Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
walking already, cinder... wow. soon you will have 2 little ones running around. :)
how is everyone? we are going ok, still not sleeping that great through the night. little one has a sniffle atm too, so woke up 4 times before 9.30pm last night. poor little guy. he is starting to get frustrated again, so I think he will be properly crawling any day now, he is just commando crawling atm. he loves to be on his feet though, but my back cant keep up with him. we have a bday party this Saturday night, first time I will have left him & im not looking forward to it. still haven't decided if I will actually go. definitely wont if he's still got his sniffle. I don't want to leave him but feel I should make an effort. hope everyone is going ok. xx
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Andie, how is your little man doing? I heard at this age they have around 9 colds a year! :o That sucks about the night wakings, does he go back to sleep quickly or is he fully waking and crying?
Cinder, first step! I am dreading the walking! You will definitely have your hands full now.
How is everyone else, peeks? Vic?
Everything's going well here and I'm loving it. DD is so clever and cute, sleeps like a champ. She's standing holding onto things and can go one hand. She has taken both hands off twice now, but just wobbled for a couple of seconds and fallen on her bum  Our lounge room is now totally bare. Nothing on the tv unit, coffee table, side table. I have put boxes in front of the power switch that she can reach. Baby gate works magic to stop her getting into the kitchen :) I was going to buy her one of those walker things that they push along, but I'm not so sure I want to speed up the process!

Hi Girls
Jack is finally crawling. We are away at my mums place and he just started crawling properly yesterday. It was lovely my parents got to see it first hand too as they live away from us. Its still early days with the crawling but we will have to totally baby proof when we get home. We are pretty organised but need to put up a few more gates. Also, Easter Bunny bought Jack his first tooth. Such a cute and adorable age. He is sleeping through the night. I am back at work 4 days a week now and its a lot but we are coping. His daycare center is great and they listen to our needs. He has been pullling up and standing for such a long time we all thought he would just start walking.
Cinders - I cant believe bubs has taken a few steps. Gosh thats exciting.
Andie - sorry to hear your bubs has the sniffles and it not sleeping too well. I hope it improves quickly.
Tasha - its so lovely to hear your enjoying motherhood. Your dd sounds gorgeous.
Hi Peeks and everyone else.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
tasha - I hear you on not wanting to 'encourage' the walking... it sounds terrible to say doesn't it, but they will be unstoppable when they start walking! Having said that, we will be buying a walker thing too soon (something with a handle & wheels anyway). to answer your question, he goes to sleep straight away after night wakings (although not at 4am this morning... didn't go back to sleep till 5.30am... arghhhh!), after a boob. no crying. just grizzling if I try & resettle without a boob. I need to try something now, its one thing for me to be delirious but I think he's starting to get over tired from all the night wakings too. got little bags under his eyes today, poor little guy.
vic - crawling & a tooth - how sweet! he timed that very well & im sure your parents loved it. I was just saying to my mum the other day, I wonder if my little one will just walk instead of hands/knees crawling bc he just loves being on his feet. always standing whenever he can. he has done a couple of 'proper' crawls, like one or two movements, but then flops back down to his speedy commando crawl. :)
afm - little one is a bit better today, although now his cheeks are bright red so im assuming teeth again. seems in good spirits though. little trooper. going to try & setlle without a feed for one of his wakings tonight... which one - 9.30/10pm, 12.30/1am, 3.30/4am?! ;)
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Andie, dd fed at 10pm (dreamfeed) and then 3-4am. The 3-4am was first dropped around 4 months old. 10pm feed I dropped around 7 months. But in your case i'd start with the 12:30-1 feed and once thats dropped you can work on the 3-4am. I noticed a huge difference in dd once she was sleeping all night. She just became so happy and content during the day. ( maybe she gets that from me lol)
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Thanks, Tasha. I agree, I'm going to work on the 1am feed first. I tried last night, but he wasn't having any of it so I just fed him & we all went back to bed. I'm going to have to get a bit more sleep before I try again I think. I don't have the energy reserves to keep at it atm. :-/
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Andie are you co sleeping ?
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
no, I wish. I've tried, he doesn't like it/get it really. happier in his own bed, which is still in our room, next to our bed. ; )
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Wow, walking already! I bet both your girls will love playing together, Cinder :)
We still do the dream feed here, around 10:30pm, and Emily is still in our room too. I don't want my baby to grow up! :( DS2 still ends up on the floor beside my bed every night, and DS1 too on the odd occasion. Makes me wonder why we built a 4 bedroom house, when the 5 of us are all in the same room haha ;)
Emily has just started grinding her teeth! Woke up to the horrible sound of it this morning. She only has 4.5 teeth, so it's a wonder she even manages to grind them, but at 6:30 in the morning, it's not fun :wall: Apart from that she is just a delight to have around, I feel so blessed to have her in our lives. She's such a happy baby - 99% of the time ;) We are close to walking here too, like most of you we aren't encouraging it, but not discouraging it either, just letting her go at her own pace. My boys have always been rough play, get into everything, kick the footy in the house, touch everything... kinda kids!! So we don't really have nick-naks or anything breakable around! lol. We still have magnetic locks on the kitchen cupboard with the cleaning stuff from when they were younger, and they are on a couple of drawers in the kitchen too. We've got a safety gate across the entrance to the hallway to keep her out of the boys' bedrooms.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Peeks, so glad your little one is doing well :) Argh the grinding! It's awful isn't it?
Andie, do you use a dummy? If it had not been for dd having a dummy when she sleeps it would have been a lot harder to settle her overnight. Luckily for me she only has one for sleeps and doesn't want it any other time.
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
peeks, I might try doing the dream feed again too. although he is waking at 10/10.30pm atm anyway, so no need I guess! I am with you, I do not want my little baby to grow up... but then I love seeing him learn/do new things. he is like a little toddler already, looks so grown up in his little boy clothes. still gorgeous & perfect in every way of course. ;)
tasha - we don't use a dummy, but we did use it in the beginning at around 7-8 weeks to help settle. he had it randomly for a couple of weeks then decided he didn't want it. he sucks his fingers instead now, which is good bc it means he can comfort/settle himself sometimes. not sure whether its something I need to worry about later or not, but it works for now.
happy mothers day for tomorrow everyone. xx
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Happy Mother's Day ladies :)
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Thinking of presents and cakes and birthday ideas already :/
Can't believe it's not long until our bubs turn 1 !!!
Anyone have any thoughts on birthdays yet ?
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Oh so am I!, Can't believe I'm planning a 1st birthday already :) I'm doing a Hello Kitty cake!
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Thinking about it too... but not sure what to do. Probably just a family get together, some sort of cake. And trying not to be sad that my precious, sweet boy is approaching 1 year old. :-/
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
I have had our local gymnastics club booked out for months :) Being winter its a great space where the kids be feral and wear themselves out without trashing my house. Bubble guppies theme here. Its gone by so fast. I get clucky when I see newborns. I can see how people want more than 1baby:)
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
Oh Vic, I shudder when I see a newborn! It just reminds me of stressed out, no sleep, losing my mind depression :(
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #1
definitely clucky too, vic. although I need some sleep before I seriously start planning for another. I loved the newborn phase, such a special, fascinating, overwhelming time. : )
tasha - I reckon if you ever decided to have another, you might surprise yourself. you've managed to come out the other side of a really rough start to motherhood & now you have your happy, gorgeous little girl to remind you of how awesome it can be. on the other hand, you might struggle again but at least you know you survived it once, you can do it again! if ever you wanted to of course... ; )
