E & M sound so good with their swimming! We had a good lesson yesterday - we managed to get through an entire half hour without J having a tantrum and having time out on the side of the pool  If I let go of her while she has the noodle she has a meltdown - god help me if I tried to get her in there by herself! She does dance on Saturday mornings and pretty much does her own thing the entire time (I'm not in there with her). She is refusing to TT at all - to the point that she will sit on the potty, get off and then do wee all over the floor. Basically she is a stubborn little thing and will not do anything that I want her to.
I have never done the reading eggs thing - is it any good? DD1 started prep this year and is now reading at a grade 2 level. She often puts J to bed and reads her bedtime stories to her  I feel redundant. J has an exceptional memory for books - she can hear DD1 read a story once and she will recite it back word for word. She listens to DD1 do her reader and then takes the book and reads it back to her. She thinks she's ready for school - she will be very disappointed when she finds out next year that she isn't even at kinder yet
-
lol nai she sounds very independant!!
-
Go on to the reading eggs site and take a look Nai, but you might find that G is too advanced for most of it, Good for kindy kids that are yet to 'formally' learn reading.
J sound like she knows that she should go on the potty, but is just doing it to peeve you! Little Monkey!
Olive - J is still enjoying the reading eggs. He calls it his "homework." Thanks so much as it was you that got me on to it. Considering J is a little behind in his motor skills, giving him a head start in other areas is a great bonus to him.

Hey gals!
Wow to your big girls swimming on their own!!! We are getting there with DD but our school doesn't do without parents until 3yo so we've got a bit of time yet. She is doing very well - this week we had her in a a cap and she was much happier to wear her goggles - they have to wear goggles in 3yo classes. She looked very cute in her cap and goggles! She's getting there and she'll be right for the class next year I reckon. DS is having fun too - he should be ready to go up into her class about the same time that she's ready to move out, so that will work well.
When can they start on reading eggs? Might look into it.
As for TT - still really hit and miss, mostly miss. On Wednesday she did poo on the carpet and DH had a big talk to her about how she needed to be a big girl and do wees and poos on the toilet if she wanted to go to Kinder next year like her cousin. Then after that she did two poos vountarily on the toilet! And she wore undies for a big part of the day, so that was great! But then the next day she weed all over the carpet three times :wall: So back into nappies. Argh!
Its so frustrating - it seems like she is ready but she just doesn't want to! Driving us insane!!!
-
wow its amazing how different swim schools are!! millie will still be with me til around 2yr 10m then she will be on her own, as for googles at our school then strongly encourage NO googles until they really really need them, DD1 only got them this year at around 4.5yrs as they need to learn to swim/save them selves with out googles
-
Olive - just a reading egg question- are you finding that by level 6 sometimes you need to encourage/ assist as they are reading the books? J is pretty good, but there are a few tasks that he asks me to sit wit.h him to make sure he is dong it right.
OP -I would say the reading eggs from about 3.5 onwards. E just gets exposed to it because J is doing it. She wouldn't be able to do it on h.er own.

Far out! I haven't been getting email updates and now I got one, my laptop's mouse pad is playing up, and now so too is the keyboard.
Kaz - yeah I know that I should be putting myself first - and I do to an extent - using the gym/exercise and relatively healthy eating as a way of handling my anxiety. And as far as macca's parties are concerned - why not? The kids have a ball, and if they only eat Macca's once a year then there is no harm in it.
Det - oh rescue remedy - that might help DS with his anxiety - he gets anxious whenever he does something for the first time - he needs a lot of hand holding and usually needs me to do it and show him that everything is fine... and I'll try it as well - maybe it will help.
 to everyone. mwah!
No TT here either, although DS will say he did a 'weewee burp' or a poo burp when he passes wind.
He's going to the speech therapist on Tuesday, has a hearing test on the 20th Sept to make sure he's on track for his speech. He's also got a cold and I think conjuntavitis (will be at the dr tomorrow hopefully).
On the upside, got three vegie beds in, so we can play in the garden this summer. DS has his own garden bed (because he loves to drown it with the hose and then stand on it with his gum boots). Have ordered a small plastic growing house so I can start some seeds growing while we are still having frosts. Just have to do battle with the local brushtail possum who has eaten all my parsley and english spinach (at least he'll be healthy) :D
Was getting clucky when we were in Adelaide recently, but I don't see another bubs on the horizon.
Ali - can't wait to see the wedding photos on FB. I'm so excited for you :D mwah.
-
Malyna how did the speechie go?
Lilima not really, she gets frustrated when she cant do somthing but generally she's on her own, i think shes up to level 7 now, but she hasnt used it much in the past few weeks!
DD2 swimming is going realllly well, she'll be on her own soon :o which is really early for Kings as they're usually closer to 3 when that happens, so shes very advanced
-
Oh, just saw this thread pop up!
Olive- DD has her first lesson by herself on Saturday! They usually go by themselves at 3 with our swim school too but she's going into some advanced class. I'm super proud! LOL. But secretly peeing my pants! She's so little! I took her for our last lesson together on Monday and had a little teary :( When did they get so big?
-
Aww Heaven, I would have gotten a bit teary too!
Ours is closer to 3 too and DD isn't ready... But she's getting so much better, it won't be long. That'll be nice to only have one requiring parental attention in the water!
Maylna - hope DS is better by now!
How's everyone else going?
-
Ours don't go in alone until 3.5 - 4y generally as our program pool is really deep and they need to be able to stand up by themselves with head above water to be able to do a class alone. i wish it was younger as Miss J is so clingy with me and has a meltdown if I try to get her to do anything by herself. She would be perfectly fine doing it with a teacher and not having me there - it is a bit frustrating but hopefully 2 weeks in FNQ being in the pool and beach every day will help her! Only 2.5 weeks to go!! Woohooo!! Am also hoping that 2 weeks in bathers will help with the TT issues as well. Fingers crossed!
-
Right so I need to tell DH that if we are serious about TT DD, we have to book two weeks in FNQ. I think he'll buy that - he's about as over it as I am.
Maybe four weeks, just to be sure :p
So jealous Nai! You'll have a fantastic time!
-
bugger nai, our shallow is 75cm.....well you could move to Kings now lol!! Where are you going in FNQ? im looking at it for next year.
Heaven we really like swimming with DD and are actually sad taht its coming to an end, its only a short time that you can do an activity with them, one on one skin to skin :( then they grow up, im a bit sad too!
OP TT is non existant here!!
-
Haha Olive - a bit too far to travel for me I think!
We are going to trinity Beach, just north of Cairns for the whole 2 weeks of school holidays! I can't wait - although I am not looking forward to Miss J on a plane - I am hoping she will be excited and not feral
-
they may open one near you!
mmmmm might go look up trinity beach...where you staying? (if you dont mind me asking)
have you got a DVD player to take?
-
If you fly Qantas they should have one of the planes with individual entertainment units for each seat :D That's what we had when we went to Brisvegas, it was awesome. They had Dora and Diego, Miss I loved it!
DS was more of a handful than DD TBH... well until DD got tired and lost the plot, screamed and carried on and then collapsed asleep next to DH ten minutes before we landed... that was fun
-
Olive, I wonder where they might be opening? Were are staying at Roydon Beachfront apartments which we booked through Hotels dot com and got a good deal. I will let you know what they are like.
OP - we are with Virgin on the way up and Jetstar on the way back so we might need to take a dvd - although on the way up we are traveling with friends so there will be 4 adults and 4 kids so that should keep them all entertained
-
ooh so jelous you all going to FNQ- my nan lives at clifton beach! which is the next beach up from trinity beach!
Been to Cairns about 15 times over the years so if anyone needs any info- just holla!!
taken the twins and boof up there by myself and with DH a few times too!!
Found virgin heaps better travelling with kids by yourself. more willing to jump in and give a hand and you can take the pram all the way to the tarmac with them.
Trinity beach is nice- its like rosebud lol- still a bit sleepy but getting a bit ritzy with the development but still a bit backwards
i would pick palm cove with kidlets - somewhere like the novatel if you are looking for a resort style- palm cove is a bit snazzier and newer. But then again everything in FNQ is still 10 years at least behind melb!
roydon appartments were nice last time i saw them- I have worked at the Marlin gateway at trinity years ago which was owned by the same people who owned roydon- they are a few stories high if i remember and right on the beach front!!
Ok gotta get going
quick news from us
boof got into 3 year old kinder- whoot- with Ocean Princesses daughter - god help the kinder lol!!!!
TT hit and miss- he wants to go- i cant be fagged lol- gotta get it going
he goes when i put him on the loo
time to get serious soon lol
heaps of other crap happening but do wanna bore you guys
mwah
outta here AGAIN - time to move and do something
mwah
