hi everyone
thanks for the comments about my hairy bub!!!! if you believe old wives tales i guess that hair is the reason i basically kept mylanta in business during my pregnancy!! I'll let you know when i have put up some more pics.
Ella - really glad the weigh in went well, must feel great. how is the feeding going now? I cant believe you are cleaning the house in anticipation of MORE houseguests - you are the domestic queen. how is little red today?
Noni - I find that Noah is quite unsettled in the morning, he wants to be up and we want him to sleep LOL! and sometimes he has that 'suicide hour' thing going on in the evenings. I fidn if i distract him before it starts, say go for a long walk about 5ish then we get away without having the crying/screaming.. other times i try the ring sling (I have an Ellaroo) or the Bjorn and that sometimes helps too. or i just keep going through it and comfort myself that it is normal!! LOL!
Leeann - WTG on the weight loss - keep it up, I hope that gave you a good boost for the day! I will also be joining WW if my weight doesnt come off through all my exercise plans soon...
My hair hasnt been falling out yet.. i also heard it happens though - notlooking fwd to that, i also have thick hair so i could do with some faling out but i hope it doesnt go patchy!
Has anyone heard from Joasia or Cindy (Joel's girl) or Liddlepixie lately, i hope they are all going well. We never did hear back from Kate in Belly Buddies either - I wonder what happened there and hope she is OK too...
Have just been at an ABA meeting and have OB appt this afternoon so better go have some lunch...
-
MD - Katie has hairy ears too, but not on her back. I was checking them out this morning and I don't think she's lost any hair from them at all. She is fairly dark which caught everyone by surprise as DH and I are both fairly blond. DH is a bit of a throw back in his family though as the rest of them are dark.
Noni - DD is always unsettled in the evenings. I tend to pass her straight across to DH when he gets home. He is very good at settling her, they snuggle up on the couch together and she falls asleep every time, but it never works for me.
Leanne - that is a good weight loss, I wish I could do the same. Still have 5kgs to go to my prepregnancy weight but I think it will be hard as I worked really hard while TTC'ing to lose that 5kgs, so I may be stuck with it for a while. Staying off the brownies would help though!
DD went back to 4 hourly feeds overnight last night which was a shame as I was so stuffed from my big day yesterday. Then this morning, she went 5 hours (with a bit of awake time). I am getting much better at telling when she is starting to get tired and putting her into the bassinet. She just nodded off all by herself without any crying and this morning there was just a little bit of whimpering when I put her down.
What does everyone do with bubs when they are awake? We have a kick around on the playgym, listening to music and looking at the animals and we try to read a book as well and just wander around looking at things. She's starting to get big enough to make the rocker rock when she kicks so I've been putting her in that a bit more while I do stuff in the kitchen and talk to her. I think she found it a bit boring when she was just laying there.
Might have to start bringing out the bibs. She's been through 2 outfits today with wet spews all down the front and its a lot easier to change a bib.
Well we're off for a walk, hoping she wakes up soon, she's due for a feed just before her u/s appt so I''d like to get that out of the way. DH is coming too as I'm guessing it's going to be a noisy experience and it's better to have both of us there!

hello all
did u know that anz dnt think a drivers liscence a medicare card and a bank card is enough id??? my grandad asked me to open an anz account for Asha so he can put money in it each month (he does the same for my cousins 3 and 7) and i went in there with her birth certificate and all the stuff mentioned above and they told me i also needed a centrelink card or a bill geezz now i have to go back another time damn it..
well after a bit of net research i ended up going to ww.. got the same deal as u leanne with the $15 for the first meeting and no joining fee.. ended up buying a pack with a journal and a couple of points books in it for 30 since i didn't have to pay joining fee... Asha was the star of the show lol i had her in the baby bjorn and when the lady asked for a volunteer to hold her when i was about to be weighed so many ppl wanted to do it haha...
cally - we have times where we deffinately need bibs too lol.. when Asha is awake we talk to her, she lays on the lounge and watches everyone or she has a bouncer that she quite likes.. also if its not cold i have a play mat that can go on the floor sometimes i let her have a few mins on her tummy which she quite likes...
pregpan - we have "suicide hour" lol idk if its because of reflux and wind or if she just gets those when she works herself up lol Ash has a fair bit of hair too and i had really bad indegestion lol...
ella - yeah it will be interesting to see how my back copes when i start using it for house work and things as well.. luckily for me dp is still home so i havn't had to do much of that stuff...
md - congrats on the weight loss thats great news :)
queenie - listening for that whistle lol mine popped out fully a few weeks before i went into labour i think...
leanne - well done on the 1.4kgs hopefully i will have something to report like that next week :)
-
Well she passed the ultrasound, was a little angel, just lay there looking around while they checked her out.
ETA: Have put some photos up in my gallery
-
Noni, well done on starting WW - I've never been but lots of ppl I know have had good results & they have recipes and useful things like that too. The medicare card prolly wasn't enough ID as there's no signature or picture on it so hence needing some official letters with your name and address.
Cally - well done Katie passing your US!! And what's more you are a gorgeous little girl!! :)
Ok - yep with the bibs, I knew about this beforehand and stocked up in colours that match most of her clothes LOL it's practically a fashion accessory! LOL
Wakey time - E has tummy time when she's awake long enough after a feed - otherwise it all just comes back up! She also has sister time with H who has firm opinions as to which toys etc are E's favorites. LOL She's not into her playgym yet..that'll come. She's not really awake long enough for anything else.
-
We did tummy time yesterday a bit too soon after a feed! She spewed it up and then did a faceplant in it - not pretty!! So tummy time is now at the end of play time.
-
Cally Lol at the faceplant. Thats wonderful news about the us.
MD how cute H having firm opinions on E's favorite toys. Logan is ok under the playgym for a few minutes but I need to lay down with him and play.
Noni I would have thought that would be enough info to open an account. We are going to the bank this arvo to open one for Logan so we can put money into it for him. Good luck with WW.
Ella good luck with your nephew hopefully he doesnt destroy your house.
I spent the whole day yesterday thinking it was Tuesday, which means I missed the open clinic and didnt take Logan to get weighed. I am going to go up there this morning and see if I can do it, I dont need any assistance so it shouldnt be a problem. I am also going to go and get the photos printed as I didnt go yesterday. Might try and get some more Christmas shopping done.
-
morning everyone - a VERY EXHAUSTED pregpan here!!! Noah did not go to sleep until 2am.... I haveno idea what was going on - we started our night routine at 7.15 - bath, feed, rock and sleep but he would not sleep - wanted another feed at 8.20 so gave him1 side (he had 2 at 7.15) and then wanted another feed at 9.15 so he got another side... then he still wouldnt sleep and was screaming whenever we lay him on back (this is so unlike him) and just wanted t be cuddled... poor boy we had no idea what was wrong, i dont think it was wind as nothing came up in burps and colic positions did nothing to soothe him... finally i fed him again at 1 (i was worried it was discomfort from too much milk!) and rocked him for an hour and he went to sleep... he then did his usual wake up at 4.45 and then 7.30 (later than usual)... I am SO tired!!!! We took temp etc and it was ok (maybe little low?) and the milk rash seems to have spreada bit, i was worried he was ill?? anyone have any clues??? do you think this is the 6 week unsettled period? we did quite a bit yest (ABA appt and OB appt and then we went out for dinner at 6 - just a quick one at the local shops)so do you think it was too much for him? or is this a new phase (PLEASE NO!!!). I hope he had a sleep later so i can get some sleep too...
Cally - so glad that the US went well - well done Katie!!! For play time we are just starting to do more - he likes his mat (i took off a lot of the toys so he just has 2, i thought the full set was too much for him - he now swipes at the toys), i sing to him, we dance around to some music (he likes brazillian music!!), he LOVES his rocker if i bounce him (this also makes him poo!! LOL) and also the electric swing (which he is in now)... i also have a book BABY PLAY which is good - has ideas for all ages up to 1 yr so i will start some things from there. and i get some ideas (similar to what is in baby play ) from gymbaroo. One thing i am going to start is balloons, we use one at gymbaroo - just bounce it in front of him, wave in front of him etc and he loves it. Also i sit with him on fit ball, or sit him on it (well supported by me LOL) and bounce him or roll him on his tummy or side to side and he loves this (also from gymbaroo) - will think of some more when i am less tired and let you know. it is so hard to know what to do with them isnt it. i findhe just klikes looking at my face and hearing voice too so sometimesi just sit him up looking at me and talk tohim about random things. this gets smiles!!
Noni - how frustrating at bank - hope it works for you next time! WTG on joining WW - take it easy though you have lost a lot already!
-
Pregpan, sorry you had a rough night. We had a bad afternoon a few days ago where Will was really cranky all day and by evening he was screaming. I gave him some Gaviscon infant which seemed to do the trick as he has been having a few reflux symptoms. It is so hard to know what is wrong with them - one morning Will woke up screaming, I rushed to the room and as soon as I got there he let rip a huge fart, then went straight back to sleep.
I am struggling with what to do with him during awake time. He gets bored if he is left in his bouncer for very long but I find it hard to think of things to do with him. He likes to sit on my lap facing me and we go bounce, bounce, bounce kiss. That usually gets huge smiles.
BTW, thanks Leanne for the burp twist tip, it has been working really well (and congrats on the weight loss - that is a really good amount!)
-
ahhhh just lost all my post :(
ty for the encouragement on ww hoping they can help me eat a bit more but make healthier choices coz atm i think the way i am losing is not particularly healthy...
arte - it is hard isn't it when they just scream for something like they need to fart lol
pregpan - sorry to hear u had a bad night... Ash has those nights evedry now n then not really sure why hope u have a better one tnite...
ozstar - lol i am malways thinking its the wrong day then i make plans n almost miss them haha
cally - katie is georgeous!! how long is she? looks tall!
md - thats sooo cute about H how old is she now?
-
pregpan - sorry to hear that you had such a rough night! Little Red was a bit more unsettled and usual last night and i was doing the 1.5 hourly single-sided feeds too!! although she was going back to sleep between them, so it wasn't quite as tiring!! my nipples are still a mess so i think i might go to the GP soon - the lactation consultant said that i may have a staf infection or thrush, so if they didn't heal by tues (just passed) then to go see a Dr. i don't have a regular GP though so have been putting it off... i've never needed to go to a GP since moving to this house so i have no idea where the clinics are around here!!
i feel guilty after reading all of the things that you do with Noah - i don't give Abigail that many playtime options!! she spends a bit of time in her bouncer, but will only last in it for about 15 mins at a time before she gets bored. the exception is that she likes the sound of the shower so i bring the bouncer into the bathroom when i want a shower and she's happy to sit in it indefinitely! she also spends lots of time in the sling and the baby bjorn... i haven't tried reading a book to her yet - i don't think she'd be remotely interested!! she has had a go on her playgym but gets bored very quickly, and likewise with her mobile in her cradle - happy to watch it for about 2 mins before cracking the ****s!
oh dear, she's started grizzling again - will check in again later!
-
Hi everyone!
I had a big day out yesterday, firstly I took Alister to clinic and the little chubber has put on 660grams in two weeks! He is now 5.69kg but he doesn't *look* chubby because he is still so long, so he just looks nicely padded. I brought some cute little shirts for him and heaps of bibs (seems like we all are ATM LOL). He was good while we were out shopping, but last night he had the cranky pants on and was really unsettled with pains in the belly. I think it was from getting in and out of the car a lot.
With the hair colour thing, people with red/gingery hair can throw a baby with really dark/black hair and people with black hair can sometimes throw a bloodnut LOL. Alisters hair is really dark brown like his Dad's (all of them have his colouring) but in the sunlight you can see a dark auburn tinge to it. DH's mum and sister have the same hair too, so the kids will more than likely get really dark hair when they are older too. My hair is in pretty good nick still -don't know how long that will last though LOL.
I am really guilty of not doing much at all with Alister while he is awake during the day because if he's happy to sit in his rocker, I will get stuff done around the house. The girls sing to him all the time and play peek-a-boo with him. When Lindsay was a baby and I had more time I would watch playschool and sing the songs with him and do all the hand actions (Insy-winsy spider etc).
With the weight loss, I have lost 2kg since last Tuesday. I do WW at home so I am only using my bathroom scales though so they aren't terribly accurate. Fingers crossed we all keep losing good amounts of weight.
Katie hasn't been on since july, so I really don't know what went on there.
-
Pregpan, don't read too much into it, it's likely to be either a one-off or you might get a few unsettled days, but sometimes there's just no explanation and then it gets better just as mysteriously. Those are some great play ideas...E isn't quite ready for that level of stimulation yet but I'll remember the balloon one for when we get there!
Arte - do you have a playgym frame you can hang things off (not necc toys, just things with different shapes colours and patterns that you can change frequently for him to look at). I reckon the talking and singing is great too - it doesn't need to make a lot of sense, you can just waffle on about anything, a singsong voice will hold their attention for longer. I used to sing tunes to H with her name as the words (don't have to remember the real words then hahaha). Also useful if they are bored and you really need to get something done is to park them in front of the window (good if there's a bush or something moving in the breeze just outside) or take them outside in the pram. Works a treat!
Noni - H is 9 - she's an all-singing all-dancing sister-entertainer LOL! I can't see the novelty wearing off any time soon either.
Katie - good luck with the Chrissy shopping, I've designated November as the month it's all happening. Better get my thinking cap on!
Queenie - thinking of you hun! xx
ETA- Ella don't EVER feel guilty from comparing what someone else is doing with their bub - different baby different mum different circumstances. E would be an overstimulated mess if I did all the stuff Pregpan is doing at this point in time. But later on when she's ready we'll add a bit more variety depending on what E enjoys and what other activities we've built into our week. The important thing is to do what works for you and it sounds to me like that's what you're doing.
Sherie - well done on your weight loss! Does A enjoy the peek-a-boo...? I've tried it a few times with E but she just looks at me.
-
oh my god oh my god! Im sooooooooooooooo excited! I just had to jump on the computer as soon as I could to tell you guys!!
Rory slept from 9:00pm to 5:30am!!!!!!!! I didnt sleep though because I kept checking on him LOL! Gosh, not a peek out of him.
hehe okay Ill read everyone's posts now ive got that out of my system!
-
Wow Renee, i'm going to be honest here - I AM JEALOUS!!!!! :)
-
I hope I dont cop it tonight though haha. I guess we will have to see.
I put him down at 6:00am after his 5:30am feed and its 9:40 and he is still asleep (after a few crys for his dummy)
He is taking 180mls now and last night he completely missed a feed. So if he keeps it up he will be on 5x 180ml feeds a day instead of 6 x 120ml feeds.
-
Welcome to my world Renee LOL! It's great isn't it? Alister is upping his fees too, but not that much all the time, usually just first thing in the morning.
I have to log off now - huge thunderstorm approaching - fingers crossed we get a shed load of rain!
-
Ive got everything crossed for you Sherie! I really hope you get some rain.
-
Yep sending rainstorm vibes your way Sherie - Tanks a lot!! LOL
-
sherie - hope you get lots of rain!!!
renee - i am sooo jelous of your sleep lol.. Ash is still only drinking 120mls mostly occassionally she wants more but its so hard to tell sometimes lol ive given it to her before because she seemed to want it but she just spewed it straight back up lol so not sure... i guess Ash is a bit younger sometimes i forget that when i get jelous of the babies doing different things...
md - thats awesome you have your own entertainer there.. my mum had a baby when i was 9 as well but sadly she was premmie and didn't make it.. i can imagine how much fun hanna is having how special...
ella - hope u get ur nipple prob sorted
-
good morning everyone
pregpan- we have nights like that all the time. for some reason lewis loves being awake between 3am and 5am some mornings. it drives us crazy.
noni- good luck with ww, let us know how you go!
sherie- lewis came out with black hair but it's getting lighter and ligther. looks like he may end up a blondie! well done on your weight loss so far
md- i think november might be my month for xmas shopping too! i wonder what i should get for lewis??
queenie- thinking of you mate,
ella- sorry to hear about your nipples. mine went through a bit of a rough stage too but they're a bit better now. bfing really takes perserverence doesn't it?
renee- i am so jealous of you!! what's your secret?
hello to everyone else xox
-
Renee - yes I am officially JEALOUS too!! Hope he keeps it up!
Sherie - hope you are getting lots of rain!
Thanks all for the reassurance re last night... I know it is normal but it didnt feel it at the time if you know what i mean... I hope it isnt a new pattern... anyway he is having a little nap now so i should log off and get some sleep myself - I am knackered! Just had a friend over which was nice - she has a 4 yr old and a 6 month old so she gave melots of reassurance...
DH and I are going to the movies tonight! Mum is going to look after Noah - I am nervous how it will go but sheis going back to melb on sat so this is our chance and I guess Ihave to get used to having him babysat at some pt - I hope he doesnt give her hell.I have expressed enough for 3 sigle side feeds so that should see her through a couple of hours and I will deal with whatever mood he is in when i get back.. wish me luck.
Ella (and anyone else) - I didnt mean to make you feel bad re the playing - as MD says every bub is diff and so will need diff stimulation - Noah gets upset if I am not doing things with him a lot - i think he gets bored...and I certainly don't do them all in one day - prob more like one or 2 of those activities in any day - lots of talking and singing as he is def calmed by my voice. But if you do want some ideas I do recommend the Baby Play book which was leant to me and gave me good ideas. I also popped him in the bjorn this morning and baked a cake and he liked the movement and watching what was going on - I chatted to him the whole way through like it was a cooking show!
-
Sherie I just had a look at your gallery, is that Alister in your girls dolls pram? It is adorable, he looks so big. Your girls are gorgeous BTW.
-
Yes it is LOL! I not long put those pics up. They did that just after lunch the little darlings ;) He loved it though. I think I might have to put the pram away for a while me thinks......
And we did get some rain!!! we got 11.5mm. It was a ripper of a storm too - it's been so long since we had thunder like that.
-
OMG Sherie that's fantastic - wish my waters'd break that impressively!! :cryinglaugh: no seriously, all's good, just chilling waiting for the cx to either settle down or develop properly as they keep developing a pattern for a few hrs then stopping *does another load of washing, twiddles thumbs and gets back into bed*
hope everyone else is doing well - sound like you've all been busy in the world of excrement/vom/no sleep! REnee - I want one of yours ;)
-
sherie- i just had a look at your photos as well, alister is so beautiful. he looks so long, how long is he? looks like he's going to be a big strong boy.
queenie- officially only one week to go! how exciting
-
Queenie, you need a really intense low pressure system to come over and break your waters for you LOL. It is so frustrating when you get the stop-starts.
Thanks Gracie :), he was 62cm yesterday at his check up so he really doesn't look fat at all. He is going to be a larger kid height-wise I think. People keep telling me his feet are really big too, so I have visions of him having Ian thorpe size feet and I'll never be able to find shoes to fit him LOL. You will have to post some pics of Lewis when you get time!
-
Renee - that is a great sleep - lets hope he does that a bit more and that you get used to it so you can sleep through!!
Well I went shopping today!! So proud of myself. K was an angel, slept the whole time. Bought her two new books to celebrate (and some more bibs)!
Think she might have a bit of a nappy rash though, her bott is a bit red. Hope that clears up soon.
Pregpan - I will keep an eye out for that book. I don't think there is anything here like Gymbaroo so I probably need some help with ideas and that sounds good. Have fun at the movies.
-
Cally, you just reminded me of something. Did anyone get a book for their baby when in hospital? Alister got one as part of a 'babies love books too' program and I don't know if it's just a local thing or national. It was just a board book with fabrics in it they can touch etc.
it makes it so much easier to shop when they are happy to shop with you LOL.
-
Cally, well done going shopping, soon you'll be buzzing here there and everywhere without even a thought!
I had a real BOOST yesterday actually, DH is back at work and not only did i get H up to school on time I also made it to my appointment on time as well. My hair was done and I didn't even have baby vom on me anywhere LOL...I came home thinking "Hey I can do this"! So now I'm kind of looking forwards to getting out & about whenever I please again.
So, Queenie, is the hospy bag all packed...have you put a box of chocs and a trashy magazine in there (hospital essential supplies IMO)? Capsule in car, sheets in bassinet, battery in camera???...I'm sooooooo EXCITED for you!! :D
Sherie, naaaah, they're tight here, you only get the books if it's children's book week, ie the week BEFORE E was born LOL! In SA they hand them out to all new babies so SupaB will get a little book bag with half a dozen starter books in it. Lucky for me though, we have millions of books here, I just can't help myself I'm addicted to children's literature!!
-
Aaaawwww, ripped off then LOL. I wish we got a bag of books. I have a thing for kids books too. I even joined a party plan company seeling kids books so I could get them for free LMAO.
-
sherie how do i upload photos to my gallery. i've had a try but can't seem to do it!! doh!
-
Gracie, when you go to the gallery, on the right hand side of the menu bar, there should be a link that says 'upload photos'. From there it is pretty straight forward. have your pics at 400pixels though or they don't upload. You can create an album, but you don't have to to be able to have pics on there.
-
yah!! i did it. thanks sherie!! take a look at lewis
-
Gosh he is a cutie! And he has his Daddy's big hands too by the look of it. Fancy him having a girlfriend already though ;) Was Lewis a long bub too?
I had a bad night last night. Alister fell asleep at 4pm yesterday and stayed asleep till 9 when I woke him up. He missed a feed as he normally has one at about 6pm before his last one at 8-9. So I fed him and put him back to bed thinking that he will just sleep through like normal, but he woke up at 2.30!!! and then I again thought that he would sleep till about 8am, but nooooo, he still woke at his normal time of 5.30am. So I am knackered already today LOL. So I guess it wasn't a *bad* night as such but I sure wasn't expecting it. He went back to sleep at 6.30 and is still asleep now in my bed.
I had him laughing last night too. It was quite by accident really. I was mucking around with him when I woke him up and fed him at 9 and I tickled under his arm. He started making this noise and I thought he was just grunting LOL, but when I did it again it was a definate laugh and a huge smile - it was hillarious and me being a bad mum I kept tickling him to keep him laughing but in the end he cracked it with me.
-
Morning everyone,
Gracie Lewis is gorgeous, I love the shot of him over his dad's shoulder.
MD well done getting out and about on your own.
Sherie we didnt get any books from the hospital. I have asked my mum to buy books for Logan's Christmas present though.
Pregpan how was the movies? What did you see?
I got Logan weighed yesterday he is 4.7kg, over 10 pound. I cant beleive that some women give birth to bubs as big as Logan is now. I had better go and settle Logan is it to hard trying to type with one hand.
-
Aw Sherie that's so cute!
OK, I have the FUNNIEST story for you... my BF is in town and we caught up last night. She has a jokey reputation for sending people into labour, based on two hilarious previous experiences, and we were laughing about this. Then halfway through her visit I go to the toilet... and there's a blobby show :cryinglaugh: She was delighted!
HAve to go and check out Lewis' pic right now! When I'm not sitting on the toilet, that is
-
queenie- that's awesome news!!!! i'm so excited for you....keep us updated on everything ok...how exciting!!!
sherie- you're right lewis does have his dad's big hands!! everyone comments on that. it's so funny.he was 54cm long at birth, now he is 55.5cm. think he's gonna be a tall one. so cute that you can make alister laugh. i can't wait for that..
katie- yes 10pounds bubs are scarey!!! believe me. lewis was 10pounds 3 at birth. i still can't believe i had such a big baby! apparantely he is in the 97th percentile for size of babies at birth....and i'm only 165cm myself. none of my friends can believe it.
sorry to hear about your bad nights sleep sherie- i was going to ask you today actually what your secret is cos i get woken up at least once if not twice or three times between 12am and 7am. do you think if i fed more often in the late arvo/evenings i might get a better nights sleep? or does it make no difference?
good morning to everyone else..i hope the weather here starts getting better. we have 7 people coming down to visit tomorrow from sydney to meet lewis and staying till sunday. it's the first time his uncle will meet him!
-
Our babies really are precious aren't they. I love the way Logan lets out little cries as he tries so hard to fight going to sleep, then his little head rolls back and his mouth opens a little as his sleep gets deeper.
We are all so lucky to be blessed with such gorgeous little people. I love being a woman and being able to be pregnant and produce another human life. It is trully an amazing experience.
Ok so can you tell I am a little emotional today lol.
ETA Woo hoo Queenie, not long now!
Gracie, my hat goes off to you.
-
i know what you mean katie. i love just looking at lewis, watching his little facial expressions. i never get sick of looking at him. i feel so so lucky. i love watching him with his dad too, they are so much alike- it's beautiful.
