da dada da!!!!! V slept from 9 till 730!!!! Oh MY GOD!!!!! I so hope this is a trend...We rugged her up big time last night and put the oil heater up a bit higher so it was nice and cozy in her room...God help our power bills though...

Oh and Kymmy my boobs were about to explode lol so happy about that!

Hope everyone has a good day, we are going food shopping because Vs god parents are FINALLY coming to meet her from Melbourne this weekend and they have never been here before so I must feed them lol...I am known for always cooking way too much so Ill try and settle it down a bit lol.

Natty: OOooohhh Good girl V!!!! I CAN'T wait til Archie sleeps through the night! Although at this stage I don't think he will til he is about 25....
Oh and YAY for your exploding bosoms!!! haha! V sounds like she is really enjoying the solids! Thats great! Some days Archie doesn't want a bar of it, so we are just taking it slowly.
Sounds like your neighbors are keepers, mine are great too. They are a 40 year old couple with no kids (never wanted any, they have 3 Kelpies instead!) and they are TOTALLY in love with Brit! Brit goes riding with Lisa and when Lisa fell off and broke her collarbone Brit looked after her horse for her for 3 months. They have this amazing relationship... Lisa told me one day that she can't believe that Brit is only ten and that she actually feels like Brit is one of her best friends!! haha!! It's so good to have great neighbors!
Oh Archie is a shrieker too! He SQUEALS!! It is sooo funny! He is the same too, he adores his mummy so much!! DH and Brit will come and try to give him a cuddle and he'll totally blank them and show them the back of his head! haha! Although sometimes i wish he wasn't such a mummy's boy and leave me alone for a bit! haha!
Hmmm on ebay we have... DH's motorbike, a big old style wood stove thingy, an open fireplace, a surfboard, a wakeboard, Brit's old show jacket and the bridesmaid dress i wore last year! Hopefully it all sells! DH still hasnt started working and the money would come in handy!!! My mum found a pair of jodhpurs at an op shop for $9 put them on ebay and they sold for $51 with $10 postage!! So you can make some good money with the right stuff!

Angela: I'll have to look into this wonder week business that you and Ali always speak of... I'd like an explaination for all the strange things that Archie does!! Archie tried a little bit of natural yoghurt on a spoon i loaded for him, it is amazing how accurately they get it in their mouths isn't it!? I couldn't believe it! Last night we have pizza on lebanese bread and Archie grabbed a piece of mine and shoved it straight into his mouth! It had chilli on it and all and he only got the crust end but he LOVED it! I don't get in the habit of feeding him anything with salt or sugar added but them him try pretty much everything else. It is a really fun way to do solids, i did the puree thing with Brit and i hated it, and SHE hated it too! So this is a really nice change...

Telly: WOW I feel special.. TWO hellos!!!!
Yay for your kiddies!! I always make stupid comments about how 'advanced' Archie is... like, because he can speak French and all... But it is nice when they are actually doing stuff earlier than their peers!! Hahaha! People ask me if Archie is trying to crawl yet and i'm like "no... i don't want him to crawl!!" haha... good mother i am. No but seriously, he didn't really have any tummy time until about 3 months cos of his collarbone so he is not really THAT comfortable on his tummy.

Alison: As i said above, What is this wonder week thing!? Ploise explain?!
I'd say it could be a mixture of the cold and the teeth! It is so horrible when they can't breathe through their nose! Archie's nose is running like a tap today... not nice!

AFM: Feeling AVERAGE this morning.... eeerrrrggh.
Am feeling a bit down in the dumps the last few days... can't wait til DH goes back to work! (How sad is that!?) but he is so bloody annoying sometimes! The house is ten times messier when he is home and he does nothing to help me, don't get me wrong, he does HEAPS, like fixing stuff outside, working on bobcat etc but NOTHING to give me a hand! His attitude is that the housework and looking after kids is a womans job........ now we had a MASSIVE arguement about this and i threw it in his face that if he carries on with that attitude then Archie will hate him just like he hates his dad :redface: probably out of line but i think there is some truth in it!
I am just feeling so overwhelmed, i guess. Archie is so clingy, the house is a mess, i'm tired and sick AND i am going to have another baby to look after..... so yeah, down in dumps.
Didn't end up going for blood tests but moved u/s forward to today at 2pm so i'll let u know how i go!

Anyway, best be off, Archie has fallen asleep in my lap!

Ultrasound was all good. Heart beating away nicely! He couldn't find a reason for the spotting but said that a small amount of spotting is actually a good thing as it means that the sac is attaching well. Dates were spot on too. So all good!

Hi Mel, Mon, everyone else!

AFM - I love reading all your posts, you girls are so funny :D We've been so busy lately that I haven't been able to post. Got my hair cut for the first time since before I went on Mat Leave and it feels lovely. In fact, this week I've managed my first 2 hours without the boys, 1 hour for the haircut and 1 hour Boot Camp with a personal trainer. Yesterday, lucky me got to shop for new smaller clothes because both boys fell asleep (toddler in pram, baby in sling) while I was shopping which NEVER happens anymore :dance: I took 6 garbage bags of clothes out of my wardrobe the other day 'cause nothing fits me. My poor DH also has nothing fitting him, but for the reverse reason :(

Ryan is 6 months old today! He got his second tooth today, started to commando crawl in the last 2 days and started 'solids' today eating all of his rice cereal with gusto! It's not really a commando crawl, it's more of a 3-legged crawl where he's got one elbow and both knees going, probably because he's always reaching out to grab stuff with the other arm.

Hi Kymmy - I'm so pleased about your ultrasound, must make it real seeing it, congratulations, that's very exciting. Wonder Weeks.....the book I couldn't live without, I'd have slit my wrists by now if it wasn't for the book telling me everything happening is normal! It's a must have in my eyes, it's called The Wonder Weeks by Hetty Vanderijt and Frans Plooij - it tells you about the growth spurt weeks and what to expect around those times. Wonder Week 26 is my household to the t right now! Some of the signs for example of WW26 are:

Poor Sleep
Become Shier
More physical contact - always wants to be with you
Loss of Appetite
Refuse to have nappy changed
More cuddly
Listless
Less Lively
Wants to be kept busy

I was at mums group yesterday and the girls got to witness what happens when she suddenly gets tired, she just goes from happy to chucking a tanty in a second and I had to rush off. I'm having to cuddle to sleep again and she's waking half a dozen times in the night, sometimes completely awake and needing cuddling back to sleep. I shouldn't complain as I know a lot of people have this all the time but I tell you I take my hat off to anyone in that position because I'm really struggling this week, I'm so used to my routine and Amelia being a good sleeper since week 9 that I've forgotten what it's like having to deal with the interrupted sleep etc. Anyway, I guess it will pass but in the meantime how do you just "ride through it", I want to but I'm finding I'm stressing about it! I don't even want to go out at the moment in case things turn ugly, it's just easier to be at home. I can't keep cancelling appointments and visits with people over it. Also, she's been tugging at her ear when getting upset - the back arches etc etc....she has always tugged at her ear when really tired but she's completely scratched behind her ear she's been so bad, I'm wondering if that's part of the tantrum or if she has a sore ear. I'm going to keep her GP appt Monday for her vaccs, even if they won't do them because she's had a cold I'm going to take her anyway to get her checked out.

Well, she's whinging again, she's been up since 6.00 am - an hour earlier than usual so is ready for her nap now, I'd best take her to bed before hell breaks loose!

Hope everyone else is having a better time of the Wonder Week/6 month growth spurt than me lol!

Lol Alison, sounds like Vs first 5 months haha Im ordering my baby for 6 months old next time...I did cancell lots of things to keep V happy as I found if she was happy so was I and honestly I was so tired I didnt have the inclination to do much else. Try to sleep when she sleeps but soon enough you wont bother with that and you develop supersonic sleeplessness abilities :rofl: I always take my ergo baby crrier with us out in case she gets fussy I just pop her in it and cuddle her to sleep then carry on as normal...Not the ideal but at least she is not heavy lol...

Suz Yay for Ryan!!! NO sign of toofy pegs here yet...but I can definately wait lol...

Just wanted to be a real show off and say that Archie can................... WAVE!!! He just waved at his dad through the window! It's not a proper wave but we know what he means! He lifts his hand everytime we say "hi" or "bye"!! So cute!!

Nice rainy Sunday here. Am trying to clean up after having the folks over for dinner last night. Haven't seen my StepDad for a while and he commented on how good I am looking. Love my StepDad, can always rely on him to tell you that you look nice when you do. Makes you feel great because you know he's not just saying it to be nice, he actually means it. DH is away riding his dirtbike with mates and hopefully having a great time in the mud. The boys who are normally both excellent sleepers have both been waking up while he's been away. Ryan has even worked out how to kick his lullaby thingy with his feet to turn it on, totally freaked me out at 3:30am this morning!

Kymmy - Yay for Archie! How're you feeling? Any morning sickness or cravings? Tired?

Sarah - Harper sounds so much like Ryan! Raspberries, trying to crawl and almost there. Not so much clingy, more bitey with the new teeth. Dunno how you do the Mummy thing and two businesses, my hat's off to ya! Hope you are up and running soon so things are less crazy for you.

Hi Everyone else - how are we all?

AFM - it's stunning weather here in Perth today, just beautiful, the sun is shining and it's just glorious. And yep, you guessed it, after last week my mood has shifted and I am a happy chappy again! So far it looks like the wonder week has come to an end, my goodness what a horrible/hard week that was! Amelia is back to her usual self and is self settling to sleep again, not chucking tantrums, finishing her bottles etc etc. What a relief! I noticed yesterday she started to come good again and it was so funny because she started doing new things yesterday right on cue, feet in mouth, copying us with her mouth when we speak to her - she makes shapes with her lips like she's trying mimmick us ha ha. We took her swimming yesterday as I didn't go on Wednesday and she was kicking her legs in the water for the first time and squeeling with delight, it was awesome. So glad DH was there to see it. Although, grrrrrrr - he was supposed to film it but he only took pics and one pathetic 2 second film, WTFFFFFFFFFF!!!! Not happy Jan. Oh well, never mind. I went there yesterday feeling happy because I weighed myself yesterday and was down another 600 grams and another cm from my tummy but looking at the pics I look like a big fat heffar still......I'll be putting them on FB and you can see for yourself, I'm almost too ashamed to put them on really, yuk!!!!! So, this week's goal is to get stuck into some arm weights again and more exercise, I haven't done nearly as much as I should have. But, I'm halfway there, another 2.5 kgs and I'll be happy, another 3/3.5 kgs and I'll be stoked!!!!!!!!!

Well, best run, Millie's asleep so want to finish putting some washing away, mostly her clothes mind you, the girl has more than me!!!!!! The 00's are looking a little tight these days so out come the 0's I think, my little girl is growing too fast. BTW, I think I have a super tall girl here, she's longer then all the boys in my mums group, it's embarrassing! She's going to tower over me....I just hope she's not super super tall, she might have trouble finding a boyfriend ha ha. Just kidding. (this is coming from me who's 5'3") so everyone is tall to me. :o

Oh and HAPPY 6 MONTHS OLD TODAY to my baby girl, I can't believe 6 months ago she entered my life, I don't know what I did with myself before she came along, she's brightened up my world in so many ways. The only thing I miss is a Sunday sleep in ha ha!

Oh Kymmy what a smart little guy Archie is... All in one hit too, you must be soooo happy! How is little mini bub going? Oh god I had a dream last night I could feel my baby kicking....hmmmm...Freaking wierd lol. Guess what...My bbs leaked everywhere the other morning...I was laughing so hard at my panic the other day thinking I was drying up lol. Did you get an answer about the colostrum for the new bub?

Alison gosh I feel so bad when I hear about Amelia swimming I havent taken V yet as she has been sick etc but have all the details so once again I am reminded to get her booked in lol...Teeth on the way too? Hooray! I think V is going tro be gummy forever haha...Im glad tho and so are my bbs ;)

Hi Natty - you crack me up (V might be grumpy forever)....of course she won't, she's a lovely little girl with gorgeous hair and Amelia is very jealous lol. Definitely get her into swimming, I even found some wetsuit bathers to help keep them warm in the cooler months on Ebay from the UK, only cost $25 with delivery - they're $65 over here! Hi Girls - got the dreaded 6 month needles this morning, I am so nervous about it, moreso than ever before because I just know she's going to know what's going on more, I can't bear to see her drop her little bottom lip and cry because of me. Makes me sad. Oh and does anyone else get ovulation pain? I had it before I had Amelia but it seems even worse now unless I just forgot, it almost debilitates me for a day, it's almost like the very beginning of labour pain (the very beginning lol) where you feel that sharp pain and it almost feels like it's coming out of your bum, remember that?!! (or was that just me ha ha). Anyway, it's like a massively bad stitch and I can't even walk without grimacing. Might have to mention to the doctor today, although I'm seeing a bloke for her needles today so probably no point, wonder if the nurse who does the actual injection will know? hmmm. I made a comment to DH yesterday about Amelia being back to normal after her wonder week and how it made me think that I'm not sure how I'd handle a newborn and another littleon and DH said, but if you get pregnant at the end of the year by the time you have the baby Amelia will be nearly 2. I just looked at him and said, so, you're definitely keen then and he said yes of course why aren't you! It was quite sweet really. I have to admit listening to Kymmy talk about being pregnant makes me miss it and we went to the baby shop on Saturday and seeing so many girls with beautiful bellies made me really really miss mine. Gosh I'm hopeless!

Well, best run, gotta have a shower while Millie sleeps, when she wakes we have to rush straight to the doctor - gotta time these things in between naps and feeds ha ha. Oh and how many naps are your bubs having? Amelia is still on 3 naps, don't think she's quite ready to drop that 3rd nap yet although I wish she would so I could get her to bed earlier than 7.30/8.00 pm!

Ok so little miss is asleep again so a bit about us lol

This weekend Vs Nono and nona (godparents) came to stay with us from Melbourne... It was so great, they are dhs best man and his wife and they are great to have as guests..She is a good help, not just a lump, and they both made a real effort with V even though they dont have kids themselves yet. It was nice to see V happy on other ppls laps too and she behaved herself so well I couldnt have asked for better considering the upset to her little world as she knows it. We had a couple who are our best mans cousins come over for dinner on Sat and when V has a bit of a dreamfeed she woke up and wouldnt sleep for 2 hrs because she knew other ppl were here. She was cying everytime the man with glasses even looked at her..Hillarious!!! so I had to take her for a spin in the car to zonk her out lol...1st time Ive done it but I just wanted to relax and she was not going to sleep. Other than that she was perfecto! They bought her a STACK of pumpkin patch clothes in size 6 to 12 months and they are MASSIVE lol...I cant see her in them for a few months yet haha.

I have made a whole heap of new food, you should se my freezer! Packed with ziplock bags of every vege and different meats and a pasta...Im going to do an avgolemono soup just for her too but there is so much choice to mix and match with.. Im findidng it hard to get her to eat fruit...Veges are no problem but she seems to absolutely hate anything with apple in it and only likes banana but Im scared it will clog her bowels up.. Also when can you introduce cheese? I suppose I could google it. Ive tried baby yoghurt and she is not a fan yet.

Oh and she isnt crawling yet, no teeth, but still trying to stand up on things, saying mamamama but she says it for her dummy, food, me..pretty much anything...Last night I got a sleepthrough!! So it looks like I get random ones but then other nights Im up like 5 times haha...keeping me on my toes...

Hey all had drinks on sat night for me and J anni and let's just say after a long headache and 3 hrs sleep followed by a few vomits I am never drinking again was a great night only my bff came but we had loads of fun....serenity can now sit by herself if you sit her up and put one knee forward when rocking on all fours last night :( 8 months in 2 days don't they grow too fast!!!!!

Mon, Yay for Serenity, she is looking so pretty and I love that photo of all your kiddies. Dont know if I could risk a hangover quite yet lol but its great you got a night off ;) Good to hear from you...

Went to mg today and had to introduce ppl and did not know names, got them wrong etc lol how embarrassing! I did get lumped with fundraising choccies though damnit!

Natty - I'll tell you this t make you feel much better about forgetting the names at MG. Second or third week of MG with DS1, he was about 16 weeks, we went round the circle saying our name & baby's name, got to me and I said "I'm Ange and this is my son ....." I couldn't remember his name for about 5 seconds (that felt like 5 mins) and I named him, DH & I had been refering to him as Lucas from when I was 20 weeks pg. :rofl: :redface:

I gave Mr I yoghurt today - loaded a spoon up and passed it to him. It was plain Greek yoghurt. He puts the spoon in his mouth & winces, then does it again. I load up the spoon again and he repeats the performance 2 or 3 more times.:rofl: Dunno that he's gonna be as big a fan of plain yoghurt as his brother - he still just eats plain, doesn't like sweetened, flavoured yoghurt.

I've now got to remember to take food when we go out - I took a banana with me to the shops today & he ate/mashed it all over his face & clothes while I had my coffee & cannoli - bliss! I was going to say don't worry too much about then clogging V up natty, but I remembered we haven't had a dirty nappy for a day & a half and he had some yesterday too so I'll hold that comment back.
The porcupine meatballs were not a great sucess - I didn't follow the instructions and ended up with meat mush - tastes OK, but not great. DS1 says I don't like meatballs, but last night we had mince and rice (renamed for his benefit) and he ate it.

I love taylor he reminds me of Jose lol same skin colour etc

Angela: I give Archie plain yoghurt too and he is the same... he gets this horrified look on his face and shakes his head but then grabs the spoon and shoves more in! I feel terrible, cos it tastes soooo gross, but i guess if he didn't like it he wouldn't eat it!!

Hi Girls - I gave Amelia some of the Rafferty's baby porridge and it has banana in it apparently, she was constipated yesterday so not sure if it was the banana, bit hesitant to try it again now! lol I have a book that says pear and sweet potato is nice, has anyone tried that, sounds weird to me! Also, has anyone tried avocado, I hate avocado but thought I'd try Amelia on it this week. I've only been giving her pumpkin and sweet potato, thought I should try something else now.

have had a shocker few days with harper, fever and super clingy. i feel i held her all day except to go pee yesterday, and last night was terrible.

I actually like plain yoghurt now - started when DS1 was this age & I'd finish his off. Avocado, I've given to Mr I & he's liked it, I've got 5 on the bench atm but they're not ripening. Warning though avo & banna stain if you don't rinse clothes straight away.

snowy - put avocado in a fruit bowl with your bananas and they'll ripen more quickly
natty - af far as i know cheese can be given from 6 months plus
Ali - Theo loves sweet potato and apple, have a taste, its actually really yum!

Hi Madame - I feel your pain, I was there last week. Hope Harper is better soon, is she teething? That might explain the temp...Amelia didn't get a temp with her cold but the wonder week also hit last week so I think a lot of the clingyness and lack of sleep and constant crying was more due to that. I struggled last week, by the end of the week I was at the end of my tether, thank goodness she went back to normal Saturday, 5 days of that was enough for me! Mind you, she's still fussing a couple of times a night crying in her sleep, she's not even awake so don't know what to do. I tried ignoring it last night but it got louder and I was worried she'd wake herself up. I can't keep going in to plug in the dummy, that's going to become a habit, any suggestions would be welcome!

Hi Snowy and Telly - thanks for the tips on avocado. I think I will try pear and pumpkin then and see what happens. Shall I give the avo straight or mixed with pumpkin? Also, when should I go to 3 meals a day? At the mo she's having breakie and lunch. Do I wait until she drops her 3rd nap as I am wondering how I'd fit dinner in. My friend does solids at 5.00 pm and milk at 6.30 pm and straight to bed but her daughter who's a month older than Amelia has dropped that 3rd nap, Amelia is still going down around 4.30 pm/5.00 pm for an hour. I tried keeping her awake last week and it backfired on me, mind you, she was in a wonder week! Perhaps I should try again.

Im back in the land of the living…..well sort of!!!

Ali – Abbey is still having 3 or 4 sleeps a day….all depends on how she goes with her midday sleep. If she can stay down for a couple of hours then she only needs one more sleep at about 4 or 4:30 to get her through but if she only has a nap at lunchtime then she’ll go down for 2 more sleeps….really wish she’d have the 3 all the time cause 4 really stuffs up the night time routine but sometimes she just wont sleep all that long during the day…..really frustrating!!!

Telly – You pervert you!!! I forget that I’m 30 now and still have a perv on the young ones sometime and day dream about my life back when I was 20…..no responsibility, just party party party….those were the days!!!

Snowy – I’m having trouble with stains all the time on Abbey’s clothes….she just had some pea, carrots and corn the other night and got some on her white top and for the life of me I cant get the stains out….does anyone know a good way to get them out?? I’ll have to strip her off naked she makes such a mess sometimes!

Madame – Sorry to hear about Harper….hope she gets better really soon. Abbey has been clingy since about Sunday and it’s driving me bonkers too…only happy on the hip…if she’s left on the floor or in her bumbo she cracks it…..LOVE having SATC on in the middle of the night….revives me a little bit if I’m up!!!

Heavenly – Happy Anniversary to you and Jose!! Hangovers are terrible now….I’ve only had a couple since I’ve had Abbey and it’s a nightmare!! So not worth it now! Still haven’t seen the second Twighlight movie yet…better get cracking on that….

Natty – Ha ha!!! I had been going to my MG for about a year and I couldn’t remember one of the girls names for the life of me and no one mentioned it any of the times I was there during conversation so one day I asked her if she was on FB and she said yes so I asked her her last name and went home to look her up but luckily she found me first and that’s how I ended up knowing it!!! I felt terrible….she’s a really nice girl and we are quite good friends now!!! He he he!

Hi to everyone else I have missed!!!!

AFM – Well, I feel like there is so much to talk about but I’ll try and keep it short!!!

Solids – Have been trying Abbey on a couple of things, mainly home cooked but some of the Rafferty pouches too…..sometimes she is into it and others she is not and she rubs her hands all over her face, through her eyes and all through her hair….drives me bonkers if it’s the middle of the day and we have to go somewhere cause I nearly have to giver her a full wash down with the mess she gets herself into!!!

Have had a few chocking incidents….mainly with the stuff that I have prepared so I don’t know if I have maybe done it too thick or something?? She also does funny things with her mouth, like she doesn’t really swallow straight away so when I put the next spoonful in I think the mouthful from before is still in there and then she gags cause there is too much in there?? Does that make sense???

I panic when she starts to go red….one day it was with the toast so I whipped her out of her highchair and threw her nearly upside down and slapped her on the back and then she threw up all her milk etc and it went everywhere….do I need to panic or will she get through it?? Snowy, you said you gave Mr I a banana, but I’d be too panicky to give her that in case she chokes…..or would she be alright??

I have been mixing up a little bit of that Laughing Cow cheese (that comes in a wheel with 8 little portions in it) in with Abbey’s veggies to give her a bit of protein etc….do you think this is OK?? She loves her yoghurt – plain or I might put a bit of fruit with it and opens her mouth no worries for that, but veggies are a different story…..

She’s sitting up pretty well on her own – no crawling or talking yet though. She now puts her arms out to you if I or whoever is going to take her put their arms out to her….I remember when JD first did that….it’s very cute!! She’s also a real little stickybeak!! If there’s anything that’s going on that she doesn’t want to miss she nearly breaks her neck trying to have a squiz!! Go go gadget neck!!! PMSL!

Has anyone turned their bubs around in their car seat yet? I saw the video that Mel linked and I can see the reasons why you would leave them rear facing, but just wondering what to do….

My Aunty that stayed with us last weekend has a really bad flu so is going back to the Dr tomorrow….god help me it had better not be swine flu and that’s why Abbey’s is my Siamese twin….

I cant see any white in her mouth so I don’t know if it would be teeth….would have to be wouldn’t you think??? She rips at her right ear and makes it bright red…..more so at early afternoon and night time. I don’t think she has an ear infection as she lets me touch it and prod around in it and last time if I did that she’d roar her head off so do you think it’s teeth?

Sleeping is still cra*py. Don’t think that will every change!!!

Sorry for the essay again – probably wont get to post again for another week at the rate I seem to be going…..but I’m always reading so help me out with my questions!!!! You’d think already doing this before with JD that I would know what to do!!! I swear I’m losing my mind sometimes…only lost my wallet last Mon from leaving it on the car roof when I was on my way to Playgroup. Cancelled my cards cause couldn’t find it after I retraced my drive about 100 times, then the police had it that afternoon. So then I went to Coles a couple of days later, used my cancelled card and couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work…..god I’m really losing it I think.

Shayna: I am doing BLS (no purees, just 'fingers' of food) and i was TERRIFIED (before i started) that Archie would choke, then i read the 'Baby Led Weaning' book by whatsisname and whositsface and it said that it is actually very rare for a baby to 'choke'... what many people believe is their child 'choking' is actually just their gag reflex stopping them from choking. They will be silent if they are really choking. You shouldn't pat them on the back either as this will distract them from dislodging the food themselves. Puree from a spoon actually gets pushed past a baby's gag reflex (which is more towards the front of the mouth but moves back as they get older) which makes them more likely to choke when lumpy foods are introduced. This is why i have chosen to do BLS, that and that i am lazy and cant be bothered having a whole other menu for Archie, he just has what we have. You can still give soft foods (like yoghurt, for example) but they say that if you let the baby have control of putting it in their own mouth they will be less likely to choke and have more feeling of them being in control about what they choose to eat which has lots of benefits in the long run. Geeezzz BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! haha! That was exactly what you wanted wasn't it?! A bloody essay! Oh but one more thing, solids is mainly about play until 12 months, as milk is wayyyy more nutricious than a bit of pumpkin or carrot, so let her 'play' with say, banana, and you'll find that she may get a little in her mouth and down her throat but most of it she will learn to spit out... another positive to not choking!! There, i'm done! haha! With the car seat thing, i will absolutely NOT be turning Archie around until he is at least 18..... well, not quite but i will be leaving him as long as possible!! Enough from me. PS Your little hairy cherub is just sooooo divine!!!

Ali: Glad to hear Amelia is back to herself after your crappy week last week. I'm hoping Archie will be better now his second tooth has pushed through :crossfingers:

Telly: How are you gorgeous? Saw your latest pics and, seriously, you are gorgeous! far out!! Hot mumma! hahaha! I am feeling OK.... feeling pretty seedy most of the time, it is really strange though, nothing like either of my other pregnancies, this time it seems to be after i eat, not before like last time. I have discovered that i have to have something sweet after every savoury and that seems to help so maybe it is my blood sugar? Dunno but it's a good excuse... i've had about 65 chocolate bars in the last two days! (slight exaggeration....)

Angela: Plain yoghurt tastes like vomit..... hahahaha :sick: also, anytime i've tried anything with mince in the slow cooker it has come out GROSS!! it's like the tiny bits of mince crumble down to nothing and it has such a horrible texture errrrrrrrr.... i really do feel sick now.

Re the colostrum, everywhere i have read says that your body will produce enough for the new bub and your body knows what to do etc etc.... to be honest i don't think i want be feeding Archie after 12 months anyway, for starters i'm exhausted as it is, secondly, he has started BITING (God, give the kid teeth and he is already taking the p*ss three days in!!) and thirdly, can you IMAGINE having the time to sit there and feed a newborn AND a one year old???? Yep actually i think i just made up my mind!! hahaha! Obviously BFing is very important to me now but if it going to start affecting my life negatively then i will give up, i think 12 months is a good age.

Those who are BFing and who's bubs have got teeth..... OMG.... i don't know if it's just me, as my nipples are sore from being pregnant anyway but i am finding it REALLY uncomfortable to feed! Archie's lil teeth are soooo sharp and i feel like he clamps down on my poor nipples the whole time he feeds! And when he gets distracted he clamps down and THEN pulls away to look behind him! FRIGGEN OUCHHHHHHH!!!! I actually slapped him yesterday :redface: didn't mean to, it was just a reflex but he bit hard and it KILLED! I don't know what to do, bottles are looking better and better every day! haha!

I have a biter too - if I watched him to see if he's getting distracted I'd be able to take him off before he does it. I imagine its 100 times worse with pg nipples. I fed DS1 till he was almost 2 1/2 so I know it gets better, I think its just as they (& we) adjust to having teeth.

Hi everyone, just a quick one whilst the tribe is having breakfast.

As for the questions regarding food and for what is ok to give, we give Eden everything we are eating, bar peanuts of course (even DS doesn't get peanuts yet - he's had cashews though). So at the moment she is having vegemite on toast for breakfast. She has yoghurt during the day, I load up the spoon and give it to her, she is an ace shot at getting it in her mouth. None of the others have been that good!! One of her favourites is cream cheese on crispbread - she LOVES it. So she has that maybe every second day? She's not a huge fan of banana, but I give her half a banana every few days. She usually just drools all over it and spits it out.. LOL... and she'll have sandwiches for lunch as well as a stick of cheese, same as the other kids - I just make up her food as well when I make theirs. I figure if I'm already making 2 sangas, whats another one? But she hasn't had apple yet - thats the only fruit I haven't given her. She has a biscuit for arvo tea like the other two (plus she's usually grizzly around that time) and then for dinner she has what we are having (unless its something that the other two don't eat either). So last night she had tuna pasta bake, gagged on some pasta, but was all good - she doesn't choke on anything, just gag and up it comes. The night before she had sausages and vegies - she's so funny chewing the food up with no teeth, we have a little giggle at her most times.. haha (mean parents). So I hope that helps anyone deciding what to give their kids? She just eats what we do.

She's currently also having about 3 naps a day, usually a morning one, midday one and late arvo one. She usually wakes up around 5/5.30pm, then has dinner with us, then bath, bottle and bed. Usually in bed by 7pm.

She's been waking up for bottles in the middle of the night again - hasn't done this in AGES - but its usually 4am that she wakes for it. The other night it was 1.30am. So I suggested to DH this morning that we try giving her a dream feed before we go to bed, if she doesn't take it thats fine, we'll continue getting up whenever she needs a bottle, but it worked for the other two so may as well try it here. Although it didn't work very well with DD1, she would wake up fully for the feed, and then not go down for another couple of hours - but she has always been our problem sleeper (still is). She's the reason why we have nights where we only get to sleep for an hour and a half or 2 at the most.

Gawd in between writing this I've been telling DS off - so funny to yell and then come back and try to concentrate on what I was babbling on about. Grrrr to DS.

Better go, need to get changed for the day, hang out nappies, put another load of washing on, clean up kitchen - and play with the kids!!!!!! I'm trying to get on here early in the mornings when the kids are occupied with food, or late at night when they are in bed. Since I go to the gym most nights it doesn't leave a lot of time to do that though.

Oh - almost forgot, Eden isn't crawling yet, or have any teeth. She can sit up for a little bit on her own but slides to the side most of the time. The others didn't sit or get teeth until 7 months, so I'm not expecting anything from her until then :)

Hi Kymmy - out of the girls at mums group who are still BF'ing most are down to one BF a day purely due to the pain in being bitten. One's bub has 4 teeth and is actually drawing blood. I'm kinda glad I'm FF'ing to be honest lol! OUCHHHHH!

Hi Mel - I was told yesterday that the longer their teeth take to come out the stronger they will be. I'm hoping Amelia's take a while then because I have terrible teeth, they might be straight but they're soft and full of fillings so I don't want her to have my pegs. DH has 1 filling, grrrrrr!

Oh and had a debate with the inlaws yet again last night. They really really full on lectured me about taking Amelia swimming in the indoor pool. Apparently the chemicals are bad for babies under 2, they really made me feel crap last night. We came home and DH did some research and it's looking like they might be right. DH wants me to stop taking her after our block of already paid for lessons have finished at the end of this month. I told him he'll have to build me a pool then at the other house, if we have to move that's the deal! She loves swimming and I love taking her. Anyone else heard anything? Apparently some research has been done in Europe and those exposed to breathing in chlorine chemicals at indoor pools have a higher risk of asthma and also respiratory problems - once they hit 2 their lungs are formed enough not to be so affected. As you can see by my FB I've had quite a response and it's all for swimming. I'm not sure I can argue with DH, especially if he has her health in his best interests but I'm still torn. DH's niece did swimming as a baby and has had non stop chest infections, asthma, colds - I personally think a lot of it has to do with the fact she was shoved in daycare from a very early age and also her mum has asthma. I was livid last night, I felt ganged up on and DH just sat there and didn't say a word - men and their parents honestly!!!!!

kaili was a biter too. i agree w snowy - it def settles down. im still bfing theo, noplans on stopping when the teeth start coming through but we'll see when it actually happens.

kaili has out of no where started to DRAW PICTURES! im soo excited! No more scribbles, she is really starting to draw things, elephants, spiders, self portraits, oh i just love it!! I find im taking photos of them all, and my head is swelling with pride, haha! none of the kids of MG are doing this yet! woop!! Had a huge fight with her this morning. Every morning she refuses to wear leggins because she wants to wear a 'dancing skirt/dress', this morning I didn't let her get her own way. holy cow!!! what a tanny@!!!! Needless to say we ending up giving story time at the library a miss. argh, girls!! Ladies please tell me boys are different and dont care what you dress them in!

Wooooop on Archie starting to wave!!!!!! Theo has started to clap his hands!! Well not really 'clap', he puts them together as he watches us do it, no noise just yet. still very proud tho. he is now crawling very easily, everything is straight in the mouth. If i dont sweep up 100 times a day he always finds biscuits and crap under the kitchen table to munch on :rolleyes: Took a while for him to master crawling while wearing long pants (his knees would slide on the polished floors), but he's good now, and even gets a bit of a speed up!

jds mum cheese is fine. im doing a bit of whatever we're eating i'll let theo have a taste. and im never concerned with the choaking gagging thingo. i leave him be and he sorts himself out. my mum freaks tho - irritates me.

Ali - i just give theo avocado plain, mashed up. boo to your inlaws. how irritating about your dh keeping his mouth shut!! What is it with inlaws?! Have you guys decided to move to their old place?? save living next door to them too!! buggar thatfor a joke! lol

But he spent his life with his neck strained trying to sit up, ifywim. and then when id talk he'd just about break his back trying to see me. So annyway, DH had enough, said it was cruel, lol. He turned him aroud, and i didn't really protest. ive seen that clip too. Just my decision and i'm happy with it. We could have turned him around at 4 months, as he was 8.2 kg then. some people dont even wait until their 8 kg. everyone to their own. I love bb, but some times its a classic for making you feel like youre not doing things right, and youre a bad mum. Please dont take offence anyone. example - bfing, solids too young, smacking a bum, circumcision, natural birth vs epidural/drugs... do things YOUR way. youre a great mum, and you know whats best.
