Sorry I ahve been MIA but have been busy with My 2 boys. Archer is 8 week on friday and is getting bigger by the day. We have put him onto karicare AR and he isnt chucking at all only when he gets upset and seems settled so I have glad we have done that, the only downside is that we cant make up a few bottles and keep them in the fridge just harder on us during those early morning feeds. Cooper my nearly 4 yr old is doing much better starting listening abit more but still has his days.
My boy is feeding 4-5 hourly around 150mls though does want more at times/

Cakester - When DD2 was on AR formula we had pre measured, boiled water in bottles in the fridge that we would microwave to the right temp then add the formula to. This worked best for us.

Both sides including burping about 45min to 1 hr
About 4 hrs between feeds. except the night she sleeps for about 8 hrs solid,

Shan23 i hear you on the pammies! i have them every morning! I sit there and wish she would wake for a feed lol. and i'm a bit sick of washing my sheets everyday so i now sleep with washers down my bra! :redface: It works though.

Oh gosh i love her big toothless smiles! So cute, and we have been getting more babbling and cooing. just too cute! :) We have our 6-8 weeks check up on Thursday, not looking forward to her needles. Poor little thing, i wish i could have them for her.

Oh well better go, it's feed time at the zoo! :)

Hope - wow she''s doing so well with her feeds now, considering she had a rocky start with the breast feeding.

Lairdoz - yeah Matteo was on that, his reflux wasn't to bad, so I took him off it. It seems to be getting better. Hope you get some answers from the paed.

Negrita - yeah, we cheer at 5 hours don't we :lol:

Shan - Awww that's lovely, I'm getting all those smiles and coo's as well, it's great to hear you are enjoying motherhood so much, it's a special time.

Mumof 2 boys - sorry to hear about all those feeding probs, have you tried a nipple shield (presume the LC would have suggested it), I had to use this permanently with my oldest son, it didn't affect my supply.

cakestar - glad the boys are doing well.

samcougar - * hours solid, wow, can we swap babies for a night :lol:

afm - sleep study results are back in and it proves Matteo has Apnoea, although his monitor hasn't gone off since we left hospital, he is just stopping breathing momentarily less that the 20secs required to set it off. He should grow out of this soon, and has to have a repeat study in Sept. Got a Paed appt on Thursday, we will need to be admitted to hospital for the next lot of immunisations. Just put his photo on the ticker, look at those double chins, they wobble when I push the pram :p

Butterfly, I'm glad Matteo will grow out of his Apnoea but it's still scary to think that he still stops breathing! Gosh he's gorgeous!! Such a cutie!!

Thanks Bec, Sophie's gorgeous too. Can Matteo book a date for 16 years time. Nothing like booking in early, she might have a full diary by then :lol:

Hey everyone. Sorry I've been MIA, I've been reading along but the moment I get a chance to post I'm too tired.

Lairdoz, I'm glad this fussy period is normal. It's still happening but its not as bad or for as long thankfully.

Samcouger, Hope Sophies needles went well. X goes for his next week. She is just adorable!

BF, thats great Matteos monitor hasnt gone off again and that he'll grow out of it. Love the ticker picture, he is gorgeous!


Afm, had a long night followed by a long day. after his 4am feed last night Xavier was unsettled, even in bed with us. And he still isnt sleeping well during the day. Today he didnt sleep at all really, a few 15min catnaps here (he wouldnt even sleep on me) and there until I had a nap with him at 3. We woke just before 6. he now wont go back to sleep. I'm exhausted. Resenting DP a little, even though I know he cant help that he has to work so much. he still hasnt had a day off in over a month. But I need his help, especially with days like today where Xavier is so clingy.
I dont understand why he wont stay asleep during the day. For two weeks now I havent been able to do much around the house as it seems all I do is try and get him to stay asleep!
I'm pretty much doing this alone at the moment, and I feel like I'm starting to unravel. :(

Arty hasn't slept properly during the day since he was 8 weeks old. He's 10 weeks now.

He has a feed, a play then a 10-15 minute nap. This can happen 4-5 times a day which equals an hours sleep from 9 am til 4 pm.
Then from 4, he gets super grizzly, cranky and wants to cluster feed for about 2 hrs which is exhausting when I'm trying to do dinner etc.

Once he goes to sleep, it's for anywhere from 4-6 hrs then we change bum, don't talk, feed by lamp light and he'll go back down again for between 3-5 hrs. He's only doing about 13-15hrs in a 24 hr period. I didn't think that was enough but apparently it is in the normal rangd fir a 3+ month old baby according to google but will ask dr at app on thurs.

His head had to be watched and measured as she said the little holes in his head are closing up faster than they should. I can't even feel them. Can any of you on your bubs?

Anyway, it's a slow thread.... You'd think we were all distracted!!! Unlike our preg one, especially the last 5 weeks!!!

Shan - I know how you feel with the day sleeps, A realllly doesn't like sleeping through the day! She tends to catnap alot, but she snoozes so we can put her down and let her be by herself while we do other things.

Does X usually sleep well at night when he doesn't sleep well in the day?

But she DOES sleep well when we put her in her car capsule, I tell you what, it's a lifesaver! She gets to sleep all when we go out and when were home!

I'm sorry you feel like you're doing this alone :( I hope he can get a day off soon, and X will settle down a little for you :(

M+M - I cant feel the one at the back of A's head, (but apparently it's normal?) but I can feel the one on the top still.
I was thinking it's odd were all so quiet! But then, i can't talk, I have been pretty out of it in regards to relying to this thread! I read it all, I just don't reply! Lol

Oh man... Lucy is totally opposite in regards to sleep and I think it sucks. She sleeps a lot through the day and wants to stay up and chat at night when we're all wanting some sleep and she then gets shirty when she realises no one is chatting to her so she then has a cry. Last night however she slept for 6 hours solid and I woke up because my boobs were painful!

Shan - Sorry you're doing this on you're own. I hope your DP gets the chance to help you out real soon. As for feeling like you're unravelling... I am sure there is no one in here that can say they haven't felt that way too, so feel free to vent away and know you're in the company of many who can sympathise with you :hug: I hope you have a better day today that leads to a better week.

M+M - I can feel Lucy's fontanelle on the top of her head. It is more pronounced when she is due for a feed.

AFM - My 3 youngest children all had immunisations done on Saturday. It sucked that they all coincided with each other but oh well. DS2 was a champion and only said "ouch" when the 2nd lot was being done. DD2 & Lucinda both cried a lot. Lucy was weighed and she is now 5.5kgs but they didn't do her measurements as she wouldn't keep still nor would she allow us to straighten her legs out. She is really strong and stubborn! lol. Lucinda is also really tickleish and she giggles away when I clean under her double chin!!! lol. It is hilarious and DS1 thinks it is awesome.

another one who's been MIA - i have been reading just not replying :( - DD2 is so full on that i literally don't have 10 mins to myself unless its at night when its bed time :wall:

I'm glad to read that im not the only one having issues with a baby that does not want to sleep during the day...DD2 is fine overnight, im getting 4-8hr stretches at night, but during the day she is literally attached to me (and I know BellyBelly promotes babywearing etc) but i can't stand it - i feel like i have no personal space :( - i know she's still little and needs me, but its a huge shock after DD1 who was great sleeper during the day but terrible at night! - i just dont know which one is worse :lol:

shan i hear you on feeling like you're doing it on your own...my DH is a shiftworker so he's home during the day, but im on my own from 2.00pm each day (except Sundays and Mondays when he does 2 12 hour shifts from 7am-7pm both days) with the two girls and it is really really hard dealing with a newborn that won't settle and a toddler who wants to play, i feel like im neglecting my DD1 which is breaking my heart :(

i hope everyone else is coping as best they can :grouphug:

Neg; I know how you feel about the neglecting part I feel like my poor ds is missing out as I am focused on bubs, I try my best but its hard at times.
Shan; I know how you feel about feels like doing it on your own I am getting up most nights at 3am to do a feed I have trouble getting back to sleep and by them time I do bubs is awake again for another feed as he hasnt been settling after that 3am feed not sure why he only sleep for around 2-3 hours. Hubby works hard and is knackered bythe weekend and I need a break but never seem to get it He stated to me that he wroks hard during the week and he needs a break I jumped on him and said that my work may not be physically hard but its mentally tough doing the house work and picking up after them as well as my 2 boys and dealing with the behaviours I am stressed out and am actually grinding my teeth in bed at night waking up feeling just as exhausted.

Hugs Negrita & Cakester. I often feel like I am neglecting DS2 & DD2 as I spend so much time with Lucinda. Poor DS2 begged me to let him paint last night, right before bed. I feel horrible as he & DD2 used to have 2 craft days a week before the end of my pregnancy. It has been so long since he did any craft! I am making sure he has a craft day today. I feel like I have acomplished loads if I can sit down and read them a book at bedtime. I guess in a way I am lucky they have each other as they play so well together through the day, but I still feel horrid, especially for DD2 as I feel she hasn't had any just her & mummy time.

It's nice to know its just not me that has a demanding little munchkin. Dd is attached to me the whole day. She is still feeding every hour, sometimes even more. My poor boys are being neglected scandalously. I don't have time to do much with them. At least they have each other to play with. I know this time will pass too and we'll get back into our own routine eventually.

Dd is sleeping ok during the night though which is a bonus. She sleeps better than my 18 month old.

We've all had a bout of gastro so last week was not a fun week. I certainly learnt being sick and being home by myself with the 3 of them was really hard work.

I am finding it interesting that a lot of you are feeling like your older children are missing out, I feel the opposite. My little man is just fed, looked at for a little while then put in his chair or on his play mat and that's about it if he's not sleeping (somewhere, anywhere I can!). I know it's hard though if they are being demanding - my little guy wants to have small feeds all the time which is very tiring as well as not helping his reflux.
We all know they really don't need to be fed that often of course, but to extend them out longer can be far more painful for us Mum's in the short-term than just giving in and feeding them far too often!

We are still not going any longer ever than four hours between feeds. I am sure my son will decide one night to sleep longer, but he seems to be waking with poo issues - such a delightful topic!

Thank you for the support and understanding everyone :hug::hug: I dont have any mummy friends and my family are an hour away so its nice to be able to have a vent here.

And I dont mean this in a mean way (lol), but its nice to know I'm not the only one with a bub who doesnt like day sleeps. Seems its normal for them around this age.

M+M - Xavier does the same during the day although his grizzly period is from about 6pm onwards until he crashes for the night at 10pm. Between that 6-10 period he sleeps on and off, clusterfeeds and grizzlies. I try to get dinner done in the early afternoon now, so I dont have to stress over it later when his unsettled. Although this week I will be using my slow cooker more now I now how awesome it is lol.
With the fontanelle's, Xaviers rear ones are closed, and and I can feel his top one.

Hope - Xavier sleeps awesomely of a night. His bedtime is around 7pm, but he'll wake a few times until he's down for the night between 9.30-10pm, sometimes later. And then he only usually wakes once or twice for a feed after.
I wish Xavier had something he loved sleeping in lol. I've tried everywhere but he does the same thing in everything lol.

Lisa - How cute that Lucinda giggles! I cant wait for Xavier to start to. He's very vocal though, a bloody chatterbox lol. And 5.5kilos now! They're all growing too fast!

Negrita - I hear you on wanting space. When Xavier is clingy I dont mind having him on me for most of the day, but by the end of it I'm sore all over and just want to stretch out. DP wonders why I go to bed early, but I just want x amount of time to be alone in bed to relax lol.

Cakester - I've jumped on my DP for the same thing! I asked him to change a nappy one day and he said he was tired blah blah, so I shot him down. I made him try and settle Xavier yesterday arvo when he was on a break too and he reliased just how demanding it is when he couldnt get him to sleep in 15mins. I hope you can get a break soon, can your DH take over one morning on his day off to give you a sleep in?

Mumof2boys - I hope you guys are feeling better. DP looks like his starting to get sick and I really hope I dont catch it. I'm tired enough lol

Well things are a bit better for us. Xavier has been really grizzly all day today and actually slept more. Still on and off, but more naps than usual. And he fed a lot more too. Growth spurt maybe? Idk. And yesterday was much better, he had a couple of hour long sleeps.
He gets his needles tomorrow, I'm not looking forward to it. If he cries, I'll likely cry too LOL!!! I hate hearing him *really* cry hahaha.
Ooh and I got an invite to the first-time parents group that starts on the 29th. It'll be good to meet other mums, I need mummy friends lol.

I bought Xavier an ergocacoon on ebay last night. Hopefully he can help his sleep, as he tends to move his arms around a lot in his wrap and loosen it and works an arm free which then wakes him up. I was looking at the wrap me ups too, I wasnt sure which one to get as he does like to sleep with his arms up near his head. But the ergo was cheaper so I figure I'll try that one first lol.

Shan - I bought a woombie for Anelise and eventually got her 2 ergococoons and I think the ergos are 100% better than the woombies, but not sure about wrap me ups. Anelise is now 18 months old and cal still fit into her ergococoon. I was planning to buy some for Lucinda, but she hates being wrapped. Even putting a muslin over myself for breastfeeding privacy (I'm not one to flop a booby out!) makes Lucinda cry as she really doesn't like anything that resembles being wrapped. I hope this changes by winter time!
