    New thread

Thanks DB I was asking because I have a friend pg with her first bub, she's 34 weeks and pretty leaky already. My boobs just don't do well at expressing. She watched me pump last night and said if that's how long it took she wouldn't have the patience. I pumped for 10 minutes, it was right after a small fed feed, but only got about 20ml. The most I ever got in one 20min pump session with DS3 was 60ml! They get it flowing so fast when they feed they choke, but take the baby away and replace with a pump and my boobs don't cooperate Anyway I was telling my friend I thought she'd be ok because she's so leaky, I hardly leak at all. So maybe my theory is right, the leakier you are the easier you can express

Lol. The Medela pump has a quick action for two mins first to get the let down of milk and then it automatically goes to a slow longer sucking motion. I am still having problems with engorgement. It hurts and feels as though my boobs are disfigured. I pump twice a day at work and get 400-500mL. Logan is a big boy so maybe my milk supply adjust for his needs I'd say. He's 2 months and over 8kg. Big beautiful boy. He's been in 00's for a couple of weeks now.

Wow DB he is a big boy. Zoe's just grown into 00 due to her length.

Willow- i have a first years pump. it does ok but wish I never sold my medela swing after dd3. It takes about 5 mins though to trigger a let down if i pump after a feed, but if i do for engorgement it works pretty quick.

Miss Z is 3 months old tomorrow/13 weeks!!!

He does sound like a big boy DB We are just going into OOs the last week. Haven't done a weigh since the 8 week check, I'm on the look out for some cheap second hand scales for home. It's been too cold to go out for a weigh especially when she's been sick.
It was a Medela I was using with DS3, I borrowed it from my sister. I've just bought a Unimom hospital grade pump. It doesn't have the let down action first up so I was worried it might not work at all for me but it didn't seem to make a difference. It's really quiet too which is nice. I'm going to have to try to have it ready to go for a 4am pump when I'm at my fullest to see if I can get a better amount or it's going to take weeks to get even one feed! I don't really get a chance through the day to pump anyway because you can't put Georgia down for more than 5 minutes before she screams the house down.

I think it probably took close to 5mins for a let down last night too, but then it still only dribbles out. So frustrating when Georgia starts to feed, can't keep up with the flow then pulls off to catch her breath and there's a continuous stream of milk squirting everywhere lol I know it's there and can flow really fast, but it appears my boobs are pump shy

13 weeks! I can't believe how fast the time has gone!!

We are onto our third cold now DS has bought yet another one home from pre-school. Poor Georgia has shared every one with him. This one has a nasty cough. Sort of a bark through the day then worse at night, and as soon as DS lays down it starts with the coughing fits and tonight he has started throwing up with them I hope Georgia doesn't get it that bad
DS has been on probiotics and I've just gone and got some more olive leaf extract. It has been a challenge to get him to drink it, but he's been very brave this morning and last night and taken it. He's done very well because it is the most disgusting stuff I've ever tasted! I'm glad it's holidays now I'm going to cut out sugar, keep up the probiotics and OLE, chuck in some Floradix and vitC and hopefully have his little system boosted right up before school goes back!

BD1 hasn't had a sniffle this season yet. She doesn't go to childcare yet though so that's probably got a lot to do with it. She did lick the trolley at the supermarket today though - much to my disgust. That's just yuck. She smiled the whole time. Ewww....

Willow - your pump-shy boobies are hilarious. I have to have that supply up for work. Lots of water.

The milk is there DB it just doesn't flow for the pump I need to get a stash up though as my friend has asked me to be her support person when she has her baby so I need feeds for Georgia while I'm at the hospital. I also hope Georgia will take a bottle! DS never would.

Try googling ways to get that milk out of there. Lol. I am far from an expert. I'm Mrs Leaky boobs and have no idea how to control it.

LOL DB Georgia just had a feed, it was a fast flow and she pulled of at the same time she pushed my boob with her hand and squirted milk all over the laptop Funny but frustrating. I think it would be cruel to get her to start it off then swap her for the pump

Yeah that would be a bit rough. Logan wouldn't be happy of I tried that.

Do you know ladies, that we are currently in the same month that our little babies were conceived in! This time a year ago we were getting pregnant or soon to be/finding out we were pregnant!! Crazy!!

I read and lurk, I dont have alot to say really. Wilder is doing well, over the 5kg mark which is double his birth weight. I still worry he isnt as big as he should be but considering how small he was born he is doing well really. Still sleeping all night so Im crossing my fingers that its not going to change! Drooling a lot too so I think we are entering the teething stage. He is such a smiley happy baby. I even got our first giggle tonight - laughing at me being stupid ofcourse

While Im here Willow - off topic but I have both my 5 & 6 year olds in Infa Vario's. I discovered the other day that their shoulders are above the highest shoulder line on the seat with the headrest extended (they are big lads!). Im in a bit of a tizzy because there is nowhere to go after this and Im having to sit them in adult belts with no boosters They are 130cms tall and Mr 5 is at the 26kg mark. Mr 6 is 7 in 2 months time - so really they're both at the legal point where they can sit in a normal seat. They just seem so..............unsecured now. Just wondering, as a fellow car seat safety maniac, what you would do in my position?

Freya - I hadn't realised that it was this time a year ago. That actually made me a bit teary knowing Logan is my last pregnancy. I'm trying to soak up every second with him. It really is sad thinking about having that side of life over with. DH hinted at having another. I always wanted four children but I'm getting close to 40 now and feeling I should be grateful for two healthy and happy babies. Especially after two emergency c sections too. If I was in my early 30's I'd definitely be keen on the idea. I'll look forward to raising my two now. One year ago I remember feeling amazingly lucky. We were so fortunate to have one after many miscarriages and a long time trying so to have another is perfect.

Car seats - my Logan is a long and solid boy. He's 10 weeks old and over 8kg. He already is making the capsule look tiny. I want him in his capsule as long as possible.

Your boys are very tall for their ages, Freya. It's a shame there aren't any options out there for them. I do believe the Australian standards need an overhaul.

Freya the new Infa Comfi Caprice convertible boosters have shoulder markers of 520mm, the Varios are 470mm. If you could afford it they may be an option. Do you know their seated height? You know torso, bum to shoulders I think the SnS Maxi Rider Easy Adjusts are quite generous too, but they cost an arm and I leg I think, Infas are more reasonably priced. Sorry for my extreme mush brain today too but don't they need to be in a booster until 7 now, or did I dream that? I know they need to be harnessed until 4 and thought booster until 7, or maybe that is what the next change will be. I'll have a check.

    Thanks Willow.

She has been easier to put to sleep as well lately. Still wont sleep in her bassinet but I have just brought a cot and plan on leaving one side off and securing it to my bed and work on moving her over

Maybe it was all just colic and we are heading out if the other side as she is 3 months.

She is blowing raspberries and giggling. It's amazing to watch.
