Babies born~April 16th-30th 2009 #2

Yep, we are TTC but I can't help wondering if it will ever happen since it took nearly 4 years to have Noah. We'll just have to wait and see. I really don't want to go through any more IVF so I am trying to convince myself that Noah will be ok as an only child. Ideally, two would be perfect and we would stop there. Fingers crossed.

I found this fantastic play group and went for the first time today. I spoke to an OT who was there about how long it took Noah to walk. She talked about how good crawling was for them. The movement of arms and legs at the same time is good for left/right brain fusion. Interesting. Noah crawled for 10 months so he should be a genius!!! lol

I'm off for a fun afternoon of spring cleaning. I need to attack the kitchen cupboards. I've had this nesting instinct lately for some reason. It's weird. I didn't even nest while I was pregnant!

Try not to actually think about the TTC ;) Funny thing for a lot of people I know who had trouble conceiving first time was they got pg a lot faster and easier second time. It's like your body goes...oooooh yeah I know how to do that, I remember!! The more you worry or stress or think about it... it actually makes it harder cos your mind is so powerful.

Awesome about playgroup! Of course Noah will be a genius... all our bubs will be ;) My mum used to say how Oskar NEEDED to crawl and clap at certain times.. like he didn't clap (on purpose) for a long time and mum used to FORCE him and then crawling... pfft he didn't crawl at all! He bum shuffled and mum used to try to FORCE him and he'd bawl his little eyes out. He walked at 15 months and has no issues (other than hearing hahahah typical 3 yr old) with his skills or anything else.

Megan, I know peopler who found TTC easier the second time around. FX that is the case for you guys!
That is great the Noah has joined the walkers. It is amazing how quickly they start running one they decide they can walk. That sucks about being sick all winter. I hope the sore throat doesn't last long. The weather is cold enough in Bris today, I can only imagine that Melbourne is gross if it is wet and stormy like it is here.
lol at nesting. I have never had the nesting bug. Maybe I will get it this time round... DH would be pleased!

I had to laugh, Cass, at sometimes thinking there is no way you would want another kid. I think that kids know when you are UTD and start being really naughty so you wonder why you got pg again. The week after I found out I was pg, Edward was the biggest handful he has ever been. I am pretty sure I remember Byron starting to be a monster when I was pg with Edward too. Maybe it is just 18 months is the start of the trouble time with my boys??
And I know my boys are geniuses. I have always claimed that is why they can be so difficult and argumentative. They are just too smart for their little minds to deal with yet. lol. It could be true. :)

Hi everyone, can i join in here too? My DD was born 20th April, hitting 18 months on Wednesday. She's all booked in for her needle then too. My DD is a happy crawler & furniture cruiser right now, she'll let go for a few seconds, realise she has then freaks & grabs whatever/whoever is closest to her. She is now really starting to get into climbing too. She still happily does her baby babble but is trying to sound out more words, for now she says mum, dad & nanna.

Yay to those getting house exstentions. This is something we also want to do to our house. Our thinking is although it inconvenient for a bit it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying & moving. We won't even be able to think about this till next year or the year after at least.

Edward is sleeping again, thank goodness! Still getting up around 5.30 with the sun, but better than broken sleep. We will be going in for needles on Friday. 18 months is where they start to work out what is happening before they get the needle. Luckily there is only the 1.
Edward just keeps amazing me with how much he can say. When you read to him, he copies all the words. And he is even starting to sing a bit. He sings to some of twinkle twinkle and row row row your boat. His language skills are so much more advanced than Byron's were!

Anyway, should be making dinner, better go. Hope you are all well.

Technically I belong in the next thread but i have no idea where it is and everyone is quiet? DD1 born 10 May and we are TTC#2 now. We live in Brisbane but looking to move to the northside, anywhere from Naragbah to Caboolture. Seems there is a few of us in that area!

DD1 walked at 9 months and was fully mobile at 10 months, she is running and jumping and dancing now at 17 months, it is fun to watch, although she is probably a littlel behind in her language skills.

I will read back a bit and catch up but in the mean time.. nice to meet you all (some of you I already know!).

We're in the reno process too. Bought a 1970s house a few years ago with an attractive turret on top. It is boxy and we want to open it up a little and make it more user friendly. Also adding another bedroom. We're doing most of the work ourselves (by that I mean I'll be looking after the kids while DH does the actual work!).

Went to a Zumba class last night - what a crack up. It was fantastic fun but gosh I wish I could move my butt and hips like you're supposed to. Trying to add a little variety to my exercise routine as it's getting boring.

Off this weekend for a childfree 2 nights away. Group of friends, Hunter Valley, wine, sleepins, no dinner prep, no nappies, no baths, ahhhhhh. Sounds good already. I LOVE my kids but ahhhhh, this will be good.

Nellnell ~ Thanx for the welcome. I'd love to do Zumba too but with my DH having a FIFO job during the week & me doing weekend work it's rather hard. We're currently arranging some central heating or reverse ducted (depending on cost), front of house being rendored & putting up a carport.

AFU ~ MissA was 18 months on the 20th, she had her vax done on the 25th. She was unsettled for a good 24hrs after it too, got up to her a couple times during the night & she was super sensitive aswell. She recently cut 4 molars & now it looks like all 4 eye teeth are about ready to break the skin. Her latest trick is she's learnt how to do a diamond with her fingers for twinkle, twinkle little star, so now she does it randomly. It's the cutest thing.

MissA had her 18 month check-up last Wednesday, we saw her pead for this. I'm now glad i did her check-up through him. We found that MissA is extremely flexible in both her feet & knees which is contributing to her not walking un-aided yet, he could bend her feet & legs totally sideways(inwards & outwards) & she didn't even flinch as he did this. So we now need to get her some supportive ankleboots/shoes to help with this. He also reccomended kindergym which i already organised a trial visit to next week & she's starting swimming lessons tomorrow which he also reccomended to help strengthen her ligaments/muscles in her feet/legs.

Her fontinelle is still open(i got told at birth it was rather large) so i had to put poor MissA through a bloodtest as he just wants to check her iron levels, thyroid, calcium & vit d levels too. He's not concerned but just wants to check them anyway. We also have to keep an eye on her speech & try to encourage her to say more words. We go back in 3 months for a follow up. Apart from those few things he's very happy with her. I'm feeling a bit mixed about how today went, i'm a bit concerned with the ligaments issue & the slight speech issue he's found. At least now we can get onto fixing these issues.

I phoned her CCC last Thursday & they're now working together with us to get on top of these issues & get them sorted out quickly. I figured they're trained for this sort of stuff so why not use their knowledge to DD's advantage. They're being great & have set up a book which they wright what they've done with her so we can continue it at home.

Sorry I have been missing too, I do try and read what everyone is up to, but I never seem to be able to finish a reply!

Ollie is doing really well, he was 18 months yesterday. He had a nasty case of croup but it's all cleared up now and he's back to his happy little self.

We bought him a balance bike for Christmas, but he kept crashing his little trike going over bumps and turning too quickly, so we've given him the big bike early. He is zooming along! He looks so cute, so tiny zooming along on a two wheeler bike. We couldn't find one small enough so we had to be crafty and find a way to lower the seat. So far so good.

He jumps everywhere, his new trick is jumping off things, anything he can find to stand on that isn't too high and he jumps off it. Walking anywhere takes us so long because he has to stop every few seconds and jump, it makes me laugh every time.

Good luck to everyone that renovating, and selling, I'd love a new house, only because it would be clean! I need to seriously do a big spring clean, might be time for a garage sale I think.

Sarah, lol at wanting a new house becaus it will be clean. The thought of all the extra rooms that will having to be cleaned is starting to worry me.
I am glad Ollie is over his croup. It was really scary when Edward had it... such an awful cough!
It is great that Ollie is riding a big bike. Edward tries to ride Byron's bikes but isn't quite tall enough yet. We could probably adjust one of them so that he could ride it, but that is Byron's good one, so maybe we will get a second one for xmas.
We get lots of jumping here too. We were given a swing set by DH's boss a couple of weeks ago as his kids have outgrown it. Edward climbs onto the double swing and jumps over to the rings and swings back and forth. No fear at all!!

Blueiris, it is great the the CCC is working with you. I just had to go in and check Edward's fontanelle. lol. I don't remember them checking it, but it is closed. Does MissA communicate with you at all? DS1 said very little at 18 months, but the dr wasn't at all concerned, and by about 2 he was blabbering constantly. I would focus on the ligament stuff if I were you, unless there is no signs of speech at all, of course.
Edward has had all his teeth (except the 2 yr molars) for ages now. I have forgotten all about teething. I am sure I will remember quick smart when the last molars decide to show up though... won't be too far away either if his big brother is anything to go by.
How do you go with your DH doing FIFO? Is he back every weekend or gone for a couple of weeks at a time. I am not sure I would cope very well.

Candice, I haven't welcomed you yet. But I saw that you had banned yourself from BB, so could be a while before you receive your welcome. :)
Sounds like X would have given Edward a run for his money with her walking. I love that my boys have been on their feet early, means I disn't have to carry them everywhere. Don't worry about the talking, she will get there. As long as she is clearly hearing you and can communicate a little then there isn't anything to worry about.

Berrme - MissA can say mum, dad & nanna easily. She's now starting to DS ta more often & I swear she says wow too. It does sound like she's trying to sound out more words. We are focusing on the ligament issue more than the speech/gross motor skills. Her pardon did say he's not concerned but just wants to get on top of these things now as we've found them early. My DH is home over the weekends which helps. MissA is now a real daddies girl because of it.

Mel, I know what you mean about having more rooms to clean, my theory is there would be more space to store things so there'd be less stuff laying around, that's my theory anyway. Until we get a bigger house and then I'll probably have to hire a cleaner! lol

I had a little operation this morning to fix a complication from when I had Ollie. I'm home now, feeling a bit woosy and sore but so glad it's over. Hopefully this will mean we can start ttc when the timing is right.

How cute that our babies are starting to talk. Ollie's favourite phrase is uh oh. Whenever something goes a bit wrong - uh oh! He can tip his dinner upside down, but if it's followed by an uh oh, I can't help but giggle.

Just a quick one from me. We had a bit of excitement here on Monday, our DD finally took a single step on her own. We're so proud of her. Looks like all the work being put in to strengththen her legs is starting to pay off already. I dare say she'll be walking properly by Xmas now.

Blueiris, that is fantastic that DD has started to take steps! What a great xmas present that will be for everyone. :)
It is good that your DH is home on weekends. It is only bedtime that I find difficult when DH is away, but I guess you get used to doing that by yourself. Was easier with only 1 to put to bed too. Don't know how it will work with 3 when DH is away for the night?

Sarah, I hope you are right about more space meaning a cleaner house. I certainly like your thinking. :)
We get a lot of "uh oh" and "oh dear" around here too. That and "no, stop it, i don't like it" whilst waving his finger in the air. Cracks me up every time. I also got told by DS1 the other day that he was "disgusting by my behaviour". lol. Between the 2 of them I am in stitches most of the time.
I hope your soreness is long gone and the op did the job. Are you guys thinking of TTC again soon?

AFU, Edward just seems so grown up. He gives directions as to what he wants to eat and when he wants it. He climbs on everything and runs at a cracking pace. He is acting like he wants to use the toilet, no success yet, but likes to sit on the toilet. I even had to give him a hair cut. He really isn't a baby anymore. :( I want the next one to stay little for longer.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner Mel. Thanks, heaps better now. Had an infection, got sick, wasn't nice, but hopefully it's all over now. We would like to have another baby soonish, not quite yet though. Most of my mothers group all have number 2 already, in one way it makes me really excited to think about a little brother or sister for Ollie, on the other hand, I'm really enjoying sleeping through the night!

"Disgusting by your behaviour" - that is so cute! Your boys sound adorable. Ollie's latest word is please, he can do whatever he wants if he says please, it's the cutest thing I've ever heard :D

Loves going out in the garden looking for lady beetles cos they're his friends lol. I could just about write a book a day on his antics I reckon. Next year he's doing pre prep at his kindy.. so 2 days a week. Can't believe school the year after! :(

Sarah, good to hear you're better. I loved the sleeping through too lol then I got myself a bad sleeper and it took a long time for him to be reasonable and now I class him as fairly good. He seems to be very weather affected though and really feels the heat. Doesn't seem to worry him during the day so much but at night he seems to be unsettled if too warm. If we put the air con on though, he sleep a LOT better. Don't know how my hip pocket will cope with that luxury for him though lol. So, we do what we need to so that we get to sleep.

Sarah and Mel.. you guys must have talkers like my Oskar lol... Elijah, on the other hand is a little man of few words still. He's funny as though. He does his version of a jump with sound effects and all. Very cute. He gets his point across with grunting, pointing, taking my hand and dragging me to where he wants me or to show me something. If he wants to watch a DVD, he either stands there "calling" you or takes you there by the hand... then you have to take them all down for him.. about a dozen and he flicks through, finds the one he wants (he knows the pictures and colours) and he knows how to open the case and put it in the player lol. HE LOVES dancing and does dance actions to some of the Yo Gabba Gabba ones.... so adorable... chubby hands in the air then wiggle wiggle lol.

Sorry, I haven't read through again to see anything more that's been going on. I get to read but not reply a lot of the time. This week though has been really rather awful :( A really good friend of mine went into early labour at 30 weeks but they managed to stop it... but just Tuesday gone, at 35 weeks, her little man Patrick passed away. I'm not sure of the finer details other than that. I'm utterly devastated and so heartbroken for her. It just hurts me so much, my heart just aches and I can only imagine what her pain is like if mine is like this. I have bought her a beautiful willow tree figurine, which is holding a butterfly, to give to her when she is up to spending some time with me. I just want to wrap my arms around her and take this all away, just make it stop and not be happening. I just feel so helpless.

Anyway, sorry to end on such a sad note.

Hi Girls

Im so sorry i have been MIA for sooooo long now but 2010 hasnt been a great year for us..fingers crossed for 2011. Jacob was hospitalised just after his 1st birthday with pnuemonia which DH managed to get straight after. DH was hit pretty hard and ended up in ICU with a suspected heart attack. Long story short they realised he had an underlying heart problem that was potentially lethal so he had surgery in late June. Then darling Jacob broke his arm the week daddy came home. Things were going ok until a couple of months ago when my mum became very ill and ended up with a spinal fusion but while in hospital she developed pnuemonia too and also spent weeks in hospital.
Jacob is over 19 months old now and still not walking but like MissA he has hyperflexibility and 'poor tone' though he started taking a few steps tonight (about 5) so fingers crossed he is walking soon. He is still only a light weight at just under 12kg but all arms and legs. he wasnt talking much either up until about 6 weeks ago but now he copies everything. Today after Seasame Street he crawled about saying 'nine'. He isnt climbing at all and is still trying to work out for he can cart things with him his current preference is bum shuffling but anyway he comes i just adore him.
I too have been getting really clucky again and as DH and I have been TTC since March without any joy we will most likely use some of our snowbubs mid next year. Well I enjoyed reading your posts and will try to check in more often but ironically like many of you im training to be a teacher in between everything else but have a break from now until March when our little babies are almost 2 :(

Cass, that is very sad about your friend's bub. I get very upset at the thought of losing a baby so late. When I was pregnant with Byron a woman I work with lost one of her twins to SIDS, and then about a fortnight later another woman from work had a stillbirth. I was a mess, so I can only imagine what it was like for them. Just not fair!
I am constantly being told detailed tales of trips to the zoo and Bron's friends the monkeys. etc etc. Byron also takes other people's stories and retells them as his own but with extra details. Isn't it funny how all kids do such similar things at the same age. Edward sings songs with actions and has started putting words together like 'Daddy's shoe'.
How long do you get off uni? Or are you doing a summer semester too?

Bee, what a year! I really hope 2011 is better for you. It is good that Jacob is starting to take steps now, maybe you and Blueiris can both have toddlers for xmas. :)

Sarah, glad you are feeling better now. I totally understand liking the sleep. I figure that I might as well just be sleep deprived for 5 or 6 years straight and then catch up on all of it later. lol. Byron was a good sleeper, Edward not so good, so I am hoping for another good sleeper this time round.

Everything is going smoothly here. I am nearly 14 weeks and have a huge belly already so Edward is constantly poking it and saying 'baby'. We had the NT scan last week and both the boys came with us. They were very funny watching the baby on the screen, I had a constant comentary about what it was and what it was doing. Byron was adamant that he could see a penis (he really wants another brother), however the sonographer couldn't find a penis, so we might just have our daughter. Have to wait for another 5 1/2 weeks to find out for sure though. Not sure I really want one now, I know what to do with boys. lol.
Finally started getting ready for xmas. I think I have enough presents for the boys, they will get lots from the grandparents anyway. Edward keeps pulling decorations from the tree, which is very annoying, but I guess I got plastic ones for a reason. Byron got cranky at me this morning because I won't put the wrapped presents under the tree yet. As if!!

Anyway, DH has taken the boys to the shops with him so I might have a nice relaxing shower by myself for once. Bye.

Hey Mel... I always had that fear in the back of my mind also as I have 3 other friends who've suffered late losses :( Ahhh it used to seriously scare everything out of me sometimes and I'd have to just talk to myself and remind myself that it was ok and fine and also that it was natural to feel afraid of these things.
I hope I haven't made you or anyone else feel uncomfortable about that... :(

lol... today Oskar was riding his bike and "talking" to my friend's kids ahahah and asking them stuff etc... made me laugh. Today we were in JB Hi Fi getting a pressie for Joshua and they were really busy so we had to wait. Then we got served and the guy was packing stuff into a box for us when another guy who works there brought some customers into the area we were in... Elijah RAN to this guys legs and grabbed on PMSL was hilarious... then he held on tighter and hid his face... ummmm dude WRONG LEGS!! ROFL the guy looked a little uncomfy but man it was just so funny I had tears starting to just spill over cos I was laughing so hard and so much.

Bee... WOW that's just so majorly full on. I hope it's a better year in 2011 for you also. Bum shuffling is very cute... Oskar did that :) I LOVED it and loved him being different hehe.

Mel... I hear ya, I wouldn't know what to do if I did have a girl either!!! Boys are boys and we know what they're like, they're full on, on the go all the time and loud and funny and well ya know how it goes ;) lol.

..... oh and Mel... I'm doing it online through ACAP so just have to do workshops on campus. They're run on weekends so Andy had the boys when I had to go in. Only one weekend though so wasn't too bad. I was thinking of doing summer also but basically have to do 12 weeks in 6 and I just can't commit to that and holiday season and the kids etc.... could be too much pressure so have decided against it.

Hi everyone!! It's been quiet in here for a while!

How are all our big 2 year olds? I'm loving this age. Noah is hilarious, and I love his little personality and how much easier it is to communicate with him now. He says short sentences, knows all his letters and numbers (self taught from his toy laptop...and now when reading him a book he points out all the letters, so it can take quite a while to read a story!) He is very much a cuddly little boy and not that confident when it comes to playing with others or leaving my side (when I'm with him that is, apparently at day care he's fine). Also, not a fan of playgrounds... what little boy doesn't like a playground?! lol He doesn't mind the swing sometimes, but he's not a climber at all so doesn't want to play on anything else. I'm just thinking that since he didn't walk until 17 months, maybe he'll take a while still to develop the ability climb and jump. Maybe it's just his personality. Much happier when he's got his books and blocks or drawing/painting. Although, yesterday we went to a birthday party at a farm and he went on a pony ride and played and cuddled with the rabbits. I didn't think he would do that in a million years, so maybe he's just gaining that confidence slowly. I am just really enjoying this time and trying to soak it all in. We've been TTC for quite a while now with no luck, and not sure how much longer we will continue.

I was just thinking yesterday how slack we all are. All our kiddies turned 2 and still no posts in here. :lol: Life gets busy! Only 4 weeks now until my little girl is due. I can't wait. :)
Edward is such a big boy now! He talks non stop and is obsessed with dinosaurs and dangerous animals. He walks around the house making slightly different roars, then asks "Mummy, mummy, what's that noisy?" and I have to guess which animal he is being. I am always wrong. :lol:
Because I need the nursery again shortly the boys moved into bunk beds a couple of months ago and Edward is finally getting the hang of going to sleep without constant cuddles. He has never been a great sleeper (except in the first 3 months) but has been going to sleep pretty easily and sleeping through most nights. The only problem is that he keeps waking up at 5 am. I hope he stops when it really starts to get cold!
He seems OK with the idea of having a new baby in the house soon. Byron is really excited about it and talks to my belly everyday, Edward pokes it and talks to every now and then, the rest of the time he just seems a bit annoyed that so much of my lap is being taken up with belly. Mostly he plays with his baby doll putting it in the cot and changing its nappy. It is a pretty hard concept for a little boy to understand.

Megan, It is a fun age, isn't it? I wish I had a little boy who didn't climb. Edward is into everything. He jumps on the trampoline, always wants to go on the biggest slide available, if he is dancing he wants to do it on the highest flat surface in the room. He gets the stool that is in the kitchen for them to help when I am making dinner and pushes it into the pantry. Then climbs the shelves until he can reach whatever he wants. No fear at all! He can do anything that his older brother can do... well at least he thinks he can. Mostly he pulls it off. :p You will probably find that when you do have number 2 that they will be a much more independent child from much earlier. They just have to be because they can't have ALL of your attention. I hope that you do concieve soon and you don't have to give up on the idea of another bub! More than one can be totally exhausting, but watching them grow together is just awesome.

I just wanted to pop in to say I got a BFP this morning. In complete shock. Definitely unexpected given the month we've had (sold/bought/moved house) and I noticed I was feeling a bit off this week and was having weird stomach cramps (different from AF but reminded me of when I was pg with Noah). So, did a HPT this morning and the little + came up straight away. If my dates are right, I am 5w2d and due mid feb. It still doesn't feel real, but very very happy!! :D
