Niadla - bugger re the crutches and being immobile - what a pain (literally), wishing you a speedy recovery mate. Great to hear that both Lachie and Allira are well!!

Bella - glad the sleep info helped, good to hear my mothers group info is helping you guys too - LOL!! Re the body image discussion, great to hear how supportive your DH is, I am lucky in that mine is the same. I think they are in awe of all that our bodies went through during pregnancy and birth so appreciate that our bodies will change in many ways and happily accept that - yaaaaaah!!

Jacinta - have been checking out Jamies pictures, he sure is a cutie!! Good luck with the new car

Bridg - Poor Zac losing his tooth, did he get a visit from the tooth fairy? I think little kids look so cute when they are missing their front teeth - heheehehe, soon the adult teeth will make their way!!!

Kat - poor Ivy, hope she gets better soon. I too have had Bailey in arms most of today, I think his little tooth coming through is causing him a bit of discomfort, he is not too bad while awake, but I couldn't get him to sleep unless he was in my arms today, fortunately he went down to sleep in his cot about an hour ago and I think he is so tuckered out is finally able to sleep. I got some teething gel from the Womans and Childrens Hosp which seems quite effective so hopefully thats helping him. Its so frustrating that he has teeth so early, he is too young to pick up and hold a teething ring or anything, Oh well!!

Re the meet ups - I am going to keep an eye out for cheap flights like Bella and try to make the Nov one for sure, the Kris Kringle is a great idea also Kat, I would LOVE to meet IRL. BG I will also definately bring hubby as he will hopefully fly over with me and we make a weekend of it and stay in a swish hotel and live it up a little LOL - will keep you posted as the time gets closer

AFU - I went and checked out two childcare centres today - both community run, have an appt to visit ABC tomorrow, but one I visited today will be hard to beat. The first one was great, but the second one I visited (which is 2 mins from my work) was fantastic, I felt a real connection with the staff and it was really family orientated and small so the carer ratio was good and after watching some of the carers interact with the kids I was really impressed. Also the facilities and nutrition programs impressed me too. When I sat down and had a chat with the director she was going through all the details with me and when she was talking about the orientation process of transitioning Bailey into child care I burst into tears at the thought of leaving him (even in a years time) and she was so supportive and understanding, this really sealed the deal for me as she understood and let me have a bit of a cry. I have put my name down at both to cover my bases but really hope to get him into this one. Although its not until next July I needed to get my name down to ensure this happens.

I am going to pick up our professional photos of Bailey tomorrow, hope to scan them and post some on FB if possible so I can show you all.

Naomi: Glad you got out with your MG - IKWYM about getting ready when you have to... It doesn't happen often here, LOL! We are lucky if we are dressed by lunchtime. Glad your visit to the CC Centres went well. Aww, it is so hard to think about leaving them. But it sounds like the people are really lovely and that's what you want for your baby. (That's what I look for in a CCC anyway!) Will look forward to seeing Bailey's pics.
Kat: I MUST get onto FB and have a look at your pics. I am finding it difficult to get on there lately, but will make a concerted effort. Sorry Ivy isn't well. :( Love your avvy!

Honey, I get you on the self-image thing. I actually did invest in a couple of new hoodies (they were reduced - end of winter stock) and it does feel better having something that fits me. Plus, with a jacket it doesn't really matter if you lose weight - you can still wear it and it doesn't look silly. Anyhoo, it's up to you of course, but I think wearing ill-fitting clothes really doesn't help how you feel... :hug: I hope you and your DH find a new 'groove' with diet and exercise.

Phoebs has given me a couple of crappy nights, but otherwise we've had a good weekend. DH was working all w'end and I was dreading it. But I bought Natty a few little craft things (play doh, paints) and we actually had a really good time! She was sooooo well-behaved on Sunday too - I don't know what was up, LOL! But she was just delightful. We're going to the zoo on Wednesday :)
If DH isn't working he said he could look after Natty so Phoebe and I can come down to Melbourne in November! Just have to see if we can get a cheap plane ticket (loving the look of those $50 ones!) and make sure he doesn't get booked for a wedding and we're IN! YAY!

Naomi - You are so organised regarding childcare - I really need to start thinking about it too as will probably have to go back to work in a year if not sooner depending on finances. No real idea on what waiting lists are like etc, so should at least look into it I suppose.

Bella - My DH is also very supportive. We went out to a friends leaving do on Sat night (took CJ with us), but was first time had been out anywhere where had to get dressed up, and I was a bit dismayed to find how little I have got to wear which flatters my overhanging belly!. The extra weight I am carrying elsewhere I am not so fussed about but the little pot belly annoys me. Oh well I am now wearing a pedometer and trying to do 10,000 steps a day - I love my food too much to try and restrict that so am just trying to shift it through exercise.

Jacinta - keep up the pics and videos of Jamie on facebook - I love seeing all videos especially.

Bridg - Nice to see photos of your twins too, love their cheeky grins.

Kat - Get well wishes to Ivy. Love your professional pics, seeing yours and all the other girls professional pics makes me wish we had got some done. We are getting some done when back in UK with DH's family so will probably just wait for those now. Maybe I will just try to copy some of the poses with CJ myself. I was trying to take a picture of her for her passport this morning but she just kept smiling and laughing and they are meant to have their mouths closed - so I am not sure I am much of a photographer!

Snacks - I am just waiting for a group certificate for my DH to complete our tax returns - we are due a fair bit back so I am keen to get it done. I did mine with the etax the other day but need to have another look as I couldn't see anywhere to put in about now having a child, and assume that this needs to go in somewhere. We also went to mums and bubs harry potter last week - I haven't seen the other films so only thought was ok, but CJ seemed to like watching it when not sleeping or feeding (although she did fill her nappy which leaked requiring a full clothing change half way). I am planning to go to whatever film is on mums and bubs this week too.

Krystie, BG, BM - Hi and hope all is going great.

AFU - Loving all the avatars, I have sent off details for mine to be done today. CJ had not been sleeping well in the day at all the past few days which meant she was very grumpy in the evenings - but has been sleeping really well overnight e.g. last night 9:30 till 7:30. You can't win being a mum though she sleeps all night and I am up worrying why isn't she hungry, how will her nappy cope etc etc (using cloth Green Kids and the bamboo seems to do a great job). Then this morning after that mammoth sleep she had a feed, I put her in her bouncer while went to the loo intending to come back and give her nappy free tummy time like normal, but when I came back she was asleep and slept another 2 and a half hours!. Got her to have a couple of small sleeps this afternoon (one in her cot - woohoo - still struggling with getting her in her cot in the day) and she was so much more cheerful this evening until we had to give her, her sponge bath - which she hates!. We have got into a mini-routine in the evenings which seems to be working and I no longer have to do the last feed in our bed - just do in her room in semi-darkness, although this means I am not getting an extra early bedtime it does give me and DH some time alone when he is not on lates. Bought a stroller (Maclaren Vogue) which is great as can go on real long walks now, the HAB is great but there is a limit to how long I can carry a 5.6kg bub in it - not sure how keen CJ is on the stroller but she will get used to it.

Amy - glad to hear Natty had a great weekend, DOH re lack of sleep - its neverending isn't it. How exciting re the Zoo - you might get to see the new baby Elephant!! Have fun!

Vic - yeah, I thought I better get cranking on the Child Care, you hear of such long waiting lists I figured this was one task I needed to get on top of. I had it on my maternity list 'TO DO' list while waiting for Bailey to arrive, but as he arrived so early, most of the list never got done hahahahaha. Cant wait to see your Avi! LOL at CJ deciding its nap time when you had other ideas!! Bailey has been asleep since 5pm (after a very unsettled day for him) some of it in my arms and then finally in his cot and he has called it a night and hasn't woken yet, I haven't even put his grobag or PJs on yet, but hey, if he's finally sleeping I am leaving him as is!!

I just spoke to DH more seriously about Nov 22nd and he is really keen for me to go as knows how much I want too. I think he is a little unsure about him going unless its pretty much a Family thing (as with most males the thought of getting stuck with 10 or so clucking mothers is probably too much LOL) so even if Bailey and I fly over alone, we will be there too!! Bella and Amy - I sooooo hope to meet you as well as the Melb girls, perhaps we should aim to stay at the same hotel/accomodation if accomodation is needed and can make our way to the picnic together so we dont get lost - I am really quite excited now. Nice work re sorting out dates Kat - our organised Mummy :)

Hey girls!

Love that all the interstate girls feel the urge to go to the gathering!!! I really want to go so much, I've been listening to all the banter about everyone going from Melb and wanting to go but yeah, I just decided that if there was a chance I would do it.... DH is really supportive of it all. He knows how much you all mean to me and my sanity. He often comes in and peers over my shoulder to see what you (and I)are all writing and gets updates which he does likes and sometimes that he doesn't.... he is a boy after all. I looked online for the first time tonight. and the cheapest flights were $169 without baggage but I will keep looking esp on the friday fare specials. If anyone is compulsively online will they keep a watch for cheap fares for me??? My phone takes my emails so if you see something please send me a quick email.. it's bberris@westnet.com.au Mind you I am sure you all have better things to do but coming from townsville to melb will be a big feat! It will be a home coming of sorts though. I was born at the melb womens and childrens. Last time I lived there was when I was 16yo which is 14yrs ago and I haven't been back since.

I would love to stay in the same hotel with other girls if it becomes neccessary, it would be like a little party all of it's own!! So we should all keep calabourating if we can! For my imput the botanic gardens in Melb would be a bit of history come to life so I would love it if we held the Nov gathering there and Jemima and I could come!!!!!! Could keep going with the ! cos it really is exciting for those of us who hadn't thought they could come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Must go now as DH and Jem in bed and wil be awake for feeds soon enough.

Naomi- Yep Zac got $1 off the Tooth Fairy, and he thought it was pretty awesome. I reckon kids look cute with no front teeth. I have to charge the batteries for the camera and will take a pic of him. Fingers crossed u can get cheap flights. Sorry to hear u got upset when u visited the CCC today. I can only imagine what it would have felt like, but its great that the staff were supportive. Leigh is coming to the meet up, so tell Sean he will have another Daddy for some male support. We could always send the men off to somewhere while we cluck.

Amy- Im the same as u re the getting dressed at lunchtime. Sorry to hear Phoebe hasn?t been sleeping well. Fingers crossed u can get cheap flights, and that DH doesn?t have a shoot on that day.

Vic- Im the same as u re the body shape. I?ll be happier if I lose the pot belly. The extras can stay where they are now. I love my food way too much too. LOL at CJ doing a poosplosion at the movies. They really seem to know when its not a good time to do things like that.

AFU, Not much has been happening here. Leigh was home sick today, so I had 4 kids to look after. Logan slept 8hrs last night! I think my avatar needs more in it. It looks a little plain, and Leigh looks like he has a dorky look on his face. Zac had a visit from the Tooth Fairy. She brought $1. Poor Jake though, couldn?t understand that one day his teeth will fall out and he will get money too. He kept asking me when his would fall out. It would be awesome if all of us could make the meet up. We probably wont stay down there on the Sunday night, as Im thinking of heading to Geelong on the Friday to visit my sister.

Bella - it might be worth you registering for the airline emails - eg I get one from qantas and virgin when they have specials. Might help get a good price

sigh - i read all the updates but don't seem to find time to post! well,nothing significant anyway! have had a terribly stressful week with some stuff with DH so it's been a bit full on. thankfully it's mostly resolved now, but we're facing financial issues for quite a while as a result. i'm so frustrated - 12 months this stuff went on for - and now that it's resolved (the court side of it anyway) DH's boss turned around, after finalising stuff ONLY YESTERDAY and asked this morning if DH was going to continue working for them. FFS - he stuck by them after being treated like crap by the police with minimal support from his boss, stuck with them even when they messed up his pay more than once, stuck with them even though he's full time and, if there's no work on, they don't pay him - and they have the gall to ask, now that he has to pay this mammoth fine (for doing what the boss demanded of him) whether he is going to continue working for them - HELLO - how the frig are we supposed to pay this money if he doesn't have a frikken job?? not happy. poor DH is feeling physically ill today and i think it's all related. stupid bloody job! need to win lotto so we can clear all our debts (bloody IVF!) and have nothing hanging over our head and then DH doesn't HAVE to work - he can just work when he wants to.... FFS - even *I* have bailed this boss out of trouble - i drove DH to dubbo (12 hour trip) and then collected him from a little town on the border when someone quit on the boss and left the truck stranded up there. this is the thanks we get. grrrr - i feel like banging off a REALLY nasty email to them. but i'm biting my tongue (or holding my fingers as is the case here lol)

E was an angel yesterday while we waited in court - not a peep out of her for 5.5 hours - she behaved so well! slept badly the night before and again last night. i seriously hope she just picked up on our stress and will improve again now. she's been pretty good so far today!

Awww BG - Hugs, you dont need that stress. Glad to hear E was and angel for you. I hope things turn around for you. If I had the xlotto numbers I'd send them your way x :)

Bridg- How much fun getting to play the tooth fairy!! Very cute!

Vic- I hear you about the wardrobe issues, I have brought a few pieces, mostly bottoms which have elastic waists which fit me regardless, as it is mostly in my butt and thighs that I have the extra weight. I noticed that CJ is 5.6kg which is the same as jemima and thought that's funny that they have stayed exactly the same weight as they were both born 9p2o. but then realised that CJ is 2 weeks older than J... Jemima certainly seems to be a big girl in comparison to some of these babies and I sympathise about carrying these heavy bubs around! We use slings alot too.

AFM- Well Jemima had her 1st 10hr sleep last night. 8pm - 6am! Couldn't believe it. poor little mite must have been zonked! Now for a bit of TMI, :tmi: DH and I tried to DTD yest during one of J's naps. I am wondering if anyone else is having problems in that area cos we quite literally couldn't do it without it causeing me serious pain:( I felt like I have no elasticity in that area and it was stinging and sore. This happened once before and so I told GP who took swabs and said there is no infection or anything. GP's only suggestion is that you can be quite dry after birth. Has anyone else had a similar problem? I mean we used lube and everything. Sorry, sorry, sorry I know this is pushing even TMI to the limits but it is a bit depressing. Otherwise I am a happy little vegemite, life is so bliss... I am so happy being a mummy and wife, it's just great!

Bella - Luckily we haven't had any issues with DTD so can't really offer any useful advice relating to issues after pregnancy (I think having a C-Section helped in that regard), however I have had stinging/soreness before after not DTD for a while (I used to go with work overseas for 6-8weeks at a time sometimes) - to get over it we just kept trying and now just try to DTD as regular as possible because I know if leave it a while is less enjoyable. Luckily CJ is being an excellent little night sleeper so we are pretty much back to how it was pre-pregnancy.

Leading me to my question - CJ the past four nights has slept 8:30 ish till 7:30 with no wake up, so her last feed starts at around 7:45 - so that is almost 12 hours between feeds. Do you think this is ok - seems a long time at 9 weeks (At 32 I can't go 12 hours without food!) should I be waking her for a feed at 10:30pm or something. I wasn't too worried about this but this morning she did a wee on the change table and was a bit yellow, the rest of the day it is clear as before, but her urine is smelling more urine like recently (I know friends with older babies said this happens). She is her happy normal self, but only really catnaps in the daytime. In the early evening she is cluster feeding so she is drinking plenty before her mega long sleep.

I am trying some different techniques to try and get her to have proper sleeps in the day - but they just seem to make her upset - she is now crying so have to go will be back later.

Vic: Natty used to do the same thing. At around 3mo she was sleeping 11ish hours overnight but only catnapping during the day. She had better naps from around 4.5 - 5 months but then woke overnight for feeds. I think it's ok - it's like you said, she is making up for the lost feeds during the day (particularly with the cluster feeding before bedtime). She's big enough to let you know when she needs to be fed, so I'd just go with it... and enjoy the lovely sleep :)
Did you go to the movies today? I think it was Ice Age 3, wasn't it?
Bella: Re DTD - my Dr told us the normal way of things is that your perineum gets the brunt of the initial force of penetration, (ie it goes down, then in IYKWIM?) so if you had stitches this could be painful (or it might just feel a bit burny as the scar tissue stretches). You can do some perineal massage with some oil or lube, just to get the scar tissue a bit more elastic. Also, when you DTD, you should guide it in so that it doesn't push on your perineum more than it needs to, KWIM? LOL, Sorry if I've said too much for some people. I find that breastfeeding does tend to make DTD less enjoyable for me. The hormones make things drier down there and also I don't enjoy boob-play as much... Ok, that's probably enough info for you, sorry! But there you go. Last time I found that the more we did it, the better it got. This time we've only done it a few times cause I'm so tired all the time! But I didn't experience as much discomfort this time round. I HTH a little :)
BG: So sorry about all the stress with DH's work. I hope things calm down a bit now.
Bridg: Is your oldest kid (DH) better yet? LOL. Great about the 8-hour sleep. Poor Jake re the tooth fairy thing. It must be tough being a twin sometimes - you can't always do/have the same things at the same time.
Naomi: YAY for coming down to the meet-up! DH reckons he is going to make himself unavailable for work on that day, so I can go ahead and book tickets! Hooray!!! I probably won't stay overnight though. I don't really want to leave Natty that long. But I'm sooooo looking forward to meeting everyone! LOVE Bailey's pics!

We had such a great day at the zoo today. We did see Luk Chai (the baby elephant) - what a cutie! And Natty did so well - I was expecting to only stay 3-ish hours, but we stayed 5 and a half - she was really good the whole time. She was a bit frightened of the bigger animals though. Took some pics and will post a few on FB - esp of the elephant :) Phoebe slept for pretty much the whole time. I did wake her to feed her cause my bozooms were going CRAZY, but apart from that she was a little sleeping beauty. Am so very knackered now though! Will try for an early night... but with all today's sleeping I'm not sure what time my little party animal will decide to go to bed :)

Just a quick hello before I head off to bed. Kyson has been keeping me awake all night for the last 3-4 nights so I'm constantly a bit tuckered out and am only just managing to keep up with you girls here and on facebook, but not getting time to post here. Kyson has decided to go back to feeding every 3ish hours during the night (as well as during the day) and often cluster feeds in the morning. He doesn't cry during the night, but he fidgets constantly and starts working up to a cry unless I reach over and put his dummy in. And even then sometimes I have to keep my hand on his head for him to stay calm. Luckily I can manage to keep him quiet enough that DH doesn't wake up during the night, not even during feed times. With DH home at the moment it means that after a restless night for me, he is able to play with Kyson for at least an hour in the morning so that I can catch a few extra zzzz's. I'm sure it can't be another growth spurt, because I'm sure he just had one... Hopefully it's just a phase and he'll start sleeping longer soon. Everyone else's bubs seem to be sleeping longer and it's starting to get to me a little and I'm getting a little upset. Not upset at Kyson, just a bit sad that he's not able to sleep longer because I'm sure it must affect him in other ways too.

He's mostly doing really well though. He's happy during the day and he's sleeping the first sleep cycle of his naps in his cot. He tends to wake after the 45 mins though and I can't seem to get him to sleep again without constant fussing unless I let him sleep the second half of his sleep in my arms. But at least he's getting rest.

DH and I took him swimming last Thursday. We went to the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre because my 3yo niece has her swimming lessons there on Thursdays. I took Kyson in the warm exercise pool and he loved it! He was quite happy and we stayed in there for over half an hour. He's so cute when I lay him on his tummy with his head in my hands and he kicks his little legs around behind him like a frog :ROFL: I even got the courage to dunk him under the water! I blew on his face first so that he would inhale, then quickly dunk him sideways (so the water doesn't go straight up his nose) and under for a second. He didn't even get upset!!! I was so proud. Oh, and he got a lot of attention from admirers in the pool :)

Wish I could do some persies, but hopefully he'll let me do some tomorrow. But I must say that I adore the new avvies!!!

KL - there must be something going on with the universe at the moment - E is back to waking through the night more than once - it's a bit of a shock to the system. she's also started seriously screaming the house down if i move her away from the boob (even when asleep) or try to burp her - it's full on! she's as happy as a pig in mud if she decides she's done and wants to sit up, but mummy has hell to pay if she tries to dictate. very emotionally trying

to the DTD question - with DH being away for work and things we're not having as much "fun" as was normal pre-pg - and when we do it can be painful. i had a c/s so i know it's not from that - i think it's just from lack of natural lube and stuff. i actually have a graze from our last exploits... sigh! poor DH (and me!) - he feels so bad he won't try anything again for ages and the break will mean it all goes back again and same thing will happen.

sorry for no more persies - just got home from mum's and got E to bed - with all the tanty's and stuff it took me nearly 2 hours to leave - i can't bring myself to put an hysterical bub in the car seat - it's not fair on her. little turd though - i managed to calm her after a second feed - kept saying i wanted to take her home to bed but she had to stay calm and things so that she knew what was going on (i refuse to believe she's not up to that level of understanding already lol) - she stayed calm and even smiled when i put her in the capsule! mum reckons she wanted to go home - goodo - don't scream then! lol

Vic - love the avi, you are such a hawks fan, and didn't you guys get married on a tram, nice work!!! Re CJs sleep habits, if she seems happy and is eating regularly during the day and poo-ing and wee-ing reguarly, go with it, she'd waken if she was hungry - I am with Amy on this one, our little ones certainly know how to tell us when they need us re crying etc so it sounds fine, the only downside is she is probably getting so much sleep at night she may not be needing as much during the day - hence the day sleep dilema - its such a double edged sword (so to speak)

Awwwwwww Krystie - I know its hard but try not to get upset about Kysons sleeping habits, I think the worse thing we do to ourselves is compare our babies to others and worry when others do different things that might be viewed as favourable that ours aren't doing, so don't beat yourself up about it. Bailey still feeds three hourly day and night except for only one feed he has dropped (I put him to bed about 630ish atm and he skips the 930-10ish one), then generally reverts back to 3-maybe 4 hourly if I am lucky) so you are not alone. I know what you mean though, I would love him to sleep through like some of the other babies but thats just not Bailey, he obviously needs his more regular feeds and Kyson probably does too at the moment, where as some of the other babies are just making their milk last longer. I guess like us adults babies have varied metabolism and eating habits and there isn't a great deal we can do about it. At our mothers group we were discussing how people label babies as 'good', 'fussy', 'needy' etc and how it really is wrong and causes great distress to parents, and I find that lots of people ask me if Bailey is sleeping through the night yet - and my answer is yes - apart from feeding which is a necessity, he does sleep through, its not like he is acting up or screaming all night, and lots of people dont understand than breast milk is so much more easily digestable that formula which keeps baby full and asleep longer, so there is some sacrifices we make as breast feeding mums, sleep being one of them. Sorry to rave on but I hate to hear when any of our group are upset so I hope this makes you feel a little better, and HUGS and be sure to get some rest when Kyson sleeps too - a good nights sleep does wonders to make you feel better about any situation so as you are sleep deprived atm its probably making you worry/feel upset un-necessarily. I think you are a great Mummy, very nuturing and a real 'earthy mother' hehehehe and I am in awe of you and your beautiful little man!! :) The swimming sounds like lots of fun, sounds like you have a water baby there with the little froggy swimmer LOL

Amy - so glad to hear you are likely to make the meet-up too, I cant wait to meet you, I am really excited to meet our fantastic group. Not 100% sure if I will stay overnight or try to fly in/out the same day yet - will see what flights/times are on offer. Bella - Dont worry re the TMI, I think our group have discussed all sorts of things so we can all take it LOL. We have DTD with mixed results so I dont have too much advice to offer LOL, the first time was pretty ordinary and a bit sore - and due to my crazy cycle and (now) 3 week AF (which is finally coming to and end thank god), opportunities to 'make luuuuurve' have been few and far between. However now that my cycle is hopefully back to normal DH and I will try to resume something close to a normal sex life LOL. Having said that my next AF is now due in just a few days - DOH!!!! :doh:

BG - what is it with screaming bubba's today? DH took a day off today to spend with us, and dressed Bailey and when he put the clothes over Baileys head he freaked out and took about 2 hours to calm, its was horrid, he was doing that heartbreaking sob cry and then sobbing for ages after, both DH and I got a bit teary as nothing we tried helped - even on the boob he cried the whole time. Finallly he exhausted himself and went to sleep so we put him in the carseat and went out as planned (but quite delayed), fortunately when he woke he then reverted back to his happy normal self and his smiles were a good tonic as I think both DH and I were a bit worse for wear as it was such an emotional morning. Hope E has settled down for you and you get some more smiles too, isn't it just sooooo heartbreaking when they are beside themselves.

Bridg - good luck with all the kids needles tomorrow. We already have Baileys 2nd round booked - for the 18th August - god he is growing up fast!

AFU - Thanks for all the lovely comments re our pics. I have been busy framing our photo's and put some hooks in the walls tonight so have hung them all up. I am so proud of the photo's and in awe of my gorgeous little boy and will really treasure them. I was looking at one of the family ones and wondering what I did to deserve such a handsome hubby and gorgeous baby - like you Bella I am soooooooooooo happy being a Wife and Mummy - life is pretty damn good hey? :)

Naomi - i know what you mean about being heartbroken when they're beside themselves - i was at my parents place yesterday when E was doing it and my dad ended up going to work early. i couldn't force her to stop crying and given i'm alone so much of the time i persevered with her rather than handing her to someone that doesn't smell like milk (well the second time i did - the first time i really needed to pee so granma took her - she calmed down, burped - happy again!) wish she'd realise that i'm trying to help get rid of the pain and the more she screams, the more air she is gulping in and is making it worse! she's had a massive dirty nappy this morning and was all smiles afterwards, is fluffing up a storm at the moment (can hear her on baby monitor) - so hopefully we might be a little more pain free today.

Naomi - Thank you so much for your post. Yes, you did make me feel much better. What also made me feel better was Kyson having a better night last night, lol, but your post definitely helped a lot too! I didn't realise that Bailey was still feeding that often too. I was starting to think that Kyson was the only one still doing such short periods between feeds. It looks like last night he dropped the same feed that Bailey does. I fed him at 7.15pm and then he was in bed by about 8.45 (little monkey wouldn't go straight to sleep, I think he wanted to watch Grey's Anatomy with me!) and DH and I went to bed at 10.15pm. I expected Kyson to wake up when we got into bed for a feed because it was 3 hours since his last feed, and usually I would give him a rollover feed when I hop into bed. But I decided to just leave him and see how he went. He didn't wake for a feed until 2.00am! I was really impressed. If that's how he sleeps with a semi-empty belly, then I'll skip his rollover feed every night hehe. 22 minutes later he was back asleep in his cot without his dummy and slept another 4 hours until 6am. After his feed he was wide awake though, so DH took him for a little play. They then came back to bed at 7am and Kyson slept again until 10.00am!!! I asked DH what he had drugged him with, lol! Suffice to say, I feel much more rested today, and fingers crossed we can repeat this in the future :)

Amy - Can't wait to see your zoo pics! Sounds like Phoebe was a little angel.

Vic - My mantra is "never wake a sleeping baby, lol! Unless you really have to of course. But I figure that if a baby is hungry then they will wake up themself. Don't stress chickadee, and try to enjoy the little extra "free" time ;)

Bella - I'm finding DTD a little painful too. It's really weird though, because I can't work out exactly where it is that hurts. We've been using lots of lube, but there is still a bit of pain. We tried a couple of positions and some were better than others. We though (TMI!) doggy might be better, but it was the worst! In the end we found that having me on top was best, and it also gave me more control so I was able to adjust myself if something hurt. Wow, we are breaking down all the TMI barriers in this thread aren't we? :ROFL:

Bridg - I hope Leigh is feeling better now. I'm sure it was a lot of fun looking after 4 kids hehe. I'm so glad to hear that Zac got $1 from the tooth fairy. I almost choked when I heard that DH ex gave their son $20!!! He was only 6 at the time. What 6 year old needs $20?! Then when he lost his next tooth at our house we felt like we had to give him a note too, but we only gave him $10. But I left little glitter sparkles in a trail on his floor leading to his bed and pillow, and low-and-behold, he was much more excited about the "fairy dust" than the money. Surprise surprise, he is indeed a child ;)

My best friend had her baby this morning! It's a sweet little girl and her name is Elliotte Rose :) I'm so sad that I couldn't be at her birth. I flew to Sydney to be at the birth of her son, but wasn't able to be there this time because of Kyson. I'm sure a 3 month old crying isn't the most soothing noise during labour... Hehe. My bestie did great though! 4 hour labour!!!

we already tell E to live it up cos soon enough it will be "socially unacceptable"! she was sitting on a friends lap the other day, fluffing to her hearts content, and it was considered cute - not sure it would be the same in a few months or a year or so.... i also tell her not burping is an offence to mummy - cos in asia, a burp is a compliment to the chef - by nott burping shes' telling me it wasn't nice....

feeling a little down on the BF front today - my mum made the mistake of offhandedly blaming my milk for her crying - couldn't possibly be that she's growing and wanting comfort from mummy given she's had injections recently - has to be my milk. want to say how upset it made me but don't want to cause any issues - it really wasn't intended to upset me - but it did kwim?

Thanks for the advice girls - I wasn't too worried until I saw the yellow wee - and your reassurance was great. After another long sleep CJ kindly put my mind at rest this morning by weeing on the change table again and wasn't yellow, I think yesterday she did a tiny poo at same time and that is what made it look yellow!!

Naomi-Sorry to hear about Bailey being upset! That must have been heart breaking! We haven't had Jemima go for that long yet, but when she has we have both been devistated! Strangly enough she has also been sent into fits of crying lately whilst being dressed. Really starts to get into a right pickle about it! DH was having more success than me and we worked out it was cos I push her hands thru from the bottom whereas he puts his fingers in and grabs her hands and pulls them thru. Anyway I was just about ready to leave her in the same clothes for the rest of her life this week because of the heartbreaking cries!

Kristy- Sorry your feeling down about Kysons sleeping habits. It may sound hollow coming from me cos J's sleeping really well at the moment but remember that they all come along in different area's at different times. We don't get a smile from J very often at the sight of our faces. She smiles at her mobile and the silly ballon next to her change table but very rarely at DH or I..... They all have their strengths and weaknesses..also try and remember it feels so much worse at the moment because your so sleep deprived!

BG-sorry to hear your also struggling with miss E's sleep.

Vic- I think CJ and J must be going on pretty similarly. J is sleeping really long stretches, now i just have to work out how to cope with the breast engorgement in the mornings! Also she slept 9 1/2hrs last night and I was worried about her rine output cos her nappy was not drenched like you would expect this morn and it was a little yello, but certainly not really dark which would be a worry and it had gone back to completely clear by the next nappy change(which was not long after) cos she scoffed her way thru two massive boobs!

AFM- Well thankyou all for your opinions on my DTD issue. I think having listened to you all that I am probably just dry due to hormones. We DTD about 8 days after Jemima was born cos of my c/s and I was able to and it was fine then but due to exhaustion we left it till a couple of weeks ago. it was so sore then that i thought i had thrush and so treated for that therefore we didn't DTD. had swabs with gp who says all clear so i think it maybe a case of having to have lots and lots of foreplay before next time if it isn't gonna be horrid. I wonder if it is the body's way of tightening things up down there and because of the c/s I don't actually need it and it has over done it now?

I went to the ABA morning tea yesterday and it was nice. Only thing that wasn't was being told not to talk about how well j's been sleeping cos it upset people who's babies weren't sleeping well. Now I understand that it must been annoying to hear it goes easy for some people when it is hard for yourself, but I found it really upsetting not being abloe to share how my little girl was doing just because it wasn't terrible:( Seriously. I stood there with a group of women one of whom was my sister who i had told earlier about j's sleep and got told not to tell other women my story as they wouldn't want to know. My response was that people are always saying that you have to tell positive birth stories or else women will only think that it is all terrible, and I thought that the same applied to sleeping. It's not that i was trying to be insensitive, cos i know even amoungst us Kristy is having a hard time of it and it is probably disheartening...... oh i don't know... maybe i am more ****ed that my sister and her friends thought that they needed to tell me to be sensitive and not rub it in other peoples noses rather than the idea it's self. On the other hand this post has taken me 4 hrs to write cos J just doesn't sleep thru the day and I find it hard to get anything done... typing one handed is hard and she has had 2 half hr naps in between... anyway that's my little whinge.

I booked flights to go to canberra today for the home birth rally. I hope it is gonna be really huge! They want to take away the rights of midwifes to practice independantly. And it limits womens choice in where to birth cos they are talking about 30,000 fines for woman and midwife if they practice homebirth. Anyway I think it is a really important cause and whether we believe in homebirth or not I believe it is about free choice for women and that's enough for me. We have been subsidised to go by the "friends of the birth center" so it's not costing much. I am still looking for cheaper flights to melb in Nov as am dead keen to come, they r just a little out of the price range i would like to pay ATM.

BG - It's amazing how a small comment from someone can get us so down. I was talking to a mother the other day that refused to see her MCHN again because of something that was said. Apparently when the mum asked the nurse about her baby crying inconsolably in the evenings for an hour or so, the nurse responded with "the baby will stop crying when it trusts you". OMG! I couldn't believe that! Imagine if your nurse implied that your baby is crying because it doesn't trust you! So disgusting. Luckily my MCHN is quite good.

Rest assured that your boobies and your milk are perfectly fine. Actually, they are better than perfectly fine, they are absolutely amazing missy! Maybe remind your mum that E is a baby, and that babies cry!

Kristy- good advice to BG, it's amazing isn't it what people can say to new mums and think is fine, I can't believe what the MHCN said to you friend!! Do they forget we r infinately hormonal tender creatures who really need encouragement at this time. I was pleased as punch yesterday cos one of the child health nurses at the morning tea said i seemed like a really relaxed natural mother... I didn't bother telling my sister but i told my DH when i got home.. His response was, i've been telling you that! It is just really important to hear positive things said to you.

On the subject to babies sleep by the way, from all the stories i hear now it doesn't seem to have anything to do with whether ur a "good" mum or not as to whether ur baby sleeps . So many people tell me that they had really different experiences between different children and it is just luck of the draw.

Bella - As far as I am concerned, I think that you should definitely be able to tell anyone all the good things that your baby is doing! You are a proud mummy and you have every right to be! I never get upset at other mummies saying how good their babies are sleeping etc... I may feel a little envy at times, but that doesn't take away from how happy I am about other peoples fortune. You are exactly right when you say that each baby develops at it's own speed, and while some babies are sleeping through the night, they may not be doing some of the things that the other babies are ding. I do love it when Kyson stares into my eyes and coos and smiles away, and I guess if that is at the expense of a little extra sleep, then I'll take it gladly ;)

Oh, and I think it is wonderful that you are travelling all the way to Canberra for the rally! :clap:

Krystie I always boast about when Phoebe sleeps well at night just cause she hardly ever does! LOL! It's my number one whinge point as a mummy, feeling tired a lot. But.... bwahahahahaha - you guys already know that because you're the ones I whinge to! I am a bit of an obsessor about sleep - I wish I could be as zen as Naomi. Hugs to you both.
BG: I'm gonna reiterate my thoughts on boobies that I shared with Bella a while back... Yours are FAB, baby. IKWYM about taking other peoples' throw-away comments to heart. Breastfeeding is SUCH a personal thing between you and your baby, hence why it hurts so much when it's suggested to you that your milk isn't exactly what your baby needs (either by someone else or by your breast-refusing, crying baby). I understand, but I so want to reassure you that your milk is PERFECT for Em.
Bella: Sorry that you were told to clam up about Jemima's sleep. That's not fair! What about the people that have successful breastfeeding stories? Should they keep it to themselves because others are struggling? No way. People need to know that if you're struggling with something, it doesn't mean you always will.

BG - LOL @ hearing farts through the monitor, we can hear them through ours too and it cracks me up, amazing how sensitive they are. DH was paying me out a few weeks ago and asked why I say 'Good Boy' when Bailey burps but call him a pig when he does it, LOL, so the next time he burped I said "Good Boy" (this was funnier IRL hahahahaha)

Krystie - so good to her you can make the meet ups. I cant wait. I wonder if it will be a little weird for us all IRL? , but I bet within a few minutes we'll be chatting away just like in here LOL. Vic - nice work with the washing, I have a few loads I need to get through tomorrow, we dont have a clothes line yet (have only been in our new house 18 months - we really need to get our act together) so I am using the dryer (and paying the price literally with the electricity bill!!)

Bella - yell it loud and proud with all of Jemima's achievements mate. Like Krystie I am envious too, but I would never begrudge another Mummy of proudly displaying how their baby/child is going. I also agree re spreading positive Mummy stories. So many people LOVE to tell you about all the 'bad' stuff that MAY happen, personally I think they need to have a good hard look at themselves and rejoice in their children some more and be more supportive. I love telling people my birth story as its so positive and it was such a wonderful experience for me, and I dont want first time Mums to worry, panic, or dread labour. Its unfortunate that so many people dwell on negatives rather than positives. I'm a bit of a glass half full kinda gal and I sometimes think thats why to others it appears that lots of good things happen to me, whereas I think its more my ability to turn most situations into positive things. Sheesh now I am sounding Zen, LOL Amy!!! Oh yeah and nice work re the Birth Rights Rally - you go sister!!

Amy - I dont actually think you whinge at all, you always sound happy and in control no matter whats happening, and seem to have the ability to through a bit of humour into any situation. However feel free to 'whinge' to us any time!!! Nice work re the cleaning, our house is WELL overdue for a good clean, hoping DH and I might put a few hours in on Sat morning to attack it as I haven't paid much attention in the last week, there are quite a few 'dust bunnies' floating about the place......... hahahaha

AFU - Dinner with the IL went really well tonight, and my dessert (a chocolate fondue) was fabulous if I may say so myself!! I got the MIL to rock Bailey to sleep so she got a few cuddles and made a bit of a fuss about how well she got him to sleep etc although at one point I wanted to slap her as she is a big fan of the whole "Oh they are so cruel to you" mantra - why do people always say this when your baby is crying? I took Bailey off to feed and when I bought him back I was making conversation and said how he had a massive feed and must of been hungry to which I got "Has your Mum been starving you all day, how cruel". SERIOUSLY!!! One day I might actually get a compliment about being a good Mum - enough of my ranting LOL

Naomi - i hope some day soon your IL's will work out that, even though they're being facetious, those comments can hurt - esp for a BF mummy! it's so hard to know how much your baby is getting, and no matter how confident you feel, those comments will cause niggling doubts - tell your MIL to go take a flying leap next time! or maybe say "he eats what i eat - so the only way i starve him is if you don't feed me right" and give her a backhanded insult lol had to giggle at the "good boy" to your DH's burp! i've done that to DH as well - our usual comment is "better out than in 'ay Donkey" - can you tell we like Shrek (DH and his bestie used to be called Shrek and Donkey on the CB's at work lol)

Hi Girls,

Well this will be a quick one but I did want to boast! I got my best ever sleep yet last night! Jemima decided that she just couldn't sleep last night without waking until about 10:30 which is around when we go to bed... Ussually she goes to bed at 8pm which is btwn 2-4 hrs before us. Were shift workers and we both mostly do afternoon or night shifts so our body clocks have been set to evenings, so even though she has slept thru, she hadn't slept thru on our time. Anyway. last night she slept 10.30 - 7 when DH's alarm went off and I swear she would hav slept longer if not for him making a racket in our room. I woke up so disorientated... couldn't believe it was morning!! But it was refreshing, but it was nice.

Now we have an unexpected house guest who is lovely but who we have stayed up all night talking to which is why i am up now... hope Jem sleeps late or I will pay for my indulgence..

fantastic news on the sleep front Bella! it's blissful but sooooo weird when you first start getting a decent sleep. E has been weird this week - a couple of nights of waking, one of sleeping through, another of waking, then slept through last night same hours as J - back asleep about 8 and still sleeping now - i'm fed, showered, dressed, and sitting here listening to her start to squirm on the monitor. we had a big day out yesterday and we're out again today (if daddy isn't home, mummy REFUSES to be a hermit at home all the time!) so i'm hoping she's in a good frame of mind today!

last night she slept while at a birthday party - through all the food and chatter, happy birthday, all the clapping and stuff - only woke up and got grizzly when the kids (it was a kids party!) started squealing cos they got their cake and stuff. i was so proud of her

DH has decided working on the weekend is fun but im bored lol he was gone at 8:30 so far bub is behaving but its only been 2 hours (background DH is unemployed but he sometimes helps his mate out with jobs today hes cutting up an old garbage truck and 2moro he's doing some welding used to be a welder)
J usually sleeps from about 8 to 8 with one feed about 2 sometimes longer since hes been doing it i've felt so refreshed its awesme when they sleep. he loves to play on his mat so far the amber bracelet is working on me i haven't had a headache since i put it on when i usually get at least one a day

Just a quickie - Bailey slept until 2am last night, one feed (he went 8 hours between feeds). I'm excited and hoping his little belly is growing and holding more milk, or maybe it will be a once off LOL

Ohhh yeah and BG - the IL will never work it out as they are just plain dumb and insensitive :(

Naomi: LOL @ dust bunnies - you should've seen out place! It hadn't had a decent clean since my pre-Phoebe nesting days :redface: DH and I finished things off (inasmuch as you can 'finish off' a never-ending process) today as he took the day off. He spent 2 hours on our upstairs ensuite! Took apart the sink drain to clean, squeegied the wall tiles from floor to ceiling etc... It looks better than it has in years, LOL!
Oooooh, I LOVE fondue. What a great choice for dessert. Bleugh @ your MIL. What a shame she had to ruin what sounds like a good night. I applaud you for putting up with that crap as much as you do. And you are an awesome Mum. I know its not quite as meaningful on here as IRL, but I love reading your posts and hearing your opinions on mummy matters. You are so obviously in love with your little bloke and the ease of your transition into motherhood has been inspirational - you're a natural! Should be your MIL telling you this to your face. But I hope you realise how true it is.
BG: Hope Miss E has continued to be kind to you on the sleep front. IKWYM about needing to get out - I am the same. Being at home all day doesn't appeal to me at all.

So bummed. Phoebe did a 6-hour stretch tonight but we had people round for dinner so I missed 2 hours of it :doh: We are headed out to a big lunch @ my folks' today, with a dozen adults and several young kids. Natty's going to love it.
OMG, how cold is it?!! Phoebe is having a very light sleep right now - I know if I put her down she'll wake after 10 mins (enough time for me to get back into the warm bed, lol!) so I might get my granny blanket and have some lounge time. Hope you're all having a good weekend.

ahhhh my good sleeper seems to be back! not that she's a good sleeper during the day, but at night, it's good. i think it helps me to not miss DH so much if we get a good night of sleep. if she wakes, i call him cos i just miss him so much! E's day sleeps are still all over the place - and when she feeds she is still refusing to burp which means she's in pain as well as being grumpy from tiredness so gets so worked up! poor poppet

went to mum's for lunch and dinner yesterday. one of her neighbours that we're both friends with was having a digital scrapbooking presentation. seeing i was given the software for E's baptism, i thought i'd turn up and scope it out, hoping to get some hints - i learnt more in the half hour i played with it the other night on my own! i was telling the consultant how to do stuff - and she was supposedly trained! grrrrr not happy. consultant was useless so i didn't spend much money (only spent what i did to do the right thing by the friend having the party) - spent most of last night downloading free add ons from the net - am really looking forward to working on some stuff for E (and probably our wedding - only been a few years lol). E was pretty good seeing she had a 12 month old little boy all over her - he's about to become a big brother in Dec and they want him to have plenty of time with bubbas so it was really good for him.

E has started actively looking for DH when he is on speakerphone or when i ask "where's daddy?" pokes her tongue out at granpa - and whe he says not to, she does it more lol! last night at dinner she was trying to grab at my food so mum gace her a plastic spoon to play with. she grabbed it and put it straight in her mouth! licked it, then extended it towards my plate and back to her mouth. so very very cute,

i was crook last night but she slept really well thankfully. we only surfaced about an hour ago lol

I wish I were artie enough to do scrapbooking. SIL (my brother's wife) is really into it and she's so good at it. We did an album for my grandfather's 90th. All the kids and grandkids (and some great-grandkids) did a page. Ours looked so boring compared to their ones, LOL! DH is the visual person in our relationship, so I'm getting him to create albums for the girls. He's been saying for the last 6 months that he's going to do a coffee table book of Natty pictures through his work... Still yet to see any evidence of that though.

DH is working again didnt think i could miss him this much after having him around all the time the difference is noticable lucky j has been an awesome boy playing quietly and napping for an hour and a half at a time yay!!!!
