cassius2- They kept apologising to me yesterday. I just dont understand if it was written clearly and I mean my DH hand writing is really clear for a man and he writed in block capitals. I am thinking they didnt even read the medication sheet. When Olivia started today I typed out a day plan for Olivia so they all know what she does during the day. I just hope they stick it up somewhere whey they can all read it. Gezzzz I hope they read it.
Katie- my kids draws are by size and like all shirts and dressing hang up and shorts and other stuff are in the draws.

hi ladies! back from holidays. just popping in to say hello and i've missed everyone. trip was quite hectic and tiring that i now need a holiday. won't stay on as the house looks like it's been hit by a bomb and i REALLY need to get heaps of washing done.
cassius2, where did you find the "taggie" book? what brand? max is the same, she just LOVES the tags of everything.
anyway, gotta go before i feel and guiltier. will try to keep up with the posts but will definitely not be trying to read up on 3 weeks worth of posts. (hard enough with a day or 2).
hope you have a good time in montville jazmum. i really like the place. so quaint.
leanne, i'd be fuming over the wrong meds given. not a thing to be mistaken lightly.
renee, hugs to rory. hope he's fine after the fall.

i made like a rice pudding for asha today and she loved it :) got the idea by looking at ingredients on some of the baby food jars she likes lol.. i put brown rice, a little full cream milk powder, water, apple and cinamon and she absolutely loved it :) good thing is i can make it different each time with diff fruits added in :)
well i'm half way through the housework lol just realised i hadnt eaten lunch yet and dnt know when i will have time lol..
katie - i need to do ashas draws too i usually have the top three draws for clothes she wears now and the bottom two for ones that are two big.. so top one singlets socks and hats, next one down atm is winter clothes and next one summer clothes i have practical and impractical more dressy stuff on opposite sides..
cassius - i saw thos taggies things when i was pregnant and wondered what the hell do they need that for lol but now that i have a baby it all makes sence lol..

hello ladies,
selfish post here * but need to vent a bit
lewis had his first swimming lesson today, and the actual lesson went great, he loved it and was splashing and having a ball....but then we all got out of the pool (10 ladies and bubs) all dripping wet and there was one changetable! that's right, one!!
it was crazy, and another class of kids finished at the same time, so the changing room was packed..you couldn't even get in the door!
so anyway, i found a bit of park bench outside and lay my towel down on it and managed to change lewis out of his swim nappy and boardies into his normal clothes, all while he's crying mind you..but then i had no chance of changing myself. what was i supposed to do? rip my soaking wet bathers off in the middle of everyone all while i'm holding a baby?? it was ridiculous! there was just nowhere to put the bubs down.
anyway, i ended up just chucking my dress over the top of my wet bathers just so that i could hold lewis for a while to calm him down. after a couple of minutes of walking him around he was fine so i went to check on my friend who was in the change room. i walked in and all you could hear was babies screaming. it was hectic!
my poor friend was standing there in her bikini dripping wet and her dd was screaming. it was horrible. my friend looked like she was about to cry herself so i put lewis on my hip and grabbed her dd in my other arm just so my friend could at least put some pants on. her dd was bawling by this stage and all these other mums were walking past giving me dirty looks. i wanted to tell them to f*** off!
anyway, i ended up driving home with a towel on my seat and my bathers still on. what a joke!
i understand they are a public pool but surely they could have better resources than that. they shouldn't hold a class with 10 babies if they can't provide the facilities needed!!
anyway, my friend complained and they reckon they're going to clean out a staff room and make a bench for us. if not, i'll be asking for a full refund and going somewhere else. it was just way too stressfull
thanks for the vent everyone!! sorry for essay
leanne- i would be so mad if i was you, that's just wrong!
fianne- great to hear from you :)

Just a quicky from me - I swore I posted yesterday, but the gremlins must have taken it.
Anyway, teething again here so A is completely beside himself about it all, plus having his needles yesterday didn't help either - the needles were OK, he didn't cry at all but just the usual discomfort etc afterwards. So it's just fun fun fun here ATM.
Marydean, yesterday in Woolies I brought some rice rusks for Alister - they are a 'Baby Mum Mum' brand and look like a giant oval shaped rice cracker. Not hard like a teething rusk, but not too bad as a biscuit - might be an alternative for Miss E.
Noni, if you are still after a spill mat, Playgro brand does one specifically for use under high chairs - they were at woolies too and were about $13.
Brought a funky little backpack for Alister today just to downsize the nappy bag a bit for when we are out to dinner etc instead of having the nappy bag either hanging off the back of the stroller or fine somewhere out of the way under the table to put it.
-
Vaccinations here today. He is already red-cheeked and grumpy. A dose of panadol has him feeling better for now though. The NZ schedule is different to the Aust one so there was a bit of mucking around. He doesn't get the pneumococcal or rotavirus, but does get the Meningitis B.
Gracie, it really pays to take a stroller in to the pool with you so you can change him in there and also gives you somewhere to put him while you get changed. None of the pools I have been to have had good baby facilities. Hope it is better for you (and your friend) next week. We went to the pool today after the vaccinations and found out about lessons so we will be starting again next friday
Fianne, good to see you back. Hope your holiday was good, bet your sister was happy to see Max

aarrrggghhhh...i totally forgot that we were supposed to get max her 6-month shots this week while dh (yup! we did get hitched in vegas) was still on holidays from work. didn't remember until i read about the other bub's shots. i knew i should've gotten on bb sooner. would've remembered.
holiday was good but too hectic. not enough time for anything. came home a bit upset coz' i didn't really get to spend as much "catching up" time with my sisters coz' i was always too busy with max. it's really a wonder how much of our time she takes up. and when she's out for the night, because she was sleeping on our bed, we ended up going to bed with her rather than staying up and chatting. partly due to my paranoia of her falling off (she can "manhandle" the pillows that we use to keep her in) and partly because i'm just absolutely exhausted.
we had decided to drive from washington state to san francisco and then on to vegas and then to los angeles. not easy driving so much with a baby who totally dislikes being in the car. car seat laws there required me to keep her facing backwards and she didn't like that. every trip was a struggle. i had nephews and nieces sitting in the back with her to entertain her. bought toys and cd's to amuse (on top of what i'd already brought with me). also bought her a dvd player (good deal) for the car. very stressful for me but then, we survived.
some plane tips for all....(1) if they offer you a whole row of seats but way at the back, don't take it. the flight from bne was so rough because we were in the back. she was so unsettled. (2) try to book night flights. flight left bne at 11 am so max wasn't interested in sleep. left l.a. at 11pm and she slept for 2/3's of the trip home.
some pointers on the u.s.....(1) they don't carry the same formula (for those who aren't breastfeeding) so if you want to keep the same brand, you've gotta bring your own. (2) nappies are better in aus. the huggies i got was just like the snugglers ones here. was so upset coz' i always worried about leaks and actually had a few too. and because i assumed that it would be the same as huggies here, i got a big bag and because i didn't want to waste it just kept using it. pampers brand was a bit better i think. recommend to buy small packs to try before buying big pack. (3) if you've got family (or friends) there, buying 2nd hand car seat and stroller saves having to lug it there and back. got mine for US$25. used it for 3 weeks and left it behind at my sisters to dispose of. also got a porta-cot but max didn't take to it so didn't bother carting it around the u.s. with us. (4) they public places (malls, etc) aren't as baby friendly as they are here. not many (if any) family/parent rooms. usually only find those drop-down change tables. sometimes, not even that. didn't see a single parent room with a microwave to heat formula or chair to breastfeed on.
my mum, sisters, brother, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and aunties were all fighting to cuddle max. poor baby was so overwhelmed at times. became extremely clingy. dh was a bit upset at the start coz' she didn't want anyone but me at one stage. even he didn't do. my sister reckons that there was just too many strangers and she turned to the only constant (24/7) in her life which was me. on the upside, had heaps of babysitters....when she was happy to stay with them.
gracie, can see why that would upset you. i think that they should provide ESPECIALLY SINCE IT'S a public pool. gov't wants more babies so should provide conveniences for having them. will have to look into swimming classes for max now that we're not due to go anywhere for a while.
trillian, hope alister's feeling better.
noni, sounds like asha is getting a culinary feast. :) just a question, is it ok to use full cream milk powder? just something that chn said a few weeks back when i did the time to eat session in brisbane. i think that dairy products were supposed to be introduced at around 9-months. and need to be "normal" ones (not low fat type) because the other types have got sugar and other stuff to make them taste better.
katie, just did a bit of a cleanup of max's clothes too. bought heaps of clothes but in different sizes so had to organize it into the closet. the big stuff i just put together by size. the current ones i've got by types. top drawer has long sleeved ones and have different piles for the shirts and onesies (the ones with buttons at the bottom) and jammies, second drawer has singlets, short sleeved onesies, short sleeved shirts and pants. jackets are in the closet on hangers together with dresses and anything else that doesn't go with anything in the drawers.
ok, gotta run. house isn't any better than what it was when i posted this morning. :( i wish that there was a cleaning/organizing fairy who'd put everything away and wash all the clothes at the snap of the fingers.

Fianne did you get married while you were on holiday? Congratulations thats fantastic.
Logan is crawling properly now, it only took about a week. I cant believe how quickly they learn to do things.
I will try and jump on tomorrow for personals, I am super tired tonight.
-
katie, yes, we got married in vegas. thought that it was about time to make max legitimate. he he he. dh wanted it "vegas style" and rented an elvis costume. got my outfit from an op shop together with a denim hat with peace sign on it. asked people to come in 70's but it wasn't as "costume-ish" as it would've seemed just coz' retro is in fashion.
-
hello everyone :)
asha can sit by herself now haha well not for long but when she loses balance she puts her arms down to hold herself up funny how i was just complaining about her not doing anything and she does that... still not crawling but shes getting there ive been helping her alot with different things playing with her on the floor and shes really coming along..
sherie - ohhh needles lol thanks for reminding me!!! i almost forgot again and asha is already overdue!!
arte - thats interesting how the vacc schedule is different.. is that just the lower incidence of certain bugs etc over there?
katie - wow well done logan!!!
fianne - milk powder was on the ingredients of a jar of food that was marked 4-6mths thats where i got the idea from.. there wasnt very much of it in the whole recipe only about 5 tea spoons in almost half a packet of rice and i bought the full fat milk powder not the skim one.. if u wanted to make it but were worried i suppose u could use formula maybe??
-
Fianne that is sooooo cool. Was Max at the wedding too?
Noni woo hoo on Asha sitting, you watch before you know it she will be able to sit and look around with out falling, it all happens so quickly.
Arte how was Will last night after his needles?
Sherie how is Alister? Poor little mite having needles and teething.
Gracie thats so silly not having enough facilities for changing bub's after swimming.
Cas where did you get the taggies book?
Leanne I would have been so angry at the childcare centre
Hayley Logan has had a couple of tumbles and once when we were at a cafe with friends he was standing on DH's lap and then all of a sudden just sort of folded in half and hit his head on the table...really hard. He was fine as soon as I cuddled him, man is it scary though.
I cant remember anything else I was going to write so hi to everyone else.
-
Congratulations Fianne and DH on your Vegas wedding :confetti: Wishing you many years of happiness together! :D :D :D
Leanne, I can't believe the stuff up at Daycare, definitely talk to the Director about it because that is not on and all the staff in that room need to be given a good talking too...what if he'd been taken off that medicine for having a reaction to it then they gave it to him again?! I had a stuff up at OSHC where they couldn't find H's paperwork - this is despite the fact that she has a heart murmur and needs very specific treatment if she were ever injured...also when she broke her arm the school rang about 4 numbers that were "in her record" on the computer that were numbers I had never given them, finally they rang my work number.
Sherie, thanks for that, I will look out for them but TBH I am not holding my breath because the Ws here are completely hopeless...I nearly wet myself with pleasure when I went shopping with my sister in Adelaide, they just have so many more brands and choices over there. LOL
Arte that would've been a headache re the different schedules. Hope he's feeling better, I've booked E to get done at the dr's on Monday while DH is still here.
Katie, re the clothes, I have them sorted into types and summer/winter (cos our weather is so changeable here). So top drawer - socks, bibs & facewashers, next pyjamas and onesies, next summer tops and bottoms, next winter tops and bottoms, and in the very bottom drawer I have outer layers (ie jackets, cardigans) plus a few things in the next size up that I've bought and just stashed there. We're at that tricky stage where some of the 00s are too small, some still fit but the 0s are kind of too big just yet. I have a box under the change table where I put things once they are too small so it happens progressively.
ETA Cally I've been thinking about you all week and am dying to hear how it went!
-
CONGRATULATIONS FIANNE!!!!!! Wow a Vegas wedding, how darn cool is that!!
Katie - Congrats on Logan crawling :) After a WEEK, thats really quick! What a clever one. Rory is still comando crawling after being up on his hands and knees for over a month now.
Rory is saying Nanna! My mum has been drumming it into his head for days so she is over the moon hahaha.
Ive got a Hens night tonight. Instead of going out we are having a party with topless waiters, smoke machines, juke box, disco lights, ****tails, games etc. Rory is having a boys night in with dad. Its fancy dress and im going as a nurse ;)
Well im off to read all the posts again because as usuallll im lost!
-
Congrats Fianne!!!! that would have been very cool - I would love to see a pic of you dressed in your wedding livery. What did you dress Max in?
Cally, are you home yet? How did it go?
Marydean, if you can't find any I could get some and send them to you? Or alternatively, arnotts make a rice cookie too. They have a hole in the middle of them, but they go mushy pretty quick, they aren't a 'hard' biccy like arrowroot ones.
Alister is not too bad now. had a better night sleep last night at least.
Hi to everyone else, I should be doing washing but am on here instead LOL, so only a quick one.
-
just a quick one Asha is saying dad and dada now :) yay Asha haha its all happening at once here shes gettin really good at sitting now too :)
-
Hi Ladies! and Hello Fianne and CONGRATULATIONS on the nuptials!! thanks for the travel tips as we are off to italy to visit the rellos in august...need as much advice as possible!! was thinking of buying a cheapie stroller here, but buying one there is soo much better!
Well here today has been a bit hectic. leila is very clingy for some reason and only wants to be bf!! this is the child who yesterday ate her way through 2-3 bowls of food for brekkie, lunch and dinner!! egad! she keeps me guessing. AND she has been hard to settle. normally i pop her in her cot and away she goes, today there were all kinds of hysterics...arrghhh! not sure what to make of it.
sorry for the vent...
i got the taggies book from a bookstore in melbourne called 'readings' it's in north carlton. what genius! each tag is different in texture, colour and size so it keeps her guessing! there is a website taggies.com that sells all their products. the blanket is meant to be the real hit...
that is so cool that asha is not only sitting but also making sounds!! we are still waiting on all the blabbering. it must be so fun to watch!
katie: loving the crawling!! they must be so excited when they work it out!
renee: have fun at the hens!!
trillian: will have to buy that mat!! leila is becoming ever more messy at the table LOL! it's like she is creating some art installation on the floor...
-
LOL Clare @ art installation! The taggies sounds like fun, I saw something similar somewhere but now I can't remember where...(story of my life, can't remember *anything* these days).
Noni that's really exciting about Asha saying dada - oooh I can't wait...I'm still trying to train E to say mumumumum first but so far no luck LOL.
Sherie I think we're just about ready to give the wheat a go anyway. I've had the rice biscuits, remember them from 1st time round with H!
Did I tell you all my ergo arrived - I love it but need the extension strap to have it a bit lower on my hips. The day after I bought it though a nearly new one in the black and green was listed on ebay (*stamps foot*) - I should have waited. See I broke my "never pay full price" motto and look what happens! LOL There are lots on ebay now if anyone's looking, just make sure you get the new sort with the short hood straps that snap onto the shoulders directly.
Went highchair shopping this arvo...already have one but want another cheapie so I don't have to drag the other one back and forth. *Sigh* I know about the ikea ones so now I want one but I'm not sure if it's really worth the 7 hour round trip AND the tank of petrol to get it.
-
hey everyone :)
i am soooo tired!! we played the best team in the comp in netball today and got our asses kicked lol.. they won by 12 points they were alot fitter than us lol we got so tired plus we had no substitutions today and they had 2 lol ahhh well it was still a good work out!!!
md - i was trying with the mumumumum mumma too lol but she got so close to dada that i started concentrating on that coz i just wanted her to say something!! damn 7 hours to ikea do ebay have any???
cassius - id imagine a taggies nlanket would be a hit!! i hope leila has settled for u now :)
fianne - ment to say congrats :) :confetti:
