Congratulations Arte on the safe arrival of Amelia!!!!
Wow, can't wait to hear more about the birth and what W thinks of it all.
Hi to everyone else, just had to pop on after seeing Arte's announcement on FB.
Made an awesome lighthouse cake today, will put photos up tomorrow. K had a wonderful party tonight at Nan's (bbq - not baked dinner YAY!!) but she is going to be zonked tomorrow (6am wake up, 45 min nap, post 8:30 asleep tonight).
Time for me to go to bed too.
Clare - just wanted to say safe travelling tomorrow, good luck at the rally.

sherie - what time suits you? i can do morning or afternoon. N sleeps (fingers crossed) about 1pm to about 2.30 so anytime aside from then (unless you would prefer to come over to my place for lunch. how many kids will you have with you? thinkung that may determine venue LOL
Ok well I'm 35 (again!!!) today and it started horribly, had a big cry in the bathroom this morning - my aunty- few times removed - who had lung cancer diagnosed a few weeks before me - died last week and my family conspired/neglected/??? to not tell me until yesterday (trying to protect me???) & her funeral was on friday so of course I missed it. I'm just devastated, but had to hold it together for our big day out at the Royal Show yesterday. Then I was on my way home from school run and saw the fencing man at the neighbours house and I was $#@^&% $#@$@%^$!!!!! because I hadn't been round to have the difficult conversation about how we can't afford it unti next year. Anyway I went around there and he said don't be silly just pay us when you can (yes in a year's time is ok) and I was so relieved I gave him a big hug (!) Then I got home and a delivery van pulled up, then the postie arrived, and...
Oh my dear friends I love you one and all. I'm sitting here amidst a pile of cards, beautiful artwork, parcels and even a bunch of gorgeous flowers (!!) and I'm crying again this time for happy reasons (tho I was cacking myself Trill when I opened "Give the B!tch her chocolate" - it has pride of place next to the lappy - and I have it open at "Eating my weight in chocolate ice cream helps me cope." ) I can't tell you how thrilled I am, and so touched. Thank you everyone, and for all your online birthday wishes. :grouphug: I really did need an extra special birthday this year. :)
MD - glad your birthday is improving! Hope the afternoon is just tops!
Ginger - I missed this weekend's episode, will have to watch it on the IView thing.
Clare - how was the rally, did you get very wet?
Ange - looking forward to hearing all about your trip. Is Glenn going to take that job?
MD i am glad that everything arrived and that it cheered you up... sounds like an aw***l start to the day but ti can only get better hey... you can thank Miss Arte for getting all our butts into gear for you - thoughtful lady she is.
PP & Clare - I'm crushed on your behalf that you missed seeing each other - kinda fitting tho when you think about how close you guys lived and prolly had that many near misses in the early days.
Arte, you are amazing. That's all I'm going to say!!!
Cally, I have yet to work out how the iView thing works and if it's all it's cracked up to be.
Ange - wow can't wait to hear about your trip and what you thought of everything - once you're back home and settled of course.
Afternoon Girls,
MD-it makes me so happy that you are happy enjoy the rest of your birthday:dance:
Morning Girls
where are you all today.
I'm here!!! Geez it is quiet on here - maybe one of our quietest days ever!!!
Hope everyone is doing well today...
I am a bit stressed, DH is going oseas next week... to Jakarta of all places too... not impressed. it also means my trip to melb is cut short... so bummed about that...
Also the party place where i had ordered all the plates etc for N's party called me TODAY (i ordered on wed) to tell me they dont have what i ordered in stock. umm so why have you charged me andf told me it will delivered to my door by today. GRRRRRRR so i had to make a mad dash and get what i coiudl here. lets just say i hope the kids dont ask why there are zebras, giraffes and lions in the barnyard LOL!
hi girls, i'm here
pap-that is really bad customer service...oh no about dh going to jakarta, i'm sure he'll be ok but that sux for you....hugs
what did you do when N's hair got so long that it hung in his eyes?
i'm starting to get a bit upset about people calling j a girl. it happened on thurs, fri and again today at the swimming pool.
Hi Ya Ladies,
PP- Bummer on DH going overseas hope he is not away long. Thats terrible about the party stuff are they darft.
Ginger-OMG they called my boys girls even when they had no hair and dressed in blue people are just dumb sometimes..
Although I think If I hear another person comment on Livi's red hair I am going to scream...... Whats the big deal ....... so its red is that so different . Oh and people always ask where does she get the red hair from.........People its all in the genes........ who cares really...... Are they just making small talk or are they really serious. how on earth could that possibly be interesting.... Sorry I am a bit crazy today...
LOl Leanne - I know what you mean, i think some ppl just say stupid stuff about babies to say something
Ginger - I get the what a pretty girl comment ALL THE TIME about Noah. he says 'i am a boy'. Dont let it get to you, they cant help being that good looking LOL! Umm when N' s hair started going in his eyes i used to put it behind his ears - but it is so curly this took a long time as it springs up a lot at the front. do you know i STILL havent cut his hair (though i did trim the fringe last week)
yeah well jimmy's hair is getting ridiculously long in the front and keeps getting in his eyes, so my friend's dh gave him this really cool boys' rip curl headband from a surf shop. he just looks too pretty in it though i think. i don't wanna cut it till he's at least 12 months though...grrrrrrr
that's so cute. that'll sto pthem calling him a girl! unless it's pink...or sparkly!
G, now that the weather is getting warmer, start putting a hat on him and it will disguise his hair a bit so you can't tell how long it is. Lindsay would have had hair like J's if I didn't start cutting it short back and sides at 6mths LOL.
MD my dear friend, I'm so happy that you managed to salvage a happy birthday after all the sad news  I think your family should have given you more credit at what you could and couldn't cope with and just told you because you will never get that chance back to say your goodbye. And did you manage to catch a glimpse of the Cook herself? I would love to spend a day in her kitchen with her.
Cally, super effort on the cake! It looked fantastic.
Leanne, I think Livvy's hair is gorgeous. You look around these days and see so many women paying top dollar for hair that colour.
PP, Only 3 more sleeps LOL! I'm more than happy to meet after N's sleep time - maybe 3.30? I am hoping to leave here by 8.30 at the latest to get there by 1 so I have time to go to the motel and unwind. I will only have Alister with me. I don't mind meeting at a cafe/coffee shop because Alister will tear your house apart LOL and I don't want to impose on you at all what with the family coming and everything.
OK, so we saw the paed today and he was really thorough - we were in with him for nearly 1hr just going over Alisters history and family history etc, then he weighed and measured him. He's pretty sure that it's not an allergy/intollerance (thank god!) and wants to do some more poo tests to rule out giardia for sure but he was erring towards it just being toddler diarrhoea which is when the lower bowel can't absorb all the water out of the poo so that's why they get the diarrhoea. They usually grow out of it within 12-18mths and so long as he doesn't loose weight he should be fine, so he just wants us to have him weighed and measured every 6mths to keep an eye on it. Otherwise he's perfectly healthy and robust apparently. So even though the not knowing how much longer it will go on for is frustrating, it's good to know that it's not caused by an underlying medical issue kwim?
LOL no it's light brown, kinda what you would imagine some surfy boy pulling his dreadlocks back of his face with LOL
where is everyone? it's been really quiet lately
how is little j going?
eta-hi trill, good news about A :)
Hi everyone.
Ginger, I can't believe that people call J a girl - he has long hair but his features don't look girlish at all. People just comment on anything standout about babies.
Leanne, lol, it must get annoying when everyone says the same thing all the time.
MD, so very glad that the parcels brightened up your day. You deserve it. And a massive Woohoo to Australia Post! Who would have thought that they could deliver things on the right day!
Ange, no DH didn't come to the birth but he it actually worked out better that way. If he was there I would have felt obligated to pay him attention and he would have been trying hard to do something to help but not know what to do iykwim. Without him there I was able to completely zone out and had the best possible birth because of it. He is a bit squeamish anyway and to him the birth isn't as important as other aspects of fatherhood.
Things are going well here. We have had the few lovely newborn days where they only sleep and feed and lull you into a false sense of security lol, now she has woken up a bit and spends ages looking around.
Feeding is going really well. I haven't had much sleep, the first couple of nights she woke as soon as she went into her cot - I think her room was too cold and we ended up sleeping on the couch but I couldn't sleep because my blanket kept slipping off and it was freezing.
It seems that William has had a massive developmental leap. He is talking more conversationally - he will provide extra info without us having to ask what/where/who etc and is using even better sentences and more random topics. He is also becoming very confident in group situations and is really enjoying the activities that we go to. DH took him to a kindergym thing the other day and he was leaping off things and the other kids were actually following his lead which is fantastic since he has always been a stand back and watch kid. He seems to be coping well with Amelia, he is always asking to cuddle her. He has been a bit silly sometimes behaviour-wise but in general seems to be adjusting well.
hi ladies :)
Pap - how long will your dh be away for? I can understand why you're stressed. Will you have someone stay with you while he is away?
Ginger - how about a little bit of gel???? i'm just kidding of course. (although maybe if little J gets squirted with some bm, you could just slick it back from his face lol) He's such a cute little baby.
Trill- that's great that the Paed was thorough, and good news that it's probably not an allergy or intolerance. Let's hope that it clears up before 12months. Poor little munchkin.
arte - that's great that W loves his little sister so much - and great that he is challenging himself physically as well. You'll have to video him talking and put it on our group. I'm so amazed at how well he speaks. I miss those sleepy cuddles where they can fit on your chest.
Leanne - Livvi is such a little cutie. It's strange how people have a fascination with red hair. I know a little girl - I think she is 4 - who has beautiful curly red hair. Apparently it's the only thing people ever comment on and she hates it.
md - I'm so sorry that your Aunt passed away, and that you weren't told straight away.
I'm glad that the ladies here brightened your day.
eta - arte - i remember seeing that you asked about my grandma - a few pages back! - sorry - didn't want you to think i was ignoring you lol. I actually haven't been to see her in a while. I'm feeling quite guilty. The last time I saw her she yelled at me at the top of her voice ( the only time i ever heard my grandma raise her voice was when she was cheering her horse on at the races!) and gave me a real fright. I know i should suck it up and go back, but it really shook me. I'm planning on going up to see her with my Dad. Thanks for asking. You're a sweety :) How is your grandma going?
:hooray: Big news of the day - HAD MY LAST CHEMO TODAY!!! :leap: Of course I've still got the side effects to get through but I do feel like I've jumped the last hurdle and am now making my way toward the finish line!!!
Arte good to see you online. Hope you get some more sleep soon. Is it worth thinking about heating A's room overnight? We notched up our central in Canberra for that reason and when we lived in Sale I bought an electric heater and just kept it on the low setting in our room where DD1 slept. it wasn't toasty warm but it wasn't cold, either.
Trill - aww no haven't been to see Maggie yet. This weekend if I'm feeling up to it. If I see her I'll ask her a question on behalf of all you ladies...what do you want to know??? What a huge relief, so good to know you've spent time with a dr who knows what they are talking about, kwim?
Ah so annoying when ppl confuse boys and girls!!! Just cos they're pretty doesn't mean they're pink LOL. And Leanne I hear you on the whole red hair thing! I think they just want to strike up a conversation cos she's gorgeous. Think up something original to say, peoples!!
Cally I've got to agree, the cake was fantastic!
Speaking of cakes they had an *amazing* ITNG cake which won first prize at the show. I'll have a go at posting a piccy tomorrow (having trouble keeping my eyes open right now) - I was very impressed until my friend pointed out they used a toy ninky-nonk and just stuck fondant over the top of it (!!! CHEATS !!! - tho still fabulous anyway as you will see) So now I'll feel very happy to stick our plastic figures on our cake LOL.
Md - that's so fantastic!!! Must feel great to know that you don't have to go through that again.
Marydean that is the best news!!
I am so pleased that hurdle is done
I meant to say I am sure your family meant well but I agree with trill they underestimated you
Anyway I guess what's done is done
Arte good to hear from you and sounds like all is great
I have our heating at 20 and an oil heater for Jacob and that helps here
William sounds as delightful as ever
Hi Girls,
MD- Yippeeee I am so glad that the chemo is all over with.
Art- William is amazing. Glad things are going well with A and hope she starts enjoying her cot at night.
Sorry girls I've been terribly slack lately. Well I guess not slack, just really really busy!!
MD - I am so pleased that you have finished your chemo, great news. As for your family not telling you about your Aunt, (very sorry to hear) I'm sure they mean no harm just trying to 'shelter' you a bit. Its a hard one though, I wouldnt know whether to tell or keep it a secret in that situation either.
Arte - Glad to hear all worked out well with A's birth in the end. W sounds like he is doing really well.
Trill - Good news about A, thank goodness it isnt an intolerance. Hopefully it is just this toddler diorehea problem. I hope its sorted soon.
Leanne - Aww poor you I can imagine, all those comments about her red hair would drive me nuts too. For the record O's red hair is gorgeous & I agree its probably just a conversation starter. I used to get comments from strangers all over the joint about how chubby M is, not so much anymore but used to drive me nutso.
Rainy - Its not like you go dressing J in pink, whats wrong with people? I've even had people call M a boy when she's wearing girly clothing lol. Let it go over your head.
Oz - YOU ARE NEXT IN LINE, COME ON DOWN!!! So excited for you Katie. Wasnt so long ago you announced it in here, that was like last week! lol. Oooh hoping for a girl personally but two boys would be wonderful.
hi girls
i am on my normal computre now (was on the itouch yest) so i can write a bit more.
MM - good to hear from you. how long til Bali now? very exciting!
Ange - cant wait to hear all about pNG and what you guys are thinking. one of my other friends has just got a posting there with Aus Aid too - she will be in PM though.
Ginger - how are the party preps going? i cant wait to hear all about it.
Trill - how about text me when you are here. if it is nice weather i could pick up some arvo tea and we could meet at the park - boys can burn some energy. if bad weather we can meet at a cafe? my house will be in party prep mode and actually my housekeeper will be here so it prob isbest to meet out if that's ok.
things are going well here. Can you believe J is 2 months already??? how fast it is going. he is v awake now, suddenly doesnt sleep all day long.... (i think this is normal at this stage??). i am trying to remember what it is i should do with him e.g. read books etc etc (tips???). with all this awake time... he is delicious - smiling all the time, cooing, kicking and swiping at toys... poor little guy seems to be having little bit of wind pain in the early mornings but i am sure that will pass... N is as gorgeous as ever... getting v excited for his party on sunday... and v sure he wants to dress up as a chicken!
Clare - tell us about the rally. And how are the Italy plans coming along?
Noni - how are you?
Well I had better go, i think J is ready for a feed (for a change!)
Good morning everyone
I thought i'd take a break from cleaning the house, and pop in. Hannah has been helping me do the vacuuming. She kept wanting to sit on the vacuum cleaner (likes the air blowing in her face) so i gave her our little battery operated volta and off she went - even picked up toys in her way!!!
I'm a bit exhausted though - have been going walking in the mornings after school drop off with a couple of other mums. Hopefully i'll lose enough weight to get into a nice dress for my sisters wedding.
anyway, better go clean the loos
hope you all have a fantabulous day :)
MD, yay for your very last chemo!!
JaZaH, that must have been horrible when your grandma yelled at you  Good idea to go and see her with someone else, then you can always step away for a moment if you need a breather. My nana is actually doing really well. After settling in she quite likes it there, at her house she never kept the heat on and it was always freezing but at the home it is always warm and she says they are constantly feeding her lol. It is her 96th birthday in a couple of weeks (she is actually my great-grandmother)
Oz, I am so excited for you - next off the rank!
Pap, cute that N wants to dress as a chicken lol. I am attempting the orange 4wd cake today.
A very long night here, A won't sleep in her cot. Happy to during the day but won't stay asleep in there at night. I had the room quite warm last night so I don't think it is temp. Oh well, who needs more than 3 hours of sleep anyway!
I'M BAAAACCCKKKK!!
(you know you missed me rofl!)
phew HEAPS to get through!
Arte: congrats again and so lovely to hear that you guys are hitting the ground running. so jealous of all your newborn snuggles! will my time EVER come arrghhh?! lol!
PP: agghhh! that is so funny that we missed eachother, we hung out at manuka for a little bit (ie the cool baby store). did a few laps (including witnessing my daughter LICK the wall outside of the carla zampatti store :o.
MD: so awesomely happy that our timing on the cards etc were splendiferous! and the biggest YAY in the world for the end of chemo. can't believe that that is over! so happy and proud of you!
Jaz: ooohhh can H have a chat with L and teach her how to pick up toys LOL! i'm liking the idea of morning walks. so good for the soul. our MG used to do them but the weather here is soo inclement that it is not a joyous occasion but rather and opportunity to test your resolve...ours was not great so now we just feast on cake and coffee...ah well.
MM: is it work that has been busy? our mortgage people have been telling us today that it is madness ATM with ppl getting market confidence again and buying loads of investment properties, so no doubt you have been kept busy....egad, it is property stuff you work in isnt it LOL?!
G: ahhh well on the flip side Leila was a 'boy' for donkey's years. drove me bonkers.
Sherie: cooee, must be some toddler poo though! i was thinking giardia, but i thought they tested for that already?
AFM: we are good! we had an AWESOME time at the rally. over 3000 people showed up from all over the country!! much better response than they thought that's for sure (especially considering the torrential downpour that accompanied the rally). it was great. great vibe, great people, lots of fun.
although the driving to canberra and back in a 24 hour period is less than ideal i must say LOL! leila coped really well, it DH and I that suffered LOL! too much driving and too much action during the rally day.
i also forgot the kinderkot!!! so we had to in a rather impromtu fashion take cushions from our friends couch and wrap them in a sheet and hoped for the best that Leila would sleep on it...AND SHE DID!!!!! out like a light! so proud of her.
Clare - Well done for going to the rally and standing up for something that you believe in. I'm impressed that your hubby tagged along, what did he think of it all? So you must be in the process of signing your loan docs? YES its madness at work, but we are having more 1st home buyers than investors atm with the $21,000 grant & no stamp duty. Its crazy. I had to attend all the settlements on Mon & Tues & they are always so stressful! Apart from that, uni work as well.
Arte - Oh nooo, the first few weeks what a nightmare. Hoepfully it will pass quickly for you & A will be sleeping decent hrs at least.
Jaz - Thats the way, put them to work, start them while they are young hehe ;)
PAP - Cant wait to hear about N in his chicken suit lol. Put some pics up on FB! Bali is still almost 5 wks away. It cant come soon enough, the weather here is so crapola and all 3 of us are well & truly over the winter bugs. Atm we have colds & conjunctivitis - well Mads & I anyway, DH always manages to escape hehe guess it helps that he's in Adelaide atm lucky bugger.
Had the mother of all toddler trantrums today at the local park, from a little missy who didnt want to go home. Literally had to carry her kicking & screaming to the car, luckily the park was empty (weather dodgy atm & managed to find a little pocket of sunshine) but the council workers maintaining the park had a good laugh lol. What a rascal, even continued the kicking & screaming in her seat while we drove home.
he he he! we ALWAYS have the kicking and screaming when leaving 'cool' places...including kindy  how embarrasing LOL!
WHAAATT??!!! FHB dont have to pay STAMP DUTY over there???!!!!!! SO JEALOUS. we just paid close to $40,000 in SD. spewing. that could of paid for a nice little upgrade on our kitchen and bathroom. so wrong.
the rally sounds great Clare - I cant beieve i missed you in Manuka - i should have known to pop into Bamboozle! i cant believ you drove both ways in 24 hrs, you guys are CRAZY!!! i cant even bear the thought of driving at all with N and J. in fact i havent driven that route since we moved here. so, what's the italy plan? i am very jealous... LOL at licking carla zampatti's walls - at least she has class your girl!
MM - poor you with the conjunc and cold. i hope it passes soon. lol at the tantrum. i thik we are lucky - N has them but getss o upset he asks for a cuddle and it is over. maybe the worst is still to come for us.
so this is the menu for our party - can you give me feedback. i think we will have about 15 kids and maybe 25 adults. Savoury - fish goujons, spinach and cheese triangles and maybe mini pizzas. sweet - fairy bread (kids may get some if you prize me away - i LOVE it), gingerbread animals, fruit, bday cake. do you think this is enough? i tend to go overboard with catering so i am trying to keep this low key. went to the toy library today too and hired heaps fo stuff so the kids will have LOADS of fun - slide, massive dolls house, see saw... i hope the weather is good been raining all week but last weekend was gorgeous.
girls i am getting quite worried about J's head/neck - he really does favour one side. i called the osteo and am on a wait list... not sure what else i should do?
