We have had a much better day today. I think it was just all the upheaval of being born, paed checks, coming home, getting dressed etc. Shes all wrapped up snoozing on my bed now. I'm about to go join her.
Cassius, she was 4228g. It's all stored in her thighs. Like her mama.

We just had our 2 week check today! it was a little bit :) with a little bit of this :( as i had to say goodbye to one of my beautiful midwives. always always the hardest part of this whole caper. i love them to bits and only get to see them at the picnics that happen twice a year.
The great news is that little poppet has STACKED on the weight :dance: she is up 590gms from birthweight! :dance: little chubba! so over the moon that all that feeding is doing its job.
Audax: haha, DD2 was a thigh baby lol. i had to remember after her baths to wipe in the folds on her legs lol. Both DD1 and DD3 have chicken legs..but DD3 seems to store her chubs in her chin :D serious double chin action in this house.
RCC: hope you have had a better night with bubs. We had an alright one last night. she slept well enough until about 3am, then decided it was poop o'clock and that rocked the boat for a couple of hours. not crying, but unsettled. thankfully she is snoozing on and off in the moses basket today which frees me up a bit to just flake out on the couch eating tim tams.
Hi ladies, much better night and day for us. Little Miss is having her unsettled time now, so hoping she will be more settled tonight.
Funny about the double chin - Miss K has a good one but has chicken legs - haha!
Midwife came today. Heel pr!ck test took aaaaages as our little wonder is clearly dosed up on clotting factor. She has lost 230g. Otherwise, we just had a big debrief, which was really good.
I'm sitting in the dark eating chocolate (two squares only!) and feeding. Managed to bath both kids by myself tonight, it was a bit of an experiment, just to see how I'd go, and it wasn't too bad!
Cassius - wow on the weight gain, awesome, mumma has some good milk, lol on the double chin, e-bub (as dad has nicknamed her) is carrying it all in her cheeks, nothing else on her.
Rhichichi - hope you and miss k had a better night xxx
Audax - Fantastic work on bathing two, it can only get easier from now.
We had another unsettled day yesterday but 2 from 14 is not bad. Had 2 week check yesterday and she's growing in all areas which i am happy with, quieter girls day today both boys are at care, so just relaxing putting my feet up

Hi all, how is everyone going? Got Miss K weighed yesterday and she has managed to gain 270g in a week.... Definitely no milk supply issues here. She was a little unsettled the night and day before today but I think it was something I ate plus some snack drinking by Miss K because last night she only woke at 12 and 3.30 so I was happy with that.

Klee: soo jealous that both boys get a daycare day! DD1 has kinder but poor DD2 missed out on a spot. so have to wait until january for her spot...argh! could do with a quiet only with the new baby day.
RCC: oh wow! great weight gain :dance: i am loving those wake up times too!!! totally green with envy!
Schonell: I am thinking that DD3 is also having a growth spurt. my milk has now trebled in supply i reckon! and she is feeding ALOT. she is now beginning to stretch the boundaries of some of her 0000s.
AFM: all good here :) we had a night of horror last night in that she was unsettled with a sore tummy from 6.30pm to 10.30pm and then woke again around 2ish and was really unhappy then too. poor poppet. i just have so much milk that she really gets a sore tummy from it :( but hopefully it will go like with the other girls and she will learn to process it all in the coming couple of weeks...can live in hope right :lol:
loving that we have some warmer weather though! i get to take her out under the trees and just chill out and watch the big girls ride their bikes and play outside...not to mention BBQs! i have my mum and grandfather visiting from QLD so there are 7 ppl in a 2 bedroom house! crazy. i will be bonkers by the end hahaha (mum decided to stay 2 weeks :o)....

Storm baby sure is feisty. We have cracked out the dummy (a big deal in my world) and I spent most of yesterday crying, only for her to have a wonder night with only one waking! So today I feel a bit better about things.
Have to run, first drs appt in 20 minutes! And DD1 still on the boob. Eeep!
Audax: *snap* we have similar babies i think lol. I have been having fantasies about dummies :lol: must.buy.one. (and yes, a very big deal for me to get to this point too hahaha). all i can say is thank goodness i am eating my own placenta hahaha (ok, i had to make that sound gross just to get a chuckle in...the pill form they come in make it all seem very proper and middle class i must say lol)...i swear those wee little pills are the only thing keeping me chugging along on the crazy boob days.
big hugs for the big cry too :hug: my IM told me that it is ok to cry every now and then...think i will take her up on it soon...especially with all the people in my house...and one bathroom.
oversupply can suck big time. just putting it out there. had the MACH nurse tell me not to complain as undersupply is worse. yep, totally get that, but oversupply is it's own curse in that the tired factor is HUGE, that i cannot even bend over to put my knickers on without spraying all over the floor..and said knickers. not to mention the constant mastitis threat...and well, wet tshirt competitions eat your heart out lol. and of course poor bub. they always tell you that you cannot over feed a BF bub, but tell ya what, you can give them the irrits with a sore belly!

9 days here. We have been to the GP, mostly just for a checkup, and she has put forward the reflux suggestion. I think it might be, so I guess the question is really whether we medicate or not.
My midwife has offered to visit more if I feel like I'm struggling. I kind of do, but I don't think more visits will help. The baby is mostly ok, I feel amazing, I think I'm just overwhelmed by the prospect of flying solo. But, really, I'm not the first person ever to have two kids. It'll be ok.
She suggested not using cloth nappies. Yeah, not gonna happen.

Finally made it in here.... YAY.... haven't had a chance to read back on all posts yet but will soon! :D
I am loving being a mummy of two, DD is such a wonderful big sister, she hasnt shown any sign of being jealous in fact she is so in love with her little brother that you HAVE to ask her for permission to touch her "baby baxbey", it is so sweet to see them together. She is extremely gentle with him and is always on hand to help with nappy changes, bathtime and of course feeding and burping.
DS had his 5 day checkup Monday and has gained weight; born 3.62kg and day 5 was 3.80kg so boobie juice definitely doing its thing. I think it was Cass saying oversupply isn't any fun?? Yes i can second that, I have so much milk that poor Bax drowns in it almost every feed if he goes longer than 3 hrs, which atm he has been (great for nights for me that I get a good stint of sleep) but man my boobs are HUGE and rock hard it takes a while for my breasts to be soft enough that DS can get his mouth around my nipple so he can actually feed.
So other than an abundance supply of breast milk we have, thus far, ventured into a family of 4 quite smoothly. I have to say the best decision was made to come home straight away!! I was in the hospital barely 12hrs and getting home was the best feeling in the world, IF and thats a big IF we have another DH and I have been talking about HomeBirths as even DH noticed how more at ease and relaxed both DS and I were this time round being home straight away.
Got to get cracking on my Birth Story too, its half done lol....

Schonell: how is bubs now? Was she having a growth spurt? She is around 6-7 weeks yeah? I think that's a wonder week isnt it :think: (i really should just buy the darn book hahaha...i am ALWAYS guessing when the wonder weeks are on!).
HPL: That is so awesome that your DD has coped so well with baby bax! i found that my girls loved the baby but were a bit iffy about me and DH lol. they became a bit anxious about getting things done on time (ie: asking for a snack and instead of waiting patiently for me to get it, going bat poo crazy if it wasnt in their hand the moment they finished asking haha).
go the homebirth next time ;) so lovely...and you dont need to go anywhere hahaha.
so jealous of your son's sleep! Your DD was the same wasnt she? It's only in the last couple of days that DD3 has been having a few stretches of naps on her own that last longer than an hour lol.
Audax: so weird! i remember replying to your post...it musta been chewed in the BB garbage disposal haha. What are the signs of reflux? DD3 is mega chucky...sometimes i swear it's like a scene from the exorcist lol. so yeah, have been wondering what reflux is for babies (i have not had reflux myself...or is it like heartburn? kinda had a small bit of that when pregnant).
where is your DH? Or is it that he has already gone back to work? I found that if i took the pressure off to 'go somewhere' all the time it really helped with the stress of the day. i also decided when DD2 came along to only do short, easy trips (mostly cafes and toy stores lol). are there any cafes near you that you can walk to? i cant really remember any in walking distance from our old place in e. brissy...but times have changed...surely lol!
i'm in a similar boat in that i would love to see my IM more often, but dont *really* have any need. just like the maternal love that they can offer. unfortunately my own mum is visiting but is so not in the category of maternal. just another messy houseguest to cook and clean for (and hear criticism from).
Eek on the house guests Cassius. My mum was awesome. And left behind a $400 grocery voucher. We have a cafe next door to our house, and at the other end of the street. But we have plenty on - swimming, and play group, and friends bringing meals every few days. DD1 has been really good about getting out of the house.
Sounds like we have similar boobs as well as similar babies. Oversupply was causing all our problems. Block feeding is fixing it - I've assigned each kid a boob, and DD2 is much more settled for it.
Weigh in today, 4.45! Supports the oversupply theory!
*snap* have been doing the one boob feed thang now for a few days too and it appears to be working a treat (phew!).
I wish i had a $400 food voucher! we have spent nearly $500 in the last 10 days with no offer of help :o
Cass: She's 10 weeks tomorrow :( Apparently wonder weeks go on corrected age not actual, or so says the app! So she's 3 corrected. Think she had a growth spurt though, had a power spew about an hour ago - all over the swing so I'll have to figure out how the cover comes off and wash it in the morning. That's a lot for 10 days. Can't believe no offer to help..
Auds I'm always up for a catch up if you want to let the older kids play together. Hope you're feeling ok.

Oh my god. That is hideous! There is no way we even went close to spending that on feeding my mm, but she wanted to help out and pay "board":
One thing I kind of wish she hadn't done, though, is clean the ants nest out of our radio. They were happy there. Now they're displaced, and all over the house, looking for a new home. They're tiny bitey ones, so it's particularly annoying.
