elocin - i hope your little man was a bit later to get up this morning & let you have a bit more sleep
buffy - good news on the paed appt & sounds like your first day solo went ok - despite the frequent feeding. K is similar - it's very hit & miss as to whether i can put her down for a nap or whether she'll only stay asleep if she's being held. sometimes i'll just hold her because they're just so much harder to settle if they're overtired! i reckon my ds was about 5ish months before i consistently put him down for every nap (but i am a bit of a sook for cuddles & so is he!! :o)
skybie - that must be so tough in the evenings with 2 other little people as well. i try not to wish time away & i love nb babies but it does get a bit easier when they're happy to be put down!
nickers - gl with the pad appt today
sararose - hope you're all feeling better soon
hi to everyone else!
it's great hearing how everyone's nights & days are shaping up. we seem to have lots of feeding from about 6-9 and then she sleeps on my lap till i go to bed around 10. then i take her into bed. she wakes for a feed around 1ish/ when dp comes to bed & it usually takes anything up to an hour for het feed & resettle. then she goes in her nasdibet. she then wakes up anywhere between 4-5 for a feed but is often unsettled - ds was exactly the same, i used to park the basdinet in another room because the grunting at that time of day was so loud! when she gets up depends on ds - if he gets up at 5.30-6 then often she has to get up because i dont get a chance to resettle her properly after her 5am feed. it would be good if ds got past his mummy only phase!!!
how was everyones mother's days? ds spent sat night at dp's mum's house so i got to stay in bed till 8.30! that is the latest in i cannot remember how long! i took dd to the supermarket & dp picked up ds. my mum & dad came over for morning tea & then we went to dp's mum's for fish & chips for dinner. it was a nice day.

Yep, Connor does exactly the same thing! It doesn't matter how asleep he is, as soon as I put him down he'll jerk his body or squirm and wakes himself up. He gets distressed and overtired... It's a vicious circle.
C is marginally better thanks Hun. He is no where near as fussy today and is much chattier and smiley. He slept from 8.30-2.30 last night. Settled perfectly and I was back in bed by 3.15am. He was kicking his legs around and grunting & snorting so I didn't sleep great because I was just waiting for him to wake up.
Buffy, C has an umbilical hernia as well. My dr said as long as its not causing pain when touched its fine. Wowzer, she's chunking up nicely isn't she? How much does she weigh now?
I hope today is better for you both x
Sloane, oh a sleep in!! Your Mothers Day sounds great! I'm glad you had such a lovely day!
Nic, Connor used to get really cranky of a late afternoon / early evening... Would scream if anyone but me held him and was generally just unhappy. But the last week or so, he seems to have changed and is much calmer. He hangs out with DH more and I've been cooking dinner and showering without DH knocking on the door asking how much longer I'll be!
How did R's check up go?
Skye, did you get your nap in yesterday with DF home? I hope A is letting you get some rest and has remembered how cool it is to nap!
I'm sitting on couch with the heater going, a blanket over me and C & one of the cats cuddled up asleep on me... What a lovely way to start the day!!
-
Phew, so glad I'm not the only one! I thought she'd suddenly turned into devil baby. Turns out she's totally normal :) thanks heaps guys x
sloane, that's a nice little routine you and K have. Hopefully it's maximizing your rest time. We call 4:00-6:00am 'The Gruntening' as W is so noisy and usually gives us a lovely breakfast surprise. Is your little man still being clingy? How is he around bubs? Glad you had such a great Mother's Day. Mmmmmmm, fish & chips...
Elocin, yes, exactly what our paed said too. W is now 4.45 kg with dainty thigh rolls :) Glad your beautiful boy had dialled down the fuss so you can have some time to yourself. Also nice for your DH to have some one-on-one time. Loving the sound of your day hon, enjoy it x
Well, W gave me the finger by having a two-hour nap and is back asleep on my lap after some cooing and a half-hearted fight. Little minx!! I managed to eat in peace, finish a cup of tea, get dressed, put on makeup and do all the folding. Can't believe it. Heading to the Botanic Gardens shortly for a walk with my SIL, gorgeous day here but very chilly. It was -4.9 overnight - bring on winter.
-
Buffy, Yay for a long nap. It's so nice when you get a little time to yourself. It's amazing how a cuppa and a little make up can make you feel like a new woman isn't it? I love your description of 'the gruntening' - we have that here too! Mind you I have the monitor turned down on it's lowest setting so manage to sleep through it, I only wake when he lets out a good squeak.
Elocin, you must be in Melbourne this morning! Sounds like you and Mr C have got the day off to a nice start. I'm thinking of curling up on the couch with a blankie myself and putting the Bachleor on - yes I'm a sucker for cheesy american reality shows!
Sarah, Yay for a sleep in! I actually got one on Saturday morning (Sunday DS1 decided he wanted mummy to get up with him). It's amazing what a difference an extra couple of hours makes. And I hear you, it feels like forever since you last had one. When I think about our pre-kids days I find it hard to believe that we would sleep in till 10 am (or later) every weekend, the idea of that seems so sureal these days. And, while I'm on the topic, doesn't it urk you how friends/family without children complain about being tired and then in the next breath say that they slept till 10am!
Nickers, hope the paed appt goes smoothly for you today. From memory, it's more a formality than anything else. For some reason our paed said not to worry about it this time around (saved myself $250!). Mind you I had been thinking I wouldn't bother unless I had some specific concern. I figure between my GP and MCHN any concerns will be picked up.
Sararose, how are you and the girls feeling today. Hoping you've got your voice back. It must be so hard managing young kids when you can barely speak.
Skybie, did you manage to get a good nap in with DF home? Sounds like Miss A is settling into life really well with the wrapping and knowing when to BF and when not to. Hopefully her nights settle down for you soon too.
Peanutter, are you over your bug yet and back at work?
AFM everything is going pretty smoothly at the moment (touch wood LOL). I've decided to put Cooper's vacc's off for a week or two. DH is really busy at work at the moment and I'm still monitoring his response to the Osteo treatment, so don't want to mix things up by throwing vac's into the mix too. Also, 6 weeks seems so young... He's started smiling in the last week or so which is wonderful, but you have to work really hard for one. It's amazing how different he is to DS1, DS1 was smiling at 1.5 weeks, but didn't roll till 4 months. Cooper on the other hand has been really slow to start smiling, but is ridiculously strong. He's been rolling from tummy to back for a couple of weeks and is now holding his head up without any troubles pretty much all the time. I'm so looking forward to seeing him grow and change. It was a bit of a shock when he was born because he looked like a carbon copy of DS1, but now as time goes on he's developing his own uniqueness which is lovely.
I've got a pretty quiet few days planned here while DS1 is at CC. Other than my OB check up tomorrow I don't have any plans... Hoping to get lots of R&R in and am also thinking of going for a bit of shopping spree too. My winter wardrobe is pretty much non-existant! I didn't really buy anything other than maternity gear last year, and the stuff from the year before is a bit worn and ratty. But on the same token, I wouldn't mind waiting a couple more weeks until I shed a little more of the belly flab. I'm back to my pre-preg weight now, but am keen to loose the extra 5kg's or so I held onto after DS1 and get back to my pre-pre-preg body. Mind you, not sure how realistic that is... I was going to the gym 5 days a week back then (another thing that seems totally sureal) and hadn't had two kids... But will see how I go.
Hope everyone else is well and your bubba's are being good to you.

Well the muffet must have heard my frustrations in here testerday because shes been great today! Lots of beautiful smiles this morning :) asleep at 930am-1 pm, 130-230 (woken up) lots more smiles at school then down from 430-8!!
ShesAsleep now but restless so will see how we go
Hope everyones had a great day too.
OoohAnd I frgot to tell you, in our shower last night little chubs went from smiling to dozing to smiling to thinking about a.feed but then decided it was fun to open her mouth as wide as she could, poke her tongue out as far as she could and try and catch the water droplets (well atleast thats what it looked like!)
Shes such a water babe, loves the shower and loves kicking about like a frog in the bath. I can never decide on a bath or shower, shes so coot!!!
-
yes, back at work and almost better.
have been up basically since 4am now, so am just finishing expressing, having some soup, and going to bed...
tomorrow and the next day I have early starts and very late finishes ... just praying I don't get sicker!!

Hi all
Sorry for the lack of persies but it's been a crap couple of days. My Popa passed away yesterday morning, he had cancer and unfortunately had been suffering in the last few weeks so in many ways it was a blessing but still very sad. Dad being sensitive as normal sent all us kids a text message to tell us! His funeral is Friday but it's in NZ so we won't be going
Kids are still crook but dd1 is getting better dd2 woke at 3am bawling her eyes out due to ear ache so we are going back to The GP today. Luckily she didnt wake H, although she woke at 4am just after i had got back to sleep. H was cranky and overtired yesterday, from 1pm she kept cat napping and slept for less than an hour from 1-8pm and just screamed every time I put her down. I'm not shaking this cough/ cold either so we are all feelings bit sorry for ourselves. DH is taking today off to help which is very much appreciiated. FX today is a better day
-
Sarah :( i hope you all start feeling better soon and so sorry to hear of your popa's passing. even though he is no longer suffering its still very sad. thinking of you.
Helea and Ryker must copy each other R hardly slept from 1pm -8pm aswell, making me very tired and emotional. cause after school drop off i had ds2 swimming at 11 then pead at 1 all i did all day was leave the house, come back come home, feed, express, leave the house, come back etc etc
i fell asleep on the lounge holding at 8pm, and at 9pm dh took him off me for his last feed and i fell into bed. he woke at 2am, after feed express etc back to sleep at 330am, i woke at 630am and started the morning stuff and ryker has just woke now at 730.
I decided to still see pead just to check after his tounge tie snip and to check re reflux. anyway he told me to give him the zantac dose 3 times a day where my gp had told me once a day, also gave me the script for losec incase zantac isnt improving, so i wont go get it unless i need to but good to have it there and not have to try and get an appt pay more $$ for an appt just for a script.
So fat sticks was 5.2kg (1.4kg above bw) and 61cm long (8.5cm above bw) 37cm hc (3cm above bw)
if only ds2 was the same. im at my wits end with him and lack of eating, had huge meltdowns last night, made himself vomit after 2 teeny pcs of chicken, thinking of seeing a dietician that specialises in fussy children. i dont think its sensory, he can chew and swallow food, but im sure he keeps getting sick cause he is just not getting the right things into him....
-
Im so sorry to hear that sarah xxxx
PeanutterGood luck today
-
Oh Sara, I'm so sorry for your loss. It must be hard not being able to get to the funeral. Thinking of you and your family. I hope you all get rid of those germs soon too, what a rough night. So glad your DH can help out today. Try and get some rest - big hugs.
Nic, yikes, you must be very tired too. Fingers crossed for a better day. How frustrating on the picky food front, my friend's son is the same. A dietician could be the way to go, but hopefully it passes soon.
Peanutter, don't work too hard. Hope you feel better and better.
Skye, Miss A is such a cherub! Those smiles are beautiful. Sounds like she loves the water, I haven't tried W in the shower yet - maybe in the next couple of weeks. She gets so over-hyped lately though that I probably need to stick with the bath!
Miss E, how's Cooper going? Rolling already, that is so cool! Let us know how your OB appointment goes. Enjoy the winter wardrobe shopping, should be good fun.
Elocin, morning buddy. How are you?
Our babies are keeping us on our toes, aren't they? Couldn't get W down at all yesterday between 3:30 and 11:00pm, man it was rough. She was absolutely exhausted but nothing worked, I felt like such a crap mum. She slept ok overnight but still woke every two hours to feed/cuddle and was up beaming at 6:30. I wonder if she'll ever sleep for 2+ hours again! She's been pretty clingy too, bawled when I left her for 1 minute to go to the loo and when my SIL held her. We're having a quiet day in front of the TV today, not too much stimulation for my little poppet!
On a brighter note, have had lots more cooing - especially after I swaddle her and she's looking up at me quietly with her big eyes. Totally adorable.
-
Buffy no, way known you're a crap mum!! I know its easy to think that, but shes just being a baby. Fingers and toes crossed for a better day xxxx
-
sararose - im so sorry for your loss
buffy - sleep is in no way related to your ability as a mum! you are nit a crap mum! imho babies pretty much sleep however they eant/can/are programmed to. it's easy to slip into thinking you're getting it wrong - esp when other people always ask about how they're sleeping & relate it to whether they're a 'good' baby (grrrr). but seriously, they're all different & especially at such a young age, there's not alot you can do - plus just when you think you've got it sussed the cheeky monkeys will change things up!!

buffy- the fact that you were trying to sooth and settle her shows your love and devotion, your certainly not a crap mum, i think sometimes they are just upset and not for any particular reason or maybe its for all of the above reasons and it all becomes too much for them. Most evenings Ryker is crying, unsettled barley sleeps and doesnt matter what i try doesnt settle him.
peanutter- hope work went well today and your not too exhausted by the end of it
Miss E- how did your ob appt go? I cant beleive your smart cookie is rolling already!
sloane- how nice to have a sleep in on mothers day, like you miss E i cant beleive pre kids how much i would be able to sleep in! i couldnt do that even if i tried now, seems like such a waste of a day too lol!
Ryker is definatley more smiley this last few days, its so incredibly hard to not coo back at him at 2am when putting him back to bed lol!
are you guys on contraception?? what did you choose? I have an appt next month with my ob to get either the IUD or implan thingo....i need to read up on both as i dont know much about either of them. i havent been on the pill since before we conceived ds1 and dont think i would remember to take them every day to make it work. between ds2 and ds3 (so 4yrs) we didnt actually use any contraception, just careful timing etc, i always knew when i was mid cycle so knew what do to if we were dtd around that time. even though we are both 99.9999% sure we dont want any more kids neither of us can go and have the tubes tied or snip, just cant do it
-
im getting the IUD when i stop feeding. Theres a webiste that you do a quiestionarre and it tells you the best conraception for you. i think its what contraception are you, or something to that effect.
i wont let DF get snipped either, to final for my liking
-
So unbelievably exhausted.
Re contraception I'll be going back on the pill. It's worked for us quite well for the past decade!!
And we're not decided about whether we'll try for #3...
-
peanutter - i have no idea how you're doing it! hope the second day of the conference goes well.
i'll be going back on the mini pill. i have a prescription that ive had filled, i just forgot to ask when i could start taking it :o
going to brave the gym this morning...eek! havent been since i was about 28 weeks pg. scary! im down to my pre-pg weight but i have alot of weight to lose on top of that so i better get started!

I'm another one who has just decided to go back on the mini pill. Just started taking it a few days ago, but we are yet to DTD (must get onto that LOL, DH has been very patient). Sloane, I think you can start taking it anytime as long as you've stopped bleeding.
Peanutter, hope today goes well for you!
Sara, so sorry to hear about your loss. These things do hit hard, even when in some ways it is a relief that their suffering has ended
Buffy, big  for you my dear. Don't be so hard on yourself! Like everyone has said, you're definately not a crap mum! Far from it!
Nickers, sounds like your little man is going (or growing) great guns! You're doing such a fantastic job with all the expressing, I don't know how you do it with 3 little ones.
Sloane, good on you for heading to the gym. I'd love to get back into going to the gym, but have no idea how I'd fit it in at the moment. I have thought that I might try and go to a spin class or two on weekends when DH can look after the boys, but will probably wait a few more weeks before attempting it - our weekends always seem so full.
AFM, we had a crap day yesterday. Cooper didn't sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time and was really, really chucky. Hoping today is much better for us (I want to go shopping!), but I suspect that the 5 week wonder week may have hit, so we might be in for a few more difficult days... Last night we were having so much trouble getting him down, every time I'd put him down he'd start squirming and wake himself up within 5 mins. So I figured that I'd try putting him down just in his sleeping bag, without wrapping him, and see how we went. Well, he slept pretty well overnight, just the two standard wakeups, so I think his startle reflex has gone and we might continue with just the sleeping bag. It makes the night feeds so much easier when you can just get him up in his bag and not have to worry about unwrapping and rewrapping etc.
I had my OB appt yesterday and it all went well. OB says everything seems to have healed really well so I can start exercising and getting on with things. I am finding that I still get a little bit sore at night when I've over done it during the day, but he said that's normal and I can expect to have a few minor aches and pains until about 3 months after...
Hope everyone has a good day today and happy little bubba's who want to sleep when they should.
-
Morning all
thanks ladies
Contraception for us is condoms at the moment, although with all the illness there hasnt been much need for them! DH is booked in to see a specialist for a vasectomy as he needs surgery for a urethral stricture so while they are down there thought we might get a two for one! I cant use the mini pill as I spot non stop and we are certain that our family is complete. It will be nice not to worry about contraception once hubby is sorted :)
Peanutter hope you are getting over your virus and all the work your doing isnt making things worse
nickers sounds like ryker is growing nicely, I need to get aroung to weighing H again its been a couple of weeks
buffster sounds like you have a mummys girl there, its lovely when they start to recognise how special you are but can get frustrating when they only want you. You are not a crap mum, babies have days like that and all you can do is cuddle them, feed them and keep them safe and warm and thats what you have been doing xx
Miss E hope C is settled so you can go shopping, I find even on H worst days if I go shopping and put her in the close carrier she will sleep, its only at home that she likes to grump. Last week I'd had enough so we actually went shopping just to settle her and it worked, might be a bit hard on the wallet though
Still sick here DD2 is on antibiotics for an ear infection and Im still coughing all the time but am starting to feel better. Helena slept from 9.30-6am my clever little girl must have known mummy needed some rest to try and get over this virus! Im not counting on it happening again tonight but glad I got the chance to catch up on some sleep.
Pumpkin patch online has 30% of all full priced clothes and 20% sale items and free postage with the cose aumay, I have managed to reduce my shopping cart from 15 items to 10 but now cant chose anything else not to buy :o, Im a sucker for kids clothes but I refuse to pay full price for PP
