aww you are more than welcome!
Am glad you and hubby talked and got it sorted! Smart man for agreeing that you know what's best for Lilly! Well done hubby!! that's what we like to see ;)
Sometimes Zoe will just pass out in my arms, other times she kind of cat naps, either way I put her in the swing and she will usually nine times out of 10 go off to sleep or stay asleep :)
It really is a *play it by ear* kinda thing!
I am sooo not into the controlled crying crap (waits to be pounced on). I had babies cause I wanted babies, there is no way in hell that I am going to let them cry their lil hearts out just so I can get some sleep!
Even to this day, if Harriett cries in her sleep I will go in or Hubby will, to check on her and rub her back till she goes back to sleep. They cry out for a reason, even at 4 years of age. As parents I personally think tis our job to go and check on them!
Meh, maybe I am just an over protective mumma! but it suits me and our family for me to be one hehehe
If my mum, or aunt (don't have a mum in law) EVER told me I was doing something wrong with my parenting, well, lets just say it would be ON! like Donkey Kong!
Parent the way your instincts tell you too (repeating myself I know!)
again... Yay for yr Hubby!

I'm with Nikky on this one - go with whatever works. They're still so little and the world is an overwhelming place sometimes, if she sleeps better being cuddled to sleep and you're happy doing it, where's the problem? Self settling is all well and good if your baby likes to go to sleep that way - I think so much of it depends on their personality. And even the cruisiest of bubs have nights where they want more comfort and cuddles. No one size fits all approach will ever work 100%, our babies are little individuals already - use advice that feels right and don't worry about everyone else's opinion. You're both doing a wonderful job :)
Most of the time Alex is either fed to sleep or cuddled to sleep. Only very occasionally will he go down still awake and fall asleep after a bit of chattering to himself. He also has his particular little routines and preferences - he's hard to get to settle at night unless he's either had his shower or a bath. Sometimes he'll be crying, hear the shower start and he'll stop crying but start up again as soon the shower is turned off to get out. Last night he woke fussing in his cradle, I got him up thinking he was hungry, got out to the lounge ready to feed him and he fell back to sleep on my chest - he just wanted a cuddle.

Thanks so much CK, I really believe my confidence was undermined to the point where I was second guessing myself all the time. I am happy to do it, I enjoy doing it I had babies becuase I want to be around them.
My Aunty told me yesturday she was manipulating me becuase she was crying in her cot during sleep time.. seriously? I said sorry I prefer gentle parenting methods for now. Sheesh. I don't hold anything against my parents they way we were parented but I dont want that for my children. Tough love is not always the answer imo, especially not with ones so young they cant understand.
That nap was so much easier she yawned after her feed so I took her upstairs and put her music on she loves, and she wanted to suck so gave her dummy and read a quiet story to her, and after about 3 mins she was asleep, popped her in cot and shes still there now. I'll go back up and remove dummy once shes fully asleep and its popped out.
:grouphug: I'm never doing something I dont think is right again. The scary one to stand up to is my mum, but I'll get there becuase she will take it as an insult to how she raised me.
