arte- have you had af at all yet? the lead up to my first one was hectic and i actually thought i was pg cos of all the side effects. i did a hpt and it was a bfn of course, but i felt really really sick. once i got af it was fine.
noni- hope everything's going ok?
renee- how was satc??? i'm dying to know if you enjoyed it. i'm going on tuesday.
cally- lmao at cous cous. i can just imagine it. i just found half a mouldy bananna under the table eeeww
well thanks for all your advice re: lewis' snot ladies. i bought a fess and have been using it, it's great but lewis reminds me of a walrus when he has 2 thick lines of snot running down his face.
-
Arte - OMG I'm waiting with bated breath! RU ok with the prospect of maybe being PG or just scared silly? (I'm looking at your Mt Doom location wondering which it is...)
Well it's been quiet in here today ladies. Thinking of Leanne and little Jordie, wondering how they're getting along!
Sherie - OH no I hope you're feeling better soon and Paige too. xxx
Cally, I was LMAO at the thought of cous cous everywhere! Great idea though, just gotta have time to clean the mess afterwards!
Is anyone starting to think about their bub's 1st birthday? I'm not sure what to do, DH will be away and it just won't be fun without him. :( I need a rent-a-family.
Well all's not quiet on the western front. Nipple pain is going away but the full-blown boob pain has started. Feeling blah too from getting the flu vax yesterday - thanking my lucky stars the Dr gave me ABs when she did, hoping that's enough to get it sorted in the next 24 hrs. I don't know why that boob is so much trouble...it's always the same spot where it gets blocked. Must have a d!cky duct.
ETA Noni I had a little giggle when I read about how A stops and reaches, E did that for the first few weeks of crawling too. It'll be funny when she realises she can stay in the position or even sit and still get the thing she wants. :)
Gracie & Renee I thought of you last night when Margaret and David were talking about SATC (she gave it 4 stars he gave it 1 PMSL). We're hanging out to see Prince Caspian and Kung Fu Panda with DD1.
-
First birthday - it's on a Saturday so I am thinking about a family bbq. Nothing too big, am hoping that we will have turfed the lawn by then so the place looks nice. And lolly bags for everyone (except DD!)
Joined the toy library this afternoon. Great value - and because we live so far from town (took me almost 20 minutes to get there lol) we get to keep the toys for a month instead of a fortnight! She's got some activity centre thing with heaps of buttons that makes all sorts of noise. Will probably drive me crazy by the end of the weekend.
Arte - fingers crossed you get the result you want in the morning - let us know. Try and get W's chin towards the lump too when you feed.
MD - hope your boobies get better soon!
AF started for me this week. Disappointed I didn't get a couple of extra months out of bfeeding.
Couscous, I actually wheeled her into the bathroom and did the clean up in there, easier than in the dining room!
My sister (the one without a baby) is coming down to visit this weekend. Will get to do some girly shopping while DD has 'daddy time'.
-
Gracie, I thought it could be AF coming, I also thought I could be ovulating, really I have no idea lol
MD, I literally live in the shadow of Mt Doom LOL, Mt Ngauruhoe is about 20 minutes drive away and it was used as Mt Doom in Lord of the Rings. I would prefer to wait a few months before TTC but whatever happens...
Cally, I haven't been brave enough to try couscous, I can imagine the mess it would make though. I tried peas and corn tonight and he made enough of a mess with that. Thanks for the chin to the lump tip.
Bath time over, better go.
Does anyone else have a bathtime pooer? We have about a 70% poo rate at bathtime LOL
-
Arte - LMAO not in the bath I hope! Cheeky monkey! Maddie is a predictable pooer as well, every morning after her 1st bottle without fail. Unless constipated!! Wow how exciting re the possibility of being preggers!
Cally - Joining the toy library is something I've been meaning to do. Whats the go, do you pay an annual fee for it?
MD - Oh thats a shame that DH will be away for E's 1st bday. I havent thought too much about it to be honest, but nothing over the top, much the same as Cally - a family bbq. Maddie's is on a Sat as well which is perfect.
Gracie - LOL at Lewis the walrus! We have the same problem atm. Have you had any big snotty kisses from Lewis?! Maddie loves planting her open mouth all over my face. If it was from anyone else I'd feel sick but with Maddie I just have to laugh iykwim! And wipe it off of course...!
Noni - Happy 2000th post for when it happens!
Bum I accidently posted when I hadnt finished!
We tried cheese and tomato toast soldiers today, and they went down a treat. I was watching carefully because last time she had cheese she went funny, but this time there was no reaction at all thank goodness. I also had a huge cook up today, I made a yumo pasta sauce for Maddie & a few annabel karmel recipes. Her food is so good, I find myself finishing Maddie's left overs!
I am seeing S&TC tomorrow night with the girlies wooo hooooooooo!
-
hayley- that's fantastic that you're seeing satc. i'm so looking forward to it? are you feeding maddie meat? i'm just asking cos i know you're a vego so i'm wondering how you're dealing with the meat thing.
lewis loves giving me snotty kisses. he's so gross!
sherie- hope you're feeling a little better. i've caught a bit of a cold myself- was supposed to go to the gym today but felt too sick. i remember last time you got sick i caught it too!;)
leanne- hope jordy is going well today
arte- lewis has never pooed in the bath. i can't believe that! would totally put me off bathtime :)
cally- enjoy your baby-free shopping time. what are you thinking of buying? oohh i miss shopping
md- hope your boobs feel better soon  we're having a double 1st birthday bash with my friend's dd. i think the plan is for a country and western theme with hay bales and pony rides.
-
Arte - no poos in the bath here yet!
DD is constipated again. I have a doctors appt on Tuesday so I will talk to doc about it then. Poor little thing.
Gracie - not sure if I will buy anything. Just want to wander around and have a cup of coffee without feeling like I need to rush because of DD. DH i is going to do the supermarket shop by himself with K - I haven't even done that yet (only picked up little things with her) so will be interesting to see how that goes. He's also going to get some gates to try and keep her 'confined'.
Hayley - for the toy library it's $11 for the year and then you pay a price for each toy (between $1 and $5 depending on the size).
DD had her biggest fall last night. She was standing next to the coffee table and fell backwards, collecting a toy on the way and banging her head on the floor. She was pretty upset, but I think DH was more upset - he's concerned about head injuries.
And we have a top tooth just about to peek through!
-
cally - i think we might have atop tooth about to peek through too hard to see coz ash wont let me look in her mouth most the time.. if dh is worried bout head injuries maybe you should look into getting one of those head bumpa things jazmum was going to get, just google it and itll come up..
gracie - were you a vego too? i give asha meat n i dont eat it figure she needs it for now for the iron etc and when shes old enough she can make the decision not to eat it if she chooses.. i cook up roasts for dp and my dad and use leftovers to make her some food thats been the most successful, she likes bbq chicken too and tuna.. everythings alright just dont quite feel myself lately which is why ive been a bit absent.. thanks for asking.. hows lewis going with his snot now?
haley - lol i find myself finishing off some of ashas foods too lol its terrible!! no wonder i have put on weight lol!! glad the tomato toast soldiers went well and cheese isnt a problem anymore :)
arte - no poos in the bath here!!! gosh that would put me off bath time lol i hope he stops doing it!! could be to do with nappy free time?
md - we are doing much the same as cally but probably going to the picnic park thats near by here.. ashas birthday is a friday so we will have it on the saturday.. i want to make a cake and atm its going to be a butterfly made out of different coloured cup cakes :) sorry dh will be away thats awful :(
arte - hows the pregnancy scare going? eeeek.. know what you mean with the floor crud asha has so many toys but a bit of dirt on the floor is much more exciting in her opinion lol..
-
Oh, don't get me started on floor crud - you would not believe the stuff that I find in his nappies sometimes LOL.
OK, here's the rundown LOL. Paige and I got sick Tuesday night - I felt like I had a washing machine agitator in my stomach and Paige was complaining that her tummy was sore, but I thought nothing of it. Amidst the usual wakeups from Alister, Paige comes in to inform me she vomited in her bed - lovely  So I camped her on the lounge then got Alister out of bed who was now wide awake and went and sat on the recliner with him. Then Paige threw up on the lounge and basically anything within 2ft of her. So the night continued like that - I had about 2hrs sleep and still felt like ****e. Then Erin came down with it over Wednesday night. So she was home yesterday and she also had the runs because she already had a cold so her immune system was already battered. To cap it off, when I picked Lindsay up off the bus yesterday, he was asleep and I had to wake him up, and he looked wretched, so I asked him if he was OK and he said his tummy was sore *alarms bells start ringing at this point* and on the short 700mt trip home he threw up in the car - thank god for leather upholstery is all I can say - much easier to clean than the old car. But he is fine now. I have them all home today as I want them to just rest and try to get their immune system sorted before sending them back to school. Paige could have gone to Preschool today as she is well, but I couldn't risk it.
So to you ladies with Dyson's, or coveting one ;) You can keep them - until they make one that does what my vax can I am never parting with it LMAO.
Oh, and I went to the Dr yesterday too (luckily DH was off shift and could look after the other three) and he prescribed some tablets to deal with the pain and the heavyiness (basically stops clots from forming, therefore making sure that it is all evacutated during AF and can't build up in the uterus, perpetuating the cycle) and I trial this for 2mths, have a u/s to see what is going on and depending on what the scan finds I will need lap surgery again.
Oh, and a possible development on the waking front - started to have another ordinary night on Wednesday, but at 3am I decided to wrap him - tried everything else with no success and what do you know - he slept till 6.45. So I wrapped him from the start last night and NOT ONE SINGLE PEEP OUT OF HIM ALL NIGHT!!!! I even checked on him to make sure he was OK LOL. God I hope I am onto somthing here. He hasn't been wrapped since he was only a few weeks old, so it didn't occur to me to try it now as the others all hated being wrapped - but even this morning when I put him to bed, I wrapped him, put him in his cot and he nodded off without so much as a single whinge.
Sorry for the mammoth post and lack of personals - will catch up later on :)
-
Wow Sherie that sounds like pretty-full on medicine, hope it does the trick, and you're spared the lap surgery. Sounds like it's been awful at your house this week - hope everyone's feeling much better soon!! Wow about wrapping A - sounds like you have discovered a secret trick...let us know if it keeps working or not. :)
Arte - that's sooo cool about Mt Doom. Does it look sinister when you look out your window? *Sigh* I'm sooo in love with New Zealand, we really should just hop over there for a visit!! How is your BB feeling, better i hope? Mine was pretty bad last night (I was starting to feel quite ill) but the massaging and ABs have done the trick and it's better this morning.
Cally - enjoy your baby free time. I find I stand there at the shop and I'm always putting my hand out to grab the pram next to me...even when it's not there LOL. Bit like when you're not holding the baby but you still sway like you are ! I cannot tell you how rejeuved I feel just from going to the cinema by myself for a couple of hours. Does a world of good. Glad K was ok after her fall, DH will learn to cope as they get happen more often!
Lacey - Fantastic idea about the country and western theme - I want one!!! E would love it too because I was holding up some scarves at the op shop the other day, so she could pick one to play with at home, and she chose this (*bleurgh*) hideous red and blue country one with saddles and ropes all over it PMSL! Will L be wearing a little cowboy suit? Awww how cute would that be!!
Noni I like your idea of the butterfly cake! A park picnic sounds lovely. I did a garden party themed Bday for DD when she turned 4. I did a big round cake as the middle of the flower and little cakes all around it as the petals, and then I used the large smarties to make a caterpillar in the shape of a 4 in the middle (black icing legs LOL). We also had the MD special, where you ice arrowroot biscuits, and then using lollies and icing tubes, you make pictures on them - like spiders, ladybirds, little flowers, etc. They always look excellent and the kids loooove them.
Haley, I'm sooo glad for you that the cheese thing went ok with Maddie, I know how worried you were after the first time. I'm going to try E on some cheese this weekend, just a little pile of grated cheese so she can finger-food-it.
Wondering how Jazmum is, haven't heard from her for a couple of days... has Pregpan left on her trip yet?
Our friends who were coming up for the weekend have rung to say they *might* be having the start of gastro at their house. So if they come it'll be a day later so they have time to make sure no one is ill. Which is good as it gives me more time to work on getting the spare room sorted out! It's firecracker weekend here, so we're thinking of having a little brazier bonfire with marshmallows for the kiddies and mulled wine for the grownups...mmmmm!
-
Ahh crackers - so it's going to be noisy down here too!!
Sherie - oh, your house has been sick, you poor things. Hope they're back to themselves to enjoy the long weekend! Fingers crossed the wrapping continues to work.
MD - I swing my handbag a lot when I'm not out with K to make up for not having a pram to rock.
-
Hi Girls!!
Wow Sherie: what a week for you guys! glad the bug is passing fairly quickly and yep, my dyson would not be able to cope with that one!
bummer about the AF issues. i hope the u/s shows up normal. another lap can be a daunting proposition. i have never had one, managed to avoid it so far...yes, i cancelled my last one a couple of years ago! i am a big wuss!
MD: IKWYM about shopping without bub...i was grocery shopping the other day and began rocking the trolley back and forwards...how embarrassing!
oohhh i am missing firecracker night! egad. it has already been a year since the last one...how time flies.
Cally: i hope K is ok after her fall. if it's any consolation to DH, when we had our baby first aid, the lady told us that babies falling over and hitting their heads is normal and nothing to really worry about. she told us it happens all the time and rarely is an issue...i guess it's more of a concern if they knock themselves out or fall from a height.
IKWYM about shopping without the need to rush! i went for a quick trip today from the dentist to check out the sales...was about to spend a fortune on things for L, but then thought, no, it's about time i buy something for myself. i think it's almost been a year since i bought something unrelated to baby stuff (ie no maternity bras or breastfeeding tops!).
hayley: we are also off to SATC this weekend! DH is at home with L while we go and hit the town! LOL!! cant wait!
best be off as i have to pick up leila soon and i need to do some work before the guilt sets in!
-
MD, can't see Mt Doom from the window, there is another volcano blocking it but I can see it from playcenter. It doesn't look very doomish, they had to CG it to make it look scary. My BB is much better now, hope yours gets better soon too. You are welcome to stay here if you manage to get over here - perhaps a guilt holiday when DH gets home from the big trip?
Jazah, how is Chloe?
Well, HPT was negative, so I guess it must be AF getting ready to come.
-
Hi Ladies,
Sorry to crash your thread but I just wanted to confess to being a closet reader of your posts!!
DD1 was born on 27 September 2007 and I do tend to pop onto this thread every now and then to read about all of your little ones and compare experiences. I feel like such a lurker so I just wanted to say thankyou for your honest and open chatting/advice/suggestions because it is often a help and comfort to me as well. I missed out on the mothers group for babies the same age as DD and baby books don't always seem to mirror real life.
You girls are the best!
-
hello lovely ladies
md- i read your post going 'who the hell is lacey, and i can't believe she's having a country & western themed party too!!':doh:
yes, lewis will be dressed as a hot little cowboy. i've got his shirt and jeans picked out, so cute!
sherie- omg! at your week. it's like a horror story! hope this weekend is better for you and the gang
arte- yes i think af is defintely going to be visiting your place soon :(
clare- what did you end up buying for yourself?
noni- yes i'm a vego too, but i've been eating chicken & fish for about 6 years now. i've been giving lewis meat too. he loves crumbed cutlets.
rachee- hello and welcome to our thread :welcome:
what is your dd's name?
-
Lacey Gracie LOL!! Sorry just teasing. :P
Lil Rachee - Welcome hun, jump on into the conversation any time you like - there is no need to stay in the closet!!! I missed out on mother's group too but our Sept bubbies thread more than makes up for that! How are you finding mummahood?
OK, better go, the big spare room clean out is ON! Want to get finished so I have time to do a lemon delicious pudding for dessert tonight.
-
MD, one of my worst childhood memories is the time my mum cleaned my bedroom with a rubbish bag! She gave me a few weeks of warning to clean it up and then went in and chucked out everything that was on the floor. I remember darting in front of her to save my precious things LOL
Lil Rachee, welcome, jump in whenever you want. How is life with your DD?
Sherie, hope everyone is feeling better. My dog puked all over the carpet and I think I might have a touch of Vax envy now.
Renee, did you see the SATC movie yet?
I had my first real baby free time today. I went for a horse trek. It was bl00dy freezing with icey wind and rain, but at least I did something by myself. Poor W seems to be confused though - he spent the afternoon playing with DH instead of the evening, so when I put him to bed for a nap he must have thought it was night time LOL. I got him up when he woke but he cried so I put him back to bed. I am not looking forward to him waking a few hours early tomorrow though.
-
just jumped on to say i am now a member of the ergo club hehe.. i convinced dp into buying it.. what position do you guys all put bubbies in? i tried all of them and so far the most comfortable putting her on the front i feel like shes still a bit wobbley for the back one when i put her on but we will see.. i got the blue one with the greeny lining its nice hehe cant wait to try it out some time :)
hope all is going well i am really tired so its just another quick one from me i'm afraid..
-
Hi Girls!
just a quick one from me as DH finishes preparing dinner (oh he's well trained!!).
Gracie: well i hit the myer stocktake sale and found the 'metalicus' section...i love clothes that dont have sizes LOL! and bought this gorgeous wool wrap cardigan. it looks awesome! (even if i say so myself!).
Rachee: HELLLOO and welcome! he he he i think we are all guilty of stalking from time to time! i too am in a mums group with bubs that are wayyy younger than leila. so this place is awesome to 'bond' over the trials and tribulations of bubs the same age! lol!
Arte: soooo incredibly jealous of your horse ride!! even in the ice and wind! i miss riding so much. :(
Noni: congrats on the ergo. its awesome huh?! i love the colour you have. mine is black and green and is not as cool! i have been selling the idea of them at my mums group too as their bubs are getting too uncomfy in the bjorn.
ok better skeddadle! hope everyone is awesome!
-
Gracie - I did a double take at the Lacey as well! The country & western theme sounds like heaps of fun. Yes I am feeding Maddie meat, I started with lamb and I'm now doing like mince. Its not too bad cooking it. Maddie isnt overly fussed with it though, she prefers chicken.
Cally - Oh no scary fall! I agree that its more of a shock for us as parents. I guess they will be in for many falls as they start walking though. I think we have a top tooth/teeth on the way as well. How has K been with her teeth? Poor Maddie was very upset and grumpy all day.
Sherie - Gastro is the worst! I hope you are all over it now. Did DH avoid it? Not long ago Maddie did a major spew and I wasnt too sure if she was sick because she still seemed happy, then my tummy started churning & that confirmed it for me lol. Is the wrapping still working? Who would have thought hey!
MD - Yes the cheese was a worry for me, but now I'm wondering if it was just coincidence? I cant explain the rash that suddenly appeared on that day though. Or I also thought maybe her tummy wasnt ready for it? Who knows, all I know is that it seems to be behind us now woo hoo. Wow you are so creative, love the garden party idea.
Clare - YES I know all about the rocking of the trolley. My DP was standing at the markets once holding a bag of potatoes, and he was rocking back and fourth. I just stopped & looked at him and he stopped and was like omg how embarrassing, realising what he was doing!! My DP is the dinner cooker as well, gotta train these men well.
Lil Rachee - Welcome! Whats your DD's name? My DD was also born on Sept 27th so they are exactly the same age!
Noni - Congrats on the ergo. Let me know how it goes. I am thinking of buying one for going o/seas with. That is the carrier where you can carry bub on your back if you want right?
Well I didnt end up seeing S&TC, I was a real party pooper. Do you ever have times where you just feel like being at home with your family, doing nothing much? That was me last night, so I pulled out, the girls didnt seem to mind but I still feel guilty. I just wanted to be at home with DP & Maddie really.
I am sure we have another toothie on the way, as Maddie has come up with another terrible rash on her face, exactly like the last time when her bottom teeth were on the way through. So I guess its just a waiting game now.
I have the outlaws staying up for the weekend. They are at a football game atm so I have peace. Far out my MIL is a pain in the butt lol.
Anyway enough of my rambling...I have an exam on Monday (my 1st uni exam!!) so I need to study. Hello to everyone I missed, I hope you and your fam are all doing well.
-
Howdy girls,
Noni I have that colour ergo too, I love it. I have tried the front and hip position and will get DH to try the back position first.
Hayley I know exactly what you mean about wanting to just kick back at home. Enjoy your freedom tonight while it lasts.
Clare did your DH come with some type of manual? Or is there some secret school like puppy kindy you can take them too? Lol
Arte it sounds like you had a nice day, it feels good to have a little "me" time doesn't it.
Lil Rachee welcome to our chatty little group and congrats on your DD.
MD have a good weekend with your friends, sounds like loads of fun.
Dh has been out at the races since 7.30 this morning. Logan and I have had such a fun day today, we have just spent most of the day on the floor playing, meanwhile it looks like a bomb went off at my place. No plans for the long weekend DH has next week off so I am trying to think of some fun family things we can do.
Hi to everyone else hope your all having a great weekend.
-
Hi Ladies,
The lovely Trillian suggested that I should join the September '07 group! So may I please join :D
I am looking forward to getting to know you all!!
Cheers
Kez
-
Wow its been very quiet in here.
Chepie of course you can join us, the more the merrier. I am pretty sure we were belly buddies. How are things with your DS?
I got soooo much cleaning done today I have now gone through the whole house and chucked out and donated so much stuff. I am feeling very happy about it, the only bummer is my back is killing me. Just need to do the floors tomorrow and I will be one happy mumma.
Anyway I hope you all had a great weekend.
-
Welcome Lil Rachee and Chepie.
So glad it is a long weekend, these two days have absolutely flown. DD has been moved into her 'big seat' in the car and we lowered her cot base.
Had a great time with my sister, went out for brunch this morning and wandered one of the little villages near here yesterday. DH did very well doing the shopping with DD, some ladies helped him unpack the trolley because he had her in the Bjorn and was having trouble bending over!
Ozstar - lucky you having DH home all next week. Hope you have a good time.
Hayley - I thought her teeth were fine - then on Friday night she stirred every 45 minutes and had a whinge (didn't have to go in though). So then I was thinking they were bothering her. Then last night, not a peep out of her for 12.5 hours! So I don't know, still very sure there is one coming down though. Glad that the cheese went well.
Arte - would love to go horse riding, very jealous!
Gotta go, ice cream time!
-
wow it is quiet in here!!!
ashas trying to pull herself up now on her toy box.. its very cute but she did have a bit of a big spill back onto her head this avo ahhhh the falls begin lol
cally - wow 12.5hrs i am sooo jelous!!! thats so nice the ladies helped your dp men wouldnt help us if we were having trouble!
katie - well done on the cleaning my house is gross!!
welcome cheapie and lil rachee :)
haley - the ergo is a dream!! i had asha in it for hours today in the front position and it was sooo comfortable gee i cant believe i carried her in the baby bjorn just the other day lol i'm surprised i didnt stuff my shoulders!!
cassius - i was gonna get the black one but i was worried it would get hotter than the other colours.. do you find that when your out in the sun?
-
Thanks for the warm welcome
Ozstar - Yes I think that we were belly buddies!! Aiden is great! He crawled on Wed! So there is no stopping him now!! he has 7 teeth and a yucky cold! ... Good on you for all the cleaning thats what we are trying to do!! Hope that your back is ok :)
Cally - Thats sweet about the ladies helping your DH :D grrrrrrrrr to teeth! Hope that tooth appears quickly
*noni*e* - Isn't great watching them pull themselves up and being very proud of the fact until that dreaded fall :( ....... I think so begins the many falls and bruises
-
Hi Chepie - so glad you decided to pop in and say hello! And a big welcome to lil Rachee too! I hope you have found something helpful to you in amongst all our ramblings LOL.
yes, DH did get the bug on Friday night and he was violently ill with it too poor bugger. I have never known him to be so sick. At least I didn't have to clean up after him though LOL. He's fine now though and went to work tonight as normal. And Alister has a runny bum, but only once yesterday and once today, both at the times when he normally poos anyway and it isn't bothering him at all.
Interesting development too on the sleeping front here. He is still sleeping great - still being wrapped, but the big contributor I think has been not having dinner. I didn't give him dinner on Wednesday night because I was still too sick to bother with it, and that was the first night he slept. Thursday I brought the latest PP mag and there was an article about a baby sleep diet - so I read it and it was basically about babies eating high GI foods and it's effect on them, so what I've figured out is that his dinner meal is too high GI and is possibly contributing to his rotten night sleeping. He has rice cereal mixed with either fruit or veg, and sometimes fruit puree for dessert - both the rice cereal and the fruit purees are high GI - as is potato. So we haven't been having dinner since Wednesday and his sleep is fantastic. Tomorrow I will introduce a low GI dinner meal and see how we go with that.
I think Alister is definately going to be my thrill seeker baby. I had him in the FP swing today while hanging washing and I left him in it while I went back in to get another load (you would seriously not believe the amount of washing I have been doing). I stopped to ask DH something and he says "check this out" and he is looking out the kitchen window and Paige who is also outside is at the swing, but she is turing it around, winding it up really tight, and Alister is happy as larry just sitting there, and she keeps winding and winding until she can't wind it any further, and we are watching with anticipation because we know what is about to happen - DH is ****ing himself laughing, I'm trying to swallow the fear - and then she lets it go and it starts spinning and spinning and getting faster and the whole time Alister is just sitting there with this huge smile on his face and laughing. DH is nearly beside himself he is laughing that hard. And when it stops, Paige, who was laughing maniacally at her grand idea, just leaves him and comes inside like nothing has happened (she didn't know we were watching) and he is just left sitting there wondering where she's gone LMAO. If that was done to the others when they were the same age they would have been screaming the whole time. I tell ya, this kid is going to grow up tough.
He is also getting really good at standing on his own now too and walking with one hand held. He had a ball this afternoon as the girls and I were having a big clean out of their bedroom and he kept getting all the barbie stuff and trying to eat it LOL.
-
Hi Girls!
Yessiree it has been quiet in here these days! is the cold keeping us at bay?! he he he!
Hayley: LOL at your DH! it is soo embarrassing when you catch yourself doing something like that!
ahh bummer for no SATC! we went this evening while i left DH with DD. it was quite fun. just a long version of the show.
Hi Chepie and welcome! it's always awesome to have new people to rant and rave with!
Sherie: i also read that article and have been trying to keep the GI down for dinner. only, leila LOVES potato and on the nights that she is being a fusspot it's all i can get her to eat...egad. the joys.
So is the household returning to good health?!! and poor you on all the washing!
Noni: hmm no havent found it terribly hot. although that said, in peak summer i tend to avoid it. i go for the pram or the sling...
and yeah, leila is also pulling herself up onto everything. and falling down again! she has a cracker of a bruise on her forehead ATM...looking like a bad mum when we go out in public:redface:
alls quiet here on the homefront. i am thankful! leila has been unwell the past few nights and has been intermittently waking up. she has been going back to sleep on her own for the most part, but at least once a night i have had to go in there and resettle her. man, it takes it out of you!
feeling a bit lonely tonight, as DH is away at a conference dinner...so am feeling sorry for myself...wish i was having a $75 a head dinner. instead, i had a healthy microwave reheat of last nights dinner...boo hoo for me!
anyway should go and get my sorry self to bed, my feet are freezing out here in the cold!

Hi Girls,
Firstly a Big Hello to Lil Rachee and Chepie:hello:
Well we got home yesterday arvo and yes it seemed to have work so far. But the first day my poor Jordy was so sick he spewed all day from the stuff. 2 nd day he did 2 poos and Saturday Morning the flood gates had opened. I dont think I have ever soon so much poo in my life as yet. He pooed all day saturday and the Dr said we could come home. He as done 2 poos today and we start back on the movicol tomorrow. I am crossing my fingers and toes that this is the end of the constipation problem. Sorry for the TMI girls.
I will catch up with everyone soon I am very tired and am think I might just go back to bed and try and get some sleep. I am over tired now and my brain just wont stop.
Sweet dreams to all

Oh Leanne, the poor little boy. he must have been really backed up by the sound of it. Fingers crossed for you that this is the end of all his troubles.

hi everyone! so sorry i've been missing for so long. i think that i'll probably be able to post 1x a month at this rate. can't sit in front of the computer these days coz' max is just always on the go. and i don't really want to stop her "exploring" so i end up just following her around trying to block possible sources of bruises. speaking of which, we had our first a few weeks ago, but they're now constantly replaced with new ones. i used to know where they came from or how it happened, but now, i just see them and wonder.
i've missed whole threads so i won't bother with trying to catch up on personals. except for the recent ones.
leeann, hope jordy's all better for all that. and hope you get a break as well.
sherie, i think you've had a sick household? hope all's well now and it wasn't too draining on you.
hi to lil rachee and chepie! i'm with a couple of mother's groups but the ladies in here have been a blessing from pregnancy to now....i've learnt so much from what's been shared in here and hope that you're able to get as much out of this as i have.
need to get the PP that you're talking about sherie. might help with the sleep.
max has been pretty ok on her sleeping but still not through the night. doesn't self settle either....well, to be fair, she does sometimes but often needs to be picked up. although, it might be because her cot's still in our room. anyway, have had nights where we only had to resettle 1x after we've gone to bed, and then there have been the other night when we got up every hour!!! that was a killer specially since she slept through from 12 to 5:30 the previous night....and i thought "this is it!"...that should teach me not to expect.
eating...i've sort of stopped preparing food for her and just using up what i've got left in the freezer. have been giving her food that we eat. ie. spinach and ricotta ravioli when i was at coffee club, salmon, spag bol, risotto, etc. if what we're having is something i can mash up or give as finger food, then i don't bother with preparing anything separate.
teeth...still the same bottom 2 from march. although, i think she might have some coming coz' she's been drooling excessively the past couple of days
health...was (is?) coming down with a cold but have been giving her more water than usual and orange juice. am assuming that oj isn't bad for her since i'm supposed to be giving her fruits anyway? and the list i was coming off says "all fruits and veges"...so far, there doesn't appear to be any adverse reactions.
DH/DP, been lucky as mine cooked dinner tonight as well. :) and breakfast this morning...and did the dishes...
anyway, i think sleep might finally be here. i drank dh's regular tea (as opposed to my decaf tea) and am awake. went to bed at around 10'ish and just tossed and turned so decided to get up and post. only time that i can in peace.
ladies, will continue to lurk but hoping to be able to post more often than i have been.

Fianne, good to see you. We do the same with food, I give him a selection of finger foods for breakfast and lunch but for dinner he just has whatever we are having. Last night he had nacho mince and rice. It was very messy but he managed to get a bit in his mouth.
Sherie, glad to hear everyone is getting better. Mr A sounds like a little daredevil LOL And sneaky Paige, spinning him and then walking inside like she hadn't done a thing wrong!
Leanne, so glad that Jordy's treatment worked. Does he seem to feel better for it?
Clare, sucks when they go out to 5 star paid business diners and we are left at home with crappy leftovers. My DH was away for a week at a conference and complained about having to go out to dinner every night, I wanted to slap him LOL
We seem to have been lucky on the bruise front, he has only falling from standing a couple of times and they haven't been bruise making. Walking is getting better, he can do the length of the hall now (with me hovering behind to catch him if he wobbles). He seems to like crawling with something in his mouth, a soft ball, his shoe etc, it is really funny. And after two months of mum mum he has finally mastered dad dad.
Sleeping was getting better but then his teeth started coming up again. Last night he slept from 10-2 but then was tossing and turning and grizzling until morning. I think I will get some nurofen today because the panadol doesn't do anything.

Hi Girls!
Oh Leanne! what an ordeal for your little man. sounds like the treatment has been doing the trick and no doubt little jordy will be feeling like a million bucks soon!
hope you get a chance to rest up a bit...
Fianne: great to hear from you again! sounds like lil' max is growing in leaps and bounds! and LOL at the 'real' tea...i think we have all been there on that one! i now have a stash of 'fake' decaf in the cupboard...but, i still reckon it's not as nice...probably just my perception rather than reality...oh well. also i have found the kimbo coffee does a decaf, so i go the espresso for the late afternoon shift! LOL! oh so wild here in my household...
Arte: yep, these men sometimes just never get it do they?? DH felt pretty guilty though when he got home as he reckons the dinner was really really good. so his guilt transformed into him getting me an 'up&go' from the fridge with a piece of lindt chocolate...hmmm interesting choice at 11.30pm!

hello ladies
how are we all today? just took lewis and my dog up to the park and some crazy b%tch up there had her agro german shephard off the lead. i've seen it up there before and it has attacked my dog so i tried to avoid it. there was a family up there with a black lab and their dog came up and was having a bit of a play with my dog and then out of nowhere the german shephard came charging towards us. i was so friggin scared. the owner was nowhere to be seen of course. i hate her, she's such an irresponsible b5tch!!!
anyway, my poor dog froze out of fear cos i think she recognised the dog from last time it tried to maul her but the black lab started running. the german shephard started chasing the lab and i quickly started running the other way with my dog and pram. all i could hear was squealing and screaming from the poor black lab as the friggin german shephard was attacking it!! that poor poor family. i'm so friggin upset!
i ran all the way home and was so upset and angry. i was nearly crying to dp. it's one of the best times of my day taking lewis and my dog to the park as we all enjoy it. it just upsets me that the experience has to be ruined by someone so stupid. i don't want to be too scared to go there anymore.
dp was livid so he made me get in the car and we drove over to the park because he wanted to 'rip her f##king head off'. when we got there she had gone.
is there anything i can do girls? i don't know who she is so i'm not sure if i can do anything...
sorry for vent but i'm just really upset
arte- have you tried any teething relif tablets or anything like that? i found panadol did nothing for lewis as well.
fianne- great to see you're back. max sounds like she's going fantastic! how is married life treating you?
leanne- so glad to hear all about jordy's poo (as weird as that sounds). i'm sure he must feel so relieved.
sherie- better watch that little crusty demon of yours!! are you going to get him a dirt bike when he's older? i can just imagine him :)
noni & katie- we all have the same coloured ergos. imagine if we all met up one day for a walk it would be so funny! :D
cally- lol at some ladies helping dh with his shopping :D they have no idea how much we do sometimes i reckon!
clare- i love metallicus clothes. have you ever heard of the label 'wyse'? they have some great stuff as well.
hayley- i totally relate to not wanting to go out and just wanting to spend time with your family. i am the biggest nanna these days, i never want to do anything. i love being at home with my boys :)

Gracie, that is terrible about the dog. Report it to the council with a description of the dog and woman and the times that you have seen her there. If it is aggressive she shouldn't have it off the lead and she should have a muzzle on it. Does she walk it there or drive? Any chance of a number plate? What a b!itch, I hate it when stupid people ruin it for everyone else.
-
Gracie, that's terrible. It's a threat to dogs not to mention all the children in the park. Does she usually go to the park around the same time each week? You could ring up the council people/police and dob her at the time she's usually there. I would. In SA there is a law where dogs must be kept on a leash in parks (except designated doggy parks) and they can't go anywhere near playgrounds or schools at all (leash or no leash).
Leanne - Far out. I told DH about all the poo (finally) and he was amazed. I bet J is feeling just soooo much better and you must be feeling very relieved too. Let's hope this fixes it now once and for all.
Welcome Chepie - it gets a bit noisy in here (apparently I"m one of the talkative ones LOL) so just jump on in whenever you can.
Sherie, I was laughing when I read about Alister Kineval! We've got one of those swings, haven't worked out where to put it yet, the clothesline is looking like the most likely spot so far. I hope your DH is feeling much better now.
Fianne so pleased to hear from you :D! Max sounds like she's a very busy girl! I'm aiming to get E eating family foods over the next few months. We're experimenting with chunkier foods now, she always makes a hilarious funny face when she's eating something new.
Arte, I hope you get some good results from the Nurofen. I find it works really well but I'm nervous about using it too often cos it can give them tummy problems. I hope the teething is just a temporary blip and W's sleeping continues to improve.
Cally sounds like you had a wonderful time with your Sis. Was that Mogo you went to? I want to take DD1 out to the historical thingy they have there but not too sure how lame it is or not. LOL We like the zoo there.
Well DH is rather chipper today, he and his mate sat down last night and played an awful lot of violent xbox and watched motorbike racing and ate a humungous bar of rumnraisin chocolate. Us girls watched Jane Austen and Trinny and Susannah and had an excellent natter. The kids all got up and played in the middle of the night (!!) and E scored lots of extra cuddles from everyone esp our 2 yo little visitor and Fluffychops didn't bark at anyone this time so all round it was a very successful weekend. :)
-
MD - yes, it was Mogo. Haven't been to Old Mogo Town though, so can't tell you how 'lame' it is.
Gracie - oh you poor thing with the dog. I'd ring the council and let them know and they might get the rangers to do some extra runs past there to keep an eye out for her.
Welcome back Fianne.
Trillian - might have to track down that PP magazine, sounds interesting. lol at him going round and round on the swing!
Leanne - glad that Jordy is feeling better, hope everything is back on track now.
-
Gracie - Thats terrible, how can people keep a dog like that!? I'd be too scared that it would turn on a human one day. Gosh I hope the poor lab was ok, they are gorgeous dogs. Dog fights are horrific to watch. So glad nothing happened to you guys, thats so dangerous, its a horrible thought but whats to say it wouldnt go for a bub or young child one day. Definately report it.
Sherie - LAMO at Paige winding Alister up in the swing! Thats so funny. I did read the PP article over the weekend and I am going to give it a go as well. We are having problems in the sleep department and i cant pinpoint exactly what it is.
Leanee - OMG poor Jordy! How did the hospital stay go? Must have really been backed up.
MD - Oh no I didnt know nurofen could cause tummy upsets. I love Trinny & Susannah!
Clare - How are you going with your study? I've been up with Maddie at least once a night too and I agree it really does take it out of you. Hard work being a mumma!
Fianne - Welcome back! I am very busy these days as well, I feel constantly exhausted lol. Well done on the introduction of family meals, I am slowly starting to do it too but we like lots of hot food so we have to tone it down a bit.
Arte - Congrats on the dad dad!
Chepie - Welcome!
Noni - Oh you have me convinced on the ergo, might have to get one before we go away. How is your house hunting going?
Where is Renee?
I am so tired. The last 4 nights she has woken without fail between 4.30 and 5am for a bottle. I have tried to avoid giving her the bottle but its the only thing that puts her back to sleep! Its like she's hungry but I cannot figure out why, she has 4 240ml bottles a day and in between has usually 3 meals. Maybe I need to up the solids? She is also waking around 1/2ish but that wake is simple as all it takes is a dummy in the mouth and shes off again. Its just hard work, especially on the nights that I have to work the next day. I had an exam this morning and I dont know how I got through it with my broken sleep lol. I guess I am a mummy now so I have to be tough!
-
Further to the PP article on high vs low GI Foods - can anyone give examples of what low GI foods are?
-
Hayley, there is a pretty extensive list here Table of Glycaemic Index of foods
I did have a calculation thing to work it out on other foods too, but I can't remember what it was - I will find it for you.
