Babies Born ~ March 1st-15th 2010 #2

Hi girls,
Quick reply from me, we're packing for a very early start Saturday morning flying Perth-Melbourne, Melbourne- Auckland Tuesday, Auckland to WEllington next Friday, Christchurch follwing Monday, Melbourne Thursday, Perth Saturday!
Becasue I am leaving, work ahs also gone nuts, its hardly leave if you just do 2 weeks worth of work before you go.
Oh well, a holiday is definitley in order.
I am so hearing you guys on the being hungry while breastfeeding, only sadly, it means I do stack on weight too. Daniel is a big eater, I think he's about 7kg, must get him weighed again, 6kg at 6 weeks.
He's also discovered his fist and drools, bubbles and froths. So funny.
I'm loving the smiles and playtime. DD is really lovely with him too

Cass - Good luck with the move to separate bedroom. My son slept in cot in his own room from day 1 and slept through from 8 weeks - but he was a chubby boy - who learnt to suck his thumb efficiently by 8 weeks and used it to self settle. Soph is still in with me in my room and is up twice a night - but she is a small little thing who hasn't mastered the sucking. With my son, his little sounds caused me to let down constantly in the night, so I needed to be separated to get some sleep. He would have a little cry in his cot and stop...only 5 secs. With Soph I don't let her get to a cry so I don't wake my toddler who is a light sleeper. I was wondering the other night if she would sleep longer away from me...good luck with the move and let us know how it goes.

Can't believe it took me over a week again to get back on here - where has all my time gone???

Time for some personals first (if I can navigate my way back and forth with this new BB layout!!)...
Cass - I too feed Sophie when she first starts to wake, rather than letting her wake up completely. She always goes straight back to sleep which is wonderful as DS used to stay awake for ages after his night sleeps, which meant I did too! Hope Robert does well in his own room - we put Sophie in her room from day 1 as I knew that if I didn't, it would be so hard to do it later on. I too have been really hungry, and haven't lost any more weight! I just want to nibble all day, and I'm fairly certain that Sophie isn't going through a growth spurt at moment!!
Breesa - I'm so envious of your Gym membership. I STILL haven't got back on the eat healthy and exercise program, despite saying a couple of weeks ago I was going too. My excuse - sleep deprivation/no energy, but of course by actually getting some exercise I would start to get more energy, so I really just need to get off my big fat bum!! I love the idea of Zumba - have a couple of similar dance DVD's which I used to do every now and again. I used to do JAM at the gym which was basicly Dancercise, and I LOVED it!! Have also been known to do adult Jazz at one of the dance studios in town which was good, but I felt fat and unco-ordinated next to all the ones who have been doing dance for years!
PollyA - have a lovely holiday in NZ. We went there for our honeymoon for 10 days and I would love to go and see more!
LilsJula - hope Sophie is going well and continuing to self settle. My Sophie does it really well going to sleep, but does wake when the dummy falls out and needs to have it put back in. Will be trying to get rid of the silly dummy sometime soon I think before she gets too addicted to it.
Feijoa Mum - hope Peppar is doing well and that you haven't had too many of those horrid days. Touchwood - I haven't really had that with Sophie yet, only a couple of hours here and there, but generally she's really good.
Thrilled - I hope Willow is being a good little girl and giving you a break every now and again. It can be very hard when you have a needy child, but don't worry - we will all go through it with our bubs at some stage!!
Jandals - hope Toby is doing well. Your DH sounds like a wonderful man to beable to organise such a lavish birthday treat - sounds divine!! I think I will get the flu shot when I go to the dr next week. My DS just had his Swine Flu (as both DH and I have had) as I figure it is the only way to protect Sophie.
Deedles - hope you are feeling better and that Lennox is going well. I too have had to use the sucky thing on Sophie and she hates it, screams her head off, but at least she is heads more settled after as she hates having a snotty nose.
Hope everyone else is doing well and bubs are all good.

In true form Sophie has just woken and demanding a feed so I will come back soon and post about us!!

Back again. Is there a better way to reply to these posts, other than the Reply to thread and reply buttons? Doesn't seem to give a very big window to write in and it doesn't scroll very well!!

Anyway, back to us... Sophie finally had her 8wk vaccinations yesterday and was really good during and after, which was a relief. She is still suffering terrible cradle cap but have been managing it well with rubbing grapeseed oil into it of a night and then washing the flakes out in the bath the next morning. otherwise, she has been a bit snotty and hates having saline sprayed up it and then the asperator put up her nose. Otherwise, she has started making heaps of noises - cooing and karing all the time. No laughter yet but I'm sure it will happen when she's ready.
I took her to the osteopath on tuesday and it appears she has a shortened muscle near her collarbone which affects her neck and left arm. The osteopath, a lovely irish guy, was fantastic with her and was so gentle, talked to her, and made me feel very confident that it will go away with a few exercises which I do three times a day. We will be going back again on thurs for another session and hopefully it will be fixed. I have already noticed her moving her head better and laying on both sides while asleep. He thinks that it was caused by my heart shaped uterus, when she was descending towards the birth canal in the later stages of the pregnancy her head was on an angle to her body, with her head tilted or facing the left side as she does now. Anyway, hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Other than that we are all good. My inlaws arrived on thursday and have taken up residence on our couches again (which is a bugger when you need to sit there to breastfeed!!) My DS is doing really well since his grommets went in. Turns out sucking on a dummy and lying down having a bottle from 12mths of age can all help cause ear infections. DS was still enjoying a bottle in bed at night, so that has had to stop (which he's not to pleased with!)
Anyway, that's enough from me. Hopefully I'll get back on here again soon.

I also got two padded pumpkin patch AIO suits for winter for $10.50 - both brand new.

Lou - Im lucky that I had a gym membership before pregnancy, so I kept it up throughout and just put a short hold on it. Having it sitting there is also a motivation to get to the gym and use it... even though it a cheap one it still costs $$

Well, we have had an interesting 3 days.
Ciaran got a bug from the gym creche and started vomiting after feeds on Friday arvo (while at my office on a visit... nice work!). By Sat lunchtime he was fine, but I was starting to feel average and by early evening i was vomiting. Then 6hrs later DH got sick too!
So anyway, after spending most of Sat night sick and Sunday recovering we are a household on the mend. Today I have been a cleaning nazi (after 3 days of no house cleaning the place was a bit messy!) so have been getting busy with washing, kitchen, vaccumng and tidying up. House will be sparkling by dinner time at this rate!

So my planned Sat night away from Ciaran for a few hrs to go to a dance party near our place with my old group of dancing friends was canned due to being sick... and my social engagements alone are so few and far between its such a shame.

OH and guess who is 12 weeks today! Cant believe my boy is 3 months old... Wowsers!

How cold has it been lately!
I really hate the cold and winter so I am not looking forward to it getting even colder. The wind in Brissy has been like ice.

Finally we got Lennox's vaccinations last Wed. He was a tough little cookie and did cry a bit but a second later he was all smiles and giggles again.
He has been a bit under the weather but nothing like DS1 who vomited and had a fever for a week.

I love ebay too! I don't really need to buy any more boys clothes as I have TOO many of them! I am still trying to get rid of them all! I have 2 large tubs of them and it keeps getting bigger.
I was thinking of having a stall at the babies and kids market but I just don't think I could find the time.

Lennox still has bad cradle cap too! I can't help but be naughty and pick it off. Will have to try using the oil on his head.

LilsJula your so lucky your DS slept the whole night. Neither of my DS's have. DS1 still doesn't and it is driving me craze. We need to get a king king size bed to fit us all in it!

I went to a body combat class yesterday and absolutely loved it. Although I felt completely uncoordinated and "floppy" compared to all those superfit bods in the class I couldn't help smiling like an idiot while working out. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm going again next Sunday and, I might actually take in another class on Wednesday night so I don't seize-up. The surprise of the day was that I wasn't as unfit as I thought I would be considering I've done no exercising (apart from walking, housework and sex ;)) since a week before bubs was born. My biggest concern was having leaky boobs :redface:.

I felt awesome after doing weights a few times over recent weeks, its such a great mental thing to know you have started exercising again and dont seem as unfit as expected :)
I worried about my boobs to, but they have never leaked once so its all good.

re Zumba - ladies i found a Zumba exercise set to download for free on the web, will see if is any good and let you know.

They're running Zumba classes at my gym on Saturday mornings - they started last week.

Cass - Yeah for doing your class at the gym!!! V motivated...Well done! Who looks after bubs for you???

Bree - Please let us know how the downloaded Zumba goes...that could be a very good option! How are you feeling now and bubs???

Soph's been an absolute shocker at night!! Terrible trouble getting her into bed - then usually waking around midnight, then 3, 4 and 6!! Hope this stops soon....I am hoping it is just a growth spurt!

LJ, I'm only going to the gym when DH is at home. Don't quite feel like leaving Robert in a creche at the moment .... he may be ready but I'm not just yet. Gym is going to be my time out so I can be "me". When I get home I'm more than ready to be mummy again and shower kisses all over my little man.

Cass - Good on DH. I haven't left Soph yet with DH. If I leave her with him to get the washing off the line - she is crying by the time I come back. The other night, DH bathed Soph and I showered toddler for a change and Soph had a big cry but she was giggling by the end. Maybe I need to swap bathtime more often to get things going. Maybe I should just take the plunge and have a time on the weekend and go and do something on my own. How did Robert's move to the cot go?

Soph has taken up having the late evening and early morning feed again - and she is really having big feeds....so I guess she is hungry (not just a settling issue). Last night she woke at 11pm and came off for a rest, so I went to sit her up to burp her (as I thought she was finished) and she firmly let me know that she wanted more!!! At least that gives me hope re sleeping times returning to longer if this is a growth spurt. Has the growth spurts disrupted anyone else's sleep?

Soph has really started grabbing at and holding her toys - it is like her hands have finally opened. She is really good at sitting up (can hold herself up on her own for a few seconds but them flops forward). She is shocking on her tummy and not pushing up on her arms as yet but she is lifting her head from side to side. No sign of a roll yet. She loves standing on her legs!!! What other bubs up to?

How did Robert go with the move Cass?

LJ Soph sounds like Hannah cries for me all the time even with DF, we went to mums house on the weekend my sister was there and was so looking forward to some cuddles but Hannah screamed everytime she held her, i felt so sorry for my sis , i think she thought that bubs didnt like her which of course is not the case ..

Hannah holds her toys as well, skakes a rattle , hates laying down wants to be up all the time, she can sit up then flops as well, she holds her head up and lifts her arms while on her tummy and can roll to one side

Oh my little girl is growing up:(

She has been sleeping a bit better last few nights but we have good nights and bad nights
In Regards to exercise i was lucky and didnt put an weight except for water weight which i lost , i do have a little bit of a floppy tum which i honestly cant be bothered with caring about yet, we go for walks in the pram every day which we both love..i just like feeling fit and healthy which walking does for me. i wouldnt mind getting some weights for my arms , i feel like i have floppy arms when i move them hahahahha

I am still feeling so tired all the time which i hate , its an awful feeling it really is

I find it so funny, when we put Hannah on change table nappy off to change her she often does boy wees that go everywhere like a little boy lol...

She is laughing all the time smiling all the time and has so much to say ..we poke our tongue out at her and keep doing it and she copies us :) if u havent tried it pls do its sooo cute when they copy u :)

so much washing to do again agghhh but it looks like rain again so not sure how i will go with it..

She also will be feeding and often look up at me and smile lol while nipple in moth hahha soooo soo cute :)

I feel like i am cutting her nails so often they grow so fast and she scratchs her face if i dont

Bree - I hope you have all recovered okay from the bug you had, it must be awful having everyone sick at once.

Deedles - hearing you on the cold weather. Its been freezing here, I'm so glad we have a wood heater or I'd never get the washing dry.

LilsJula - Lacie loves tummy time mostly but has started trying to roll from front to back when she's on there. She loves being held up in a standing position and just tries to bounce all the time. She's also trying really hard to sit up!

shell - lol, Lacie does those boy wees too, its so funny!

Lacie has started crying so best go, just wanted to quickly say I've tried Zumba a few times now and love it, although I'm so uncoordinated I must look fairly amusing. It certainly makes me feel good though!

P.S. Lacie had her physio appointment yesterday about her collarbone, they are very happy with how she's going. Apparently she has a very small flat spot on one side of her head (I hadn't noticed it as its tiny) and she is preferring to have her head to one side so we've been given some suggestions to get her moving her head both ways. She already alternates sides when sleeping but just need to get her to turn her head side to side while changing her nappy or during playtimes. She has one more follow up appointment in august to make sure that she's weight bearing on both sides equally when she's on her tummy (she is at the moment but just in case it changes) and to make sure she's reaching out with both hands equally.

Hi Shell - Glad there is another bub like Soph!!! Glad to hear Hannah is doing so well - she's a clever girl! I haven't done any exercise at all and like you I feel constantly tired at the minute. However, I am currently wearing pre-pregnancy (before any on my pregnancies - 6 in total) jeans and they are baggy - so not worried about it. But feel the need to exercise for my mental well being really.

Roxxie - Lacie is clever rolling!!! Glad physio went well.

Would love tips from anyone with two kids - it is driving me insane in the day with toddler constantly waking Soph up - He just did after 30mins of sleep and now she refuses to go back to sleep!!! GRRRRR
