Babies Born ~ June 16th - 30th 2011 #1

wow bskilner!! 00??? I suppose theres a few weeks between our babies, but we just moved to 0000's this week!

Kaytee, I went to first mothers group yesterday. Didn't really enjoy it. DD cried through most of it, then poo'd through her nappy onto her white jumpsuit while I was introducing us to the group. I don't think I really learnt anything and everyone was really stand-offish. I actually felt out of place breast feeding as most others had bottles and formula on hand.

First day solo has ended up being today - mum dropped by both days. Electricity salesman had me in tears this afternoon though. I felt so trapped! He kept standing really close to me, then when I said I wasn't comfortable making any decisions by myself, he said he would come back later and wanted to know what time DP would be home. errrgghhhh made my skin crawl. He was also kind enough to point out that I wasn't wearing a wedding ring... Went out for a walk in the beautiful afternoon sun, so feeling a heap better, just hope he doesn't come back. DP is printing off a sign for the front door so it doesn't happen again.

doubletrouble - how many vaccs does she need done? We're due to go next week. Not sure how I'll go, its part of my job to listen to babies cry after being immunised, but I'm not sure how I'll go when its my own.

Harriet- while i enjoyed mothers group it didnt take long for me to feel outta place most of the other mums were closer to 30 (either side) where as i was 21, but my bestie went to MG and didnt return like you felt outta place
not wearing a wedding ring! big deal my bestie is married but i rarely see her wedding ring and she hasnt worn her engagment ring in ages! i HATE sales people too!
only just moving into 0000? whoa she must be tiny xoxo

hudson is sleeping through the night still, had a few bad nights but not many :D last night i had 10hrs!
he now weighs 4.15kg :D so his growing well still only putting on the min weight weekly but his happily settled :D
just moving into 000 bonds but PP 0000 is still nice and big but weve suddendly gone fropm chucky to SUPER CHUCKY
but i am loving our big smiles and loooooooong eye contact

Harriet - william is in the 95th percentile so a big bubba, he was 5.35kg at 5 weeks and 57.5cm tall. so he is my hungry little man. weighed him yesterday and he was 6.43kg with clothes on.

sorry to hear you had a rough day, and about the pushy salesman. i keep getting harrassed by telemarketers, have resorted to screening calls. my friend said she has the same and she just tells them shes bf and they get the hint. lol

my mg is good there are heaps of bf mothers and they are really friendly, i guess it depends totally on the others that show up.

Had an awful afternoon yesterday and wanted to send Hamish back. Was just over tired and in desperate need of some me time. So last night I had a bath, shaved my legs and dyed my hair. Hamish also slept from 10 - 5 so I felt much better today.

So far surviving my dh's first day back at work :)

William had his immunisations today, cried and then i put him on boob for feed and he calmed down. think he has sore legs though, as he cried whilst he was getting weighed at his appt. he has grown a lot in two weeks. stats are 6.35kg, 61cm tall, head circ 41.5cm. he is growing well and even lifted his upper body up on his elbows when on his tummy, my strong little man, had to show off the m&chn. but now he is sleeping, so hope he handles the immunisations well and doesnt have any adverse reactions.

Poor William :( Belley's got her immunisations on Thursday when she'll be 8 weeks old, I'm dreading it. He's growing so well Bskilner, and sounds like he's strong!

We had our first Mother's Group thing this morning, it was great. I can't believe there are so many babies around here! 13 mums & 14 babies (one set of twins). The best part is there are a few mums from our antenatal class, and one I get along with really well lives right nearby. It's funny though cos at nearly 4 months her DD is the oldest and Belley is almost the youngest. She was so well behaved - had a sleep, a feed, nappy change another feed then slept through the rest. Made playing on the ground and singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star a bit pointless for me lol.

I think she may be going through a growth spurt - she'll be into 00 in a couple of weeks I reckon, she's sleeping a bit more during the day and waking for feeds more at night. She used to go 6-7 hours, then 3-4. Now she's waking every 3-4 hours overnight and feeding a lot. She's not cranky or anything though, so that's good.

congrats on starting mothers group, we had 11 mums and bubs at ours. one of the mums at mine lives just around the corner so we have been catching up on the good days for walks together. and good luck with your immunisations on thursday.

Hey chicks. Sorry for lack of posting. Was having a bit of a BB break and don't have a whole lot of free time with 3 little ones.
P is off to the Osteo this arvo. Hoping to help her settle a bit better. She lives in my arms, close carrier or swing, I must admit, it's really hard having a baby like that with no DH around. I feel like I never get a break. But i know it's only for a short time, so I'll manage!!

She feeds 3 hourly round the clock. Dd1 slept 11 hours overnight from a very early age, I think about 3 weeks. Dd2 had reflux so was a shocking sleeper. I was hoping Dd3 would be like DD1, bit no suck luck so far! She cries in pain of an evening and often overnight. She arches her back and kicks her legs like something is hurting. I'm hoping the Osteo will help today, poor little Baby!

I must admit it is comforting to read f other unsettled bubs! Makes me feel less alone. :)

Hi Ladies,

We're off to the Paed tomorrow for Hamish's 8 wk checkup. Not looking forward to it really. He's been pretty good but he doesn't like to sleep on his own in the daytime. Will sleep with one of us in bed with him or if he's on the couch where we are. Night's he seems to think that 11pm is a good bedtime. Have had trouble with him screaming the place down and wanting to feed but when I put him to the breast he pulls back screaming. Last night I had to settle him with the dummy and then he finally went on the breast and fed himself to sleep at about 11. He then slept till 3.30 and then I fed him in bed and he slept there until 8.30 feeding at about 7 by just waking, looking for the boob and attaching himself. Is a bit funny to wake up with a baby attached to you :D

Anyway, hope everyone else gets a break at sometime. DH is on 5 days off now so I'm looking forward to some assistance.

Sophie is the same. plays peek-a-boo when shes sleeping to check somebody is still there and 11pm sleeper most nights.
I battle daily to get her to take a breastfeed over a bottle she also pulls off screaming, I seem to be fightimg a losing battle unfortunatly :wall: somedays are better than others and is mainly breast but then other days arent- yesterday was mainly bottle. I know the heat/humidity here doesnt help, i try start to feed when she looks even a little hungry. Sometimes feel Im always shoving my boobs in her face :lol:

DT- P had BCG (TB) last week too. Her little abscess has already healed. I'm pretty sure you won't have to get it done again..... Why do you think you may need to?

My little munchkin is feeling a lot more relaxed after visiting Osteo. Hopefully it helps long term.

JM there is nothing on her arm where the vacination was, but DH says it takes 41 days for the blister to come. Have you had a TB shot? I havent but thinking i probabaly should

interesting about the osteo. what did they do? glad bubs is feeling better

No DT. I haven't had TB vaccine. It is only about 50% effective in adults so I decided against it. It is about 98% effective when given as a newborn though. About 80% for toddlers. My older girls haven't had it, but taking them next week I think. Dd3 had a small sore but it has resolved. I wasn't expecting it to return.....

Osteo I saw does cranio-sacral osteopathy. It's a very gentle kind if treatment which basically looks like they are doing nothing, but it gets results!

william has been having 6.5hr between a feed of a night, but before he sleeps he has inconsolable crying for an hr, then once he sleeps he is better. so unhappy to have the screaming back but he must be realising that his body is going through a change or something.

Hey JM! I was going to PM you to see how you're doing, it's been a while :) Good to hear you're all doing well, hopefully your little one's reflux settles and you can get a bit more sleep soon, at least the osteo is helping.

Tara, Hamish sounds like Annabelle at the moment, though thankfully her bedtime is 10, not 11! Last night she just wouldn't go to sleep, so I passed her to DH, he tried walking around with her to get her to sleep, but the little bugger kept grinning at him and making cute little noises lol. So he had a little play, then she was finally ready to feed to sleep. Had to laugh at waking up with a baby attached to you!! That would be strange. Belley can't do that, I have to wear a singlet to bed to hold the breast pads in place, otherwise the bed gets soaked lol.

Good luck with his 8 week check today, Annabelle has hers too. I don't want her to have needles, I think I'll cry :(

DT, lol at playing peek-a-boo, Annabelle does that sometimes. And she has the best frowny-face for when she catches you trying to put her down lol.

With the bottle, are you giving her EBM? We've considered getting a pump and starting up a stock of EBM but I'm worried she'll prefer the bottle over the breast because it's easier to get the milk out. I've heard about bottles with teats that mimick breastfeeding - they have to work harder to get a letdown - but haven't seen any and have no idea where to get them. Would be handy though, next Saturday I'm off to get my hair done. It'll take about two hours, and that's the longest DH and Annabelle will have been alone together. It's early morning so hopefully she sleeps through most of it!

Bskilner, hopefully William is just having a wonder week or a growth spurt. There's so much changing and growing internally that we just don't see, their perception of things is changing all the time. I think this has a bit to do with when Annabelle's been unsettled - it matched perfectly with the description of the week 5 wonder week, and apparently there's another at week 8.

Well, not much to update here. I've put new pics up on FB though, including the PixiFoto ones. Harriet, was it you who asked how they went? If you want to PM me your name I'll add you so you can see them.

We've got our check up and vaccinations today, which I'm not looking forward to. Very thankful DH can come with me! Then Mum & Dad are visiting tomorrow for a quick lunch, so I'm really hoping Annabelle is settled. She hasn't been for the last few visits and Mum is certain she can settle her better than me which only makes things worse.

i think from when i have given william a bottle of ebm, that it is easier for him to get it out of bb rather than bottles, he definately prefers bb. it takes a while for him to even start sucking them and it takes him longer to feed too.

Well. That was horrible. She screamed and cried, I cried, DH tried not to :( I just wanted to stop them and take her away. It was worse because she was so happy before then. She was smiling and playing with everyone, making lots of cute noises, then bam, in go the needles. The nurse said the next ones aren't as bad, I sure hope so!

Her measurements were all good, she's 60cm long, 5.95kgs and 41cm HC. Her growth has actually slowed a bit, she's right on the 90th percentile now.

What bottles and pump do you have Bskilner? At least they don't make him refuse breastfeeds, that's what I'm worried about.

Vacinations are always horrid afairs! but I think worth it.

I have an electic pump I use when I get the chance and just express whats there. It adds up over a day and stores for acouple of days in the fridge. We use tommee tippee closer to nature bottles and all my babies have liked them over other brands. But I also give formula in bottle. took awhile to find 1 we liked and she liked- gotta stop DS2 from going in and eating the powder :lol:

Think we'll go next week for a check. Keen to see what she weighs and sure shes bigger.

well first week on my own WHOA, DH had the first 2 weeks off and my Mum had 5 weeks off to help me, which was awesome just having the company more then anything!

but my first week has been fantastic, older 2 havent been too well behaved but im coping 1000times better then i ever thought
hudson started off good but as the week wore on he has been clingy but still sleeping 10-11hrs anight he had a few nights of 8hrs which ment he got over tired :(

went out and bought a new pram today! i had a P&T Dash, but quite a few things i didnt like about it so i bought a Baby Jogger City Select :D got my first pram with a bassinette so totally over the moon
DH has no idea what i spent he said a figure so i just agreed lol
Hudsons still only small lol 0000 clothes still (000 bonds) his next MCHN appt is tuesday so hopefully his gainned lots of weight :D
but his become so chucky its a chuck, we had several days of horrible projectile vomiting which i wore several times yuck but usually he just throws up non stop
he threw up so bad the day in the car (silently) i had to buy him a new outfit before i could hold him
Hudson can have his needles next wednesday (ill book in for the friday) he had to wait til he was over 2 months old as he was 3 weeks early

Morning ladies!

How are all the bubs going that have been vacinated?

I am just loving the interaction we are starting to get, the smiles, eyebrow wiggles, the almost giggles

She feels very different to the boys. Her daddy and brothers so in love with her its gorgeous to watch them interacting.

Finding it almost impossible to put her down so we have ordered a baby sling in the hopes that I will be able to have hands free sometimes and be able to get off the couch. I want to spend more time with my boys sefore they go back to kindy on the 1st Sept and also have that pesky 10kg to lose that just aint budging!
Anybody got any diet tips? Im breastfeeding alittle stil so cant use any wonder pills or teas and too busy and tired to get more then 10 mins on our tread mill every few days. Air polution here is bad so cant take baby out really. (sigh)

Little lady is gonna be on the move soon. She has the hip push action going, if shes like her brothers she'll be a rolly polly baby by next weekend. Thats an end of an area for us (sigh) they do grow so fast

kaytee - i have the philips avent manual pump and use the bottles that they have too. and then freeze the ebm in special ebm bags.

sorry to hear that the immunisations were upsetting, but atleast they are done for now so you dont have to worry about them.

william has started sleeping longer at night 6-7hours between feeds, but with it has been unsettled again. i was really enjoying the less crying. but back to being inconsolable, and difficult to feed. comes off after 5mins then screams if i try to give him any more. and then cries in my arms no matter what i do. have started trying to put him to bed earlier at night incase he is becoming overtired, but it may take a few days before he is accustomed. so trying shower at 6-6.30, followed by feed and then bed. it is really upsetting hearing him screaming, sounds like he has hurt himself, but its just that he wont let himself go to sleep when hes tired. he starts to drift off then flails his arms and legs around and wakes himself up, which makes him scream again. cant wait til this phase is over.

I feel for you Bskilner :( It's horrible when they scream and cry and you have no idea what's wrong. I suppose the silver lining is that you're getting a good block of sleep to recover, but it does make for difficult evenings.

DT, I can't believe how fast they're growing! Yesterday Annabelle was in her play gym, and really focusing on one of the hanging toys and deliberately hitting it. It looked like she was trying to grab it, but can't quite coordinate that yet. She's just getting so big and learning so many new things, even that tiny little thing made me cry lol. Is Sophie rolling from front to back, or back to front? I worry I don't have Annabelle on her tummy enough for her to really try, but she's really strong so might have to give her more tummy time.

And yes, those almost giggles are so adorable. It's like she's trying so hard to get it into a laugh, but it just comes out as funny breathing with a huge grin lol. I'll probably cry again when she starts laughing!

MoT, to me you are Super Mum! I really don't think I could do this with two older children too. People who come over tell me how fantastic I'm doing because the house is always clean and we're all so happy, but I think it's easy to do stuff when Belley's asleep during the day. Give two older children and I reckon I'd fall to pieces! Glad your first week on your own went well, and at least you're getting plenty of rest at nights.

We had a few crappy nights the last week, Belley was only sleeping for about 3 hours at a time, and wasn't sleeping properly when she was asleep. On Saturday night she woke at 1am, then again at 2 so I brought her to bed with us. She had awful lower wind pain, and this way I could sleep and feed and move her legs all kind of at the same time, was great. DH said he woke up at 4 because I was snoring, he looked over and I was asleep with Belley attached having a feed. He said he almost had to leave the room so he wouldn't wake us up laughing lol.

Then yesterday! She only had 2 and a half hours sleep all day, in one block in the morning. Then she would not sleep, we'd just get her to sleep and she'd wake up crying. Finally got her to sleep at 10:30 by feeding her to sleep in bed. And hooray, all that wakefulness tired her out, she only woke once last night! I'm guessing all this is still part of her growth spurt/8 week wonder week, so really hoping she grows out of it soon.

Had 2 mth check, 5.65kg ang 59-60cm long. Had oral vacination today, she screwed her face up and spat the med out :lol: how do you convince a 2 mther to swollow gross stuff? We did it in the end but shes a stubborn we thing.
Got my Sling today, its in the wash now and can hardly wait to try it out tomorrow!

today Hudson slept 3hrs in his own bed :D without spewing too :D :D
Havent done his 8 week injections (but i was told to wait til after aug 17th as he was 3 weeks early)
got his MCHN appt tomorrow, only issue will be is Tahtah is sick and ill have jhett too so could have my hands full lol (unless i can convince my old boss to have Jhett while i talk to the nurse)

Daddy is finally seeing why im so besotted in Hudson his finally smiling and giggling and staring non stop at his daddy :D loves his big brother and is getting used to his sister lol

DT what sling did you get??? we bought a baby bjorn for me which i found life saving! (dont need it as much currently but next week could be a different story lol)

:lol: I was wondering when Sophie was going to stop over night feeds She feeds at 10.30-11pm, 3.30am and 6.30-7am both the boys did this til about 6 mths.
We got a minizone. sling Gosh its miles of material! Its stil wet this morning so im a tad disapointed Iwont get to try it today and Sophie is grumpy too.

Sophie is gonna be a squealer! alreadyy she can scream louder than her brothers- suspect this is a survival instinct :doh: gotta be heard over the siblings

Kaytee - william loves his play gym, he is constantly hitting the hanging mirror and making it move. it has a pull cord which makes it play music, and he has activated it once but he keeps trying. plus he has started reaching out for the rings on the bassinette lol.

william hasnt rolled over yet, only onto his side.

dt - william also has a voice that carries, has a really high pitched squeal that is ear wretching.

william didnt sleep for a long stint last night, feed at 8.30pm, then at 1.20am, then again at 5.30 and 8.30am. but on plus side not so much screaming, which i think i prefer.

DT, Sophie is pretty close to Annabelle at her 8 week check - only 300g off, and same length. It's funny the differences in babies of the same age though, at MG there's a baby a few days younger than Annabelle (they're the youngest two there) and she's tiny! She looks like a little newborn, she's smaller now than Annabelle was at birth lol.

Gotta laugh at the squealing, I bet she's competing with her brothers!

That oral vaccine stuff, Belley swallowed it well, it came out a few times but apparently there's plenty in the little thingie in case they spit some out. Did Sophie have a reaction to it? It went straight through Belley, we had a huge green poop that night (some of it in the bath, ew!).

Hope your sling works well. I have a Peanut Shell and she absolutely hates it. Now that I have it, it doesn't seem well made. To me, the outside part that goes around baby should be longer than the inside part that goes against me. It's not though, so she's really squished in there. We've got a Combi Carrier too, so just waiting til she's big enough to go upright in it.

MoT, isn't it strange when they sleep in their beds the first time? I still can't get used to Belley having day naps in her cot, so she still has some out in the lounge in her pram so I can see her lol.

BSK, I'm with you - I'd prefer more wake ups over screaming/crying anyday! Hope soon William can sleep longer and not cry.

Belley had her two month birthday yesterday :) And she celebrated well! Rolled from tummy to back for the first time, did a kind of half giggle (I don't know if it counts as her first giggle lol, but it was close!) and slept from 9pm to 6am - perfect timing as that's when we wake for DH to go to work. We woke more than her to check on her lol. And I had a serious case of rock boobs when she did wake!

Hudson had his 8 week yesterday he weighs 4.24kg and his 57cm long
because he hasnt gained much weight he needs to go back in a month but my MCHN is very happy with us :D (because jhett was born big 3.940 or 8.11lbs but didnt gain much weight at this age im not worried)
hudson is still sleeping 10-11hrs a night but still in my bed so now that his napping 3-4hrs a day (at one time) in his bassinette still in the lounge room with me but he sleeps in it i need to start moving him into the bassinette over night!
need to go on friday for his injections! my family GP is away currently but luckly another makes me feel comfortable.

we are getting so many smiles and giggles , only issue is when daddy comes home i get " quick mummy look at this" but i get it every 2mins which makes cooking dinner impossible LOL
Jhett has started picking him up which gives me a heart failure i can just see envisions of hudson being dropped on his head, but i gotta be careful not to scare Jhett off
but Jhett will sit on the couch for hrs(almost) holding Hudson worst part is trying to get hudson away from him even when his screaming for feed, its sweet

had a good night last night, not too much crying but easily settled with hugs. then slept from 9pm until 4am, then again until 8.30, then slept until 11am. so good night overall.

Yes the vacine went straight through Sophie too wicked green poops! :lol: we missed another bath poop by just afew mins but earlierin the day I was changing nappy with Ollie helping and there was a poop explosion, got me, Ollie and everything around us. Ollie burst into tears when he realised what had happened and said "I hate Sophie, she pooped on me" :rofl:

How much down time do your babies have? I think Sophie isnt getting as much as the boys did- possibly because Im worried they will run over her (literally) Thought she was gonna roll over but she doesnt seem interested now and she isnt reaching for things yet. When the boys are back at kindy I'll put her down more and have more 1 on 1 time I guess.

I just put her in her bassinette- there isnt much room left in there. Maybe have to look at getting a portable cot to pop her in, in the lounge or I guess I could start putting her into her cot in my bedroom. she'll seem so small in that cot

just a little update, since theres not much new from everyone else.

william has taken to sleeping longer at night constantly, around 8-10hrs between feeds, which is leaving me a little hard with the missing feeds, but im sure my body will adjust shortly. He is still growing up a storm and think he will be out of 00 soon, he is just too long. he has been crying less at night too, so hoping that he is about to grow out of the colic.

it is very quiet oooooooooooooo

we had needles today and i was so brave i didnt cry when Hudson did lol
Hudson is still being a sweet cept for being extra extra clingy so much so 3 days straight someone was holding him if he wasnt in his pram
loves his pram so much and i love my pram too lol
got a busy few weeks coming up sold our house and moving into a rental for a while so now ive gotta find a rental that suits our needs
but with the selling of our house it means i can have new car :D (went car shopping sunday and it was like chewing off my elbow only 1 7seater Territory but not in the model i want so we looked at other SUVs and none of them had any boot space once the back seats went up which made the 7seater pointless so gotta keep looking)
im also suffering from my bad back again (always had back issues but after my daughter they got worse) and i woke up with a nasty throat infection luckly we were already going drs so now im on antibiotics and strong painkillers
Hudson is still bed sharing i just cant bring myself to use the bassinette yet (which is so strange as i never bedshared with my older 2)
but i love the mornings when i can watch him wake up :D wakes up with the funniest face expressions almost like relief im still here and yay im awake lol

DT your boys are super lucky to be able to go to work with daddy (i remember loving going to my parents work growing up) hopefully sophie relaxes enough away from you to let you nap xoxo growing outta the bassinette already????

william is also getting close to the end of the bassinette, he is a tall boy. even worse when he kicks around, as he ends up with his head right at the top of it.

my first had a normal size bassinette which he used until 5months easily
but because im an idiot (LOL) i had to buy a new bassinette for my younger 2 and ended up buying a BIG bassinette (it needed a custom foam and uses cradle sheets)
but its sitting all pretty like (usually storing the lego) in my lounge rarely used lol

Oh, MOT hope your feeling better soon. I hate throat infections SO much.

B-Glad to hear the colic is settling down. I took Sophies teething neckless off her last week and havent had any major colic bouts but her reflux is stil pretty bad.

Now she is bigger she is learning to deal with it better but it still freaks us out when milk comes flying out her nose and we have nose clearers every where for those times. Its so scarey to see her not be able to breath. It scares me that something will happen at night when we are asleep- so Im not putting her in her cot at night.

The boys go back to school next week YAY! Everybody has really had enough of being home. its been bad holidays this year. Havent been able to take them anywhere and as a result we have bald patches on our couch from where they have been sitting watching tv for days. I try do crafts and pictures and stuff but somedays they just dont wanna do anything like that. Baking has been good for them- try teach them about food and whats good and whats not. Not helping me lose my baby weight though! :lol:

Its lunch time so better go
