hehe! i want to be the first! woo hoo!

anyhoo, hamish is sick at the moment with croup. had a chat with the doc as hamish has had a cough for the last few months and its more prominent at night especially with the cold air. doc seems to think its asthma. gave me a ventolin puffer for him to try out. so far it seems to be working. fingers crossed it keeps working for him. doesnt help that he is sick either but its giving his little lungs a boost.

hope all is well with everyone else xx

Teresa - sorry to hear that Hamish is sick. I wish him a speedy recovery. It sounds very similar to what Fraser has - he coughs a bit through the day but it's really bad at night. I'm having problems giving him the ventolin - how does Hamish do with it? Fraser won't let the spacer near him, but he does like to take a puff from the inhaler, but laughs when he does it and it comes back out of his mouth! I scrubbed his room within an inch of it's life and have been leaving his window open too but not seeing any benefit from it as yet and he's been on it a week.

mia - i have to hold hamish to get the ventolin into him. when you got the spacer did u buy the little mask attachment to go over his face? i hate pinning him down but its the only way to get it into him. plus the more he cries and screams the more that goes into his lungs! i feel horrible but i know it has to be done. plus i am used to it having to do it to the poor kids at work. no wonder they give you daggers after you do anything to them lol.

he had a temp again last night. i think the croup has now turned into bronchiolitis. but at least it should start to clear now. the ventolin helps which is good. the cleaner comes today so his room will get a good vacuum.

Oh Teresa - I really hope Hamish is on the mend now - poor little man! Yes, the spacer we got has a mask on it but he hates it. I didn't really think about him screaming and getting more into his lungs - makes sense! I guess I will just have to try the pinning down - going to have to toughen up, especially when it's for the greater good! I've started vacuuming and dusting his room on a daily basis - we shall see what the next few weeks bring!

I might give that a try also - thanks for the tip Rooey! Is it different to a vapouriser? I think the vapouriser was what started our problems!

They are the same thing, you can use them with just water in them though. That way you're making the air humid without the eucalyptus-type additive they recommend. Just using it with water shouldn't give you any issues, most people benefit from having more moisture in the air, especially at night and if you have heating/cooling going.

    Congrats Nat!

Teresa how is Hamish? When Jemma is sick I put euky bear on her feet and then socks. I swear it helps. Worth a shot anyway!

    Hi everyone else :-)

    hi everyone.

hamish is better. still has a cough. we found he isnt coughing as much at night at the moment with the ventolin. but he is waking up overnight at the moment. i have to cuddle him for a few minutes then he goes back into his cot no problems and goes back to sleep. hopefully its just because he is sick and he gets out of it soon. tho we are finding he wont go to be now at his usual time of 730 and he is staying up until 830 then gettting up at 630am! stupid daylight savings

    hope everyone else is good!

    Hi ladies,

Wow feels like I haven't posted for ages. I keep thinking I will do it when I'm on my computer rather than my phone, so I can do personals. But these days I never seem to be on my computer.

Teresa - I hope Hamish is better. I took Angus to the Dr last Friday after They called me to say he had fallen and hit his head. He had a cut just under his eyebrow and they put some glue on it (which he picked off after his nap). Anyway, while I was there the dr asked how long he had his runny nose and then gave me some antibiotics for it. I feel bad, because I wouldn't have taken him there if it wasn't for his head.

Can you believe it's so close to Christmas? I haven't really started my shopping, but I really need to do it on Friday, so I can go without Angus. He refuses to sit in the pram nowadays, but always runs off..

Anyway, I hope everyone is good.

How's your moving going Teresa? One of my Army wife friends has just moved from Darwin to Wagga a few months ago. She's an EN and her name is Meika.

Thanks Rooey - I hope you did too!

    How is everyone going?

We had loads of people staying with us over Christmas with the last person leaving tomorrow. Then we are going to the coast for 3 nights which should be good. The day after we get back is my 12 week scan, so that's exciting.

Angus is going really well. He got so spoiled at Christmas and loved having everyone here. He had a bit of a cough and runny nose before Christmas. I took him to the Dr because he cut just above his eye at daycare. The Dr asked about his nose and ended up giving me antibiotics. It didn't really go away & we took him again the other day, but it was a different Dr. He told us to give him allergy relief such as Claritin?? I don't think it's really doing anything but we'll see. Since this all started he's really gone off his food and it's a struggle to get him to eat. Not sure if it's because he's sick or just being stubborn. He's going through a really independent phase and hates being helped. If I open anything for him, we refuses to eat it! He has to try himself first...

Anyway, I hope everyone is going well :-)
