Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I broke the golden rule (if sleep is going well, don't talk about it!). Just chilling with dd2, who is trying to show me she isn't tired. DD1 has also come in, and is at the foot end of my bed.
Yay for boobs, Candy! Awesome work.
How are you and your little boy Starry?

Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I wish we could UN-confuse night & day. I'm sitting here with a wide awake, smiling baby.... Cute but frustrating.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Candy try getting bub into the sunlight ASAP in the morning. Also keep the blinds open for day naps. Once they are a month old they will start sorting it out.
Sorry to everyone on FB but I deleted the app from my phone to have a break. I was getting ridiculous about checking it every hour!
Ds is growing well and is into 00 already! He is smiling more and is really just delightful! We still have an unsettled two hours in the evening, but I've found having a shower with him helps.
I will try and catch up on everyone's news soon!!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I'm doing the sunlight / blinds / bright noisy house things. His dad is nocturnal, in blaming genetics!
Wow, 00! Awesome about the showers! Keep enjoying your bubba.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I got a new phone and got the fb app and then deleted it. Tossing up whether to put it on again or leave it off. Maybe for lent? The notification get addictive and interfere with life.
My older kids are definite night owls and I blame their dad!
Candy can you wake him more often during the day. ? Also try fresh air when he wakes during the day.
Why do older kids want to kiss hug baby when they just go to sleep? And then crack it when you say no?

Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
DS is really good when it comes to day/night luckily.
I can't wait to have him weighed on Friday, it's been a month since he's been weighed & I'm very curious how he's going especially given his reflux.
I agree FB is addictive but I'm too addicted to give it up lol.
I really wish I could go to the gym, so jealous! I don't even know how I'd find the time even if they did have child care.
We had a BBQ tea at the park the other night with my sisters and their kids and one if my sisters is an alcoholic - she was holding DS and asked if she could take him down to the water. I felt bad but said no - used the excuse that it was too cold (which was true) but I just didn't trust her holding him drunk. That's fair enough isn't it??
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Have to admit, I avoid FB, hence nit joining the group. Lent is a good idea. Hoti - doing that too. Im just going to keep blaming DP :) DS1 does the same thing with hugging etc.
Let us know how he goes faye! As fir the gym, I put the capsule or pram beside whichever equipment I'm using. I don't have a creche at the gym I prefer to train at. Time around uni / school runs / DS2 is tough, but it's important to me for my sanity. I think you did the right thing with your sister. In impressed you let her hold him.

Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Hi! I must apologise, I've only been posting on FB recently. Just read and caught up (as much as I think I can take in lol).
Candy were you at the fitx in Melbourne? My friend Tennille won. She looked amazing!!! As did the other girls.
My little miss is doing well, had her 6-8 week check yesterday and she's put on another 500g, and is sitting consistently on the 50th percentile. I'll try to get back on bb to check in with you all more often :D
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Sure was lee bee. We took DS2 down to meet my idol, Dana Linn Bailey :) I watched the IFBB. Which division did she compete in? I was so happy to see Janet Kane take out the physique! So glad to hear little miss is doing so well, keep it up :)

Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Hi candy, glad to hear all is well.
Things are great here. We have days and nights mixed up here too. I'm not sure if I want to try to fix it though... I think I'd prefer to have time during the day to get things done.
Wow, great work getting back to the gym! I'm lucky if I can squeeze a walk in 3 times a week. Lol. I'm just getting back into healthy eating and exercise now. 2 years ago I practiced clean eating, ran 10kms 5 times a week and was a size 6-8... Now I am unfit and 20 kilos heavier :(
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Rose, kids are the best excuse to train, and the biggest barrier to training, all at once! I'm sure you'll get back there eventually. Keep trucking along!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
My weight is slowly dropping off, trying to go for walks & eat healthy but I do have bad days still. Time to get serious I think as I still have 10kg to go!
DS has his needles tomorrow :(
We've just been to a birthing class reunion/baby show & tell at the hospital. Only 3 couples showed up including us! Oh well...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
DS went well with his needles today - had a bit of a scream but settled very quickly. I think I cried more than he did! He's going so well on his weight gain - now weighs 5.350kg so has gained 1.090kg in the last 4 weeks :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
what age are your bubs now who are getting needles?
dd2 doing well, she has the newborn rash ;( on her face, so looking forward to that going again. i love her smell.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
DS is exactly 2 months today
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Felix will be 8 weeks on the day.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I think the immunisations might have made DS extra sleepy... Fed at 8:30pm last night & slept till 4am & then slept till 8:30am. Stayed up & played until 9:45am & then slept until 1pm!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
hi girls :)
finally! I am on my lappy again!
DS2 finally has a name, lol, only took us 4 weeks... Arlo Sebastian. (well.. took me 4 weeks to convince DF to agree!! )
Arlo is HUGE, as of yesterday he is in 00's now, think I will need to go up to the next size sposies soon (he was out of NB's at a week)
BFing is going well, he doesn't feed anywhere near as much as DS1 did. He actually sleeps at night too! I think this is due to the nurses at neonates making him scream to be fed 4 hourly.... grrr..he sure makes up the feeds during the day though..
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Good to hear from you Starry! Glad Arlo is going well & love the name!!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
So... I just had Arlos 6 week check...he now weighs 14.3 KILOS!! He is a buddha baby lol.
Im still bleeding...doc has requested me to go hsve an us to check for infection or retained placenta... arghhh.

14.3 ? is that a typo?
i stopped bleeding around 6 weeks. I got an energy boost when it finally stopped.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Nope no typo..the doctor did it 3 times to be sure. I posted it on fb and everyone is freaking out..lol..im going to walk down to the local cyh and weigh him myself just to be sure...
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
wow! i wonder if the scales were set to pounds instead of kilos. 14.3 pounds = 6.5kg, which is still big, but not excessive. i don't think my 2 yr old has reached 14 kg yet, and he is not little. i would reweigh too.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I love the name Arlo, I taught an Arlo, he was such a lovely boy. How much did he weigh when he was born? How many weeks ago was he born? I bled for the full 6 weeks this time, rather frustrating. Tapered off to really light coloured at 6 weeks and completely gone by 7. Is your loss still heavy? I hope it's all ok and just a longer loss time.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I think HotI's right about pounds vs kilos lol. Still he's obviously had a good weight gain so well done :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Looks like the silly doc had the scales set on pounds...I only glanced at the number so didn't take any notice..he is around 6.5kg I jist chucked him on in his clothes so subtracted a bit... gah silly woman has written it all in his book and put it all on his charts etc...
Leebee, have apt tomorrow, bleeding ids not heaps heavy but I started having cramps the other night then the next morning passed a big clot, then the bleeding increased and was very different in consistency...ughh would be nice if it would just stop
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Still a good weight Starry!! DD was just under 5kg at 6 weeks, and she started at 4.48 kg.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Good weight gain Starry :) glad he's not 14 kg!!
I hope the bleeding is nothing serious and that it stops soon.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Ok, random question but do you change bubs nappy during a dream or night feed? DD2 wears cloth during the day & top shelf disposables at night. Some nights she will sleep from 10-5/6am so I know the nappy won't leak & she never poos during the night so on the odd occasion (like now) that she wakes could I feed her without changing & waking her up completely? Usually with a night feed it's her stirring that wakes me & she never opens her eyes unless I change her bum
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I use disposable at night, and don't change unless there is poo (which is rare).
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I didn't end up changing her & she had a feed & was back in bed within 40mins. Not sure if she fed properly though because she was wriggling a lot & is awake again only 3hrs later. Something to think about though. :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
I change DS's nappy before each feed, if I don't he wets through his clothes. Every time. Lol. It doesn't usually wake him up completely, but if it does, he falls asleep on the boob when I feed him anyway, so it's no big deal :)
Candy how are you going with days/nights now? Felix finally got the idea at around 9 weeks. Lol. I didn't do anything, he just all of a sudden started sleeping from 6.30pm-7am (with 3 feeds in between)
We finally have a routine that is making life so much easier!
We get up around 7-7.30, I have a green smoothie while I make breakfast for DH & pack his work lunch- ds plays on the play may whilst I do that. Ds then sleeps from 8.30-11, sometimes I do too! 60 minute walk after a feed, then we just feed, play & catnap until 5pm, bath time, play & sleep at 6.30.
It's so good to be finally getting some sleep!!! I feel human again :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Missed this conversation as I haven't been able to get onto here on my phone for ages... I don't change nappy during a dream feed (10-11pm) but when he wakes for a feed through the night I do change it before I feed him.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
How is everyone surviving? Aleksander is 13 weeks and 7kg now! He's already 70cm+ long!! Little porker :) I've made it to 13 weeks exclusively breastfeeding too. Never, ever thought I'd get to celebrate that milestone. He's currently still waking approx midnight, 3am and 6am, but I'm willing to wear that as he eats and then straight back to bed. Although unlike Faye, I feed and then change him, that way he sleeps through the nappy change.
We are also hitting that stage where he is getting distracted during boobie time. Get messy when he laughs at his brother with a mouthful of milk!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Hi Candy :) Wow, 7kg! He's a happy eater by the sounds of it, well done!
Some of us natter away on FB & we've noticed the girls in the group seem to have lower weight gains than the boys.
Well done with the feeding. I ended up having to give formula at night as my poor boobs couldn't cope but I'm rapt that I've managed to BF up til now (12wks) I take it 1 week at a time now which is an improvement on 1 day at a time.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Wow candy what a big healthy boy you have! Congrats on the BF :)
We also have the issue of getting distracted during feeding - it's messy and frustrating but also quite funny! I love when he looks at me with a big cheesy grin during feeding :)
DS is going well too, has his 4 mth check and immunisations on Wed. I'm very curious to see how his weight gain is going... Pretty confident there's no issues on that front - he feeds well and is a little chubba :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Just checking in to see how Starry and candy are going???
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Hi Faye! Still alive. Aleksander is huge already. We have rolling, giggling and. Being evil down to an art.
How are you getting on?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Good to hear candy :)
We have giggles but he's only rolled once so must have been a fluke lol!
Have been struggling at night waking 3-4 times which has been tiring & he's also teething! Hoping they cut through soon so he has some relief.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ February 2014
Yup, Aleksander still wakes 3-4 times a night. Eats then goes back to bed. No teeth coming though!
I don't think the roll was a fluke Faye. Your boy is just testing your patience :)
