G I saw your seachange thread and wondered if it was the looming fire season that has nudged you in that direction. I would *love* to live by the sea again, definitely a great lifestyle for active kids. Hope everyone is on the mend now, sometimes it just seems like the tag-team is never going to end. :hug: Are you doing anything with your Dad for your birthday?

Um yeah, I did come home with fabric - I've got a few coordinating pieces in a christmassy version of Cicely Mary Barker flower fairies (aaaaah I know how twee that sounds!!!). No idea what to do with it yet tho. Missy E was enchanted by it though. :)

MP - maybe all those good immune-boosting agents in your BM is protecting little J. Hope you feel better soon.

trill- yes he's doing the bridge to bridge.

md- yes the looming fire season has freaked us out a little....we've committed to 2 more summers in the house and then it's on the market. i just don't feel like i can live there forever.....and dh is sick of the killer mozzies LOL

Kate: awesome that your DH is more on the ball with the PND JIC it comes back with another bub. so so important. we have taken quite a few steps in preparation of the JIC possibility...so worth it to not be starting at square one like we did last time IYKWIM.

MM: I AM SO JEALOUS!!! hope you have a ball and get to go backstage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AFM: all good here. spent the day doing the bunnings/ikea run...and not one marital argument!!! Although it does appear that we have to prepare ourselves for Leila dropping day sleeps....oohhhhh nooooooooo! it wouldnt be too bad if only for the 2ish hours where she would normally be asleep she is still not coping very well. i figure that i will use that time instead for quiet 'downtime' stuff. like books and a DVD...what do you guys think?? or more to the point...what did/do you guys do??

well met the family yesterday and it looks like ill be starting work next thrusday.. bit nervous but the kids already like me and didnt want me to leave so i think im already off to a good start there.. they arent that out of controll in the grand scheme of things.. they do beat on eachother a bit (3 and almost 5yr old boys) the youngest boy had a black eye and the eldest was proudly telling me how he had caused it.. i think mostly theyre just bored and have alot of energy to be stuck at home all day with nothing to do and their mum, struggling with mental illness is struggling to entertain them.. i think ill be very tired but i dont think its anything i cant handle job wise :)
home wise everyone is bloody sick!! kids both have colds and ofc im going to catch it just before i start work!! ughh ahh well not much i can do about that.. money is going to be great will actually be able to pay off some debts and start putting away some money coz were currently getting the baby bonus payments and had planned to save and pay off debt with them too but just havnt been able to :( miks next pay will include his pay rise too and then im gonna start getting paid and doing 32 hours a week im going to be earning more than double what i currently get in centrelink benefits which i will get disconnected probably eventho we may still be entitled to a small amount because weve been receiving more at the beginning of the year i dont wanna incurr a debt to them so better to just get anything we may be owed at tax time if we can afford to do it that way.. ahhh lots going on atm thats for sure!
mm - wow good work with the dummy, im not game to go there yet with Asha shes VERY attatched to it, think ill be waiting till after xmas atleast, billy dosnt take one tho.. as much as i try with him (coz sometimes hes not easy to settle) hes just not everly interetsed, he has a good suck on his hands every now and then tho so i guess hes just not gonna be a big dummy boy..
clare - wow thats an achievement, dh and i can go to places like that without arguing lol its a nightmare! i avoid it unless absolutely necessary, more ikea than bunnings lol.. as for day sleeps asha still has them, she has the odd day every now and then where she just refuses so i think she may not be that far from starting to drop them.. i think making that time of the day quiet time/down time is the way to go, quiet activities like drawing or reading stories or dvds, anything to get them to sit still for a little while and unwind.. not always easy with a toddler tho!!
ginger - the sea change sounds great :) will be loveley living by the sea with the boys :) deffinately understand how the fire season could freak u out like that.. hope you had a great birthday!!
mp - oh no hope the gastro clears up asap!!
kate- my cousin had problems with ear infections, he got gromits put in because fluid in the ear wasnt draining which made him prone to infections.. once they put the gromits in he was heaps better his speech got better too because he couldnt hear that well due to the pooling of fluid in his ears..

Oz: i totally bawled when i saw it LOL! i am such a sucker! it was kinda cool to see an epi birth...in a way i can see the appeal, i *guess* that you can really gather your thoughts and maybe even be able to really be able to *know* your baby is coming and totally get ready and MEGA excited by that ITMS...gosh i hope that makes sense LOL!

Noni: bummer about your family being sick...fingerscrossed that you avoid it. so what you mean about c'link and not wanting to incur debt....you get made to feel like a real criminal if they overpay you. it's a glorious moment being able to disconnect from them, congrats!

AFM: well, my news isnt really my own but my friend's waters broke this morning!!!! it was meant to be her babyshower today!! i had been organising it and i got a call in the early morning with her telling me it had just happened! so happy for her. she was a bit nervous as she is a bit early (36 weeks), but i reckon she has done an amazing job growing that baby and that she (baby is a girl) will be just fine. can't wait to hear when that baby has arrived!! i am sooo excited LOL!

Hi everyone. W is starting to whinge so I will be quick.

Camping with a toddler and a 9 week old baby is a DISASTER!!!!

So glad to be home. William was tired and excited and silly. Amelia must have been overstimulated/overtired and lost the plot completely. She was hysterical and I couldn't settle her. In the end DH had to walk her around for over an hour to calm her. Then in the morning we went out on the boat. A screamed every time the engine was off so DH couldn't fish, then on the way back we ran out of petrol. Then the auxillery motor ran out of petrol. We made it back by the skin of our teeth after shaking the dregs of the main tank into the auxillery. William had fun though, but we won't be doing that again in a hurry. Camping plans for christmas have been postponed for a few years.

omg Arte, i'm so sorry but i had to laugh at your boating story. reminded me of something out of national lampoon's vacation.

Hey has anyone started to think about how they are going to tackle the Christmas tree thing this year? Can't decide if we should have the big one and just keep all the fragile/dangerous ornaments in the box, or drag out the old (and slightly threadbare) one which is small enough to put up on a cabinet where Missy E can't reach...hmmmmm. The FDC lady says she puts hers up on Pageant Day -that's next weekend - so maybe she can train E not to touch for a few weeks before ours comes out! LOL

LOL MD, I was sceptical but I didn't think it would be as bad as it was. I would go for the big tree, just keep the good ornaments up high and make sure it is well anchored so it doesn't tip. I think we are going to get a real tree this year, love the smell of pine at christmas time.

Ginger, you are so right. We are not going on holiday until the kids can ride bikes/entertain themselves. You are going to enjoy your sea change so much, it is fantastic to wake on a sunny day, throw a few things together and get the boat in the water (just bring extra petrol lol). I just saw that baby Jimmy is 8 months old! How did that happen??

We haven't been on all that many family holidays but it's never been a real drama except for the time we went to Forster when Erin was 5 months old and OMG she was never one to enjoy long car trips and I think she spent a good 6 hours of the trip screaming. YOu can imagine what the tension in the car was like by the time we got there ;) But once we got there it was always easy kwim. I do agree though that the only ones on holiday are DH and the kids though :rolleyes: especially since we only ever do self catering accommodation and I'm still cooking and washing every day.

G the sea change sounds like a great idea. DH must be a pretty awesome skiier if he is taking on the bridge to bridge. We really need to get our boat out this year too - we haven't even pulled it out of the shed for 2 seasons.

MD, surprisingly we didn't have all that much trouble with Alister touching the tree last year - not as much as I thought anyway so I don't think we'll have an issue at all this year, but then we don't have *nice* ornaments anyway, just cheapies. having her trained not to touch the tree at FDC sounds like a top plan though LOL.

All good here. Livi is going great at Toilet training and is in undies all day apart from her sleep. She is even pooing on the toilet I am amazed at how easy she has been compaired to the nightmare with the boys.

Can I just explain we're a year behind on the Chrissy tree because we were in transit last year, we took a teeny-table-top optical fibre one & a string of lights for the apartment we were in. So we haven't tested the alluringess of our tree yet.

Arte - yeah bring extra petrol - that's THE reason that my holidays are never relaxing, being Virgoan I *must* prepare for every eventuality before we leave the front door SO I'm usually a nervous wreck (over the possibility of leaving behind something crucial, which we manage to do usually anyway) AND we tow along twice as much cr@p than we need, which is a headache in itself. It doesn't help that DH is a compulsive hoarder (and packs his cr@p into the car first) AND we have a medium sized 4 cyl family sedan not a wagon or anything. But despite all that I do find myself thinking....hmmm ...a holiday would be nice!! LOL

Trill ugh I think that will go down in your family history as the car ride from hell. I'm shattered after about 20 mins of in-car crying so that would've been horrendous. BTW I have been following your blog Mrs B, nice work.

...still no news of my friend and her baby...oohhh i never realised how hard it is to be on the 'non-pushing' end LOL!!! i just wanna know that all is OK and that mumma and bubba are all good and happy IYKWIM....oh well, patience is a virtue LOL! i guess there will be a baby in the next 24 hours as they tend to induce 24 hours post ROM. hope she is ok eeeppppp.

Leanne: i am jealous! leila desperately wants to wear her undies/training pants, but just doesnt really get that you have to go to the toilet to actually the business LOL! so we get caught up poo and pee everywhere lol. i think i will hold off for a bit longer...

Arte: oh dear, it does have a lampoon feel about it your camping trip LOL! i'm sure you guys will be back out there in no time. the difference between a newborn and a one year old for example seems like a lifetime away but it will be there before you know it and from then on i reckon it will be way easier!

MD: well, we have only got a tiny plastic number that will no doubt be place up on a table. i would like it on the ground but i just *know* that it could scar DDs sense of 'christmas spirit' if i am going banshee on her every 2 minutes telling her not to stick baubles in her mouth...i know it will happen....the pull of the sparkles are stronger than she is LOL!

AFM: not much to report. am alone in the office today, so feeling a bit lonely. but i guess my friend has more important things to do today LOL!
i'm enjoying the heat, i must say. leila entertained herself all day yesterday in the shell pool and with some painting. we took it very easy...

Clare we keep our boat here at home in a shed. It's a ski boat so we only use it for water skiing. There isnt anywhere close by with water now - the lake we used to go to is empty so we have to find somewhere further away. I hope your friend is going OK. Maybe they weren't her waters and shes at home now?

Leanne that's great she's TT so well.

MD, lucky for me DH doesn't pack a lot of stuff when we go away but when we go out skiing for a day we take more crap than we do when going away for an entire week LOL.

MD- Hummmmm not really sure. Could be a number of things really.... being a girl, being a singleton,having other siblings to watch, could be me being more relaxed about it. But whatever it is I am very very happy :dance: as the boys were shockers :wall:. lol

leanne - generally boys are much harder to TT than girls.. not really sure why but it seems to be the way it goes..
md - we have a smallish tree that we sit on the table it was ok last year coz ash couldnt really climb.. not sure whats gonna happen this year! none of our decorations are that expensive anyway tho..

my friend had her baby girl at 11.20am this morning!!! her name is Julia and i CAN'T (read: REALLY CAN'T) wait to see them both and give them both big phat cuddles!!!!

I wouldn't say that TT one gender over another is harder at all - girls can be just as hard to TT as boys and some boys can be easy. DS1 was dead easy to TT by the time he was fully ready to TT. If anything girls can be a bit harder as you have to teach them to wipe themselves properly and wipe all the time, whereas with boys they just have to give a quick shake and their done and wiping isn't as big an issue as it is with girls kwim.

We have a big tree, there are a few precious ornaments that I might just pack away for this year, rather than run the risk of them being broken. Although I was very surprised last year at how good she was with the tree.

Arte - I looked for pumpkin seeds, but they only had Jarrahdale and butternut varieties. Sorry the camping trip didn't go well, but I did enjoy reading about it! It didn't look that bad on your FB photos either (certainly not when they were both asleep)

have any of you had experience of the so called 4 mnths sleep regression? Jacob is v wakeful at night atm, sleeps ok til about 11 and then is up every hour or 90 mins.. quite upset... is this common? he is 4 months now... he is develpoing v fast now.. so i thought that could be it. rolling onto his side and VERY verbal all of a sudden, plus drooling heaps all of a sudden and extremely 'social', he also seems ot get quite upset when he cant see me (i thought it was a bit early for this).
oh gotta go... will ty to pop on later (computer still broken so not easy atm and have to use itouch) love to you all and sorry such a bad buddy

Sherie: ah, i didnt realise that there would of once been a lake nearby LOL! i am so used to just hearing of droughts growing up that the notion of a large lake in a regional place is rather foreign...ah what a sad state of affairs...at our local dam in my home (country) town, it went so low that the tops of the houses that they flooded all those years ago to fill the dam started to show! became a bit of sight-seeing spectacular LOL!

Cally: oh that is wonderful news about Bethany! April babies are GREAT LOL! ;) hope the work quietens down for you soon...dont want to be working too hard!

have the air-con going...dont know how to use the frikkin ducted cooling. sooo need to master it by tonight as you can have it work in specific sections of the house (rather than having to cool the whole place ITMS). so would like to have it on in Ls bedroom and in ours...was waaay too hot to sleep last night. took until about 10pm to get poor L down...

trill- thinking back to all the kids ive done tt with i think possibly the boys were harder because there parents were pushing it before they were truley ready.. i think in the children ive seen the girls have been ready earlier but thats not to say they always are because obviously its a minute portion of the general population of children ive looked after lol very true on the wiping i didnt think of that side of it..

Clare did you work out the aircon? I'm feeling rather smug that we got ours in when we did because a couple of friends left it a few weeks later and they're now regretting it LOL. Yay for baby Julia, how exciting.

MP Don't know about 4 mth sleep regression, Missy E turned a very bad corner around the 5 mth mark, that was when the fun and games started (ugh still can't believe it was over 4 months later when we finally got it sorted out) - are you sure it's a pattern developing and not just a short unsettled run?

Noni - does A actually swim or do you just play in the water? I'm thinking I'd like to start Missy E with some swimming lessons soon, just for safety, kwim?

Oz - I love that you're having a girls and boys weekend! Enjoy Sydney.

The diamond undies are pretty special - they are by Rio and are little stick on sequins in a heart shape on the front. Came in a 5 pack.

Clare - your air conditioning probably works in zones as opposed to actual rooms that you can turn on and off, so try looking through the controller for anything to do with zones.

MP - we had the three month sleep regression where she started waking 2-3 times a night. We went to QE2 at 6.5 months. You probably didn't want to know that....

Have had a few early mornings here. DD took her sleeping bag off the other night, so that has now been put away in the cupboard. I think she is waking up because she is cold, so we need to do some more practice with blanket pulling up.

No big pumpkin seeds yet, still on the hunt but will try butternuts anyway if we have no success!

MD - looks like it is REALLY hot there this week. It is pretty warm here too, but coping ok - more indoor time with J than i would usually have.
Oz - how is it all going? i cant believe Z is 4 wks already - it goes so quickly the second time hey.

Well, re the sleep regression i am not sure - i am just hoping it isnt a bad pattern forming as he has been so good til now with the self settling and N was such a nightmare... I thyink it is just an unsettled time - he was a bit unsettled last night again but not as bad so we are hopefully coming to the end of it. I had read a little about the 4 month regression so just wanted to know if any of you had a clear one and how you got them through it. I might post a thread about it just to see...
On the TT front - N has done 2 wees in the potty! onelast night and one this morning! we arew trying to be relaxed about it but i think this is good progress. question - how do you transition into using the training undies (which I bought) - do they have to be using the potty a lot. each of these were done when we just put hm on there when he 'usually' seems to wee - before bath and when he got up - so he didnt tell me he needed to go or anything. funniest thing - he told me they were both yellow wees - i think he thinks some will be a different colour!!! anyway i am proud of him!
we have the kindy fete this weekend - should be nice. i need to do some baking for it. will be good ot bake again, i have been layig off since i have been on ww. i havelost another kg now, so 4kg down so far!

ETA - Cally.. what were the wake ups like? J always wakes 2 or 3 times (when he is 'good' LOL) but it is usually a quick feed and chg and he is back to sleep... so i thought that was prettyy ok at this age - am i kidding myself he is an ok sleeper? i just dont want to be in a terrible pattern like we got into with N... i know some babies sleep through at this age and i just cant imagine J doing that. I am happy thathe self settles a lot of the time for day naps and at night.

Cally: ah yeah, it has zones....and in those zones it has different levels of fan force?? so hard to figure out...

Oz: that is so cool that L is coping well with Zs arrival, it's a fear of mine if we have another bubba...Leila is always a bit concerned when we hold another baby lol.

MD: worked out how to use the simple (not awesome ducted) aircon. so not as effective, but divine nonetheless for yesterday. loving this place LOL!

AFM: all good. am at work (cant you tell? ;)) have the air con on and am enjoying the sunny weather. got to visit my friend and her baby yesterday for some CUDDLES! so exciting and she was soooo tiny and soooo perfect!!! like a little lamb *mwah*. leila thought the hospital was cool with its wide corridors and managed to find some crinkly flower wrapper paper and ran up and down scrunching it loudly...:rolleyes:, ahhh nothing like an out of control toddler to ruin the romantic illusion of newborn calm...

Mp - our wakeups were just for a feed and a change, but I am really bad when I have disturbed sleep so I didn't cope very well with it. K had been just doing one wakeup for over a month so I had got very used to that. It may also have been especially bad as DH got shocking gastro about that time where he had a whole week off work and that meant my parents didn't come down for a vist and I had a major meltdown in front of MIL as well. Well done N on the TT, we have had so much practice, but nothing seems to come out. I would love to put her on when she wakes up in the mornings, but if she isn't taken straight to the fridge for some yogurt, we have huge meltdowns.

I think with the training undies I would use them when he is good at the potty and you were really ready to start training. ie, not when you're about to go away, when he is telling you often that he has done wee's etc
