Oh Skye honey
How are you feeling this morning?
Buffster, were you able to fit your cuppa in before W woke up?
Struggling today... I don't know if it's fatigue or if it's all finally caught up with me... I'm teary and just over it. I am feeling stressed and on edge and snapped at DH and both DSDs' this morning. C has been upset most of the morning and I just feel useless because I can't seem to settle him and I don't know what's wrong. I feel terrible because I am spending all day just trying to put him to sleep so the crying will stop...
Gah.
Feeling less flustered today thank goodness, but the day is still very young!
Hun honestly, thats what having a baby is all about in these early weeks, just trying to get them to sleep! i dont want her to grow any faster but i cant wait for her to be having happy awake time instead of this im awake but in a foul mood and need to sleep, but im going to refuse it just to annoy you!!
honestly by about 12 weeks its much much easier, they have happy awake time and give tired cues, so you just pick them up, feed them and put them to bed. It will pass hun, i promise xxx
really, really sucky night and day so far ...
What is it with these babies of ours? They all seem to be conspiring against us... We've also had a really unsettled 24 hours. all round
I know, the adorable little jerks :)
Elocin, big hugs babe.
 nic. these early weeks are so challenging. actually, there are always challenging times (imo) but it's tougher at the start because you don't know exactly what might be bothering them. i always try to tell myself that they spent so long being carried inside us & constantly fed etc that it must be so tough to adjust to 'life outside'. i think C would be coming up for a wonder week soon too - that usually means unexplained crying.
i'm with skye - i don't want to wish away this time because there is so much to love about it but at the same time, it's tough & very draining. if it makes you feel any better - i started to get teary this morning because DP had left his breakfast dish on the couch & a plate at the computer from last night. i was grumpy because the window to do the dishes is small enough without having to collect plates from every room.
skye - hope today is a better one!
buffy - love the av (yeah, i'm a bit slow to get onto these things!!). what a marathon shopping effort - go miss w & go you!! i've done my fair share of feeds in car parks & had to stop the car for a feed too :)
rosey - sounds like your DD is feeding very efficiently now, which is awesome! love the shorter feeds! do you have a new mothers group where you are? mine started when my DS was 10 weeks but some of the other babies were only 8 weeks. i wasn't going to go but decided to just go & see & i ended up enjoying it. it was also good to get out of the house to a very baby-friendly environment where everyone was going through the same things as me.
miss e - hope the adjustment to your DH going back to work is quick & relatively painless for your DS (and you!!). and that you're getting some nice quiet time with cooper today.
nickers - yay for a decent sleep!! how are you feeling today? do you think it's just general soreness?
peanutter - massive  i'm sorry that your last day of mat leave is being truly sucky. i hope it gets better.
sararose - you are superwoman with everything you manage to get done!
lct - your little man sounds just perfect & very cute!! how was the mchn appointment?
razz - sorry to hear about the reflux :( i hope your DD going to daycare on a friday gives you a little bit of respite.
hi to everyone else!!
afm, it has taken me literally hours to do this post  but both DS & DD are asleep at the moment so i thought i'd come & finish off the post even though i should really be finishing the dishes & getting out of trakkies & into something decent - i've promised DS we can go to playgroup this arvo. we haven't been in about 6-7 weeks. before DD was born he kept sleeping all afternoon & we'd miss it but he's having an earlier nap today so i'm hoping we will make it - i'm conscious that he needs some stimulation outside the house - especially at the moment as i'm pretty boring with the feed, feed, feed that's going on!
DP went back to work yesterday & day 1 wasn't too bad. lots more accomplished than today, that's for sure!! i still get frustrated that i can't get things done but, unlike last time, i know that it ends & so i just need to go with the flow for now. i'd forgotten how independent DS had become!
I have tidied and organised all (and I mean all) of the toys in the house - baby, presently used, gifts waiting age appropriateness times and my old ones.
The backroom and both boys' rooms are now tidy.
I am feeling slightly better.
Nothing that was sucky is resolved, but I'm in a somewhat better frame of mind, and am determined to enjoy the last of my last day off ...
Hugs to all others having a rough patch - and a massive huzzah for those who are having a nice one!
In other news, I totally forgot to mention that DS2 rolled two weeks ago. Yes, rolled - from tummy to back. WTF??? He hasn't repeated the performance, so I think it was a fluke. But he does end up on his side really frequently ... cheeky monkey!
IM CLEAN!!!!!!!!! Happy dance lmao
hope everyone having a sucky day gets a better one tomorrow
skye hooray for showers :happyforyou:
peanutter cant believe your little man rolled, H only rolls to ehr side then flops back
sloane enjoy playgroup, i find its worth the effort as it really helps keep DD2 entertained and her behaviour is much better on days we have something onoutside the house in the mornings
nickers hope R has a better evening tonight, H was like that the oter week, I put it down to a wonder week but who knows? Great sleep though, sounds like it was needed
Elocin
Helena had another decent sleep last night but had her vaccinations today so I think the poor little thing might be unsettled tonight. Poor thing screamed and went purple when they jabbed her :( my older girls didnt scream nearly as much, I felt so sorry for her but glad its out the way. Her 6 week check up went well
Im being lazy today and watching TV and messing around on the computer while dd2 is at family day care, should be doing something constructive but meh. We did walk from the Dr's to the shops as I didnt want to put H in and out the car too much and risk bumping her sore legs so I did do some exercise but that is about it! I also fell back asleep after I turned the alarm off this morning, luckily dd2 came in about 10 minutes later or we could have had a terribly rushed morning. My dog wont stop barking today grrr driving me up the wall!
Helena is doing that cute Im going to hug your boob really tight incase it dissapears when feeding. So cute, love it when they are snuggly like this
i used to always have morning showers but i have found i now need to have night time showers. just dont get the time to in the morning and after i am dressed etc then i'd forget about it, so i try and have one after dh gets home or after dinner, if Ryker is carrying on dh has to just have him for a few mins while i get my couple of minutes alone time (although half the time one or both boys come running in telling me something or fighting so aint really alone time lol)
Nic- i say your lack of sleep is making you feel more emotional than normal, and rightfully so, but like Skye said (it is true it doesnt last forever) i remember ppl telling me about the majical 12week mark when things get better, they can be awake and be "happy" etc, but going through it seemed like it would never end. And i also seem to recall their crying and needs can increase between 6-12 weeks so i think your in the mix of probably the toughest period right now.
my chiro adjusted me and boy did i need it! i do also need a massage but hey dont think thats about to happen any time soon. was nice to show Rykie off to my work mates and then i had a cofffee with one of the girls and fed him. I had a gift voucher from xmas to use at a shop near work so went for a stroll and bought some cool electric candle things, they have a remote control with it too, awesome around kids cause its not real flame but they look lovely
Today is my "baby" boy's 3rd birthday! I can't believe he's already 3. My little boy is growing up so fast! He starts the Montessori toddler program in less than a week. It's 2 hours once a week but its the first time he's going to be away from me (besides a couple of times with my parents). I'm feeling anxious about it, but I think he's going to go really well and cope fine. His birthday started with a lovely huge meltdown when I tried to give him his "mumma milk" on the couch instead of in my bed because Arlia had just fallen back to sleep in the bed. I tried to just ride it out and be nice, but once he pulled over the big toy wooden kitchen I popped him in his room for a couple of minutes and he came out a different child, lol. Since then we've all had a lovely day playing playdoh, baking a cake, playing with toy animals etc. Once Daddy gets home tonight we'll give him his presents which include a bunch of lovely wooden toys (learning type ones), a helmet and a BIKE! It's a balance bike that turns into a normal bike once he has the hang of it :)
You ladies all talking about how the bub's sleep at night got me curious, so last night I had a look at my phone each time Arlia woke. I fed her around 11.15pm then she woke around 1.45am (so 2 1/2 hours since last feed). Then she next woke at 5.45am-ish (so 4ish hours later). I think those were the times anyway. I just pull out a breast for her and go back to sleep, lol.
When I express I used to just store all of it in the one bag, so I had a whole bunch of bags with 180ml and above. Then I realised that when it came time to use them I would never use that whole amount at once and the extra would go to waste. So since then I only ever store about 60-80ml per bag. I've never actually used it for my own kids though. It's been donated to a couple of other babies that were in need. Oh, I lie, I forgot that there was a stash that was getting old so when Shayla was a newborn and had nasty hormone rash and heat rash I gave her a couple of baths in EBM :)
Shayla in a milky bath
Mylitta- Happy 3rd Birthday to Kyson!!
wow that milk bath looks so inviting lol! and Shayla is so gorgeous, was that entirely ebm or mixed with water?
i hate this time of day....wish i could hir someone for witching hour lol from the moment we get home from school its on with all 3 of them... if i dont have dinner already done or started before this time i swear no one would be eating
speaking of eating are you guys hungry? Far out i am always looking for food and what i would normally eat just doesnt even hit the sides now :)
need to start eating more healthy snacks as ive been finding myself going for the biscuits or whatever is just easy access. this arvo intead of going to the cubboard i went to the fridge and ate a bunch of rockmelon....need to do that more often though i dont wanna put on any weight
skybie - woot for showers!! I love that fresh feeling, when you've been able to wash/shave/condition hair/brush teeth/clean ears/moisturise - whatever it is that makes *you* feel brand spanky new ... love!
mylitta - nice work on the EBM bath! I could just about do that with my boys - I've got about 28 litres in the deep freeze now ... my boobs are always feeling so full, and while I'm trying not to pump too much (because I'm back in the office tomorrow, and won't just be able to pump whenever I feel like it, as will have meetings, train trips, appointments and other out-of-the-home-work!) I'm getting good amounts most pumps. And a great big happy birthday to Kyson!!
sararose - yay for snuggly times ... and yay for a relaxed day!
nickers - umm, not hungry too often, but am trying to grab a banana/apple/raisin toast/yoghurt etc when I get a mug of water and a decaf, when I get ready for each feed. If I eat something which is healthy (or healthyish!) when I do a feed, I'm ok - even if I then don't end up having time to make a proper lunch, or if I lose track of time completely or just forget ... my "best" easy healthy snacks are trail mix, plain yoghurt with a piece of fruit, or my fave is corn thins with a generous spread of hummus with tomato and a little good quality cheese (mersey valley is my favourite at the moment). I'll have 2 or 3 of these, with a huge mug of water as a bf snack - it's got carbs, protein and natural sugars all in one tasty and filling go. If I have more time and want something hot, I can't go past good old oats - I've got a great big homebrand bag of oats, sultanas, and a jar of honey all together in the cupboard, and I put 1/3 cup of oats and 10 sultanas in a big bowl with some cold water, microwave for 90 seconds (while I boil the jug) and then put in a teaspoon of honey, and it's just perfect on cold mornings for a healthy but filling brekky, and it also makes a good lazy snack if I don't want to be cleaning tomato and cheese off the chopping board later ;) so no, I'm not getting hungry, but I do often forget to eat - but I try to make sure I catch up the next feed ... DH has been really naughty in buying me nice things to eat (blue cheese, chocolate, icecream, neenish tarts etc) because he knows that bf can take it out of you physically - but I don't want to replace it with stuff like that!! I'm also going to the gym, so I've lost some weight since DS2 was born (and I actually lost some weight during the pregnancy ...) but I don't know overall whether it's from eating well or exercise or breastfeeding or a combination ... as I'm back in the office tomorrow, I've made all those pre-cooked lunches, and some sugarfree jellies with fruit in the bottom, and have also taken oats, sultanas and honey, corn thins, etc, and I'll take some salad sticks and chopped up fruit also so I can behave while I'm at work, rather than getting too hungry and grabbing something unhealthy from the cafe downstairs or whatever ...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGHHH! Maternity leave is over in a few hours.
And tomorrow I already have a breakfast meeting, a lunch meeting (where I may have to give a speech), a team meeting (which I'm running) and I expect to have to meet formally with at least 2 of the Directors I report to ... and I'm anticipating needing to express at least 3 or 4 times tomorrow, given that I'll be on a train before 7am and I don't expect to get home before 7pm ...
Pray for me ladies ... please!
Good luck tmrw peanutter! Sounds like you'll be right in the thick of it from the very start.
