Arte - I would be beyond angry!that said dh and I speak about 20 rimes a day - we have google messenger at work so I know when he is driving home , when he leaves the house etc, what meetings he is at - and he knows the same of me. So we re thenother extreme!!
I hope he calls soon - I must say I am quote shocked by that ESP as you are pteg and home w the kids.
On the plus side I am really glad you are feeling better - breathing is a good thing!!

Holy Crap MP - 25 kids!! Good luck with that! But I guess when there are that many they sort of entertain themselves?? You are good at the mass gatherings though - I bet the food will be amazing!
It is unlike him not to contact us for this long, I am sure he is just fixated on using the internet on his ipod and hasn't even considered using the phone in his room/other internet etc. Had to hug W for ages this arvo as he sobbed his little heart out because he misses his dad :(

Ginger, I haven't heard anything yet. I am sure if something bad had happened the other guy would have contacted work or something so I would have been notified. I am not going to go chasing after him. I am interested in what excuse he is going to give, since he is unaware that I know that his workmate has been calling home. Perhaps he ate the wrong thing and has been glued to the toilet for the last 4 days??
W just discovered the potato gems last weekend! At the motel we got a deal where we got breakfast for all of us for $10 and he went to town on them!
Anyway, after all the dread it isn't actually that bad having the kids by myself. They are sleeping well which makes a difference.

Got an email. Said he couldn't find any wi-fi and his workmate couldn't get his computer working until today.

I bet that's a relief but it probably won't reduce the cranky factor. LOL at potato gems. I don't think my girls would know what they were, but given that they are brown and kinda fried no doubt they would be a hit (worked for fish fingers).
Cass, that is AMAZING news. Though tbh I would probably be more excited about the Italy end than the other. (*gets wistful look in eyes*)
MP wow I can't believe J is nearly 2!! Wild! I'm sure the party will be a raving success, you are the hostess with the mostess!
Ginger, have you got your Ikea stuff all assembled yet? When we went we came home with a megaload of stuff - took nearly a week of tinkering to get it all together. Told DH we're not buying that much all in one hit again but I'm sure we will again when it's DD1's turn LOL.
Isa, I'm sorry you're having such a disappointment :hug:. I agree with Arte though, you might need to give it a little more time. It's worth asking about its appearance when you have the review appt with the surgeon. Are you generally feeling ok with every thing else?

Arte = well I am glad he got into contact but I would be fuming anyway!!! I am glad it is all going ok being home alone w the kids though and that they are sleeping ok.
ISa - I am sorry you are disappointed - maybe time will help? be thankful you are happy with the rest of you - i am irreparably different after having the boys. and i think bikinis are a long gone dream of mine lol!I hope you have a wonderful holiday - jealous jealous!
thanks for all the well wishes for J's bday party - i am feeling like i havent organised much, but i guess there isnt too much to do - we are not having it at home, it is at kids can (where he does gymaroo type stuff on tuesdays). they do all the entertaining... i have bought some boxes to make up food packs for the kids... and now he just needs to choose a cake! making blood orange and choc muffins and lemon curd friands for the adults.
i cant believe he is 2 - he isgrowing up so much! lots of talking now which i just love. he is a bit of a terror, many more discip0line thiungs to sort w him than we had with noah - but he is great fun! he has been in a bed for about a month now (cant remember if i told you) and that is going well. he astill gets uyp at 5 - but i am learning to live with it!

Well, HUGE milestone in our house today. After Missy E's first dentist trip when the dentist advised that her dummy sucking is clearly affecting her bite, and now that DH is home, we went totally cold turkey on the dummy last night. Decided not to try to seek agreement or talk it up at all (because she has been so refusing when the topic has come up before now). There were tears - mostly of the furious shouting demanding kind - but with lots of cuddles we got through it and when she woke up the morning the fairies had left a bunny on her bed (!!!) It is an exact replica of the little bunny which is her comfort toy except much larger and she was absolutely thrilled and straightaway she announced it was a Mummy Bunny. (Of course!) Which is just sooo cute, and reminded me that as mummies we are still the centre of their worlds.
Anyway, we'll see how it all goes down at 7.30 tonight when night 2 rolls around...

LOL MD! Fingers crossed tonight is OK. Since P is 7 now we've told her it is time to stop sucking her thumb because it is affecting the way her adult teeth are coming in and since Monday she's been really good. I think she was ready in a way too and just doing it out of habit. She has a toy sheep that she snuggles with.
Arte, so glad you heard from your DH. I know it isn't going to stop you feeling cranky though.
MP! Good to hear from you. The party sounds like it will be great fun.
H, maybe you just need to give it a little more time to heal? You are just over a week post-op and surgical wounds never look pretty straight away :hug:
I have huge exciting news!!!!! I found out the other day that Roger Waters was bringing his The Wall tour to Aus next year and only doing 4 shows. I immediately hyperventilated and wondered what my chances were of getting a ticket and then I got an email about going on a pre-sale waiting list for it and OMG the email came today saying that they had presale tickets and I GOT ONE!!!!!! I called DH to see if it was OK, and he said umm no, not unless you have a secret stash of money hidden somewhere. So I rang Mum and asked her if she could pay for it for my birthday present (seeing as how the concert will be in Feb next year) and she said YES!!!!! It was only $179 for a ticket and I will be nearly bumping my head on the roof of Rod Laver arena the seat is that cheap LOL, but I don't care - I'm just stoked that I'm GOING!!! But I haven't told DH yet ;) I will just tell him I'll try to get one in the main ticket sale.

MD, good luck for night 2 of no dummy. It is hard to make them give up baby comforts!
I cracked it a couple of weeks ago about going into W's room and resettling, so now he is allowed to come into my room for a cuddle and a kiss and then has to go back to bed by himself. Results in at least a half hour wobbly every time he wakes. Last night was a disaster and he woke A up every time I got her back to sleep and it dragged on for two hours!!! But I figure I need to get it over and done with now, I can't be spending an hour sitting by his bed in the middle of the night when the new baby is here.
This single parenting thing isn't as bad as I was imagining. Although I guess if I hadn't gone away last weekend the tedium and deathly boredom would have set in which would be hard to deal with. My brother and his girlfriend are coming up this weekend - the gf hasn't seen snow so hopefully there is some on the ski field by then. I guess we can do some sight seeing stuff and my bro is really good with kids so that will help me out a bit :)

MD, I had the no cry baby book but haven't looked at the toddler one. I tried a couple of things suggested when W was little but it didn't work for us.
Were Borders and Whitcoulls over there in danger of going under? They just about sank here but thankfully someone bailed them out. I LOVE browsing around Borders (pre children - would be a nightmare now!). Why are they all shutting down? Internet shopping? Or people just don't read as much now?
I think we will do a family day out when DH gets back - W is busting to see the new Cars movie but it seems rather violent compared to the first. I guess we will just watch it at the movies and not have it at home for constant viewing if it isn't as appropriate as the first.

They're blaming internet shopping (like it's the consumer's fault) but there are other big volume retailers like Big W who can sell for so much cheaper than they ever did (plus electronic formats have had an effect too I think). Classic example, even at "clearance" prices 50-70% off some titles were still cheaper elsewhere. Yes Borders has gone under, as has Angas & Robertson. Initially only some stores but now it's pretty much most of them. My all time fave independent bookstore closed too which is a mega-boo-hoo, I think there were ways she could have exploited her cute location and really played up the independent-ness. It's all pretty shocking in Adelaide where there has been a big reading culture for many decades. We've gone from having 4 or 5 bookstores in Rundle Mall to only 1 in teh space of about a month.
That poops me right off when they market movies to kids of a certain age and then the content is not so suitable!!

oh MD, i hear you on the movie front. it seems that it is all about the "in" jokes for adults rather than just the darn good entertainment value for kids IYKWIM. i mean, toy story is awesome and all but it really did change the way we view a "successful" kids moving. bah, off my soapbox lol.
i did a quick browse at the borders taht is closing here in 9 days and i must say that i also noticed that even at 60% off everything that the books are cheaper at BigW. so didnt buy anything.
Arte: i would still be barmy at him for only sending a frikkin' email...but i am petty lol. and sheesh about the 2 hours of "fun" in the middle of the night with W. i would be bonkers. How is your pg this time going? no doubt flying by!

AFM: not much to really report on. Leila is 3 going on 13 :rolleyes:; i bought the cutest little cardi for her from the BIG (Fiona Scanlon) store today that was having 50% off storewide, soooo cute! and i have found that stuff to be quite durable (especially as leila is rough as guts with her clothes).
Marta was wide awake for 13 hours straight today so i was going a bit troppo and feel like i have been hit by a legion of buses lol.
Oh, and you all must check out leila and marta on the babyology website :). remember how i said that i won a hugg-a-planet prize? well, the put up a pic of the girls with the prize on their website :dance:. check it out! babyology com au (you can just scroll down for the article and click through!). that is my proud mummy moment lol.

Far out, you lost Borders??!! That is a sad day :( But you are right that the specials can't compete with what you can pay online. There are two major websites here that I use and I can order a book at 4pm and have it on my doorstep at 8am the next morning.
Cass, that planet thing is awesome! W would love something like that. I am going to get him a model of the planets. I can't keep up with everything he wants to know.
And I am still rather dirty about DH's lack of communication. I sent a...not nice... email but then I deleted it - I am sure he actually was trying and I don't want to ruin his trip - but there is definitely a storm brewing when he gets home.
The pregnancy is going fine - 30 weeks today! I should really get onto some sort of diabetes testing. I am a bit concerned it has cropped up again but my midwife is away and the locum can't prescribe the test sticks for the machine.

Meh, I was never a huge Border's fan, I did appreciate the in-house coffee but I always though the vast bulk of its stock was overpriced.
Wow that is fantastic delivery Arte, are they NZ companies or internationals? BTW I admire your restraint. I have been known to be a long-distance shrieking harpy before today. I'll blame it on having my moon in Aries.

MD: i am with you on the screaming harpy. if DH doesnt call me before 9pm on the nights he is away i open a can of whoop-ass lol. mebbe that is why he has decided that it just easier to take me to LA instead of leaving us here :rofl:
oh and i am sooo much more excited about the italy side too. i think it is simply because i know where where we will be living and have friends etc etc. LA is the big unknown (and therefore a teeny weeny bit daunting).
