M is feeling better
Shorter hair - it's tempting!! I've been trying to say no everytime she does it and pull her hand away, but I don't think the message is sinking in!
Re early solids - can you try saying something like, 'cars never used to have seatbelts and now we know how much safer it is with them', ie along the same lines as 'times change'.
I've still been wrapping DD for her daytime sleeps, but she's starting to escape from them - should I put her in a sleeping bag, or just nothing and put a sheet over her when she falls asleep? Also, do you think I'll need 2 sleeping bags over winter (the 2.5tog ones?)
MIL rang yesterday morning and offered to take K for a walk for an hour so I could get a sleep. I couldn't do it though, mainly because I'd just had a dream that she and SIL took her in their car, just holding her in the backseat - and they went on the highway!
Weekend tomorrow - can have a sleep in!!
-
Morning Girls,
Happy 6 months to all:dance:
Charlismum- Hi and Welcome
Ozstar- I just say my Friends from Belly Belly
Pregpan- Congrats on the Hair Cut.
Noni- Hope you find a house soon
Well I am off to Melbourne tomorrow then on thursday I am off on our family vacation Yipppeee. I can not believe easter has come again so quickly. Well at least this year I can have a few drinks.
Hello to everyone and have a great day:hello::hello:
-
Hi, back from the black hole ;)
Just had the chance to go online and wow lots of things have been happening around here.
Havent had a chance to read properly, sorry for lack of personals.
HAPPY 6 Months & 6 months-to-be September babies!!!
My office arranged for a one time kindergym session for all the new mums the other day. It was fun until he fell to the floorboard :( A little bump on his forehead.
He is not crawling yet but sort of moving backwards when on his tummy, and moving in circles. Sometimes he is on all fours. He loves to blow kisses and i love it too.
He is going to childcare in 2 weeks time but doesnt want ebm or solid. Any ideas? I started a thread on this as well.
Gotta go now, mums group decided to meet at the shopping centre cause the weather is just crazy 40deg in autumn!
Happy weekend!
BTW, MD - to me you are a superwoman indeed!
-
Surprising Madeline slept well last night, it was me that kept getting up to check on her. She was coughing in her sleep throughout the night, sounded horrible. Hate it when she is sick.
Noni - Maddie is a younger one too, she was born Sept 27. Good luck with the house hunting.
Agnes - 40 deg you poor thing, its a much cooler 26 here today thank goodness. So over the hot weather, bring on winter.
Leemar - Lucky you, I so need a holiday!
Katie - With DP I say bellybelly (and he knows what I'm on about). Sometimes DP if he has a question he says have you asked the girls on bellybelly yet haha! With other people I just say someone I know...
Cally - For day sleeps I just tuck a blankie around Maddie, but at night I pop her into the grobag. I have just bought two 2.5 tog grobags for winter and I also got two 1.0 togs. I buy two of each because if you are washing one you've always got the second one to use. Only bummer is they are pricy, but I get mine from bloomandgrowdirect and last purchase they had a 50% sale. Always check them out they often have sales, so much cheaper than buying in Aus and they are always delivered safe and sound.
Charlismumma - I love the name Charli btw, it was on our shortlist, but obviously Madeline won! I have heard nothing but good things about the dr browns bottles.
Tonight is experiment night. I have upped Maddie's bottles to 240 so she will take 4 during the day and I am not going to do a dreamfeed at 9pm. We'll see what happens I guess.
Anyone into gardening? I need to get stuck into it today, I am not a big gardner and would love to pay someone to do it for me, but they charge a bomb. So I guess I have no choice but to do it myself if I want to keep it looking half decent!!
-
Agnes - Happy 6 months to Will for today!!! :happyforyou:
-
Hayley lol my DH does the exact same thing, he always asks have I checked with BellyBelly.
Leanne have fun in Melb.
Cally I was wondering how many sleeping bags to get for winter too.
charli'smumma I am in Molendinar.
Noni I meant to say earlier taht I will be in Blacktown next weekend. We should try and catch up for Coffee at Westpoint.
My DH told his dad that we have to take L to the pead, he only half listened like usual and so I have been fielding calls for the last two days about L's apparent operation. I keep having to tell everyone that there is no operation and it isnt even anything serious. DH has been banned from telling FIL anything.
-
Oh F%&@! Just lost my post! It was a goody too.
Happy Half Birthdays, to Noah and Will! :confetti:
V tired today. It was 2.00 am and I still had not slept for even a minute last night - contemplating HariKiri on the bedpost - it's been like this for the last 4 nights, don't know what's gotten into E at all! DH still away so I'm not getting make-up naps either. Funny how you can go from reasonably well rested to NUTSO sleep deprived in only 4 nights.
Hayley, get a gardener! We had one last year when DH was away - $60/hour once a month does mowing, edges trimmed, weeds sprayed, compost spread about, and leaves blower-vac'd. Wish DH would get out there an do all that once a month! Hope M is better soon
Cally, we still wrap, we have this 100% cotton cot sheet (dense weave) that doesn't slip and therefore she has to work quite hard to get out of it, advanced baby-wrapping skills here! LOL. Prolly won't do sleeping bags for that reason. BTW take your MIL up on her offer - she'll stop asking if you say no too many times.
Leanne, you jet-setter you! Bit envious really
C'smumma - hehe did you get through your cafe visit without a poo? LOL E hasn't done one since Monday and we reckon she's saving it up for DH when he gets home! H (my eldest DD) was in stitches over it last night.
Noni, hope you find something perfect house wise soon. Good tip re the formula sachets, too, BTW.
Katie, I just say "my friend who's baby's the same age as E" hehe cos you're all good friends and I don't know where I'd be without you!
Arte, LOL at Mr Bean Moment! Yep some are pretty funny. H came out pretty squished and I now wonder if other ppl thought she looked a bit weird (we just thought she was gorgeous)! LOL
Sherie, I hear you on the hot chip thing, I just want to scream "She's got the rest of her life to eat hot chips!" Hehe last time we just told everyone H was on a restricted allergy-prevention diet. Might say that this time round again, even though we won't be doing the diet. A little mummy porky pie! I like your idea of a street party but because there's a low side and a high side and it's a really busy road there are no front lawns to have it on.
Re Easter  we'll be in Adelaide so I can gorge myself on Haighs, we might even do a factory tour ! Well the Easter bunny's been a bit slow this year, no idea what to do for E, but I like your idea of a nice egg cup. Last year for a friend's little boy, we got this soft egg that unzips and there was a v.cute tufty-headed little duck on the inside (got it at Kmart). Taking DD1 googy shopping tonight after chinese soup, gotta get something for the FDC lady and teacher.
-
MD- How long are you in Adelaide for? When does DH come home? Good Idea on the Easter pressie for E. I am not sure if I will buy Olivia anything. Although I did buy the boys a toy for their first easter.
Agnes- Welcome back
Hey has anyone heard from LP lately.
-
Leanne, we're going for a whole week and two weekends! :D I can't wait for everyone to meet my bella Elisabetta, plus it's a really big time in our family because my dad and sis weren't talking for nearly decade and there's now been a reconciliation so it will be the first time in a long time that the whole family is together the way it should be.
-
MD- I hope you and your family have a really wonderful time:happyforyou:
-
MD - That sounds great that the whole family will be together. So sorry about E staying up all night, hopefully she crashes tonight. I've still been using our muslin wraps, might try one of the sheets instead next time.
LP still seems to be missing. Hope everything is all right with her.
Oz - MIL is like that, only listens to half the story and then worries too much.
Hayley - good luck tonight without the dreamfeed. I'm super jealous of your sleeping baby! I use the grobags at night too, the wrap is just easier during the day. I'm thinking we might need to use one for daysleeps though over winter, maybe the lightweight one for daysleeps because her room won't be that much cooler than the rest of the house. I'll keep that as an option if MD's sheets don't work out.
She had her best morning sleep this morning in 8 days! Yay! She's had shocking days lately, hope they improve soon. Yesterday and the day before she only did 1.25 hours total all day! So far she's past that already.
-
Well I was reading through the posts and I only got as far as Hayleys. Now im off to do some weeding LOL! Ive been meaning to do it for ages. Thanx for the motivation haha
Did you hear Rudd is thinking about scrapping the baby bonus? Then I heard he is talking about taking it up to $5000.
Will be back later to read all the posts :)
-
hey all
bit frazzled atm, not having much sleep, drinking too much sugarfree v and losing my mind lol.. i kinda feel like i am on amphetamines but i'm not haha its crazy i keep forgetting things and blanking.. just so many things going on atm i'm losing the plot a little lol oh well.. i went to the dr and he told me to stop drinking v for a while and take some valium to bring the mood down coz i am kinda up in the rafters atm lol but i cant really function on valium very well and i have to see family this weekend and they wont understand ahhhhh brain is going a million miles an hour!!!
renee - it had been planned to go up to 5000 in july anyway and then that was as high as it was gonna get apparantly.. i know now if ur under 18 u can only get it in installments (the lady at centrelink asked me how old i was before she looked at my papers hahaha) hed be gutsy to take it away alotof ppl would be angry about that!
cally - asha is like that not a day sleeper at all so when she dosnt sleep through the night for one reason or another i am absolutely buggered!!!
leanne - have a good time on your family vacation :)
md - goggy lol havntheard that in aaaaaages!!! hope it cools down before you go to adelaide hear its been shocking over there!! i thought haighs was in melbourne?? confused!!
katie - sounds great!! what you doing in blacktown??
haley - maddie and asha are only 1 day apart lol i am sure i noticed that before and just forgot!! was it you worried about the developmemt stuff? coz on the rolling front asha only did that like half a week ago, she rolled from tummy to back a few times and then never did it again but as soon as she figured out from back to tummy now she does it all the time and instantly started trying to crawl too it all kinda hit at once so i am sure maddie will start soon!!
good to see you posting agnes :)
-
Hi Hayley, we kind of named Charli after my pop, but we decided to drop the "e" from the end to make it look more feminine. I thought about naming her Charlize and just calling her Charli for short, but DH wouldn't have a bar of Charlize. :wall:
Madeline is a nice name too!
Marydean, no, I was very surprised. I ended up being out for about 5 hours and no pooey nappy! I left Charli with DH later this arvo while I went to do the groceries and she did a nice big one just for Daddy  oh she's a good girl! haha
-
Uh oh I can feel a sore throat coming on. Poor Mad's is sounding worse, she did not settle till 8.30 tonight, she was just miserable. DP cuddled her off to sleep he felt so sorry for her.
Cmumma - How is your DH with changing a pooey nappy? Mine is still terrible, gags and all.
Cally - Yes she is a good sleeper my Maddie but I'm wondering how long it will last. I have had a fairly easy going 6 months with her and she is such a placid girl, so hopefully it will last. I bet the roles will be reversed with the second bub though, you will have a sleeper and I'll have a bub keeping me up at all hours!! Oh well what can you do, they are all different.
Noni - Thanks for your reassurance re the whole development thing. I tend to be a paranoid first time mum and take what everyone is telling me seriously. However I was suprised to see Maddie lift herself up off her tummy today with her arms, only for a few seconds but she is getting there. I think she was saying 'take that' to the know it all physio lol. Gosh girl hope you can get some sleep tonight and sort out your frazzled mind hahaha! I cant function unless I've had 8 hrs!
Renee - How did the weeding go? Was a good day for the garden wasnt it, not too hot. Such a pain though, I so need a gardener! I also heard that rudd was thinking of means testing the baby bonus.
Marydean - Thats good that your dad and sis are talking again. 10 yrs of no talking is huge! Hopefully you can get some sleep tonight.
I was reading today about sleeping for babies, and apparently if you get the day sleeps right, settling at night time is so much easier and the baby is more likely to sleep. Does this ring true for any of you? I find it is so true for Maddie, if she has had a crappy day of sleeping she is alot harder to settle at night. Reason I was reading was because the know it all physio told me I need to reduce her day sleeps, she is a real sleeper this one and has 3-4 hour naps during the day. I thought it was normal and there is no way I am planning on trying to reduce her daytime sleeps, she will be grumpy otherwise. Besides why change something that is working!?
-
Haley, I got the day sleeps sorted out and night time fell apart. Now he is up 4+ times a night. If you are happy then don't mess with a good thing I say! And yay to maddie for lifting herself up - it always seems that as soon as you post about something they aren't doing they start doing it lol
Noni, hope your mind is feeling calmer. I have a new respect for you, after living in a tiny house for a week I am going slightly nuts I don't know how you have done it for so long! I have my fingers crossed you get to move into something bigger soon.
Poo nappies have become a mission lately because the second the nappy is undone he is trying to play with his doodle so you have to try to hold his hands out of the way while trying to clean it up.
-
arte- thanks :) it does do your head in living in a tiny space.. thing is some stuff went down with my cousin and we cant move with them anymore.. i wont go into it but basically she did something really nasty that made us see living with her would have been hell anyway.. now we are on the hunt for a small 2 bedroom house coz its all we have hope of affording and wed atleast have our own space
haley - i agree if its working dont change it lol sets youself up for disaster i think!! well done to her sticking it to the physio haha..
carlismum- oh i wish Asha woud save her big stinky nappies for daddy!! or spew on him instead one day...
-
haha, yeah DH still gags when he changes a pooey nappy. He's only changed 6 so far! Thats why I love it when Charli saves it up for when he is looking after her
Charli has NEVER been a good day sleeper. However she started sleeping through the night at 11 weeks so I guess I can kind of handle the lack of daytime naps. She has 2 or 3 catnaps per day but they are for 45 minutes at the maximum.
-
Hi girls,
Well I am just waiting for my lift to the airport then I am off.
Noni- You poor love I just want to come and give you a big hug :hugs: I think we all get like that I know I do. I hope you find your house soon.
Well bye for now and I will be back on before thursday.
Have a wonderful weekend to all
-
Hayley - I find that very true. The longer Rory naps during the day the better he sleeps during the night. I always remember someone telling me sleep breeds good sleep.....or something like that LOL! Rory has about 3 x 1 - 1 & 1/2 hour naps and goes down at 7:30pm and sleeps through to 7:30am. Although now when he wakes up he doesnt cry, just plays in his cot and sometimes I sleep in to 8:00 EEK!
I got the gardening done but now im as red as a lobster. Im too fair to even go out in the sun for 5 min but it was such a beautiful day!
YAY for maddy lifting her self up. You go grrrlfriend :) I agree with Art, dont mess with a good thing! Hope you and Maddy are feeling better soon. Poor luvs.
Noni - I hope you find something soon and you can relax :) Would an apartment be suitable? Did you get a better nights sleep last night?? I cant drink V's or redbull, I flip out :)
OzStar - I say my 'September group"
Leemar - Have a super dooper great holiday, you lucky duck you! Hope Olivia & the boys have a blast.
Art - Oh no! Gawd nappy chaging is hard enough with Rory rolling every 5 seconds. I hope he doesnt discover his willy anytime soon LOL.....maybe when he is in his teens hahah :) Will sounds like he will be on the move anytime now!
Happy 6 months Katie, Noah and Will!!!!!!!!!!
Marydean - How did E go last night? Are there any signs of teething? Hope your feeling better. I have never heard of Haighs before but it sounds YUMMO!! DH was in Adelaide, I should of got him to bring me some back.
Chari'smumma - *high-five* Charli! Good work saving that nappy for daddy haha.
I have I remembered everyone. I think I missed a whole page of posts...DOH! Well I better run I have to jump into the shower, go to the furniture shop to check out some wood chests (that ill use as a toy box) to put infront of the powerpoint, collect my pay, go to my Aunty's 45 mins away to pick up a suprise they have for Rory and get home in time for Dwayne to take me out to dinner & the movies. We have been arguing like cats and dogs so we are making it a 'date'.
Oh I put Rory in one of his 00 jumpsuits last night as the mornings are getting cold and he keeps wiggling out of his blankets. I forgot how cuddly and cute they look in them!I just wanted to squeeeeeze him haha
Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!!!!!!!!! XXOXOX love you all
-
I had the worst sleep last night, Maddie was coughing in her sleep all night and it sounded terrible. I got her up at one stage and gave her some water with panadol in it, hoping that the water would clear her chest a bit but nothing was really working. Other than that she slept but it was DP and I who were lying awake thinking omg what can we do for her lol.
Renee - Maddie is the same as Rory, she will wake in the morning and happily lay there talking to herself waiting for someone to come and get her. Naughty me, I have been known to use that now and then for an extra half an hr sleep in hehe! Also they are much the same with their day time sleeps. Did you find a toy chest? We have a white one for Maddie but atm we use it as her blanket box. Also if you are looking for cheap and fun looking toy boxes, Ikea have really cute ones for $10 - they arent wood they are like a mesh material but does the job and looks great. You can see them on their website.
Arte - That is so funny that baby boys discover their pee pee and play with it! Men, it starts early doesnt it!
Cmumma - As long as Charli is sleeping through the night, who cares about day sleeps! :)
Leemar - Have a great time you lucky girl!
Noni - Oh no what a bummer about the house. It will be much nicer with just the 3 of you though, you can walk around the house nakie and no one cares lol.
Is anyone going to get the ikea high chair? It looks a bit boring and el cheapo, but someone I know highly recommends it as she says its all plastic and you can take it outdoors and hose it down.
-
Hayley - I'd like to get the Ikea chair, but we don't have a shop near here so it would be too difficult. They don't do mail order do they?
K lies there talking to herself too in the mornings. I certainly don't rush in to pick her up either!! Sometimes it's nice having breakfast first or just lying in bed for a bit longer.
Leanne - have a lovely holiday. Hope you don't miss your 3 little munchkins too much.
The days K has had heaps of awake time are usually bad nights. We had one this week where DH had to go in and resettle her every hour or so before he came to bed.
Hayley - if she is sleeping for that long during the day, she obviously needs it! I wouldn't be changing a good thing at all. Did you drop the dreamfeed last night?
MD - did you get some sleep last night? Has E done her massive poo yet?
-
Cally - re the sleep, thats exactly what I think, I was a bit confused when the physio said try to make her sleep less during the day. She has no idea, that will make her very grumpy. I dont know if Ikea do mail order? I didnt manage to drop the dreamfeed last night as she was sick, overtired and therefore we had a hard time settling her last night. So at about 8 I gave her the dreamfeed that I'd usually give her at 9 to help settle. I'll give it another go once she is better.
Poor Maddie i've been researching on the net because she has diarrhea and her terrible cough/cold thingamy. She slept today for 5 hrs straight. I've been trying to keep her fluids up, she isnt taking her full bottles as usual so I've been trying water in between feeds flavoured with a bit of panadol, otherwise she wont take the water. Her temp is normal but we are keeping a close eye on her.
-
waaaaa i just wrote this huge post and now its gone :( so in short
haley - i give asha water in a syringe if shes sick have u tried that?
ikea high chair - i plan to get one
thanks for the hugs and reassurance
and we looked at a house today that we are going to apply for so cross your fingers because for a young couple its not easy!!!
-
Good luck Noni, ive got my fingers crossed for you..so does Rory!
-
Haley, hope M is feeling better tonight. Do they still make Vicks Vapor-rub? That can make breathing a bit easier if she is clogged up. Or an oil burner with eucalyptus oil in her room could help clear her nose.
Noni, good luck with the house, really hope you get one sorted soon.
Highchairs - DH's parents are restoring the one that DH had as a baby. We should be able to bring it back up after easter.
Leemar, hope you have a great trip.
We had quite a good day. I found a bush walk around the corner from my house, it was 50minutes return. My cousin gave me a carrier and DH took Will in it. Then we went for a drive up the mountain and bought a boat on ebay.
Is there a wonder week around 6 months? In the past week Will has started pulling himself up to standing, started cruising furniture and today he must have bum scooted because he was sitting about a foot from where I left him.
-
Good luck with the house Noni! Good tip with the syringe, thanks.
Arte - I cant believe Will is already pulling himself up and scooting along, that is so good! Love the new ticker pic he is such a cutie.
Just got Maddie to bed, after hrs of rocking, feeding, cuddles etc. Bought her a vapouriser for her room today so hopefully that will help her with the coughing tonight. I have already msged my boss to tell her I may not be in on Mon/Tues, depending on how she is feeling.
-
Arte - yes there is a wonder week at 26 weeks, so sounds like Will is right in it! Sounds like the walk was nice, I'm planning on us doing that once the weather cools down a bit more here. We've got heaps of lovely bush near us.
Hayley - hope Maddie had a good night once you got her down.
Noni - good luck with the house.
-
Hi everyone, I'm back from the brink of sleep-deprived insanity! LOL DH came home for Fri and Sat night and let me sleep...! Good thing to cos he's away again this week :(. Grin and bear it, MD.
Well we had a luuuurvely weekend, first in ages where I didn't have a deadline hanging over me. Didn't do much. Had lunch with a friend yesterday, & actually watched telly with the family! And we had a Happy Half Birthday party for Elisabeth with a big pink cake (!) and party hats . Not that she had any cake of course. I've been busy on eBay too, I've won a few good age appropriate toys AND the Tinytalk baby sign lang pack for $35! (*MD gives self pat on back*)
Cally there's a rumour going around that an Ikea is being built in fyshwick? Near the airport? But i could have completely the wrong end of the stick, if you ask you family they will prolly know. No they don't do mail order, your best bet is to get a family member to stop in when they're up at Sydney (you can look at the catalogue online and make your selection).
Arte, I've been wondering about a wonderweek too, I know it's around 26 weeks but I've been too mentally lazy to get my calendar out and work out whether 26 weeks is right on 6 mths or not! LOL @ bumscooting - nice work Will! Sounds like you might have yourself an early walker there. BTW, v impressed with your busy weekend!
Hayley, I sooo hope Maddie is feeling better soon poor chook!
Noni, good tip (as usual) re water in the syringe...we haven't tried E on water yet, DH bought sippy cups without the handles so i'd like to get some with handles so she can wave it around and bang it on the table (her favorite thing right now, banging LOL). Good luck with the house.
Renee, hope you enjoyed your 'date'. What did you see? Did you find a good toy box?
C's mumma, well E came up with the goods for Daddy while he was home, after not pooing for 6 days...hehehe I was lying in bed this morning and I could hear him next door changing E's nappy saying how full it was and then he's shouting "Quick, H, bring me more wipes!" apparently she let rip with a megapoo while he had her nappy off :cryinglaugh:! High five, Bettybums!
Ok, better go I"m supposed to be converting last night's taco mince into some sort of nutritious and tasty casserole for dinner tonight, better hop to it!
:hug:s to all our ladies!

MD - That's great that she saved up her big poo for Daddy!! lol!! I'll ask the family about Ikea, I hadn't heard that, I know they are planning DFO in Fyshwick.
Silly me - remembered today my sister was in Sydney for a wedding yesterday, should have seen if she was going past Ikea.
26 weeks is spot on 6 months - just counted.
We've just got the Heinz baby basics sipper cup - the small on. DD loves it, will chew on it for 30 mins or so at a time. I put a little bit of water in it, not sure how much she swallows, she's usually pretty wet afterwards!!

hi ladies! quick post from me. so sorry i haven't been posting. been trying to keep up with what's happening with everyone though and reading whenever i can. anyway, we're off for our holiday tomorrow. am so excited coz' it's the first time my family gets to meet max. am just so looking forward to showing her off.
just a note on going to solids. chn last friday suggested a different approach to going to solids....i think it's called baby led weaning....more ideal for breast fed than formula fed apparently....and instead of mashing food....you start off with big bits (i.e. whole peach) which the bub can gnaw on him/herself and he/she will stop eating when he/she is full....rather than mum shovelling the food into their mouth. i think there are websites that can expound on this. just thought i'd share this with everyone in case anyone's interested.
doubt if i'll be online while on holiday (need to use the time to shop and catch up on goss with my sisters......oooohhhhh i can see a lot of late nights!!!). so....
HAPPY EASTER to everyone!!!
HAPPY HALF YEAR to all the bubs that have reached their 6th month birthday!!!
enjoy your holidays and travel safe to anyone and everyone who's going away for easter and before or after!!!
catch you in april!

Hayley, *hugs* hope Maddie gets better soon. Poor bubba
Cally, I weaned him from his wrap about a month ago. Tough at first, but getting better now. On cold nights, I put him in sleeping bags but not during the day.
Leanne, enjoy your vacation!
Katie, I always refer to 'my friend(s)'
MD, good to hear you had a nice weekend. Have fun in Adelaide! Btw, I put my FDC application a while ago but everytime I followed it up they told me to call in April because we'll need care for May. A bit strange, I thought I can start interviewing people.
Charlimum & MD, LOL at saving the big thing for daddy
Arte, love the photo. He looks like a big boy already and the mountain looks so tranquil. LOL at the nappy time. I usually ask him to hold his clean nappy to avoid his hands get dirty. Sounds like he is doing really well.
Renee, dinner and movies - sounds great :)
Noni, GL with the house, hope you get it
Fianne, how exciting. Enjoy your holiday and have a wonderful time with your family!
I think I mentioned earlier that W refused EBM and solids. I didnt expect we'll be having problem with solids after reading that the other babies in this thread like their foods. He shut his mouth everytime I offered him food.
Fianne, I also read about the baby led weaning and was thinking about giving it a go.

Fianne and Aglinra, I think we are going to try the baby led weaning approach because DS will happily snatch food off us and start chewing on it but clamps his mouth shut if I try to shovel in puree. Twice at restaurants he has made a grab for the garlic bread and loves to suck on a piece of it. I would have thought the garlic taste would be too strong for him but I guess not.
Noni, good luck for the house. My DH would love his ironing done but I refuse to do it. I don't iron my clothing and don't see why it should be up to me to iron his. Then he gets in a big sulky and tries to do it himself but it is a pitiful attempt aimed at making me feel guilty (which I don't lol)
Aglinra, I have tried getting him to hold the new nappy/a wipe for me but his doodle is more interesting lol I am worried I will have the kid at kindy that is always standing with his hands down his pants :cryinglaugh:
Fianne, yay for getting to show off Max to your family! So exciting. We are going to see DH's family over easter who haven't seen Will since he was 6 weeks old so I am quite excited about that.
Haley, hope Maddie is feeling better now
After having a great saturday we had a really dumb sunday. We left the house at 8am, got an hour down the road and remembered something we had to go home to get, Will woke up and didn't want to be in the car seat so we had to keep stopping to settle him. DH got a speeding ticket. A 2.5 hour trip took us 5 hours. Then we couldn't find the disc in storage to set up my mums new computer so the whole trip was pointless. Then we had yet another fight on the way home (in the first 10 minutes and spent the rest of the trip in silence).

have mothers group today.. its the last one at the community centre so we will be going out to lunch afterwards.. yum cha apparantly, never had it, dnt know how ww friendly it is but after kfc TWICE this week i spose it dosnt really matter lol oops..
Asha is getting better at manovering herself around the floor, what age are they supposed to crawl though? like up on hands and knees? idk how close she is to that...
arte - i think dp genuinly believes he cant iron lol but i cant be sure.. ive heard him try when he had to get up really early for an interview thatwas far away and it was too early to wake me to do it and there was alot of swearing and stomping lol he tends to iron more creases into the shirt then there was when he started and then he gets really frustrated and upset so now i am doing it for him (he actually said once he should take it to his mums to iron which was when i said for gods sake i will do it lol like she dosnt have better things to do than iron his sons clothes lol) but still one night off would be nice ut when i say i dnt wanna do it he is all like "but you said u would thats not fair" and gets all sulky and angry thats whats annoying lol..
agnes - maybe W just isnt ready for solids yet.. and dont worry if hes not as interested as some of the other bubs alot of bubs take ages to get used to food, its a completely new sensation just take it slow and steady.. and like some other ppl have sugested maybe let him suck or chew on a piece of fruit??
fianne - did she say what age it was ok to give them a big bit of something? asha loves to chew on the mesh bag i got her filled up with apple but i am worried if i give her a whole piece of something she will just shove it right down her throat lol..
