Hello, I'm here too. I pop on every few days for a peek.
I saw the ad. Very cute!! You have a star on your hands.
All good here. DD just turned 3 and has been driving me nutty with her constant whinging. Dont know what to do about it. Can be just divine at times though and I'm sure it's all a part of wanting and trying to be more independent. DS is just gorgeous and still feels like a baby as HE ISNT WALKING YET!!!! This is a huge shock for me as DD took her first steps just before 9 months of age, where as DS couldn't give a hoot. He is way cruisy and almost totally opposite to DD in many ways. We though DD was affectionate, until DS came along. He's certainly a mummy's boy.
I gave up BF only a few weeks ago too Mel, reluctantly at first. DS was a huge booby boy. All went well though and I have my own body back now.
Been training for a little while to do an 11 km run at the end of July and feeling pretty good. Although I've always been fit, I've never been into running, but it's cheap and I can do it by myself or with others.
Working 2 days a week and working out well, although work is a low priority and I'm certainly not putting as much time into it as I did pre children. I'm learning to work smarter rather than harder.
Not much else to report other than this weekend DH and I are finally going away and leaving the kids at home. It's our first time away without the kids in 3 years!!!! Wow, where did that time go?
Hope this find you all well.
-
We're obviously all busy these days... has been very quiet in there the last few months!!
nellnell, Noah isn't walking yet either! He has only just started walking while we hold his hands, but otherwise he has just been cruising the furniture himself. He's in no rush.
He's such a gorgeous, cuddly affectionate little boy. I get so many cuddles and kisses these days. He has just started saying a few words 'gog' is dog, and 'all gone' when he's finished his dinner, drink etc., Day care is finally getting a little better. Not so sad at drop off time and he ends up having a good day each time. He was a bit upset this afternoon when DH picked him up. They said they had just changed his bum and had bad nappy rash and the skin was broken :( When I went through his bag at home, I realised they had changed his nappy TWICE all day and one of those was at 4pm. No wonder he has a sore bot. They keep telling us that we should change to disposables (we use MCN) as he wont get it then. We went away for 4 days last week and I used disposables all that time, but by day 3 his little bottom was the worst it's ever been so there goes that theory. Personally, I just think he is prone to it so frequent changes, some soothing cream and some nappy free time seem to be doing the trick when he's at home.
Anyway, it was looking much better by the time he went to bed tonight. Going to have to have words with them in the morning when I drop him off so we can try and get on top of it again. His bottom is always fine for the rest of the week and then back to day care and it gets worse again. That's my gripe with day care.... other than that, it's all good! lol
Working 3 days (15 hours total) and bored out of my brain. I sit there bored thinking about all the stuff I could be doing if I were at home. I'm not the kind of person that can just sit there... I went to work for a bit mental stimulation and it's not happening! Will stick it out until the end of the year and work out what I want to do then. Noah is changing so quickly, that I feel like I'm missing out and would love to be back at home full time again.... but ultimately, I know that I would want to work at least a few hours.
Sarah, I haven't seen the ad yet so I will have to keep an eye out!
Mel, good luck with TTC :) Hope it happens for you quickly!
enough rambling from me.... how is everyone else going?
-
Megan, I would definitely complain about only 2 nappy changes! I am pretty sure regulations say they must be changed every 2 hours even in disposibles. My boys use cloth at home and we have never had a problem with nappy rashes. I find they get more rashes when we are away and using disposibles all the time too.
Sarah, Ollie looks really grown up in the ad. Very cute. Edward is really tall but still has no hair so looks younger.
It is really funny thinking some of the babies in this group aren't walking. My boys were walking so early that I just can't imagine it any other way. Edward dances around whenever there is music and lately he has been skipping and hopping. He is actually leaving the ground! That freaks me out. He climbs on everything too. Pulls chairs from one side of the room to the other so he can climb up and get things down. They pick up all the older children's bad behaviours so early!
He has been coming out with a new word every other day lately. No sentences yet, but lots of words and general babbling.
No luck TCC before having to have a period again. Got my first 1 on Friday, nearly 7 weeks after weaning Edward. :( Over the weekend I was doubled over the cramps were so bad. I had to take super codiene painkillers just to function. It was awful. I also put on 4 kg of what I assume is water. I feel like a blimp, but I assume it is temporary. It throws my timing out too... I didn't want to go back to work next year, but I will probably have to work at least part of term 1 2011 now.
Anyway, better go,
Melanie.
-
nell, when is your run? How is training going? I did a 10km run on the weekend in ! hr and 5. I was a bit diappointed with that, but hadn't trained properly so am hoping that in the next one in August I can go under an hour. Good luck with it if it is still coming!
-
Mel, that sounds awful. All the bloating and pain. I've been lucky and haven't had a painful AF at all since she returned (and that was a year ago even with b/feeding), no noticeable bloating, nothing like that. It's weird. It all of a sudden just happens and then it's over in a couple of days. Considering all the pain I used to get before pregnancy, this is a nice change!
I can't even imagine having a toddler that's jumping and skipping and dancing around! lol When did Edward walk? I remember it was early, around 10 months or so?
Today, Noah has just been practicing standing unassisted and he's very impressed with himself! lol there wont be any jumping, skipping hopping around here for a while!! ;)
"All gone" are his words of the moment. This afternoon and tonight, everything was "all gone". Finished watching Hi 5 DVD - "all gone", Dinner when finished - "all gone", finished drink - "all gone", finished reading a book - "all gone", me emptying the washing basket - "all gone", emptying the bath - "all gone". It has been such a fun day (even though I worked half of it). I just can't believe how quickly they pick things up at this age.
Oh, and nappy rash is much better. Yesterday they changed him 3 times (I drop him off at 8.30, so let's say they changed him at 10.30, 12.30 and 2.30, and the we picked him up at 3.30) so that's much better. He is still pretty upset getting his nappy changed as obviously it hurts, and didn't end up having a bath tonight as he couldn't sit down. He tried a few times and just screamed so we just washed him with a facewasher and got him out. So, it's a bit stingy I imagine. I'm going to buy a couple of those raw silk liners and see if they help at all.
It's after midnight. I should get some sleep :)
-
Megan - glad to hear my DS is not the only slow walker. I was worried until a few weeks ago when he started taking a little interest in it. He's now able to take about 10-12 steps between furniture/people, but unfortunately often aims for his sister (expecting her to stay still) and ends up face first on the floor. He's very proud of himself when he makes it though. Great to hear that the ccc has improved with the nappy changing. One of the mums in my mothers group puts her little one in at 7.30am with a pick up of 5pm, and one day she had NO CHANGES. Appalling.
DS isn't saying any words yet. DD was a late talker but got it together by 2. It's quite weird though as our household is very verbal. I'm reading and talking all day long to both kids. Must just be in the genes.
Mel - bummer about the painful AF. Hope it gets better next time. I waas like that after DD. Luckily only had 2 cycles the UTD again. Good luck with TTC.
On that same note, I actually tested yesterday but got a BFN. Kind of relieved that it was negative. We're in the process of renovating and own 2 houses, one on the market but not likely to sell quickly. Were not really in the position financially to have another bub, but I'm so desperate to have another sometime in the next 2 years. DH isn't so keen (mainly practical reasons). See general chatter thread for more info. I can see positives in only having 2 kids, I just feel like my family isn't complete yet.
Great time in your run Mel. I'm just hoping to run without stopping! I've never been a runner so this is a huge thing for me. I'm finding that the 3-5km part is the testing bit where I have to talk myself into continuing. It's still not comfortable. Once I pass the 5 kms, I'm getting into a bit of a rhythm and could just keep going. My run is this Sunday, so I've only got a few days left to prepare, although there is not much I can do now. I'm getting over a cold atm so focussing all my attention on being well for Sunday. I'm expecting (or aiming) to complete it in 75 mins. We'll have to wait and see.
Lovely to chat again ladies. I know we are all super busy but we should do this more often! :D
-
Megan, Edward was only 8 1/2 months when he started walking. I find it hard to remember when he couldn't walk. lol. Good to hear that Noah's rash is getting better.
Nell, I still have to force myself through the first 3 km or so too. I am not a natural runner, but my New Year's resolution was to do 10km in under an hour. The sooner I can do it the sooner I can go back to running without worrying about how quickly I can do it. :) Good luck for Sunday.
Byron said only single words until he was around 2 years too. I haven't thought much at all about how much Edward says or doesn't say. I worry so much less about things the second time round, I will be surprised if Edward speaks well before he is 2.
-
Thats a great goal Mel. You're sure to be able to bowl that over soon.
I ran my 11km race on Sunday. It wasnt as bad as I thought it would be. I didn't stop (goal 1 achieved) and i came in at 67.5mins which I am stoked with (was aiming to beat 75mins). I'm thinking that if I can do this, I need something bigger and better for another goal. Half marathon???? Now that may be too m uch to bite off and chew.
-
That's right! Edward was walking well before Noah crawled!!
He tried to take a step today (without realising it, he just let go and kept moving) but went down like a sack of potatoes. Then he sat up and clapped like he always does when he tries to walk or has been standing!! He's such a dag!
I so wish I could run! I tried years ago to get into running, but found it really hard. My DH used to do fun runs, and so I started out by walking them and trying to work up to running but I just felt like I wasn't making any progress. Maybe I should try again. I'll mention it at the gym and see if they can recommend a program for me.
-
hehe, yep Edward walk before my DS crawled too. Amazing how different the LO are. Yet they catch up in the end (well most of them!). I know some kids who are amazing at anything sporting wise, but didnt walk till 18mths, and others whose literacy is amazing in Kindy - but didnt speak until they were 2.
Megan I started with the couch to 5km program (c25K). I think you might even be able to download podcasts of the 9-10 sessions. Its a 10 wk program and gradually builds you up from running for say 1 min, then walking 2 - to running 30 mins at the end of the 10 wks. It's good if you are motivated to chuck your ipod on and go out by yourself - listening to the music. The first 6 wks of this program I did with a group (not using the music - just the interval training), then took over by myself. I really only took it up as it was a cost effective way for me to keep fit - no gym fees and something I could do either with others or by myself. Ill see if I can find some info on it for you. Good on you for wanting to try again. :)
-
That sounds like something I might be able to have a go at. I joined the gym recently because I know if I didn't, I wouldn't get out and excercise. The area I live in has no footpaths, all dirt roads, very hilly and very poorly lit so it's hard to get out and about. My best bet would be a treadmill, at least until the weather is better, the days are longer and there's not footy training/games down at the local oval so I could maybe run around there.
I laughed when you said the program may start out with running 1 min, walking 2 etc. Is there a pre-program program?? lol I think I need to work my way up to running 1 minute! I best get myself on that treadmill walking for a few weeks I think. :)
-
Ollie was walking at 10 months, but 8.5 months is seriously clever! I can't keep him still! We go to kindygym to burn off some energy which he loves. He has just started jumping on the big trampoline by himself, it's so cute.
I took him for haircut number 2 this week, after our first haircut disaster I put it off for so long. But it was covering his eyes so I had to take him. I don't know how she convinced me to cut it so short, actually I don't think she did. She used the clippers and when she started it looked like he was bald, I almost cried! Ollie was hysterical, he was so upset, not sure we'll be going for the clippers again anytime soon. Once it was done though it did look pretty cute, and it will grow. It's long enough to spike up so I guess it's not that short, just looked it when you could see all the long hair on the other side. I think I need to learn how to cut hair, or find a hairdresser that's good with kids and will listen!
I'm so impressed with all the ladies that are running, or trying to start. I joined the gym and I keep doing the pilates or yoga classes, not the ones that are actually going to get me fit. You've all inspired me, I will do a class that scares me this week!
-
I understand what you mean about a class that scares you! lol I really want to try the boxing class or zumba, but I'm so uncoordinated. I usually do body pump or RPM which just involves standing or sitting in one spot - that I can handle! lol
I looked into kindygym for Noah, but couldn't find anything close by. We go to a music class every week which is good and he really enjoys. I'll enjoy it more once he's walking though because then I wont have to pick him up when we dance! It's getting harder and harder to carry him and pick him up all the time.
I can't believe Ollie has had his 2nd haircut already! :) Nothing worse than a hairdresser who doesn't listen. Might be worth hunting around for someone else who has a good reputation with kids
-
Sarah, I have a great hairdresser. She has 3 young children of her own, and she is just really good at convincing Byron to sit still while she finishes his hair. We are a long way off haircuts with Edward though. I have cut Byron's hair a few tiomes but it isn't worth the grief. It is soooo much easier to pay somone 10 dollars to do it! :)
I work with a woman who must weigh nearly 200kg and she does Zumba. If she can do it so can you girls!! I have decided that I am going to become a personal trainer sometime in the near future. We have been talking about moving back to Cairns to be closer to all the grandparents. I feel like I have been so lucky to have found the trainer I did, who is a mum and does group training sessions for $10 a pop. I would love to be able to do that for people too, and in Cairns I wouldn't be going into competition with someone who is now a friend. Plus staying fit would be my job and not just something I have to squeeze in around everything else. Now I just have to do it. Ha.

Hi everyone!
I'm new to BB so thought I'd join the thread and say hi!
We had little Isaac on the 19th April, 2009.
And little Holly on the 3rd July, 2010.
:juggle:
-
Welcome to BB :D
I am Mum to Noah, born 8th April, 2009 (but I post in this here because no one posts in the April 1-15 thread!)
It is pretty quiet in here these days.
Looking forward to hearing about your little ones :)
-
Hi and welcome iandh,
I am Melanie. I have 2 boys; Edward was born April 16 2009, Byron was born February 13 2007.
It has been quieter in here this year, but if you post you will generally spur the rest of us on to post too. :)
-
Welcome iandh (I'm guessing thats for Issac and Holly)
I'm nell and my DS was born on 26th April 2009 and I also have a DD born in June 2007.
You certainly have your hands full with a 15month old and 4 week old.
Mel - Way to go. That's awesome that you want to change your career and do something new. It would be great doing your exercise while you were getting paid to do it, rather than having to fit it into your day. I think I read a post about you not being happy at work. How is it all going now? I've certainly found that work is not my priority now that I have my beautiful kids and I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with the education system and our role and responsibilities. It seems to be growing each and every day. I'd love to get out too but the cost of retraining in something else, then starting out at the bottom of the pay scale again.
Megan - how's the gym going?
-
Hi girls!
Thanks for the warm welcome!
I'll tell you a little about myself....
I live in Brisbane, I'm 35 years old. I've been married for 2 years. We have 2 babies - Isaac 15 months and Holly 5 weeks. Before we had babies we lived in Winton (Outback QLD) where i was teaching.
I look forward to getting to know you all :)
Hope you are all having a lovely day!
Meg
-
iandh, I am in Brisbane too, near Chermside.
Nell, I am certainly not enjoying teaching like I used to. Just like you said, they just keep giving us more and more to do on top of planning and teaching and I just feel overwhelmed. That combined with my wanting to just be home with the boys makes it pretty painful. Even if I don't end up doing the PT training I won't be going back to teach for a number of years after the next bub.
Do you think you will really go for the half marathon? It is just sooo much further than the 10km runs I have been doing. I wish there was something in between. My trainer did her first marathon last weekend... I just can't imagine how painful it must be to run 42 kms!
Anyway... we had the rest of our floors polished over the last school holidays, so the whole house is now timber floors. I went and bought a big shaggy rug for the lounge this morning and the boys have been rolling all over it ever since. I would probably lie on it too if I was smaller. :)
I took Edward's measurements for the first time in ages and he is now 13kg and 83cm tall. I checked Byron's red book and they are almost exactly the same size at the same age. Lucky their faces aren't any more similar or we wouldn't be able to tell who was who in their photos. It is hard enough anyway... Edward is usually wearing Byron's hand-me-downs, so they are even dressed the same. :)
Better go, I have LOTS of washing to do. Geez little boys go through a lot of clothes each week!! Hope you are all well.
-
Hi everyone,
Just a quick one as I dont get onto the computer until mid next week again (with the weekend and work - ya know)
Meg - Teacher here too. That makes 3 so far. Eeeek. I'm nsw based but started in the west, in the kimberley. Was fab, an experience of a lifetime. Hubby and I had to get out as we could have stayed indefinately. We found we were missing out on too much of friends and families lives - marriages, kids etc. Nice to have a few luxuries too (like decent fresh fruit and veg).
Mel - wouldn't it be nice not to have to work? Awesome that you won't have to go back for a few years after next bub. Noticed you only have a week til testing. GL. Half marathon - mmmmm, Yeah, it's double what ive been doing but there doesn't seem to be anything in between. I dont know how much it will achieve either and whether I'm setting myself a pointless goal. It's not actually set yet as I'm thinking about it a little more. I know I'm not going to be out in the heat of summer running like I have been.
awww - DS awake! doesnt sleep much during day anymore :(
-
I joined the TTC thread, and they are up to thread 22 for the year, and already on page 7 of the new thread started yesterday. lol. Gee we are quiet in here!!
Nell, DH said the other night that he fully expects me to want a 4th baby so I can take even more time off work. He knows me well. lol. I am really hoping I am UTD this cycle, otherwise I will be back at work for the whole 12 weeks of term 1 next year. Whoever the genius was who decided on the QLD school terms for next year is an idiot!
-
Mel, I hope you get that BFP this month. That 12 week term sounds like a killer. The 11 week term 2 here this year seemed bad enough and I'm not a teacher or have any kids at school, but everyone was complaining about it. Only a bright spark would come up with 12 weeks!
As for the TTC thread, I was thinking of joining but now that you've mentioned how busy it is I don't think I will. I'll never keep up!
Nell, gym is going ok. At least I'm going. I am getting over my 5th illness this winter. Since the end of May I had back to back Flu/head cold/tonsilitis which lasted 5 weeks all up. Then a nasty case of gastro thanks to DH that lasted 48 hellish hours. Three weeks after all that was over I got another cold that annoyingly lasted 2 weeks. Over it. Over germs, over winter and over snotty noses! lol It's been hard getting back into it, but I am slowly. Just doing my program they've worked out for me and when I feel a bit more ready I might work up to some running. Going to try Zumba on Monday for a bit of a laugh. I'll probably fall over my own feet, so it should be interesting!
I've lost 2kg this week by going to the gym more and making a point to eat well. I can't believe how much better I feel for it after just a week. I'm even sleeping better - no caffeine or sugar probably helps that!
As for Noah.. 16 months last week and still not walking! A couple of times this week it's looked like he was going to take a step without holding on, but then just got down to crawl. When I ask him if he wants to go for a walk, he stands up, holds on to some furniture or me and walks on the spot stamping his feet! lol He just needs that little bit of extra confidence and I don't know if I could be doing anything else to help him, or if I should just leave him?
-
Thought I'd pop in as we were on such a roll a few weeks ago.
Mel - gosh, a 12 wk term sounds terrible. I don't even know what ours is but if you have 12 we've probably got 11. There must be a public holiday in there somewhere though. Noticed your signature - sorry to hear. Throwing lots of baby dust your way for this cycle.
Megan - Awesome about the weight loss and heading to the gym more. My SIL does Zumba and thinks it's fab. How did you find your first class? I've so got to get myself in order with eating well again. I'm a serious carb addict and when I'm at home, usually skip lunch (or eat what the kids don't). That sounds terrible but I hate the waste. I need to bite the bullet and get back on track with my eating. How have you cut out sugar? Just added sugar or are you limiting total sugars in all foods you eat? Just interested as I need to reduce my carb intake, along with sugar and start munching on vegetable and up my protein as well.
How's Noah going with his walking? There probably isn't much you can do to help. He'll do it in his own time. I just walked behind DS and held his hands heaps, and we borrowed a little push around walker thing which helped his confidence. He had it or about 3 weeks then took off.
Meg - How's it all going?
Anyone know how Cass is and what she's up to?
-
Nell, was wondering about Cass myself. I just left a message on her private page as I thought maybe we had dropped off her subscribed threads list.
I don't think there are any public holidays in the 12 week term. In fact I may have to check that we don't lose Anzac Day as it will be so close to Easter. I am disappointed about not being UTD but in a way it is good as I have my last 10km run of the year on Sunday and now I don't have to worry about overheating or anything. I also got to get my hair coloured properly on the weekend which I wouldn't have done if I was pg.
Megan, are you keeping up the workouts? I found that it really becomes part of your routine after a while and now I miss it if I don't fit enough training sessions each week. I agree with Nell that there isn;'t much you can do to help Noah with his walking except hold his hands and encourage him. He is only 16 months after all, if he gets to 2 and still isn't walking then worry. :)
-
Nell, it's mainly just added sugar that I have cut out. 98% of what I am eating is just fruit & veg and meat. I'm not eating pasta, rice or bread at the moment either. I'm a bit of a carb addict and it's made a huge difference. I don't deny myself completely though. I look forward to one meal per week where I cook up a yummy pasta dish or risotto. My diet pretty much consists of cereal for brekky, fruit at morning tea, salad & some kind of protein for lunch, more fruit and then loads of veggies for dinner. I've realised how much a pick at food when I'm cooking, so I've cut that out too. 4kgs down now, but I was pretty sick last week so don't know how much of that was related to tonsilitis.
I think the day after my last post, I came down with tonsilitis again for the 2nd time in 2 months. I was in a pretty bad way and ended up at the doctors one morning at about 5am. I couldn't get my temp down, was struggling to get down any tablets. It was horrible. A few days later DH ended up with it too. It's only been since yesterday I've started to feel normal again. So, I never did get to that zumba class. touch wood I'm not sick next week and can go then.
We're off to sydney tomorrow for 4 days. Can't wait. Hope the weather is nice because I am so over the cold and wet miserable melbourne weather lately. Noah's first flight, so I hope it goes well.
Noah is still not walking. I actually don't have a walker for him. Our house is tiny, so I never bought one as we just don't have the room. I might see if I can find one of those small wooden trolley things that he can push around. That might encourage him a bit more. Lately he doesn't even want to hold hands and walk, he'll just walk holding the furniture.
Better go and finish packing... I can't believe how much stuff you take on holiday when you have a little person. lol
-
Hi girls
Hope you are all well. I haven't posted anything for a while - things have been hectic with the little ones, as you all would understand :)
This week my beautiful little baby boy has started throwing tantrums! A couple of times a day, he'll just start screaming as loud as he can and stomps his little feet and makes tight little fists with his little hands, this lasts for about 20 seconds, then he's done. - my little baby seems to be trying out The Terrible 2's a little early!
Have any of you had this pleasure yet? It seems a little early to me, or is this normal for this age? I'm not even sure how I'm meant to react to tamtrums - they still catch me by surprise because he's always been such a delightful, happy boy!
-
Hi girls,
there was a whole bunch of new posts just before the site crashed. I wonder whether the new girls will be back?
How are you all?
iandh, you aren't alone with the tantrums. Don't believe anyone who tells you it is only 2 that is terrible, they can be terrible whenever they want to. Luckily they are cute enough of the time to make up for it. Try not to respond to his tantrums at all, especially at this age, just distract him if they start to last longer.
Megan, have you managed to stay well for a while? You hadn't had a good run. Is Noah walking yet?
How are you going Nell? Training for that half marathon yet?
I didn't manage to get UTD in time to avoid term 1 of next year, but I will be on holidays as of the easter holidays. I got a BFP today!! Still very early so don't want to officially announce it yet, but I am pretty excited. :)
Edward is sooo clever. He is copying things I say all the time, and jumping with both feet together. He has been sleeping pretty well, and is showing signs that he wants to use the toilet. He starts grabbing at his nappy and nods if you ask if he wants to do a wee. As yet he just sits on the toilet, pulls off bits of toilet paper and puts them in the toilet, but I don't think it will be long before he at least starts doing the occasional wee in the toilet.
Have to go drop DH at the bowls club... he has a bucks party to go to. Hope you are all well,
Mel
-
Hey Mel... OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :leap::confetti: that is soooo awesome! I did post before the crash and thank you for sending me a msg :) I must admit, I used to check here but no one seemed to be talking and then I forgot about it
Elijah is becoming a climber and works out how to use things to get higher lol. He is a KING tanty thrower when he really wants to, kicks and squeals like a pig haha. He is the sweetest though and comes and gives me big cuddles and then goes off to play more. He doesn't talk much more than ta, dada, mum but Oskar didn't either. Now I can't get him to stop! We're in the middle of trying to sell our house. Saw one today that I really like but we're not going to put an offer yet cos there's no offer on ours so it makes it hard. We need to know what we'll be getting so we know what we've got to play with. I've also started studying counselling via online through Aust College of Applied Pyshcology. I'm just doing one module which requires about an hour per day which I'm hoping is doable! This week has been hard cos Oskar got a tummy bug last weekend then Elijah got it Thursday then I had it yesterday!
Anyway, I've subscribed to this so hopefully it keeps reminding me when someone posts :)
How is everyone else?
-
Cass is back!!! Woo. :) lol at forgetting about our thread. There are very few of the original ladies who post anymore. I often wonder how everyone is going.
Sounds like you have heaps going on. Are you going to stay in the same area or is it going to be a big move? We are having plans drawn up to raise and build under our house. We looked around alot but anything around wavell heights/ nundah area with 4 or more bedrooms is like $1 million. Stuff that!!
Byron didn't say much for a long time but Edward is a chatter box! He says 'dinosaur', and 'outside', and 'Byron', and makes endless animal noises etc. It just blows me away.
Anyway, I am exhausted. Nice to know you didn't forget who we were completely :) Goodnight all.

Oh yeah that is REALLY expensive around those areas! What about a bit further north? We're hoping to stay in the same area if we can. We were contemplating a bigger move but I really don't want to lose our doctor... sounds stupid I know... but OMG the health system is so screwed that I just don't want to be a number... he's awesome and if the kids are sick they squeeze them in, none of this crap about oh we're booked out for 3+ days like heaps of them are or "we're not taking new patients" ... that's kinda funny though cos my doctor isn't taking new patients either. Fingers crossed!!! Just need someone to put a good offer on our place so we can maybe get something like the one we saw today... oooh so nice *sighs* I'm in love lol. On 1/4 acre too.

We are in Wavell now and really like the location. DH works in Milton so it isn't ideal to move further out. We also need to be near the train line so it is easy for DH to get to work. We bought at a good time so our mortgage is 'small' by current standards so the $200,000 or so it will cost to make our house into a 5 bed, 2 bath mansion is the best option by far. Not necessarily the most convenient, but that can't be helped.
I completely understand the dr thing. We just go to the medical centre here, but we generally get the same dr and we haven't ever had trouble getting in. The same nurse always does their shots. That reminds me... more needles coming up soon. Not long before Oskar and Byron will be needing their 4yr needles too!!
FX that you get an offer soon, maybe the beautiful house will still be on the market.
Ok, where are the rest of you?
-
Congrats Mel!!!! yay.
Have been off line for more than 2 weeks. We have a stupid wireless modem for internet and phone and it crashed for the second time. I'm over this stupid company (dont know whether I'm allowed to mention them) and their pathetic service.
Welcome back Cass. Good luck with the house selling and buying. Very exciting.
AFM - I'm kicking my but back into gear and set myself a few challenges. I've been a bit lazy over the past 2 months and even though I still manages to do the bridge run a few weeks ago (9km), I've put on about 4 kg this winter and I'm not happy about it. I'm improving my eating habits and upping the exercise. Mel - I have decided to aim for a half marathon, but won't do it until the Sydney running festival next September. I dont want to become a long distance runner but I need something to challenge me and keep me on track. I'd do it once and probably never again. Suppose it's something I want to tick off on my things I'd like to achieve box.
Both my kids are doing well. DD driving me nuts with her talking.........it goes on and on and on and on. You get the idea. We've just moved her into a queen bed (lucky girl) and DS into a matress on the floor. We went on holidays and refused to sleep in the port-a-cot so ended up on the floor, and he coped so well that that we bit the bullet and dismantled the cot. Has made me sad though as DH is adament that we get rid of the baby gear - and I'm soooooo not ready for that. I dont think Ill be able to change his mind though.
Not much else happening.......
-
Wow, getting rid of the baby gear!! Even if I wasn't having another one I don't think I would be able to do that yet.
We have had to put in a normal phone since we got our wireless modem. The cordless phone seems to interfere with the signal. Pretty annoying, but better than cords running all over the place.
Good on you aiming for the half. I think that my trainer would have tried to get me to do one if I hadn't gone and gotten UTD. lol. I plan to keep training and doing moderate running but I do get out of the hardcore stuff for another 12ish months. :)
Edward climbed out of his cot last night, well was in the process of climbing out when I walked in. That started the bed conversations. Do we get a bunk bed for the boys and they can share a room for 9 months or so until we get the extensions done? I think they would like sharing a room, but not so sure Byron would like giving up his double bed.
How is the house stuff going, Cass? Had any interest in your place yet?
AFM, DH thought it was a good idea to tell Byron I was having a baby. Ever since Byron has been telling me I am having a girl baby and making up names for her. This morning's suggestions were peanut paste, and poo ballerina. He thinks he is hilarious!!
Edward is home sick today. We had such a good run over winter, but he has had a fever that comes and goes, and a nasty cough, so a day off it is. He hasn't been sleeping well because of the cough and blocked nose so I am back in exhaustion land. Not great when I am starting to feel the pg tired coming on too. I wonder how I will cope this time with 2 kids to chase around???

Wavell... as in near Northgate etc?? That's not that far from me! We need to catch up!
No luck so far with the house. I'm OVER the RE guy, he's really p!ssing me off lol. He's just annoying now and I keep thinking, listen dude we're not desperate to sell so back the EFF off!!! haha. This is my house... (hopefully I'm allowed to link?) Burpengary, contact agent - House for Sale #106832480 - realestate.com.au
Mel, oh I forgot the older kiddies were up for needles soon! Elijah will prob get his next week... or maybe week after. Elijah is OBSESSED with Iggle Piggle ... omg, he gets the DVD out and annoys you until you put it on for him lol. He lets out an excited squeal and claps, then he dances to the music... it's pretty cute.
Getting rid of baby gear is hard. I've sold stuff to my friend across the road... but it's not really like parting with it in some ways, cos I get to see it so it's not like it's GONE haha.
Mel, idea... could the boys share the double? Personally I don't like bunks too much... especially when the little ones try to copy the bigger ones!! Scares the crap out of me.
-
Yes, Cass, Wavell is near Northgate. It really isn't far, we are just slack... or at least I am! Wednesday and Friday are my free days.
The boys could share, but Byron moves around heaps in his sleep so I don't think Edward would get much sleep if he had to be in a bed with him. I am a bit funny about bunks too which was why I wanted to keep Edward in the cot until we have extra rooms for the boys to both have normal beds. Ideally I would like to put the double bed back into the spare room (when we have one again) so both boys will get single beds then anyway. DH thinks we should just get bunks that you can put as separate beds too so the bunk situation is temporary.
Real Estate is way cheaper out in Burpengary! Why are you moving? Just want a change or more space? Did you get the kitchen done recently? The drafty is drawing up the preliminary drawings for our extensions at the moment so will hopefully get to see the first round of stuff in a week or so. A big new kitchen (with a dishwasher) is one of the things I am looking forward to most of all.

Oh cool.... it'll have to be a Friday cos Oskar goes to kindy Wed. We're selling cos we want lowset. This would be ok if the living was downstairs and just the bedroom kinda stuff upstairs.... it's hard having kitchen and that up when they want to play outside. I have so much I need to do that I can't cos I can't do it if they're playing.... so it just remains not done lol. The kitchen, yep, it's actually just a face lift... painted the cupboards a different colour but changed the whole look!
Here is a house I like... check the kitchen out!! It looks heaps better IRL than the pic.... only prob with this house is it only has one bathroom, no ensuite!!! Like everything else about it though....4 Weber Ct, Burpengary, Qld 4505 - House for Sale #106827099 - realestate.com.au

We will have pretty much just bedrooms and a little tv room upstairs and all the living stuff downstairs. Will be great!
That is the sort of kitchen I want. Room for everything. It is unusual for a house like that to only have 1 bathroom. At least it has a separate bath and toilet. Ours are combined ATM, and we only have a shower. Having a second bathroom will be awesome too.
Nice big block. Now you just need someone to buy your place.

I'm back!! Not that I've been anywhere, but I am guilty of forgetting about this thread too! lol
Congratulations Mel!!!! :D When does that make you due? May sometime? That's so exciting. :)
Cass, good to see you back :) Good luck with selling your house. I had to laugh at one of your photos, as we have the same toys lined up against the wall here. The giraffe, then that ride on thing and then 2 toy boxes!
Well, Noah is walking! Started about a month ago, so at 17 months. He did it a few times and then didn't walk for a week or so and then just took off and walks everywhere. He's running already, and was running around my mum's property last weekend checking out all the animals. He has been so good lately. He is always happy, sleeps 13 hours straight overnight, he now loves day care and is finally becoming a bit more outgoing after going through a really shy stage for a while there. I've reached the point where I really want another baby now. Hopefully it happens soon.
Well, this must be the thread for extending/buying houses!! We're in the process of getting our house extended. We had the plans drawn up back in Feb and just got the planning permit approved about a month ago. We're currently going through the quoting stage and our builder (who is a family friend) is getting a few last bits and pieces together for the building surveyor for the building permit. Then it's finance, and then hopefully we can build! It has been a long process, made even longer by the bush fires down here last year with all the new restrictions (we're in a high danger area). To think we started out at the beginning of the year wanting to be done by the end of the year. Wishful thinking! Our house is only a tiny 2 bdrm, so we're adding a main bedroom with ensuite & WIR, living area, and a laundry (which is currently have in our bathroom - when I move all that stuff into a new laundry I can finally put a bath in the existing bathroom).
Mel, I haven't had much luck lately and just had another nasty cold and ear infection that lasted 2 weeks. Started feeling back to normal on Monday and today started to get a sore throat again. We had no electricity for about 18 hours from 9.30 last night due to power lines down from a big storm and it was freezing. I couldn't find one of the dogs, so went out in the freezing rain looking for her and today I get a sore throat. I don't know what to do. I've been eating pretty well, and even having oranges to up my vit c (and I'm really not a fan). I just can't seem to catch a break. So, going to gym is a bit all over the place. Didn't go for 2 weeks, then went twice this week and body pump almost killed me! There's no consistency so I'm getting nowhere fast.
Anyway, since i feel like I'm getting sick again I should go and get some sleep :)
-
Sounds great Mel... I think I'd be happier with our house if the setup was more like that. The only downside then would be sorting through clothes lol. I have got so many to go through which don't fit either of them but I can't if Elijah is around cos he "helps" me but if he's sleeping I can't either lol. Catch 22!
Megan... hope you feel better! We had a bad run this year too. I hate being sick and I hate it even more when you still have kiddies to look after cos it just makes it all harder when you just want to lay down and sleep! Hope your extensions get started soon. It really is such a long process isn't it, crazy really. I don't understand why it needs to take so long to be honest. Noah... YAY!!! You're kinda grateful they've taken so long once they're running though hehe. I know Oskar was 15 months and I had others commenting on it and I said well I don't care, I can still catch him right now!! lol. ...... so the wanting another bub... does that mean you guys are TTC??? It's so exciting hehe. I think we're done, I'd like another (I certainly have days where no way in hell would I want one lol) but it's more for health reasons that I think we're done.
