wow! cally & ella you girls sound so smart!!! what awesome careers. yes it does sound like you are in the right location for it ella :)

arte- any signs of bub? i am so stalking you LOL can't wait to see a BA, it's just so exciting for us 'no more babies' girls.

for girly girls- what about one of those heads with the hair on it that you can brush and plait etc. I've heard they are a real hit with girly girls. i have the opposite sort of things going on here though so I'm probably not the best person to give advice on this. my boys are so boy boys- all i hear about is kreo transformers at the moment? wt?

i am still feeling sick. luckily i have dad coming up today to give me a bit of a hand, but I'm thinking i'll have to make a double gp appointment for tomorrow for J and myself to get us both checked over.

the good news is that dh is really enjoying his new job. he has been working saturdays to give us the extra $ that we need, but he's really happy with the day to day of the job and finds it much less stressful and slower paced than running the business. i think it was the best move ever!!!
i got a letter from my old school asking if i would go back for next year sas they currently have an enrolment of 490 year 7s for 2012. for anyone not in the know, that is HUGE numbers- more than 20 classes of just year 7s. i am definitely not ready to return yet though as i would have no one to look after the boys. they'll just have to wait! lol

G: that is pretty cool though that they still want you! a bit of a confident boost i reckon! when were you thinking of going back to work? when J is at kinder? I am really torn about starting any full on work...TBH i quite like being at home :) i just wish the money flow was brighter lol.

Ella: i second Cally, that it will kinda be like riding a bike...all those skills will come back in a flash and it will feel like you never left within a fortnight...well, that's what i am hoping for if/when i get back into the public service lol.

Ginger, OMG that is a massive amount of students! I first thought that the 490 was the entire school! Far out, I can't even imagine how many kids are in the whole school then.
Glad that your DH is enjoying the new job. Must be nice just showing up, doing his bit and going home again without having to worry about the extras that go with being self employed.

Ella, good on you for still sitting on the floor! I tried lying down on the floor to stretch my back a few weeks ago and spent the next 20 minutes trying to get back up - my tailbone hurt too much to roll onto my side.

Those only-a-head barbie doll things freak me out!! What a creepy toy! We have one at toy library and I hope A never wants to get it out lol. Ginger, is L into construction sets? W just can't get enough of the electronics set we got from Toy Library - I can't believe how much time he is spending on it. They have a whole range of things at toy library so we are going to try out the magnetic things, k'nex etc and find the best one for Christmas.

No sign of baby. I want to have a baby!! Instead I have got a stupid essay on Alzheimer's Disease to get though :(
Baking birthday cakes today. W was terribly disappointed that A still can't talk even though she is two - he kept saying "I should be able to talk to her now that she is two, but she still can't talk!" - I think he was expecting her to suddenly be able to talk to him lol.

ETA, Cass, we posted at the same time - DH had a similar problem to M a few months back and it turned out to be Giadia and he needed antibiotics to kick it, so worth taking her in. Hopefully she is better by Saturday.

MD, that is a great result! I submitted an essay for PE the other day and she's already posted that there have been fails given! Sure works a treat on lowering the confidence level! I never doubted your academic future at all - you sell yourself short sometimes MD :hug:

H, I'm doing 3 subjects which is a fulltime load and its not been too bad - but then I only have 1 child at home and my other children are older so its not been a drama. Net year I will do 4 but I know I will have to work really hard to maintain it. I reckon if you think it will be too much, drop back to 1 or 2 because you can always pick up an extra later if you feel up for it.

G, how is J today? It sucks trying to get them to take medicine. I used to have to hold A down when he was that age to get him to have it, and it was awful!

Cally that is great you will have the extra hands at work!

Arte, are you actually due yet and gone past it or did you have a bit to go? I can't remember if you ever said an actual date or not? Either way I hope it's not much longer now for you :hug:

I still have the tail end of the flu. My voice is still shot though which I hate. My throat is just so raw feeling atm. But it is on the improve even if it is slow. As I said to MD, I submitted an essay for PE and when she posted within 2 days of it closing that she'd already given Fails it made my heart sink. I think I did OK, but I just know this PE subject will be just as sucky as the last one now. I tried to get an extension for the assignment based on me and 4 kids all being sick and she wouldn't give me one! Then I was talking to someone who lives near me who is also doing this subject and in the last 3 weeks the poor thing has had her father diagnosed with kidney cancer which meant he had a kidney out and she lost her uncle to cancer as well and she couldn't even get an extension from this lecturer! Talk about hard ass! So she told me she just didn't hand it in. So I know she will be one of the fails, but she didn't have to be kwim? So now I am just hoping for a pass!

Little A's has started again for the year. I didn't enrol A again this year because I still don't think he's up for it. I see some of the parents trotting out kids who are only just eligible and OMG some of them are still in nappies! Funny story from Friday night though - I'm L's age group manager and we were waiting for his group to run the 800ms, but we had to wait for the younger groups to run their 200's. It was getting close to 6pm and getting a bit dark and I was standing at the finish line and I could see this kid running across a few lanes and then back into her lane and then back across again (you are meant to stay in your running lane for 200m) and I jokingly said "Far out! I wonder who that kid is running across the lanes' and when she got closer I realised it was MY kid :rofl: It was P and OMG we all burst out laughing when we realised I'd said that about my own kid. It was hilarious.

Trill, lol about P! That must have been funny. Your PE lecturer sounds like a really hard *****!! What on earth would she consider good enough to give an extension for? And how rude is it to post about fails - in my courses nothing is said, just the number of fails if they release the grade spread. It doesn't benefit anyone to announce it.

Not due until friday, just want her to come out soon because we have the kid's party on Saturday lol. She isn't fitting with my schedule though lol

DH didn't feel like going to work today so he is doing the kindy/activities run and I am supposed to be doing my essay but I really don't feel like it!

I'm supposed to be doing a maths assignment and I'm having trouble getting into it too so I know the feeling Arte! I reckon she will be born early next week. You've go so much on your plate this week that once you get W's party over with on the weekend you can relax and then she will come.

I reckon it was rude to post about it too, but she did say that she was basically giving us a heads up and that the fails showed how much students were disengaged from their readings. Not that it makes it any better, but these elective subjects suck because you don't get any lectures or topic notes - just get given the readings and the assignments and set on your way. So it's no wonder some students have no clue what they are doing. And I agree about wondering what she would give an exemption for. When this person and I were talking about it we said the same thing. But one the other hand, I got an extension for an assignment purely because I was on prac - that lecturer said she understood the extra workload that prac brings and so long as we could send her a copy of our prac confirmation she was happy to extend it and I got an extra 2 weeks!

Trill - You have to wonder about some of these lecturers at uni... They promote adult learning, yet on the other hand they treat us like kids. Your friend had such a valid reason, you too. My DH always asks for extensions....but he has a poor reason, he always leaves his essays to the last min!! :wall: Also its so unfair letting it slip that people have failed, how about keeping it private. Must be on a power trip. Anyway, I'm sure you will do fine. Yes 3 units is way too much, therefore I unenrolled from one. I am a bit of a perfectionist (which I think is a bad quality!) and I try to give my all to my study, I just couldnt do it with 3!! I must add I also stress myself out trying to be perfect, wish I could be like DH who pulls all nighters to whip out an essay that will just pass the mark lol. And he is happy with that!!

Ginger - So glad the job has been a good move. :)

Arte - Just in case I dont get back on, I want to wish you all the best for your impending arrival. I hope things go smoothly for you, and I cant wait to hear your good news.

MD - Firstly, Happy birthday!!! What did you do today for your special day? Thankyou, I'm sure if I did put my mind to it I could do 3 units at once...but its not worth it, I stress as it is. 3 is way too much for me, I unenrolled from one. DH actually enrolled me while he was doing his units, I'm sure he thinks I sit around all day long.... I still gotta care for two kids and do the housework, so its just no go atm. That is such a huge pain about the referencing, omg, I would be spitting chips. And also you definately have a promising academic future, keep at it.

Cass - How are the girls now? Sounds horrible! :(

My mum just called, she is taking M for a sleepover on Thurs AND Fri and taking her to the playschool concert....YAY for grandma!! :)

By the way, that disembodied barbie head toy was the one that had my parents screwing up their noses LOL. Missy E would totally love it. She's got a big tin box full of loads of clippies and anything that sits still for longer than 3 minutes is likely to get their hair done (yes that does include both the dog and the cat LOL).

Arte, I hope you get that Alzheimers essay sorted before bubs arrives. I've forgotten what sort of cake you said you were doing? We're postponing E's party for a couple of weeks because it's just too much for me to deal with psychologically turning 40 AND planning a party in the same week LOL. There has been talk of a jumpy castle which we totally shouldn't be spending our $ on, but the thought has been thunk now so we might even do it.

Trill, that's really rough not getting an extension for illness (for crying out loud). You've got to wonder sometimes what agendas some of these academics have. I can't believe they don't give you any notes or guidance! We're going to try E with Little A's this summer (ours doesn't start for a few more weeks) but the mystery factor is whether she can cope with the social anxiety/shyness factor enough to enjoy it.

Isa, good decision dropping a subject. I'm a bit of perfectionist too, it would be so much easier to care a whole lot less LOL. I hope M has a lovely time with grandma!

Doll head things, I've suggested that as a pressie for Miss K this year. I spend a lot of time sitting on the floor with her doing my hair and her doll's always have a number of hair clips in them.

Trill - that Little A's story sounds like the ad for glasses on TV when the Dad is cheering the race and it's someone else's kid who wins.

Ginger - far out 490 kids in Year 7. DH's school is just over the 700 mark and they stress every year if it will still be over 700 because if it drops below for 2 years in a row they lose a deputy and a number of other staff.

Isa - enjoy the sleepover, Miss K is refusing sleepovers at the moment.

Man my sleep is shot at the moment. I keep waking up super early and then I need an early night because I am so tired which means I wake up early again the next day! Grr. Luckily the site office has a coffee machine and the guys make me a cappuccion when I get there.

I'm here. I didn't even know it was possible, but I think I have varicose veins on my belly! Amongst all the stretch marks. Delightful!

LOL Cally, I thought that too about the ad. That totally sucks about the sleep too. The kids have had 2 days off school this week (Monday because of a funeral of a teacher who'd passed away and today because of the strike) and OMG the sleep in has been so good! I'm still really drained from being sick and I would hate it if I was waking up too early. You've got a lovely bunch of people to work with if they make you a coffee though!

MD, I saw one of those pink etcha-sketches on Tuesday and I thought OMG how cool are they?! I had one as a kid too and they were so cool. The kindle was a real score too! I think she will be fine at little A's. Alister's problem is that he just wouldn't stay there and do what he is supposed to do. He is too familiar with the grounds as it is the footy ground as well so he just wanders all over the place.

I would love to take W to a little A's thing or something similar but there is nothing like that around here. He will have to do all his socializing at kindy and sport will just have to be the bushwalking/fishing outdoors stuff with DH until there is hopefully some sort of teams things he can do at school. He is already majorly tending towards nerdness, we are trying hard to keep him balanced so he doesn't end up withdrawn and socially inept like his mother.

Trill, I think that my A will have the same problem when it is time for her to start kindy - she has been allowed to wander around and do whatever since she was a baby, it will be a shock to the system when she starts and has to sit at the mat and do tidy up time etc. But that is still a while off. I think I will start her at the beginning of Term 3 next year so she has a couple of months with W there before he goes to school.

Arte I bet you're a whole lot nerder in your head than irl. I just know that when we finally meet we will get on like a house on fire, you are much too interesting a person not to. Or there again maybe I'm so socially inept I can't even recognize it when I see it? :rofl:

j will probably be a total nightmare at kinder too. he loves coming along and running amok in the outside area but he's not so good at indoors LOL when we drive past he yells out 'kinder!!!'

well a nice thing has been that my sil has actually been ringing me and asking me some advice about her baby/pg etc. it is nice not to be completely shut out, and I'm going to go over there and check out the nursery and give her some books. its such a fine line though you know, like i don't want to push all my kind of parenting ideas on her iykwim? I'm going to give her a couple of pinky mckay books and start from there i guess.

lots of rain here today, i think i might head down to target and pick up the kids xmas lay-by and stash it in dad's garage. i was also thinking of buying dh one of those dyson slim vacuums for the garage. maybe...

AFM: well, we are all really really unwell. again.
i woke up to find myself vomiting, thankfully i was able to lurch over and have it go on the floorboards as opposed to the bed, but still, i am SO over being sick!!!! And then there are the girls...Leila has temps of 40.6 and Marta has severe diahorrea. i cannot believe it! poor Marta had a really crappy (pardon the pun!) first birthday and I have just made the call to DH that we need to cancel tomorrows party :(. pretty devastated as i had a friend travelling from interstate to attend as she is going to be Ms godmother (we are doing a naming ceremony and hired a celebrant). I have to say that this is one doozy of a cold.

if it makes you feel any better, we have not had a sickness like this before that lasts so long. i am feeling a lot better now but I'm still not 100%. i was throwing up tuesday morning :(

MD, I get along o.k now, but as a child/teen I was a social outcast because I was so introverted. I am forever grateful that my intermediate and high school had an accelerate class so all the non-sporty social inepts were lumped together and we could actually make friends - if I had been left in mainstream I would have had no friends at all.

Baby is due today. I have never made it to the due date before. She will have to wait until Sunday now because we have the party tomorrow.

I have made three mud cakes and all have been fails, so I got DH to pick up a sponge cake and a tub of ice-cream on the way home - will ice the sponge for Amelia and carve the ice-cream into a circle and stick the Toy Story icing on for W. I am going to blame the oven - I used to be able to make really good mud cakes but now they are burning on the outside and sinking uncooked in the middle.

Oh no Cass! :hug: that is awful. The temps/flu/vomiting lurgy seem to be the norm this winter - both E, P and A started off with flu symptoms and then wound up with vomiting as well. I really hope that you are all well again soon :hug:

G, that is great she is starting to involve you. I really hope it all works out with her.

G: i'd buy one too :lol: i had grand plans for the girls but seriously, the way i am feeling now all i want is full nanny, full time cook and a party planner to do it all :rofl:

yeah we went and saw the GP yesterday. he said that is a virus that we just need to ride out...i was hoping for a miracle cure lol. He has put leila on an ice-cream and jelly diet to try and bring her temps down but the poor poppet won't even eat that!

urgh, that would horrify me to hear that about your SIL and her 'big' baby. sheesh, you had good size boys and were a champion birthing woman!

yeah it is really hard. i did say to her last night that if miranda kerr can birth a 10 and a half pounder then anyone can......

i also told her that they predicted J was going to be huge and then after i pushed him out the ob said to me 'aren't you glad you didn't have a c-section now'? as he was only 8lb3oz. she is having a size scan on monday so I'm going to ring her after that and see where her head is at. the thing is, the ob has been telling her since 20 weeks that the baby is huge. how weird?

eta- thanks for supporting me on the cake buying! lol. i might take L to the cake shop next week and lets him choose one :)

Ginger - It really, really sucks how these medical professionals can make the call that the baby is going to be 'huge' and omg book in now for that c section. Especially to a first time mum who being unaware is likely to follow their advice!! Also what happened to you, happened to me. And being a stress head I panicked. I AM SO GLAD that I made the choice to give the natural birth a go. I told myself if it turns out she was big and I was getting nowhere with her, then I would go down for the csection. After all that panic they put me through, she wasnt huge, she was a healthy 8 pound 5 and I managed perfectly!! grrrr, frustrating. On another note that is so good that she is inviting you in to her life and her new bubba. I know how hard family drama can be. I love Miranda Kerr, she is such a good role model, I too often refer back to her breastfeeding when someone gives me hassles (like when I got told not long ago to my face that breastfeeding is gross)....! :wall:

Cass - That is so crappy that you had to cancel. I cant even believe it, its been planned for so long and you had such grand plans too. What a nasty bug it is. Poor girls, I really hope you are all well soon.

Girls I'm a bit sad today. I feel like breastfeeding is coming to an end for us. I have had to wean myself off motilium and it has made me realise that its the main thing that kept my supply decent. I am now very low and I can physically see the difference. E is not a happy chappy about it. I have seen two different dr's and neither think continuing on motilium is a good thing. So I have tried E on various formulas and even soy and cows milk, but no miss diva wants the boob. So my plan is to keep offering her what little I have left - (about 30 seconds worth on each side, its almost laughable) - and maybe see how much further we can get. Before this she has been down to only 3-4 during the day, with a dreamfeed at 10 and an early 4am feed. So, if I can at least offer her a morning and bedtime feed, thats better than nothing right? And during the day, esp as it warms up, I will have to keep trying with a sippy cup. I am more worried about hydration than anything else, as I must add she tucks into food like no tomorrow. Anyway, I think its time to accept that I am not much of a milk maker, I never have been, and if it wasnt for motilium we would not have made it this far.....Sorry for the 'poor me' vent

oh isa, you should be so proud of yourself! you have done so well and fed her for the most important 8 months iykwim? i would keep offering her the boob and just see what happens. but please don't be disappointed in yourself, you have done such a great thing and given her such a great start in life.

i love miranda kerr so much, i think she is just the prettiest little thing in the world and just seems so level headed and real iykwim? and she is a breastfeeding champion too! which is awesome

yes it annoys me that sil has no confidence whatsoever in her birthing abilities, but in the end, theres not much i can do. I've made a few gentle suggestions and will be dropping her some books on sunday but I'm pretty sure her mind is already made up. mainly thanks to a midwife who told her that the recovery from a grade 4 tear is worse than a c-section- whatever that means?

G, this is where it gets hard hey? Even though you probably aren't likely to change her mind on how she births her babe, you can be there for her afterwards if she needs it. If baby isn't the predicted huge monster the ob says it is and she had a surgical birth for nothing, she might struggle with that kwim? I went through the same thing with my SIL and no way would she accept that her Dr was giving her a bum steer, and when it's like that, all you can do is step back and be there if they need it. The bit about the grade 4 tear v a c/s is bull**** too. No way known is major abdominal surgery 'better' than an epi or tear. I respect that she feels she is making informed choices, but I HATE that the system is letting her down.

H, I totally know how you feel about the milk and motillum. That was my only option when I had A - take it or make nothing at all and I thought if I had to artificially sustain my milk with medication that I would have to take long term with no idea of the effects of that I may as well just feed him artificial milk and be done with it. It broke my heart but I did what I had to do. But I am so proud of you for at least making it this far, even if it was helped by using the motillum because you got to experience something pretty wonderful kwim?

Isadora, I hope that E starts taking a bottle soon. You have done so well to make it this far, I know it wasn't an easy thing for you :hug:

Speaking of big babies, a woman in town just had an 11 pound 11 baby boy! She is only a small framed lady too. Soooo not what you want to hear when you are about to drop one out lol

the thing is trill, i don't think its just her ob- i think its actually her as well. she actually chose this ob in the first place because he was pro c-section. which makes me think that she has want done all along and any time it has been brought up she has definitely not shown any opposition to it iykwim? she has already talked herself out of even having a crack at it.

oh Isa :hug: that has got to be tough :( hopefully she will take a sippy cup or bottle soon enough :hug: and yeah, i would go with still offering her boob when you can. the comfort as she transitions might be needed (for both of you!).

Ginger - You are probably right, the big baby thing may be an excuse. She has probably wanted the csection all along. Each to their own, as long as baby arrives safely.

Trill - Thanks for that. It is a hard decision, chances are the motilium wont affect me, but its the unknown that worries me.

So far I am just offering her feeds as normal and she is getting some still, but its slowing down heaps. My last ditch attempt to help my supply is an overdose on fenugreek lol. I am also thinking of ordering some more milk plus from the states.

Isa: mmmm fenugreek tea! can you believe that i actually like the taste of that stuff lol?!

G: not good man, not good. and poor leila...she is just not getting better. me thinks i have to take her back to the GP on monday. this just sucks :(

cass- i would definitely be going to the gp on monday. have they been on Abs at all? or would that do nothing?

isa- have you tried going to a different gp or is it not good for you to keep taking the motilium?

G: we have a script for JIC her cough goes to her chest. but that hasnt happened (thankfully!). the GP was certain that it was a virus and that there wasnt much we could do. but my concern now is just her general strength (or lack of!!). she has lost a couple of kilos and is now only 12kgs!! it's scary to see.

oh no! that is very light, lighter than J. i would be taking her back to the gp on monday definitely.

Arte, ME TOOOOO! Not helped by the fact that I changed schools nine times, either. I still struggle with feeling like an oddball in most social settings. But eventually we found our own kind and flourished. :D

Cass, your poor little chickens. I"m so sorry you had to cancel your party/naming celebration. We postponed E's party one year, can't remember why now, but we shifted it back about 3 times LOL. I think you should definitely go back to the GP for a review and express your concerns re the weight loss. If she's not really improving then it's time for some pathology specimens if that hasn't already been done. xxx

Ginger, that's lovely that your SIL is more communicative on the baby front now. Difficult though when she seems to be headed in such a different direction. My friend at work who is preggy with a similar age gap between her eldest as between my two, and she was telling me how she's going to be so much stricter with routine this time. Isa, will she comfort suck when she's sleepy? Maybe try squeezing some extra sleeptime or wakeup feeds? Make sure you have a good drink, as your bbs keep producing even while they're being drained. BTW do not let yourself feel bad for a minute, you have done an awesome job of getting this far when it wasn't easy. One tip for introducing a sippy cup is to give a little rice milk in it, it tastes sweet like BM does. Don't use a non-spill cup, give it to her anytime she's eating or sitting in the high chair, even it she tips it everywhere she'll eventually get some in her mouth and become interested, kwim?

Trill how are things down on the farm? We were at the Royal Show yesterday, I thought of you when we went past the sheep shed and htey were selling them and I[m pretty sure the auctioneer said "three thousand...." and I wondered if I'd heard it wrong or if that was a good price.

So yeah, show day yesterday and we had a BALL (and spent a fortune too LOL). After an early false start on a little kids train ride, it turns out Missy E is quite the thrill-seeker! There's a patch of toned-down family rides and she loved every single one, starting with the family "roller coaster" that H was too scared to go on PMSL. Excellent day, finally saw the pig diving, and took in more of the agricultural stuff. E was interested in everything. Anyway we're all pooped today, unfortunately DH had to work today so I got to drag cranky overtired child around the shops with me. It was for birthday things so I couldn't abandon!

Cass, I hope the girls (and you) wake up feeling better today. Sounds really rough, you guys have had a terrible run this year. Are you going to be following winter around next year?

Birthday party was great! In the end 7 kids turned up so 9 altogether which was a good number. I got the amount of food about right, leftovers but not too many iykwim. I thoroughly recommend the ice-cream cake - it took about 3 minutes to shape a tub of ice-cream into a circle and stick a printed icing on it and the kids were sooo impressed! The kids were so well behaved and had a fantastic time :)

And best of all - both kids slept through last night!! The whole night! Both of them!!

Arte I think it needs to be a party day everyday then ROFL! I'm glad he had a great day and the party went off without a hitch! I reckon you will have this baby tomorrow now ;)

MD, Happy birthday to Miss E!!!! So do you have anything planned for her today? The auction you heard for sheep would have been a ram sale and $3000 would be a fair price for a lot of the top range stud rams.

Well we have a new 'baby' in the house. DH found an abandoned feral kitten in the old ute this morning and he duly brought it home. It has it's eyes open but we have no real idea how old it is. It is so tiny! The kids are super excited, I'm *meh* about it. I can't stand cats and here I am kangaroo caring for a kitten to keep it warm :rolleyes: So we've been trying to syringe feed it lambs milk but it's not overly keen on it. We've tentatively called it Chewy because I joked that it will become a chew toy for the dog LOL. I have no idea if it will live or not but I've told the kids to try not to get too attached to it.

Trill, I am excited about your kitten lol. Although kittens that are hand raised tend to be a bit...different. My aunt hand raised a cat and it had a terrible habit of humping all the pillows in the house lol.

Have just made the decision to dump my uni paper and repeat next year. I am too far behind to realistically catch up. Am trying to draft an email to withdraw, failure sucks!
