Skye, C does that too... Nip will be in his mouth / on his lips and he'll shake his head around and even let out a little whimper, so I'll help him out and bring his head closer thinking he can't reach it. But no, he does the same thing. It's quite funny watching him do it!

Play time is a bit hit and miss here. Sometime he will feed, sleep, feed, sleep and other times he will wake up full of energy. I agree with Buffy on the cluster feeding tiring A out...

Buff, your SIL is a freakin genius! That makes total sense... I'm so glad here that W is settling better hon. Fantastic news!!

ABA was great this morning.. So nice to get out of the house and talk to others in similar situations. I met 2 other ladies who are doing the dairy-free thing, so it was nice to brainstorm some meal ideas!

Mumma & baby's 2nd outing was a success! He cried for probably the first 5-10 mins, but it definitely wasn't a 'real' cry. He slept the entire time and starting crying for food in the car on the way home.

He's been very cuddly since we got home... Feed, sleep, wake up but happy to lie on the couch / me without getting upset.

okay, without wanting to jinx things - both children asleep & DP has gone out for a bit so i can sneak on the computer! gosh, i hope i don't miss anyone - this is a busy thread :lol:

miss e - i've been using a close carrier. i tried a peanut shell with DS but it didn't suit either of us so i bought a CC while i was PG. so far i love it - DD goes pretty much straight to sleep & seems comfy. i also feel better being out & about as i feel like she's protected from germs & any random people peering in her face or touching her!! i'm also thinking about getting something like an ergo or a manduca as i think they might be good longer term?

peanutter - great news on your 6 week check up, must feel good to have that official all clear :D glad to hear too that your DS2 doesn't have whooping cough, i hope he's over his cold soon though.

elocin - sounds like the ABA meeting was a great success! sometimes i think shopping centres are just too stimulating for them - even for toddlers with all the fluro lights & ride on thingys. how fab to be getting smiles...makes things just that bit easier!

buffy - sorry, no advice on expressing - i have never been able to master it! not that i tried particularly hard mind you! my guess would be that miss w is probably getting enough BM, but i also don't see anything wrong with introducing a comp feed if it works for you. i have a friend who gave her DS a FF before bed each night & he still BF till he was around 12 months (and she instigated weaning, not him) so it can work.

skybie - i hear you on the 2.5 year olds! DS has recovered from tantrums over the new arrival but has more than bounced back to his normal self :lol: we're not having much play time here - but DD is still not quite 3 weeks. she doesn't always settle after feeds but has been enjoying lots of cuddles. i still reckon just take their lead & see what happens.

sararose - yay for a longer sleep! there was a time (pre-kids) when the thought of a 4.5 hour stretch of sleep would have sounded like torture to me - funny how things change, isn't it? now 4.5 hours & i'm almost ready to get up for the day :lol:

nickers - hope you & R had a great time at MG. can't wait to hear how it went!

afm, still plodding along. it's lovely having DP home but i sort of feel like things aren't the real deal until he goes back to work! i'm feeling slightly housebound at the moment what with a toddler that naps for a couple of hours each afternoon & keeley doing some cluster feeding in the mornings but i'm okay with it because i know it's not for too long (well, the cluster feeding - DS can keep napping for months!!). that said, we have been out a few times in the mornings so it's not as bad as all that! it was my birthday yesterday & DP's mum's as well so we went there for dinner. there were a few people & keeley coped really well & didn't seem to mind having cuddles from lots of different people. now we just need to eat all the cake we seem to have & then i can focus properly on being healthier!

Far out ladies, you have been going off in this thread. It has taken me forever to read through 11 pages, but has given me something to do during night feeds.

I have finally made it in here to post after 5 weeks, My little mate Nate William was born on the 15th of March, and time has just flown by.


Buffy, sorry to hear that you have been having a tough time. It's fantastic that you have been brave enough to ask for some help, that's a big thing. You sound like you are doing a fantastic job and Willow is a gorgeous little girl. Nice that you are getting some gorgeous morning smiles it must make it all feel worth it. Just remember to not put expectations or pressure on yourself that things should be a certain way. Every baby is different and every mummy is different and copes with things differently. When ever you are feeling down just look at the precious little bundle that you have brought into the world and give yourself a pat on the back, she is beautiful and you should be very proud. Big hugs to you and I hope you are feeling better soon xx Good work on discovering the white noise app, and thanks for the tip about overstimulation with patting and rocking, I will keep that in mind!

Nickers, I saw the pics of little Rykers hormone rash, poor little man. I hope it is clearing now. Love the smurf cake too, that's a huge achievement at home alone with 3 kidlets!

Hi to everyone else, sorry I haven't done personals for you all. Sounds like everyone is going really well and all our babies are growing up way too fast.

Well my little man is out of newborn nappies as of this week. After 4 leaky nappies and total outfit changes in a row I decided that I had to get the bigger size. It's sad :( I am using the woolworths select brand nappies at the minute. They were recommended by a friend. So far so good I haven't had any leaks.

I am using a baby bjorn carrier. Bub goes to sleep in it pretty much straight away and has his face snuggled in my boobies, which is nice until I meet someone I know down town and the want to check him out and I have to lean forward to get his face away and they get an eye full of my boobs. Okay well maybe not an eyefull i'm not that big!

Bleeding has all but stopped here too, not using anything but I over did it a couple of days ago as I lifted my DS1 and I had just a bit of discoloured stuff for a day or so.

We are going pretty well, my DS1 loves his little brother, has about a 10 second hold and kiss a few times a day which is really cute. He asks to hold him, gives him a cuddle and a kiss does the whole ahhh sound when he cuddles him and then pushes him away! He hasn't played up too much and will sit next to me on the couch and I can read him a book while I feed. I can't do the whole floor play for bub around him too much though as he is a bit rough and unpredicatable.

Feeding is going good now, he takes about 20-30 mins to feed and doesn't fall asleep anymore. Between 2 and 4 weeks he gain 800g! I was very happy after a slow start, where he would fall asleep after 5 mins and I couldn't wake him and he wasn't having any gains. Overnight we are generally going down 9-10ish up at 1.30 and 5.30 and then 8.30. Day times he likes snuggles, sometimes he will have one good sleep. He has been asleep now for 2.5hrs, but he tends to wake up from this sleep and not settle now til 9 or 10 and wants to feed every couple of hours.

We have had a few smiles but he isn't as smiley yet as his big bro was. He is generally pretty chilled. He poops on me a lot when I am changing his bum, it literally squirts out. He makes lots of funny noises that sound like a possum and so he is now known as "possum squirt" lol. I love him heaps and heaps and heaps.

Well I am rambling on so I better go and do something constructive like fold some washing or do some ironing (over-rated).

I am still here but finding getting computer time difficult and when I do, it is mainly trying to keep my poor blog going.

It sounds like you are all doing so well with your bubbas. I love seeing all the little faces on facebook getting chubbier.

Ali is doing really well now but has had a couple of massive vomits recently that are concerning me. She basically throws up a whole feed. Today she vomited so much my clothes were soaked through to my undies (only socks survived). I thought it was because we had to give her the medication but she did it again today which didn't make sense. It is not like a normal excess milk chuck it is like she is gagging like adults do when they throw up. She did three projective vomits onto me and she gets a bit sweaty. I am thinking of calling Health Direct if she does it again given her history of being unwell. She seems fine otherwise and it was Tuesday night the last time it happened (before this time). None of my other girls have ever been this bad.

Anyway I just wanted to pop in and say hi. Will try to keep up a bit more as I really miss being a part of this group.

Lisa- poor Ali with the vomitting, wouldnt hurt to call health line, id be watching for other signs like wet and dirty nappies and her temperature. otherwise does she seem in pain before she vomits? like back arching etc? ds1 had really bad reflux and used to throw up so much i was convinced it was his whole feed and even tried to catch his vomits to try and see how much was coming back up (unsucesfully caught any vomit though lol)

Sloane- happy birthday!! sounds like a nice dinner out for you. bliss getting both kids down to sleep at the same time! i wish my big boys would still have a nap lol i used to cheer when ds2 was a bub and i got them both to sleep at the same time

smekko- good to hear from you and to hear how little Nate is going. sibling love it just priceless isnt it. my big boys love Ryker so much, they always tell him how much they love him, that he is the cutest baby in the world, always wanting cuddles and kisses!

Nic- glad to hear ABA meet went well

mothers group went well. there was only 3 of us. 1 called in sick and 2 cancelled cause of the rain (although it didnt rain the entire time we were there) so the other 2 mums are first time mums and both had girls. one girl was 4 1/2months old as she missed the start of MG over xmas. anyway its only at the clinic every second week and next week we decided to meet at a pram friendly cafe. hoping the other mums decide to come as i fear if its only the 3 of us it might dwindle away (as often there will be 1 or 2 miss a week due to sickness etc... i did feel a little like i know all this stuff, talking about setteling, crying etc but not wanting to sound like a know it all i only imputed when i thought it might be of use to the others. anyway i'll go next week and see how it goes. i miss my original mums group from melbourne. there was 8 of us and caught up regulary and a lot of them still do 6yrs on and kids are good friends.

Ok, I'm going to apologise in advance for the pity post. Things here have turned a bit crap in the last couple of days. Coop's has been quite unsettled, I thought it was the cabbage I ate initially, but now I'm not so sure... It seems like he's got lots of wind, but then he's also wanting to feed a lot, lot more, so I wonder if it is a growth spurt or something else...

But, it's what's going on with DS1 that is really getting me down. Tonight and last night he has ended up in absolute hysterics. He is so fragile at the moment and it is breaking my heart to see him this way. I think he is really angry at me, and I can't blame him. His whole little world has been turned upside down in the last 3 weeks. And all the changes are just compounded by the fact that I can't pick him up and carry him. I just feel awful for what this is doing to him and the state he is in at the moment. I keep telling myself that it will pass, and I know it will... It's just really tough at the moment, with Cooper being so unsettled and the lack of sleep and not being able to eat chocolate...

Me Lisa I hope Ali is better, if you're worried why not call health direct wouldn't hurt. If its projectile vomiting or she eats stressed its it I would get it checked out, saying that though dd1 was a happy checker an on occasion would drench us with vomit th continue happily as if nothing happened

PN - Glad your 6 week check up went well. How is your little man feeling now?

Sararose - We are massaging DD's neck as she has a tight muscle on one side which is pulling her head to one side.We saw the MCHN yesterday and she said that breastfeeding is one of the best things for it as it forces them to turn their heads to the other side for a period of time. She hasn't got a flat side yet but she did have a bit of overlap in the head bones which should resolve itself as her head gets bigger. Have you taken any of your other DD's to an osteopath? We live rural and have a physio but would have to travel to go to a chiropractor or osteo and I'm not quite sure which one would be most suitable. Hopefully it will get better with massage but I guess if her spine isn't aligned properly we'd need to see someone.
Yay for takeaway candle lit dinner! Sounds like a great habit to get into :)

Nickers - My mum always made our cakes growing up and I'm the same, DD1's b'day was on the 6th and she "helped" ie. licked the spoon and ate the lollies for decorations on top of the cake. It's a nice tradition to have I reckon. Miss M also has a rash on her face, pretty sure it's baby acne. It started on her cheeks all the way around to the back of her head, the bumps aren't as red now but are still there and she has more come up around her nose and mouth. I can understand why you want to reschedule the photos. Mothers group sounds like a good morning out. Sometimes it's nice to get out of the house and talk to people going through the same stages with their little ones.

Mylitta - Good tip with the mirror. We have a mobile on the change table that we swapped to the other side as it has music and night light in the part that attaches to the change table and that seems to be working.

Zilly - I also had really sore and a little bit of cracking in my nipples in the beginning. Mainly due to the fact that she wanted to suck all the time and a little bit of bad attachment. Even though it hurts to pull her off, it will definitely be better for you and your nipples in the long run correcting her attachment. I'm hoping to get back into walking too. Haven't decided whether to put DD1 in the pram and DD2 in the carrier or let DD1 ride her bike or scooter. Actually DD2 hasn't been in the pram yet, so far she's been in the sling for every outing we've been on.

Elocin -Yay for smiles! It's such a beautiful thing when they start smiling :) Hope you are getting some sleep! DD is pretty good and will feed then go straight back to sleep overnight. It helps having her in bed with us too. 3-4 hourly wouldn't be so bad if you weren't wide awake for an hour each time! Great news that the ABA meeting went well and you met some people in the same boat as you.

Skybie - Some days DD has lots of awake time and others she will just sleep and feed all day to the point where I get worried that she won't sleep at night. So far she hasn't kept me up all night but we don't generally go to bed til late, anywhere between 9 and 12. I'm so hearing you on the toddler issues. DD1 has been through alot. 3 weeks staying in a rented house waiting for bub to be born then back home but with DF's parents here from overseas for 3 weeks and then DF going back to work on shift work alternating days and nights. The first lot of night shifts were horrible with screaming every night. She is generally pretty good but her fuse is alot shorter and thinner and she is quick to start screaming if she's upset. :hug: for everyone else with a tantruming toddler, fingers crossed all of the older siblings settle down soon. Yay for the new camera!

Sloane - I am the same! Waiting for her to stop sleeping and become difficult to settle like her sister was. Happy Birthday for yesterday!

Miss E - :hug: Hope things calm down with your DS1. I have been making a conscious effort to get down on DD1's level and give her cuddles throughout the day whenever I think of it. Not sure if it's helping her but it makes me feel better. We have a breeze baby ring sling and I use it everyday. I've never had DD in the cradle hold though, I only ever hold her upright in the froggy position. Nice and close to my chest wrapped in tight with her legs up to help with her wind. Is the Mini Monkey a pouch sling? We also have an ergo for when she gets bigger, I didn't have the infant insert for DD1

Buffy - I agree with Skybie on the comp feeding. If her weight gains and output are good I wouldn't stress yourself out over it. The best advice I got with DD1 when she was having weight gain issues in the beginning was to make sure she was fed every 3 hours even if it meant waking her up. That got her back on track pretty quickly. DD also does the pusing away while trying to latch on thing. Mainly when she is tired or if she has wind. Will have to check out the white noise app, never heard of it, thanks for the tip.

Me-Lisa - Definitely keep an eye on the vomiting. DD will gag sometimes when she spews, she doesn't projectile vomit though.

AFM - We saw the MCHN yesterday. My little chubba is 60cm and 5.75kg at exactly 6 weeks. She is a pretty happy bub and is smiling heaps now, she loves her big sister and I've managed to get quite a few pics of them smiling at each other. She is pretty strong too and throws herself around. Aside from the tight muscle in her neck she has really good head control and loves to look around at everything. She was on her tummy the other day and lifted her head and turned to look at me, she is so much stronger than her sister was.

I haven't actually made an appt for a 6 wk check up for me. Saw the GP 10 days after the birth and he checked both of us over and I got a script for the mini pill so I don't really have a reason to go back now. Everything seems to be healed from my tear and no other issues. Does anyone else not have leaky boobs? I've never had to use breastpads and I fed DD1 til she was 18 months.

Sending lots & lots of hugs miss e. I know exactly where you're coming from. Things have settled down here but ds went through a really rough patch & i felt very guilty. I chatted to my mchn about it (cos she rocks!) and said i felt a bit like id ruined ds' life. She said that it might feel like it but that we'd also given him the most wonderful gift. It's so hard in the early weeks when you feel removed from the 'real' world. I hope your ds has a happier day & you're feeling ok too.

Hope all your babes are doing well and letting you get lots of sleep.

Our DD was born on the 7th of March, so I'm jumping into this group. I'm on my phone so I won't be able to do personals sorry. It appears I have a lot of reading to do in order to catch up also, a lovely chatty group.

Over the past week we've been having sleep issues, I feel like my eyes are hanging out of my head. Our girl goes down between 9.30 & 10.30 usually and will sleep for 4 to 5hours. When she wakes we have a feed in the quiet dark bedroom but she very rarely goes back down. If she does go back down it will only be for half hour or so. She fusses a lot & often passes a few pretty loose poo's. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or maybe I'm eating something at dinner that doesn't agree with her. Day sleeps aren't great either so I don't really get a chance to catch up on sleep.

We've had gorgeous smiles every so often for a couple of weeks now but they are becoming more frequent. She is so damn cute when her face lights up with a grin. We've had a little giggle too, but that was a once off so far.

Baby acne here also, it has cleared now but did last for about a week or so. It presented on cheeks, ears and neck. DD often wakes with a little spot on her face, it will usually be gone by the end of the day though.

I downloaded a white noise app too & I put her down for a day sleep yesterday when she was drowsy with it playing & she slept for an hour. I did a little dance :)

I've expressed a couple of times and DH has attempted to give her the bottle but she doesn't want a bar of it. She hates the dummy aswell, we've tried the cherry shape and the other orthodontic shape. The cherry shape she will give it a little chew but doesn't tolerate it for long. Anyone have tips on how to introduce a bottle? I would love for DH to feed her.

I have a mini monkey sling & it has been a godsend. Earlier on I couldn't even have breakfast with out holding DD. I use it when going to the shops instead of the pram as it puts her straight to sleep. I find after about and hour and a half my back does start to hurt a little though. I fold it inside out and she fits in there nicely.

I often cover DD's face in milk too. Its surprising how much distance the milk guns can cover! Leaky nips her too.. I soak thru the nursing pads of a night usually.

Hi Rosey congratulations on the birth of your DD I have added you to our baby buddies list :) the 7th was a busy day!

I struggled to get my two older dd's to take a bottle of EBM in the start, I found tomee tipee closer to nature bottles the best. My girls always took bottles better if I was out the house and we found to start sitting them in the bouncer while feeding worked well as it was a completely different experience to breast feeding. None of my girls will/would take a dummy and now I have at least two thumsuckers :shakehead:

Good night again last night I like the grobag and so does Helena now to get some more. I ended up watching greys anatomy then gave H a dream feed and she slept another 4 hours :). Having a slow at home day today, might do some baking with the big girls if little miss has a settled day

Skye lol on squirting Miss A, Helena had a milk shower this morning as I had a massive let do while changing her nappy. They do say milk is good for your skin!

thanks fuzzy - he's still got the cough and the slightly snotty nose ... he coughed up some phlegm last night - I almost freaked out, because I was sitting him up (we were mid feed when he started coughing) and then suddenly he was gagging and I could see something in his mouth!! I flipped him over and started fishing around for whatever was in there, and then pulled out some phlegm ... I fished around some more, but that seemed to be it ... he finished coughing, and then finished his feed ... given it appears that he has the nasty virus DS1 and I had, he's probably got at least a few more days, poor lamb ... this is really sad particularly as I'm almost at the end of my maternity leave (I go back on 3 May!) and also because his dedication (like a christening) is this Sunday! but he doesn't appear to be suffering, and still is feeding and sleeping and wetting normally, and his temperature is still perfectly normal ...

re leaky boobs - no, I leak ... but ironically, the side that leaks worst (by far) is the side that produces less milk (by far) ... I wonder why ...

re backs - is anyone else's back majorly unhappy? I've been back to the chiro twice since DS2 was born, but it's still grumpy ... five minutes of walking or housework, and my sacrum is *not* talking to me ... I get back to the gym in the next week, so hopefully some regular gentle workouts will fix it up ...?

rosey - that's a popular birth date! there's three of us with LOs born on 7 March, now :D with the bottle, I can only recommend persisting ... there's lots of different teats you can try, or you can even start with a syringe or little cup, if you like ... but it's definitely great for your DH to be able to a feeds :) I hope it works soon for you guys!

skybie - tell me about it!! I noticed little marks on my laptop even, and realised that my projectile milky mess had squirted DS2 in the face, and splashed onto my laptop screen, on the coffee table next to us!!

afm - it has been good for the past couple of days to have DH doing the early morning feed ... I obviously wake up, but then get to just sort of make sure DH has got up, then roll over and go back to sleep myself ... I'm still exhausted, but I am no longer so tired that I don't realise I'm tired, if that makes sense ... yesterday I had two naps! one in the morning for about an hour, and then one for almost 3 hours in the afternoon/evening!! don't think I'll have time for that today (a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong laundry list of things to do ...) but I might get a little nap in this afternoon :D I need to make the most of it, before going back to work! It's less than two weeks away :(

I find I can only get a semi-decent amount if I'm holding or feeding Willow at the same time, otherwise it's crap. Thanks for sharing your friend's experience, I reckon once W knows it's actually food she might take to it better. My plan is just one bottle at night with DH, so hopefully it works.

fuzzy, your gal is growing beautifully also and sounds very happy indeed - and strong! Great that you've healed well. No leaky boobs here, still an over-supply I think but just makes them rock-hard (ouch). Thanks re: weight. I think you're spot on with the pushing away thing, I'm starting to notice that she does it when she's fussy and when we put her down she goes straight to sleep. So I may have been forcing food on the little cherub when she didn't want it, oops. The girly annoyed squeal should have been the first giveaway.

Could your partner help out a bit in the mornings or if not possible during the week, on weekends - so you can catch up? Is your family close by - could they help out during the day? Hope it settles for you, sleep deprivation is the worst kind of torture. Thank goodness for the white noise app, it's going well here too (we use a rain sound). RE: dummies, W wasn't keen at first but has taken to the Avent ones. Doesn't like the cherry-shaped ones as much but I think they're too big for her face.

sararose, good tip on the bottle feeding - we use Tomee Tipee here too. Excellent that H liked the grobag and you got such a good night's sleep. Happy baking :)

peanutter, sorry your DS is still unwell. Bummer about the return to work in May, are you coping ok? Must be extra difficult with your little one sick, fingers crossed he makes a speedy recovery. No back issues here, touch wood. Hopefully some gentle exercise will help sort you out. Agree with you on having DH do a feed, it has made such a difference here and mine really loves doing it.

Howdy to anyone I missed...

AFM: a couple of better nights here, feeds at 11:30, 2:00 and 5:30 - and now that W has more play time she's much more content to sleep. Not settling as well during the day as she does at night, but that's not such a bad thing as I figure she might be starting to tell the difference with the bright/dark room, more activity etc. Some feeds still an issue with the pulling away/squealing, but pretty sure she's doing what fuzzy described and either doesn't want more or is windy. It usually happens mid-morning and mid-afternoon, others are fine. Will be trying a bit more formula today to see how she goes, expressing still very slow.

Had a lovely morning, bestie down from Sydney and it was so good to see her. Heading out to run some errands, have to track down W's birth certificate so we can put PPL and other claims in.

Miss E- Cooper could definatley be having a growth spurt, the do generally have one between 2-3 wks and Ryker sure did, he wouldnt settle between feeds and i'd end up feeding again. sorry to hear ds1 is having some difficulties, i think most of us with other children have been experiencing this. I sure have with ds2 but i think he is coming out the better side of it now.... not easy at all and i was pretty upset about it too. Your doing the best and toughest job in the world, he wont resent you for it but he is just making sure everyone still knows he is here!

Sara- did you stay up or go to bed? i want to stay up each night to watch my shows but i go to bed to watch them and fall asleep lol! and im worried if i do stay up then Ryker may have a bad night and i will end up having no sleep... i really hope i can not go to bed at nanna hour for much longer and get a bit of down time to watch a few shows i normally like when kids are in bed.

fuzzywuzzy- id be cheering if i didnt have leaking boobs, i was leaking from about 20wks pregnant and now if i dont have a pad in i'll drench my top! (and got embarrassed a few times whilst pg when i leaked through my top.... thats nice to get some pics of the girls smiling, i managed to get Rykers smile on camera for the first time this arvo, its a half smile at daddy but still the first one i have proof of! wow at Milana's weight!!

Rosey- hi and welcome to our awesome group :) whats your DD name? Im not sure about how to introduce the bottle when she doesnt want it, my prob was the opposite once i introduced the bottle ds got worse on the boob....i guess try it every few days and hopefully she may eventually take it? Or try it when she is not super dooper hungry like after alf of a bf??

ok reading further down i just read Sarah you watched Greys! bugger i was snoozing and missed it... i have a grow bag but so far have found ds is waking himself more with it even though his arms are inside it its like he still wakes himself with his arms in the air, so he prefers to be warpped with his hands down atm.

peanutter- sounds like a good thing you have worked out with dh. i have been doing similar with dh but at night, me going to bed earlier then him doing the 9-10pm feed and then by the time im getting up a few hours later i have had a pretty good block of sleep.

buffy- sounds like a good day with your friend and just what you needed! thats great if Willow is starting to know the difference between day and night and your right you would rather her fussy period during the day, i think most bubs have a fussy period the first 12ish weeks.

AFM- well Ryker rash is sooo much better, woke thismorning and it was not red at all! so much infact i said to dh thismorning i wonder if we could stull get the photos done... so i rang our photographer at 830am and she said she was free for midday (45min drive to her place) then i had to work out what we could all wear, then i decided to ring my hairdresser just up the road and raced up to get my hair blow dried lol!! (my ghd broke a few months ago and im really crap at doing my hair nice) so it was a full on morning of getting everyone and everything organised (i ironed all the clothes then ironed extra clothes incase they didnt work together)
so i think we got some great pics, looking forward to seeing them... dh got weed on and i got pooed on thanks Rykie :)

it was a last min decision i rang the hair dresser at 9am after getting out of the shower (still in my towell) and got there at 9.07am lol! i got the slowest girl there though she started straight away and finished at 10am. and had to leave home at 11am, get dressed, do make up, express, feed (got dh to), iron, nappy bag ready, big boys to get ready and ofcourse dh did no getting ready whilst i was gone.... so i was watching the clock at the hair dressers the whole time stressing out!

Buffy: Great to hear that Willow has been having better nights! How is the expressing going? Is she taking the formula well? Nate is doing the pulling away squealing thing when he has wind or when the first side has emptied and he wants to move on to the second side.

Sararose: Love the term velcro baby! Cute pic too. Nate was the same yesterday it was our worst day yet. I fed roughly every two hours from 5am until 10pm. He only slept an hour in his bed from 4.30pm - 5.30pm. Everytime I put him down he would squawk at me! But was happy as soon as he was in my arms. I forget from previous posts does Helena not like being wrapped? Great that she likes the grobag. My DS1 was like that I had him in a sleeping bag from early days. He is still using a blanket sleeper at 17mths as he doesn't love the sheets. He will have to get used to them soon tho, we are going to try to introduce the single bed so we don't have to buy a second cot.

Peanutter: It's wonderful that your DH is doing the early morning feeds and letting you get a sleep in! I hope your little man is all better for his dedication tomorrow.

Rosey: Sorry I can't give you any advice on bottle feeding either, my DS1 took to it straight away and then decided he didn't want the boob anymore. I haven't tried Nate yet.

Hi to everyone else that i've missed. :)

Well I'm typing one handed with a snoring baby in the other. The snoring is just an act i'm sure because i've tried putting him down and he wakes straight away. He has been much better today after a shocker yesterday and has even self settled a couple of times! Been a bit unsettled since 4ish.
I forgot to mention in my last post that my little man has rolled over a few times already from front to back! The first was at 3 weeks and 4 days, both myself and DH saw it! I managed to get it on video the 2nd time!

Has anyone with older children had any trouble with yoghurt? I think the calci-yum sends my DS1 troppo! He goes silly and I get worried he is going to hurt himself. What in it would be the problem?

smekko- omg on Nate rolling at 3 weeks old, what a clever boy!! i was lucy the poo came right at the end so didnt matter. not sure about the yoghurt both my boys have yoghurt but havent noticed changes in them from eating it.
buffy- ive also noticed Ryker's change in the last few days, he is so much more alert, looking less newbornish and looking around lots

i had an almost meltdown moment yesterday. It was my neices bday and we went to my sisters house for a little party. Dh didnt come because he had to help a friend install a kitchen, anyway i took a bottle of ebm for his first feed and my expressing stuff for the following. when i went to express i realised i had forgotten half of the pump :( so i sat there for 30min trying to hand express and managed to get 40mls.....i was so close to crying and my nipples were hurting from me squeezing and it was so hard, i spilled some, some was squriting outside of the bottle, then suddenly i managed to get a further 40mls so 80ml in total.
Ryker has been taking 120ml though..... initially i thought i would have to get ready to leave because its an hour drive home and was stressing about having 3 kids on my own and not getting home in time for his feed but once i got to 80ml i thought we will see how we go.
so when he woke i got mum to feed him the 80ml while i tried expressing again and i got another 20mls, so he only had 20ml less than normal..... if he carried on i was going to attempt to bf but it was like i was scared to do so cause i havent put him on in a week now....
maybe when school is back i'll give a few bf a go and see if he can take it again, otherwise i was really cursing myself for getting part of the pump

in better news ds1 scored his first soccer goal yesterday!! unfortunatley i didnt get to the game cause he played at 8am and dh had to go set up the grounds prior so i only had time to get ds1 and ds2 ready b4 dh was back to pick them up. anyone ever watched under 6's play any sport they are so incredibly cute :)

:hug: nickers. Sounds very stressful. EBM gives real meaning to that age old saying 'crying over spilt milk' doesn't it. I swear that must of come from a mother.

major hugs, nickers ... last night I spilled about 40ml of ebm, and I cried! I just hate it getting wasted - even without having to do it manually, and it being urgently needed ... with DS1, I once spilled 200ml and 120ml in the same day ... you could have heard me crying from the moon, I was just beside myself ... I understand the pain! re soccer, DH is chomping at the bit to get DS1 into soccer ... we're looking at starting him next year, unless we start him mid season this year, after his 2nd birthday. He can already dribble the ball quite well - with his daddy being a mad keen soccer ("football") fan (having grown up in England) and who plays, coaches and umpires, it's not surprising ... !

smekko - no issues with yoghurt here, but we only really give DS1 plain yoghurt, and we then put fruit in it. some of them look like they're low in sugar, but then when you look closer, the highlighted bar is "ADDED sugar" and the actual "sugar" content is below it, and is much higher than I would have thought ...

afm - DS2's dedication was lovely ... I have him the biggest feed ever before church, and he slept right through it, and for about 45 minutes afterwards, so we were able to thank our guests and have some coffee before he needed another feed :D DS1 kind of cracked it on the stage during the actual dedication because he wanted to run around and play with the drum kit, so we passed him down to my brother ... oh well. can't have everything!

off I go to enjoy the rest of the weekend :happydance:

A big hello to everyone else out there!!

We had a busy wkd here so I haven't been around here much. Saturday, we took my DSD's out for breakfast and then went to the Sunshine Coast for lunch with my IL's. Home for a quick house clean before friends came for dinner. Yesterday we just hung out at home and recovered... C had an epic 3 hour nap!

Sleeping is becoming more predictable here... If I can push him til 8-8.30pm, he will sleep til around 1.30. Back down by 2.30 and we are up for the day around 5am. Sat night he must have been tired from our busy day as he was down by 7pm, but then up at 11.30, 2am and 4am.

We have a busy week planned... Dr appts, catch ups with friends who have new babies too and C is super excited that Daddy is home on Wed.

Since I've cut dairy out if my diet, he is much happier too. Very chilled out baby who loves cuddles and moving around. I borrowed a Close Carrier from a friend last week and it's probably the best thing ever.

C is asleep on my chest at the moment and I just noticed some vommy on his lips... And can now feel something dribbling down between my boobs... Nice :)

thanks guys xxx. yesterday afternoon after a feed Ryker wasnt setteling and seemed like he was looking for more so i attempted bf, he latched on ok, i dont really think he wanted any more but found comfort in it, so it was kind of a nice moment that even though i havent been bf him my boobs can still comfort him. (now if only i didnt have to use nipple sheilds and could just pop him on anywhere anytime...
Miss E thats so true i am sure that saying comes from regards to spilling ebm its definatley iquid gold and i hate any going to waste aswell. ladt night dh asked ds1 to get something out of the fridge but when i realised he had to move the ebm to get to it i quickly jumped up and got it!! even though its sealed its like i am protecting myloot or something hehe

Nic- sounds like good sleeping patterns at night. Ryker has been similar, 3 nights last week he went 8pm, 2am, 630am and last night after his 8pm feed i gave him a little top up at 8.30pm and he woke at 2am, woke at 5am but come for snuggles and fed at 630am.
Sarah- yay on the 6hour stretch! feels good to get a good block of sleep doesnt it, exept for the exploding boobs!

question to those with older kiddies- ds1 goes back to school tomorrow so the fun begins of getting out the house and poor Ryker getting pulled in and out the car. how do u go with waking bub to have to get out of the house?
Ryker seems to have a really peacful sleep after his morning feed like now he went to sleep at 8am, but we will be having to be out of the house 845-9am each morning, wondering if i should try and put him back down in the car capsule so he wont be distrubed when we leave the house??

Nickers I'm hoping to keep Helena awake in the mornings and weather permitting walk to school in the arvo. In the arvo I'm Planning On putting her in the pram after a feed so we ar ready to go. H falls asleep in the car and I can then get her in and out the sling without waking her

Sarah, the dairy free diet is bloody hard... Especially because I've cut out tomato too, so easy things like tomato and chicken pasta are out the window. I am struggling finding alternatives and we are living on meat and veggies.

I am eating porridge with rice milk which isn't too bad, but I had a soy decaf latte yesterday :sick: I miss coffee so much!

Hi dudes, long time no check-in – my bad :oops:

My first week alone actually went pretty well, but today, sheesh, I am counting the minutes until Df gets home. Yves is very unsettled and won’t close his eyes for more than a few minutes; hence I am still in my bathrobe and have yet to get any food. He is usually great during the days, we have even been out for lunch and to the shops a few times with real success, but at night he turns into Dr Yves-il! Really doesn’t sleep or settle until about 1am, then sleeps for 2-3 hours max. Today is DF’s first at his new job, so I slept in spare room with bub to give him a good rest. Yves flatly refused the bassinet and slept only on my chest, but it was comfortable enough – except for the sweaty head patch – do you guys get that?!

I won’t attempt to catch up with you all individually right now or I will no doubt be here til bedtime. Please suffice to say that while I have missed joining in, I have read all the posts and laughed and cried and gnashed my teeth along with everyone as these bubs have tested all the emotions we have.

Hi all, just a quick vent while I have 1 free minute!

I have another reflux bub -apart from the mountain of washing that is always waiting to be done, my baby is in pain, my dd is 2.5year and still has reflux (though no spew just pain) and now it is happening again. So I have a screaming, crying baby that doesnt want to sleep, is unsettled feeding and wants to be held and carried upright all the time!! I love my kids but seriously don't know why it has to be so hard when I really want to enjoy my kiddies :(

Razz- i know how you must be feeling, both ds1 and ds2 had reflux, ds2 not so bad but Nixon's was shocking. he wouldnt lay on his back, tummy, would scream all the time, spew all the time, no fun at all. can you get in to your gp or pead to talk about other medications like losac or zantac?

Nic- i envy your determination with bf cutting out so much in your diet, geez no coffee!! how do u get by the day....

lct- great to hear from you. lol at Dr Yves-ill :) but not really laughing, not the time of night you want to be up for long periods. How is he during the day? Ryker took a few weeks before i think he started getting day from night. im thankful for it even though still getting up to him he seems to get back off to sleep (well sometimes on me but some sleep is better than non huh)

Sarah- we will walk to school also but can only do it Mon and tuesdays as the other 3 days ds2 preschool is too far and not enough time between school times. so i am hoping to put him back down in the pram on those days and maybe the capsule if its getting close to leaving time?? well ds1 is finially back at school tomorrow! (well 1 day then wed is off) and its a day we can walk and rain it predicted arggghh.. so looking forward to getting things back to normal....i havent made a school lunch for neally 5 weeks! (dh did the week i was in hosp then the week we came home they were sick and off school, then school hols)

Razz: Good to have you here. I am sorry to hear you have a reflux baby :( At least you have some experience with it but as far as I have heard there is not heaps that can be done. Hoping you have good support and that your bub will respond to treatment options.

Ali is pretty good but has her unsettled time around 7pm onwards...although it might be later tonight as she is fast asleep. Good to hear you coped doing things on your own. Nice to show you can do it but I bet you don't want to test it out too often. And..yes we do get the sweaty head patch :)

Peanutter: Sounds like you had a lovely dedication. We are planning on getting Alicia baptised around Oct/Nov. My DH is the assistant minister of our church so we are trying to decide whether we do it on a day he is preaching or when the other minister is preaching. Elocin: Dairy free must be so hard. I have never noticed my kids finding my diet difficult but I know friend who had to change their whole diet. Haha about vomit dribbling into you chest. I have had many spews into my bra...yuck!

We had a shocker day today, kids were feral, DH lost his wallet, Ali did a #3 (poo that explodes everywhere) while we were in the dentist and I had to change her on the floor while my kids caused havoc cos they knew I was busy and we were late getting dinner organised. I have written a post about it on my blog for tomorrow if you are bored and want to read about my bad day Mummy's Undeserved Blessings Apart from that everything is going great. Alicia is still a fantastic night sleeper. I won't brag about it as I know you will all hate me but the other two are the ones waking us up in the night with sickness and vomit so it all balances out. Ali is still doing the massive vomits so I will take her to the gp on thurs for the 6 week check and ask about it then. She seems fine, it is just really gross being covered in milk. It has never happened more than once a day. Not much else to report but just nice to catch up with you all on here.

Razz- you poor thing, having two little ones with reflux isn't fair, I hope you have lots of help and support

Lct- you had me laughing with your Dr Yves-il lol, I hope the sleep routine improves for both our little ones soon

Nickers- Im not looking forward to next year having one at school and one at kindy as they are about 10 minutes apart by car I feel for you :(. Im lucky if the weather is terrible I can drop dd1 off without getting dd2+3 out the car, as dd1's class is right next to the gate and Im sure one of the other mums would walk her in for me if she didnt want to go on her own, they are a really nice bunch. It will be nice to get back into a routine and the girls are getting sick of each others company

melisa- ahh for number 3's when out, we had one today but luckily we were at home. Must be a feral kid day my two had a few run ins today and I have sunscreen on the walls which leaves nice greasy patches that are very difficult to get off

Im sure people will think we are terrible parents as in the last 3 days dd2 has got a black eye on the left from knocking it on a chair, got a black eye ont he right from a friends ds throwing a rock that caught her and a bruise on her cheek after falling off the lounge on to the dolls house after I had repeatedly told her not to. She was very cute tonight though as she had fallen asleep on the lounge sitting up, DH picked her up to go to bed and she started talking in her sleep and kept saying 'to the rat mobile' after watching flushed away.

Helena has had a really settled day today, got lots of cuddles from her Aunty R. Massive number 3 that went through 2 layers on H and two on me but I think it really made her feel a lot better, it did mean an early bath though. Going for our 6 week check up next wednesday and I think she may want H to have a blood test as she still looks quite jaundiced from her armpits up :( my little pumpkin head.

We have my dad and step mum coming down for a visit tomorrow night, only found out they were coming yesterday but we are all looking forward to it. DD1 goes back to school Thursday so I will have help in the morning to get everyone ready. H will be 6 weeks old before I have to do the morning school routine on my own, I have been very spoiled.

Well I should go to bed as H seems to be down and out and Im braving a play cafe and grocery shopping tomorrow, think I might be going mad doing both in one day :)

LCT, I am loving Yves' nickname... You poor love. I hope the sleeping thang settles down soon honey. How is your DF enjoying the new job?

We are calling Connor 'sweaty head' at the moment... He sleeps on me that often that I have a bit of heat rash on my chest.

I have needles booked with the Dr who see's my DSDs' (he is a pead) and was booked to see the pead that helped deliver C at the hospy for Friday, but have decided to cancel the pead at the hospy... Figure I can get his needles and 6wk check up done at the same time and save myself $130!

I'm not looking forward to the needles and am getting DH to finish work early to come with us!!

It's lovely and cool here today and good old sweaty head is cuddled up snoring his wee head off. I would usually go for a sleep at this time, but we have to leave in 30 mins to pick up DH... *yawn*

Oh Razz, I just want to give you a big :hug:. So sorry to hear that your little man has reflux too. I imagine given the severity of your DD's that you've probably tried everything under the sun, but did you give osteopathy a go? I have a friend who's little girl really improved after a few sessions. In fact I'm taking DS2 to see her Osteo on Friday to see if she can help him with his wind.

Buffy, hope miss W is treating you well. It's so lovely seeing them more alert now isn't it. I just love looking into Coop's eyes and seeing him gazing straight back at me - so special.

AFM, well we've had a few up's and down's the last few days. It's tantrum city round here at the moment with DS1 and DS2 has been pretty unsettled the last few days. He's really struggling with wind. I tell you, I never knew someone so small could fart so much! It wouldn't be a problem but it's causing him heaps of discomfort, so I have booked him in to see an osteo on Friday and am really hoping that we can ease the discomfort for him. He's also become a lot more alert over the last few days which is lovely.

We had our 2 week checkup with the MCHN (at 3 weeks) yesterday. Coops is piling on the weight, he's now 4.57kgs! That's 1kg over his discharge weight which was just over two weeks ago. But there was some concern raised about him possibly having a sacral cleft (a birth defect that can be an indicator of spina bifida) and we were told to go see the DP. It was a trainee MCHN who checked him over and raised the alarm, my normal MCHN was much more relaxed about it, but I was still pretty freaked out about it, especially when I got home and consulted Dr Google. So we went to see the GP this morning, who reassured us that there is nothing to worry about, other than the trainee MCHN being a little bit too over-cautious. Such a relief I tell you. Even though I was convinced that it was highly unlikely to be a problem because he is so strong, I still couldn't help but worry about the 'what if's'.

DH goes back to work next week. TBH I am looking forward to getting on with things and back into a normal routine. I think it's going to be really hard on DS1 because he has become super attached to DH over the last few weeks, but it will be good for us to have some time together too. Just hoping it doesn't get too overwhelming, mind you I'm sure we'll have our moments...

Anyway, that's enough rambling from me for now. Sorry to anyone I missed, hope everyone is doing well and getting lots of sleep ;)

Hi Elocin, Connor sounds like he is doing great - I really hope he got through the needles ok today. And you too - its just as hard standing by while they get done I’m sure. I have wanted to ask how you are feeling post c-section, body-wise? I still feel very ‘puffy’ and tender around the tummy button area. There is no infection or anything, but I guess I am just wondering how long it takes to settle right down. I am off all pain meds etc, just wanting to get to a stage when I can wear stuff that isn’t harry high-pants! Re. bub’s sweaty head, it is actually a blessing here in Melb as it is sooo cold today. I stayed in bed with Yves glued to me as long as possible this morning, as he makes a great little heater.

Miss E – what a terribly scary thing for you to have to even consider spina bifida! It sounds like you knew within yourself that it wasn’t too serious, but Dr Google can freak you out nonetheless. When we had Yves’ 12 week scan they told us there was a possible herniation of the bowel, or omphalocele. Wow, that google image experience is something I will never repeat. Needless to say it resolved a week later on re-scan, like I felt it would, but gave us a solid scare in the meantime. Glad to hear Cooper is gaining great weight, and really hope the osteo can give him some relief from the homer-simpson-itis!

Razz – I am so sorry that you are coping with the dreaded reflux drama with both your little ones. I can only imagine what the persistent crying does to your stress levels, let alone the frustration of being unable to help bubs immediately. Hopefully as Miss E suggested an osteo can offer a fresh perspective? I have no experience with this at all, just sending you strength as I am sure it is testing all your reserves x

Me-Lisa – Ouch, that sounds like a shocker of a day you had there. A positive way to deal with it through your blogging, though. Hope you are having a better one today, with no number 3s!

So how did all the school runs go today? It’s an absolute pooper of a day in Melbs… Skye, you probably couldn’t wait to get back to the warmth of home!

I have just been a total sloth all day, my only goals being to keep both Yves and I warm and fed. A long relaxing bath is on the cards for the whole family as soon as DF gets home – thank goodness for our huge tub, I love that it fits all 3 of us.

My not-so-little man had packed on 1.3 kgs in 3 weeks... Go boobs! Considering the rocky start we had, I am really freaking proud of myself for sticking it out through the comp feeding and 3am meltdowns!

He is now 5.86kgs and was super brave during his needles. Thank goodness DH came because I certainly wasn't very brave! Sooky Mumma I am!

LCT, I'm still wearing mat pants / shorts... My scar isn't sore, but is tender when I pull my mat jeans up and forget to be a bit gentle.

My scar / lower tummy still hurts a bit when I am holding Connor and stand up off the couch / fit ball. And I still have to think about when I go to get out of bed... I can't just sit straight up.

I've lost just over half of my baby weight so I haven't braved my skinny jeans just yet. My tummy, hips and upper thighs are still flabby and I can feel the muscles in my stomach when I flex.

Enjoy your family bath... That sounds awesome!!!

DS1 has a fever.

DS2 has a nasty cough and congestion.

DH has a splitting headache, sore throat and cough.

I have all of the above.

Praise the Lord tomorrow is a public holiday.

Now all I need to do is figure out how to remove my boobies (aka: milk-duds) so I can drop them and DS1 and DS2 off with my parents, PIL, sister, SIL, brother, other brother, SIL-to-be, or a friend ... so I can sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
