lil_chookie - Glad to hear all is settling in well. Are you able to tell us a little of your daughters background?

Just quickly...Darcie is DESPERATE to move....those with crawlers, how did you encourage it? D's leg just keeps getting stuck under her. Doesn't help she keeps sliding on this floor! She has also been UBER clingy....bad! Anyone else dealing with the megga velcro baby!?

I know I just moved countries, but I can barely move more than a metre away from D without her cracking it. Also Max! I'm only one person, and I'm finding it so hard to pay equal attention to them. I think poor Maxy is getting the short straw, and I'm feeling pretty bad about it. :(

To top it off I have the biggest coldsore ever...it's been YEARS since i've had one...boo hoo to me!

I put toys around that rolled (a water bottle with glitter and shiny things) if she wanted it she had to get her leg out from under her. :)

I'm so slack with replying in here... i do pop in a check up on you all though.
Dealing with lots at the moment with sleep of both kids and other stuff.

Hi Ladies

Yules I hear you completely on the clingy thing. Day care turned into hell the week just gone, with Alyssa screaming if I even put her down to put her lunch in the fridge there. Apparently she is fine all day once I'm gone, but still won't eat or drink properly. Even here at home if I move for 2 minutes she screams. She must still be going through her "wonder time". It does make it really hard though & I would just love 2 minutes alone sometimes, but I hate to hear her scream too.

Re the crawling, I think seeing other kids at daycare crawl made Alyssa realise she could do it. She was showing signs & going backwards, but hadn't put together forwards till daycare. I agree with Sunshine though, put things she loves just out of reach & "make" her get them for herself.

Chookie, I'm so glad everything is going well. You must feel very blessed & I'm sure your families do too. I had heard that Victoria is much easier to adopt a child in (to the point we had clients move there for 12mths just to adopt, then move back to Qld). Don't take that the wrong way, I know the adoption process is not easy at all, it just seemed there were a few more flexible rules down there.

Well hope everyone is having a brilliant weekend. We had a bobcat in today & DH lay 80m2 of turf, so he is a bit buggered tonight, poor thing. Alyssa got out & played in the new grass & mess after it was all done. What a grub!! It was straight in the bath after that one. Take care xo

Yules - the story is pretty simple, young parents made the decision to adopt. She was with her fostermum from 2 days old. (I am not willing to give any more info on a public internet forum, I have to respect the privacy of our birthmum & my daughter). The whole process just takes along time in Australia!

Sunshine - DD has just moved past the getting the leg stuck in the last couple of days. She has moved a little bit but I expect her to take off in the next couple of days. I have been putting a few rollings toys out but her biggest incentive is she wants to crawl around after our kitten!

Peta - I dont know if easy is a word I would use when it comes to adoption in this country! :) The whole process is looooong & hard going. We were very lucky to have only been in the approved & waiting list for 7 months before we are chosen. I know of people who have been on it for years and nothing. I dont really know much about the process in other states but it is a fairly strict process in Vic, not really any felxiability. There are approx 12 babies per year put up for adoption, DH & I definatly one of the very lucky chosen few :)

Firstly I apologise Chookie, it seems that I have come across the wrong way. I certainly know first hand that the adoption process is not easy & after spending 2 years on applications and interviews we were still not "approved" as the interviewer had misconstued things beyond belief. I found tha whole process to be extremely invasive to the point that we often say that if all parents went through it there would be hardly any parents in the world. I am sorry that you took my comments the wrong way, they were based on what we had been told during our ride (even by the Qld adoption office).

All good Peta :) The states all run their process slightly different, actually you will find things from Social Worker to Social Worker will be run slightly different. You may have a real bumpy ride with one and a smoother ride with another.

Hey everyone!!

What's happening out there? Its been very quiet on here, I'm missing your news'. How are everyone's LOs doing? Alyssa is still giving me hell each day when i leave her at daycare, but today one of the ladies called to specially tell me that not 2 minutes after i left she had sat down & was playing with the other kids. Little bugger! Playing up for me already. She sure knows mummy is a sucker.

No other news here really. I'm slowly adjusting to the whole part-time work thing, although I was ready to throw it all in earlier this week with all the tears at drop off. I know it will take time & hopefully one day Alyssa will be very happy to see all her friends & run off.

I haven't posted because I don't think I've slept in about 2.5 weeks and I think I'm the walking dead, lol :rofl:
Carmelo has cut 3 teeth in 2 weeks, this 3rd one is killing him, poor little man :( Add the heat on top of that, and we're back to early mornings driving Luke to school... I'm tiiiirrrrrreeeedddd!!!!

Other than that, we're still commando crawling - almost doing it properly - he does one movement with the knees & arms, realises it's quicker to roll back, front, back, front... and he gets to where he needs to get... lazy man ;)

Lots of words coming out now too - and he has a noise he makes everytime the dog barks :lol:

We've just hit the blowing raspberries phase when eating, as well.... it's doing my head in! SOOOO frustrating! I keep saying no, but honestly, how do you teach a 9 month old baby table manners, lol.... I know he'll grow out of it, it's just painful :lol:

Miss S cut her first tooth last Sat night and has hard such a hard time this week - I think there might be a bit of a virus too maybe????? In the last week I think have changed maybe 4 nappies that have just been wet - every single other nappy change had been a pooey nappy, they appear to be really acidic because she as burnt her bottom and has nappy rash to the point the skin in now blistered/broken. Shes dribbling everywhere, temps of around 38, red cheeks, pulling her ears and very little food/drink. I hope that it passes soon for her poor bubba.

She is pulling herself up to everything and running a muck in her walker around the house. Miss J gets cranky often because Miss S has run her over (ah pay backs...LOL)

We went to Tresillian for the sleep issues and I found it to be a horrible experience and not much help at all. I had a really judgemental nurse who picked my parenting to pieces and tried to tell me Miss S isn't teething because she didn't see her dribbling... UMMMM.. HELLO!!!!

Do our LOs have any fav foods yet? Miss S is LOVING frozen rockmelon atm and kiwi fruit....

Scary - I went through Miss J's waredrobe the other days getting rid of size 1 and some 2's and had to move then straight into Miss S's waredrobe cause shes (in my DH's words) Ninga Big! LOL Shes a bit of a chubba bubba.. very cute, and still has her red hair :)
We had her in the pool the other day and she LOVES it! Loves splashing everyone and playing with the toys... Miss J has her first lesson tomorrow. Hopefully this one will go better cause it hasn't been successful in the past.

Sunshine, you reminded me about the swimming!
Carmelo started on Wednesday... he was great :D A little younger than the other babies (prob by about 3 months) - but he kept up and did everything properly... and the only one who didn't cry when his face went under water :D Proud Mummy here!

Hoping Miss J enjoys her swimming this week :hug:

ETA - Melo has just woken and after settling him, I think I see tooth #4... argh! A few days in between teeth to catch up on sleep would be helpful :p

Peta, in no way did you offend me! :hug: I've been so caught up in my own little world lately I haven't had time to do much posting!

Logan is now clapping hands, saying mumumum, commando crawling, up on hands and knees rocking back and forth and has 2 teeth! Not your regular old teeth, but the back two teeth down the bottom!!! Go figure!?!?!!? No wonder he was waking up through the night for 'bonus boobs' for a few days in a row! :lol:

Other than those new things, Logan is still rolling around the floor like a crazy baby and getting into EVERYTHING!!! He pulls and pushes the fan back and forth until it almost tips on him, does the same with our dining chairs, loves to chew on the speaker wires, rolls to the front door and bangs on it (I'm terrified it won't be latched properly one day and he'll roll down the street!), pulls open the drawers on the coffee table until they're almost all the way out and fallen onto his head! We put gates up to keep him in the one area but all he did was roll over to them, grab the bottom bars and pull and push until he loosened them!!!!! AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!! :wall: I have a friend coming over with a playpen on Wed for me, fingers crossed this keeps him out of trouble for a bit! If I don't have a shower before dh leaves for work I just don't get one for the day!

At the moment I'm getting my big kid ready to start pre-primary 5 days a week. We have staggered starts here in WA and he starts on Monday, goes 2 days with half the class, then the next week has another 2 days with half the class, then 3 with the full class then it's full time with the whole class after that.... are you confused yet??? Good, coz I am too! :lol:

I'm back at work in 2 weeks.... Poo!!!!! :doh: Fingers crossed for that illusive lotto win!

Better go, got to get dinner ready and pack up the loungeroom so we can see the floor again!

Have been stalking but not posting loads lately, because I've been working 14 hour days, and helping to plan multiple weddings, bridal showers, kitchen teas and hen's nights (and taking care of an 8 month old, decide whether to sue a hospital, process my counselling, get back in to sex, and a billion other things). :angry:

But I've re-read your post, in case I was simply too busy to be offended, and can confirm that no, definately not offended.

it's so funny how out bubbas are all at such different stages!!

Joshie is crawling a fair bit, and so we have him in a play pen for most of his play time. we just sometimes get in there with him, and let him crawl on and cuddle us, too!

He puts everything in his mouth.

He eats all sorts of different things ... avacado, meat, mashed potato, vegimite on bread, cruskits, fruit and cooked tomato are probably his favourite things. But boobie juice still wins gold!

no teeth - for which my nipples are glad ... but he (for months now) has favoured chewing things with his back molars, so I wonder whether they will be the first to appear anyway ... time will tell!!

and he's not a fan of sitting. he almost never pulls himself into a sitting position, and when there, he won't stay there for more than a few seconds, then he's off and away again ... he'll crawl and then recline, and then crawl and roll and recline, etc ....

lots of babbling, but nothing we'd call words just yet. all the "mamama" and "bababa" he does aren't really connected to any meaning yet, I don't think ... there's loads of time, though :D

Nutter Congrats on your RAK :) Can't wait to see your avi! You put in your request yet? what have you decided RE: Traumatic Birth/suing hospital stuff? Do you think it's worth it? Do you think it will change anything? If I was you (and I'm not :)) I don't know if I'd bother....14 hour days, child wrangling, feeding, general life would be enough for me. Unless I knew that some good was going to come of it...ya know?

DB You've lost your avi :( L sure has gone nutso on the development front! He sure is a super roller! I've seen it! How funny he got back teeth first, and you barely noticed. L sure is one cruisy kid!

Holly You poor thing with no sleep...but congrats the teeth are finally there! D is teething at the moment too, but she's doing OK with it I think. She is sleeping in bed with me so I just roll over and shove my BB in her gob to keep her (and myself) asleep....it does the job in this house! Fingers crossed things get a bit better soon and you can have some zzzzzzz catch up!

Sunshine HI! I saw your thread about tresillian. What a bummer. Just keep going with the flow. Yourkids sound happy and that's the main thing.

AFM I'm TRYING to get D into some sort of routine, although it's a bit hard when we haven't moved into our place yet. She's been waking on the dot of 7 (thanks for the sun for staying down!) so trying to keep her up for a 10am nap. I tried to get her down for a nap this arvo at around 3pm, but this place is so small that any sound Max makes wakes her up again. It's a tough gig! She probably slept for all of 10 mins this arvo! She will crash at 7pm again that's for certain!

She's been really good. Definitely teething ATM....can see the two bottom ones and top ones coming down. She rubs her tongue on her gums like Max did so it's a dead give away! Still no crawling, but is spending loads more tiime on the floor so can spin around, get onto her tummy from sitting (not the other way around) and tries to pull herself up. She gets around somehow! No real moving backwards or forwards but she's always in a different spot whenever I look up!

She is doing lots of waving at Daddy, gives me cuddles and kisses when I ask for them (SUPER CUTE), dances to music, and shakes her head for 'no, no no'....(but it's more like her whole body than her head!) She's becoming a real character...and a MEGGA flirt with the boys. Max is still her favourite person by far, and he's been wonderful with her lately....a pleasure!

Holly - Sounds like our little men are pretty similar when it comes to the rolling! :) And the raspberries! I swear Logan saves them up for when he has a mouthfull of either yoghurt or porridge!!!! Some days I think I'm the one who needs to wear the bib if I'm sitting near him!!! :lol:

Peanutter - Tough decision re the hospital hun! I get what Yules is saying, but then again if you don't do it will it ever be fully resolved for you? Can't wait to see your avi as well! I've got muppet like creatures dressed as peanuts dancing in my head! :)

Sunshine - hang in there hun! Sounds like you had a rough trot at Tresillian. You've got 2 beautiful little girls who adore their mummy, you're doing a great job.

Yules - I've been following your blog! It's so nice to hear you so happy!!!!!! Although I'm still bummed it'll be a few years before you end up back in Perth again! Very glad to hear Max and Darcie are getting along now! Yup, avi is gone, maybe tax time I'll get another. Silly thing ran out!

Hi to everyone else!!!!!

Food - Logan eats anything! I'm yet to find a food the kid will spit out! Last week he came out to lunch and was chowing down on chilli chicken cashew stirfry at our local Hans! The MCHN was mortified when I told her! hahaha! I did avoid the big pieces of cashews but I'm sure some little bits made it in there and really, the chilli isn't spicy at all!!!!

Sleep - We pretty much only get 1 sleep a day from our little man. He wakes up around 7:30am, awake all morning until around 11:30am, sleep for 1-2hrs, then up again and not back to bed until about 6:45pm. If we're in the car in the late afternoon he'll have a 10min catnap but that's pretty much it. So we're on the go aalllllllll day! Some days it makes for a very long morning and afternoon, especially around dinner/bath time for both him and James. But the upside is when he goes to bed he's out like a light and we generally don't hear from him until the morning. Oh, the other downside to the early bedtime and sleeping in in the mornings is that hubby sometimes goes a day or two without seeing him :( But he more than makes up for it with playtime and cuddles when he does! :)
