Trill I live right in that area - so that's perfect to meet up...
we could honour MD and have a coffee at Pizazz in Kingston...
and then wander to the park near there?
or I am happy to meet somewhere else - fit in with your plans...
will you be too tired after the drive to meet? if not fri afternoon is great...
-
No, that's fine - sounds like a perfect way to unwind after the drive down.
-
Wow Ange, how exciting! DH and I are planning to leave this area before W starts school (not happy with the options here), I wish we were brave enough to go somewhere cool for a while before the school years start. Is it a fixed term contract?
MD, lol at your dream. Sorry about the cow story, I forget that things like that might disturb some people. It was pretty traumatic for a 12 year old to watch, it remains as one of my most vivid childhood memories lol
Trill, that is good news that A doesn't have coeliac disease. A little cousin of mine has it and nearly died from reactions a couple of times when his parents were starting solids. He is about 3 now and they have a terrible time finding food he can actually eat. I guess there are reasons that cousins shouldn't have children.....
Cally, sadly I can understand the trip to Sydney and the $800 cricket bat. DH's latest must have addition is a $1100 rifle. He somehow justified it by pointing out all the free venison we can have when he shoots some deer, but if you think about it $1100 buys quite a lot of meat (actual meat, not theoretical 'we saw some deer but...' futuristic meat) lol.
My house is a sty, I should be spending some time cleaning it or doing some other job I won't have time for shortly. Yet here I am on BB...
-
Arte, how are you feeling? Have you had the "ding, baby's cooked!" moment yet? LOL Stuff the housework, what you need right now is as much relaxation/resting as you can possibly cram in. xxx BTW I didn't mind the cow story, it just didn't go with my toast experience very well LOL.
PP & Trill - how exciting! That park at Kingston is awesome, we had a couple of celebrity sightings there when we first got to the ACT. If you go to Pizazz you will have to order some hotcakes, just for me :).
Ange - forgot to say, I've been excited all week for you...can't wait to hear what you think of PNG!
Saw on FB that Leanne is back from her very exciting O/seas trip. I hope she brought back souvenirs for everyone.
I'm eating a banana right now - & remembering when there was a banana shortage on! Man sooo glad that's over. Clare in case your reading what are you fave study munchies? I can't think/read/write without shovelling something into my mouth constantly & I can tell by the way you always talk about food when you're at work you're the same LOL. Or maybe it's just the ultimate procrastinatory tool...?
-
MD, you cannot go wrong with study M and M's! No 'ding' around here, still too worried about getting it out. After having another fight with DH and him agreeing to have mum watch W, I thought about the logistics and she would probably take close to 4 hours to get here, and then with the mutually agreed cut-off times when DH would need to be with W it turns out there is only a window of a few hours for the baby to arrive for it to actually work out anyway. So I have accepted that DH will miss it and am focusing instead on the special moment when DH and W get to come in and meet the new baby.
I remember that banana shortage. Why was that? Some cyclone or something? Gee there was a lot of whinging about it lol
I have been trying to prepare W a bit on what to expect with a new baby - he seemed shocked the other day when I told him new babies can't walk so I have been trying to let him know what to expect. Now he knows babies don't eat food (even breakfast!), they just drink special milk from mum. He was telling DH yesterday that new babies can't even sit up, just stay lying down. He sits and looks at a baby magazine and says he is reading about babies, very cute.
We need to be really careful what we say about anyone these days, W is absorbing everything at an alarming rate. Last week we went to Subway with BIL and he casually said 'I can't find my subway card', now a week later W pops out with "andrew can't find subway card, not in his wallet, might be at home...." I shudder to think of what we have unintentionally said that has been stored away for later reference.
-
Well just remember while you're in labour there will be a big bubble of love surrounding you. xxx
-
can i just say that when that bananna shortage was on i was actually teaching year 10 economics and it was the absolute best teaching tool to explain how demand/supply affect price. the kids were all referring to banannas in their end of year exam LOL
when it said to draw a diagram to help explain your answer, one of them drew a bananna and coloured it yellow. i am such a good teacher!
-
LOL Rainy!!!sorry - Ginger!!!
MD - v impressed yo uare having a banana while you work - v healthystudy snacks. mine were never that healthy. my current fave snack is carmens muesli bars - yum! i get the apricot and almond ones. yummo! i love telopea park too - i go there every day on weekends... until manuk pool opens - then i spend most of summer there!
Arte - will your mum still come up - i guess then she can watch W for some of the time at first for you? it is soo exiting it is all so soon.
-
Arte I wish one of us could be there with you (or looking after W). I am so excited for you and cant believe how close it is now.
MD well done on the healthy eating. I have been craving lots of fruit lately (I think it is the heat). Bring on all the summer fruits I say mmmm magoes and nectarines.
PAP and Trill I wanna come meet up with you too.
G I meant to say the other day that if you had of given us more notice we all could have come to your place for a big BB sleep over while DH is away.
Noni I agree with Trill about the BF. No matter what you choose though your still a great mummy.
PAP I am so glad that there are a few of us adjusting to life with two, its nice knowing I have somewhere to come when I need advice. I am feeling really good and really excited about labour. I am determined to make this labour different but am a lot more opened minded this time round.
How is everyone down south coping with the storm? Is it as bad as they say?
I am so over the heat already, I dont know how anyone copes when heavily pg in summer. The last two summers up here have been great but I think we might be in for a hot one this year. I think we will be spending loads of time in the paddling pool lol. I cant believ how crazy this weather is though, storms in the south and record breaking heat up here.
-
Arte - Well we will all be thinking of you & cheering you on. I'm sure your DH will be doing the same. YES its scary to think of how careful you must be with what you say, especially with clever W. Good memory or what?!
Ginger - Yes you are a great teacher!! Do you miss it at all & will you ever go back?? I love L & R's invite, loved it so much I've just emailed Maz for M's hi 5 invite.
Oz - I wish it was hot here! I know it must be hard for you though with a belly. Not long now, I am too excited!
Trill - I am so darn relieved for you & A. But like you said something is still not right, I hope the paed can help you out & give you some answers.
Noni - Go for it & give it another shot!
As for sleep, I would love for M to be in bed by 7.30/8, just for adult time. To have a break! Also so I can get some uni work done, seeing as her day sleeps are so unpredictable. I think you are all right about having a more set routine. We will start tomorrow night. Tonight wasnt too bad, after she calmed down from crying so much...
-
hey everyone,
having trouble keeping up.. the kids have been crazy and ive got my friend from melbourne and her son staying here as well..
ive been in contact with the aba through email councelling and they gave me the number for my local group leader.. i called her yesterday and she is going to try and get someone to come and see my here since id have to get public transport with the 2 kids to get to their meeting.. shes going to call back today.. feeling very up and down with it all.. dh isnt very supportive really he thinks we should just stick with formula.. he dosnt understand at all.. sometimes i think maybe hes right tho i mean what if i put in all this time and effort and the same thing happens again? i dont think i will handle that well.. ughhh why couldnt things just go well from the start? im so over everything and everyone atm im a total mess!!
-
Well Noni if the same thing happens again, at least you know you gave it 110% effort in trying to make it work. I really think you should give it another crack - I would have loved to be in your position where I at least had a chance of making it work. Tell Mick that you respect that he feels the way he does, but YOU just need unconditional support from him while you try to make this work.
Oz, having had one summer baby (Lindsay in Feb) it swore me off ever having another one LOL. Our nectarine tree has just started blossoming and I'm really excited - I love stone fruits and they are so good straight off the tree.
H, when Lindsay was this age, his bedtime was 8.30 and we gradually got it down to 7.30 by the time he'd stopped having day sleeps etc. It's so good to have them in bed that early just so you have more time to get stuff done unhindered before you can sit and relax for the night.
 G! I bet the exam markers got a giggle out of that one.
Had a big chat last night to a friend of mine about the whole uni thing and she reckons I would be abel to do it too - she's a teacher herself. DH also reckons I could start next year and go part time till A is at school and then go fulltime - but not sure if you can do it that way or not? So he's supportive of me wanting to do it which is great, just the timing might be too soon for me if I do it next year LOL.
-
sherie - you def should be able to do it that way - part time for a few years and then full time. you will knock a bit of time off it that way and also it'll be a nice way to ease into it... i guess it differs from course to course and with unis but you may be able to do 1 or 2 subjects a sememster or something for the forst couple of yrs. its great that DH is supportive (I should think so!!) - when would you have to apply etc? you will be a fabulous teacher... we need more like you!
Noni - hugs to you... glad the ABA can help you, how fantastic they can send someone to your house. they are a great organisation. I agree with Sherie just tell DH you really need his support as however this turns out you will have some ups and downs and the 2 of you need to be in it together. give it a shot, that's all you can do at this point sweetie.
MM - i think try to move M backa bit in her sleep. it will begood for you to get that time back. i dont know how your kids stay up so late, N is knackered by bed time! though eh has such fullon days maybe that is it.
all going well here... we are all sick though. N was coughing teribly all night, i hope he is ok at creche today... Jakey still has a cold (has had it all his life poor little guy) and so do DH and I. I cant wait for winter to be over! N's current obsession is with the washing machine, he loads it up each morning and watches and looks for his clothes in there!
-
Trill- You should definitely give it a go. You should have no probs doing part time and then swapping over to full time. How's A?
Noni- If you really want to BF you can do it. But if it is going to cause too much emotional anxiety for you then you need to weigh up if that's what you really want. To be totally honesty, BF'ing is hard to begin with. Sometimes when bubs has a growth spurt there can be days when you have the baby on your boob for 24hrs straight. But then things settle down again. If you want to BF you need to trust your body and trust that you will make enough milk for your baby. As long as those nappies are wet the weight gain isn't so much a factor. Obviously within limits, but sometimes both my girls have had tiny weight gains one week, only to have a great one the next week. It can be hard, but in my opinion it then becomes so much easier, but for me it took about 6-8 weeks before we had the feeding thing cruising along. Now it is so easy and worth all the hard yards we had to put in. You can do this if you want, but you have to really want to. I hope the ABA counsellor is able to give you some good advice today. xxx
G- Yes, yes you are, lmao @ the banana.
Arte- What a ****ty situation to be in. to be totally honest i feel like i could give birth on my own but obviously would prefer DH to be there. Mainly so he can share the experience and feel the elation of the birth too. I don't think i need him there, but what a wonderful thing for a couple to share. So i guess what i'm saying is, you'll do amazingly well on your own, but i feel for you not being able to share that special moment.
MM- i think sticking to the bedtime routine really works well here. Sometimes Lu has 45 min day sleep at 3pm sometimes 2 hours at 11am or 3pm, but we still go to bed at 7pm. Seems to work ok!?
OZ- heat + pregnancy sux! i enjoyed my winter pregnancy better i think. Nothing worse than sweaty thighs rubbing together. :p It was very windy last night and it rained like it used to when i was a kid, bucked down. But it wasn't too bad here. I think they talked it up a bit. :dunno:
MD- I couldn't study without my coffee and lollies! i always had a secret stash. Always took them into exams too.
I want to come to meet you girls too. If only it was closer!
Had a playdate with the lovely G yesterday, you should have seen dare devil L, he was climbing up a steep slide backwards by clinging onto to the netting. :o He has no fear, just follows the big boys everywhere. Sas and Jimmy are in love. Too cute! Will try and bluetooth a pic form my phone to FB.....
-
Noni - What a tough decision, but I think if you give it another shot & it still didnt work out, at least you tried your absolute best with it. See what the lactation nurse says when she comes out, hopefully she will get there today. Dont beat yourself up if it doesnt all work out, breastfeeding can be hard work for some of us!
Trill - YAY you should so go for it. You can even do one unit at a time. This is what I do, I only do this because I work two days as it is & I couldnt put M in any more than 3 days of care a week ifykwim. I feel guilty enough as it is!!! If you start off slowly it eases you into uni life, and you have more time to focus on your assignments as you dont have as many to do. & with young kids doing uni FT is definately do able, but hard work, you'd have to be organised. I am really hoping next yr that I can leave work all together & focus more on uni, just depends for us how much rebate we would get back from the govt for childcare & family tax benefit. Go for it, what course are you interested in, primary or kindy? My sis is doing kindy & LOVES it.
PAP - Ahhh no sounds like a nasty bug, poor J as well having had it practically since birth. How are you holding up sleepwise, feedingwise & now with sickness? Thanks for the tips, I will def be trying to bring that bedtime forward to a decent time! As for N, thats great that he is helping out in his own little way with the washing etc. I was actually watching supernanny last night (new fave show) & she was saying how its good to encourage toddlers to help out around the house, it gives them a new responsibility & they feel like a 'big boy' & it helps them to see that they are no longer the baby in the house, J has taken that spot iykwim. Just simple things like helping load the washing, sweeping with their kids brush etc. I thought that was a good point.
Falguni - Sorry, must have posted while I was typing! What did you study? Thats gorgeous about the kids being in love lol
Girls whats this right...a few times now M has come to me pointing to her thumb wanting me to kiss it better, when I grab her thumb it like clicks loudly back into place!? Its like she is dislocating it & asking me to put it right again. How strange.
-
Medical imaging MM. Not that i plan on scanning anyone in the next 4 years! Have thrown the idea of going back to ultrasound around a bit though. Not for a couple of years, but maybe. :) ETA- does it hurt when you click her thumb?
-
Thanx everyone.. Am still trying to bf him at different times through the day but having a lot of trouble attatching him and keeping him there.. Hoping to hear back from the aba councellor today hopefully she can organise someone for me (she wasn't 100% sure) I wish id done it earlier when I still had more milk.. I do still have milk easily available (starts coming as soon as I squeeze) but its slower flowing and I don't seem to be letting down like I was before so that makes him fuss a bit.. Hopefully we can get there tho.. Have cracks on both sides now which is no fun but still have hope have read stories where people have had extreme nipple damage and still managed to get through it and successfully bf its just getting his attatchment sorted out so he's getting enough because not only was he not gaining weight he wasn't weeing or pooing much at all so I've been told by aba as well as the gp he definately wasn't getting enough.. Dh will support me in whatever I chose but he's quite clear in his opinion that we should just bottle feed him which makes it hard.. He won't go against me in any decision I make just hard knowing he dosnt agree with me on something I think is so important...
-
Don't forget what Barb sid - it wasn't that YOU didn't have enough milk, but that HE wasn't able to get enough and that can often be due to a poor attachment. You should start drinking loads of water again as well because it's surprising how much something as simple as drinking enough water can have as well.
-
Noni, I hope the aba lady can help you out a bit. I know you always regretted it with A and it would be great if you could get W back to it. But also remember that if it doesn't work out he will still be a happy healthy boy and that you tried your best.
Ange, I am not that worried about labouring by myself, last time I barely noticed DH there anyway - it just makes me so upset to think of him missing the actual birth, not being the first to see bub and finding out the gender etc. I should have done medical imaging, I didn't think about it until the end of first year uni though and because it is a set course I wouldn't have been able to cross credit and there was no way I wanted to stay another year lol
Oz, at least the ladies pregnant over summer don't have to be lugging firewood all over the place. Most days I have to bring in a wheelbarrow load of firewood, it isn't that easy carrying it with my big fat guts in the way.
-
Wow Arte- that seems a bit rough. I know you wouldn't leave his brother out on the street, but is there anywhere else he can go????
I started studying a double degree Arts/Science, but didn't want to be a scientist (and naively thought that was the only path i was headed down. ;) ) so applied and started over!
-
Ange, all the rest of DH's family are in the south island, we are the only ones close.
I liked my science course, but if I had thought about it more I would have realised the actual jobs at the end of it are b-o-r-i-n-g. If I had my time again I would look for jobs that sounded interesting and train towards something specific no matter if the course itself was boring. I may yet retrain once the children are at school, actually I think I would be o.k once this new baby is at kindy to do a couple of units extramurally (MD, I used that just for you lol - what do you call distance papers over there?)
-
Distance education, correspondence???
Thats' funny you say that because i thought that my options were too broad with science/arts so wanted to do a degree where i had a job at the end. But now i feel so locked into that job and unless i do more study or lecture then i don't have many options to use my degree iykwim. Although i did Nuclear Medicine which is pretty highly specialised and only major hospitals have nuc med departments. If i didn't marry a farmer then this wouldn't be an issue. But the likelihood of us living near a major city is pretty slim! I should have done radiology then i would have a lot more options including shift work. But tbh i didn't enjoy the work that much and think i would much prefer ultrasound if i chose to go down that path. i think i would like working in PET but the radiation dose to the staff is pretty massive and i'd rather keep mine to a minimum!
What a pita about your bil, i mean you can't turn away someone in need, but less than ideal. And as for you family, i think you should just come back to the main island. ;)
-
Had I done medical imaging I would have gone for ultrasound, but that added yet another year on lol.
Actually my families lack of effort is a bit liberating because we were going to move closer to them in a couple of years to access better schools but since it is up to us to visit anyway then we can move anywhere in the country where we can find a good job/school/land combo and just visit for holidays without losing time with them.
Anyhows, I shouldn't complain about my situation, it isn't perfect but at least I have a house to live in... I think at this stage of your pregnancy with S you were homeless!
W totally rocks at music now! I can't believe how confident he is getting, he runs all around the room doing the actions with the other mums and yelling out bits of the words! He loves it and gives himself a big round of applause at the end of each song. I don't know what happened, he went from hating it and having a solid half hour tantrum each time to raving about it all week. I have even caught him practicing the actions for wheels on the bus!
-
Lu loves to sing too. She loves songs with actions, very cute!
-
arte - i missed something - what happened with your fam?
Ange - it is soooo exciting for you guys... how many yrs do you think you will be over there for?
your meet up with G sounds fun - i am jealous! maybe we can still arrange a melb meetup when i am next down there... I know Sas and Lu are promised to Lewis and Jimmy but i think my boys should at least get a look in first!! (and for miss Leila)...
G - how is DH going in Sydney? When is the case being heard?
Cally - thinking of taking N to see PLOP but i dont think it will be your session as we are off to melb that weekend.
-
Noni - good luck with the ABA counsellor today. I'm sure she will be very supportive & it's a good opportunity for you to talk through how you are feeling right now.
PMSL at extramural Arte! What sort of job do you think you will aim towards? Far out at you chopping wood and carting water...r u sure you don't want to come back to the mainland? BTW cracking right up at W's singing and dancing. Missy E hated the singing/actions at kindergym a few months ago but is getting right into it. Her faves at the moment are 'row row row your boat' and 'all the fish are swimming in the water' but if I sing too much I get told to "shoosh mummy". LOL Am thinking of having family karaoke hour this weekend, I reckon we can put a Playschool CD in the playstation with the singstar microphones attached and rock out!
Trill, definitely go for the study! CSU is particularly flexxy and I think you will find there is a certain proportion of staff in the education faculty who have BTDT with studying while working &/or raising a family. Don't let this get out to all the kiddies who are straight out from high school BUT they are definitely more flexible with extensions etc for mature age students who are usually more engaged with their learning than they are with the youngies.
Ange do the staff have radiation from being exposed to PET scanning :o? Gosh I will think about that next time I'm having one and be extra thankful there are ppl happy to do that job so that ppl like me can get the benefit.
PP - sparing you a thought with your family of sickies. Not fun...it's a long hard winter when you're not well. LOL at Noah's obsession with the washing machine, you can remind him about this when he's 16 years old and complaining about his share of the housework.
BTW True confession - yesterday's healthy eating was just a rumour. A mountain of crap followed hot on the heels of the banana. I'm all stocked up for today's essay writing with 20-flavours jellybeans.
ETA - Ginger will be thinking of you tonight especially. xxxx
-
Preg- sounds good. Rainy and i were just saying yesterday we should all meet up sometime.
MD- Have you noticed that once you have been injected the staff are less friendly? One you have the injection you are emitting the radiation. It continues until about 6 half lives of the isotope. All the glass is lead lined, so when the staff are in the console they are shielded, it's just when you are standing right next to a pt. You may also notice that staff talk to you at a distance, but increasing your distance from a radiation source you greatly reduce your exposure. The doses i got when working in PET were much, much greater than my regular reading. Mainly due to the fact it uses a different sort of isotope. Without banging on (which i seem to be doing today. :p) it is a different type of radiation with a shorter half life, but you need to use higher doses than regular nuc med procedures.
jellybeans is more like it. pft to banana!
-
bad news is aba person can only come saturday n it smy nans birthday (not to sound awful but shes quite old n hasnt met william yet n i cant really miss it..) good news is dh has noticed im struggling and is coming home soon as well as taking the next 2 days off in the hope we can make some positive steps towards sorting this all out.. aba councellor gave me some good advice n said i can rig her back any time and if im still struggling she can come the sat after..
-
hi girls!
sorry if this is all a bit jumbled still trying to work out how to use PC...
Ange: congrats to G on getting the job! what an amazing time and experience ahead for all of you!
PP: Def keep leila in mind for your lads LOL! too cute with all their curls combined it could be awesome! :D
MD: mmm love those jellybeans!
Sherie: i did part time for awhile there while living in Fiji. i *think* it was only 1 or 2 subjects. very doable...
how is mr A todayy?
Arte: lugging firewood is so not fun! i hope you are not made to chop it too! urgh i remember as a kid having to do it....blergh.
AFM: all good here. we have lost half our fence last night with the wind and the park opposite is trashed. there are trees down everywhere. yesterday the SES spent the day clearing debris in our street (during last weeks storm we had *issues* with branches and wheelie bins on the loose). they also came to our doors to ask us to clear our yards etc. also leila's window almost got taken out by a wood paling. pretty scary but overall our terrace is very well protected. bit worried about the back fence if we have anymore strong wind though.
-
Clare - more importantly, how is the house you just bought???
Def keep Leila in mind - the curls would be delicious!!
Though if any of your girls would really want me as a MIL??? i can see i will be a NIGHTMARE!! LOL
MD go the lollies - that's more like it.
Arte - no more schlepping firewood, that is def DH job... in my case even if not preg, but in your case at least this week you can sit around and let him to the heavy lifting!
Noni - bummer re this weekend, can she come when you woudl be home (or will you be at your nans the whole day?). Oh it will be lovely for your nan to meet william too! glad Dh is seeing the light and taking some time off, that will help.
-
MD, you need some practice at self justification! The 20 flavours of jellybeans include lots of fruit ones which are usually at least 5% fruit juice - therefore healthy!! They count towards your 5+ fruit and veges lol
Pap, I had a whinge before but removed it - should stop feeling sorry for myself, there are plenty of people out there that have it worse.
BBL, W is running around the yard and looks like he is on a mission which usually involves dog poo....
-
PMSL Arte!! Hope he isnt into the dog poo!
-
just a quickie - A is getting back to 'normal' - well what's normal for him anyway - nappies aren't as toxic so his bum is healing well. Still passing stuff he has eaten far too quickly though. I had a chat on the phone with someone from CSU and I can't do a bachelor of education part time or by distance ed unless I take the back door entry and do a undergrad arts degree first - which wouldn't be too bad because I could major in english,. The hardest part will be getting in because I have been away from study for 15yrs, and not working for nearly 10, so I will have to do a short 1 subject course or summer school to prove that I can do it etc.
-
Pap - she can only come at 3pm of a saturday her time is very limited as she has 2 kids at home herself and has to rely on her husband to watch them..
I rang the aba back tho and explained the situation and they gave me the number for another group reasonably close to here and it turns out they're having a meeting tmw morning.. I don't know that id go generally coz it would be 2 bus trips from here but since dh is going to be home he can drive me.. Also have an appt with the mach nurse well not really an appt they know im coming but its a drop in clinic...
Have been trying to bfeed before feeds if he's not to cranky or just generally whenever he looks like he might give it a go.. Having some success I think he's getting some coz he's taking a little less formula and still seems content.. Really need that help tmw tho because the attatchment is bad I've got quite a few cracks and things now coz we just aren't getting it right...
Sorry I've been so selfish for the last well I spose 10mths lol hopefully one day I can be a better baby buddy :(
-
noni dont feel you are a bad buddy - you have a lot going on atm...
the meet up tomorrow will prob be really good for you - let us know how it goes. it sounds like you are moving ahead really well alraedy so that little bit of help will set you on a good path. thecracked nipples etc will calm down, i had so much pain the first few weeks - have you been using lanisoh that did help - as did some bm on the nipples and a lot of bra/top free time. it will get easier...
sherie - wow thats a long path but sounds like it could be good... i guess the teaching wouold be like a yr add on to an arts?
girls i think Jacob has developed a flat spot on one side of his head - tips????
-
Ohhh Noni so worried for you, I hope you can sort out this breastfeeding and soon! Its such a shame that there is no one who can get to you sooner, its sad & obvious that breastfeeding is an area thats so under funded iykwim? What about the hospital you birthed at, they would have a lactation nurse you could see, maybe you could even go to her - such a pain I know but at least you would be getting help asap.
Trill - You will get in no problems. I'm excited for you!! I agree with PAP, the lecturers do seem to be more lenient with us mature age students. You will be suprised at how flexible most lecturers are (some arent of course). But so far I've had excellent lecturers that treat you like a normal person & they dont act like they are bigger than you iykwim.
Just ran up the shops for milk & bread, M chucked the biggest wobbly in the shops, so embarrassing. To top it off the child who we visited last week (the really well behaved one that M beat up!) came past with her parents....boy did it look bad lol. BUT I am laughing about it today!
-
Ginger - PMSL at the banana!!
Noni - good luck tomorrow with the ABA meeting and the MACH nurse.
PAP - we are going to the 10am session on the Saturday for Plop. So looking forward to it and the whole weekend up there. The only bad thing will be I won't be able to dump K and go shopping because my parents are still away!!
Clare - that is a big storm! Very windy here for the last few days but we seem to have escaped unscathed.
MD - my study lolly of choice is Jaffas. Always ended up with a little ulcer on my tongue though from all the sucking, but still totally worth it!
Re singing, DD is a definite fan, but sometimes we start singing (DH and I both have no talent whatsoever) and she just shakes her head and says no. She loves any song with actions. We had a singing session in the car the other morning and then I had to wear my IPod for 30 minutes when I got to work because I had Dr Knickerbocker going around my head!!
Well K is growing up. She has been tricky to get to sleep at kindy in the cot room with the other babies the last week (ie not wanting to wear her sleeping bag, being a bit whingy etc), so today they asked if she wanted to sleep with the big boys and girls. So she spent her first day out on one of the stretchers in the main room and went straight off to sleep. The carers think that she thought the big boys and girls didn't have to sleep because a lot of them were up again by the time she woke up from her naps.
And this morning I put her hair up in two little pigtails - she looked so grown up! Of course they only lasted 5 minutes, but it's a start. We got a book that had a man with only one boot and since we read that she has been obsessed with wearing her ugg boots. At the moment we have one with a little boy wearing a beanie and every time she reads that she has to put her beanie on. So this weekend we are going to try and find some books with little girls with pigtails and hope the obsession continues! She has a little brush but the bristles are really soft and it's not very good so we might let her pick her own brush and get some pretty hair bands (instead of the plain black ones I have).
DH and I are going to my boss' place for dinner this weekend so K is having a sleepover at Nan's. Really looking forward to the sleep in. Will have to write detailed instructions though for bed, she is really particular at the moment. Needs her sippy cup, Lavender and Winston laying each side of her, blanket over the top (including the toys), the printed bear side must be facing up!!
Time for bed
