Am i crazy for wanting another baby?
Looks like I have a couple of minutes free. Kyson has just gone down in his cot and the DSS's are currently playing on their computers. DH isn't home though (he's DJing) so if something comes up here then I'll have to cut the post short...
Up until recently I had it in my head that Kyson was one of the only babies in this thread that wasn't sleeping through the night, and that was feeding around 3 hourly. I kept telling myself that his habits are normal and that each baby is different, but when everyone is telling me he should be having at least 4 hours between feeds by now, it was hard not to start doubting the way I was doing things. Even my MHC nurse told me at his 2 month check up that he should be stretching his feeds to at least 4 hourly and that was over a month ago. But after reading about all your babies I feel much happier with the way things are with Kyson. In general he is feeding 3 hourly, and I consider myself lucky if he goes an extra half hour or hour. During the night he often goes 4 hours between his first feeds, then back to 3 hourly. Very occasionally he'll give me a longer stretch, but then usually cluster feeds in the morning after that. Even though I'm feeding him 2-3 times during the night, the good thing is that from the moment I start feeding him it's only about 20 minutes before we are finished and he is back asleep in his cot. I think that him cosleeping helps heaps when it comes to him just feeding and drifting back off to sleep quickly.
Oh, and as for day naps... I can often get him to go down in his cot for his first sleep cycle (45 minutes) but after that he wakes up and the only way to get him to sleep again is for me to hold him. Sometimes I try to persist in settling him back to sleep in the cot, but it takes ages, and then he'll just wake within 5-10 minutes again anyway, so it doesn't seem worth the trouble.
Oh oh! DSS's are having a "disagreement" and I just know where things are headed so I better go separate them before things get a little sad, hehe.
Take care all! xoxox
proud mummy moment - E has started kissing people - so cute (but so gross - pukey baby trying to lay one on ya... lol
she's also gained a mammoth amount of neck control the last few days - it's divine - she sits herself up when she's on our lap - even rests her elbow on Daddy's pot to prop herself up!
and we finally got her to settle in the hug a bub! woot! she doesn't love it to start with but a bit of jiggling and she settled down - slept for about 90 minutes while i was out in the garden with DH - then over half an hour after being wrestled out of it and laid in her bouncer
now, the telling thing will be how she sleeps tonight - praying it doesn't change anything. i haven't been sleeping well myself due to my arm (damn it - bubba sleeps but i can't - so i really do feel for you ladies with unsettled bubs!) and don't know how i'll cope if she is awake heaps. ah well, time to suck it up! have taken the strap off my arm for a while - here's hoping it doesn't work against me!
Jacinta - no you're not mad. we had a bit of a "situation" where i had some rather decent fertile signs, and then being crook this week things looked a bit like we may have had a rather miraculous oopsie. test yesterday showed we hadn't, but i had kinda accepted it might happen - and wasn't all that unhappy about it!
given we needed assisted conception, it IS highly unlikely but not impossible so i guess we're playing russion roullette - if it happens, it happens and we'll be stoked (though i'm not unhappy that it was negative yesterday...)
Another quick post hehe. All three boys are sleeping and I'm about to join Kyson in bed :)
Jacinta - No! You're not crazy at all! DH and I have decided to try for our next (and final unfortunately. I'd keep going but it was hard enough to convince DH to have even one more hehe) early next year. We'll probably try to conceive from February and fingers crossed it happens quickly. My sister and I only have 17 months between us and we have always been really close. I won't go crazy like my mum though... She had 3 babies under a year of age for 8 days, lol! She gave birth to my twin brothers 8 days before my other brother's first birthday!!!
BG - So cute that E gives kisses! When Kyson is hungry and doing what I call "warming up his mouth" I sometimes hold him to my face so that it's like he's kissing me  In actual fact he's probably trying to latch on to my cheek!
Amy - Mega hugs for you sweetness!
Naomi - Kyson's first sleep is often his longest one too. I feel a bit cheated when I miss some of it because I go to bed after him hehe. PS, Go hawks :P I don't follow the football in general, but tend to remember that I'm technically a hawks fan when I hear that they are winning ;)
Oh and good luck to your soon-to-be-no-longer-pregnant friend!
Bella - Your photos are gorgeous!!! I think I might follow your lead and try to let Kyson feed a little more during the afternoon and evening and see if that makes any difference at night time. He tends to want to feed a little more at night time anyway and so far I keep him entertained to stretch him out a little bit between feeds. Maybe I'm shooting myself in the foot though. Will give it a go and see what happens.
Hi to everyone else! Sorry to those I missed, but my eyes are shutting of their own accord hehe
Just a quick post (had to post after all the footy comments) as I have fitness class this morning and I have to feed CJ both sides before I go or it hurts my boobs too much - she isn't awake yet and I will have to wake her if she doesn't stir soon :-(. She is prob a bit worn out after the footy - we went last night and yes the Hawks were ahead for one quarter, and then the second quarter we only got two behinds and that was it all over really Naomi I thought after the first quarter Crows looked ok. Oh well was good to go, CJ watched a couple of quarters and then went to sleep (almost at exactly same time she goes to bed at home so perhaps she is well into a pattern now), so we had to wrestle (I like that description BG, glad E is starting to like it) her out of the hugabub when we got home, she woke up as we had to change her nappy and she just so reminds me of how I am when woken up when she is woken up (a bit grumpy and startled looking).
