Rainy - LMAO did your MIL really do that!???! Thats madness. What a witch. No wonder you dont get along with her. Does any of her other son/s have wives/girlfriends & if so how is she with them? YES me DP needs to grow balls big time & speak to his mum. Trust me I've told him countless times. Another thing getting to me is I wish she would help me with this wedding. Maybe I'm just being selfish though I dont know. I know how much she wants to get involved but now she's being silly & ignoring me.

H, I wonder if she was just testing you? Sounds like it was a pretty horrid dress, and maybe she didn't like it either, but by you rebuffing her suggestion, she can play the victim with everyone about it kwim? Hey Jordie! Don't feel like an intruder, cause you aren't! As for your questions, we'll do the big bed when he's about 2 - that's when we put our older three into beds (cause we needed the cot for the next baby ROFL) and it worked well. We are getting bunks for the boys though cause we're limited for space in their room. TT will be about two as you would have read, but if he's not ready I'll stop and wait a while. Talking, Alister has quite a few words and is starting to form sentences (two-three word ones), like 'see ya Dad'. His words are Mum, Dad, Ineee (Lindsay LOL, so cute!), no, yes, uh-oh, oh no, ha-ha (bloody Simpsons!), yeehaa, Nan, see ya, ta, ta-ta, poo, woof, bath. I asked Paige's speechie about this once and she said that they should have 50 words by 2yo, but not to worry if they don't (some will have more than this, some will have less), so long as they do communicate with you in other ways (babbling etc) and can follow simple instructions etc the words will come later. Meanwhile encourage them to talk by talking to them and asking them questions and naming things when they *ask* for them. It really helps if you don't use pet names for things too, but often they are pet names for a reason, but just keep reinforcing what the real name is kwim? Reading to them as much as you can really helps as well. If at any stage you have concerns about her speech, please dont' delay in getting a referral to a speechie and having her assessed.

hayley- yes she really did do that. she's not healthy though iykwim? there is something clearly wrong with her. my bil does have a gf, and she does get along with the mil, but she is very 'straight' and sweet and plays along with mil's games, whereas i don't take s**t off anyone. i think mil doesn't see her as a threat as they are quite similar personalities, whereas mil and i are complete opposites and i don't think she likes the fact that her son has sought out someone so different to her- it's like she takes offence to it and takes it personally, if that makes sense?
i actually agree with sherie that i think your mil is playing games with you and has set you up to look like the 'bad guy'. she sounds very manipulative and is used to being able to make other family members feel sorry for her- i know, because it's exactly what my mil does. she has my fil wrapped around her little finger and gets in his ear about everyone and everything.
i really wish your dp would wake up to her a bit. he really needs to show her that he's on your side, i feel like this is the only thing that would make her back off as she would see that her games aren't working.
if she doesn't want to help with the wedding, it's a shame, but it's her loss. sounds like she's more trouble than she's worth anyway..

I had a dream about you last night, you were driving a train (a fisher-price animal train lol) and then you said 'I can feel the head' and crouched down and a baby dropped out of you! But he was about 6 months old looking around and waving with a head full of black hair (I think it might have been Noah).

MM, sorry your MIL is being a cow. I hope she behaves herself at the wedding! I used to get along so well with my ILs but after the last holidays I just can't be bothered with her. She is apparently the type to bring out the tears to manipulate people. Doesn't work on me though, being a bit of a cold-hearted biatch makes me immune lol

Jordie, Big beds: I would put W in one, but he doesn't sleep well enough at night and I can't be bothered getting up to him. As soon as he sleeps better he can shift, I am not worried about him falling out because he has been co-sleeping since 3 months and climbs out very well.
Toilet training: I was going to get a potty, but after reading a couple of the posts here I think he would be one inclined to wear it on his head. So I am thinking a step up to the big toilet, not sure when we will implement it.
Talking: W has about 30 words and a dozen or so animal noises. He can do a few little sentences like 'more cracker/biccie' or 'dada car'. But I don't think there is any need to worry yet, some of the other bubs the same age at mothers group are only saying a couple of words.

Andie, yip, tried flavoured milk. Doesn't work much better than normal milk. If I call it coffee he will have a couple of sips, but still not much.

MD, I know 20kg seems like a big ask (easy advice to hand out when you are as thin as a pin!) but I suspect the Dr might have known what she was talking about. I lost about 5kg while TTC and it has done diddley jack - fasting sugars still too high and the 3 month average is in the warning zone between normal and diabetic. However, I am getting my serenity back, for now it is something I cannot change so I will just deal with the pregnancy for now and sort out the rest when I am able.

PAP, so exciting that you are moving home! Can you get transfers for your jobs? Sounds like you have had a terrible run of bad health, hope it improves for you and the ulcer doesn't cause you any more trouble.

Cally, what a horrible morning! W was a whingy brat yesterday - he almost never has tanties but yesterday he had them all afternoon, then DH came home and he was a complete angel!

So, with words that they say, does it count as a word if it isn't pronounced properly? Like for pram W says Bram, does that still count? A few of his words are a bit babbleish so only DH and I can understand what he is saying.

Jordie - no, not an intruder, jump on in any time you want!! We're all just chatterboxes :lol:. We'd love to have you stay! Re your Q's - we won't look at big girl beds until after E's 2nd birthday - and even then we might wait because our cot is designed so the side comes right off. IMO better to keep them in a cot for a long as poss because it helps stop bedtime wandering/playing. You only need them to go into a big bed either when the cot is getting too small or if you have a climber (cos it's not safe for them to be clambering over the sides).

Re TT - we'll be waiting until next summer - no hurry, they all get there when they are ready.

Re words - E doesn't actually say Mum or Dad or Hannah - but we get duck dog drink quack meow hi yay and she also has a word that sounds nothing like 'what'sthat' but she says it consistently every time she points at something. She also says a word that sounds like 'pretty' - but uses it whenever she's interested in the detail of something (like a picture or lights or something that catches her eye). From my understanding it's most important at this age that they are understanding key label words that you are using (and I'm sure M is doing that if she's saying some words of her own). We try to repeat the main words several times whenever you we something, as that helps with learning.

PP - meant to say - glad they are looking at a specialist re the ulcer - do hope it stays under control. But if you keep getting pain up under/near your ribs do insist on an ultrasound (gallstones are often misdiagnosed as reflux, etc)!

Re the snacky things - must try the boost thingies. There's a similar fruit-flake thing my sis showed me at the supermarket - sultana-sized and roolly yummy BUT prolly still quite high in sugar. E likes cruskits, cheese sticks, freeze-dried apple, sultanas, vegemite cheesy sticks, but really she'll have a go at anything these days if she sees us eating it. I do a lot of muffins, crumpets, fruit loaf, scones etc when we're at home. She leant how to drink thru a straw in record time one day when we were having boost smoothies LOL.

Cally, your K is such a cheekie girl - learning to get her own way I think! Hope the lamington worked. :hug:

MM - far out I didn't realise it's so close!! I hope you explained to the dry cleaners that you only want it cleaned and not packed, a lot of them pack it into an archive box for that price. Triple the price as soon as you say the "W" word (rip off merchants)!

Little kids often use invented words and as long as their family understands the word has done what it needed too, kwim? Teenagers mispronounce and use a lot of never-heard-before language and we don't bat an eyelid at that LOL.

Jordie - good to see you. N is a chatterbox - prob has 30 words or so... but i was a v early talker (late walkjer, hence he still doesnt walk). My good friend is a speech pathologist though and she says N is farahead and also thatthere is nothing to worry about at this stage as long as they are making sounds and babbling. she also says talking in related to eating (same muscles) and I reember M wasnt into food til not longago so it could be on its way now... hope all is going well otherwise
Arte -what a dream!!!!!!!!!! glad you are feeling zen about the weight thing, deal withit when this bubba is here... i have ot say in all honsty though, i would do what the dr says, they have no bad intentions in tellng you and are there to look after your health... but i know easier said than done.. i hope that came out right...
Yes my job is already based in melb so that s abig relief for us... DH will take a leave of absence.. as i am the mainbread winner it makes sense we will move back to where my work is (not to mention family etc)

Well this morning was much better, she liked me.

MM - I still haven't had my dress drycleaned and it is 4 years. I looked around last year, but the first place wanted to charge $300+ without putting it in a special box and I almost fell over and wasn't brave enough to try anywhere else. Good luck with your MIL and the cake, hope you've given pretty strict instructions on what you want!

big girls beds won't be for a while here I don't think and was planning on TT next summer, unless she is really ready beforehand.

K loves her dried fruit, but I do try and restrict it because of the sulfites. Might have to check out our health food shop and see if they have any. The owner has a son 3 days younger than K so they tend to have a lot of the baby stuff there.

We have a new sentence today - 'night night dad' (DH is on nightshift and he said that to him this morning when he came home and went to bed). It's not a big issue if they can't pronounce it spot on first go - there are age appropriate levels of speech, so some sounds will come later than others. There are so many different blends of sounds too that they just can't get it right all at once. So long as they are consistent in the 'words' that they do use for things, the correct articulation/pronunciation will come later.

He did say he wants to talk bout our future & did mention that he he lost sight of what is important & that mainly is our boys cause they are ours :doh:

lewis only really says 'dad' and 'mum'. he does understand a lot though.

Rainy - Hmm thats a hard one. Personally I wouldnt let my DP go away, because I am just a panic merchant lol. Your MIL sounds like a piece of work if her own son hates her.

Andie - Sorry you dont know your dad, I can imagine how hard that must be. Of course you dont want that for your boys. If things dont work out hopefully you can come to some sort of custody agreement so that he has days where he spends time with them. However I'm really hoping it all works out for you and your ex hubby.

Trillian - Wow A sounds really clever with his talking. You must be proud! Yes I think you are right about my MIL, especially seeing as I've since spoken to a few family members who have brought up the incident that happened between us a few weeks back. Obviously she has gone & told everyone & yes she did make me out to be a real horrible person. Luckily I've been able to set the story straight with a few people.

Rainy- I think you are very generous entertaining the idea! I didn't want DH going on a bux when i was 36 weeks last time incase he was too drunk to drive and missed all the action! He went though and it was fine. :rolleyes:

MD mentioned freeze dried fruit. I have found some freeze dried mango, banana and pear in my supermarket that is 100% fruit, nothing else added. Bellamys also do organic freeze dried apple and pear. Also some brands of sultanas and prunes on supermarket shelf have no nasties added. Just a few tips!

Making some pickles, and need to clean this place up a bit while DH is off with lulu training dogs! will bbl to try and catch up..................

Rainy: No. i wouldn't let him go...simply cause when my DH did that my waters broke 3 hours later and he missed the dash to the hospital and only came in when i was well and truly in labour. it wasn't nice having him so far away at that time.
had to giggle about L turning off the aircon! leila turns the radio on full ball most days til my ears bleed and then boogeys like there is no tomorrow. i think unwittingly i am creating a dancer in the midst...arrrrghhhh i cant sew!!!!

MM: your MIL is sound pretty petty to me. i can understand that she wants to spend all her time with M (who wouldnt!), but you and DF are her parents and are raising her very well. and in a way it is romantic to share the honeymoon with her (just hire a hotel nanny for a romantic dinner!! ;) they are fantastic assests LOL!).

i agree with ange; i just told my bridesmaids the colours i liked and the general feel of the wedding (ie summer garden party in our case). it cut out some of the dramas and the girls looked beautiful and comfortable ITH.

PP: ooooooooohhhhhh coming to melbourne?!!!!!! that is so exciting!! we can soo hang out and buy oobi to our hearts content. in fact i bought a red-riding hood style bolero thing for leila today. too cute.

Jordie: hi and welcome back!! ummm as for words...Leila says a few: mama, papa, stella (the dog), cheech (one of the cats), leila, uh oh (is that a word LOL!?), more, ciao, grazie, chi e' (who is it), wart (water LOL!), baby, dolly, mine (her personal fav LOL!), ta (thanks), da (give me in italian), tien (a shortened version of tieni which is for 'have this'). we arent too worried as a speech path told us that with her doing the two languages she's going to take awhile to do proper talking and words.
we are holding off on the toddler bed for now. she is sleeping in one at CC though without probs, but my sentiment ATM is, if it aint broke leave it well alone LOL!

Technically NO! But I do seem to recall my DH being sent away for a similar length of time at 36.5 but that was kinda different, he didn't really have a say in the matter (due to the whole military prison factor).

ok - saw Junior Dr Surgeon not Head Honcho man. Was very sympathetic and wanted to put me on the <30 day list but instead HH said <90 day list. But it seems like there's a loophole because he gave me very specific instructions about the next time I have a severe attack and go to casualty, I'm to tell them that I'm on the list and apparently a surgeon will come down and assess whether to whip me thru straight away. So if I suddenly disappear for a few days you will know I'm being gallbladdered LOL. Not enjoying the anticipation of the whole surgical experience tho.

Rainy .. I did it the other way .. let him go away when Jack was 4 wks .. tho if Jack was on time he wld have been 2wks. I was also trying to organise a nite out for my ex the wk b4 i was due for my c/s. I think it depends on how comfy you are with it.
I get that they are our boys .. wat got me was that he was making a point of stressing that to me, that's why they are so important .. cos they are his & mine, mine & his ...
I am thinking that cos he is the eldest, it might be why.

E is loving iceypoles. I buy the no colouring RugRats ones and she has half of one of those. I'm going to look out for the go-gurt tubes next time I'm down at the shops because they make ripper icey poles too. I've done frozen yoghurt in my tupperware moulds but it's a pain in the bum because the yoghurt is so gloppy. Oh and I was thinking I might peel, section and freeze some bananas too.

ETA just realised Rainy you are talking about Ange's freeze-dried fruit. It's not frozen, it's dried LOL.
