I haven't been getting them, so I've had a lot to catch up on :)

Harrison had his 2 month immuinisations today...I made DP take him in because I did not want to see him squeal (which apparently he did poor little fella) but he's been very brave and is sleeping it off. He also had his 6-8 week check up and the nurse is very very happy with his growth and development. Everything is right on track and his measurements are following the bell curve perfectly. He's up to 58cm's long and 5.5kg wooo she told me I should be proud of myself for doing a good job. So I'm off to celebrate with the eating of cake....mmm cake.

Took Adrian to get his shots today, he cried a bit and went sooooo red in the face when he got the needle but was smiling seconds later and i hugged him so tight. He then fell asleep in my dads arms as we were leaving, hes such a good little trooper. Though he is very unsettled now and have had to give him some panadol twice to settle him, poor little monkey:( I get the feeling we're in for a rough night. I've bought some Novalac Sweet Dreams formula as if i just give him breast milk at night he is waking up more and more regularly, like every hour, and i just cant do it anymore, he was up 6 times last night and im losing it a bit. Im hoping with a fuller tummy at night he'll sleep longer but i tried to give him a small bottle of it before but i dont think hes keen on the taste:( guess we'll have to wait and see.
Tried DH with that throat spray stuff to reduce snoring and it works really well, so if anyone has a loud partner, i can recommend it :) Anyways, too tired to remember personals, but i hope everyone is well and getting more sleep than me.

Harri's in the same boat as Adrian, he was good after them and went to sleep but had a really bad afternoon, we gave him some panadol and he's now sound asleep, so I hope little Adrian settles for you :)
hamish got his in the afternoon. we gave him some panadol at 9 to help him settle and he was fine. a little unsettled over the next week but nothing a lot of TLC didnt fix!

Jellymaker & Misssawah, I hope your baby's are doing well and have a good nights sleep after their shots today. DS is having his tomorrow and I am a bit nervous about it. Will have to get some panadol just in case he needs it. I haven't given him anything yet, and really hope that I won't need to. I have been very torn with the whole immunisation thing, I just hope that I am doing the best thing for him.
Hi Beata, I hope Cameron starts to sleep better during the day for you. I have read that some baby's seen to cope with less sleep then others, I am sure to mum's detriment. Is he 'happy' during the day or is he wingy and you know his tired, but just won't sleep? I know when Liam has gone through growth spurts he has wanted to feed every 2.5 hrs during the day as well, then he'll have sleepy days, where I end up having to wake him to feed otherwise he'll want to feed reguarly during the night. Are you managing to have little sleeps yourself during the day while he is sleeping?
Mia, I hope your neighbours kids aren't still waking bubs up, if so I would definetly say something, they have kids, I am sure they would understand what it is like, don't tolerate that will you, particuarly when it can take so long to settle babies at this age.
A question to anyone who is B/F and have expressed to feed bubs from a bottle. I want to start feeding DS with a bottle every now and then so I can leave milk with someone to feed him so I can go out once is a while and know that he will have enough milk and will take the bottle. How do you know how much they need? Do you just have plenty of milk to start with, I assume they just pull off the bottle when they are finished like they would on the boob and then gauge how much it is?

Seems like lots of bubbas are getting their needles! Just thought I'd share, someone suggested to give the bub panadol about half an hour before the jabs. Apparently it takes the edge off. I take nurofen before my waxing and that seems to help so it makes sense to give a bit of pain relief to bubs too.
I haven't been getting my notifications either! Don't know what's going on but I've had little time on the computer anyway.
Megan, Cam is hot and cold with his unsettled days, I never know what I'm gonna get day to day! I have worked out that he is uncomfortable with wind when he is whingey, as he goes really stiff in his body and his body language tells me he's got wind. Lately mum has been making him some herbal infusion (I think it's dill????) and he is passing wind a lot more on it. So we'll see how he goes. GL with the needles tomorrow! I was torn too about Cam having them, but I asked around (ie my GP, OB etc) and everyone seemed to recommend them.
teresa, i've tried the rocking chair the other day and he fell asleep in my arms within 2 minutes. So we'll give it a go again if he is unsettled (almost gueranteed hehehehe :) )
con, AF is gone and I feel better, thanks love! It was sooooo weird haing it again, lol!
Jelly, hope Adrian has a good night, keep giving him the panadol every 4 hours for 24 hours. That's what they told me...
Missawah, Cam is also 5.5 kg, I can't keep carrying him around for long, my back is killing me!! Glad your little Harri is on track and doing well :)

Must have been the day for needles today :( I will admit I cried when bub started crying, and I think I was more traumatised then her - she settled down quicker than I did! Slept well when we got home, had a cranky afternoon with lots of cuddles, but is now sound asleep and hopefully we'll have a good night. I do have panadol in the cupboard but don't think we'll need it, I haven't given her any at all yet so I'll be happy if we can get through the next few days just with lots of extra tlc! Berry I have been really torn in the whole debate too, and had a huge chat with the doc again this morning, like you I hope I've done the best thing. Good luck with your lil one tomorrow.
As for the expressing, I've not long started offering the odd bottle too, so I can go out every now and then. It's hard because I have to express a bit after each feed to make up a full bottle (the first one I waited till I had about 150ml) and only when she has that and seems satisfied, can I then express a full feed in one go as I'm not worried that she's missing out iykwim? I seem to get about 150 - 180mls when I can express a full feed, and this does seem to satisfy her, but she really slows down at the end and normally leaves 20ish mls. I did read that you need to pace bf babies on the bottle, or they'll just keep drinking even if they're full. Not sure about how this all works, but it said to give them a short break half way through the bottle so they realise their little tummies are getting fuller. DD seems to fuss much more with the bottle teat and pulls on and off, but I think I might need a faster flow teat as I have a pretty quick let down and flow myself, plus it's a big change from the nipple. I should give her a chance though, we've only done 4 bottles over the last 2 weeks ha ha

human bean- i worry about expressing and not leaving enough for grace's next feed as well. I have only expressed twice, just so there is some milk in the freezer in case of an emergency. I have also heard that breastfeed babies find it hard to realize when they are full because our breasts only supply them with what they need. I'm worried if i feed her to much on the bottle she won't want the boob anymore!
~b~- lol! how much does the morning after pill cost?
berry- maybe express the full contents of one breast to get an idea of how much milk bub drinks from that breast. Your breasts adjust to how much milk the baby needs, the more he feeds, the more milk they produce- the less he feeds, the less milk you will produce. Does he feed from both breasts in one sitting, or just one?

Afm- i am suprised how much grace has come to love her bath. As soon as i strip her off her face lights up! She kicks and splashes in there for ages and cracks the biggest tanty when i get her out to dress her! Hubby likens her tantrums to a motor car...she starts off in first gear, shifts to second, third and then if i haven't finished dressing her quick enough she kicks into 4th! lol! I can't help but laugh at her, she sounds so funny!

if this helps, the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles have a teat designed so that bf babies can swap between the bottle and the breast with no issues. they also have an anti colic valve on them too
Well I hope all the bubbies that had their needles had as good a night as we did - DD crashed at about 7.15pm and didn't wake until 3.30am! That's the longest sleep we've had, although she did have a pretty cantankerous afternoon so was probably exhausted. She sleepily fed off the right side, went straight back to sleep and then my left boob woke me up at 6.30 this morning ready to explode! ha ha Poor little thing, must have really taken it out of her though, or maybe we're having another leap and she'll start sleeping for longer? Who knows!
teresa I'm glad you've recommended that teat - that's the one we're using. I was so confused as to which bottle to buy so I simply stood there and thought which one looks the most like a boob/nipple, and that's the one that did! I only bought 2, as I think that's all I'll need, and I have an avent electric pump - so much easier than the manual one. I think I just have to give her time to get used to it, which doesn't help if I'm not offering it very often - catch 22 really.
Con, I worry too she won't want the boob after the bottle, but I'm relaxing a little about it - she loves her feeds with me and it doesn't seem to affect them so far. Does your little one get all excited and start wriggling and smiling and even grunting (sometimes!) when it's feed time and you assume the position? Or is that just my little piglet? ha ha She loves her bath too and could spend ages in there - she has from day one and we always joke it's because she was born in the bath it's all she knows ;)

hb - i have the tommee tippee manual pump too! in fact all of our stuff is tommee tippee lol. it was hugely recommended by our midwife at our antenatal class so we thought we would go with that. our steriliser is electric (we had to get that one as DH loves his gadgets lol.) i love the manual pump. made me stay awake at 1am when i had to express with Hamish being in the special care nursery still when i came home! i found the electric pumps didnt get as much out as the manual one did. thats what i found anyway.
hey girls - sorry I have been MIA lately, I tried to go into this site about a week ago and it went all distorted (I was having computer probs, once again~)
Well the day sleep thing, I am letting Matilda stay up for 1 1/2 hours max each time, i get her up, change her and feed her, then play then as it is getting closer to the 1 1/2 hours I wrap her up again and put her back down. She seems to know now that it is bed time then and during the day I am getting about 4 hours from when she wakes previously. The only thing is from abut 4.00 pm onwards to say 8.30 pm she is awake and really unsettled from 6.30 pm onwards. But will then sleep until anywhere from 5.00 am to 7.30 am - so she is a great sleeper. During the day I am not even looking out for tired signs because I work on that hour and a half period. she also does wake up during that time, but my friend told me before I had her that they wake in cycles like us. and the Ped confimed this when she was born and told me that they are on about 20 min cycles or something, so she may not really be awake when she looks it. So I took that on board and if she wakes in that time I leave her. She usually is straight back asleep.
I used to leave her longer than that time and was looking out for signs but they were really mixed and then she was really cranky and harder to get to sleep, So the 1 1/2 hour thing is really working for us.
Sorry if it sounds like I am gloating, not meant to be, just telling you what I do.
Misswah - sounds like Hems. You can get internal and external. TMI - you can get the applicator that injects up there from the chemist. I had them and it worked wonders!
Growbags - are the bomb - I have one and Matilda just loves it!
Still on formula here, just using s26 newborn - not the gold or anything now and there is heaps less throwing up.
I have a long bub too. Early last week - at a bit over 7 weeks she was 59 cm and 5.1 kg! My DH is 6 ft 3 and there is height on my side too (I am 5 ft 8) so I think she will be a decent height.

Hey everyone! Just got back from getting Tiah's immunisations and she has gone straight to sleep so I can actually type a reply for once!
31becc - I am going to try the 1 1/2 hour thing with Tiah! I am waiting for tired signs and her day routine is all over the shop! We have the cranky time from about 5 - 9pm.... and then sleep until 5-6am... but in saying that cranky for Tiah is really just her wanting cuddles and being vocal when she is put down.
human bean - I was offerring Tiah a bottle of expressed milk each night, but it became such a nightmare I stopped :redface: I am going to be trying to re introduce the bottle in the next few days, but I must admit it is nice knowing she only wants the boobie! She has started stroking my back while she feeds.... omg I think it is wrong how much I love that! haha
Con - So cool that Grace loves the bath! Do you just have her in the bath with you or one of the baby baths? I got a tummy tub when I was pregnant - but even though she likes it now... I find it hard to actually wash her in it! So I got a fisher price bath from Big W and it is CRAP.. it has this hard ridge in the middle that digs into her back and she hates it!
b - I laughed so hard at your "expensive shag". I went to get the mini pill from the pharmacy last week and totally forgot to pick it up! I really will have to go get it one day......
berry - I was told to express 100 - 120ml each time and then keep them in those sizes. That way if they want more you can get another lot out, but if they only want 100mls you are not wasting any ebm???
Teresa - I dont get notifications either! Actually - I get them for B and for Con... and thats all! Very weird?
Tiah has just started letting us hold her over our shoulders (Up until now it was cradle hold ONLY) and it is so nice to get those cuddles or lay on the couch with her on my chest. She is very smiley and we had a bubble afternoon yesterday... I just set her up on the back lawn and we blew bubbles around the yard until she started to get sleepy.... she loved it - I think there was even an attempt at a giggle at one point :D
Oh and ladies? Bambini Pronto has grobags for $25 off atm. I got two for Tiah and might get some summer ones as well while they are cheap, they really are awesome!
meercat - my mum bought us our bath. i think she got it from big w and its a roger armstrong one. there is no ridges in the bottom at all. only problem is hamish is getting too long for it and will have to be put in the big bath soon. but for now it does the trick! its white and has blue soft grips on both sides of the bath. doesnt help me much as when its full i cant lift it! so i fill and empty it with a bucket. lol. thank god its got a plug so all i have to do is drag it to the end of the table then put the bucket underneath.

afm, Hamish has a cold. gave him a bath before and put some euky bear rub on his chest to help with his breathing. has a congested chest and a runny nose. will have to keep an eye on that. went to lunch with a friend from work today. was telling her that i was feeling lonely at the moment and i dont hear from any of my friends. she said that she will call me next week and we will catch up more often. she has a little girl who is 9 months old. one of my closest friends is really struggling with getting pg and keeps miscarrying. anyway she seems to be avoiding me at the moment. every time i mention we should catch up she says she is really tired or busy. then the other night i said that i missed her and we should catch up soon so she puts up a link for a gymbaroo thats 25 mins away from my house. she said that i could take Hamish there and go meet other mums with kids. it would be nice and i know she had good intentions but i dont think that she realises she is hurting me by avoiding me. sorry for the rant but just having a down moment. i am finding very few of my friends are keeping in contact now.
