Clare, wishing Miss Leila a very happy birthday - though it sounds like all her wishes have already come thru with that pink suitcase...I will eagerly look out for it on the lawns of Parl House on Monday! LOL A dolly cradle is on Missy E's wish list. Your farm theme sounds fabbo, we did all the crepe paper streamers on the hills hoist one year, my tip is make sure the line the dry before you put them up (or you will get a damp crepe paper mess on the ground underneath - speaking from personal experience here LOL).
Ok I'll fess up re the kitchen - the discounted price was $180 (*makes choking noise*) BUT I'd just found out how much Centrelink back pay we're getting (it was a fall-off-your-chair-moment) so what they hey. There were more wooden ones in the shops at the time of the sales - I guess there *might* be more again before christmas but I won't be in a shopping-state at that end of the year & I didn't want to wait another whole year to get it. It's a kidcraft country kitchen - looks a bit like their prairie kitchen (if you google) but with a bit of pink. Same co makes some really funky retro style ones too.
Happy 2nd Birthday Leila
Party themes: no party here, but the cake thing seems to be quite important to DH and he blabbed and told W you get a cake on your birthday so all going well I will be making an orange 4WD cake.
MD, you won't regret paying the extra for the wooden kitchen when she can still use it years from now. I am not sure what the Wotwots are, I saw an ad on telly for some toys but I haven't seen the show. Is it another of those nonsensical babble ones like ITNG and Tellytubbies? I can't stand those sort of shows, they don't get played around here.
PAP, what have your IL's done? Feel free to vent away, everyone loves a good IL's whinge lol Sorry your ob was a bit of a disappointment. I didn't even get checked at the 6 week check! I went to my GP, she just asked how I was feeling, listened to W's heart and that was it. Was out of there before my appointment was due to start lol.
Hey everyone!
Happy Birthday Leila! Clare, that's awful about the migraine, I wonder what brought it on after all this time? I hope you don't get another one any time soon. Your Gen was very funny last night, bugger that it finished now. Shaun is just hilarious - such a dry sense of humour.
Cally, I hope you stay safe down there - I know the fires are well away from you, but it is just such a worry now kwim. We got 11mm of rain too which was super great. Bugger about the timing of you coming to canberra - would have been lovely to meet you finally.
Arte, you are well and truly on the last legs of this pg now! One handed countdown and everything LOL. The WotWots are sort of like teletubbies because they don't really talk, but it's heavily narrated and it is focused on them being at a zoo so they learn about all sorts of animals etc. It's quite quaint.
Gosh, I can't remember where I am up to now LOL
MD, do you have anything planned for Monday at all for your special day? The kitchen sounds gorgeous. I have always coveted a wooden one as they just seem so much sturdier than the plastic ones. Preschool has an excellent one that I wish we could afford LOL. It will pay for itself in no time I'm sure.
We aren't doing a party for Alister this year, we've only really done the 1st birthday and then that's it. We still have family over and have cake and everything though.
I agree, Your Gen is a crack up. I especially love the way Shaun's patronises Josh endlessly and Josh is always happy for him to do it (hilarious every time IMO). I reckon they should dress up every week, it was hilarious. Even funnier because both my DD and DH thought shaun was dressed as Edward Scissorhands PMSL!
Well done on your Slice triumph Trill. Noice work. We're making a big deal of the party because my fam and friends all missed when she turned 1 yo. So it's a bigger deal this year than it otherwise would've been. Not sure what I'll do on Monday, we've got the Show here at the moment and we're going on Sunday so I'll prolly be exhausted...might catch a movie or take in a bookshop or something nice like that. Dad's taking us out to dinner on Sat night and it's very exciting because it's a *mystery location* restaurant and I'm busting to find out where LOL!
Arte I can't wait to see that orange 4WD - sounds craaaaazy! LOL How are you feeling - over it and uncomfy yet or still cruising?
PAP sorry you had a less than fabulous experience with that ob...he was fantastic every time I saw him so dunno what happened there. Vent re your ILs anytime - tho it sounds like you would rather save your breath for other things right now.
Ok well better go, have an actual coffee date this morning!! It's payday so I'm looking forward to stocking up on moisturiser and cleanser and all the things I have been making do without for the last umpteen fortnights :).
hi girls!
thanks for all the birthday wishes! it was a lovely day and i think Leila had an absolute ball. cant wait for the party now!
MD: 180 for a wooden kitchen is a good price! the ones that i had been looking at were closer to 300. but like sherie and arte said, they will last the time and can be used by a million kids when they all come over for future sleepovers
i too like the shaun/josh banter. total crackup. went to josh's website a little while back and if you register for his newsletter you get a rubber duckie named after you on his home page. pretty cute and soooo gen y LOL!
Arte: the yellow truck cake does sound exciting!
Sherie: DH reckons the migraine was 'ode to labour' LOL! i think it was just an unfortunate flare up of an old shoulder injury that i have been ignoring for years. still very tender in the neck area and the headache is kinda lying quietly at the back.
AFM: not much to report. blowing a gale here again today but at least the sun is shining and warming up my old cold bones. have a headcold now too to boot. so over winter.
i wonder how Kate is going?
Clare, glad that your migraine has gone, sounds like a whooper.
Isn't the weather crazy atm! I was sitting outside marvelling at how lovely and warm it was with the sun shining, went inside for about 2 minutes and when I looked out W was sitting in the sandpit being hailed on!
Ginger, were you planning to get a 14 ft trampoline? They are massive! W has just figured out how to jump and how to land on his bum, it has been sitting in the yard for a few months now but he has finally started to use it. It is a great size though, especially with two kids. How is the pony campaign going? Really there aren't that many ongoing costs with a Sheltland pony - those things can live on the smell of grass so you don't need to give them heaps of supplimentery feed, probably the biggest cost would be the hoof trimming every few months, which isn't even that much. Tell him that the dirt bike probably uses more in petrol than a pony would cost.
Finally had some time today to paint the babies bookcases - one more coat and they will be finished. That will be satisfying.
Trill, I forgot to answer you about the size of the bookcase. W's one is 1.3m, the babies one is 90cm and the one in the office that had to be butchered to fit in is 2.4m.
I find W's one to be a good height for him - he can't reach the top two shelves so I have all the books that are too old for him and the soft toys that just mess up the place up high so he can't reach them. I am sure you could make a really nice set for the girls, they aren't hard at all.
ETA, does anyone have any fathers day plans? DH doesn't think it is a big deal (hence the reason I get nothing for mothers day) so we aren't doing anything. I let W pick a present when we went shopping last week, he managed to pick something surprising relevant (a Kombi shaped tin - we have a Kombi), we got it wrapped while DH was out but within 3 minutes of DH getting home W was saying 'might get that Kombi one for dad' and was going to retrieve it so we gave it to him early.
hi girls
been reading but not posting, feeling totally unmotivated!
happy birthday pretty girl leila!!!
arte- we have the 14ft tramp on layby. it's huge but our backyard is an acre so it won't look silly iykwim? can't wait...
operation pony has been temporarily stalled.....dh is being v stubborn so i'm giving it a rest for a little while....
shouldn't you be in labour or something? loL
md-no party theme here....just 'have fun and get amongst it!' LOL
we're having a rabbit and teddy bear turn up to entertain the kids and make balloon animals, and face painting/pony rides/dirt bike rides/trampoline/bbq.
went to ange's on tues for vegie lasagne. i think lewis and luella are in love..they are sohappy to just disappear and play together happily for hours.
Ginger - how cute!!
We're not doing a party theme. K isn't into ITNG or anything like that. Also we're not having a party as such, just going to the IL's for an overcooked baked dinner......
PAP - how are your IL's going?
Clare - I hadn't realised the rally was next week, enjoy yourselves!! Ouch to the migraine!
Fathers Day - DH said he didn't want anything so he is just getting a card (like Mother's Day). Our usual Sunday breakfast spot reopens this weekend after being closed for August so we will probably go there unless he has some other request.
Arte - need to see photos of that cake!!
:o crazy crazy computer...
OMFlippinGawd Arte you're not expecting TWINS are you :o?????!!!!! We didn't see that one coming LOL:
Finally had some time today to paint the babies bookcases
Clare glad you managed to conquer that meeeegraine. Sounds awful awful awful.
Rainy your rabbit and teddy sound great! Your party will be a blast with all those activities!
Arte, for Father's Day we are going to the Show, so not doing any brunches or lunches or dinner. Seeing my dad the night before for tea, will give him a tray chocolate-ginger, mMmmmmm. DH - still undecided tho Missy E was put to work making a card at FDC this am! :) DD1 doesn't have any bright ideas but she seems to be fixated on nuts at the moment so we might buy a couple of charlesworth packets and DIY him a goodie basket.
Ok so well it looks like I'm the only nutcase going OTT for the party then . Well I've finally arrived back where we began, it's going to be ITNG - I found a sticker book and will use the stickers to make party hats, whistles, etc. Decorating with pink, yellow, orange & red (off upsy's frock) balloons, serviettes, etc, and we'll have a pin-the-blanket on IP game. Was going to ask the folks at hte ABC shop if they had any old promo posters or cutouts but chickened out cos the guy wasn't looking very happy. Need to go in and work my mojo LOL. Going to trim some gingerbread men down & ice them blue, do some tombliboo iced cupcakes, and I'm thinking about how I could make a little blue boat for them to play in out of a big box! Now all I need to is work out how to make a carousel for the cake...hmmm...or even one for the garden (based around the hillhoist???). Just thinking out loud.
md- all that INTG stuff sounds absolutely fantastic!
are the adults going to be drinking pinky ponk juice? ;)
LOL MD, there is definitely only one in there. That didn't look quite right when I was typing it. Be prepared for a heap of spelling mistakes and general mind fuzz: newborn madness + toddler that wakes twice each night = brain numb mummy
Does my memory serve me correctly that this time last year your DH was away on the overseas posting?
Yep Arte and the year before that he'd only been home a few weeks too. Whew kinda relieved about your singleton situation now :).
Ginger - yeah bring on the pinky ponk juice! LOL
Happy Birthday Logan!
(sorry I missed it yesterday)
Happy Birthday Logan! I hope you had a great day yesterday.
Arte, thanks for the measurement - it would be just the right size for the girls so it might have to be a school holidays project me thinks.
MD yes you are the only one going OTT with the party  but you totally deserve to have a big, fun family thing for her this year. Great thinking 99 about getting old promo posters - I hope he's in a better mood when you go back LOL. We did the show on Wednesday and then there's another one near us on the 19th that we will go to. So expensive these days though isn't it?
Clare, I hope it's not going to be an annual thing then! Do you watch good news week at all? A few weeks back Shaun did a thing on GNW and Josh was on and he said it was like having his father crash a party ROFL the video of it's here TEN Video Player: Watch Full Episodes and Exclusive Video Interviews it's hilarious.
G sounds like you've got the party all sorted. Definitely keep working on him about the pony - our friends are polar opposites - she loves horses and he love horsepower so she got her DD a horse for pony club because he wanted a new road bike LOL.
PP, I have booked a motel at Kingston, so let me know which cafe you want to meet at and we'll go from there. I can't belive its only a week away now!
I feel like I'm never home ATM - I have been out everyday bar monday this week and have little A's on today, then back to town to pick LIndsay up from the sleepover he's having tonight. So busy! Then I have sunday and monday at home before Alisters paed appt on tuesday.
Happy Birthday to Logan for Yesterday and hope he had a awesome day
hey everyone,
been a busy house here.. we thought dd and i had food poisoning but now my friends little boy whos staying here has started vomiting too n even tho he ate from the same place its not likely it wld take a few days like that so prob a tummy bug.. gosh im freaking out Billy will catch it :( on the up side ashas slowly getting better which is a relief coz really im still adjusting to looking after the 2 of them!!

Noni that's great he's doing so well now hun.
I forgot fathers day - we aren't doing anything as the weekend was up in the air a bit as DH had a fire brigade driving course on for the whole weekend and he was going to have to camp out, so we didn't have anything planned for Sunday, but we might do something now as the course was cancelled.
hi girls!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOGAN!
hope you had a gorgeous day and got to open loads of fun pressies...nothing like the sweet tune of paper ripping!
PP: not sure that we will have squidloads of time to meet up...DH has decided that he needs to be at work on tuesday...ppppfffft. but ANYWAY, we are planning on getting to canberra in the pm of Sunday, having brekkie with the BB girls...hint hint ;) on the monday at rydges...and then head off to the rally at 11.30....it all finishes up around 2.30pm and THEN DH decided that we will be chipper enough to jump in the car and drive all the way back to melbourne. i have guaged the travel time with pitstops to show that we will get home close to MIDNIGHT :o
not happy jan.
Arte: ha ha ha ha! i only just made the connection that you are having another sept bub! deerrrrr i am sooo slow LOL!
i wonder if JordieC has had her bub yet?
MD: oh geez, yeah, one year ago and your DH was so far away! it seems so long ago...
Sherie: yeah Fathers day here is not so well planned. i am *hoping* to do the city slicker childrens farm or something...get some much needed vit D if the weather permits. otherwise we will just do a big cook up brekkie and the pressie...DH wants an apron...yep, an APRON. how frikkin boring is that LOL?!!
so going to check out the video...have to do it at home as i am sure that my office mate will not find it humorous. egad.
Noni: oooh so jealous of your newborn cuddles! and woot woo on the weight gains. little beauty! how is Asha adjusting to Ws continued presence?
ok, so i MISSED the last part of TAYG...if he wasnt edward scissorhands who was he? i couldnt pick it! i just went with Josh, because, well it's Josh.
AFM: okish here. have had a niggling headcold for 2 weeks now and am officially tired of it. i think it is the kindy lurgy so no doubt will just fester for years LOL!
we are very close to buying the tix to italy! almost convinced DH of the importance of timing. but alas, like most italians time is subjective. he wants to leave in 15 days time...argghhhh he is going to send me crazy!
hi all

Clare - oh damn, i was hoping for a meet up!!! i will see if i can pop to rydges but i have plans mon morning so not sure how we will go... if not pls let me know if you end up staying longer... i will pm you my mobile no. maybe yo uhave to rush back to pack for italy! how exciting... how long will you go for?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RENEE hope you have a great day
Anyone have any advice on looking after a sick 1mth old?? Now he's vomiting too and its the whole feed.. He's not a vomity baby at all usually im really worried coz both the kids here have been vomiting a lot and now he is.. Do I keep feeding him even tho he vomits it just like u do with reflux? Should I give him water? God im hopeless!!
Noni- I would probally keep feeding him as normal but def go to the dr
hi everyone
i've tried to catch up on the last couple of pages.
md - sounds like you're having a great time organising Miss E's celebration - sounds fantastic. Did you find some blue lollies for the cake? Make sure you post some pics of your creations.
clare - going to Italy sounds fabulous - seems you wont' have to wait long to go though!
noni - hope W gets better soon - it's not nice when the poor little things are sick.
pap - you just reminded me that i bought a similar book for Father's Day - i'd better put it with the other presents.
Ginger - your party sounds pretty spectacular as well. Make sure you take plenty of pics.
arte - i get excited every time i read your countdown on Fb. Are you a little nervous or just incredibly excited?? Have to say that I really enjoy reading about all the funny things W says and does. He must keep you laughing all day.
I'm having a cranky week - way too many colours and preservatives in the party food we consumed over the weekend and the beginning of this week. I'm thinking of trying the Failsafe diet. I complain about the effect additves etc has on the girls, but it makes me go a little crazy too.
hello to all you other lovely yummy mummies as well. :)
Happy Birthday Logan (for yesterday)!!! Have been reading back thru last year's September thread and cracked myself when we got to the bit where someone (not mentioning any names ) started a premature happy-birthday-Logan-wishing-spree PMSL!! Anyway hope you had a lovely day, gorgeous little man!
Also happy birthday to Renee, if she's out and about!!
Noni, I would err on the side of caution and take him to the GP to check. Just cos he's still so little. and i hope everyone's feeling better soon.
***NEWSFLASH*** DD1 and I made an unscheduled stop for Ikea meatballs today :) and of course the 2010 catalogue is out. They ran out of little saucepan sets (what we went for) but while I was there I discovered they have these very cute & compact little kitchens for $199...sturdy & inoffensive. So you might want to check them out Pregpan!
BTW I suggest Clare you push your trip forward by a day and gatecrash Pregpan's Bill-Grainger brunch. YUM I want to be a dad LOL.
While I was there we picked up some flower & heart icecube trays - especially for the pinky ponk juice Ginger LOL.
Sorry I must be so much older than you young chickadees :p. It was Robert Smith from The Cure (not Ed Scissy) and they had The Cure music playing as he came out onto the stage!
Well DD1 had a student-free day today and we made use of our free movie tickets to see Coraline in 3D! Awesome movie - bit scary for the younger players - but so clever and pretty wild in 3D (have never seen a 3D movie before)! Also we took the opportunity to browse thru the little-girl frocks at Myer - there are some gorgeous little numbers in there - bit too summery for the weather just yet which is a pity cos Missy E is in desperate need of a new party frock. Hmmm might need to get clever with a tshirt and tights and a pretty little cardy instead...BTW I was devasted when I noticed that Sprout finishes at size 2 :( but then I realised how much bigger and more fantabulous the size 3-8 section is and I was happy again :).
ikea meatballs - yummo!!!!
the Milkshake brand at Myer has some lovely clothes - and not too pricey either.
i LOOOOvve the 3-8 section in Myer- that's where we spend all our time nowadays.....unless i sneak something in there for j ;)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORGEOUS LOGAN!!!!!!
have a great day everyone!
ps....shophouse have new spring oobi range online ;)
Baby girl, Amelia Hazel, 8lb 4. 6 hour labour, out with one push. bbl, need a nap

HAVENT READ EVERYTHING BUT.....
CONGRATULATIONS GORGEOUS ARTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you are doing well... and enjoying Amelia! Cant wait to hear all about her. Lots of love xxxxxx
Woooooooohooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! Congratulations Arte, Mr Arte and William on the birth of Amelia Hazel!!!!
How exciting, and such a beautiful name.
Can't wait to hear more :)
OMG Arte!!!!!! You sure did keep that to yourself!!!!! Congratulations to you all and welcome to little Amelia. I bet William is just smitten with her. Rest up and enjoy your babymoon and I can't wait to hear all about it.
Congratulations dear friend on the safe and happy arrival of little Amelia Hazel - gorgeous name for a gorgeous little girl. :happyforyou: Can't wait to hear all about it, and I can't wait to hear what W has to say about his new little baby sister! :D :D :D
CONGRATULATIONS ARTE!!!!
sounds like you both did a magnificent job! welcome to the world little Amelia!
hi everyone
well after the ecitement of Arte's announcement - i now have time to read the posts...
Noni - if it were me i would take himto the gp to be sure. though i bet they say it is gastro and cat diagnose any further than that without a sample... anyway when N had his forst bout he was about 7 mnths i think, so older than W but still baby... i used to feed him after a vomit (though i was bf so i dont know) - he would sometimes keep it down, i thin kthe trick was to do small amt often. i thinkw ith formula too you maybe do it less strong (i know the dr told us this later when N had gastro again, like at 10 months - but you should check this bc he is so little). i dont know re water and things like pedialyte - check with dr maybe? you are looking to make sure he isnt dehydtaed - so at least a damp nappy every 4-6 hrs. maybe use a liner just so yu are sure - saves some worry... also be prepared if he has gastro he will lose a little weight - dont worry he will gainit when he is back to normal. how is everyone else holding up?
Clare - i wont make it to the bfast - so let me know if you do end up with a spare hour at any other time.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!
WOO HOO!!!
What an absolutely beautiful name- Amelia Hazel is absolutely divine. i love it!!!!
so happy for you arte.....oh i'm clucky now.....i want a pretty liitle girl too!!
wow, it's completely made my day. well done gorgeous :)
Congratulations Arte!!! I am over the moon for you! Awww a little girl, worked out perfectly. Cant wait to hear what W thinks of his new baby sister. xox
Art- Congratulations to Art and Mr Art and William on the birth of your new daughter and sister.....woohooo I am soooooo happy for you
Thank you everyone. It was an absolute dream birth, couldn't have asked for any better. Labour didn't even hurt that much until the last few contractions, then she was out before the midwife could even get her gloves on lol. We were home within 3 hours of the birth which was great. William is adjusting, he was getting very upset every time she cried but we had a talk about it and he seems to be coping better now.
There are a couple of pics up on Facebook. She actually has hair!!!
