hi girls
sorry i've been so mia. have really had my hands full with dh being away. the kids were pretty feral at my dad's place. lewis just doesn't want to sleep there, gets too hyped up i think. now he's come down with a cold so couldn't go to kindy today ggggrrrr
jimmy is really doing my head in with sleep. he's becoming increasingly harder to settle and we're really having troubles. don't know if it's just a bad stage or what?
md- dd1's party sounds awesome. what a lucky girl. will you dress them up all bollywood? are you making tabouli?
trill- i'm a fan of silent witness too. i don't mind a bit of midsomer murder here and there either.
clare- i don't blame your dh being a bit depressed about the housing situation. they're just so pricey! my dh gets really down and out when he's got no work coming up.
gypsy- we don't have sizzlers here anymore. i used to love that cheesy toast.
dh lived up to his promise and took us shopping today. bought me a new doona cover and sheet set -1000 thread count for a princess! :D and 2 pairs of jeans - none of my old ones fit me anymore  oh well, trying to embrace my new curves. apparantley thin is no longer in!
-
Rainy, bummer about J's sleeping. I was so hoping you would get an easy sleeper this time round, we deserve a break after the marathon bad sleeps we got from L and W!
MD, LOL at your shopping granny incident! Sorry about your cuticles (not sure what they are though -something to do with fingernails??) and your sore scalp. I am more sorry to hear that it is affecting your spirit, please remember when you are down that we are all thinking of you and to let us know if there is anything at all we can do to make you feel better.
Clare, the house situation sounds completely nuts. Have you considered moving a suburb or two out further and using the money you save by buying cheaper to get a little shopping trolley car? DH and I both get like your DH when we don't own our house, it was a terrible year in the company houses even though one was completely renovated and nice it still wasn't ours.
Our 20cm of snow didn't eventuate but it is cold. W is festive with his red cheeks and green boogers. It is only 3 weeks since his last cold for goodness sake.
I don't want to jinx myself, but I think the GTT went well! I took my meter with me and my BSL's were down to 7 after two hours which is perfectly normal. I am really excited because if I don't have GD this time then I can birth locally in the center 2 minutes down the road instead of travelling 2 hours to the hospital.
Getting quite worried about what to do with W while having the baby, there is no one here that I know/trust well enough to leave him with and he is too clingy to stay with anyone else anyway. Looks like DH will have to stay home with him and miss the birth. I have an allocated independent midwife who would be with me the whole time though (unless I have to go to hospital in which case it will just be random midwifes checking in). I am quite upset about it, I hate the thought of DH missing the birth but really there is no one that can look after W.

hey there everyone,
just jumping on quickly while Asha is entertained by the simpsons lol that and in the night garden are the only things saving my sanity some days!! Asha had her second day at daycare today, shes doing really well.. hasnt cried yet while being there (as far as theyre telling me) and has settled in really well.. there was a very sweet pic of her in the day book today playing with some toy food smiling away to herself :)
dh and i had our first major fight as a married couple on sunday.. he was complaining about the housework and it escelated (sp) to the point where he was yelling at me and i was just crying.. and even though i was getting histerical he just kept yelling.. he really lost it hes under alot of stress atm but i really cant do a better job then i am which makes it very hard.. i actually made him leave the house, i started packing up stuff for myself and asha but then decided he should be the one to leave.. at that point he broke down completely begging me not to make him leave us but i insisted he did because i needed time to think.. hes back now and things are going ok.. i told him he could come home after a few hours mostly just because i was worried about Asha who unfortunately witnessed the whole thing  .. i feel like such a bad mum breaking down like that infront of her but i just couldnt help it.. shes been a little sensitive she didnt want to sleep on her own last night and i let her come in with us.. not sure if that was the right thing to do or not but ill be going back to normal routine tonight.. she was fine at school today too which is a good sign.. its really hard now tho coz even though he said hes sorry etc etc i just feel like im not good enough for him and that my best efforts arent good enough.. ahhh well enough winging.. good to get it out tho...
arte - my fingers are crossed for you with your gtt results!! mine came back ok this time eventho i had gd with Asha hope things go the same way for you!!
rainy - hope the kids settle for you soon and Jimmy starts sleeping better!! well done on the shopping!!
md - that party sure does sound like fun!!! WTG!
katie - hope you all get better soon :)
hi to everyone else better be off to start on dinner so i dont feel completely useless *sigh*
-
Rainy - thin was *never* in - not in my universe anyway!! At least you've got the bedlinen you deserve!! Re the party, I will accessorise the girls to look sorta middle eastern. We will have *pretend* middle eastern food (real m/e food's pretty darn time consuming) so dips like baba ganoush, hummous, beetroot dip, and "koftas" (chevapchis threaded onto sticks and served with ready made tzatziki), fetta triangles (from the freezer section), tabouli (from the f&v shop)...ready made!!! LOL. Might whip up a lassi and chuck a bit of cardamom in it - minimum effort - maximum impact. It's all in the delivery, ladies!
Arte you got me thinking re the cuticles. It's the bit of skin just around the fingienails. BTW I like your idea of Clare's shopping trolley car. Not sure what you mean but it sounds cute!! LOL at Will's festive appearance...nearly time for Christmas in July! LOL Re your birthing arrangements - could you look at hiring a nanny or babysitter who could come to the house and look after W a few times while you are there, and then get them to look after him there when it all happens? Or could you get a family member to meet DH at the birthing centre to keep W entertained for the hour or so that you're in active pushing stage so that DH can look after W while you're in early labour but then still be there when bub is born? Fingies crossed re your GTT results!!
ETA - Noni big hugs - your fight sounds absolutely horrible and I bet you were scared as well as devastated. Now might be a good time to contact Relationships Australia or Centacare to find out about some couple counselling - it sounds like M might need some tips on how to handle his stress so he's not taking it out on you guys, kwim?
-
Changed my mind and can't figure out how to delete a post while on my phone..
-
Thanx md.. I think things will be ok I don't think he really ment it im just a dweller which makes it harder
-
Noni, I have had the housework fight many a time. It never changes. I try my best and I guess I could do more but DH and I have different opinions on how clean clean is - his mother keeps her house spotless and I think he expects the same (even though he says he doesn't). It is very frustrating and we have had a heap of fights about it, to the point of nearly breaking up. It is sometimes in front of W too.
MD, not much chance of getting anyone to look after W for a practice, I don't trust strangers with him and he won't go to bed for anyone but me. We are working on getting him to sleep for DH, so far it has been a week and he is starting to accept DH in the room without twigging out. The only real chance of DH being there is if I can go to the local birthing center and it happens overnight - there is a lady down the road that could come for a couple of hours if he was asleep. My mum would probably come, but she lives two hours away and works nights, and DH doesn't want her to look after W (probably because I wouldn't let his parents look after him lol)
I am starting to feel like I have been overmedicating W when he is sick, this morning he said "mum get one medicine, make William feel better"
-
Noni - hugs my sweet, soundslike one of those fights we all have over one thing or another... hope the storm has passed now... also agree with MD that it is never to early to get some counselling if you need it... better tonip it in the bud, esp as things will get more stressful around the house soon.
MD - how are you doing my dear? i am sorry you are suffering side effects... but good you have one round down! when is the next treatment... anyway i know you dont want to post about it in here so i will take my q's elsewhere LOL! how are the party preps going? sounds wonderful.
Sherie - the bleeding sounds so scary and awful. were you exhausted after? i hope it was the effects of the mirena removal - sorry i dont know much about these things... i hope next cycle is a better one.
Arte - i posted in your other thread re W during the labour. it is a dilemma. would be good if your mum could come when you are in labour so she is at least there when it is all over and she can spend some time with W - I am lining up mum to come and spend time with N - partly to make him feel super special but also so DH can have some time with the nb to bond etc. i still want hmto be able to have that special time with this baby - the 1st bath etc - and also to be in hospital to support me. if we dont have someone here to help with bed routine etc DH would have to go home at 5ish from the hosp and not come back. this way we can have some time in the evenings as well - when there is no one else allowed at the hospital. i am thinking i wont stay the full allowable time this time though, but will play it by ear and see how things go.
Rainy - so sorry J isnt a good sleeper. i agree you deserve a good one. i am hoping the nb will be better than N! you are doing so well. Bummer he missed kindy yest, canyou take hima diff day? btw how is the teething necklace going? i am thinking of getting one for N - and possibly one for the nb as well.
-
hi girls
pap- i think the teething necklace is a cracker! we've def noticed a difference. dh - who is the biggest 'non-believer' actually goes and gets it and puts it on lewis- so it's converted him! :) we got ours from inspired by finn.
lewis is going to kindy on friday if he's feeling better.
arte- sorry to hear about your dilemma. do you leave the house when dh puts w to bed? we thought lewis would never sleep for anyone else but when he stayed with dad he slept for him and slept through the night. unbelievable!
md- ooohhh i love tabouli.i wish someone had told me thin wasn't in 10 years ago- would've saved me a lot of angst. also would mean i wouldn't have a cupboard full of useless size 8 and 10 clothes. oh well,i'm just hoping the op-shop made lots of money out of the tonnes of skinny clothes i dropped off! :)
noni- we've had a couple of cracker blues too. a massive one when i was pg with lewis. not good! hope you're doing ok today.
sherie-how are you feeling now?
-
thanks Rainy - will def be investing in the necklaces. i thought i would have probs convincing dh but he was all for it. i will look at inspired by flynn too.
i agree with you re the sleep - N is so much better for others and my mum always asks me to make sure he knows i have gone out if she is putting him down, he calls out for me or dh if we are home but if we are out and then she baths him or whatever he seems ot go to sleep better - and the little bugger seems to sleep better when he knows i am not there to go to him...
-
pap- i can't believe you're nearly 35weeks!!! are you excited? have you got a definite name sorted? have you been getting accupunctured?
-
I KNOW!!! It feels like suddenly I am right near the end! I am very excited - I cant wait to meet this little one... yep we have name sorted... and no I am not telling LOL!!
I am going back to acupuncture next week - body prep etc, i am a little nervous to do too much pre labour stuff for some reason... but i want to have acu and today i am starting RLT and will do EPO from next week. I finish work next thu (yeee haaaa) so i will REALLY get into it then i am sure...
-
i can't wait to hear your birth announcement, who is doing your birth announcement? have you got someone lined up?
-
i havent lined anyone up yet... last time DH logged on as me and did it... will ask if he wants to do that or get one of you girls to do it for me...
-
thanx for all the kind words :) its good to know that even though im not around here much anymore if i need it theres always some lovely supportive ladies to make me feel better :)
had swimming today, it was good mums gonna be getting in the pool with her soon tho coz my swimmers are gettin too small haha and i refuse to buy more since im 31wks pregnant and all haha.. Ashas been in a horrible distructive mood all day, shes due to get out of bed soon tho hopefully the sleep has done her some good!
oh wow pap!!! and here i was thinking i was getting close!!
rainy - i wanted a teething necklace do u think its a waste getting it now tho? since Ash already has most her teeth?
-
noni- i think you should still get a necklace- they'll be good for her molars and you can reuse it on your new little man- plus they look super cute. make sure you get a smooth stoned light coloured one though.there's a few dodgy ones around. i can highly recommend inspired by finn.
pap- are you going to be sending out a group text message? have you still got my phone number? ;) ;)
-
hey there
yep i will send a group text i am sure - i dont have anyone mobile so if you want me to text you PM me with it.
bit stressed atm trying to get everything done and work... and not feeling like the brain is on top of things.this means i will be on BB more as i try to escape/deny all i have to do.
was a bit norty yest and took a couple of hrs off and went shopping... i just dont feel like i am prepared for baby yet. anyway went to Country road sale and boight heaps of baby stuff and gorgeous things for N - was meant to be getting new PJs etc fo rme but the store i went to didnt stock - so of course kids stuff it was!! then went to DJs and got a whole heap of baby clothes and basics on sale and also a new iron and some new flannel sheets for N... was lots of fun, but the legs were a rather swollen at the end of that! i think nesting is kicking in as well as can be for the non goddess amongst us - i have a desire to put all Ns toys in boxes and buy a label machine and label them. after they have all been washed etc... and of course i am planning a big cook up soon...
N is sleeping a lot better these days - how are all the others doing? the bed has made a big improvement... though he still wakes about 3 times... yes ia m trying to avoid going to sleep school i admit it!
-
PP LOL at you just buying baby things instead - that's something I would do too. It is really exciting that you are so close now, when you think about it you could only have 4 weeks left if you go a week early again (but totally not jinxing you LOL). I would love to get a group txt - #0428 184 372. Your DH did such a lovely annoucement last time. I am gagging to get to wagga next week to go to Myer LOL.
G, bugger about him getting sick. IKWYM about not sleeping when away from home. Alister is like that too unless I nurse him or go to bed with him. I hope it is just a stage Jimmy is going through. Have you tried some brauers' Colic and teething relief? It worked wonders for us when Alister was going through that. WooHoo on the shopping spree too.
Noni, don't worry about the fight  We usually have a blow up too if DH is really run down and overtired and stressed about work. And it really hurts when things get said in the heat of the moment and you do question yourself, but it's always best to have the blow up and then sort it out rather than nothing ever being said at all kwim?
Arte, I haven't seen your other thread, so I don't know what has been suggested to you already, but have you thought about just having him at the birth? He is a very clever little boy and I don't think he would be scared or upset by it at all and it's a way to have your DH there too so long as you do have that extra person who can take care of W when the time comes that you don't want him there or that you feel he needs support too. But then if you feel that you wouldn't be comfortable having him there then it would be best to start looking for someone that can have him till your Mum can have him.
AFM, well I think Alister must have inherrited Spider monkey genes somewhere along the way because the past few days he has conquered EVERYTHING in this house that can be climbed on! He can get in and out of his cot if 2 seconds flat, so that makes sleep time a bundle of fun now  even when he's wearing his sleeping bag he can still get in and out. He was climbing up the bookshelf the other day too - luckily its so big and heavy it would never tip but OMG it's relentless! And his speech is just amazing now too, I can't get over what he comes out with now. He loves to talk along with ads, like the one for healthy choice meals - 'take the car' etc. But even though it's like having 10 toddlers at times, it's still good kwim because that's when his personality really shines through the most. And yesterday I was having a huge clean out of my room getting stuff ready to take to vinnies and I had the bigger stroller out and I could hear "mum, stuck!" over and over and I went out and here he is, in the bottom of the stroller in the underbasket. I took a pic I will load on FB, it was hilarious.
I feel OK now that AF has gone, but yeah, I did feel really really tied for the duration. I got some iron tablets to take too, but the blooming things have me blocked up good and proper LOL, always the way
And the big excitement is that DH's sister is getting married on the October long weekend so now I have to find two flower girl dresses and OMG that's a bigger rort than wedding dresses!!! But there are some lovely ones from the US that aren't too badly priced, so I'm going to see if I can get them locally just to try on etc as I'm a bit hesitant about buying that sort of thing from OS kwim?
