Sterla - just thought I'd mention what I found helpful with the cradle hold which I couldn't use until week three without holding my boob away from his nose was to not hold Oliver so close to me, that tummy to tummy was all good in theory but didn't work for us so I just positioned him so his nose & mouth sat in a natural way while lining up with my nipple / breast.
Shelly - we have the same issue with Olivers clothes, I can't believe after they have been through the wash some of his 000's will be put away :-( they grow way to fast. Make sure you don't stress about your supply. As long as your little man is thriving it doesn't matter how he's fed.
HI Everyone!
Hope you are all going well!
Things are going really well here, i cant complain at all. Ethan is sleeping really well - some nights we are 6-7 hours overnight which is great, eating well and and is generally a happy little bub.
Im sure the great sleeping will change - but i will enjoy it and be thankful for it while i can :)
We are having one unsettled period every day or so , where he is restless for about an hour or so then he will settle down. Luckily this is normally at about 6pm, not overnight!
Shelly, we are having the opposite problem with Ethans clothes, all his cute outfits are 000 or bigger - but he is still in 0000 - which are still big on him. He is putting on weight nicely though which is good.
Heading in to my work tomorrow to show him off for the second time - but this will be my first adventure on my own with him - DH will be at home in case i need him!
Thankfully i have him home for another few weeks yet - so we are able to share the load on everything - im sure it will be different when he goes back to work - after being here with us for 7 weeks.
I cant believe how quickly time has gone - he will be 4 weeks tomorrow, my first mothers day has been and gone, and we now have ourselves in a little routine! Hopefully it slows down a bit - or I need to keep reminding myself to take in every precious moment - i now understand when people say time flys!
How is everyone else going?
Sah
Oh wow! Are you breastfeeding her?? :o
Jacob is the same, between 8pm-10pm no matter what we try, nothing helps. How do you manage Bree? Last night i put J in his capsule (he always falls asleep in the car) and he nodded off after only 5 mins, and was then able to move him to his cot! will try that again tonight!
Had my last appointment with my midwife Anna today. Finally had Adele weighed... She is now 4.27kg, so has gained 420g since birth (15 days). Gotta be happy with that! :)
Hi ladies I was supposed to be in the may thread but my little princess came on the royal wedding day lol (29/4) at the time they were getting married (8.57pm) so thought i'd better pop my head in and ask if I can join you lovely ladies in here? I will come back later and acquaint myself with who is here :)
Hi Kim, great to have you in our thread!
Welcome KimB! :)
Welcome kimB! :)
Jacob was weighed today, 4.5kg so he has put on 1kg in 4 weeks. Has also grown 2cm since birth, nearly out of 000 so trying to make sure he wears all the 000 outfits he has been given!
Also, having some luck with the BF, after nearly giving up. J is now accepting the boob on occasion!
KimB: How cool that your bub was born while the royal wedding was on!
Shell: That's an awesome gain - sounds like Jacob is really thriving! Fantastic news that Jacob is accepting boob sometimes too :).
AFM: Adele is going well - I'm pretty sure I can tell she's chubbing up even more than she already was!
Milk pimples have hit here too which is a shame. I'm hoping they disappear soon, they don't look very nice.
Jacob is back to refusing the boob again, oh well, will keep offering then expressing.
Any bubs losing their hair yet?
Shell: That must hard to deal with . You're doing such a great job to keep persevering!
How is everyone else doing?
Hiya everyone, finally got an opportunity to reply to everyone, yay!
Sahbear – lucky you getting 6-7 hours overnight, I can only dream I get that again one day! Great to hear you’ve got yourself a bit of a routine going, I am hoping we sort ourselves in to one some time soon as well.
Shelly – kody seems to have a bit of a whinge between 8 and 10 also, must be something in the air that time of the night too, I think he may have a bit of a wind build up though, could that be the problem with Jacob as well? Sorry to hear that Jacob is refusing again, I can’t remember if you said you’d already seen a lactation consultant? Kody hasn’t lost any of his hair yet but I remember Jake did at this age.
Sterla – way to go on the weight gain, you’re doing a fantastic job!
Leesa – I can’t believe how big your bubba girl is already! Those pics of Bree are just gorgeous, was the photographer expensive? I would love to see you too, and Miss M and Mr B are more than welcome to visit as well :)
Hi to everyone else, hope all is well.
We’re having a few sleep issues here at the moment, Kody has decided he won’t sleep anywhere but on mine or DH’s chest. It started when I was in hospital after the c/s, I’d have him sleep on my chest as I was physically unable to get out of bed the first day or so to get to him, and the nurses would take a little while to respond when I rang for them to come and give him to me, so I slept him on me. Unfortunately I’ve created a bit of a problem for myself. He is also a very light and fidgety sleeper, and wakes every 20 mins or so and it’s a 50/50 chance of whether he’ll put himself back to sleep or need assistance. I’m slowly getting him to sleep in his cot during the day, and will start trying at night time as well, but it’sreally taking it’s toll and I’m probably only averaging 3 hours sleep per night and even then it’s not a deep sleep as I have Kody with me the whole time. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get him to sleep on his own they’d be greatly appreciated!
Other than that I’m very lucky to say that feeding is going fantastically apart from the fact he’s a very hungry boy and feeds every 2 or so hours. Haven’t weighed him since last week, so 3 weeks old, and he’d put on 720g which my midwife said was a fantastic gain so I must be doing something right!
Anyway, take care everyone xxx
Yay! Finally got time to hop on the PC and do some real personals (have been on the phone mostly whilst expressing, convenient but restricted functionality)
Jaycee - nah dont think its wind cos we wind him quite well before we put him down, he just wants cuddles cos as soon as I pick him up he goes quiet, the crafty little monkey! :) Sounds like Kody enjoys his cuddles too LOL hope he gets used to sleeping in his cot soon so you can get some much needed sleep! And nice weight gain too!
Sahbear – wow! getting 6-7 hours overnight is awesome! Does Ethan have a middle name?
Sterla - gotta love milk pimples! good to hear Adele is thriving, must be top notch milk! hehe. thanks for the reassurance. am really really tempted to chuck it in but will try and keep going until my sister arrives from the GC on Monday night, as she's a real advocate. Just think bub has gotten used to the nice easy teat and dislikes having to work for it on the nipple.
Leesa - sounds like your little girl is thriving, well done! Good on ya for getting some photos done, its so exciting seeing the results, and you have Bree captured as a newborn for ever :)
Hi to everyone else! Am sure you're reading but haven't yet had a minute spare to post. It's OK we know exactly how it is! :D
AFM: looking forward to my sister arriving on Monday night, she is staying for a week eith with us or mum n dad. Not looking forward to DH going back to work on Tuesday, but at least i'll have sis here. DH has been fabulous taking care of the early morning feeds, I stay up til midnight while he gets an early night, then we switch over at 1am. Recently he has been letting me have a sleep in until 8am but this will stop when he goes back to work as he leaves at 6am.
OMG... I had a big glass of red wine last night (ok maybe two!), and when I expressed this morning my milk was pink!!! Still pink at midday too, so those batches went down the sink LOL. Will def not be drinking whilst b/f!
Hmmm milk still pink. Have narrowed it down to the left side only, so am now thinking it's blood. Maybe I have a broken capillary somewhere (from massaging before expressing) cos my nipples feel fine.
Shelly, I'd give the aba a call and see what they think
