lots of rain this morning - bound to rain again soon - heading to a friends funeral...
i haven't been posting much lately - going through a really ordinary patch in my own life, and trying to stay focussed without upsetting others with my selfishness. holidays in less than 2 weeks (far out, two weeks from now i'll be in Canberra celebrating our wedding anni!) - so i'm focussing on that
its bucketing here hope we can make it to melb 2moro and home on sunday
So sorry you guys are getting even more rain. This weather is just crazy.
So the storms were ferocious! we lost power at home for 48 hours. We got back last night with the river still rising, and depending on what the next few hours bring, we may be leaving again before a bunch of rain is meant to hit us this weekend... :S

Oh Nicky, I have no idea how you are coping so well with all the flooding and having to move out of your home! It must be so hard, and yet you somehow keep your head up and I even see you cracking jokes! You amaze me :)

Natalie has this uncontrollable cough. I have no idea what I'm going to do with her tomorrow. Hoping DH will be able to stay home tomorrow morning because my Mum is up at my brother's until lunchtime and she can't go to CC.
Phoebe has been so cute with DH recently. She seems to have a much tighter bond with him than Nat ever did and he's really enjoying it. The other night we were over at our friends' place and he arrived late. Well, as soon as she saw him she practically screamed, "HELLOOOOOOOOO!!" and bolted for him and gave him a massive cuddle. Was just adorable. She has been practicing her words too, as we drive along in the car she will often repeat things that Natty or I say. And of course Natalie thinks it's a great game. Ie, "Can you say, 'pink' Phoebs?" etc etc. But she still doesn't use words to ask me for things, like drink/water/milk or whatever. She basically just repeats things or says things at random still.
I have started putting her on the toilet before the bath but she's not happy to sit there for longer than a second or two. I would rather not wait as long with her as I did with Natty, but it strikes me that it's easier toilet training a kid who can talk. Or maybe I'm just lazy!
It is such a relief that the weather has cooled down. Today has been so much more pleasant and I really feel heaps more positive all round! We slept quite well (except for Natty's at times relentless coughing) for the first time all week.
Nicky, i can't believe you're still sane! this is doing my head in on your behalf lol

Ah well it's a combination of me being a nutcase, and the fact that all you can do is laugh because there is no way of stopping it and what happens, happens.
River peaked last night... started going over the roads but was nice and shallow so could drive through it fine. Will see how this weekend goes...
Amy sorry to hear Natty's not too well. I hope she improves soon. Maybe it's a second child thing... Allira is totally obsessed with her father!! She's fine during the day, but as soon as he pulls up she starts scraeming out "Daddy!! Daddy's home!!" and runs over to the door and starts knocking on it. Cute.
I'm going to leave Allira a few more months before even thinking of TTing. Lachie was so super easy and I know Allira will take a little longer if she's younger. She does like sitting on the potty though, and she also tells me as soon as she needs her nappy changed, so I'm hoping she'll pick it up quickly.
Allira's learning to count. She can now count to 5. I wish she'd stop... she talks non stop on the phone to everyone, talks non stop on our hour trip into town, talk talk talk. She's funny around new people, and she is funny around my parents for a good half hour because she doesn't see them as often as the IL's.
All is going pretty well though. These kids are lost without each other!! If one is in bed, the other wants them out. It is good to have an hour or 2 with each of them on their own.
Other than that... not much happening. Hope all our lovely preggy ladies are going well!!

Amy hope Natty's getting better (and your courtyard experience wasn't too traumatic - have been following your sugar ban thread with interest - I tend to subscribe to threads rather than just browse at the moment and am not joining in as pregnant but interested to see how you go - whether I would ever have the willpower is another matter!)
All good here - feel bubs move a little from time to time but nothing major yet - bubs was 2 weeks ahead at appointment last week so have a feeling may be another large-ish baby. Hoping for a VBAC but we shall see - size already coming up at appointments but I just keep saying am undecided at moment.
Bella - once I know the sex am going to treat us to one of your wraps - might just ask you to choose something suitable though as I am rubbish at choosing.
Those of you with two already - do you find that you give bubs to dad more often than did with first because of demanding toddlers and just wanting some time with them, and when they are little bubs are easy for dads apart from the feeding. When we are out and about sometimes find myself wondering how we would do the situation differently with two around - I am very hands on with CJ when out and about partly because she is a bit clingy these days and plays up less for me, but also because I think DH just takes the easy ride if I let him.
Vic, thought I'd quickly reply to your questions. I find that DH probably has Shayla a bit more than he had Kyson, and it's definitely more out of necessity because I need to do something else, rather than me not wanting to keep her all to myself, lol. I find that in the evenings I let DH have more snuggle and play time with her because I'm so busy during the day with the two of them that I need the evenings after Kyson is sleeping to catch up on some of the things I don't get done during the day. Having said that though, at the moment I've been trying to make a bunch of extra meals to freeze so that it's easier in the afternoons when I have to make dinner for 6 now. If I wasn't doing that then I would probably just keep holding Shayla all evening. So far I haven't found that Kyson is loosing much of my time with him. Obviously a lot of time is spent breastfeeding Shayla, but even while I'm doing that I'm able to interact and play with Kyson anyway, so he's not losing out there. Puzzles are great for us to do together during Shayla's feeds, and sometimes we watch the Wiggles and sing and dance together (well he dances, I just do some hand and foot movements, lol). Kyson is obsessed with the Wiggles Australia Day concert that we recorded on Australia Day! I swear he's learning more words from Wiggles songs than from us teaching him. Anyway, back to your questions... When we have been out with the two kids I've probably still been the most hands-on with both of them. We went to a festival and I carried Shayla in the hugabub and still felt a little "naked" when DH was pushing Kyson in the pram, hehe. And when they are both in the double pram I always push it and interact more with them than DH. Not because he doesn't want to, but because he knows it's how I prefer it anyway, lol. I must admit that I felt bad today when Kyson cut his lip just as Shalya started to cry and I had to let Shayla cry while I tended to Kyson. It's a little heartbreaking when they both want you at the same time and you can't accommodate them both. Luckily Shayla only cried for about 30 seconds and settled, and Kyson was a big brave boy, especially after I pulled out an icypole for him :)
I might give a quick update too :D Kyson is growing up so much lately! I can't believe how many words he says now, and he picks up new ones so quickly. I even watched him put one of his sandals on all by himself the other day. Some of you would have read it already on facebook, but a few days ago I got the potty out of the box for the first time, and within 5 minutes Kyson did poopoo in the potty! I'm not actually planning on toilet training him yet, and was just curious what he would do with the potty. Right now I think it's easier to just change two nappies at the same time, rather than have to ask Kyson every 20 minutes if he needs to go to the toilet, take him to the toilet, and also clean up any accidents.
Also, Shayla turned a month old today! Time is just going so fast and I get a bit upset at times knowing that this is the last time I will have a newborn and it all seems to be going so quickly. She's already been smiling for about a week now. Not that I'll complain about that though because those gorgeous smiles are amazing. She's much more generous with her smiles than Kyson was. You had to work pretty hard to get Kyson to give you a smile, but Shayla must find us hilarious, hehe.

REally quick cos I am busting for the loo and I just have to go to bed!! Vic you are more than welcome to a wrap. Remind me closer to the time. Also remember that the most likely predictors for a sucessful VBAC are previous diagnosis of a big baby, failure to progress and CDP(which is big baby for narrow pelvis). I was so pleased recently to hear about a gf who had 2 C/S who was told her 9 pound babies where to big.... She just gave birth to an 11p girl vaginally at home.... Don't let them scare you Vic. We call that antenatal scare and it doesn't help mums and it achieves nothing but making you doubt yourself. I won't go on. If you want more advice or info ask me. I have made it my mission to know as many facts as is possible. Would love to help you.

BG: Thanks mate. Natty getting better but Phoebe has it now. I guess it's inevitable. Hope you are doing ok with all the emotional stuff you have been going through. Glad the chiro got rid of that headache for you at least.
Nicky: That's great that A's letting you know when she needs a change! That's a sign of getting close to being ready... Mind you, I thought Natty was ready for yonks but it didn't happen. I am just keen to get P used to sitting on a toilet, just the feel of it etc so that she will TT a little earlier than 3.5, LOL!
How cute re the talking! I love P's chatter. There are very few actual words but I love her little voice and her intonation. I'd love it if she talked on the phone! I'd ring DH all day on Thursdays if I knew P would talk to me, LOL!
Vic: Haha, the sugar thing is going pretty well thus far. Today was my first day of actually craving sugar - I had a hankering for some Junior Mints at work today! Weird. LOL, re the courtyard incident. Needless to say it involved poo... and lots of it.
I found DH really stepped up when Phoebe was born. He and Natty did a lot more together. They would go for bushwalks and things while Phoebe and I had nana naps. I think in the first few months it was more that he and Nat gravitated together and Phoebe and I did, and when we go out it is much the same because he is the more jump-about-like-a-firecracker type and I am more sedate. But once Phoebe became more interactive, and of course once I went back to work, it evened out and he and P have quite a strong bond now. DH and I often fought about how I wouldn't let him be as hands-on with the kids as he wanted to be. I just knew that all the time he was working I had to go it alone and I didn't know how to do it differently when he was home. Now he puts Phoebe to bed when he's home in the evenings - Natty has never let him put her to bed unless I'm not home.
Don't know if that actually answers any of your questions, LOL! Kind of lost track a bit there.
Krystie: Sounds like you are going so well with the two littlies! I know how awful it is when both of them need you. I have gotten used to it a bit, and I think Natalie has become a lot more patient. But I remember the days of putting an upset Natty to bed and having P wake up at the wrong time and her crying while I settled Natty. It was really hard :( But obviously it all keeps getting easier all the time.

Time for an over due post and then a nap I think. Jemima seems to have just started in the terrible twos, of the terrible 19months? Anyway she is regularly screaming herhead off whenever she is asked or required to do something she disagrees with. So it is all fun and games. Other than that it is loads of fun. DH has settled into a routine of working on the weekends and studying fulltime mon-friday. It is nice for him to be around more and we are both trying to get fit and lose the huge amounts of weight that we have recently put on. I put on 6kg in the UK on top of the 8kg I retained after Jemima was born. Trying to eat much healthier and not drink alcohol because I think it was a big contributer for us.
Kristie- your little girl is super sweet. Glad to hear you are coping well. I am sure that it is almost as big a jump being a mum to two little ones as your first is. It is a whole nother level of multi tasking.
BG- hope you are feeling a bit better hon
I better go get that nap. I am aching all over for some reason and so think I will go and just rest.

E is much the same - she is either SUPER-cooperative, or screams in anger when asked to do something. She demands people do something, and when we don't, we're in big trouble. We spend a LOT of time talking. just talking. about why things need to happen, why some things are bad etc. i guess being an only child, we have the time to spend with her. we seem to always be talking to her about actions and consequences lol. she seems to be mastering the art of negotiation - she knows at snack time she can have a biscuit, so will try and grab three, and negotiate down to two (or 1.5 if one of us feels like sharing) - she won't share with Granma when it comes to snacks, but mummy or daddy she will happily hand food to. no idea why she won't share with granma - wonder if granma has eaten something in front of her that has upset her at some point? anyhoot, thems the breaks. she shares, and doesn't whinge about it - can't really complain if she chooses WHO to share with
E is coming ahead in leaps and bounds still. she has such a strong personality (yikes) - she will engage lots of people, but only once she has a chance to size them up first. she makes me proud every single day in one way or another. i love being around her, and spend my work days wondering how long til i can go home. what is she up to. what am i missing out on. but i'm also aware that i need to work for our family, and so i do
we are off on holidays next week - a week of just us AWAY from home and all the menial tasks. meeting up with people along the way, and just being us, together. tomorrow marks six years since C asked me out, and Friday our fifth wedding anniversary - so just being together for some of this week is sounding AWESOME to me right now
