Have been off line for more than 2 weeks. We have a stupid wireless modem for internet and phone and it crashed for the second time. I'm over this stupid company (dont know whether I'm allowed to mention them) and their pathetic service.

Welcome back Cass. Good luck with the house selling and buying. Very exciting.

AFM - I'm kicking my but back into gear and set myself a few challenges. I've been a bit lazy over the past 2 months and even though I still manages to do the bridge run a few weeks ago (9km), I've put on about 4 kg this winter and I'm not happy about it. I'm improving my eating habits and upping the exercise. Mel - I have decided to aim for a half marathon, but won't do it until the Sydney running festival next September. I dont want to become a long distance runner but I need something to challenge me and keep me on track. I'd do it once and probably never again. Suppose it's something I want to tick off on my things I'd like to achieve box.

Both my kids are doing well. DD driving me nuts with her talking.........it goes on and on and on and on. You get the idea. We've just moved her into a queen bed (lucky girl) and DS into a matress on the floor. We went on holidays and refused to sleep in the port-a-cot so ended up on the floor, and he coped so well that that we bit the bullet and dismantled the cot. Has made me sad though as DH is adament that we get rid of the baby gear - and I'm soooooo not ready for that. I dont think Ill be able to change his mind though.

Wow, getting rid of the baby gear!! Even if I wasn't having another one I don't think I would be able to do that yet.

We have had to put in a normal phone since we got our wireless modem. The cordless phone seems to interfere with the signal. Pretty annoying, but better than cords running all over the place.
Good on you aiming for the half. I think that my trainer would have tried to get me to do one if I hadn't gone and gotten UTD. lol. I plan to keep training and doing moderate running but I do get out of the hardcore stuff for another 12ish months. :)
Edward climbed out of his cot last night, well was in the process of climbing out when I walked in. That started the bed conversations. Do we get a bunk bed for the boys and they can share a room for 9 months or so until we get the extensions done? I think they would like sharing a room, but not so sure Byron would like giving up his double bed.

How is the house stuff going, Cass? Had any interest in your place yet?

AFM, DH thought it was a good idea to tell Byron I was having a baby. Ever since Byron has been telling me I am having a girl baby and making up names for her. This morning's suggestions were peanut paste, and poo ballerina. He thinks he is hilarious!!
Edward is home sick today. We had such a good run over winter, but he has had a fever that comes and goes, and a nasty cough, so a day off it is. He hasn't been sleeping well because of the cough and blocked nose so I am back in exhaustion land. Not great when I am starting to feel the pg tired coming on too. I wonder how I will cope this time with 2 kids to chase around???

Wavell... as in near Northgate etc?? That's not that far from me! We need to catch up!

No luck so far with the house. I'm OVER the RE guy, he's really p!ssing me off lol. He's just annoying now and I keep thinking, listen dude we're not desperate to sell so back the EFF off!!! haha. Mel, oh I forgot the older kiddies were up for needles soon! Elijah will prob get his next week... or maybe week after. Elijah is OBSESSED with Iggle Piggle ... omg, he gets the DVD out and annoys you until you put it on for him lol. He lets out an excited squeal and claps, then he dances to the music... it's pretty cute.

Getting rid of baby gear is hard. I've sold stuff to my friend across the road... but it's not really like parting with it in some ways, cos I get to see it so it's not like it's GONE haha.

Mel, idea... could the boys share the double? Personally I don't like bunks too much... especially when the little ones try to copy the bigger ones!! Scares the crap out of me.

Yes, Cass, Wavell is near Northgate. It really isn't far, we are just slack... or at least I am! Wednesday and Friday are my free days.
The boys could share, but Byron moves around heaps in his sleep so I don't think Edward would get much sleep if he had to be in a bed with him. I am a bit funny about bunks too which was why I wanted to keep Edward in the cot until we have extra rooms for the boys to both have normal beds. Ideally I would like to put the double bed back into the spare room (when we have one again) so both boys will get single beds then anyway. DH thinks we should just get bunks that you can put as separate beds too so the bunk situation is temporary.

Real Estate is way cheaper out in Burpengary! Why are you moving? Just want a change or more space? Did you get the kitchen done recently? The drafty is drawing up the preliminary drawings for our extensions at the moment so will hopefully get to see the first round of stuff in a week or so. A big new kitchen (with a dishwasher) is one of the things I am looking forward to most of all.

Oh cool.... it'll have to be a Friday cos Oskar goes to kindy Wed. We're selling cos we want lowset. This would be ok if the living was downstairs and just the bedroom kinda stuff upstairs.... it's hard having kitchen and that up when they want to play outside. I have so much I need to do that I can't cos I can't do it if they're playing.... so it just remains not done lol. The kitchen, yep, it's actually just a face lift... painted the cupboards a different colour but changed the whole look!

We will have pretty much just bedrooms and a little tv room upstairs and all the living stuff downstairs. Will be great!
That is the sort of kitchen I want. Room for everything. It is unusual for a house like that to only have 1 bathroom. At least it has a separate bath and toilet. Ours are combined ATM, and we only have a shower. Having a second bathroom will be awesome too.
Nice big block. Now you just need someone to buy your place.

Well, Noah is walking! Started about a month ago, so at 17 months. He did it a few times and then didn't walk for a week or so and then just took off and walks everywhere. He's running already, and was running around my mum's property last weekend checking out all the animals. He has been so good lately. He is always happy, sleeps 13 hours straight overnight, he now loves day care and is finally becoming a bit more outgoing after going through a really shy stage for a while there. I've reached the point where I really want another baby now. Hopefully it happens soon.

Well, this must be the thread for extending/buying houses!! We're in the process of getting our house extended. We had the plans drawn up back in Feb and just got the planning permit approved about a month ago. We're currently going through the quoting stage and our builder (who is a family friend) is getting a few last bits and pieces together for the building surveyor for the building permit. Then it's finance, and then hopefully we can build! It has been a long process, made even longer by the bush fires down here last year with all the new restrictions (we're in a high danger area). To think we started out at the beginning of the year wanting to be done by the end of the year. Wishful thinking! Our house is only a tiny 2 bdrm, so we're adding a main bedroom with ensuite & WIR, living area, and a laundry (which is currently have in our bathroom - when I move all that stuff into a new laundry I can finally put a bath in the existing bathroom).

Mel, I haven't had much luck lately and just had another nasty cold and ear infection that lasted 2 weeks. Started feeling back to normal on Monday and today started to get a sore throat again. We had no electricity for about 18 hours from 9.30 last night due to power lines down from a big storm and it was freezing. I couldn't find one of the dogs, so went out in the freezing rain looking for her and today I get a sore throat. I don't know what to do. I've been eating pretty well, and even having oranges to up my vit c (and I'm really not a fan). I just can't seem to catch a break. So, going to gym is a bit all over the place. Didn't go for 2 weeks, then went twice this week and body pump almost killed me! There's no consistency so I'm getting nowhere fast.

Anyway, since i feel like I'm getting sick again I should go and get some sleep :)

Sounds great Mel... I think I'd be happier with our house if the setup was more like that. The only downside then would be sorting through clothes lol. I have got so many to go through which don't fit either of them but I can't if Elijah is around cos he "helps" me but if he's sleeping I can't either lol. Catch 22!

Megan... hope you feel better! We had a bad run this year too. I hate being sick and I hate it even more when you still have kiddies to look after cos it just makes it all harder when you just want to lay down and sleep! Hope your extensions get started soon. It really is such a long process isn't it, crazy really. I don't understand why it needs to take so long to be honest. Noah... YAY!!! You're kinda grateful they've taken so long once they're running though hehe. I know Oskar was 15 months and I had others commenting on it and I said well I don't care, I can still catch him right now!! lol. ...... so the wanting another bub... does that mean you guys are TTC??? It's so exciting hehe. I think we're done, I'd like another (I certainly have days where no way in hell would I want one lol) but it's more for health reasons that I think we're done.

Yep, we are TTC but I can't help wondering if it will ever happen since it took nearly 4 years to have Noah. We'll just have to wait and see. I really don't want to go through any more IVF so I am trying to convince myself that Noah will be ok as an only child. Ideally, two would be perfect and we would stop there. Fingers crossed.

I found this fantastic play group and went for the first time today. I spoke to an OT who was there about how long it took Noah to walk. She talked about how good crawling was for them. The movement of arms and legs at the same time is good for left/right brain fusion. Interesting. Noah crawled for 10 months so he should be a genius!!! lol

I'm off for a fun afternoon of spring cleaning. I need to attack the kitchen cupboards. I've had this nesting instinct lately for some reason. It's weird. I didn't even nest while I was pregnant!

Try not to actually think about the TTC ;) Funny thing for a lot of people I know who had trouble conceiving first time was they got pg a lot faster and easier second time. It's like your body goes...oooooh yeah I know how to do that, I remember!! The more you worry or stress or think about it... it actually makes it harder cos your mind is so powerful.

Awesome about playgroup! Of course Noah will be a genius... all our bubs will be ;) My mum used to say how Oskar NEEDED to crawl and clap at certain times.. like he didn't clap (on purpose) for a long time and mum used to FORCE him and then crawling... pfft he didn't crawl at all! He bum shuffled and mum used to try to FORCE him and he'd bawl his little eyes out. He walked at 15 months and has no issues (other than hearing hahahah typical 3 yr old) with his skills or anything else.

Megan, I know peopler who found TTC easier the second time around. FX that is the case for you guys!
That is great the Noah has joined the walkers. It is amazing how quickly they start running one they decide they can walk. That sucks about being sick all winter. I hope the sore throat doesn't last long. The weather is cold enough in Bris today, I can only imagine that Melbourne is gross if it is wet and stormy like it is here.
lol at nesting. I have never had the nesting bug. Maybe I will get it this time round... DH would be pleased!

I had to laugh, Cass, at sometimes thinking there is no way you would want another kid. I think that kids know when you are UTD and start being really naughty so you wonder why you got pg again. The week after I found out I was pg, Edward was the biggest handful he has ever been. I am pretty sure I remember Byron starting to be a monster when I was pg with Edward too. Maybe it is just 18 months is the start of the trouble time with my boys??
And I know my boys are geniuses. I have always claimed that is why they can be so difficult and argumentative. They are just too smart for their little minds to deal with yet. lol. It could be true. :)

Hi everyone, can i join in here too? My DD was born 20th April, hitting 18 months on Wednesday. She's all booked in for her needle then too. My DD is a happy crawler & furniture cruiser right now, she'll let go for a few seconds, realise she has then freaks & grabs whatever/whoever is closest to her. She is now really starting to get into climbing too. She still happily does her baby babble but is trying to sound out more words, for now she says mum, dad & nanna.

Yay to those getting house exstentions. This is something we also want to do to our house. Our thinking is although it inconvenient for a bit it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying & moving. We won't even be able to think about this till next year or the year after at least.

Edward is sleeping again, thank goodness! Still getting up around 5.30 with the sun, but better than broken sleep. We will be going in for needles on Friday. 18 months is where they start to work out what is happening before they get the needle. Luckily there is only the 1.
Edward just keeps amazing me with how much he can say. When you read to him, he copies all the words. And he is even starting to sing a bit. He sings to some of twinkle twinkle and row row row your boat. His language skills are so much more advanced than Byron's were!

Anyway, should be making dinner, better go. Hope you are all well.

Technically I belong in the next thread but i have no idea where it is and everyone is quiet? DD1 born 10 May and we are TTC#2 now. We live in Brisbane but looking to move to the northside, anywhere from Naragbah to Caboolture. Seems there is a few of us in that area!

DD1 walked at 9 months and was fully mobile at 10 months, she is running and jumping and dancing now at 17 months, it is fun to watch, although she is probably a littlel behind in her language skills.

I will read back a bit and catch up but in the mean time.. nice to meet you all (some of you I already know!).

We're in the reno process too. Bought a 1970s house a few years ago with an attractive turret on top. It is boxy and we want to open it up a little and make it more user friendly. Also adding another bedroom. We're doing most of the work ourselves (by that I mean I'll be looking after the kids while DH does the actual work!).

Went to a Zumba class last night - what a crack up. It was fantastic fun but gosh I wish I could move my butt and hips like you're supposed to. Trying to add a little variety to my exercise routine as it's getting boring.

Off this weekend for a childfree 2 nights away. Group of friends, Hunter Valley, wine, sleepins, no dinner prep, no nappies, no baths, ahhhhhh. Sounds good already. I LOVE my kids but ahhhhh, this will be good.

Nellnell ~ Thanx for the welcome. I'd love to do Zumba too but with my DH having a FIFO job during the week & me doing weekend work it's rather hard. We're currently arranging some central heating or reverse ducted (depending on cost), front of house being rendored & putting up a carport.

AFU ~ MissA was 18 months on the 20th, she had her vax done on the 25th. She was unsettled for a good 24hrs after it too, got up to her a couple times during the night & she was super sensitive aswell. She recently cut 4 molars & now it looks like all 4 eye teeth are about ready to break the skin. Her latest trick is she's learnt how to do a diamond with her fingers for twinkle, twinkle little star, so now she does it randomly. It's the cutest thing.

MissA had her 18 month check-up last Wednesday, we saw her pead for this. I'm now glad i did her check-up through him. We found that MissA is extremely flexible in both her feet & knees which is contributing to her not walking un-aided yet, he could bend her feet & legs totally sideways(inwards & outwards) & she didn't even flinch as he did this. So we now need to get her some supportive ankleboots/shoes to help with this. He also reccomended kindergym which i already organised a trial visit to next week & she's starting swimming lessons tomorrow which he also reccomended to help strengthen her ligaments/muscles in her feet/legs.

Her fontinelle is still open(i got told at birth it was rather large) so i had to put poor MissA through a bloodtest as he just wants to check her iron levels, thyroid, calcium & vit d levels too. He's not concerned but just wants to check them anyway. We also have to keep an eye on her speech & try to encourage her to say more words. We go back in 3 months for a follow up. Apart from those few things he's very happy with her. I'm feeling a bit mixed about how today went, i'm a bit concerned with the ligaments issue & the slight speech issue he's found. At least now we can get onto fixing these issues.

I phoned her CCC last Thursday & they're now working together with us to get on top of these issues & get them sorted out quickly. I figured they're trained for this sort of stuff so why not use their knowledge to DD's advantage. They're being great & have set up a book which they wright what they've done with her so we can continue it at home.

Sorry I have been missing too, I do try and read what everyone is up to, but I never seem to be able to finish a reply!

Ollie is doing really well, he was 18 months yesterday. He had a nasty case of croup but it's all cleared up now and he's back to his happy little self.

We bought him a balance bike for Christmas, but he kept crashing his little trike going over bumps and turning too quickly, so we've given him the big bike early. He is zooming along! He looks so cute, so tiny zooming along on a two wheeler bike. We couldn't find one small enough so we had to be crafty and find a way to lower the seat. So far so good.

He jumps everywhere, his new trick is jumping off things, anything he can find to stand on that isn't too high and he jumps off it. Walking anywhere takes us so long because he has to stop every few seconds and jump, it makes me laugh every time.

Good luck to everyone that renovating, and selling, I'd love a new house, only because it would be clean! I need to seriously do a big spring clean, might be time for a garage sale I think.

Sarah, lol at wanting a new house becaus it will be clean. The thought of all the extra rooms that will having to be cleaned is starting to worry me.
I am glad Ollie is over his croup. It was really scary when Edward had it... such an awful cough!
It is great that Ollie is riding a big bike. Edward tries to ride Byron's bikes but isn't quite tall enough yet. We could probably adjust one of them so that he could ride it, but that is Byron's good one, so maybe we will get a second one for xmas.
We get lots of jumping here too. We were given a swing set by DH's boss a couple of weeks ago as his kids have outgrown it. Edward climbs onto the double swing and jumps over to the rings and swings back and forth. No fear at all!!

Blueiris, it is great the the CCC is working with you. I just had to go in and check Edward's fontanelle. lol. I don't remember them checking it, but it is closed. Does MissA communicate with you at all? DS1 said very little at 18 months, but the dr wasn't at all concerned, and by about 2 he was blabbering constantly. I would focus on the ligament stuff if I were you, unless there is no signs of speech at all, of course.
Edward has had all his teeth (except the 2 yr molars) for ages now. I have forgotten all about teething. I am sure I will remember quick smart when the last molars decide to show up though... won't be too far away either if his big brother is anything to go by.
How do you go with your DH doing FIFO? Is he back every weekend or gone for a couple of weeks at a time. I am not sure I would cope very well.

Candice, I haven't welcomed you yet. But I saw that you had banned yourself from BB, so could be a while before you receive your welcome. :)
Sounds like X would have given Edward a run for his money with her walking. I love that my boys have been on their feet early, means I disn't have to carry them everywhere. Don't worry about the talking, she will get there. As long as she is clearly hearing you and can communicate a little then there isn't anything to worry about.
