oh renee, that sux! poor little rory, give him a big kiss from me
arte- don't worry, lewis has no hair either...little baldies!
ive been helping asha with the crawling.. i'm a bit worried about her development so i thought she could do with a bit of help after all ive pretty much studied all of that stuff and had a few jobs in the area so i might as well use it lol.. i think its because shes too heavy lol little fatty if shes up on her hands and i help her lift her knees up she can stay there for a few secs kinda rocking and gets all happy and laughs but if she moves to up on her knees herself or i put her there when shes not already up on her hands she cant lift herself up without help... i hope she gets it soon i'm a bit worried noty about the fact that shes not crawling just at the fact shes not making alot of progress in certain areas without me helping her..
gosh renee thats awful!! how dare she drop poor rory and then laugh about it id be fuming too!!!
arte - wow thats nice of the playgroup leader to keep coming without being paid!! goodluck with the fundraising!!
pregpan - the one i got was from go lo and its supposed to be a naughts and crosses giant board lol it comes with giant naughts and crosses cut out of foam lol i bought another one today to make it a bit bigger :)
haley - yeah i looked in reject shop they didnt have it it dosnt matter i am happy with the one we got its orange and black squares not as colourful but it serves a purpose... wow thats interesting about maddie sitting.. Asha dosnt get to the sitting position unless i put her there lol so i dnt think its gonna happen soon lol..
Noni, try not to worry too much about what Asha is doing. It sounds like she is developing normally to me. Will can only stay on his hands and knees for a few seconds before he flops on to his belly and he can't get there himself - only if I put him there. Same for sitting, he has been doing it for months but still can't sit himself up if he is laying down. She has only just started going on hands and knees too, it takes a little bit of practice for them to build up the little muscles.
hi everyone
sorry for this selfish post, I'm at my wits end. My good little sleeper is turning into a nightmare!!! For the past week she has been so hard to get to sleep!! She's tired but fighting it with every muscle in her body. She's in her cot screaming at the moment, but i just need some time out. What makes it worse is that i have to get so much done today - we are heading up to Montville for the weekend (for a wedding) and i've got to get everything organised. It's been since i went on the pill. I hope there is no connection there.
once again , sorry for the selfishness. Might just have to keep her awake.
probably won't be on again until Sunday. Hope you all have a nice weekend.
JaZmum, hope she settles down for your holiday.
Hi Girls,
Well Xavier still has temps at night... WTF He got one at 3am this morning it was 38.7 so I gave him some panadol and nurafon and it took about an hour to come back down.... I took him to the dr the other day and he said it may be a virus... He is now on antibotics... I took Jordy to the paedatrician yesterday and he had to have an x-ray on his tummy to see how blocked up he is .. (I find the results out today from my dr) now he has some new poo medi to take.... Oh I hope this works...
Olivia Started daycare today and I just faxed though her daily guide... I hope she enjoys it. I must say I am not teary at all just feel nervous.. I sent Xavier to daycare yesterday and DH filled out there medication sheet for the antibiotics and I found out in the arvo that they gave him the wrong one... Well now DH is writing a letter and he is furious and so am I. Looks like no body read the sheet... (they gave him one of xaviers old ones that they told me they had thrown out. It was not out of date so I hope he will be ok -- now I am blaming myself for not checking that they chucked the old one)
The old one was amoxacillian and the one he is having now is called Kelfor so its totally different names... Why can they not read whats on there own medication sheets... WTF... Today I told them all that they are to make sure he gets whats written on his medication sheet. I threw the Amoxicillian out so hopefully they dont screw up today....
Better go and check up on Olivia....
Have a wonderful day to all
hi everyone
gotta be quick as my in laws have just landed so the invasion is about to begin...
N is having a sleep so hopefully he wil be nice and perky and happy when they arrive. I will let them do the lunch time solids feed, they will LOVE that!
Leeanne I am SO shocked by the medication mix up at day care - that is terrible! Have you spoken to the director about it? Gosh it is scary what happens. Not as bad as that but when i went to pick up N yesterday hos bottle had 200ml of formula in it - i am puzzled how that happened as i left containers with enough formula for 150ml??? the room leader couldnt expalin and said maybe they used someone else's formula? WTF.... I hope both boys are feeling better soon.
Noni I would not worry at all about Asha's development, they all do things at diff paces and she sounds like she is doing beautifully to me. Noah doesnt get on his hands and knees at all, is showing NO signs at all of crawling. he doesnt even roll from front to back. they all do things at dioff paces, i am sure she is doing things that others aren't. I am so sure you have nothing to worry about!
Arte - I will try to post some pics later or on sunday... i forgot to post any for so long! N has so much hair EVERY other baby just pulls it when they see him. his cousin seems to think he is the same as the pet cat! he pats him!
Renee - I am sure it was a nervous response from your friend. But how awful. I hope Rory is OK, i am sure he got lots of special cuddles and has forgotten all about it, you on the other hand wont forget for a long time!
hi to everyone else.
Leanne - OMG How on earth did they get the medication mixed up? Thats very very scary. I'd be furious too, I'm very interested as to what their response to the matter is. God that is shocking. Poor boys hope they are better soon. Its very strange that Xavier is getting these temps at night, I hope the antibiotics knock off whatever it is that he has got. Do your kids all attend the same daycare?
Jazmum - Oh no, I hope she settles down a bit for you soon! I wonder if it is the pill? Have a nice time at the wedding hopefully Hannah will be a good little girl.
Renee - Thats so sad, poor little Rory! I know she laughed but did she seem embarrassed? She obviously doesnt have kids if she dropped him like that!!
Noni - There have been times where I have worried about Maddie's development too. Asha sounds like she is on track though, she is very bright by the sounds of things. Maybe Asha is one that takes her time with things, I know Maddie is. I agree with the bigger baby theory, imagine having to lug all the rolls around lol no wonder they arent crawling! If it helps Maddie is no where near crawling, she is still mastering tummy time really. She doesnt pull herself into the sitting position from the floor, iykwim, I have to sit her up and then she can balance on her own from there. Very wobbly still. As a baby I was 'late' with everything. I didnt walk to 15/16 mths. Are you the same? I'm wondering if they take after their parents because it looks like Maddie will be much the same as me, as opposed to her father who took his first steps at 9 months!!
Arte - Bummer I hope your play leader can get paid soon, would be a shame for it to close down.
Pregpan - Maddie is exactly the same...a sit there and eat girl lol.
We had our first fall yesterday and I was horrified lol. She was sitting and she swayed too far to one side, fell down and collected her head on a coffee table as she went. I saw her falling and went to grab her, but too slow. She screamed for about a minute but then was fine after mummy cuddles. Oh it was so sad!
Hayley - Noah also sits but only if I put him in sitting position - he sounds EXACTLY the same as Miss M. I was a very slow crawler and walker but a fast talker and i think he is following in my foot steps (well not following foot steps if you get my drift). i think they all do things at diff rates, thats why there are averages!
HOw is your work going> and how is Miss M at daycare now?
Hayley- Yep they all go to the same one...
Renee- Hope Rory is ok today
Jazmum- I hope your Wedding at Montville is great. Bummer that Hannah is out of sorts at night.
Noni- Olivia is not crawling either although she does slither backwards. Dont worry Asha is fine and she will do it when she is ready.
just put asha in bed and she didnt look very happy about it lol fingers crossed..
lol dp didnt even notice the earings and i didnteven throw the bag out lol i will today though i changed my earings before bed and he said what are u doing? i said putting my earings back in and he said why did u take them out and i said i was wearing different ones and he said ohh fair enough then lmao!!
though last night dp said he dosnt feel like hes getting enough rest when he gets home!!! like he shouldnt have to do things like wash up or make bottles or iron his own clothes because when he comes home from work he should be able to rest.. poor blossom is tired.. welcome to my world buddy if he dosnt do those things that means i am supposed to be going 24/7 alone?? its not like he wakes up at 1:30am to feed her with this new bloody routine shes developed.. or gets up to shush her when she cries oh i am sooo mad!!!
leanne - id be fuming if i was u they could get in big trouble for that!! i mean what if he was allergic to the other antibiotic?? besides that with a medication sheet 2 people have to sign off that it is the right amount of the right medication so theres actually probably 2 people at fault unless they arent following correct procedure!!
haley - asha is 8.4kgs now idk if shes big or not lol some ppl say shes huge and other ppl say shes tiny i know i think shes heavy when i carry her around so i suppose its hard for her to carry herself lol..
pregpan - a little girl in the shop yesterday (maybe almost 3?) asked me if she could pat asha lol..
anyway g2g asha is winging in her cot and the house looks like a bomb hit it!!
Hi Ladies! wow it seems so much has happened in the last 24 hours here!
Leanne: i would be FURIOUS! man i was angry that they had a really sick baby at leila's care last week (lots of coughing and sneezing), let alone mixing up the meds! that's just not acceptable. i would definitely put in a written complaint and i would demand an apology. ggrrrrrr. it's so frustrating because you have to put your trust in these people! we have a whole lot of new staff ATM nobody has told us what happened to the old staff, so i have had to spend 1/2 hour today giving them all of leilas instructions...not happy jan!
MD: thanks for the good luck vibes! the paper went well enough. the people were really interested and gave some great feedback on my research.
man i am so impressed with all you ladies going clothes shopping. i walk in there, see the clothes then freak out about trying them on and walk back out again!! LOL maybe it's the thought of seeing me struggle to get jeans on under fluro lights!
Renee: eeekkk! that fall would have freaked me out too! and yeah, i think it was a nervous reaction. somehting similar happened to leila when she was 4 months old. a friend went to lay her back down on her back and forgot that she didnt have great head control and CRACK! leila also went ballistic (with tears!). the person also laughed, but i could see he was devastated so i didnt push it!
JazMum: i have heard a few times that a change in our hormones can make the bubs unsettled. this can be from the pill and also from our AF returning. my midwife tells me that it can take a good week for them to get used to the change in taste. hang in there!!
Art: hmmm i must find hair ties. leila has loads of hair but i have tried anything exciting yet! your story has inspired me! however i too am waiting on the eye colour...when does that happen?? some babies in my group have already got theirs and they are much younger!! not fair!!
ha ha i am sure that duck a-la- shot gun pellets is scrumptious!! lorenzo organised a romantic dinner last night so he took me out to, yes, you guessed it, an italian restaurant! lol...actually it was really nice and it was also our first night out together alone since leila was born.
Hayley: whadda mean not much food??!!! QUICHE!!! OMG i soooo need to come to your mothers group!! LOL!! that is soo impressive. i can make toast.
Noni: leila isnt crawling yet either. she sits up and i think that ATM she is just so proud of herself for doing that that she is content to not move.
anyway best be off...gotta go to the library and look busy.
p.s. i bought a 'taggie' book yesterday for leila and she LOVES it! i noticed last week that she only plays with the tags on her toys, and then i came across a book full of tags for babies!! they've thought of everything havent they!!
Hi everyone,
Quick question for you all, how do you organise your bubs draws? Is buy size or type of clothes? I am just about to go through and clean out Logans draws and just wondered how everyone else organises theirs.
cassius2- They kept apologising to me yesterday. I just dont understand if it was written clearly and I mean my DH hand writing is really clear for a man and he writed in block capitals. I am thinking they didnt even read the medication sheet. When Olivia started today I typed out a day plan for Olivia so they all know what she does during the day. I just hope they stick it up somewhere whey they can all read it. Gezzzz I hope they read it.
Katie- my kids draws are by size and like all shirts and dressing hang up and shorts and other stuff are in the draws.
hi ladies! back from holidays. just popping in to say hello and i've missed everyone. trip was quite hectic and tiring that i now need a holiday. won't stay on as the house looks like it's been hit by a bomb and i REALLY need to get heaps of washing done.
cassius2, where did you find the "taggie" book? what brand? max is the same, she just LOVES the tags of everything.
anyway, gotta go before i feel and guiltier. will try to keep up with the posts but will definitely not be trying to read up on 3 weeks worth of posts. (hard enough with a day or 2).
hope you have a good time in montville jazmum. i really like the place. so quaint.
leanne, i'd be fuming over the wrong meds given. not a thing to be mistaken lightly.
renee, hugs to rory. hope he's fine after the fall.
i made like a rice pudding for asha today and she loved it :) got the idea by looking at ingredients on some of the baby food jars she likes lol.. i put brown rice, a little full cream milk powder, water, apple and cinamon and she absolutely loved it :) good thing is i can make it different each time with diff fruits added in :)
well i'm half way through the housework lol just realised i hadnt eaten lunch yet and dnt know when i will have time lol..
katie - i need to do ashas draws too i usually have the top three draws for clothes she wears now and the bottom two for ones that are two big.. so top one singlets socks and hats, next one down atm is winter clothes and next one summer clothes i have practical and impractical more dressy stuff on opposite sides..
cassius - i saw thos taggies things when i was pregnant and wondered what the hell do they need that for lol but now that i have a baby it all makes sence lol..
hello ladies,
selfish post here * but need to vent a bit
lewis had his first swimming lesson today, and the actual lesson went great, he loved it and was splashing and having a ball....but then we all got out of the pool (10 ladies and bubs) all dripping wet and there was one changetable! that's right, one!!
it was crazy, and another class of kids finished at the same time, so the changing room was packed..you couldn't even get in the door!
so anyway, i found a bit of park bench outside and lay my towel down on it and managed to change lewis out of his swim nappy and boardies into his normal clothes, all while he's crying mind you..but then i had no chance of changing myself. what was i supposed to do? rip my soaking wet bathers off in the middle of everyone all while i'm holding a baby?? it was ridiculous! there was just nowhere to put the bubs down.
anyway, i ended up just chucking my dress over the top of my wet bathers just so that i could hold lewis for a while to calm him down. after a couple of minutes of walking him around he was fine so i went to check on my friend who was in the change room. i walked in and all you could hear was babies screaming. it was hectic!
my poor friend was standing there in her bikini dripping wet and her dd was screaming. it was horrible. my friend looked like she was about to cry herself so i put lewis on my hip and grabbed her dd in my other arm just so my friend could at least put some pants on. her dd was bawling by this stage and all these other mums were walking past giving me dirty looks. i wanted to tell them to f*** off!
anyway, i ended up driving home with a towel on my seat and my bathers still on. what a joke!
i understand they are a public pool but surely they could have better resources than that. they shouldn't hold a class with 10 babies if they can't provide the facilities needed!!
anyway, my friend complained and they reckon they're going to clean out a staff room and make a bench for us. if not, i'll be asking for a full refund and going somewhere else. it was just way too stressfull
thanks for the vent everyone!! sorry for essay
leanne- i would be so mad if i was you, that's just wrong!
fianne- great to hear from you :)
Just a quicky from me - I swore I posted yesterday, but the gremlins must have taken it.
Anyway, teething again here so A is completely beside himself about it all, plus having his needles yesterday didn't help either - the needles were OK, he didn't cry at all but just the usual discomfort etc afterwards. So it's just fun fun fun here ATM.
Marydean, yesterday in Woolies I brought some rice rusks for Alister - they are a 'Baby Mum Mum' brand and look like a giant oval shaped rice cracker. Not hard like a teething rusk, but not too bad as a biscuit - might be an alternative for Miss E.
Noni, if you are still after a spill mat, Playgro brand does one specifically for use under high chairs - they were at woolies too and were about $13.
Brought a funky little backpack for Alister today just to downsize the nappy bag a bit for when we are out to dinner etc instead of having the nappy bag either hanging off the back of the stroller or fine somewhere out of the way under the table to put it.
Vaccinations here today. He is already red-cheeked and grumpy. A dose of panadol has him feeling better for now though. The NZ schedule is different to the Aust one so there was a bit of mucking around. He doesn't get the pneumococcal or rotavirus, but does get the Meningitis B.
Gracie, it really pays to take a stroller in to the pool with you so you can change him in there and also gives you somewhere to put him while you get changed. None of the pools I have been to have had good baby facilities. Hope it is better for you (and your friend) next week. We went to the pool today after the vaccinations and found out about lessons so we will be starting again next friday
Fianne, good to see you back. Hope your holiday was good, bet your sister was happy to see Max
aarrrggghhhh...i totally forgot that we were supposed to get max her 6-month shots this week while dh (yup! we did get hitched in vegas) was still on holidays from work. didn't remember until i read about the other bub's shots. i knew i should've gotten on bb sooner. would've remembered.
holiday was good but too hectic. not enough time for anything. came home a bit upset coz' i didn't really get to spend as much "catching up" time with my sisters coz' i was always too busy with max. it's really a wonder how much of our time she takes up. and when she's out for the night, because she was sleeping on our bed, we ended up going to bed with her rather than staying up and chatting. partly due to my paranoia of her falling off (she can "manhandle" the pillows that we use to keep her in) and partly because i'm just absolutely exhausted.
we had decided to drive from washington state to san francisco and then on to vegas and then to los angeles. not easy driving so much with a baby who totally dislikes being in the car. car seat laws there required me to keep her facing backwards and she didn't like that. every trip was a struggle. i had nephews and nieces sitting in the back with her to entertain her. bought toys and cd's to amuse (on top of what i'd already brought with me). also bought her a dvd player (good deal) for the car. very stressful for me but then, we survived.
some plane tips for all....(1) if they offer you a whole row of seats but way at the back, don't take it. the flight from bne was so rough because we were in the back. she was so unsettled. (2) try to book night flights. flight left bne at 11 am so max wasn't interested in sleep. left l.a. at 11pm and she slept for 2/3's of the trip home.
some pointers on the u.s.....(1) they don't carry the same formula (for those who aren't breastfeeding) so if you want to keep the same brand, you've gotta bring your own. (2) nappies are better in aus. the huggies i got was just like the snugglers ones here. was so upset coz' i always worried about leaks and actually had a few too. and because i assumed that it would be the same as huggies here, i got a big bag and because i didn't want to waste it just kept using it. pampers brand was a bit better i think. recommend to buy small packs to try before buying big pack. (3) if you've got family (or friends) there, buying 2nd hand car seat and stroller saves having to lug it there and back. got mine for US$25. used it for 3 weeks and left it behind at my sisters to dispose of. also got a porta-cot but max didn't take to it so didn't bother carting it around the u.s. with us. (4) they public places (malls, etc) aren't as baby friendly as they are here. not many (if any) family/parent rooms. usually only find those drop-down change tables. sometimes, not even that. didn't see a single parent room with a microwave to heat formula or chair to breastfeed on.
my mum, sisters, brother, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and aunties were all fighting to cuddle max. poor baby was so overwhelmed at times. became extremely clingy. dh was a bit upset at the start coz' she didn't want anyone but me at one stage. even he didn't do. my sister reckons that there was just too many strangers and she turned to the only constant (24/7) in her life which was me. on the upside, had heaps of babysitters....when she was happy to stay with them.
gracie, can see why that would upset you. i think that they should provide ESPECIALLY SINCE IT'S a public pool. gov't wants more babies so should provide conveniences for having them. will have to look into swimming classes for max now that we're not due to go anywhere for a while.
trillian, hope alister's feeling better.
noni, sounds like asha is getting a culinary feast. :) just a question, is it ok to use full cream milk powder? just something that chn said a few weeks back when i did the time to eat session in brisbane. i think that dairy products were supposed to be introduced at around 9-months. and need to be "normal" ones (not low fat type) because the other types have got sugar and other stuff to make them taste better.
katie, just did a bit of a cleanup of max's clothes too. bought heaps of clothes but in different sizes so had to organize it into the closet. the big stuff i just put together by size. the current ones i've got by types. top drawer has long sleeved ones and have different piles for the shirts and onesies (the ones with buttons at the bottom) and jammies, second drawer has singlets, short sleeved onesies, short sleeved shirts and pants. jackets are in the closet on hangers together with dresses and anything else that doesn't go with anything in the drawers.
ok, gotta run. house isn't any better than what it was when i posted this morning. :( i wish that there was a cleaning/organizing fairy who'd put everything away and wash all the clothes at the snap of the fingers.
Fianne did you get married while you were on holiday? Congratulations thats fantastic.
Logan is crawling properly now, it only took about a week. I cant believe how quickly they learn to do things.
I will try and jump on tomorrow for personals, I am super tired tonight.
katie, yes, we got married in vegas. thought that it was about time to make max legitimate. he he he. dh wanted it "vegas style" and rented an elvis costume. got my outfit from an op shop together with a denim hat with peace sign on it. asked people to come in 70's but it wasn't as "costume-ish" as it would've seemed just coz' retro is in fashion.
hello everyone :)
asha can sit by herself now haha well not for long but when she loses balance she puts her arms down to hold herself up funny how i was just complaining about her not doing anything and she does that... still not crawling but shes getting there ive been helping her alot with different things playing with her on the floor and shes really coming along..
sherie - ohhh needles lol thanks for reminding me!!! i almost forgot again and asha is already overdue!!
arte - thats interesting how the vacc schedule is different.. is that just the lower incidence of certain bugs etc over there?
katie - wow well done logan!!!
fianne - milk powder was on the ingredients of a jar of food that was marked 4-6mths thats where i got the idea from.. there wasnt very much of it in the whole recipe only about 5 tea spoons in almost half a packet of rice and i bought the full fat milk powder not the skim one.. if u wanted to make it but were worried i suppose u could use formula maybe??
Fianne that is sooooo cool. Was Max at the wedding too?
Noni woo hoo on Asha sitting, you watch before you know it she will be able to sit and look around with out falling, it all happens so quickly.
Arte how was Will last night after his needles?
Sherie how is Alister? Poor little mite having needles and teething.
Gracie thats so silly not having enough facilities for changing bub's after swimming.
Cas where did you get the taggies book?
Leanne I would have been so angry at the childcare centre
Hayley Logan has had a couple of tumbles and once when we were at a cafe with friends he was standing on DH's lap and then all of a sudden just sort of folded in half and hit his head on the table...really hard. He was fine as soon as I cuddled him, man is it scary though.
I cant remember anything else I was going to write so hi to everyone else.
Congratulations Fianne and DH on your Vegas wedding :confetti: Wishing you many years of happiness together! :D :D :D
Leanne, I can't believe the stuff up at Daycare, definitely talk to the Director about it because that is not on and all the staff in that room need to be given a good talking too...what if he'd been taken off that medicine for having a reaction to it then they gave it to him again?! I had a stuff up at OSHC where they couldn't find H's paperwork - this is despite the fact that she has a heart murmur and needs very specific treatment if she were ever injured...also when she broke her arm the school rang about 4 numbers that were "in her record" on the computer that were numbers I had never given them, finally they rang my work number.
Sherie, thanks for that, I will look out for them but TBH I am not holding my breath because the Ws here are completely hopeless...I nearly wet myself with pleasure when I went shopping with my sister in Adelaide, they just have so many more brands and choices over there. LOL
Arte that would've been a headache re the different schedules. Hope he's feeling better, I've booked E to get done at the dr's on Monday while DH is still here.
Katie, re the clothes, I have them sorted into types and summer/winter (cos our weather is so changeable here). So top drawer - socks, bibs & facewashers, next pyjamas and onesies, next summer tops and bottoms, next winter tops and bottoms, and in the very bottom drawer I have outer layers (ie jackets, cardigans) plus a few things in the next size up that I've bought and just stashed there. We're at that tricky stage where some of the 00s are too small, some still fit but the 0s are kind of too big just yet. I have a box under the change table where I put things once they are too small so it happens progressively.
ETA Cally I've been thinking about you all week and am dying to hear how it went!
CONGRATULATIONS FIANNE!!!!!! Wow a Vegas wedding, how darn cool is that!!
Katie - Congrats on Logan crawling :) After a WEEK, thats really quick! What a clever one. Rory is still comando crawling after being up on his hands and knees for over a month now.
Rory is saying Nanna! My mum has been drumming it into his head for days so she is over the moon hahaha.
Ive got a Hens night tonight. Instead of going out we are having a party with topless waiters, smoke machines, juke box, disco lights, ****tails, games etc. Rory is having a boys night in with dad. Its fancy dress and im going as a nurse ;)
Well im off to read all the posts again because as usuallll im lost!
Congrats Fianne!!!! that would have been very cool - I would love to see a pic of you dressed in your wedding livery. What did you dress Max in?
Cally, are you home yet? How did it go?
Marydean, if you can't find any I could get some and send them to you? Or alternatively, arnotts make a rice cookie too. They have a hole in the middle of them, but they go mushy pretty quick, they aren't a 'hard' biccy like arrowroot ones.
Alister is not too bad now. had a better night sleep last night at least.
Hi to everyone else, I should be doing washing but am on here instead LOL, so only a quick one.
just a quick one Asha is saying dad and dada now :) yay Asha haha its all happening at once here shes gettin really good at sitting now too :)
Hi Ladies! and Hello Fianne and CONGRATULATIONS on the nuptials!! thanks for the travel tips as we are off to italy to visit the rellos in august...need as much advice as possible!! was thinking of buying a cheapie stroller here, but buying one there is soo much better!
Well here today has been a bit hectic. leila is very clingy for some reason and only wants to be bf!! this is the child who yesterday ate her way through 2-3 bowls of food for brekkie, lunch and dinner!! egad! she keeps me guessing. AND she has been hard to settle. normally i pop her in her cot and away she goes, today there were all kinds of hysterics...arrghhh! not sure what to make of it.
sorry for the vent...
i got the taggies book from a bookstore in melbourne called 'readings' it's in north carlton. what genius! each tag is different in texture, colour and size so it keeps her guessing! there is a website taggies.com that sells all their products. the blanket is meant to be the real hit...
that is so cool that asha is not only sitting but also making sounds!! we are still waiting on all the blabbering. it must be so fun to watch!
katie: loving the crawling!! they must be so excited when they work it out!
renee: have fun at the hens!!
trillian: will have to buy that mat!! leila is becoming ever more messy at the table LOL! it's like she is creating some art installation on the floor...
LOL Clare @ art installation! The taggies sounds like fun, I saw something similar somewhere but now I can't remember where...(story of my life, can't remember *anything* these days).
Noni that's really exciting about Asha saying dada - oooh I can't wait...I'm still trying to train E to say mumumumum first but so far no luck LOL.
Sherie I think we're just about ready to give the wheat a go anyway. I've had the rice biscuits, remember them from 1st time round with H!
Did I tell you all my ergo arrived - I love it but need the extension strap to have it a bit lower on my hips. The day after I bought it though a nearly new one in the black and green was listed on ebay (*stamps foot*) - I should have waited. See I broke my "never pay full price" motto and look what happens! LOL There are lots on ebay now if anyone's looking, just make sure you get the new sort with the short hood straps that snap onto the shoulders directly.
Went highchair shopping this arvo...already have one but want another cheapie so I don't have to drag the other one back and forth. *Sigh* I know about the ikea ones so now I want one but I'm not sure if it's really worth the 7 hour round trip AND the tank of petrol to get it.
hey everyone :)
i am soooo tired!! we played the best team in the comp in netball today and got our asses kicked lol.. they won by 12 points they were alot fitter than us lol we got so tired plus we had no substitutions today and they had 2 lol ahhh well it was still a good work out!!!
md - i was trying with the mumumumum mumma too lol but she got so close to dada that i started concentrating on that coz i just wanted her to say something!! damn 7 hours to ikea do ebay have any???
cassius - id imagine a taggies nlanket would be a hit!! i hope leila has settled for u now :)
fianne - ment to say congrats :) :confetti:
ahhh MD i am guessing that you are living in chilly canberra?! we moved from there recently and yes, i remember the crazy 'day trips' to sydney for various things...including for our pup stella...i remember always dreaming of an ikea when we were there. i heard rumours that they wanted to build one, but i think that was started by the local gov to keep us there for a bit longer LOL!
and too true: my memory is also shot...i must look so vague at uni...
dont you just love the ergo?! what colour did you get? i got the black and green one when i was living in canberra from bub hub in fyshwick. it was the only one available and then when i saw the all green one i was fuming i didnt get that!! lol!
thanks noni! well she is a little better. she ate her dinner and had a bit of a feed and is now in bed. did a bit of complaining for 5 minutes but hopefully that will be the last we hear of her for the night!! fingers crossed!:D
congrats fianne!
you guys rock, i love the elvis outfit. well done!
Fianne - Wow congratulations!!! What a cool way to get married. What a holiday! Are you originally from the US? We are going o/seas later this year, are you actually allowed to take formula out of the country? Do you know about solid foods in jars? Good travel tips!
Clare - Maddie is the same (well was the same) as Leila. I can put her in the cot and she will drift off on her own, but for the past week she has been extra clingy. Wants to be cuddled to sleep every night. Maybe its an age thing? Lucky you getting to go to Italy. Thats one place I'd love to visit one day.
Noni - Well done to Asha on the sitting and talking! Sounds like Asha and Maddie are on the same wavelength, with Maddie mastering sitting this past week & also tonight DP and I both swear that she said mum mum for a second when she was crying.
Marydean - OMG dont bother with the 7 hr trip, what a mission lol. Lucky you with your Ergo!
Renee - Have fun at the hens night!! I was invited to one tonight as well but decided not to go. Dont know why...they are having a stripper and I've never seen one before. I'd probably go bright red anyway lol!
Katie - I actually need to go through Maddies drawers as she still has 000 clothing in there WHOOPS! I have a summer drawer up top which holds t shirts, shorts/skirts, singlets and onesies. Then a wintery drawer that holds pants, jumpers, wondersuits etc.
Gracie - Thats ridiculous that they cant offer better facilities. Your poor friend! I hope they do something about it for you all.
Arte - How is Will today after his needles?
Sherie - How are Alisters teeth going? The poor thing
I bought a few of the heinz baby custards today. This is the first time that I have given her jarred food. I prefer to make all her purees, but I figure custard is easier to buy. Havent tried one yet, but I bet she will love it!
Hello Ladies, my name is Leigh. Our gorgeous little cherub arrived 5th Sept 07. So I hope you don't mind me coming in here.. Ruby was c/s delivery, and is now enjoying many solids! We are currrently up to our ankles in dribble (no teeth yet) and I am enjoying all the new sounds that she is making..
I have a DS who is 9 so it's been a while for me.. It has been a very different experience if I compare them both... I had forgotten SO much.
Anyway, I'll keep it short. Looking forward to getting to know you and your lovely LO's... :D
Hi Leigh and welcome!!!! I love the name Ruby, such a rich and vibrant name. I'm looking forward to getting to know you too :)
Alister is fine now, so I think the teething fairy (or witch in this case ;) ) has gone for a while. Although we have made some big advancements yesterday - he can now get into our office - the office and master bedroom isnt part of the original house, so it is higher at floor level and there is a 8inch step to get into it - and Alister mastered getting up it. So now he can come in here if I am in here (or even if I'm not LOL), but his dismount leaves a lot to be desired.
hi leigh and welcome - Ruby is one of my fave girls names - looking fwd to getting to know you both
gotta be quick - but i uploaded a few recent pics of Noah on my totsite... i hadnt updated since November (!!) so no doubt you will notice some changes!
back later girls.
Pregpan, I just checked out the new piccies and OMG! What a beautiful boy Noah is! I am soooo jealous of those dark curls. And I have to ask - where did you get the top with the tractor on it?
Hi ladies, I'm so proud of myself, I've got a bun in the oven...!
Well, actually it's not a bun really, it's a loaf (LOL) but it's one of the first times I've been organised enough to get into the kitchen in the daytime to bake so it's a little MD milestone there.
Leafy Leigh, welcome! *snap* on the 9 yo older sibling, I have a DD who's 9 and I agree it's surprising how much you forget. I guess on the positive side I've got more perspective now, I know how brief those early intensive labour baby years are, so it's much easier to cope when the going's a bit tough! It gets pretty chatty in here so make sure you jump right in when you can!
Clare, yep, the delights of the nation's capital...LOL. We've been up to Sydeneee a few times, as we have friends in the Gong so we spend the arvo/evening with them and then come home. I just get a bit rattled if the traffic's heavy. That's funny about the colour of your ergo, I quite like the black and green but ABA didn't have them (I didn't even think about going into Fyshwick LOL) so I've got the cranberry. I'm just happy to have one before DH leaves next week.
BTW, I love the taggies and am thinking of making one for Elisabeth, it'd take all of a shopping trip to Lincraft and an hour's sewing...I can do that! :)
Pregpan, lovely photos of Noah!
Sherie LOL at A's dismount! Still no forward movement at hte Betty Station...goes backwards pretty efficiently though. She seems more settled during the day now, though (hence my baking). I wonder how much the solids is contributing to this. Fingers crossed this is the start of a good trend.
