hi guys
well i'm back from the dr. waited an hour to basically have the dr go all goo goo gaaa gaaa at lewis, play with him and tell me how cute he is.
great.
i could've gone to the bakery for that and at least i would've come back with a pie....
for those of you into online clothes buying- i just got an absolute bundle of bargains from spencer lacy . com. heaps of bargains.
clare- you might like their clothes cos you're into metalicus.
hi chepie and welcome back :) what state do you live in?
on the teeth thing- lewis has 6. 4 top 2 bottom.
i want some sloppy kisses!!! lewis doesn't kiss, i think he's taking after his dad who is impossible to get a pash out of ;)
wow pregpan- job sounds great!! you are such a go-getter i love it. makes me feel like such a slack arse sitting here in my velour tracksuit eating red rooster chips ;)
when you stay in melbourne, whereabouts do you stay?

I've been a bit slack with the posting lately, just trying to get over this horrible bug. Maddie seems much better, but the chesty cough is still lingering and probably will be for a few weeks now according to the doc. All I need is one night of sleep!!!!!! Its caused a few arguments between DP and myself as I dont usually expect him to get up seeing as he is working the next day. However on the nights where I have to work the next day a bit of help would be so nice iykwim. I'm also feeling like a mean mummy lately because I feel like I havent had the energy to give Maddie much attention, I have to drag myself out of bed at night to go to her. I dont know if its this bug or what but I'm feeling like I've got no motivation atm. I really feel & look like a zombie, I've even fantasied about dropping her off with my parents for the night. Is that bad!?
Noni - Hope the moving is going well, havent heard from you for awhile so it must be keeping you busy.
MD - We still only have the bottom two teeth, but I think theres movement happening with the top teeth as we have rosy cheeks and a bub who doesnt want her bottles anymore.
Chepie - I hear you on the doctor being booked out for wks. If I'm struggling to get Maddie in I bring on the tears and they say bring her straight down hehehe naughty.
Pregpan - Your job sounds so glamourous! Congrats on the promotion!
Renee - Woo hoo that job works perfectly for a mum! Great hrs. Yay!
Gracie - Did you sort out the rash? How scary! I also have a DP who lacks initiative when it comes to Maddie...That eye cream sounds good, I've got SO many wrinkles around my eyes its not funny. I've got a set of 80 yr old eyes!! I laugh wayyyyy to much, they are all laugh lines but they look like granny wrinkles lol.
Arte - Lol thanks to your DH for his compliment!
Trillian - Sorry to hear about your shocking night the other night! How did last night go? I'm in the same boat as you atm with the sleep.
Leemar - At least theres no constipation in your household atm! ;)
Falguni - Hope you guys get over the gasto bug quickly. How about doing some study to keep yourself stimulated?
Hello to everyone else, hope you are all well.
-
Sleep here wasn't the best again, but I think it was more belly pains than anything else. DH started nightshift last night so I just put him in bed with me and he farted from 6-6.30 this morning LMAO.
Marydean, Alister has 6 teeth now - one came through yesterday. How were the (.Y.) after E's great sleep last night? ;)
Gracie, it ****s me to tears when I have to wait so long to see a Dr for 5 minutes. Erin has had Roseola too, when I was pg with Paige and apparently it can cause complications in the unborn, but there were no dramas. When the rash appears all the other stuff makes sense then doesn't it?
Sorry for lack of personals everyone - my mind just can't put anything together today, but I have been reading.
-
MD, W has 5 teeth now
Renee, congrats on the job, sounds interesting
Chepie, don't feel like an intruder, just jump in whenever. I am glad I don't have to go back to work yet, I have no family living close by and there really isn't a lot in the way of daycare in rural NZ.
Gracie, hope L gets better soon
MM, don't feel bad about thinking of dropping Maddie at your parents for a night. I know how hard it is when you have had no sleep and you still have to look after bubs all day regardless. Would they take her for a night? A good sleep will do wonders.
Pregpan, gee you sound busy! I think I have had a busy day (and so can justify not cleaning) if I go to playcentre and the supermarket in the same day LOL
Leanne, how is the party planning going?
Sherie, go Alister! I know you wanted him to take a bit longer to walk, I can understand why now LOL. This morning I left W playing with some toys and went down the hall towards the toilet and glanced back and he was walking after me LOL. I guess he is officially a toddler now. It is so amazing how quickly they learn things, only 2 days ago he would only walk to and from people, now he lets go from the couch or anything and goes where ever he feels like it.
I am down at my mums for a few days visiting which is good. Apparently it is snowing at my house so I picked a good time to come down.

Hi Girls!
wowser things have moved fast here in the last day!! a girl can barely keep up!
Gracie: he he he...i totally hear you on the 'oh so sexy' tracky daks. i have to admit that the guilt sets in when the clock reads after 1pm and i am still sporting the sexy numbers. and yes, i too have the ubiquitous ponytail...sometimes i flash it up with a head band LOL!! will be checking the online stuff out...need all the help i can get.
ohhh how true! i dream of the days before leila where i could sleep in excess of 12 hours!!! arrghhhhh!
MD: boo hoo, leila is STILL COMPLETELY toothless!!! she is about to be the last bub in group without teeth (even the 5 month olds are outstripping her!). that said, she can eat anything you put in front of her. she'll be a pro when she's a grandma!
Chepie: nah dont feel bad about dropping in! i too was a latecomer and have just argey barged my way into things! LOL!!
yeah the drs are pretty bad. leila has a doc, but we dont. alot of the clinics here are not taking new patients, so if DH or I get sick we have to go to the massive 'walmart' style doc surgery...
Sherie: sending you lots of zzzzz's for a good nights sleep...in fact, the same goes for all us ladies! (esp. MM!!).
MM: no. it is NOT bad to take maddie to your mums for the night. my friend sent her DS of 5 months to grandmas house for the night while they went out to an engagement party, so one night for maddie so that you guys can recuperate is not asking too much. sometimes a good sleep is all we need to feel 100% better!
Pregpan: yeah we get the big sloppy tongue, drooly pashes that usually end with leila sucking on our noses too. so gross and yet, so awesome!
Arte: lucky escape!! i have to say that i am really enjoying the mild winters here in melbourne. i said to DH the other night that if we were still in canberra having to endure another freezing winter without decent heating i would have gone bonkers. that said, the gale force winds out tonight are a bit hair raising as i can hear the gum trees straining, and my poor dog is a bit worried so have bribed her with liver treats and given her a doona to lie on top of her bed in the kitchen. i am a sucker i know!
AFM: things are pretty good. leila is getting over a small cold, have been having a few wakeups associated with temps, but she slept really well last night (down at 6.30 up at 5.30 and straight back to bed til 8.30). i figure she is catching up on the lost sleep from the other shocking 20 minute dance off night...
she has also started trying to really talk. she now points at DH and tries to say papa, and stella is 'dulla'. everything else, including me is either 'da' or 'ta'...not feeling left out at all!!
teeth are feeling nominally better. although i have to say that braces are hard work. brushing my teeth is now 3 times a day and because i am a novice takes close to half an hour. not happy jan!
anyway, big hellos to those i have missed. just had a glance back and realised that this is a whopper so had best head off to bed!
-
Renee - woo hoo on the new job!
I love my tracky daks!! Although it is nice to get 'dressed up' in my jeans and jumper when we go into town.
MD - when do you head into QE2? We have 3 teeth here, but I suspect number 4 will be making an appearance later today or tomorrow - I can see it through the gum.
MM - take Maddie to your mum's for the night so you can catch up, you'll feel like a new person. I'm sleeping in the spare room tonight, my ears need an earplug break from DH's noises.
Gracie - lol at your bakery comment!
Prregpan - your new role sounds good, are they all going to be day trips to Melb or will you have sleepovers?
K still has a bit of a runny nose. She is holding her ear a little bit but seems well in all other respects so I don't think she has an ear infection.
Well the washing is finished, so I might go and hang that out and then watch another Big Love episode. I watched 4 yesterday, really enjoying it.
-
Good morning everyone
Just wanted to jump on and say Hi to you all.
Have briefly skimmed posts and it seems that lots of mums and bubs aren't well. Hannah is still stuffed up in the nose and coughing so i've started her on AB's. Hopefully she'll be 'snot-free' soon.
Having trouble keeping up at the moment , so forgive me fo no personal
It's our 10th wedding anniversay tomorrow - although we've been together for 19 years.
I don't want any jewellery or anything, so dh told me to go out and buy myself an outfit from head to toe. Do you think i can find anything i like?????:wall: We're going to go out for dinner on Saturday night - we'll share a Peking Duck - yummmmmmooooo!!
better get some more jobs done before Hannihooha wakes up.
love ya's!!
-
hello everyone
was supposed to have mothers group here today but i've had to cancel cos lewis has been so sick :(
now i'm just stuck at home bored with lewis and the dog....
i've dysoned the house so it looks sparkly. lewis is being a total pita atm ans won't let me put him down so i had to dyson with him in the ergo- not the easiest thing to do.
jaz- congrats on your anniversary
that's very exciting to get a new outfit. where do you think you'll get it from?
cally- big love is great isn't it? i'm a big fan of margene.
clare- i can't even imagine sleeping 12 hours now- i feel like i'm awake on and off all night. last night the smoke detector decided to let us know its batteries were flat at 1.15am.
arte- i can't believe you've got a walking toddler already! that's crazy. thanks for the tip on the prune juice btw (i think it was you). gave lewis some on tuesday then yesterday he had 5 massive poos!
sherie- glad to hear you've had some experience in roseola. yes it seemed that once the rash actually came out, most of the other symptoms went away.
hayley- well dp actually showed some initiative last night and changed lewis' nappy. only cos he was holding him and he did a massive poo but still, i was shocked when i walked in and saw him at the changetable.
-
Cally are you watching season 1 or 2? I loooove that show, season 2 is getting even weirder than season 1 was, if that's even possible LOL. Heading to QE2 next week, have decided it's probably really good timing and apparently there's a counsellor there too which is good because I'm FREAKING OUT now that I'm only only 3 weeks off being a single mummy again.
MM and Clare - so glad E is not the only bub with only 2 toofies - or even none! Aaargh she's been teething and in pain for such a long time, it's not fair little bubba. I feel like a bad mumma for our reliance on baby panadol etc, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
Pregpan - far out about your new position - sounds exciting. I'm sure you will love your time in Melb too. Remember though, you've got to squeeze me in for a coffee sometime before December ;)!
Chepie, good luck with the return to work. I've been taking a week here or there of "annual leave" in the middle of my mat leave which brings in a few dollars at a time. It's never really enough but our financial situation has been far worse than this in the past and I know we can live frugally when we need to. However am planning to return to work when E is around 18 mths old, maybe 3 days a week if I can.
Gracie, sorry your visit to the drs was a waste of time. How are you feeling about taking another year's leave next year?
Arte, wow snow at your place! My emigrant friends have had snow on their property too - amazing! It does feel like there's snow in the air right now but it's too dry here ATM.
Trillian, my (.Y.)s are holding up just fine, I'll let the girls know you were asking after them LOL. TBH I think my supply has dropped anyway cos E is such a busy little beetle, she really only has a couple of good long feeds a day and I sometimes worry if this means she will wean earlier than H did. But just lately she's getting more demanding about asking for boobie so maybe not.
Speaking of beetles, I just scored a wheelie bug on ebay (buzzy bee colours). Am going to hide it in the cupboard for Christmas.
Jaz, congrats on the anniversary! Enjoy your time out together.
Re the trackies, I don't really have any but I'm eyeing off some night aubergine velour ones at Myer right now! LOL if you're going to live in them they might as well be 'up market' ROFL.
I'm sure there's more but I must away. ((Hugs)) to everyone!
-
BTW, how many of the ergo mummies have mastered the back carry? I tried it the other evening while DH was out but I couldn't work out how to get the second strap over my shoulding without risking dropping E!! LOL
-
hi md- i just had lewis on my back in the ergo while i was vacuuming. it's much easier to 'get stuff done' when they're on your back, and i like it for long walks. i have to get someone to help me put him in it though. i can't do it by myself. luckily dp slept in this morning and went to work late so he gave me a hand, otherwise i would've been stuck with him on my front.
i'm excited about taking another year's leave. i feel really lucky that i'm able to. we'll probably start ttc in january so i can sort of 'kill 2 birds with one stone'- if i'm going to be home another year i may as well be pg iykwim? i absolutely struggled working while pg. i found it so draining!
your trackies sound hot! my favourite pairs are roxy ones and peter alexander ones LOL
-
MD and Gracie: oh jeez, if you girls are wearing upmarket trackies then i had better get shopping. i am wearing my VERY attractive bonds maternity ones! ewwww they are so not sexy. DH walks in this morning, there i am in my trackies, with a cardigan on that i have had since i was 9yrs old...yes, it is very stretched, but i just love it, my hair was all over the place and i was covered in regurgitated baby milk and he says: man, you are sexy...and he meant it!! ROFL! i told him that it was obvious that he had no taste or was desperate or BOTH!! LOL!!!
yeah i havent mastered the art of back carrying ergoness...in fact i havent tried. leila is the bub that likes to throw herself backwards and i am just not sure it would be safe yet. do you guys have this prob? it's the same with the bike. she is old enough and big enough, but just cant keep still, and i just dont trust her there on the back where i cant see or reach her. i was thinking about buying the MamaBike, as you can either have them on the front or back...
Gracie: sounds like a plan re the pg for next year. i reckon it would be nice to have that time off. especially as it will be very different from the first pg as we'll have little ones under our feet. i dont know how i'll cope being pg and not being able to have my afternoon nanna nap!:o
he he re the smoke alarm. did lewis sleep through it ok? i find leila doesnt even budge, but dare you touch the door knob of her room and she is awake and partying....
JazMum: congratulations on the 10 year mark!! that is fantastic! and wow 19 years. oh yum peking duck...mmmmmmm...wish i was eating peking duck. ikwym about not finding everything. i find that when i am out and about not shopping for myself i find heaps and then when i go to buy stuff, there is nothing!
anyway best dash...smiles to you all!
-
Hi Girls,
Gracie- Congrats on having another year off.
Cherpie- Hi and Welcome back
Jazmum- Happy Anniversary for tomorrow. Where are you going out for dinner.
Art- Party Planning is in full swing. The boys party is next Sunday... OMG MY BOYS ARE 3 NEXT SUNDAY.... I am still in shock. We are having a BBQ Lunch with friends and family coming over. Just have a few more pressies to buy then they are done. They are really really excited about their birthday its really cute. ATM I am going crazy with partys, my niece turns 4 on Sunday so we are off to her dress up party Olivia is going as a princess and X as Spiderman and J as Batman.. I am also madley planning Olivias Birthday too....
Sherie- LOL at the farting episode this morning...
-
MD - Have just been watching Season 2. I have been recording it each week but yesterday was the first time I got to sit down and watch it, although I am now fully caught up. Took me a little while to work out all the characters, but I'm really enjoying it. Almost wish I hadn't watched it until the end of the season!
Clare - I have my Bonds maternity tracky pants on now! I also have an Esprit pair that is my 'fancy' pair.
Gracie - lucky you having another year off.
Jazmum - wow 10 years! Congratulations.
Oh she's awake.
-
aaaaaggg i'm so friggin nauseous today. knowing my luck, just when we decide to not ttc until january, i'm probably already utd!!
just kidding, i've probably got food poisoning or something, but i definitely feel like spewing.
cally- glad we've got someone else to talk about big love with. did you watch season 1 as well or just join in to season 2?
my dad tried to pick it up at the start of season 2 but found it too weird.
leanne- you are such a party animal these days LOL
clare- yes lewis slept through the alarm but it was me that was bl**dy woken by it. so annoying. lewis is being a total pita today though- he's doing that thing where he only wants to sleep with my nipple in his mouth. it's so wrong!!!
yes i think you need some new trackies. i have turned into the queen of trackies and hoodies this year :) very roberta williams.
lewis doesn't really move in the ergo on my back. sometimes he'll have a whinge if i stand too still eg. trying to do the dishes or something. he wants me to always be moving.
-
I have had a shocker today. Lu keeps trying to let go of whatever she is holding and stand on her own but the balance isn't quite up to the brain. I went to have a shower and DH was watching her. He turned his back for 2 seconds and she fell and cracked her head on the lino. I heard the crack from the other end of the house. I ran out and DH gave her to me, she went all still and limp and quiet for a few seconds which scared me, then she started vomitting. At this point i kinda freaked out! Took her to Dr, fortunately all is ok, but scared the crap out of me.
I had already taken her to the Dr yesterday about her ongoing intermittent temp. Got a urine sample and turns out she has a bladder infection. So now on AB's and hopefully back to normal, the poor little thing has been through the ringer lately. I need to get a helmet i think. Talk about mumma guilt. It's running high over here.
Enough about me
We have the back carry with the Ergo mastered. I needed help in the begining but i can manage on my own now. I started by putting her in when it was on my hip and sliding it around. It's a bit of a stuggle and i am sure alot of people get a laugh out of me putting it on!
Gracie- hoodies and trackies is my uniform!
Is anyone on here called Tiffany? Someone from BB has requested to be my facebook friend, but i only accept people that i know IYKWIM, so before i reject them want to make sure it's not one of my new friends in here!
Sorry for lack of personal posting, it's been a big day.
-
**** ange!!! so glad lu is ok. how scarey for you hun
are you still online now? i want to pm you about something
-
I've had a horrible day so far. I finally got my act together and left the house (yesterday I had to go out and started getting ready at 10.30 but didnt leave the house till 3!!) with our passport applications, only to find you have to have an appointment to drop them off. Talk about emotional, I almost burst into tears at the counter! I controlled myself though and made it back to the car, where I had a cry. I dont even know why I was crying really! When I was packing Maddie's pram into the car I was yanking at my bag stuck under the pram, it wouldnt budge. So I said the F word whoops and turned around and there was a nanna giving me the evils and tutting at me, as if to say how can you talk like that around a baby. Usually I dont & I felt so bad. I just wish I could feel better because lately I feel like I cant be bothered with anything. I wake up with a pounding headache every morning. Then this morning Maddie woke up with very crusty eyes, in fact her face was covered in it and they have been red and sore all day...oh please dont tell me its conjunctivitis AHHHH! Anyway thats enough of my boo hoo poor me rant.
LAMO Gracie at Lewis doing his sleeping with the nipple thing. Typical male!! At least you wear name brand trackies, I've got the el cheapos from bestandless hahaha I wouldnt be caught dead outside the home in it though. I desperately need new clothes!
Jazmum - Congratulations and happy anniversary. Did you end up getting an outfit?
Leemar - 3 wow has the time flown by? I cant believe one day I'll have a 3 yr old.
Clare - Thats really nice that your DH can still say your sexy even when you dont feel it. How sweet!
Arte - Cant believe you have a toddler now, thats crazy. He is doing so well.
MD - Whats a wheelie bug? You are an ebay queen!!
Trillian - Sorry to hear you had a bad sleep also, but had to laugh at Alister and his trumpet bum!
-
Falguni - OMG How scary!! So glad she is ok now. Especially the vomiting bit thats scary. Poor thing what a shock for you all.
-
Still here Gracie. ;)
MM- Sounds like you've had a shocker too. When bubs have a snotty nose and rub it in their eye it is easy fo rthem to get conjunctivitis. Hope its not, and hope you feel better soon, feeling sick really gets you down.
-
MM: i hear you sista! i find that when i am tired and/or sick i get pretty emotional. i had a shocker yesterday as we were out all day and i had a head cold coming on. i was also trying to organise last minute tickets for my opa (grandad) to fly to holland as we just found out his brother has terminal cancer and was told he has a max of 4 weeks. so i guess with that news i was also pretty emotional.
make sure to not feel to bad about it tho'. you have to let yourself be cranky and upset at times, it's better than bottling it all up. and remember if it seems to be getting really down go and see your MACH nurse. I went and saw mine the other week and she was great, got me in contact with a good PND support group (panda). and even just after one big chat to one of their counsellors i have felt a WHOLE world better!! to you!!
-
Far out ladies - we're doing it tough today! Big hugs to Ange and MM especially!!
Hayley - do you know why you're getting headaches - do you think it might be a side effect of being on the pill? (if so see your dr for a different script). Also it sounds like you might be feeling a little depressed as well? Worth getting some support if you are, Clare's suggestion is a really good one!
BTW I found a pretty cute little vid on youtube that shows a wheely bug just like E's, here.
Far out Ange, so glad Luella is ok! V. scarey, esp with the vomitting! Also good you're getting on top of the bladder infection, they can be sneaky like ear infections and even sometimes tonsillitis! I'm sure she will be feeling better soon. Also, don't waste your precious energy feeling guilty, it never does any good at all!
Clare sorry to hear about your granduncle. I didn't realise you were feeling depressed - good to hear you've found some support and are feeling better already! I haven't heard of the Mamabike so I'll google that later on. Not sure about the throwing backwards, E went thru a stage of doing this when we were holding her but mostly seems over it now.
Gracie - jeepers nauseous lady! Take some ginger, any which way it will help you feel a bit better!
Cally - You'd love season 1! I had it all on my harddrive but deleted it recently, pity! I spoke to one of the ladies at QE2 today, she sounds really nice. I'm feeling better and better about going now.
Leanne, how are those pooin' kids of yours LOL! Wow sounds like you're getting pretty excited about the party. IKWYM about not believing your babies are 3 already - imagine how I felt when my lil girl turned TEN last week! Where does the time go?
Well I had another little stroke of op shop good fortune today, found a little snow suit in E's size (yay!) as well as a little rocking horse! It's solid wood and well made so I'm stoked!
-
hi everyone
wow it has been busy in here!!
MM and Falguni - sounds like you have been having a bad day - big hugs!!MM i think it sounds like it woul dbe good for you to have some rest, so a drop off at your parents sounds like a good plan to me, dont feel guilty over that if you can do it! i took N to FDC today just so i could have sme me time and went to the hairdresser, felt bad til i put it in context of how good it is for me etc etc and really it does him no harm at all. my guilt would do more harm! take the time for yourself honey, you need it!
Ange - so glad Lu is ok, it sounded awfula nd my heart was pounding reading your post - i am so glad she is ok and that you guys are too.
Leeanne - wow party central!! I guess I better start thinking what to do for Mr N. i think we will have 2 parties - 1 here and 1 in melb. sometimes i feel like i am living 2 lives LOL!
Thanks for the cograts re work - still dont know if i am crazy for doing it but my excitement weighs out other feelings (the eternam guilt, fear etc etc). i think i will end up with overnighters - the day trips and exhsuating and also i dont get as much done as i should for the effort. it is scary and for DH to to think about doin anight without me, but i am sure once we start it will become part of the routine and voila we will be fine. have any of you noticed a much stronger bind bn your dp/dh and bubs lately? i feel like my DH is coming into his own - he has always been pretty good but i think til recently eh got a bit frustrated that when push came to shove he couldnt do much and when N really cried he got stressed. now he is so tender with him and much more comfortable with what to do with him - it is beautiful to watch.
best be going - we are going to sydney tomorrow for the weekend and lots to do here to get ready.
-
Aw thanks girls for the advice. I dont think its depression, I just feel so run down from being sick and I'm getting peeved that I cant shake it. To top it off I'm not getting much sleep due to Maddie not being 100% herself. Those two combinations make me loose the plot, I am a person who needs 8 hrs plus a night! Also the thought has crossed my mind that this darn pill is making my emotions loopy. MD the headaches are from my cold, they are sinus headaches and they make you feel horrible.
Pregpan - Have fun in Sydney! I agree time out does a world of good for us mummies. I dont know if I will be dropping Maddie off with my parents anytime soon though as they are going away this weekend. Doesnt matter I guess.
Clare - I didnt realise you were feeling depressed, I might take your advice to talk to someone. I dont think I am depressed, but maybe I am in denial?? So sorry to hear about your granduncle thats so sad. :(
MD - OMG how cool is the wheelie bug!! I want one for myself! That little girl is gorgeous.
Falguni - Thats exactly what has happened, she had a shocker of a runny nose last night & must have got a heap in her eyes and irritated them. So now they are all yucky. Bummer I didnt know snotty noses could cause conjunctivitis!
-
Morning Yummy Mummy's,
MD- Pooing is going great finally I think we are becoming regular. I was so excited last night as Xavier finally did a poo on the toilet. Toilet training I have found to be quite hard. They both wee on the toilet but when it comes to pooing they just wont. Always requesting a pull up on so they can poo. Well last night I had no pull ups left and told Xavier that he just has to poo on the toilet and after a few words he finally did it. We sort of made a big deal about it and took him to the shop to get a chocolate and congratulated him on doing it. lol lets hope it happens again today.... Jordy is going great now too. I should have a sign on the front door... WELCOME TO THE HOUSE OF POO.
Hayley-:hug::hug: I hope you feel better soon.
And to all our sick mumma's and Bubba's I hope you all get better soon:hug:
Hey I wonder how Noni is going in her new house.
-
DH had a work dinner last night and even though he came home for playtime before he left it must have thrown her routine out. She did not want to go to sleep. So much for my night of blobbing on the couch!
MD - the wheelybug looks great fun. I think we will get something like that for K's birthday.
MM - can DH take over resettling with M tonight so you can get some decent sleep? It's the weekend so he can always have a nap tomorrow. How's her eye this morning?
Pregpan - have a great time in Sydney. Wow, a haircut, not sure I remember what they are...
Ange - poor little L, how is she today? That would have been so scary when she started vomiting. I thought I stood on K's hand last night but it was just something she was holding and that made my heart race!
Well we are out of bread and milk here. Had to have yogurt for breakfast! So I think I'll be wandering down to the shops and getting a burger for lunch (mmm, yum). And some milk so K can have breakfast tomorrow.
Went out for lunch yesterday with PIL. K was so good, had fingers of broccoli, carrot and pumpkin and a chunk of pear for dessert. And it didn't go all over the pram which was lovely. I thought we were going somewhere with highchairs but ended up changing.
Well I really need to do some cleaning today. The place is a disaster zone because I've been TV watching the last few days. Look out bathroom here I come!!
-
Thanks everyone for thinking of us.
Cally- She is much better today, although i think she had a headache last night, she just wasn't herself. The poor thing didn't sleep too well.
MD- I managed to pick up a cow wheelybug at a secondhand baby and kids market recently. It was a steal! They are the best toy. Infact i think they have won loads of awards. I know what you're saying about guilt, I am forever saying that it is a wasted emotion, but i tell ya, that black cloud of guilt just sneaks up on you when you least expect it! Nice wcore on the rocking horse and ski suit. We live about an hour and a half from the snow here, so hopefully we get some snow so we can head up.
MM- I'm not 100% bu ti think you can get the drops for conjuctivitis over the counter at the pharmacy. I think thats' what a GF told me, although i could be totally wrong.
Pregpan- i presumed you would stay in Melb for the 3 days, wow that's one big day at work! I have definatley noticed DH being a bit more interactive, but i tell ya what i do feel like a big nag alot of the time. Why do men need so much prompting sometimes?!
Garcie- Hope you and the little man are feeling better today and that you don't have gastro.
New house rule- either bare feet or shoes for Lu, not as slippery on the lino. ;)
-
Well I feel like a new woman this morning. Early to bed last night. Maddie did wake up twice but all it took was a dummy in the mouth and she was off again. I also feel alot better and for once have woken up without this headache. Still have a runny nose myself but ah well feeling better thats the main thing. My only worry is its 9am and Maddie is still asleep, I hope she isnt too sick, her eyes look crusty :(
Maddie is 9 MONTHS today! Crazy.
MD - Well you have DP and I hooked on wheely bugs. We watched that video so many times, the girl is such a cutie. How do people make videos of their kids like that, they must have a special editing program, can anyone recommend a good one? So anyway we are keeping our eyes open for one now.
Falguni - Thanks I will check out the pharmacy today.
Cally - Our house is always a disaster zone lol.
Leemar - LMAO at welcome to the house of poo. Yay so glad Xavier did a poo on the toilet, thats good that you made a big deal out of it then hopefully he will get the idea that he has done the right thing and keep on doing it!

MM: Marydean's Surefire Sinus Cure
* Use Fess nasal spray - use it several times a day, maximum number of sprays (ie buy the big bottle haha).
* Soak a facewasher in water that is as hot as you can stand, wring it out, let it cool for a few seconds, then fold it into three and place it over your eye/sinus area. Relax. Make sure it's hot but not so hot that you burn yourself. Repeat this 2 or 3 times over a few minutes, then do it several times a day
* Drink lots of water and as many hot drinks as you can get down (recommend trying some nice herbals like lemon ginger twist)
* See the dr in case you have a *real* sinus infection and need ABs!!!
HTH, sounds like you're feeling really miserable. xxx PS DH uses an editing program for work called Adobe Premiere, you can get all those special effects using it, but you need plenty of RAM and drive space on your puter to use it.
Leanne, I bet you never thought you'd see the day where there was a) so much poo and b) you were so glad to see it! LOL Are the boys getting excited about their party now?
Gracie, how is L today - and how are you hun?
Pregpan, enjoy your weekend up at Sydenee. Your DH will be fine once he gets used to it, we've all had to weather parenting alone for several days/weeks at a time and come out ok the other end! ;)
Cally - Aw yum, ages since I've had a burger! Might have to 'go shopping' soon myself. Well done K with the tidy finger-food eating! We've got this fabric thing (actually made to hold them in the shopping trolley) that you can strap bubby into a regular chair (has to have slats and not a big hole at the back tho) which is often quite handy when we're out and about.
Ange, I know what you mean about slippery feet. I've rummaged through plenty of untidy baby sock displays to find the socks that have the little rubber grip pads on the bottom. Bonds does them and I've got some Rio ones as well but I haven't seen them at the shops again. When DD1 was little Bonds did wondersuits called "little adventurers" that had the grippy pads on the soles of the feet - aaah wish they still made those! Excellent once they are toddling about.
I had the parents as teachers lady around today, and she gave E a shiny metal mixing bowl and a spoon to play with - talk about keeping her entertained! The bowl was especially good cos it makes such interesting noises but it also catches the light and she can see her reflection in it. Am going to look for one at the shops today!
-
Hi Girls,
MD- The boys are really excited about their party. Its wonderful to see their faces. I too am very excited.
Hayley- I am so glad you are feeling bettter today. Re the crusty eyes you can buy the conjuntivitis stuff from over the counter at the chemist but I have found it doesnt work as good as the stuff the Dr Prescribes.
Ange- Glad to hear Lu feeling better

i'm baaaaaaaak!!!!!
had a few dramas re connecting the internet grr the company we were with wanted to charge us $145 to relocate the service and $40 to disconnect lol so i signed up with a new company.. didnt like the old one anyway made sure when i signed up there was no rediculous fees like that for if we moved lol..
well weve had all the usual moving house dramas lol my dad hit the fence with the moving truck so theres a bit of aa gouge out of the wood there that we needa fix lol the fridge died and we are borrowing my mums second fridge and the crappy old washing machine someone gave us dosnt wash properly lol that and the rediculous amount companies charge you to get things like electricity set up lol.. all in all though its really nice to finally be in our own space and not worry about anyone else.. Asha is loving it crawling around as she pleases shes got 3 teeth now and the 4th one is coming and the teething poos are like nothing i could have imagined!! the rash that goes with it is pretty awful too!! ummmm what else asha is pulling herself to her feet now instead of just her knees which is pretty exciting!!
hope everyone is going well havnt had a chance to catch up on everything yet as the postman literally just delivered my modem and i was so excited i had to come straight on and post coz i felt so isolated without the net!!
:) good to be back hehehehehe
-
YAY! Noni's back! We've missed you hun, everyone's been wondering how you're going in your new house! Sounds like all the regular moving dramas (I don't think I have *ever* had a move without at least one appliance dying) and how funny is your Dad hitting the fence with the truck! Sorry shouldn't laugh but a fence-hitting story is always good value! I KWYM about those teething poos, aaaaah pure acid I think. WTG Asha pulling up onto her feet (gotta move everything another foot or two higher LOL)!
-
Well Maddie finally woke up, eyes filled with gunk. The poor thing is so sad, I've been hand washing like crazy and linen/clothing washing in warm water. I've heard its very contagious though so hopefully DP & I can keep away from it. Poor Mads. :(
Yay Noni I am so happy & excited for you!! Now you can walk around the house nakie whenever you want hehe. Yes moving is fun but there are always dramas attached! I also had a little laugh at your dad backing into the fence sorry lol.
MD - THANKS SO MUCH! I will give MD's sinus headache remedy a go. Bum I've just been at the chemist I should have bought some fess. Hang on I just checked & we have some WOO HO! Thanks MD. I also stocked up on vitamin c & echenacea? tablets, I hate feeling like this. Does your DH make little clips of the girls? I worry because we have so much of Maddie on camera but I havent even uploaded the videos, which I should seeing as if we had a break in the video camera would probably go. I must check out that program thanks for the recommendation.
Leemar - Thanks I got some over the counter stuff, so I'll give that a go along with salt water and camomile tea. If it doesnt improve off to the doc I go!
-
I'm still alive everyone LMAO. Just so unbelievably busy. Paige's birthday today - my baby girl is 4!!!!!! She loved her bulldozer LOL, now Lindsay is narked because she wont let him play with it and he keeps ranting about it being a stupid idea to get a girl a boy's toy. made this obscenely fiddly Strawberry Shortcake cake to have at preschool today - will post a pic later.
Will be out nearly all weekend too - Auskick and Netball tomorrow morning and then there is an Auskick carnival on Sunday. Then Monday we are off to wagga to pick up Lindsay's new specks.
To all those mummy's with sickly babes, I hope they are all on the mend soon, it near breaks your heart to see them feeling so poorly.
-
MD just popped on to say I am so silly, why on earth didnt I use the Fess before!? I am already feeling much better all the pressure seems to have eased!
Sherie - Yay Happy bday to Paige! Thats so funny of Lindsay! I cant imagine having a 4 year old....
-
Happy Birthday to Paige! I would have loved a digger when i was a kid, i always wanted what my brothers had. Can't wait to see s'berry shortcake. Take me back to me childhood.
Lu has developed a rash on her torso. Have stopped AB's and will get it checked in the morning. Man i feel like i live at the freaking Dr's ATM! Wonder if they have frequent flyers?
MM- You seem to be having a bad run too! Hopefully next week is better for us all.
MD- Those bonds suits sound awsome, wish they still had them. Might check out the bonds factory outlet, ya never know.

Hi Girls! am admitting to scanning but not posting!! have been trying to get busy on one of my chapters...12,000 words so far....:o
MD: yeah i need one of those grippy feet wondersuits too!! not for me obviously....lol! although...
yeah, i think looking back on it that i did have pretty bad PND. at the time i just kept on truckin', as i thought that it was what and how most mums felt. oh and teensy bit of denial can go a looonggg way! i think things though are getting better. lots of good support around for it these days. it does concern me though that it might come back if we have another baby so that is stopping me from wanting to TTC for no.2. bit bummed but Leila is the BEST (unbiased LOL!) bub in the world, and we were told we probably wouldnt be able to make babies, so she is extra precious!
what is the parents as teachers thing?? sounds interesting!! IKWYM about the bubs loving the bling bling shiny stuff! we have a whole dinner set in stainless steel from our Fiji days and leila cuts loose on them in the kitchen, banging them everywhere thinking she is a rock god or something.
Sherie: oh i soo needed you to be my mum when i was about 5/6 years old! i really really wanted a tonka truck!!
Noni: welcome back sista!! wow you are fast in getting the Internet back on! takes me ages to get my A into G!
Ange: jeepers! that rash sounds scary. hope it can get sorted out asap. poor wee bubs ATM so many are sick!
Leanne: Good luck for the festivities this weekend! how exciting for the boys! i still remember my 4th birthday...we ran feral all through the backyard high as kites on red cordial and fairy bread....
Cally: we are also out of bread and milk!! yippeee know what i am doing tomorrow!! LOL! i love a good excuse for eating the goodies!
Pregpan: SNAP!! we do the same with Leila at childcare. every second friday DH and I have a 'date' day. we both take time off and go and have us time. usually to the movies and a cafe/restaurant that we cant take leila to! it is great for us as we dont have family around to help out, so this is our bit of R and R! highly recommend it to anyone!
AFM: well leila is definitely not a healthy little chooky ATM. she has no voice and her nose is running like niagra. she has temps, but managed to spurt most of the panadol down her front, so now i have to wait the 6 hours before i try again...egad. i am also sick, so head feels a bit like jelly...may have to take MD sinus relief regime! LOL!
My granduncle just found out that my Opa is coming and is over the moon. my Opa hasnt been back to Holland in almost 20 years. (Bill my uncle has always had to come here!). so now he is upgrading my Opa to business class!!! they are very close as they lost their mum during WW2 when they were 9 and 12 years old and had to live on the streets for 3 years in indonesia before being captured by the Japanese forces (then spent the rest of the war in a camp). they were sent back to holland after the war, but neither really spoke Dutch and neither had ever seen holland! so they really relied on eachother during this time. must have been pretty terrifying. so yeah, it's a big moment for both of them.
anyway, best dash as i had told myself that i was coming out here to do work!! (yeah right!)
hugs to you all!
-
sounds like all the bubbies are sick atm biiig get well vibes to them all and any mummies suffering too!!
cassius - lol i cant go without internet i feel cut off from the world with dp working and no money to go anywhere and no car lol its my saving grace!!
falguni - lmao @ drs having frequant fliers i think u should introduce that idea!! maybe you could become a priority customer after building up so many points? would be nice not to have to wait lol.. i hate waiting at the drs!!
sherie -Happy Birthday Paige!!! yay strawberry shortcake!! how cute cant wait to see it..
haley- lol yep always good to hear a good running into the fence story!! idk aboutwalking around naked lol but its great not to inhibit yourself based on what others might be thinking in your own home..
anyways best be off ive been giving asha green tea and apple juice with her breakfast and dp dosnt know how to make it lol its terribly difficult lmao!!
-
Noni, good to hear your move went well (mostly). IKWYM about the internet, ours was down for a day a while ago and I had NOTHING to do. I actually got so bored I cleaned!
MM, hope you are feeling better.
Clare, sounds like your Opa and his bro had an interesting (scary) childhood! It will be great for them to spend some time together. Hope you and L are feeling better soon too!
Sherie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Paige :cheer: She is so big now! She was just a little 2 year old last year when we were pg!
MD, what part of lovely NZ did your friends move to? This weather is crud at the moment, won't stop raining. Starting to wonder why I left QLD LOL I bought about 6 pairs of socks with grips on the bottom but the damn things won't stay up so I can't use them Grrrr.
Ange, Hope L is o.k
What do you guys do in the evenings when bub is in bed? ATM W goes to bed around 8-8.30pm, then DH and I have nothing to do. We have been doing sci-fi marathons but NZ has crap broadband deals so we don't have the data allowance we used to for downloading them. I have got the first season of Babylon 5 to watch now, but I was wondering what everyone else does that isn't T.V? I feel like at the end of my life all I will be able to say was that I watched a lot of television.
William has been practicing changing direction while walking - he has his arms out in front and points them the way he wants to go and then the rest of him follows. It is very cute. We went to McDonalds last night and I let him play in the kids area - he loved it! There is a cave for under 3's and inside were buttons that made animal noises and a steering wheel (he can make the bruuummm noise, so funny).
-
Hi Girls!, just a quick one from me as Leila is stirring as i type (some in-built sensors me thinks!!).
Arte: hhmmm have to be with you on that one! we go to the nearest DVD shop and buy out whole series! currently we have carnivale. we have gone through six feet under, weeds, buffy the vampire slayer (my personal fav!!), arrested development and deadwood. phew! we dont have a social life!!! LOL! no seriously, once leila is in bed (7ish) we rip out a candle and have a nice dinner together with a glass of wine or beer and catch-up...then we watch the night away!! although the last few nights we havent been able to sleep, so like last night for instance, we were lying in bed giggling like school girls until 1 in the morning!! HA! we sooo paid for it today!
I'm thinking that once winter is over though, we will take advantage of our verandah more and hang out there instead of inside in the warmth, that way we avoid the tv...
re the grip socks: have you tried the ultra fashionable style of pulling them up and over the bottom of their pants? we find they stay on better/longer that way.
Noni: tell me about it! i am a BB addict! i dont think i really look at anything else anymore on the internet!! LOL! i have been recommending it to everyone who is TTC, pg, or has kiddies!! LOL!
anyhoo best dash as i have to make a casserole tonight...wish me (and poor DH!) luck!
