No major school holiday plans here - I guess my kids will have had enough excitement before holidays start! They are doing a few sports days and school hol program and spending time with us and grandparents. Theyll be really sick of each other by the end!
All good here. Celebrating noahs bday tOday as it's a fast day on his bday. Went to the zoo and out for dinner tonight.
Couple more days then we head home.!

Happy Birthday to Miss K and Master N!
Cass, how are the open homes going? Lots of people through?
-
hello lovelies!
it is chaos here as per usual. i am totally over it. we *just* forgot to pick up Miss L from school :o i had no idea that it was an early pick up today (they send the newsletters to DHs email instead of mine...'cause that's gonna work lol). so luckily he is home today and is literally sprinting down the road to get her. poor thing i feel terrible as there is nothing worse than waiting for a parent that is not showing up :( (i have BTDT with my own mum more times than i can count).
the inspections are going quite well. i would, of course, prefer loads more people and for those people to start punching eachother up in the hallway during inspections in mad dash to offer more than the other for our Casa del Awesome hahahaha. cannot believe that THIS saturday it goes to auction. someone better bid, and they better bid big hahahahaha. our RE reckons we have it in the bag for at least low 700s...better as at that price in this area that is a bit of a bargain. i would want/expect the mid 700s (just going by what the other places in the street have gone for in the last month).
Can you believe all these big 6 years olds?! amazing man. cannot believe it. i especially have a brain bursting moment when i catch up via FB with my mums group from canberra and see just how big those kids are now. i remember them basically all as newborns (we left the 'bra when miss L was 3 months old). it's mindblowing.
cannot believe that we forgot to pick up Miss L...*goes off in a pile of shame and guilt*
-
Cass, I also recall a sizeable proportion of my adolescence spent sitting places waiting for mum to pick me up. Back in the days before cell phones, so I couldn't go anywhere in case she arrived while I was gone lol. I *always* had a book with me! I bet teens of today don't have to sit around waiting.
I hope you have a very exciting auction with lots of bidders :)
How is E going with the seizures now?
I am sick again! W was sick yesterday, the girls have snotty noses. I have dosed up on cold and flu pills in an attempt to make it to quiz night tonight lol.
-
We had dinner out last night for the end of skiing break up. Several of the people commented to us on how gorgeous W is, a sweetheart, lovely etc. We know he is a neat kid, but it is nice to have other people saying it :) He is doing so well now.
BTW Cass, I should have said last post, but when kindy finishes early for some reason there are always a heap of parents that forget. We all get into our little routines and anomalies like that just don't sink in. Last early finish I only remembered because I overheard some people talking when I was walking out the door at drop off, and I had to bring my friend's son home with us because she forgot lol. So don't feel bad, it happens to the best of us xx
-
haha, you are so right Arte...when DH went to pick her up there were 15 other kids waiting at the office as well
did you make it to trivia?? I had to dose up on painkillers the other night for my dinner out as i had pulled my shoulder and had a ripper headache. nothing was getting in the way of my once a month outing lol.
-
Yep, made it to quiz night. I'd have to be half dead not to make it there.
How are you going with the sleep issues? I have no advice since I have lived it three times now and never managed to solve it. Eventually they do outgrow it if that is any help
-
What are these early finishes? I don't think we have them here.
Birthday went well, been crazy at work trying to be 3 people, will try and catch up again soon.
-
Cally, we rarely have early finishes, but they are usually when staff have to attend a course or something. Glad the birthday went well. Hope you aren't too stressed being three people!
Very bummed today - one of the kindy teachers is leaving at the end of term :( She is the most awesome kindy teacher ever and I have spent a lot of time just spinning yarns with her. She was so fantastic with W and now with A. I was hoping she would be around for E as well (if we don't move). But she has to do what is best for her I guess, I will miss her advice and friendship though. On the bright side, she is staying local and lives 100m down the road from me so I will still see her lol. I cried a bit this morning when I found out. I wish I could hold it in and wasn't such a public crier!
Just had a really busy weekend with my father, stepmother and nephew over from Aust. Went well, but I have a huge assignment due tomorrow and now I am really hoping E has a nap so I can finish it! I did about an hour of referencing over the weekend and my computer ate it!! Not happy!
-
Hi Arte - thats such a shame that she is leaving kindy but great you can still be in touch. never feel bad you show your emotions - a great quality imo
Cass - congrats to you on the house sale WOOOO HOOO. what adventures ahead of you!
as for me, well.. we have decided not to move to vietnam. its been a bit of a journey to get to this conclusion but it feels great. i feel privileged that we had this amazing opp and it allowed us to think through all we have and we decided we like life here too much! lucky us! one of the projects i was going to do there was my blog/facebook and to end with the long talked about family cook book. so i decided to start it all anyway! you can check it out on facebook or wordpress (its called cooking with one hand) if you havent already foiund me on facebook. its really fun and i am enjoying it - already have nearly 100 followers and i am aiming high.... exciting and fun project for me!
-
MP, glad you made a choice you are happy with about Vietnam. It is nice to be able to look around and see that you have it best right where you are.
-
oh wow MP! what a whirlwind you guys have been going through! Bummer about no vietnam...i was going to live vicariously through you with teh culinary adventure hahahaha.
i'll have to start following you :D
Arte: that is a massive bummer about the kindy teacher. i remember when Miss L had a great one and they didnt renew her contract as she had been there long enough that they would of had to offer her a permanent contract and they didnt want to. she was sooo fantastic.
sleep? what's that??!
AFM: experiencing severe sellers remorse and have been having loads of teary nights lol. i suck man lol. we escaped the day after sale to the bush and did some serious camping away from it all. was so lovely. just back now and i am so smelly and gross (there are no facilities...you even bring your own water and firewood etc). the kids had a real blast! just so amazing to see them run off into the bush in a large pack of kids (we were there with 5 other families).
-
Cass, once you get where you are going and settle in, you will be fine. Is it the actual house, or the change in life that the sale of it signifies? The camping sounds fun. It is a good idea going with other families - the last few times we have been it has been hard work to entertain the kids.
I am having a slight resistance to change myself atm - we are up in the air with what we are doing and then with kindy teacher leaving it is like the beginning of the end itms, those days are all being relegated to memory. I guess as much as I want to hold on to what we have here, life is going to change it all out from under me anyway.
-
Hello my darlinks!
MP - you sound like you had a magic time away - sorry the Vietnam thing didn't go ahead, but I love that it's because you love your life as it is already! That's fantastic, you're obviously doing a lot right. :) PS I think your blog's a great idea! I've added it to my feedreader.
Cass - congrats on the house sale! I know it will be hard to leave and that a home is a living thing, but I also know that it's your family that breathes life into it.
Arte - I'm glad you manage to struggle out to quiz night come rain hail or snotty noses LOL. It's great to hear W is really thriving - I can't believe what a ski/wall climbing champ he is! Pity the teacher is leaving - but you know the saying - change is the only constant. x
Cally - the early finish is when all the kids go home at lunch time and the teachers head down to the pub LOL. Well, that's what I suspect, anyway. Not sure why, but they're every term here.
School hols are just starting here, DH got home this week and not a second too early, either. Nothing exciting happening here for the hols, but it will be nice to have some time at home together. We all got a bit ratty and tired towards the end of the term so it will be good for everyone to recharge.
-
MD, glad your DH is home again. We have no particular plans for holidays either, but I am hoping to get to hometown for a couple of days and BIL might be dropping by on the way back from Canada so that will be entertainment. The kids will be all over him like a rash lol.
-
Enjoy your hometown trip, Arte! I'm guessing BIL is the glacier-helicopter flying BIL and not the other one? Have fun.
Well it's only day 2 of the holidays and I'm not even on holidays yet and the people who live at my house are already driving me nuts. Miss E has developed a habit of bellowing every time she talks, and she constantly drums the cup song on any and every surface (thank DD1 one for that). In the meantime, DD1 is onto "cleaning her room" Day Four :o with all the attendant stress. I might kick DH out tomorrow morning so I can get ready for work in P&Q. LOL.
-
Hope everyone is surviving holidays.
I am going to take a BB break for a while. This group has been a saviour to me at times and I want to thank you all for the support and care you have given over the years. It has meant a lot.
Take care of yourselves and all those lovely children.
Love Arte.
-
oh no :( hopefully not too long a break hey?! i was thinking of you last night and had a giggle as i was up with miss m for about an hour at 12.30...you and me babe...we dont make sleepers
MD: oohhh sounds like it could be a looonggg first week of the holidays lol! ours are almost finished - for us they just flew by...what with selling house, camping and interstate guests...just went lightspeed (ok, that sounds like it is rubbing it in hahaha...so not my intention!).
can you believe that our little preppys are almost through their first year!!!! amazing man...cannot believe it!
