Babies Born ~ March 2012 #3

Thanks Sloane! Not long-winded at all :)

W is all lined up for lessons from September when she's six months-ish. Found a great new place with lovely facilities and only eight babies to a class. No wait list, we just call the week before and they add more classes if they need to. Think it might be a fun one for DH to do on Saturdays.

Next on the list: schools. This one is going to cause arguments for sure. DH wants private all the way, I'm all for public, so we'll see. I went public and look how good I turned out!

I've barely seen our little seagull the past couple of days, she's been sleeping heaps after her rough day earlier in the week; she even re-settled after an hour's nap earlier, which never happens. Am wondering if it might be a growth spurt, as all of her 000s are really tight and her feet are pushing out the end of her swaddles! It feels like she got heavier and longer overnight. Waiting for her to wake up now so we can go for a walk. She still hates the pram, so am going to try wrapping her up so it feels like her bassinette.

Hi Girls!

My exam went well, at least I think it did. Will have to wait until results are released to find out exactly how I did. I ended up leaving them with 150ml of expressed milk and DD1 was so excited at the prospect of feeding the baby and then they didn't even need it! I finished the exam early so was home an hour before I thought I'd be and she was asleep on DF so I popped it into the freezing for another time :) I actually used a tip, I can't remember who posted it, but I fed bub and then expressed from the other boob at the same time. Also got her to latch on to get another let down a couple of times. Was way easier than what I remember the first time round.

We are doing well, been super busy in a good way. Miss M is loving reaching out and grabbing things at the moment. The pram is good, they didn't have the second seat so I had to order that online and then it rained for 3-4 days so we've only been for a couple of walks.

Buffy - Glad to hear your little miss is settling better. What kind of techniques do they teach you at sleep school? I suppose the hardest thing is then going home and trying to implement the same things whilst also having a life and trying to schedule things around sleeps. DD is feeding around every 3 hours during the day and a bit more frequently in the lead up to bed time. That sounds like an awesome b'day present for your DH! We won't be doing swimming lessons here until at least 18months. The pool here is not heated and closes from May-August I think so probably end of next year we'll start.

Nickers - I really hope that you are getting a break from all of this sickness! I can't believe that so many kids from the same class all came down with it. Maybe the school needs to implement some regular handwashing throughout the day. I hate it when people let their sick kids out to infect everyone else. We stopped going to playgroup because even the coordinator would take her kids when they had green snot dripping out of their noses!

PN - hope your DH's exam went well too! Did you decide on what you're going to do for your b'day? No teeth here yet, although she does love me massaging her gums and is drooling heaps and sticking everything in her mouth. She found her thumb yesterday, it is soo cute. Will have to post some pics from the computer. I fed DD1 til she was 18 months and she never bit me once, did plenty of pulling her head away with my nipple still in her mouth though.

Sloane - Your DS is going to love his party! DD1 had a big party for her 2nd b'day and still remembers it. We did cake with some balloons for her 3rd birthday with my parents and her best little friend and she loved it just as much. They're easy to please at this age, a few balloons, cake and lollies and they're happy. Is K still feeding every 2 hours? I bet the ABA are always looking for passionate people to become counsellors, sounds like a great idea. I think I remember reading somewhere that it takes 2 years to do the training, have you looked into it?

Elocin - Sending you hugs! Definitely get your rocking chair in your room asap! The cold could be waking C up even more as well, making it harder to get him back to sleep. How did your visit with the inlaws go? Enjoy your weekend away :)

Sararose - Yay for H sleeping through! Can't see it happening anytime soon here, DD1 didn't until after 18 months

Skybie - Did your older girls have dummies too? DD1 never took one. I tried to give DD2 one and she likes to suck on it but I have to hold it there. But now that she's found her thumb she probably won't need it.

Razzberry - Hope your DS' belly starts to settle down soon. You are doing the right thing for your kids, try not to beat yourself up about it.

Miss E - Yay for self settling, let's hope he keeps it up! My DD wakes around the same times, 1.30 and 4.30, unless she goes to bed later then she's normally awake around 4 and 6.30. It is hard to manage 2, isn't it? I often think that it's harder to handle DD1 because we haven't done it before, whereas a baby seems easy to take care of now. Hopefully when we have a third bub DD2 as a toddler will seem easy as well. Try to stay calm and take a breath before you react to things. That's what I'm trying to follow atm, makes me less likely to yell at DD1

LCT76 - I actually made Milana's dress to match the one I bought for DD1. Another pic I'll put on my list to post when I get on the main computer.

Mylitta - How are you going, is Arlia still grumpy in the evenings? Less clingy? I am dreading the day that DD2 starts rolling and sitting up. I can leave her on the change table and she is happy to watch the mobile and listen to the music which goes for 20mins. Do you have anything like that to keep her occupied, bouncer or swing maybe?

Rosey- How is your DD's sleeping going?

Elocin Hope you are enjoying your getaway even if it has been a bit wet up that way

Nickers has illness now left your poor house? Are you still managing to express between illness and all the school and kindy runs?

Rosey hope you are going okay?

Fuzzy sounds like everyhting went well for your exam and yay for having some frozen EBM now if you do need/want to be apart from Miss M

Miss E hope you and the boys are doing okay? I get what you mean, its more about DS1 having to share your attention than the quality/amount of attention. Sharing is not soemthing kids that age do well at :(. Its part of being a family but can be stressful until one day it will be the norm. Sounds like you are doing everything you can to help your big boy transition and find his place in your family of four


Peanutter how were your birthdya celebrations? Did you end up going out?

Buffy how is Miss W? She looked so cozy in her purple winter pram warmer thingo :) We started DD1 swimming at 6 months but stopped around 12 months when she had a couple of ear infections. We started again when DD2 was about 2 and DD1 was around 4. Probably wont start H until she is 2 as with three kids doing it it would be over $50 a week! Its great fun for them though if you have them time and can afford it. We will take H to the pool and put her in Popas pool when we visit. We also let water splash on the kids faces in the bath from little so they get used to it. Swimming is something DH does with the girls, he was also the one that had to get in the water when we started dd2!

Helena is doing well, 12 weeks old and getting longer and longer :( shes not a tiny newborn anymore but we are starting to see her sweet little personality. Where does the time go? She is just starting to reach for things, her toes are the main item on the agenda. The look of concentration is amazing. H is still sleeping well, she does feed almost hourly from 4-5pm until bed at 9-10pm which can be frustrating as I only seem to get 30 ish min blocks to do anything else. If DH isn't home its feed, put dinner on and big girls eat, feed, I eat, feed then H bath, feed then DD1 and DD2 bath, feed then big girls story and bed. Im now in the habit of prepping dinner early in the day to make things a bit easier. If DH is home he does the baths which makes it easier. Shouldn't complain though.

We have now moved H to her own room :cry: she seems quite happy in there and loves having her nappy changed a her change table is now under a cute wooden mobile I got when pregnant. She could stare at them for hours and sometimes tries to reach for them. We are now using the baby monitor and it was a bit disconcerting last night hearing a fart coming from the bedside table! Think I might need to turn the volume down a bit more :)

Fuzzy, so glad your exam went well. Bet you're glad it's over! Nice work on the expressing, I find it difficult unless W is feeding or I'm holding/near her. Are you having a good weekend?

The techniques at 'baby rehab' were all the usual hands-on comforting things, so pat/shhhh and escalate as needed (rocking, dummy, cuddle then put back down etc). Mainly to help get bub to sleep in her bassinette and make sure we didn't miss her tired signs. She's not the sort of baby to just drift off, unfortunately! Also realised that her feeds had a lot to do with it (serial snacker). It was all pretty simple stuff, we were over-complicating things and not following her cues. Stupid books, stupid Google, stupid well-meaning family members!

Sararose, wow, H is 12 weeks :o Hard to believe how much she's grown. It must be lovely to watch her personality unfold. Great that she's sleeping well, though you must find the cluster feeding exhausting. How are you feeling about her being in her own room? LOL re the sounds you hear! DH told me he heard W burp through the wall at 1:30am :)

Rosey, are you ok? Getting any sleep hon? Have been thinking about you.

Pretty quiet one here. DH has to work tomorrow, which I'm a bit bummed about, but ah well. W has been a little unsettled during the day though pretty good sleeps at night. Yesterday I lay down for a nap at 7:00pm when she conked out; I got up briefly at 11:00pm to eat and then she didn't wake til 1:00!! Back down 2:00-6:00am, yowza. Trying not to get used to it, she likes to mix it up :lol:

She's also discovered her hands and spent most of tonight jamming as much of her fist into her mouth as she could. My favourite thing is still her 'talking', which is adorable, especially when she's doing it with her mouth full or when I'm trying to get her down for a nap. She's such a flirt, she'll do anything to avoid a sleep!

Have had to pack away some of her 000s and break out some of the 00s, which is crazy. She's got a long torso like me, so is getting the length but not the width of the 00s yet.

On the downside, I think I have thrush again. Ugh, so frustrating. Must be stopping the Daktarin too early, sigh.

Wow, so much of that is so similar to Arlia at the moment. She found her hands a couple of weeks ago, but in the last few days she's been putting them to her mouth a lot more. A few times we've noticed her sucking a finger while she sleeps (but never her thumb, lol). My Shayla has always sucked the back of her hand instead of her thumb and still does it all the time. She even has a little red spot that is a little calloused from it, lol.

Arlia is a little chatterbox! She has the sweetest little voice and coos and has huge conversations with me. She's so engaging as well and maintains eye contact the whole time she's "talking" to me. It's so adorable. My other two never talking like this as much as she is. I'm sure it bodes well for her toddler years when questions are repeated over and over and over and over, lol.

She's also moving into the 00's. Most of her 000 jumpsuits are definitely too small for her now. She's in one now, but it's a very generous 000 and still fits her... just. The 00's fit better but seem to be a little long in the legs. I just pop some fluffy PP booties on with them to keep her little tootsies warm and then you can't tell they are long ;) Anyone else hate that bubba toes always seem cold in jumpsuits? My kiddies have always either worn booties over the jumpsuit or sock underneath them during winter.

Anyway, would love to stay and do a whole lot of persies, but I have soooooo much to do at the moment. Arlia is asleep in the ergo on me so I'm going to take the opportunity to do a bunch of typing that Kyson's Montessori school have asked me to do. They ask parents to help out for 2 hours each term. Well so far this typing has taking me about 6 hours AT LEAST! And I still have quite a bit to go. I hope this time can be used for the other terms as well...

Ahhh..... think the foot grabbing was the start of a wonder week. Have had a very cling, cranky girl the last two days. She has been feeding all the time and only cat napping. Hoping it passes soon, luckily DH is home tomorrow but then going in for the snip and a cystoscopy on Wednesday so Im sure Ill have a sooky DH Thursday. Hopefully Helena will be happier then

Mylitta, Arlia sounds just gorgeous. The talking is so lovely to hear! Yes, I've noticed W's feet get chilly in onesies so tend to put socks on her. How did you go with all that typing supermum?

Sara, hope Miss H sails through her wonder week without too many more dramas. Imagine all the whirring and clicking going on in that little brain! Amazing (tiring for mum though). All the best for your DH's snip this week. Ouchies!

Hi ladies!!!

I hope you are all going well!

Our little wkd away was fantastic, although we had to cut it short due to bad weather. It was great to get away for a few days and catch up with friends.

C sleep really well in his portacot and adapted really well to being in a different environment.

We are down to one wake up at night between 8pm and 6am which is lovely. Actually this mornings wake up (2.30am) was more like a dream feed, so tonight when I hear him stirring I need to just leave him to see if he will actually go back / stay asleep...

Day naps have made a very welcome return and I'm getting a couple of at least one hour stretches out of him.

He's asleep on me at the moment and I'm very aware of how quickly all of this is going all of a sudden. Watching him change and growing is making so happy but sad at the same time... Does that make sense? He is so responsive now - I lie him on my legs facing me and sing the alphabet to him and he chats along, singing and cooing at me.

I was just looking at the photos of when we were in the hospital and I've got tears in my eyes... It's gone so quickly!!

Aw E :hug: I know exactly what you mean. Your beautiful boy is growing up too fast!

Nice work on the evening stints; and so great to hear he's rediscovered the day naps, woo hoo! Maybe you just need to move to Byron Bay? Let me know if you can't and I will! I think there's something about being on holiday - must be that everyone is so relaxed. More holidays, I say.

How's everyone travelling this week? Skye, I think I saw that A has been giving you a bit of grief? :shakehead:

AFM: Last few days have been up and down, big day sleeps of last week are out the window for the return of the 45 minute catnapper! None of my fab new techniques have been cutting it either. Late yesterday arvo I was ready to chuck W (gently and lovingly, of course) out the window when I cut out all the rocking, patting, shhhhhhhh-ing etc, gave her the dummy and walked out. Had to replace it about a billion times but she eventually when down and we didn't hear a peep out of her for hours.

Well, she must have been doing all her growing last week and over the weekend, because she feels heavier again and has been eating me out of house and boob. Night sleeps are fine though, 1-2 wakeups between 10:00ish and 6ish which is great. She's still fascinated by her reflection, hands and seems to be discovering her feet too. But the biggest change has been her first giggle! Oh my goodness, what an amazing sound. I blew raspberries on her belly and she started cacking herself. So damn cute.

Wanted to ask you ladies, any tips for helping W overcome her newfound hate of the car? She screams, even on short trips, but calms down and smiles as soon as she sees me. I think it might be a bit of separation anxiety, because she's the same in the pram now too. Perhaps it's just a phase? I'm looking into wraps that I can use for a back carry as I think she'd really like that (she gets a bit claustrophobic in front).

Buffy, all of mine have gone through a car hating phase unfortunately. Arlia is currently in it :( From memory it only lasted for about 2-3 months for my other two. It's horrible though isn't it. Mine don't even settle if you are sitting in the back with them and talking, touching and looking at them. Luckily sometimes Arlia will fall asleep within a couple of minutes of getting in the car and not start crying, but if she starts crying she can keep going for half an hour! It's heartbreaking.

I've got a hugabub that can be used for a back carry, but I could never pull off the child wrangling and manage to get them on my back with the wrap around them securely enough to feel comfortable. I probably wouldn't use a back carry until about 6 months though until their necks muscles are super strong. Ergo carriers are fantastic for both front and back carrying, but I don't find it comfortable for me or bub until about 6 months for either way. After that I LOVE it!

I finally got all the typing done for Kyson's Montessori. It took me about 10 hours all up as a guess. There was so much! I would hate to have been the person that originally hand wrote it all.

Arlia is still going really well. I was a little worried last night when she was refusing to fall asleep. I had her in the carrier and she usually falls asleep straight away. Well I managed to stand at my computer desk, rocking, and watched an entire episode of grey's anatomy on the laptop before she finally nodded off. She's been sleeping really good at night though and even did 7 1/2 hours in a row a couple of nights ago. I think in general she wakes for a roll over feed around 11pm, then wakes once during the night, and then has a sleepy-feed in the morning around 6-7am that we both doze through and go back to sleep. Sometimes I give her a little more around 8am when hubby is leaving for work and I can usually manage to slip out of bed with her still asleep. It's strange having a good night sleeper because the other two fed 2-3 hourly overnight for probably the first year at least.

Sound like Miss W is having a bit of a growth spurt atm with all of this eating and fussing. I hope she rediscovers her grooves with her sleep soon... Staying awake seems like so much more fun!

Thank god I'm not alone with a car-hating kid... I went to visit a friend last week who lives about 30 mins away & C man cried the whole way. It makes me feel terribly guilty, but like W, he calms down as soon as he sees me. Funnily enough, he seems to know when we're in the car for a long trip and he slept perfectly the whole way to and from Byron! Fingers crossed it doesn't last too much longer.

First official giggles here tonight too. DH and I spent a good 5 minutes jumping around the change table after it happened and the next 10 minutes trying to make it happen again!!

Hi ladies, Helena has been a bit happier the last few days but still fussy when feeding. Sounds like all our little ones have found their sense of humour :). Mum heard Helena laugh today, made her day. DH had his vasectomy and dilation done today, he is staying in over night was he didn't get out of surgery until 7pm which is a bit of a pain as it will cost us $250 for an overnight stay but he's happy he gets to watch the state of origin from a reclining bed, think he is wishing he had some beer through ;)

We took DD2 to her Kindy Tuesday to pick up the enrolment forms, she is so confident, just toddled off and had a go it evthing while we were chatting with the director. Don't think we will have any separation anxiety issues next year, I'm a bit sad they are all growing up so fast but they are all doing really well.

Buffy and elocin so can't help with the car hating my kids only did it very occasionally. Do yoave toys or mirrors to distract them? We all was have a small dangling toy in their view as they don't get to see a lot back there

Mylitta Arlia's morning sounds like Helena's wake up at 6-7 and has a feed then she feeds about 8.15 again, I think she stocks up after her big night sleep. It does mean I have a small window to gr everyone fed, dressed and ready for school though. I tend to get H up when she makes her first sound in the morning dose may go a bit longer if I let her like we did on the weekend but then my morning would be a disaster and DD1 would end up at school I'm her pj's lol. Hope you got to watch some more greys anatomy but sitting down this time

Addison hates the car too, she has to be fed and happy otherwise she screams the whole trip which isnt fun.
sararose, whats the dilation part? i dont think i can let adam get snipped, as much as i dont want to be on contraception forever i dont think i can take the choice of another baby away from us permenantly just yet.
chubs is doing well, feeding and sleeping, shes starting to get such a personality, its just gorgeous. She's a real snuggle bug and smooshes her face into mine in bed when she's trying to get to sleep.
Addisons feeds sound much the same always at 6-630 then she'll sleep till its time to go to school which makes mornings so much easier.
she fed a few times overnighth last night but i think it was more to help her get back to sleep than an actual feed itms?
i woke up yesterday to her trying to suck on my nose, was very funny!

Hi Ladies! Sorry I've been MIA, we've been having a bit of a tough time here. DS1, DS2 and I all have colds and DS1 was up vomitting last night. But Cooper has also been really unhappy for the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I noticed that his hip popped a couple of times when he moved his leg, so we went to the GP this morning. She has referred us for an US to check for hip dysplacia and also prescribed Zantac because she thinks he may have reflux. I'm really hoping the Zantac helps and praying that his hip is ok. Sorry for the lack of persies, doing it a bit tough at the moment with DS1 home sick and Cooper really unhappy. I have been reading though and promise I will be back and joining in the chatter soon x

Miss E - I have heaps of experience with reflux babies (as my daughter 2.5) still has it and is having an endoscopy next week to see why she still suffers. and DS also has it swell. If you don't find the zantac works ask for losec- much more effective for us!

Skybie naww love the nose sucking! The dilation is because he has a problem with part of his urethra growing over which makes it dificult to pee so while he was having that sorted I said why not get the snip :lol: we are definitely done with three, after dd2 I felt like you but now Im sure.

Miss E sorry you are having such a rough time, I really hope cCoppers hips are ok

DH home today watching movies and trying to protect himself from some boisterous girls. H had a big morning sleep, first time in days so Im happy. Also got my new knee high flat boots today, so comfy and they look good

Miss E, big hugs for you hon. I'm sorry it's been so rough. This time of year is the worst for bugs and germs. Poor little boys, and you must be exhausted too. I hope Coop's hip ultrasound is clear and that the Zantac kicks in soon. As Razz said apparently Losec is good too, my SIL's little one is on it and is a completely different baby.

Sararose, glad Helena is a bit brighter. How lovely that your mum heard her giggle! Fab that DD2 did so well with Kindy Tuesday and by the sounds of things will really enjoy it once it starts. How's your DH tonight? PS your boots sound gorgeous, what colour??

Skybie, how lovely that Addison is such a cuddly bub. I cacked myself when I read that she was sucking on your nose! Funny bunny :) W was so starving after a three-hour nap last week that as soon as I lifted my top up she started sucking my belly. There was drool everywhere.

Hello to the other ladies.

Kinda nice to hear I don't have the only car ride scream-a-puss. Did add another toy to the capsule today and put on some tunes that I sing to W when she's unsettled, and only had minor fussing :dance:. She's a Beatles fan, though seems to prefer the McCartney numbers rather than Lennon - so definitely not her mama's girl :lol:. Had a weight and height check, all fine - she's finally over the 5kg mark and hitting the 50th percentiles for everything: "little Miss Average," as the doctor said. Must remember to tell W that when she's old enough, should do wonders for her self-esteem! LOL.

Ended up buying a woven wrap and a mei tai to try out some back carries with my little stickybeak. I'm really uncoordinated though, hope I can work them out. Am sure Youtube will help. Wish me luck, I need it.

That's exactly how I felt after we had Shayla. Hubby was ready for the snip, and I was dealing with the thought of never having another baby, but I wasn't ready for the finality of a vasectomy. It's one thing to say you are never having another baby, but a whole different thing emotionally to KNOW you can never have another. That's how our little surprise came along, lol. As much as it saddens me that I'll never be pregnant again and have another baby, I know how much hubby doesn't want another and am super thankful that I have Arlia, so I'm accepting of the snip this time. Hubby is booked in for next month some time.

Must be hard Mylitta and Skye. We were only ever going to have one (originally none!) so the baby factory is well and truly closed.

W is well, I think she's been trying to roll - she turns her head to the side, pulls her legs up and attempts to move them to the left, but no dice. Very funny watching her concentrate so hard and get all frustrated. The spirit is willing but the body is weak!

Her other new game is to pull off while nursing to grin at me, repeating over and over. Adorable but kinda frustrating too. Still on BF, pretty sure she's been getting a tummy ache after I've eaten chocolate. I cut it out for a few days and then tried some this morning - sure enough, a few hours later she was super gassy and very unsettled. Bummer (literally!).

DS2 slept for 10 hours last night!!!

We had no idea he was going to do that, so we didn't know to go to bed early ourselves ... but I snuck a 3 hour nap this arvo :)

Feeling ok, just very tired, and run pillar to post.

Buffy sounds like willow is turning up the cuteness emter, I love it when they smile when feeding even i can be a bit messy lol.

Mylitta hope your hubby copes with the snip alright. DH survived that quite well but has gone down with man flu again and now I have a cough :(

My boots are a nice brown colour as I have heaps of black boots. I also ordered some nice knit dresses that fit well and look nice only problem is I can't breastfeed in them :doh: maybe Ill wear them next winter! Helena is still doing well, now rolling onto her side and trying to wriggle over towards us if we lir on the floor with her, very cute. She's not quite ready to roll over completely yet. She is also reaching for things all the time but cant hold on for very long. Still not talking heaps but otherwise doing well. Had her weighed and everything is thracking along nicely

I'm sorry I've been a bad baby buddy. I've been finding mothering rather overwhelming lately and making time to Belly Belly has been put last on the to do list. I'm to far gone now to do proper persies so I'll just do the last page :)

AFM - we've had a handful of sleep thru's which seem to come out of nowhere... My poor boobies didn't know what hit them.... Apart from that sleep is really not flash. day sleeps are still on me & mostly only catnaps. Its a mission getting her to sleep (usually takes 2ish hours to get her down for the night with feeding, walking, rocking etc.) *After waking during the night for a feed we usually can't get her back down - she will only catnap. We went to the pediatrician and he suspects reflux... He prescribed mylanta & gaviscon (adult versions). We used it last night & I cried giving it to her but my DH wanted to try it. It doesn't feel right... I don't like the smell, look or idea of it. The ped said it doesn't get into the blood stream so it's fine, but I can't see how it wouldn't get absorbed even a little. Has anyone used mylanta & gaviscon????? *I felt she might *have a food allergy due to the fact her symptoms seem to be worsening. I am feeling overwhelmed & don't know what to do. I always thought I'd do alright at being a Mum but I'm not feeling it anymore.*

No giggles here :( but she's Rockin some cool baby talk. I love when she yells and surprises herself! Bath time is seeing some fancy leg work now with lots of*splashing. Fist & finger sucking is her fav thing ATM, she gets such a look of fierce concentration while doing it to. Growing like a weed already weighing in at 6.7kilos.*

Rosey did the paed say how long it would take for the meds to work? Its so hard knwoing what to do but as a parent most of the time going with your gut is the best thing you can do. You are doing better than alright at being a Mum, you are loving her, growing her beautifully and you are trying to make the best decisions for your little girl, unortunately even if people tell you about it beforehand, handling the self doubt that comes with being a parent is always a hard. For me its a little better now but there is always something you question, I think it makes us better parents though by questioning our decsions, not to berate ourselves if we have made mistakes, but to think what might be better next time.

Rosey - reflux sucks big time! Thanks for asking bout my DD - she is having the endoscopy next friday! will let you know how she goes and what they find, her symptoms are very different as a toddler than when she was a newborn. DS is 12 weeks this tuesday and he is on losec for his reflux swell as now fully weaned onto neocate formula (hypoallergenic) for a suspected cows milk protein allergy. What you described with you dd with the catnaps and only wanting to sleep on you (assume she likes being upright cause its more comfortable for her and the rocking, walking and unsettledness and not being able to get her back to sleep sounds like classic reflux symptoms. Its good she is a good weight- though don't let docs tell you she is her reflux is ok just cause her weight is ok - as reflux bubs tend to overeat(as it soothes their throats) or don't put on weight. My DD put on stacks in the first 3 months and then started losing the weight very fast as she worked out what was causing her the pain. Mylanta and gaviscon are not meds that should be used long term for cubs with reflux, its usually zantac or losec, though most say to try mylanta first to see if it has any effect. I know its hard not to question yourself as a mum, as I was constantly second guessing myself with DD. People are saying to me know you seem so relaxed this time it must be cause he is your second but - but I know that has nothing to do with it. My DD was in much more pain and discomfort than I seven realised and I felt helpless and like people didn't believe me when I talked about her screaming, crying and no sleeping. I know most mothers complain about getting no sleep, but I seriously had hardly any sleep her first year. Please push the docs for answers and treatment as it only gets worse (for her and you if you leave it). The reason why you think her symptoms are getting worse as the damage to her throat will be getting worse over time, so when she does start meds it will still take a few weeks for her oesophagus to heal.
anyways thats just my thoughts on reflux but def worth getting her on meds to see if they help. sending a hug xxx

We must be going through a wonder week here, got an overtired, non sleeping grumpy baby :( combined with a 3 going on 13 year old.

DD rolled for the first time today on her playmat and I caught it on video on my phone. She was pretty impressed with herself.

Rosey, big hugs sweetpea. You're not doing anything wrong, you're doing everything right! But it's totally normal to feel the way you do, as Sararose said the self-doubt you have as a parent is no fun at all (especially coupled with sleepless nights and the possibility of reflux). I really hope it gets sorted soon, I agree that you should pursue treatment - you will know in your heart what will and won't work for your DD, truly. Don't do anything you're uncomfortable with but definitely see the dr again if you want to try something else. In the meantime, keep telling yourself what a fabulous job you're doing with your little girl. It sounds like she's growing beautifully and developing a gorgeous personality.

Sararose, I'd love to see H wriggling! Clever poppet, won't be long before she's on the move. Crazy to imagine really. Boots sound great, I do love winter accessories.

Hello to Elocin, Skye, Mylitta, nickers (are you guys germ-free yet?), lct, me-lisa and anyone I missed.

W is better after an unsettled couple of days - stupid chocolate - though still cat-napping all day, much to our mutual frustration. She's super-chatty though, spent 20 minutes talking to the shelf at 6:00 before getting me up to play with her. Didn't even want to feed after three hours! Little minx. In more exciting news (well, for me anyway!) we tried a back carry with a woven wrap, and while she hated the process she loved the end result! We had quite the fun jaunt around the house in our pjs looking at stuff. So excited to venture out with it.

Edit: actually wondering now if W is going through the 12 week WW; she's feeding every 1.5-2 hours again (only for short periods before fussing), wants to feed to sleep (never, ever does this during the day), then there's the catnaps, wants to be held/not held, all the cooing etc....hmmmmmmmm......lightbulb moment, anyone?

Work is still pretty mental, but I have today off because it's DS1's playgroup birthday party!! He had an awesome time :)

And then DS1's 2 year check up at the MHCN is today too! He's a shorty but I think all his development things are on track ...

DS2 seems to have had a growth spurt - or at least a chub spurt! - over the past week, so that's good. He's always been a good size, but has been on the low end of weight which was starting to be a bit worrying even though he *looks* fine. But he's chubbed up in the face and got a new layer over the ribs, so we'll see where this goes.

Oh noes! DH has just got DS up for his MHCN appointment, and he has a croupy cough, and some huskiness in his throat!! That wasn't there this morning. Poo. I hope he's not sick - and I hope that if he is, that it doesn't spread any further!!

I'm sure there's some Redipret (sp?) around here somewhere ... will wait and see what the MHCN says ...

Fuzzy the joys of threenagers! Even sick DD2 is giving me attitude during the day! How clever of M to roll, you did well to catch it on video, I never manage to get anything on video/photo! Still struggling to get a smile fro H on camera as she gets all serious when the camera comes out

AFM Man lu has spread and DD2 was up at 1 am crying pointing at her throat :( after some nurofen and a cuddle she perked up a bit and said sorry for waking me up, had to reassure her she can wake me up whenever she is sore/sick :(. I also have a cough and am achey, hopefully it doesnt lsat long. Mum is picking dd1 up from school for me so I dont have to take the littlies out in the cold. H woke up at 4 last night, almost killed me after getting up to dd1 first, don't think the disturbed nights sleep will help me fight this off

Giving H some nappy free time today and once again she peed on her blanket, everytime we give her nappy time she pees! What are everyone elses bubs doing poo wise? H seems to go 4 days without doing one ok and by day five has wind and pain, I feel so sorry for her, I've found putting her in her swing helps move things along but it is revolting when she goes, yellow/green sludge! Glad thats over for a few days now!

I suspect the concern has arisen because he was such a big baby at birth (9 pound 10!) but now is down to approx 10-20th pc ...

But I'm a lot calmer now - he eats well, his sleep is fine albeit irregular (but over any 24 hours, he gets plenty ITMS), he is engaged and happy and wets plenty and poos most days.

He cries a bit - but not excessively ... I just hate it when he cries, because he's my son!

He despises tummy time and screams blue murder when we put him down for tummy time - but that's nothing to do with whether he's underweight ...

Life goes on, right?

feeling blah and peeved off after a failed Mirena insertion today at my OB appt. My dumb cervix is too tighly shut with scar tissue so i went through all the yukkiness of it and nothing at the end.
im annoyed cause i told my ob several times my last ob with tyron beleived he would have to do it in theatre because of this exact reason but he didnt seem concerned. he never inspected me down there b4 cause i was always having a c/s and havent had a pap smear with him b4.
so if i decide to have it done under GA i cant drive for 24hrs so would need kids minded, help with school etc it seems like a whole lot of effort. but i dont like the sounds of the arm one, has anyone had it b4?
we didnt use anything after tyron as ive always known my cycle and just been carefull, so need to speak to dh when he gets home.
We have Rykers christening vthis sunday, looking forward to dressing the whole family up i got the big boys a nice vest and tie lol (although ds1 doesnt like the feel of a tie) i cant believe my little charmer will be 3 months old on Sunday. he has found his hands and loves starring at them & trying to eat them! and i think he is teething omg! rosey cheeks, dribbling, can see white on the bottom two and hes been a bit of a grumble bum. Ty was 4m when he cut his first tooth, slow down buddy.

Nickers, I had the implanon a few years ago and didn't find it that great... It was ok to begin with, but after awhile I ended up with pretty much permanent spotting. I ended up having it out after about a year. But everyone is different and responds differently so it could be perfectly fine for you. Good thing about it is that it is relatively easy to have put in and taken out.

Nickers, sorry the appointment didn't go well hon. Hope you find something that will work for you. R's christening will be lovely, you must be looking forward to it. Can't believe he might already be teething!

Peanutter, your DS sounds the picture of health. I hate the weight charts, all they do is stress you out. How was your day off?

So, so tired. W is feeding (well, snacking) every 2 hours again - my boobs are huge! - and longest stretch of sleep overnight is 2.5-3. Day naps are about 45 minutes on the dot. She's super happy but mama is exhausted. Trying to remind myself that it will pass. Have asked a question about it in the BF thread, but happy for some reassurance here too!!

We did have a nice bath together this morning after she did a #3 that went up the back, all over her legs and feet, clothes and linen. Jumped in the bath, got us both all clean and snuggie and settled her back down for another nap. Went into the other room and jumped at what I thought was a door slamming or car backfiring. It was neither - just my sweet angel doing another massive crap. DH didn't find it as funny as I did.

buffy: day off was lovely! DS1 had an absolute blast.

today however, my baby has a black eye! Well, a bruise under it, and two little cuts ... he was playing a game with DH, where he would launch himself against DH's back / side / front when DH least expected it, like it or not ... well, one of the launches was when DS1 was sitting on the couch next to DH while DH folded washing, and DS1 quickly stood up and launched! But he FLEW right over DH's lap, and landed face first onto a heavy plastic laundry basket! Ouchies :(

Sorry I haven't been around too much... have been dyyyyyying of this horrid cold that just won't leave. DH has been home from work all week as well, but looking at C you wouldn't even know he was unwell. He's full of snot and has a bit of a cough but is just so happy and loving life. We get smiles and giggles without really working for them now which is awesome. The only way I know he's unwell as he gets really quiet in the late afternoon / night time when it cools down. Not much chatting, just lots of staring. But he certainly makes up for that in the mornings - kid never shuts up!! He reached out and grabbed my necklace while feeding last night for the first time - not just throwing his hand up and randomly grabbing it.

Peanutter, glad to hear your day off we nice! Poor DS, I hope it heals quickly!!

Buffster, awesome news again on the back wrap success!! I'm glad W enjoyed it. Bummer on the #3... blergh. I told you - kids are GROSS!! :)

How has W been since you cut out (down?) the chocolate? I'm finding I have been able to increase the amount of dairy I'm eating which is super exciting... hooray for chocolate and cheese and REAL butter!

Awww, Nic, you poor love. I hope you can come to a decision soon. I don't want to go back on the pill either as I was on it for so long.. I just want everything to go back to normal without the assistance of anything medical for once. How exciting that R's christening is so soon!! I can't wait to see pictures!

SaraRose, sounds like the cold weather is affecting your house as well... I hope everyone is feeling better soon. Poo's are similar here, every 3-4 days and are definitely more sludgey then they used to be.

I'm knackered, three sick kids is not fun, they all ended up in bed with me over night so I'm very sleep deprived. It's hard enough watching my big girls feel miserable when they are sick but at least they can tell me what's wrong, poor Helena has been whimpering so much, breaks my heart. I have given her some baby panadol which seems to have helped a bit, she is wanting lots of cuddles and is still feeding ok, only one side at a time but more frequently. I think she has the body ache we all got at the start of it . Just want to hold her but she has gone down in her cot okay, hopefully she can sleep it off

Meant to ask you wise ladies about transitioning from swaddling to arms out. I want C to start sleeping in his GroBag because he keeps kicking his blankets off in his sleep.

What's the best way to do it? One arm out for a few days? Cold turkey straight to arms out and see what happens?

So... have noticed a bit of yellow pussy gunk on C's eye this afternoon. I'm assuming it's a bit of viral conjunctivitis going along with the wee cold he's got. Should I take him to the GP or will a BM facial every couple of hours do the job to clear things up?

E - Willow had something similar in the early days. I squirted in BM initially but it wasn't clearing up as fast as I'd hoped. Ended up getting saline solution from chemist, worked a treat. RE: chocolate, it's banished :( hope your household is on the mend soon lovely. Sounds like your little man is keeping everyone entertained, so cute!
