Happy Birthday Hannah!!! What a gorgeous way to do all the presents! Enjoy the party on the weekend.
Pregpan - I haven't bought any presents yet for K, my sister ordered the trike so we haven't even had to pay for that yet. I have been on a pretty strict budget for the last few months, but I think the credit card is going to get a bit of a work out in Canberra next week as there is lots that I want to get before I go back to work (which reminds me I should go and try some of my work pants on as I am a bit concerned they won't fit and I may need to get some more). Have a great time in Bali.
Rainy - glad that you are feeling better about L's sleeping, I'm sure there will be a very excited family when they hear they can go to sleep school earlier.
Apparently Blutac isn't toxic - K was chewing on some yesterday so I rang the Poisons line.
Kate - woohoo on finding a ladybug!
Arte - we just use cotton prefolds with Baby Beehinds covers. Very simple and cheap. Did you make the offer on the house? The housing manager sounds like a PITA.
Well I've just made a batch of chewy double chocolate chip cookies for DH and his friends that are coming around tomorrow to lay our new turf.
Leemar - have fun at your party on the weekend.
I put K's hair up in a little clip yesterday (not long enough for pigtails yet!) and she looked so adorable!
ETA - forgot to say that DH said he didn't want anything for fathers day, just a card, but he would cope if we bought him chocolate so I will do that. He is very difficult to buy for.
Thanks Pregpan and Cally :)
I wish all of you guys could come to Hannah's party. After all, you've been a major part of our lives for the past 18/19 months!!!!
Happy First Ever Birthday Hannah!!! Gee she sounds like a little monkey climbing and escaping from everything lol, so cute! The pop tent party tradition sounds really cool!
Rainy, that is fantastic to hear that Lewis is finally sleeping better. Did you change anything (ALL my hopes are now on you guys, please tell me there is a magic cure!)? I am so exhausted today, he is waking a billion times and staying awake grizzling instead of going straight back to sleep. And he has decided that 6am is a good wake up time Grrr. He is getting a tooth though so hopefully it is just a temp problem.
MD, lol about the boxes - I had grand plans for something crafty with them but never got around to actually doing it :wall: I would have spacked it if mum had chucked them! Our first offer on the house got rejected, have upped it a bit and haven't heard back yet.
Pregpan, only one more sleep!!!
Cally, are your parents back yet? Will they be back in time for K's birthday? It is sooo adorable when they click that mum and dad are words that mean something - W stands at the ranch slider and squeals dad dad dad when DH pulls in from work, then he runs (well, walks quickly) to the other door yelling it the whole way. It is very cute.
Leemar, lol at the boys going for the cake armed with spoons!
Hi girls, just quickly jumping on while M sleeps to say:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANNAH!!!!
Jazmum you are such a great mum, what a beautiful birthday you have organised for H.
Arte - Good luck with the house! Hope you get it as that guy sounds like an absolute jerk.
Cally - We are in the same boat with being on a budget so I havent gone overboard with pressies. I've just got the smart trike on layby (for chrissy). As for her bday I am sure granny (MIL) is getting a wheelie bug, my mum I have no idea but she will get something awesome and we'll buy her a few special things as well. Not going crazy though.
Leemar - I was thinking of baking a cake for daycare too. Might ask about it next week. Oh no those little cheeky boys glad you caught them in time. Had a little laugh about that, munchkins! Good luck for Sunday & cant wait to hear all about it.
Rainy - So glad L is back on top with his sleeping. Will look out for him in the spotlight catalogue.
Kate - Yay for finding a wheelie bug!
Noni - Did you go to dinner in the end? Hope you made up.
In a bit of dilemma about M's bday party, as I've just realised that the grand final is on her bday! I hope people will come and not stay home to watch it lol. Feel a bit sorry for DP as he has been offered as an incentive at work to be flown over for the grandfinal and stay in a flasho hotel for the weekend. I told him to go for it because its a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'll change the weekend for M's party, but he wont have a bar of missing out on her 1st birthday. What a nice daddy.
We are having a much needed date night tonight, as M is going for a sleepover with grandma & granddad. They are so excited. I am nervous as its my first night away from her.
Anyway must run, hope you are all well & come back Renee!
Happy Birthday Hannah, I bet you're all plumb tuckered out from your big day today! And Happy birthing day to you Jaz, I thought of you when I got up this morning and what you were doing 12mths ago! I got a bit teary thinking that this is the start of all our babies' birthdays.
Arte - my parents got back a week ago, mum has had a week of lots of time with my niece so she can concentrate on K next week when we come up! She is so excited about it, has rung every day this week saying 'I'm so looking forward to Monday and seeing Katie'. (I'm looking forward to a couple of sleep ins too!)
MM - That's great of DH, forgoing the grand final for the first birthday. Have fun tonight I'm sure she will have a ball at her sleepover.
wow, 12 months since I stopped work. Only 3 weeks until I have to go back....
Hello everyone,
Happy Birthday Hannah...bit late...i hope she's asleep!
Have fun for her party. the tent idea is cute :P
Congratulations on trying to buy a house, good luck with the offer, i hope the owners accept the offer. There's a website that you can check how much the house was bought for, and it's value at that time i think. I'm sure if it's available to the public tho, my friends father owned a realestate agency.
JazMum- Where abouts in Bris are you?
Leemar- Are you in Rothwell? Are there any baby groups around here? I'm in Deception Bay for the time being, attempting to move back to Brissy. I'm desperate to get Chessa mixing in with other children around her age, but I don't want to take her to child care...
catch u later later, Oh! i saw those wheelie bugs, they're so cute!!! i only got to see the bumble bee n the mouse, but the mouse ssoooo won!! hehe, are they normally $80? that's an alright price if they're wooden.
hi cinta - i'm at Keperra.
Is it nice there? my partner spent some of his littly years there, he only remembers bad stuff...he's lovely...*cough*
Hi Cinta
As with most suburbs, there is a dodgy part, and a nice part. Thankfully we don't live close to the dodgy side. lol.
hi everyone!! just a quick post from me... off to bali today so have a wonderful week and think of me tonight on the flight!! back in a week or so with lots of stories to tell.
have a great week with your gorgeous bubbas
xxxxxx
Sending Hannah a Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
that tradition sounds gorgeous and like lots of fun for everyone!
IKWYM! i soo want everyone to be there for Ls birthday! although i have only been around since Jan (i think), you guys are my rock!
Cinta: we are also having Ls birthday in a park. we have hired a community house that's in the park as Melbourne is notorious for inclement weather...so if it rains we have a back up plan...
i have friends living in keperra ATM too. they love it. they have a 3 year old and are TTC #2...so i guess it's baby friendly!
we paid closer to $90....so good price me thinks LOL!
Arte: any news on the house yet??? i need to live vicariously through you. we went to see a house today for $410,000. lovely, pity that it has no kitchen, bathroom, lounge and half the rooms have sky views...oh and it's sinking into a pit hole....egad. melbourne is madness.
Cally: oohh we are also having my Mum around next week. can't wait!!! she is also really excited. we dont get to catch up much, so it should be really special. i just wish leila could remember it tho'...
ahh, i too have been doing loads of reminiscing. when i see heavily pregnant chicks around these days it gives me pangs as that was me this time last year...flat out on a couch though...LOL!
Leanne: oh! baking a cake for kindy!! egad! i am soo not talented enough...luckily Ls kindy does it for us. the nerves would kick in if i had to bake....poor leila, she will ever only know store bought from her mummy.
MM: arghh this time of year is tricky for Weekends. i forgot it was fathers day on sunday and had to change Ls day to the saturday! My DH wont be here for Ls real birthday. i am really bummed about it as he almost missed it last year!! then had to go straightaway to pick up family from the airport, then leila got sick and had to spend the rest of the day and night in SCN....was hoping we could make up for it this year, but to no avail!
oohh so jealous about your 'date'! and that you get to have night to yourselves!!! dont stress about it! all will be good and just imagine how smiley she'll be when you get to pick her up. and i am sure that her grandparents will be stoked at having her around.
For fathers day i got L to do a painting and i am putting it into a nice frame.
AFM: well i have been outta action yesterday as i spent all this time on a great post to you girls only to have bellybelly go belly up and lose the darn thing. soo frustrating. so i apologise for the missed personals. got too peeved to go back through...so promise to keep up here on in!
Ls sleep is only getting better ATM (sorry Arte! know how hard it can be to read this kind of stuff when you are still doing the midnight boogie...we were on that dance floor only a week ago and is still fresh in my mind lol!). last night we had big first! we had friends over with their 12 month old and three year old. L was getting really tired so i got her in her jammies and fed her out in the lounge with everyone (usually at bed time we go to the room) she had a quick feed then popped off to do some playing, fell asleep with toys in her hand on the floor at 7pm (too cute!!). so i popped her in her cot and she slept soundly til 6.30am!!! it's the first time that i didnt feed to sleep and it worked!!!
she also ate kangaroo for the first time last night...LOVED it!
Clare - Wow L's bday sounds like its going to be great fun! I hope it doesnt rain for you.
Pregpan - Will be thinking of you tonight on the plane. Good luck and enjoy yourself.
Cally - Are you going back to work f/t or p/t? Are you nervous? The year has flown by.
Cinta - The mouse wheelie bug is gorgeous!
Well M had a great time with the grandparents. Apparently she slept through (that would be right) and they took her on a walk along the beach and down to the park this morning. She's bombed out in bed now lol.
DP & I went & saw 'Taken' at the movies. What a great movie!! We also had a bite to eat, and just enjoyed our time together really.
I'm a bit sad today though as my parents have just retired and are itching to go travelling. They initially said they would wait till after M's bday and then go, but they have changed their plans and now wont be here for her 1st birthday. I am dissapointed as it seems that my inlaws spend more time & effort with M than my own parents, and now for them not to be here for her very first bday hurts a bit. Its actually really put me off having a party for her, but we will see how we go I guess. :(
Now for some good news, my lovely friend had a baby boy last night, she named him Solomon. I am so happy for her, as she has had such a smooth pregnancy and her birth was even better. Started cramping at 2pm yesterday arvo, was in the bath by 6pm with contractions 3 mins apart. Headed to the hospital at 9pm and was 6cms dialated already. They put her back in the bath at the hospital, 15 mins later she wanted to push, they said no no too early but she pushed anyway. Sure enough the baby's head was right there & ready to go, so she'd birthed him by 10pm with no epidural, but went for the pethadine. I'm so proud of her!!!! So now I wanna know how come I had to have such a painful long birth HAHA.
Me too, MM. Life is a mystery sometimes. Re the grand final, could you do a little party earlier on in the day and then have guests linger on for a Grand final BBQ?:
So now I wanna know how come I had to have such a painful long birth HAHA.
Clare, I kwym about Father's Day, my birthday always falls near it (this year on it) which is a pain cos I sooo wanna be the centre of everyone's attention LOL.
Wow Jazah, sounds like you had a wonderful birthday with your cutiepatootie H! Love the idea of the popup tent, sounds so magical!
Leanne, your cake sounds wonderful, I'm thinking I'll have to do a practise run as I've never done royal icing before so I need to get a grip on how to handle it LOL.
Better go, I'm off to do some (nearly too late like usual) birthday invitations while missy's asleep.
Clare, lol the house we are looking at we offered $125K for! That is not the norm, in the town we are currently in an average house would be about $250K but it is the next town over and has a bad reputation but I have talked to quite a few mums from over there and although the town is dead (empty shops) there is a fantastic community spirit. I only ever knew store bought baking and I turned out alright lmao!
Leanne, how did the party go? Bet everyone looked absolutely adorable.
Cally, did your parents enjoy their trip? Bet they are hanging out to see K, she would have changed heaps since they last saw her.
MM, is your friend the one that was less than thrilled to be preg? Sounds like she had a good birth! I am planning that for next time lol. I am a bit annoyed at how little attention both our parents give W. We have lived 2 hours away for the last 7 months but my mum hasn't come up to visit. DH's parents have been once, they kept saying when we got back to NZ they would be here all the time.
Cinta, thanks for the tip about the house prices website, but I am in NZ :) I used to live in Brisbane (Camira) but we moved back in Feb. Chessa sounds like a very strong willed little girl! And a dare-devil too - perhaps she and Trillian's Alister would get on well!
William's new trick is to stand and pull on the fridge door when he is hungry, then I open it and he picks something to eat. Very cute, but I thought that I had until he was a teen before he started raiding the fridge!
We finally got out on the boat today. It was lovely and sunny, then we had fish and chips by the lake for lunch. Spring is in the air, I love driving past all the paddocks with cows with their calves (Baaaa) and Sheep with their little lambies (Neigh).
Arte - Yep thats the friend! I know she was getting excited from about 6 months onwards, but she would never actually come out & admit it. I caught her rubbing her belly once or twice. ;) Well by the sounds of it I can sympathise with you and the whole grandparent situation. It really upsets me especially seeing as the inlaws put so much time & effort into Maddie (although they drive me nuts at times) and I always thought it would be the other way around. I barely know my grandparents and I dont want it to be that way with my kids.
MD - I've told the boys the tv will be on for the grand final. We were going to have a party at kings park but I've changed it to at home due to the footy. Boo!
H, we are having Alister's party on the 27th too because that's the only saturday DH has off work, but the grand final wont be an issue because 1 its league territory up here LOL and 2 none of our circle of friends is into the football anyway.
Leanne, I hope the party went off great today.
Alister seems to have recovered from his cold now. His nose isn't runny anymore, his cough has settled and his appetite is back to normal. But the little angel has started climbing!!! I need that like I need a hole in the head LOL. He can climb on the lounge, he climbs into this little play table thing we have and he can get up the steps for the trampoline too. No good can come of this LOL - he'll send me grey before my time.
