Geez Dr T, I hadn't read the full story of your DH's finance situation before! That's just terrible about your MIL. I'm gobsmacked! Has she put the builder she worked for in dire straits too?? And poor DH having to work so many hours. But good work you for all the stuff you're teaching him, and him for taking it in! Well it definitely sounds like you've thought through all possibilities given your situation. And when it all comes down to it, you're B's awesome mummy and he's going to love you whatever happens!

I wonder if everyone else's babies get wiggly at the same time as ours? I wish it was a growth spurt but he's been doing the same thing for so long now I gave that hope up! Hopefully B will settle back down for you though.

AFU - We think T's tooth has broken through on one edge because it's very sharp! Dr T, I must have written something about feeling the bulge on the top of his gum but what I meant was the top of his bottom gum (if that makes sense?). It's the right bottom front tooth to be precise! I tried to take a photo but even on macro it was really blurry. Gah, I can't upload it on bellybelly anyway and I can't seem to sign up for photobucket. Grr.

I don't think I've ever actually said anything about DH's financial situation before...not really one of those things you talk about IYKWIM. That was the really shortened version of it, the whole thing was just twisted...much like any other story that involves MIL and SIL. (still shortened version but a bit more info) DH was basically on the verge of being put in jail because of it and he was completely oblivious to it all. The tax office kept sending him stuff, but he couldn't read could he. He'd give it to his mum so she could tell him what was going on and she'd just feed him a bunch of bull. It was sheer coincidence that I found out about it. He got really mad at his mum one day and came around to visit me. Had his mail in his ute still. He got me to read his mail for him and it just happened that one of them was from the tax office (really, what were the odds that he'd get one from them on that particular day??!!). It was a really threatening FINAL NOTICE one with his outstanding amount the due date (as if he could have paid that much by that date) and the amount of jail time he'd need to do if he didn't get it paid by that day. He thought I was joking...of course this was the first he knew of it poor bugger. Up till them his mother kept telling him a bunch of BS, which is just sickening :angry: she was prepared to let him go to jail instead of taking 'her money' (yes, she viewed all DH's money he made has hers) to pay his taxes :o :o :o

We both took the next day off work and spent the entire day at the tax office trying to get things sorted for him. Ended that he obviously still has to pay the money back, but no more interest was incurred from the date we saw them provided that he makes his payment every fortnight. But it is/was a huge bill and will take years to pay. Has given us lots of hassles since finance wise...everything basically has to be in my name only because his credit rating will be horrid till the debt is paid, despite the fact that he makes HEAPS more then I do. But you can't really explain it wasn't is fault because no one would believe the truth ITMS.

As soon as we got that sorted and got home DH asked me to give him his first reading lesson...he had obviously learned his mother couldn't be trusted. And I got to read all the mail for him after that until he was able to read it himself. He also put me in charge of his finances and ALL his money. Which caused HUGE fights between him and his mother and his mother and me. She viewed it all as hers and in her mind I was stealing from her when in reality I was just putting it in a savings account for him and giving him what he needed to pay bills plus have some pocket money. Would you beleive despite the fact he was the one who made all the money he never had an allowance (of his own money??!! :wtf: ) She took it all and he basically had nothing??!!

He read his first 'proper adult book' (an investment book) just before B was born. Needed a bit of help from time to time and took him AGES (not that I'd ever say that to him :lol: ) but I was very proud of him and he was really stoked as well. He every now and then will sit down and read to B and I occasionally catch him telling him that B needs to be smart like mummy and learn to read and write so he doesn't end up in messes like daddy did (that one breaks my heart).

All I can say Dr T is OMG what a crazy woman that MIL of yours is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe you haven't thrown her off a cliff!

The thought has crossed my mind more then once :D

I bumped into the ex at the christmas street party and he met his daughter for the first time :-/ ... He was in the area visiting mates so if it wasn't for me taking the kids to see fireworks, he wouldnt of bothered seeing them :( Aiden wouldn't go near him and Ayva cryed.

Dr T, that absolutely breaks my heart just reading about it, I can't imagine how it would make you feel!!

The more I hear about your MIL and SIL, the more glad I am that your DH found you and has been lead into a better life. You are a blessing to him Dr T. :hug:

How has this week been at work?? Been thinking of you hun.

Emma - we're having lots of wake ups atm too. The Child health nurse has advised me to feed as much as I can during the day and start cutting back the night feeds. Easier said than done... so it looks like I'm going to be night weaning. Part of me is happy about this - might actually get some decent sleep.

Don't forget what they say - sleep promotes sleep! So if T has good day sleeps, maybe his nights will start to improve! How's the teething situation going?

WRT wriggly babies - OMG you guys are not alone, X will not sit still anymore! He wants to be up and doing something, anything!! He watches my DD whenever she comes near him and is always trying to grab her, get her, get up and go with her... won't be long I think. He's getting onto his tummy and pushing with his legs and arms but isn't pushing UP yet. So he doesn't go anywhere that way... but he loves to roll around everywhere and just wiggle around.

Still no teeth.

Had our 6mth weigh-in yesterday -he's up to 8.44kg, which is the 75th percentile, but his height is 76.5cm, which is still around the top of the chart -100th percentile! He's a string bean! No wonder I am struggling with the size zero grow suits!

M2A - can't believe your ex was not even going to call you up to see the kids. All I can say is it sounds like you are better off without him hun! Bit sad about Aiden not wanting to see him...

AFU. Hoping the creek at the back of our property doesn't flood too much with the peaking of the Brisbane River in the morning. In the 1974 the water was 20cm at the lowest point of our property. The floor of our house is a good metre above that, more like 1.5m, so we are fairly sure it should be okay if the river doesn't get too much higher than the 1974 level. It's really scary though and DH has set an alarm for the middle of the night to check on the floodway down the road. I'm sure I'm going to have nightmares tonight...

Oh gosh Emma - I didn't realize you were near an impacted area!!! How's everything this morning? Hope you, DH and T are ok hun!

OP - That must be so cute to watch X and your DD interact like that! I know B gets really excited about the dogs and smiles and giggles when they come over and smell him and lick him and he is constantly scooting to and over them. That's cute, but it woudl be so much different to watch him interact with a sibling.

WOW X is long :o Every time you say how long he is I'm amased! B is only just slight above the 50th percentile at 68cm and people are always commenting on how long he is and X so SO MUCH longer.

Work was a bit easier this week, thanks for asking. Tuesday was good as he willingly went with one of the carers. He was the same yesterday morning, but when I went to feed him for lunch he got upset when I left. Then last night he was super clingy again and he didn't sleep well at all last night and I am thinking he's sick again, but I'll get into that more later.

M2A - :hello: so good to see you again. Ayva is trying to stand! :o Sounds like it will only be a matter of time before she's running around and getting into mischief...hehehe

That's so sad about their father not even trying to see them and only bumping into him accidentally. Would have been hard to see Aiden not wanting to go near him as I think I remember you saying that Aiden really liked him. But I guess it's only to be expected that Ayva cried since she's never seen him before. I'm with OP definitely sounds like you are better off without him :hug:

AFU - I'll start with B and my boohoo section. I'm pretty sure he's sick again...yeah daycare (that was said VERY sarcastically). Like I said a bit earlier he was really clingy yesterday afternoon and didn't sleep well at all last night as in he was waking up about every 45 minutes. Then this morning he vomited. Not just a spit up like he usually does, he was heaving before and full on projectile vomited, poor baby. I also hope I am being really paranoid but I think he might possibly have chickenpox :o He's got a couple little bumps/sores/blisters on him that look very suspicious and I remember seeing a note on one of the older children daycare doors that a child had been diagnosed with chickenpox a few weeks ago. So I really hope I am being a hypocondriac on B's behalf. Especially since DH hasn't had chickenpox yet. I have, but it could be a disaster if B has them and DH catches them. So obviously I'm not at work today and I have a doctors appointmet for B today at 3.

Now my WOOHOO....I figure I deserve one after my last two weeks. I weighed myself last night and I've lost 28 kilos since B was born :leap: I am so stoked. I don't think I actually mentioned it when I was pregnant that despite the fact I only gained about 5 kilos up until 32 weeks at about 33ish or so weeks I gained close on 20 kilos over night :o (I know...crazy...) stupid fluid retention. Anway, I now weigh less then I did before I got pregnant....by about 5 kilos! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!! I am/was a bit overweight and had wanted to get my weight down some so I am really stoked about that! YEAH ME

Luckily the river didn't get as high as it did in the 74 floods and it hasn't rained much the last couple of days so the creek didn't rise at all. Such a relief! But there are so many people whose houses were completely flooded, it's incredible. I hope people who are actually in need get as many offers of help if as we did.

Dr T - great work on the weight loss! Fingers crossed B doesn't have chickenpox and your DH doesn't catch it if he does. Did you know there is a booster for that? I had it before I got pregnant with T because I hadn't had it as a kid.

BTW OP, hope settlement goes smoothly!

OP - Don't know how I forgot to mention about your settlement today in your last post. I hope it all went well!

Emma - I keep trying to tell DH he needs to get the booster for it, but he doesn't :shakehead: I think I am just going to have to book him in myself. I had them when I was in second grade, so I'm good.

So glad to hear that they water didn't affect you. It's been really horrible watching all the devestation on the TV. I'm going to be donating some of my annual leave days, work has organised it so you can give up some of your annual leave and they will make the equivalent monitary contribution on your behalf, so I am look at giving up about a week of my annual leave.

AFU - The good news is that B didn't have chickenpox :dance: The bad news is that he's apparently allergic to something. No clue what though. I'd not introduced a new food to him in about five days, so I can rule that out. Unfortunately, that makes it much harder as the food would have been the easy thing. Now I have to try and figure out what he was exposed to in the past few days that he's not been exposed to before, and given that he'd been at daycare for two days this week that could be just about anything :doh: At least he seems to be feeling better and he's stopped vomiting...YEAH!

Dr T - hoorah for B not having cpox! Make sure yourDH gets that booster! Hope you figure out the allergy. :( Your plan to donate a week of leave is amazingly generous! We waited to make sure we weren't going to flood ourselves before we donated.

I wish I could be helping with the clean up at the moment but I have one hand out of action. I've had this sore wrist for about a week now and it's just getting worse. Will go to GP tomorrow hopefully. Think I did it when holding T in my right arm and trying to carry something awkward &/or heavy in my left. Now I can't even lift a dinner plate with my left hand. And every time I wake up overnight it's completely stiff and painful to move and I feel a weird crunch when I do. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Or am I just a weakling? :(

OP - How's the night time situation going? It might not have been long enough since you wrote about it, but have you been able to load X up on more food in the day time? If so, what's your approach? Offer him the boob more frequently? Give him more solids? I'm just in awe at how big your boy is.

AFU - T's second tooth is bulging at the surface now. The first one feels so weird when he bites on my hand now! Can't believe how sharp it is. T has really got the commando crawl going now. The blister on his right foot has finally had a chance to heal since he's stopped pushing himself along the ground with one foot!

I'm a bit worried it's taken so long for T to reach 7kg and he doesn't seem to have grown in height in weeks, maybe even a couple of months. He still looks healthy though. Unless people are just saying that. Anyway, I've started wondering if he's going to be a midget. I believe that's what small people who are normally proportioned are called. But maybe babies stay the same height for ages then go through a growth spurt? If that's how it works, the curves they show you are very misleading.

I hope you don't mind me joining you in this thread, I know it's rather late in the game! I've been posting on BB since I was TTC and usually post in another thread but thought it would be nice to chat with others who have a little one the same age as DS.

A little about us: DH and I conceived DS with ICSI/IVF and our little monster was born 9 days late on 7 July last year. The first three weeks he was a perfect angel, and then reflux hit... We had a stay in a mother/baby unit because he was such a shocking feeder/sleeper and finally we went onto meds that worked and he was much happier, although still not a great sleeper (as in he would only ever have his day sleeps in my arms, pretty much on the boob). After seeing an osteo his day sleeps have much improved though we're still struggling to get him to sleep in his own cot and not in our bed... Other than that he's a happy little six month old, he has two teeth (hell on earth when they cut!!), can sit up by himself, loves solids and his sippy cut, and roll around everywhere but he's nowhere near crawling yet! I'm still at home with him and am about to extend my mat leave for a few more months because I can't bear to put him into care just yet and to be honest I don't think we'll get a place anyway which suits me just fine ;)

Anyway, apologies for the long me post, and again, hope you don't mind the intrusion. I look forward to getting to know everyone :)

Sounds like you had a rough go of it to start with the whole reflux and feeding/sleeping issues. Have you thought about taking your little man to see a Chiropractor as well? I've been told that sometimes their spine can get a bit stuffed up during labour, particularly if you've had a long one or had some issues. Mine was both long and B had to be delivered with the help of a vaccuum cap. He was about 4 days old when he had his first Chiropractor appointment and it helped heaps with latching issues I had been having…as in he'd refuse to latch on one side.
I envy you the fact you were able to extend your maternity leave. I just started back to work three days a week. This is my third week and leaving my boy at daycare is probably the hardest thing I've ever done. Add to that the fact that the last two weeks he's been there he's caught something and I am really wishing I didn't have to go back.
Emma - I've made an appiontment for DH later this week to get his booster. So :crossfingers: I can actually get him to keep it. He's a shocker when it comes to going to the doctor. He's always worried about taking time off work and it costing too much (we go to one that doesn't bulk bill) and wasting the doctors time etc… Not sure it that's just a typical male thing or if that's another thing I can blame on his mother.
I've done something similar to that to my wrist one, so you're not a weakling. At least I don't think you are. I think it ended up that I'd sprained it or streatched the ligaments or something like that. They gave me a wrist brace that I had to wear for AGES. It's this thing with a hard metal brace that starts partway up your forearm and comes down over your palm. Keeps you from bending your wrist. I had to wear it all the time for about a month and then put it on anytime I'd be using my wrist (which was pretty much all the time) for about another 5 months from memory.
Wow two teeth now huh? How's he going with the whole teething thing? Has it seemed to affect him much or is he pretty much still going same same? Also try not to worry too much about T growing. I have a friend who's son is exactly 2 months older then B and is only about 7.5kg and 65cm. Remember that those growth curves are made up of averages which mean they include babies who grow much quicker and much slower (heavier and longer). I'd take the fact that he's commando crawling like a champ and that he's getting his teeth as a good sign that he's healthy. But if you're really concerened about it ask the doctor when you go to get him his 6 month shots (they should be coming up for him soon).
Sal - thanks for that thought about the baby wipes. We hardly use them at home and when we do we use the naturns own (think that's what their called) brand, but I do know that he's allergic to the johnsons and johnsons ones, so I might have to query the daycare and see what they are doing wipe wise. I guess I didn't really think about that because they use his washables for me. Although in hindsight what using washables has to do with them using (or not) baby wipes is beyond me :doh:

AFU - B crawled for the first time last night. As in a 'proper' crawl. He's been alternating between doing the one footed scoot and the commando crawl for ages now as you'd know and he's been getting up on all fours and rocking for ages too. BUT….yesterday I was sitting on the floor playing with him and he got up and was rocking on all fours then took 4 'steps'. Not really sure what you'd actually call it, but he moved both alternating hands and knees and kept his chest off the ground for 4 'steps'. Then I think he thought 'stuff this I'm going too slow' and dropped back down and commandoed the rest of the way to me. For the rest of the night though he'd get up and rock and take a few 'steps' (no more then 4) before he'd commando the rest of the way to wherever he was going.
AND…just in case that wasn't trouble enough :lol: he started trying to pull himself up on our bed using the bedspread and I caught him trying to pull himself upright on the cot bars when he woke up from his nap as well. He's been mountain climbing over the dogs for ages, using them to pull himself over them, but this was different. It really did seem like he was trying to pull himself upright.

Dr Tal - wow for B, he sounds like my DD at that age, she crawled at 6.5 months and was pulling herself up on the furniture at the same time.
As for the floods well we are close to it but shouldnt be directly affected in saying that though our town has flooded before so anything is possible at the moment.

Dr T - I hadn't realized B wasn't crawling properly, think I was confused by something you wrote about your FIL saying he was? Anyway, go B!

Was your wrist problem before B was born? I went to the GP yesterday and he said I have DeQuervain's tendonitis and that it can either go away quickly or hang around and be a real pain to try to get rid of. So fingers crossed it's the first option. In the meantime he gave me some prescription strength ibuprofen to take 3 times a day.

Lise - I feel your pain regarding sleep issues! Ours are ongoing but evolve. I am hoping one of these nights T will sleep more than 3 hours again. It's been 2 months since the last time he did. I've seen a chiropractor and an osteopath and neither could help.

Was wondering what people mean when they say a baby is sitting up by themself, and perhaps you could clarify for me! Is it when they can support themself when you put them on their bum, or when they can actually get into sitting position themself? T has been able to support himself somewhat, but not in a fully upright position, he slumps forward a fair bit. He's been doing weird things with his legs while on hands and knees for a while now, and we were thinking he might be trying to get over onto his bum. Then today when he was having some naked baby time he actually got onto his bum that way! It's amazing what babies can do when they are not wearing a nappy!

AFU - I took T for his 6 month check up yesterday and the doctor told me not to worry about his slow growth. I hadn't expected to get his shots because I've previously taken him to the city council clinics, but the nurse asked me while I was waiting to see the doctor if that's what I was there for and I figured since I was there, might as well if I could! Poor T, the immediate reaction was exactly like last time - that distinct cry. But this time it was followed up by some serious shrieking. Fortunately he was happy again 10 minutes later.

Seriously, it didn't seem like 2 months since the last time I took him for his immunizations. How fast is time going???

Emma - :lol: no you weren't confused, I think I am just being confusing in my writing. He hadn't been crawling properly. He would mostly do a one legged scoot sort of thing where he'd move his arms and only push with one foot. Or he'd do this lurching kind of scoot where he'd move his arms the right way but push off with both his feet kinda like a frog. But he did finally start to commando crawl, so moving his arms and legs like he was suppose to but without lifting his chest off the ground. He had been doing that pretty much since around Christmas. Monday was the first time he 'properly crawled' as in chest off the ground and moving arms and legs like he's suppose to. But it was very unsteady and he'd only do it for a few steps before he drops his chest and does the commando crawl again.

My wrist problem was YEARS ago…before I moved here to Australia, so well over 11 years ago. It was so long ago I can't really remember what I did to it to injure it in the first place or exactly what the doctor told me was wrong with it. I just remember it really hurting and it being a real pain in the butt to have to wear that wrist brace all the time. I really hope that yours heals quickly and that the ibuprofen works.

That's great that the doctor wasn't worried at all about T's growth. That must have made you feel better. The shots are a shocker aren't they? I made DH come with me again for the 6 month shots, I just can't handle that 'in pain' cry knowing that I'm the one that brought him there to put him in pain IYKWIM.

AFU - I think B may be getting sick again….oh they joys of daycare. He was super clingy when I dropped him off this morning and the past two weeks his clingyness has preceeded him being sick.
