hello lovelies
md- yes i love my ergo (check out stylish pics of me wearing it in my gallery!). i am spewin because after i bought it they released a fab looking organic range (the hunter green one is soooo me!). anyways, yes i love it. it is so much simpler than the hab- i never use my hab now. am saving it for bubs #2 when it's a newborn then it's going on ebay. the ergo is a lot quicker to put on, it's great for shopping (i wore it yesterday to the mad Target Zac Posen rush) and it is all good. the one thing i will say about the ergo is that it is not quite as good on your back as the hab, i think as the weight isn't quite as easily distributed. i tend to get a little bit of a sore lower back if i'm wearing it for ages, but it's not too bad. i find lewis isn't quite big enough to wear him on my back yet, so i always wear him on my front. i'm looking forward to being able to wear him on my back though, as i've heard people rave about it. all in all, the ergo has been a very wise investment and i think you would be really happy with one.
now, on another note, i was thinking that it's only fair that if your dh is disappearing for 3 months, he needs to get you the platinum foxtel iq package. it's only fair.
noni- glad to see you're back and safe!
pregpan- another trashy tv friend hey?? i love it. do you watch 'The Hills'? it's by far my favourite. i also loved 'I Love New York'.
cally- sounds like teeth to me
tamara- enjoy your trip!
-
ooh gracie i havent found the hills yet, i will search for it on foxtel (also never heard of i love NY but since i DO love NY I am sure i would have loved it). My SIL also wears her Ergo on the side and this seems to work well.
MD I agree w Gracie platinum foxtel seems to be a good START point for compensation!
Noni - I dont think you need to rush to get her on 3 meals of solids a day, i think it is all a bit of an experiment for now. That said Noah is a mad eater so yes he has 3 solid meals a day - sometimes more than others. I offer it 3 times and he eats what he eats. Today he is going nuts over it - had weetbix w formula for breakfast (prob ate about half the weetbix) and then some pureed nectarines, then for lunch he had carrot and cauliflower puree - i gave him 4 cubes (usually i do 3) with some grated cheese in it and he wolfed the whole lot down, was still complaining for more so i also have him 2 dessert spoons of yoghurt and he ate that too... i have some veges for his dinner (though he may miss out on that as we may be in the car on the way to syd). i am trying to introducea bit more variety now as i think he is a bit sick of purees... next week we are going to start more w finger foods (i have done a little but am waiitng to have a high chair). Anyway each bub is diff so i think you are right to go with the flow with what she seems to want. what kind of stuff are you giving her? i am trying to do a lot of more 'adult' foods - like normal yoghurt, weet bix, cheese etc so that he is always used to normal foods... he also loves vegemite!
ok off to finish my packing and then we can leave soon after N wakes up.
have a great weekend everyone

Hi there ladies!
Cally I totally sympathise with you. Leila also decided to dance throughout the night...now that she has learnt to sit up in the cot she is 'practising' at every opportunity...arrghhhh obviously sleeping through is out of fashion at the moment!
MD: we too have an ergo and it's fantastic! the weight is distributed really well and the bubbas dont appear to feel as constricted...also it has the benefit also of carrying them on the hip and on the back. (and i love the fact that it comes with a hood so that when they sleep you can pop them away and they dont get distracted. love it.
Noni: Hi! and ahh the joys of solids...i dont think it's a big issue at this stage. as long as bubba is happy and growing well; we only just put Leila on 3 meals a day as the little tike has a mega appetite, but i am also keeping up (pretty much) the same amount of breastfeeds...hhhmmm wonder if i should cut down on that?? any tips on that anyone?!
Pregpan: my friend has the ikea chair and cant stop raving about it! she loves it and reckons that it is easy to clean and use and has had it for almost a year (her girl is 18 months and still using it). we ended up buying the stokke as my DH insisted (he wanted a red one!), leila quite likes it and enjoys eating at the table with us (or rather smashing her food everywhere...)
Just went down to visit and feed leila at child care, i find myself staying there for almost an hour at lunch playing with her...kind of defeats the purpose of childcare doesnt it?!
anyway, best keep at the typing, have to give a paper next week (new uni, new people) and feeling kinda nervous (egad!)
Clare :))

pregpan - asha has had a few different things, generally for breakfast she has rafertys cereal and lately i am adding fruit puree to give it a bit more flavour and for lunch she was generally having yoghurt (adult jalna) or fruit in the mesh bag and a rusk, or fruit puree, shes tried alot of different things now and seems very keen and hungry but i worry about overfeeding her.. today she woke up late so missed breakfast and for lunch she had half a jar of an organic baby food i bought to flavour her cereal with because we didnt have anything in the fridge and she was hungry.. i find myself stuck for ideas in what to give her.. shes also tried a few diff vegies with a fair bit of success the only thing shes hates is carrot lol litterally gags on it!! is itok to give them cheese etc? i wasnt sure??
-
yeah i can recommend the rafferty's cereal. leila loves it, and it mixes well with fruit purees (and i find it's also pretty economical as far as premade stuff is concerned...).
i would love to get leila on the cheese although the last couple of attempts with dairy have given her a slight rash around the mouth, so i might wait a couple more weeks. Can we use just normal adult cheese?

good afternoon ladies
been ages since i've been on.
folks have been over and busy busy busy studying, working etc.
T has got two teeth now - middle bottom ones. she hasn't been too bad about it, just waking earlier than normal and sometimes in the middle of the night. i got some paint from w&c's hosp which she likes me using on her gums.
i will read up on the latest now.
speak soon!

Hey SupaB, how was the Tupperware party??? :D
I heard about the WCH paint while I was over there but didn't make it that far and apparently that's the only place you can get it after some dad dosed his child with it thinking it was panadol (!!!). I'd kill for some, apparently it is The Best Thing for teething.
BBL everyone, just wanted to catch Supa while she was online! :)
-
Supa B - oOooo T has got top and bottom teeth! Glad it wasnt too painful for her. Some bubs are having a real hard time with them. How is the studying going???
Noni - I wouldnt worry about over feeding Asha. OUr nurse told not to worry about over feeding Rory because if he couldnt handle it or it was too much he would spew it back up. He is never sick when we give him solids, he loves the stuff.
Clare - I wish my Dh would want a fancy highchair LOL.
Gracie - You have sold me on the ergo LOL! How is the clean up going in your area after the storm??
Pregpan _ whooa Noah is eating some lovely meals! He has a gourmet chef LOL! Im going to start cooking up Rory's meals and you have given me some great ideas! Thank you xoxox
I had a great afternoon at my friends house with her 1 year old son. Ive got a lovely creamy mushroom chicken cassreole cooking in the slow cooker for dinner tonight. I think im going to start cooking in the slow cooker more, it means I can get everything ready in the morning and have the meal ready in the evening with no fuss.
-
Renee I love my slow cooker and couldn't be without it.
Supa T must look adorable when she smiles with her bottom two teeth.
Noni I only give Logan 2 meals a day, I am in no hurry to give him more. I figure I will know when he is ready.
Clare and Gracie I have been pestering my DH for an Ergo and now you have well and truly sold me so I am blaming you both if DH gets cranky at me buying one lol.
Pregpan have a great weekend.
Cally did you manage to catch up on some sleep? Is K having solids?
Logan actually had his best sleep ever last night, he didn't wake until 7am, I couldn't believe it when I seen the time this morning. We didn't end up going to the bonds shop, I will go tomorrow. I am getting my hair cut for the first time in I don't know how long tomorrow. I am also getting my eyebrows waxed, last time my regular lady wasn't in and they completley butchered my brows I have had to wait for them to grow back in so I look pretty scary at the moment lol.
-
Hi everybody
Katie - we're having hot chooks, ham and salad. The easier the better these days lol. How was your night last night? eta - must have posted at the same time - what a great nights sleep you had!!
Cally - boy you did have a rough night. How are you feeling now? I bet you're exhausted. Hannah woke at 10 last night and i put her back down at 11:15pm. She woke at 4am and then everyone woke at 6:30. Wasn't too bad though.
Pregpan - I have watched Project runway in the past. I'm waiting for the new show. I love watching America's next top model too.
Hayley - how are Maddies' eyes today?
noni - i'll gather my info on the tissues salts and let you know. eta ( if you google Martin and Pleasance Tissue Salts and go to the FAQ, it will give some info (is a little tricky for me to explain lol.) re solids - i'm not stressing about them too much yet. I did read the article on infant led feeding, so i'm attempting to give Hannah a little more finger food. This morning i gave her some pear, - it was a slippery little sucker!!!!. She screwed her nose up big time , even though i've given her tinned pureed pears before. She chewed on the crust from my toast this morning and loved it. I'm worried that she'll choke on it though, so i watch very closely.
hi Supa :)
renee - cooking in the slow cooker sounds like a great idea. I know there is a slow cooker thread, but i haven't got my act together yet.
md - hope you find a comfortable sling - lots of people seem to really love the Ergo, and they look like they'd be comfortable.
hi to everyone else, hope you all have a lovely weekend.
-
jazmum - is it ok to give them things like toast?? ive wondered about that...
-
noni - i wouldn't have normally given her toast at this age, but she grabbed it off me, so i let her have a little nibble of the crust. I kept a close eye on her too.
-
fair enough then lol i wont go making asha toast for breaky then lol i find myself struggling for ideas though she has the same thing alot of the time...
-
Noni I give Logan toast, I started off just giving him the crusts as they are harder for him to break off but now I just cut little soldiers for him. I always sit next to him and watch him closely. If he puts to much in his mouth he tends to spit it back out.
-
katie - does he actually eat it?? has he got teeth? i forget lol.. do u give him white bread? we only have multigrain atm lol.. mmmm all an interesting thought!!
-
Well its so strange, Maddie's snotty eye cleared up within the day, so thank god it wasnt conjunctivitis. Thanks for asking.
Guess what girls...I had laser hair removal today, extended bikini. I was so nervous, thinking it was going to kill, but it was NOTHING. Very proud of myself hehe.
The funniest thing happened this morning. I had Maddie sitting in her entertainer/play station thing, while I put on a load of washing. I came back and she had found an old mesh bag that I had forgotten about from the day before, that still had pear in it. There she was munching away on old pear and loving it!! Its so amazing how fast they grow and start to know about things. Even she knows her cot now, sometimes when we start to walk towards it she cries as if to say dont put me down!!
Noni - I'd go with wholemeal bread, white bread is rubbish. Maddie only has two meals a day, weetbix for brekky and vege mash for tea, along with 4 bottles a day. I also worry about over feeding her and I struggle for meal ideas for her too. I'm taking a few of pregpans lol.
Renee - I have been meaning to buy a slow cooker, everyone seems to rave about them. Must get one this weekend.
Katie - I've been there with the butchered brows, its terrible! Some of these girls must be getting their beauty diploma out of a weeties box!! (as my mum would say) Wow you are brave with the toast, I'm going to be brave this weekend as well and give it a go.
Supa - Glad to hear the teethies came through with not much trouble.
Pregpan - Cauliflower and carrot sounds delish! Will be giving that one a go. Where do you get your ideas? Dont you dare say off the top of your head hehe.
Marydean - My HAB went straight back on ebay, could not get the hang of it at all. And to top it off I bought it coming into summer, and in Perth it would have just been way too hot. & These days Maddie is getting a bit too heavy for the baby bjorn let alone the HAB.
Clare - How are you finding study and looking after bub? Are you a FT student or PT? The stokke chair looks so stylish!
Gracie - Hello love hows the weather today!? Hope no more trees are blowing down! When is your photo shoot? Lucky you having and ergo.
Jazmum - I find pear given as a finger food is slippery as well. Maddie loves it though.
Hello to Sherie and anyone else I've missed, have a great weekend.
-
Noni I don't eat white bread, we either give him wholemeal or multigrain, just depends what we have at the time. He eats some but mostly just has a good time playing with it and sucking on it. He doesnt have any teeth yet so he just gums it.
Hayley I want laser hair removal too, was it expensive? I used to have this IPL ( I think thats what it was called) it is like laser hair removal but not permanent.
