ok, sorry for the double post...something weird was happening and i wasnt able to type....weird computer glitch...hopefully MDs malware hasnt come for a vist :rofl:
ANYWAY, so yeah, cracked it lol. thankfully i got some respite with my cousin as DH took all three kids home so we could have some retail therapy. H&M is now my favourite place lol. cheap clothes that i can use for maternity wear as it is all stretchy material etc. so after that i feel a bit better :lol:

OMG Cass I was a total nervous nellie about turning the computer on again after I'd had THREE ROUNDS with the malware! But no, all gone now. I'm glad for you that your time there is drawing to a close, even though you've had a few adventures and made the most of it, what really counts is that connection. Bit how I felt leaving Canberra, actually.

Arte - happy home warming! I hope you're settling in nicely, it must be such a novelty to be so close to town again. Even though I know how hokey 'town' is. :) What's the decor like in your new house? Does it have curtains etc or do you need to bring/sew/purchase new ones? Did you get the scones sorted out? BTW I'm very impressed with your wifi "stealing"! Having no internet is like missing a limb these days. Do don't notice you have it normally but you sure feel it when its gone.
AFM I'm putting off my trip to Sydney by a day, in the end I didn't want to fork over $400 for a single night's accomm (I had assumed they would give me the conference rate, but no).
MD, bummer about putting off the trip for a day. Settling in well. Actually, really loving it. A causal 100m stroll to kindy is soooo much more relaxed than packing everyone into the car and driving. The house is...80's modern. So tidy, but a bit dated. Still looks pretty good though and better than anything we have lived in before :) Plus there is a full mountain view out the kitchen window (above someones house though)
Cass, hope you get a good nap in somewhere. I remember being very tired when pg with Erin. Just that total body exhaustion when you can't be bothered moving. How is the morning sickness now?

He was obviously pretty young then and clearly a bit of an ugly duckling...

Totally bring on the FB question. I'm currently reeling in a state of FB shock after setting DD1 up on it tonight, and seeing some of the stuff that some of the other little darlings are posting. Unclassy all right. I think my oldest baby's going to get a bit of an education, if you know what i mean... :o Anyhoo I think I might have to talk her through the whole close friends vs acquaintances features sooner rather than later.

A good chat with DD1 is a brilliant idea. i am in the midst of a program developing training policies and best practice for those working with children and young people regarding online sexual exploitation. always a good idea to empower your own children to be active and in charge of their online behaviour and information!
Arte: mountain views?? now that does sound idyllic! how are the kids settling in? are they loving the lack of car trips to kindy?

AFM: all going well here. Got to see our little poppet and they did the 3d scan thing, which totally freaked me out. i am so not sure about those things...
we have been having a wonderful time with our family from Chile. so amazing to meet someone that i feel is like a sister! we are so similar in mannerisms etc. totally spooky. Unfortunately they fly out on Sunday at lunchtime :( Miss L has just had a ball with my (2nd) cousin's 11 year old. they tell fart jokes relentlessly :rolleyes:
Cass, hope you had a super cool birthday! Your scan pic looked cool, but yeah, those scans freak me out a bit lol. Family similarity is odd isn't it - my father and I have similar humor and mannerisms, despite me not meeting him until I was 23.
I think the kids are liking the stroll to kindy - I know I am :) W always wanted to ride his bike to kindy and now he does, it feels like a much healthier lifestyle itms.
G, don't worry if you have no kid stuff to talk about, just pop in to see us!
MD, still totally unprepared for the whole kids on the net thing. I like to tell myself it is still years away...
We had some professional pics taken today of the family (one of those deals when the first pic is $10, fundraising for kindy). It was going well until Erin cruised along to the end of her prop and apparently forgot she can't walk and let go - face plant :( But apart from that it was great - hoping we will get a really nice shot of all of us.
...and a face plant shot would also be awesome lol.
That is one thing that Miss L is really looking foward to: being able to ride her bike to school next year. Of course, it will mean that I will actually have to buy her a bike :rofl:

G i know what you mean, i also sometimes feel like i dont have much to add - re the boys who are so grown up or about my life in general which is moving in a different direction itms. then i think, hang on friends are friends and we should share whatever is going on... then the speed of life takes over again and it is a week since i read or posted. i do love when there are lots of things for me to catch up on though, so once again here is my commitment to keep up LOL!
Arte - i dont know if i wrote after the fire - i meant to but i dont think i did (i am so sorry). that must have been so scary and i was so amazed how calmly you dealt with it all. i am so pleased you are loving the new house and i know what you mean re the healthier lifestyle - N has just statted aukick and the weekends being taken up with such 'wholesome' fun and activity feels great. how is w behaviour wise these days?
i also started a new 'tradition' last night - try something new night! it w as a success. i felt as though the bosy diet had become a lot more rigid and narrow (esp as someone else ofetn does their dinner which i leave for them) and i wanted them to keep exploring diff foods (plus i want to try new recipes) so i have started a new thing where one weeknd day (usually sunday) we sit with a recipe book (not always my style but works for this) and they pick a recipe for us to try for dinnetr - if it is a hit i will add to the usual repertiore... as a bonus they have negotiated that we rry a new dessert too (J is one mean negotiator) and then we all eat togther at the dining room table around 530. last night was a meditterean fish stew with couscous whcih was a huge hit! and choc self saucing pudding. they loved it. thought i would put it out there as its lots of fun adn they loved picking the food and helping me.
Cass - your bday sounds amazing! and great you had so much fun with your rellies.
Sherie - ouchies on the tooth. what is the issue with A speech? i have noticed N still has some sounds he says incorrectly, will get it checked if not resolved before he is 5. (though its rather cute, just one or 2 sounds). i wonder if it is related to his muscle tone issues actually.
AFM i am reeling a little at the moment as it appears N may need glases. i am totally shocked as there i sno family history at all. took him on sat expectingt o be told there is no issue and he seems to be very long sighted. poor little guy cant see much close up at all (explians lack of tv interest etc). its lucky he is so bright and perseveres so much. anyway going abck on sat for some more testing and then to a specialist and then we will know what to do. must admity i was so shocked, but now i am just glad we are dealing with it and i also feel so sad for him with what he has been missing out on. am glad we can get onto it soon, before it affects his reading etc and enjoyment at school. soooooo i would strongly advise everyone to do the pre school eye testing... (its a never ending story!). we picked this up as he leans in v close to draw/write but i can imagine it could go un noticed too.
Belated Birthday wishes to Cass! I'm so sorry that I missed your big day :hug: But it sounds like it was a fabulous day.
MD that's a bit of a worry about DD1. I watched a thing on telly ages ago now and they seem to think that the use of social media as a part of becomming sexually aware etc is the *norm* now :( Such a different world to the one we all grew up in and some of us aren't even that old kwim? Its like the rules have changed overnight.
Hey MP! Don't feel bad about the glasses - like you said there is no family history of it so it wouldn't have been something you'd have ben aware of as a possibility. L is extremely long sighted too and the glasses were the best thing for him! The only sign we had of L having problems was a lazy left eye, he never had to put things right up close of anything so there was a bit of guilt there for a while but you get over it pretty quick when you realise that glasses aren't the end of the world kwim? Plus, L can play footy and do a lot of fine motor things so it's certainly not held him back at all. THe issues with A's speech are just not articulating a few sounds. Some of it is still age appropriate, but the ones we're working on atm aren't. But he's mastered the sounds pretty quick and he's constantly practising which is good. I love the idea of trying a new meal like that. I try to do it, but it just never eventuates.
Tooth is good - on Friday and Saturday though I couldn't put any pressure on it at all which was weird, but yesterday it was fine again. DH is OK with it - we shouldn't be too much out of pocket which is good.
thanks Trill. its breaking my heart a bit for all sorts of reasons... but i know it will all be ok (i dont feel guilt as such, it is more shock, sadness etc)
MP, some of the best of us wear glasses lol. I can imagine how it feels though. I am pretty sure at least one of mine will need glasses. W passed his before school check easily, but my vision went bung around age 8 so I will definitely make sure they have regular visits to the optometrist.

MP, the kids glasses are so funky these days. I've gotten some great ones for L over the years and they are super stylish - the way they make lenses these days mean no 'kevvy coke-bottles' :lol: It's at the point now where L actually looks weird when he's not wearing them.
Mp - I've filled in all the forms for the eye screening so K will be doing that shortly. Forgot to mention her light sensitivity though, will bring it up when the tests happen. I know how you feel, that's kind of like how I felt when I heard about K's hearing loss. And agree with the funky kids glasses, I was looking at them recently when I got my new ones and there are some pretty cool ones compared to what I remember kids with glasses having when I was younger. Great idea on the new meal, I get the Good Taste magazine each month so we're often trying new things (some not a success, but others are definite winners). Love J negotiating for dessert as well, Miss K would have been right into that too!
K is doing really well with her speech. She was trying to say a 'st' word this morning, but it was coming out as 'sh'. She was picking up on it though, and stamping her foot each time before she finally got it out right - glad that she can hear it properly now and can't believe that a week ago she couldn't do 'sh' properly and now it's coming out automatically!
Arte - yay for riding bikes to school! K will be able to do that next year, although it's almost so close it's not worth it for us!

In some ways I am glad that DH is a high school teacher so will be a bit more upto date on teenager's thinking when we start going through all of that sex stuff!
Not much else happening here. DH is away for a Principal's meeting next week so we'll have a girls night. Oh and DD has a massive crush on my gym instructor - he is in Year 12 and she just lies on the floor and gazes at him while we are doing Step. We saw him out for dinner one night and when I asked her what the best bit of her day was 'seeing Tyler at the restaurant'.
Cally that is so cute! I filled in the preschool eye forms ages ago too but I can't remember when they were actually doing it.

Thanks for the words re the eye - I know it is all ok, it is more just a shock. Arte - I didn't mean anything re ppl wearing glasses or even him wearing them really (and I hope my post didn't offend you...) - I just meant I was processing what this means for him, his ability, his learning, socialization etc. And now that I have read more and even trills comments re l I am a lot more comfortable that he will adapt. I Am a but upset, but that is more about it being an issues and him missing things up til now more than anything else. Anyway - thanks all for your never failing support.
MP, the thing is that Mr N doesnt know any different ITMS. he doesnt feel that he has missed out, for him that is the way the world looks and his brain adapts to that ITMS. I say this from my perspective where i have worn glasses from 12 months of age and only recently was told that i have monovision lol (i have always known about the long sightedness)! i had no idea that my crap ball skills were actually depth perception issues due to my dodgy eyes hahahaha (and i could never work out the big deal about 3D movies :rofl: i kid you not :lol:).

right so my fb question is, how do you feel about people that you haven't spoken to for 16 years or so seeking you out and friending you? see, idk, i think its kinda weird. i think if we haven't spoken fore that long then we should probably let it go. do you think its weird for me to feel like this? I'm a bit thrown by a girl who i used to be friends with in primary school- and then sort of friends with in high school finding me on there. she says that she's always wondered about me and stuff like that.
