i dont have video either, i just know by the cries that he makes. If hes going back to sleep he usually goes quiet after a couple of minutes, and dont know how to explain it but it sounds different when hes awake?? lol, mum intuition, you'll probably know belley is awake too, just havent had to before because she is in your room. its funny how these things are. last night he slept through like usual and didnt wake until 7am. but he usually doesnt cry much overnight when he wakes up, just grizzles and chats away. if he wakes up screaming i jump out of bed lol before my legs have time to adjust lol.
-
Now is definatly the time we can start to leave them to re-settle if they are not crying. Sophie does all kinds of squeakes and grunts while shes sleeping, she'll wake for afew seconds then get herself back to sleep sometimes too.
Had her 3 mth check today, 61cm and 6.6kg
Busy with her 100 day celebratio0n stuff and my sister is here so I'll catch up with y'all properly later

Hey ladies & bubs :)
Was going to reply to you guys yesterday but I don't reckon you'd have liked what I'd write lol. Would have been very ranty and include a lot of starred out swearing. A long story short, Annabelle woke every two hours max Monday night. During the day she tried so hard to sleep, and was woken up every time by the dog. He's so lucky to be alive right now lol. But yeah, the whole day was just her crying and trying to feed and trying to sleep and not much was going right.
Today's much better, but she's still waking a lot more than normal overnight. Yesterday morning, when she decided 5:30 was the perfect time to be awake for the day, I wound up crying, saying to DH "I know about the 4 month growth spurt and sleep regression, but if she's doing this now at 3 months what's she got to regress to??" Lol so yeah, bad day!
She can't self settle/re-settle yet. The longest I leave her is 15 minutes. She starts with the waking up sounds - grunting, louder breathing etc, then slowly gets louder, then makes little talky squeaky sounds. Eventually I go in there and she's managed to get her hands out of the wrap and she's sucking away looking at everything around the room lol.
I do have a feeling she's been a bit ill. She developed a bit of a cough and was sneezing. Then on Monday she did a massive green stinky poo. She's done another normal one today so I'm hoping it's passing. Pretty annoyed at my brother's gf though, I think that's where it came from. On the Father's Day weekend we were with the whole family and she spent hours playing with Annabelle only for us to find out later that she was sick. And boy did it show the next day, she looked awful. Wish she'd not spent so much time with Belley now, but oh well.
Anyway, enough about us :)
DT, Sophie is exactly the same size as Annabelle at her 3 month check! What are you doing for her 100 day celebration? I hadn't even thought of that, I'm off to look up when Belley will be 100 days old lol.
Bskilner, how's William going through the night? It must be so reassuring for him to be sleeping through in there.
MoT, hope you guys are all over your illnesses now and are feeling much better.
Has anyone else got a talker? Annabelle has really discovered her voice, and really yells/squeals/squawks at everything! She's got these hanging people in her little play gym thingy, she grabs their legs and screams at them because they can't reach her mouth lol. Her favourite game is when I hold her standing on my lap, I count to three then lift her in the air and kiss her face. I don't know if it's possible, but it's like she recognises "3" because she gets a big grin when I say it. Then in the air she squeals and laughs, it's so adorable :) I reckon once she can talk properly there'll be no stopping her!

Hi
Kt, Lilac is such a chatterbox. She has been making baby talk since she was born. Very strange to me. A friend just told me her 4 month old has just started chatting.
I've been feeling really depressed and useless because lately when I've tried to go out, just to take my son to the playground, Lilac has got stroppy and the experience has made me stressed. I feel like a bad mum for my son.
So many people said having a 2nd child was easier. Yes, the baby is easier but I suck at juggling the needs of 2.

Big hugs K  I take my hat off to anyone with more than one child, I get overwhelmed at times with just the one. We have a horrible time going anywhere that's over 20 minutes away. If Belley wakes up in the car, she screams. She just seems to hate it in there now. I sit in the back with her on long trips now but that doesn't even help sometimes.
Hoping things get better for you
-
Oh Kuraiza, bug hugs. Im sure you are doing a wonderful job hun. It ca be so hard. I think all babys have unsettled moments when you go out and it feels like everybody else has "good" babys. I think babys just get need time to get use to everything, the world is a pretty overwhelming place. Some days will be better then others.
We have to have a huge dinner for the 100 day celebration. will be about 100 people - relatives, friends etc. Everybody will wanna hold Sophie, shake her, kiss her, make her smile and over stimulate her. Its gonna be a nightmare. It was with DS2 and this 1 wont be different. We also will get photos done at a place, will get some of her, some of the boys and some of the kids together maybe even a family photo slipped in. Hope that will be fun, I know the boys are looking forward to it.
Ollie is home with a cough at the mo- hope he doesnt give it to the baby.
Funny that the girls are the same size
Hello to everybodyelse

-
kaytee - he was awake at 2.30 then 5.30am last night. how adorable about belley laughing with that game.
double trouble - hope the party goes well.
william is really grizzly today, doesnt want to sleep when he needs it. he is still really sniffly with blocked nose which doesnt help. but hes crying no matter what i do. cant wait for this cold to pass.
-
BS- have you got a oil burner? Tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil mixed with water helps to clean the nose. So does a little drop of warm water put up the nose- Just 1 drop at a time, it can help to moisten and loosen the yucky stuff blocking it. If you dont wnt to try that, put the shower on hot and close the door, the steam should help.
Part of his crying will be unable to breathe, he'll be scared on a very basic instinct level. My DS2 stil freaks out when he gets a cold and cant breathe.
Hugs to both of you, its so hard when they dont stop crying.
-
dt - dont have an oil burner, but been giving him a shower of anight time which definately helps. and been using saline drops up his nose when it gets bad, but he just hates it. screams the house down. considering buying a humidifier. but a bit better today, but still not wanting to sleep much.
and just did a poo after 5 days without one, had lots of belly pain beforehand, poor tyke. glad that he pooed lol. who would ever think you'd be glad someone pooed.

howdee do dee
just sat down but baby has other ideas

Hey there Mums & Bubs!
Wow it's quiet in here! I've been a bit inactive on BB for a while, reading but not posting much. Had a few horrible days with Belley where I was just exhausted and stressed and felt like doing not much other than crying :( Then whenever I did get a break I was packing away stuff we don't need to make moving easier.
DT, I just saw your other thread  I hope your little man is ok. I can only imagine what it would be like for you to see him struggling like that. Hopefully things gets easier soon.
How was Sophie's 100 day celebration (if it's been yet)? Hope she didn't get passed around and worn out too much. It's hard when family and friends don't respect that they're still little and need down time and a bit of stability with the one person. My Mum's a bad one for that.
Bskilner, how's William doing? Hope he got over his cold and is feeling better, poor little guy :( Hope you're managing to get some rest too
Kuraiza, hugs to you too  I'm sure your son realises things need to be a little different to accommodate bubs, you're doing a fantastic job. Hopefully Lilac starts to settle down for you soon.
I had a go at weighing Annabelle on the kitchen scales this morning, seeing as our bathroom ones broke lol. A bit dodgy, but she's around 7.3kgs! At MG yesterday she was lying next to a 5 month old - same length, but Belley's like a kilo heavier lol. It's funny there, loads of the babies are big, Annabelle certainly isn't in the minority!
It's getting better there. I think all the 'judginess' is out of the way, and while we do all parent differently it seems everyone's over it. I find that if I ask questions about their styles it's all good. Like the girl who uses Tizzie Hall's schedules - wakes up baby at 7am, down from 9-11, then 1-3, then down for the night at 7. She wakes bubs at these times if she's not waking herself. Anyway, I asked a few questions, like what if she wakes at 10? Do you just keep trying to keep her asleep, and then wake her at 11? Or what if you have a late night or go out, do you still wake her at 7? It just doesn't seem logical to me but it's working for them. I just cant imagine putting Annabelle to bed to 'self-settle' if she wasn't tired. It just wouldn't happen!
Hope you're all doing well and the little ones are all good :)

Hey!
Sophies 100 day wasnt as bad as I had expected. She was hot so started crying soon after we got there which was good, meant that people didnt try kidnap her.
We had 10 tables of guests, about 100 odd people plus kids. I just took her round each table and when she cried would take her back. The next weekend we had her cousins 100 day celebrations and she fared much worse there, was little miss parcel in a pass the parcle game, got her photo taken by every man and their dog and stole the show from her cousin Im afraid but it was only afew hours and here where most couples only have 1 baby, babys are prized, everbody wants a cuddle and a smell. Im learning torelax a bit with dh family but to watch like a hawk cause they stil do stupid things- ie an uncle threw her in the air, like you would a toddler NOT A BABY! IDIOT!!!
Personally, I think, If you dont need a schedule for baby, then dont enforce 1, I believe in nudging into a routine if possible-ie I know if I feed DD at 11pm I can (most nights) sleep until 3am. Asking questions is a friendly and I think your great to try talk to them. interesting too- how do they get baby to do the routine? fascinating hehe
-
Dt: I'm just wondering, is the 100 day celebration just a family tradition, or is it a cultural tradition from somewhere?
---'---,---«@
Jude 07/10/2008 | Lilac 16/06/2011

DH is chinese,so I guess its a cultural thing. You celebrate baby, either at 3 days, or 100 days. Have a noddle lunch and a banquet dinner for relatives friends and important people in your life. Its also customary to get special photos done. (use to just be special to get a photo donr now its a blardy expensive pacjage deal at a photo place with our kid wearing "cute" costums) Special prayers will be said, child can be blessed and offerings made to what ever god/s godess/s China being confucious based, believes - for the most part- it doesnt matter what religion you belong to really.
-
Ah OK, that's interesting. I'd never heard of it before. I have to say I don't have the energy for celebrating 100 days, so good on you.
Also, kt: I wanted to say, I'm glad mothers group is getting better. It's really hard when people parent in such vastly different ways, it's one thing in life where you can't just say "each to their own, it doesn't hurt anyone else"because there's a baby involved and I'm very anti tizzy hall and I think her methods are damaging, I feel sick at the thought of people forcing routines and restricting feeding for a tired, hungry baby whose basic needs are so simple, can't we just meet them?
Anyway, that's my rant over.

Morning everyone :) Been quiet in here for a while!
DT, what was that uncle thinking!! I guess if babys are kind of 'rare' there then he may not really know how to treat a small baby? I dunno, but I reckon I'd have freaked out a little if I'd seen that. Sounds like the day went pretty well though - and at least you get cute photos out of it :)
Yeah I don't get the schedule/Tizzie Hall thing either. A routine, yes - Annabelle knows that when I start undressing her at night, she's having nappy free time, and she knows when Daddy comes to get her that he's going to give her a bath, then it's time to get dressed, have a feed and go to sleep. When she shows tired signs during the day I'll hold her close, and feed her quietly to sleep. But none of it is set to a time.
Like this morning, she woke at 7, but was hungry at 8. So I fed her and she fell asleep. Not for long, but still. Seeing as the schedule says to put her in bed at 9, no earlier, what should I have done? Would feel cruel to wake her. And then if she does miraculously go to sleep right on 9, but wake at 10, you're supposed to try to get them back to sleep. So if it works at say 10:30, they have to be up again at 11, so you have to wake her up! Seems like the poor kid is just getting messed around, I'd much rather fit in with what she's doing. Plus, it means as long as Belley is fed/clean etc, we can go anywhere at any time. These guys won't leave the house between 9&11 and 1&3 because it's the scheduled nap time.
K, I'm kind of like you. I started to think "Well who says my way is better? They're just doing what works for them." But then I see these little babies, and it really sucks to think they're being so scheduled, that their needs and wants are being completely overridden to fit in with their parents' timetable. I dunno. While I think their methods aren't great, last night there was another new story about "the dangers of co-sleeping" so I'm sure they all think I'm a danger to Annabelle. Oh well, I'll just keep doing things my way and leave them to it.
I can't believe we're all coming up to four months!! Annabelle has her needles on Monday :( :( Looking forward to seeing how much she's grown - she had a massive growth spurt last week, I reckon you could watch her grow lol. And she's back to feeding every two hours over night, so she must be doing some real growing I reckon!
-
Hi ladies. Been reading and not posting. Glad to hear that bubba's are mostly going well.
Hamish had his 4mth checkup yesterday. His weight has dropped to the 25th percentile but he's been really fussy at the breast. He weighs 6.025kgs. Which is still an average gain of 100grs a week but oh well. Nurse asked me was I thinking about solids. I said no as he wasn't giving any signs he was interested. I'm happy to just keep b/f until 6mths unless he shows a desperate interest. He has his needles tomorrow. Fun times.
-
Ooh a new name! I was about to welcome you then recognised the avvy & bub's name lol. Good luck for Hamish's needles tomorrow
Annabelle is seriously interested in food right now. She watches us eat so intently and tried to steal my apple the other day lol. I'm gonna pop on over to the Baby Led Weaning thread because we want to try that, and I reckon there are other signs that she'll be ready other than just the interest in our food.
I reckon we're going to cop a bit around here for doing it that way - there's a local GP telling the girls at Mother's Group that new studies say babies should start solids at 4 months to avoid allergies. Pfft. So they're all listening to that and Tizzie Hall and starting early. Plus MIL thinks Belley is a "fatty" (she spent all weekend calling her fatty) and is extra hungry and needs rice cereal. Yeah, cos that's so much better than breast milk!! Gah.
Anyway sorry, having a little rant again lol
-
hey girls,
whoa its been a little while...............so much going on we sold our house and had to find a rental FAST that took a while......got a rental :D but DH broke his finger and needed a quick surgery to make sure he didnt do any REAL damage and its moving WEEK and he cant really help! so we have to rely on people to help us which is good but means i have to stay on top of DH making sure he doesnt use his hand!
Bubba doesnt sleep very well overnight so im so exhausted but i think ive solved the issue, he likes complete darkness!
my back is very very painful :'( so by night im in tears crying from the pain but off to chiro tomorrow FX it helps
Bubba had a paed appiontment last week,
bubba weighs around 5kg slowly gaining his weight
we moved house on sunday :D now just gotta pay to get old house cleaned painted and lawnsd mowed!
chrio didnt help :'( but back into physio this is all from 3 pregnancys so close together so in a far amount of pain currently but painkillers help
had a S**T night last night he just screamed blue murder all night for his dummy!
DHs finger is slowly healing might be better if he didnt break the cast in 2 days!
(sorry if this post is all over the place started typing the other day and got distracted)
-
Hi all lovely mummies! I'm new in this thread. I kinda followed some of you in the the belly buddies thread but I didn't get around to posting much. And things have been exceptionally hectic for me since the birth of DS2 - I'm sure you all understand - so I haven't been in yet.
DS2 has had a rough start - we thought he had reflux but it didn't respond to medication and he was dropping down the percentiles in weight, spewing everywhere, crying for 1 hour after every feed. Turns out he has a cows milk protein allergy and it took 2 prescription formulas until we've found one that agrees with him. Still not great at feeding, but putting on weight now which is good.
I"ve been reading your posts and it has reminded me that he'll need to have his needles soon.
We are umming and ahhhing about starting solids. He spits up a lot of milk, so maybe solids would stay down better. And he does seem interested in our food. Plus he has great hand control and good head control...
Anyway enough of a ramble from me!
-
kaytee - yeh i dont get tizzy hall stuff, how can you set babies by the clock when they dont understand time??
i had william cosleeping with us the other night after his immunisations, coz then he slept relatively well and he was upset. good luck with your immunisations, william was off for that night but back to normal the next day.
i think william is about to have another growth spurt, he has been feeding 2.5hourly of a day and 4hourly of a night and has put on some chubb. His measurements at 4 months were height: 68cm weight: 7.51kg.
melbournemumma - sounds like your on the right track with waiting for solids to me. as long as he is growing and putting weight on, and is a happy bubba i wouldnt worry about what percentile he is in. good luck with your needles.
MoT - congrats on selling your place and gl with the move. sorry to hear about dh finger but glad that its fixed.
william likes complete darkness too, no night light.
sorry to hear about your back, nothing worse than a bad back and having to carry your baby everywhere.
bloom - welcome to the thread
afm - the midwife at my centre said the new recommended age will probably be 5 months, but to go by what your baby wants. ie william is watching us eat with interest and opening his mouth to a spoon but he hasnt got the hang of pushing his tongue to back of mouth. so she said to wait until hes reaching out for food and crying if you dont give it to him. coz she said babies tend to tell you when they are ready, and it usually coincides with when their gut is ready too.
-
I have no intention of rushing to solids. Blending up baby food is a massive pita. I'm just loving breast feeding my baby girl. I think I might breast feed her until she's 20.
A friend of mine was copping a lot of flak because she hadn't started her 7-month old on solids, but her baby is so healthy and big and happy, she obviously isn't missing anything.

wouldnt it be easier K! i hate the transistions to soilds so much work
Bloom i feel your pain, my eldest is still cows milk intolerent! and tried so many different formulas including the horribly expensive ones but he HATED them all so he stayed on EMB untill 11months then went onto soy, he loves soy milk
my DD was also cows milk intolerent but can now have dairy :D
and DS2 has cows milk allergy, reflux and heartburn but his BF and we just deal with the spewwing, my boys both had small slooow weight gains
DS1 dropped down the weight charts even lost weight as a newwie
DS2 didnt lose weight but only weighs 5kg but my MCHN & paed are both happy his gaining some weight
wishing you luck xoxo

Sophie is gettting ready for eating. She watches so closely and looks so disapointed everytime a spoon/ fork passes her by. The latest I have heard is that the tummy needs to be 17 weeks old to be able to handle food. So we will start offering then and just take it slowly.
-
How's everyone going?
Mum of Terrors, thanks for sharing about your kids milk intolerances. My DS2 is now doing really well on neocate (we couldn't exclusively bf due to hyperplasia)
Doubletrouble - yes! DS2 is pretty keen on looking at our food and even reaching out in the direction. What are you planning on starting Sophie on? My paed said no rice cereal and just heaps and heaps of veges for the first few months.
-
Bloom- No rice ceral, thats interesting. I have seen some pretty bad stuff about the chemicals found in some rice cereals lately so was humming and haaring about that. I'll jump on your wagon for that  seeing as its Haloween soon and we'll have alot of pumpkin insides to eat once we have carved them, I'll start her on pumpkin I think. Also apple and some custard. Just see what she likes. Im a cheater to start I buy baby food jars, then when I know what she likes I make most of it and buy the stuff shes not keen on so I can keep trying but not wasting alot of food. DS1 was a vegemite toast and rusk fan so when shes older that'll be the go there. They can keep themselves amused for ages with toast- Just need to keep a watch on how much they get in their mouths, choaking is a scarey thing.
Yesterday she kicked up mega tantys if anybody ate around her so I sat her on my knee and gave her a spoon to play with, she didnt like that much so I gave her a couple of spoonfuls of formula and she loved it, she drank 2 then just started laughing and laughing so it got a bit messy. Thought it was a good way to satisfy her but not introduce food yet. We'll hold out a few more weeks.
Gosh, cant believe we are almost eating!
How is everybody else? What about you lurkers out there? :hiding: I can see you
-
I will be starting william on rice cereal when hes showing a few more signs or when he is 5-6months old otherwise. And when he tolerates swallowing i will start him on vegies. midwife said not to start fruit and custard for a while. said babies prefer sweet so if you give them sweet early they wont want to eat vegies, also be careful with custard due to it being dairy plus some custards have egg in them.
-
I was on some American website - possibly Dr Sears... and there was a whole campaign against white rice cereal. Basically they were arguing that you should start babies on whole grain type rice cereal not processed. Google it if you are interested. (Nothing personal bskilner - each to their own etc).
I'm thinking of trying sweet potato and pumpkin as our firsts.
DS2 has been really sleepy today, he's fallen asleep after only about 30 minutes of awake time twice today, hence we are already on nap number 4 and it's only 3pm here. No pattern yet to his sleeps, can't wait till he hits the predictable 2 naps per day stage.
-
There are some good recipes in the baby food recipe thread (fancy that ) I make custard with formula, I wouldnt give straight cows milk to a baby under 12mths (we have history of intolerence with cows milk) and I think, egg yolk, is another controv food, here they pump you- feed your baby egg yolk from 4 mths but not informing you it could increase chances of egg allergy- but if you google egg yolk, it can be very good for your childs brain.
If I make vege or fruit for baby (its often vege we'll be eating but adding no salt or sugar) but I am gonna make pear baked custard for us tonight- it sounds yummy and if the kids dont like it then I'll just have to eat it all myself hehe
IMO wholegrains are really important for kids so if we can get imported organic wholegrain cereal then I might just try- short of that I could always smash up the kids cherrios ;) white short grain rice is a fav in this country (surprise!) and is always the kids 1st food, slow cooked with heaps of water til its mush, baby starts on rice water then slowly moves to the mush rice and egg. MIL was horrified at what I did with DS2 and the fact that he wanted to feed himself and get messy  she stil feeds him baby ceral now, perhaps cant get over what a bad mummy I am.
Speaking of food, better get my A into G and prep dinner while Sophie is having a nap.
Once a day she is happy to go into her cot in our room and sleep, she almost enjoys it, lets out a cute sigh when she goes in, rolls her head, sucks her thumb and straight to sleep (we have lullaby playing too) its great, hope she continues to feel comfortable in there. Perhaps because there is no preasure to sleep in it, she knows if she doesnt want to sleep there we'll try something else (often stil holding her) small steps with velcro babys :)
-
bubba wont be starting soilds until at least 6months, DD2 gave us some very scary moment choking on her foods so she was almost 7months old when she started yet she was the most keen out of the older 2! Bubba has a very weak gag reflux so im in no hurry!
weve got our 4m MCHN appt tomorrow im guessing he weighs about 5.1kg hopefully more :D
he still wears 000 bonds to bed! and 000 oneies! younger babies are actually passing clothes/nappies onto us LMAO but his got the cutest little bum
DS1 had/has no bum the poor little thing and while bubba is smaller then he was his atleast got a bum
it is funny though DS1 was EBM and is small
DD was BF and is a real chubba (i love it so much)
and Bubba is BF, if DD wasnt BF id think my milk wasnt fatty enough but it must just be the boys!
Bubba is still obessed with his hands :D and yells at his swing or change table mobile when they stop working its funny watching/listening to him
He still doesnt have tummy time as he HATES it, so we dont push it, and his the 1st one out of all 3 that actually likes both me and DH
DS1 only liked his daddy (which made mon tues REAL FUN (NOT) when daddy went to work lol
DD only liked me she used to cry at daddy LMAO
but bubba loves us both :D
if your buying Baby food i found ONLY ORGANICS the best brand for allergies, my DS1 lived on that brand (hated home made food cept for weetbix) most have no dairy egg or gluten
DD wasnt a fan of jar food (ive still got the jars from her!) she liked feeding herself! so we will try farrex (maybe but my older 2 HATED it) then we will move on apple as i LOVE apple DS1 and i used to play one for you one for me lol
DT- my mum and nana learnt a lot with DS1 as i showed her how normal it is for babies to make a mess Mum learnt the hard way with DD lol
while i hate the mess i enjoy watching them learn and experiance it all
Bloom Teddybear biscuits are great as they have NO DAIRY! DS1 lived on them instead of rusks (rusks always made my babies sick)
-
bloom - thats fine personal choice, i will still be doing farex. there are always campaigns out saying what is better so i try not to listen and go with my own instincts. if you listen to too much of that you couldnt eat anything. everything in moderation i always say. and dont forget you need to be giving your baby iron, coz thats why they need to start solids at 6 months in the first place. but im sure everyone will do what they find best for them and their child. will only be using that alone to begin with then will be starting vegies soon after.
doubletrouble - they actually say the egg whites are more likely to have reaction than yolks, surprising i know.
mOt - maybe genetics, maybe hes just going to be small, you cant overfeed a bf bub and im sure you would know about it if you underfed him lol. gl with your mchn appt.
im with you on letting them experiment and learn with food. will just have to buy a plastic mat for the floor lol. will be messy but cute.
-
Hey everyone :) Been popping in every now and then, but not enough time to post properly between packing. Plus I don't think my brain has really been up to putting together something that makes sense, lol.
I find the solids discussion really interesting - I'm with you Bskilner, there are so many differing views out there, there is no possible way to do something that everyone agrees with, and no one way will suit everyone. Within our Mother's Group there are lots doing rice cereal from four months, another who waited til 6 months then found her DD didn't like the jar food so just moved on to fruit mash from home, and others who just feed bubs whatever will go on a spoon - jam, custard, whatever. There are so many different methods, it's so hard to know what's right, it's just what's right for you.
I've ordered Gill Rapley's BLW book, I'm interested to see what it says about first foods. I've read the same thing about fruit - it's sweeter so bubs will choose it over veges. With the iron thing, I read somewhere (I think a blog post somewhere) that offering red meat early on is now recommended. That seems strange, a baby munching on a piece of steak lol. I've still got time to go through the book and see what I think though - Belley looks at all our food and I know if I gave her some it would go in her mouth, but everything goes in her mouth. She's interested in whatever I'm holding - phone, keys, remote - and all of it would go in her mouth. She still has a very strong tongue thrust reflex, and I don't think she actually wants to eat something, just chew anything you know? I really doubt she'd swallow anything yet, it'd get pushed straight back out with her tongue.
The gagging thing I'm told can be a bit of a worry, but apparantly the gag reflux starts a lot closer to the front of the mouth in babies, not back in the throat like adults, so that they can push the food forward. Apparently a normal part of learning to eat? I dunno, but it'd still be scary if you think they're choking.
Welcome to the thread Bloom! Hope you and your bub are doing well, looking forward to getting to know you :)
Nawww MoT, how cute is Hudson yelling at stuff to get it going again. And so cute that he loves you both so much :) I don't know what I'd do if Belley preferred DH, it would make the days too hard! She definitely loves it when he gets home after work, she gets so excited to see him again. It's so cute to see. Good luck with your appointment today! I wouldn't worry about Hudson't weight, your other two are so different he could fall anywhere on the scale lol.
Bskilner, it was good to read that William was a little unsettled after his vaccinations but got better quickly - I needed that last night! Annabelle's vaccinations were at 3:30, and it was horrible :( I cried as soon as they started counting to jab her, and DH nearly fainted from the stress of it. But once it was done he scooped her up and stopped the crying in no time. Then last night was just normal, bath at 7, feed to sleep at 7:30, but then she woke at 8 and couldn't get back to sleep. She ended up getting really worked up, screamed the house down. She finally calmed down at 9:30, but was still sobbing in her sleep, it was horrible :( She woke again and cried some more, and finally fed to sleep and slept from 11 til 5. She's still tired today, just exhausted from all the crying I guess.
Other than the vaccinations, her check up was great. Measurements were 65cm and 7.39kgs. It's funny to think they're her measurements at four months and she's 97th percentile, but I know a baby from my home town who's 15 weeks old, 65cm and 8.22kgs. Now that's a big baby!
Our sleep is a bit up and down. Some nights she'll sleep ten hours, others she's up every two hours. There's no pattern or way to predict it. She also won't sleep anywhere except being held. I just accept it and settle in for snuggles and then take her room to room to do stuff when she's awake. But I've got the No Cry Sleep Solution books ordered, interested to see if they suggest anything that actually works.
Anyway, gotta go get ready for MG. Hope you're all well!

kaytee - you can get fortified cereals that have iron in them, when you first give meat you can blend it into puree. william is the same, sucks/chews on anything. but think he is starting to get the hang of swallowing and pushing things to the back of his mouth, as he has started drooling less and keeps making funny shape with tongue?? But i wont be starting food until atleast 5 months.
yeh william slept in our bed first night after immunisations, think he kept having nightmares of the nurse stabbing him with a needle lol. who knows. but now he is back to normal, sleeping through the night from 9pm-7am. But it wasnt until after he did the poo from the rotavirus one, went 4.5days with nothing then went for 3 days straight, a few poos everyday but slowing down now. and a lot more settled.
thats a big baby kt, william is long but not overly chubby.
william wanted to be held a lot again after the immunisations, didnt want to sleep in his bed, but he is better now. sleeping 3-4 naps a day in his cot, then has an afternoon nap in my arms after feed before his shower and bed.

the gagging thing is real scarey when they start eating. DS2 has always had a strong reflex, and not good with textured foods so I got very good at wisking him out of the high chair and turning him tummy side onto my knee and patting his back. Sophie has turned blue afew times from reflux blocking her nose etc so I reackon Im stil pretty fast at it, but man it freaks me out! Huge adrenaline rush. There have been afew nights night where I have hardly slept because her reflux has been bad and I want to watch out for her.
I use to give DS1 chop bones to chew on, no big pieces of meat left on them, and he loved it (he was born in the year of the dog though) Vegemite use to be recommended for helping with the iron after 6 months, but I believe the sodium content concerned some people ?? Their iron needs are the highest they will ever be I was told, as they are born with enough to last about 6 months then its all go.
 Love the little master yelling for things to work more.
Good to know its egg white, I can pop egg yolk into baked pear custards then
Grizzly bear is grumping, catch you lata alligata

Wow DT, I'd totally freak out if she turned blue on me!! I bet you've gotten super fast reflexes for that now.
DH just came home and told me a horrible story :( He was saying to the guys at work about our rough night with Belley last night, and a guy there told him about his 15 month old DD. She was born early with underdeveloped lungs. She spent the first six months in hospital, and sometimes when she gets excited she just stops breathing, falls over and turns blue. They try and help by blowing in her face but mostly they just have to wait til she starts breathing again. I guess it can always be worse, I can't imagine being in their position.
Bskilner, it's funny you mention about the nightmares, that's exactly how it seemed with Belley last night. She'd randomly wake up crying, or cry in her sleep.
I'm not sure how her poo will be after the rotavirus this time. Before yesterday, she hadn't done a poo since Friday before last. Thankfully yesterday she did two to make up for it, but now I'm not sure she's got any left in there for even the rotavirus to get out lol.

Failed
Feeling like a failure. My milk has dried up and doesnt seem to be coming back. I made some L cookies expressed more then usual but its not happening. She has had breast refusal for weeks and so I started to express to atleast give her some BM but now it seems to be over. DH doesnt mind, he says atleast she got afew months and reminded me DS1 was the same with refusal and we didnt pump extra then and hes great. I BF DS2 for a year, really battled through pumping and dumping when I was in hospital. I would never have thought my milk would dry up while I was pumping. I dont have the time to sit and pump all day but I wish to get my milk back. My feelings are mixed and I would like to be at peace either way. Pumping in our busy house has been a nightmare but I cant let go my guilty feelings I should be producing milk for her. Sorry ladies, Im tired, was up alot in the night. Ramble over. Hope y'all have a good weekend

DT YOUR NOT A FAILURE XOXO
the fact you BF for so long is fantastic!
there is a pill your DR can give you if you really wanna contine (but ive heard to side affects can be a bit nasty)
and pumping i fully fully understand DS1 was EMB for 11months mostly due to guilt (he also HATED all soy formulas and i hated the smells) and when i was 3 months pregnant with DD i almost cried in relief i could finally stop pumping and not feel too guilty!
i hope you get some rest and feeling more relaxed and less guilty soon xoxo
