Blackduckies Thinking of you lots, wondering how Tilly is. If there is anything i can help with please let me know.
Sarah How are you doing now? Have the older kids settled down to help you in the evening?
Beck Great work on the night sleeps! Is that continuing?
Leesha Hope you got your log in fixed up. How is your little one? She shares a bday with my little girl.
The last 3 nights, my little one (LO) has been waking for feeds at 12, 3am, 6am, 8am. She had a couple of night where she went for 4 or 5 hours previously but she has changed her mind again. Thankfully most of the time she goes down again pretty smoothly. I am hoping to get a sleep today because tonight will be DHs first night shift since she was born and i will be here solo. It's more the 8pm - midnight time i am worried about. She usually sleeps then (please sleep tonight!) and i fall asleep on the couch but i know DH is here to look after her or wake me up if she needs me.
Her weight gains had been getting less and less (170g in a week, then 90g, then 100g, then 30g) and i went to the breastfeeding clinic. She had had some tummy issues that makes it uncomfortable when she feeds. When the lactation consultant (LC) rang the drug info place about my medications and found that they both inhibit prolactin (hormone to make milk), she said that we would have to start supplementing with formula. I was pretty heartbroken cos it wasn't what i wanted, but also it didn't really make sense bc i seem to have heaps of milk its just getting it into her. And she has plenty of wet nappies and all that jazz. Anyway the next day, i had her weighed again and she had put on 300g in a fortnight so we have put off the formula again for now. Maybe she just gains weight in bursts?
So, she is still beautiful, talking lots, smiling more, doing more things with her hands. She is losing some of her gorgeous hair () and especially at the back where she lies on it. I really hope it starts to grow again soon
Also, she was born with milk spots on her nose, and many of them are still there. We were told that they would go in a couple of weeks, then another couple of weeks.. Anybody else still got them or had them? Did you do anything to them? we were told not to squeeze them or do anything in case they scar..
Anybody heard from murraysmum? i know her LO was born later but haven't seen any posts. mm maybe she is in the next buddy group.
hope all are well.

Have just got her down for a sleep. If she has a big sleep now (2-3 hours) then she will be good for the day, and may even have another big sleep in the afternoon. If i miss this first sleep (like yesterday had a dr appt) then she only catnaps during the day, gets so tired and won't have a proper sleep to 7.30 or 8pm. Anyone else have the same thing?
DH is still sleeping (which is good cos he on nightshift tonight), hopefully his snoring will keep the LO sleeping!
Does anyone have a sore back? Mine is caning at the moment. Am seeing physio for my tummy muscles and back. Trying to move the proper way, but not always easy when bub is upset and needs stuff NOW! Is this just normal stuff for Mum with a newborn? I haven't really heard other people talk about it.
Off for a shower whilst i can! I wish we had a bath...
-
urgh no such luck. as soon as i got my stuff ready, the little one woke up. tried 2 resettle not happening. i hope its not one of those days

Mormning Kate,
WE are having one of those days where there are alot of cat naps, we have had them for the pass few days, and I am over it.
I have re-started controlled comfort. By god it's hard, DS2 pick it up straight away but DD2 (liitle Miss) is just pushing everything. I swear PND was/is setting in from her wanted to be cuddle to sleep. The other children start fighting then she is away and everything has to remain on hold for another 20-30minutes while I rock/pat her to sleep.
I have also had early morning starts 3-5 she just wakes up and wants to talk. So I am up then DS1 get's out of bed, early, then DS2 climbs out of his cots, so we are going to buy them bunks this weekend coming.
I would love for little miss to go to sleep when I put her in her bed, granted she can have a little wing then drift off. This are just to hard, I am crabby most of the days and find myself crying 'cos I am being mean to kids. They just don't seem to understand how hard it is to get a baby off to sleep. Granted I am sick on top of everything else which just add's to everything. Oh and it's school holidays I've got another 2 weeks left.

Morning ladies!
Well I had little Lucas immunised this morning, heart breaking I put him on the boobie and his mouth just open wide when they put in the needles in his little legs and he cried. Was very sad but it didn't last long. It's good it's only 2 needles now as they now give the third needle in the form of a liquid that they drink which they didn't with Hannah.
Lucas is still my little dream baby Kate! He goes down at 8pm and sleeps till 4 or 4-30am then quick boob and back down till 6am or 7am.
He has nappy off then to kick etc for half hour give him a bottle then he is happy to lie in his bouncer till about 10 then its back to bed till about 2 then he has another bottle and goes back down till 5 then bath more playtime then bed at 8pm again. It's awesome.
Sarah I know how hard it can be when you have a bubby that needs to patted to sleep etc, Hannah was the same but she was up on the hour every hour. With Lucas the day I brought him home I refused to pat and if cried when I knew he was full and had a clean nappy I left him in his cot, so he has learnt to self settle really well. I told my hubby don't pick him up every time he squalks so he didn't thank goodness. It must be really hard on you having to try and put bub to bed so you can contend to the other kids. Does your daughter try to put her to bed for you? That may help if she could do it at times so you can deal with the boys at least. Then give your daughter her time when bub is asleep. I know things seem easier for me to say Im not the one doing it. I hope you feel better soon.
How is everyone else? Hope all good.
Im off on holidays with the kids on friday for a week to my mum, and to see my dad and brother who havent seen bub yet. Very stoked they will get to meet him finally
take care all becka

becka: Can we swap babies, Lucas does sound like a dream and very much like DS2, who I love dearly because he got into that routine quick. Stupid me thought little miss would be the same.
I have given kids lunch now both DS's are going for a nap, so I can calm down I haven't stopped crying since last post... I def think PND has kicked in.. I fix her up and she is down, how long not sure. Will talk later.
-
Sarah you need to get some help honey if you feel that way, don't think that because you are such an independent person (which I can tell you are) that you have to remain that way! PND totally sucks not only for you but for those around you too. I would go and see doc and see what they can do to help you feel better. I hate knowing that you are at home crying, I really feel for you!
-
Sarah, have you been back to the GP or MCHN to talk about how it is at home? Can you get some more help at home so you can get some sleep? Sleep can help you deal with all the other stuff going on. Without sleep, it just gets harder. Take care of yourself.
About to head to bed. Wish us luck for a smooth night.

Yesterday afternoon was a smooth bedtime for all kids. Little miss was away for almost 4:30-6:30 and she went off by herself, after a warm bath and wrapped up. I only had to help her once which was great and that was a patting on the bum for a minute then I left the room. I think she has finally started to self comfort and send herself off to sleep which will be great when it kids in every time.
Becka: I did go to Dr about 2 weeks back and he thought it could be early sign's of it, we talk more about it and pills, but I did take them 'cos they would stop my milk, and I want to BF her as much as possible or while I can, as it is just eaiser.
Yeah I know I suffered PND big time when DD1 was born, for about 8 months. The only up side to that was I lost a hell of a lot of weight, which would be great, but if it means I have to get PND to do it I would rather have the extra weight.
Yeah I know talking is the key but ATM, I really don't want to speak it out aloud that I am having troubles. When I can vent and get all my anger, fustration etc out on here without the fact that people might throw it back in my face to say I am weak. I know it's not the same, but possible if I get on more and vent then it might (hopefully) go away.
Kate: My normal Dr is on holidays, and I don't see the CHN I haven't found one lady I like.
Last night Sleep was great. I don't mind getting up to little Miss 2-5 times a night if she gives me that hr of sleep in between, but lucky she was only up once then up at 5am for a chat (girls). Normally she is only up twice. She is already back down in bed by herself I wrapped her up and gave her a quick snuggle cuddy and she went off to sleep by her self again with a few pats on the bum for a minute then I walk out and I haven't heard her since.
Yeah I would love more help but my parents don't live in tassie, and my older sister live's an hr away and she work full time with 4kids of her own. So that is out of question. DH family all live close, (within 10km of us) yet his mother's side of the family didn't even know we were pregnant with her, or that she has been born. And if MIL did come around now to see her or other kids I will tell her were to go, as we have not heard from her or seen her since our wedding back in March 09. DH's father and step MIL they have own business and work full time. I dislike FIL, SMIL she has her own grandchild from her son which is more important. Granted she does come in for a visit now and then, but doesn't take the other kids. So where would I get the out side help from?? I did think about putting DS2 into daycare 1-2 days a fortnight but he is no trouble when the other's arn't around, he is perfect by himself.
I think once I get her going off to bed by her self, I will relax more and stop stressing out about it or getting angery at the other kids. It's just that it takes so long when I was rocking/cuddling her to sleep then the boys would have a fight over something and wake her up. It more of me being worn down then anything...
Anyway I think I have ranted long enough so I better get up and have breakfest before the others get up and make noise and possible wake little miss up. But thank's for caring girls, it means heaps to be able to get on here and not be judged.
-
A woohoo for me. I made it through my first night without DH here! He got home at 6am and got him to change her nappy (an icky one) and then i finshed her feed and she went back to bed. I stayed in bed for awhile, but couldn't get back to sleep so got up, fed thedogs and chooks had a shower and breaky before she woke up again. Good start to the day!
Maybe she is having a growth spurt (i hope so!) cos she was up a few times in the night for feeds. One she managed to spit up on my chest like a fountain- glamorous!
Yesterday i found an easy way to amuse her- take her nappy off! She loved it just laying there kicking and playing with the toys above her. Gave me time to finish off dinner. Because it has been so cold, and we have a cold house she doesn't get much naked time.
Sarah- glad you had a good night. I love it when my little one gets the chats. The grins and gurgles help with the not so fun times.
Anyone having a christening or naming ceremony?
On Friday, i have an appointment to go over my hospital records from the birth. Really hoping i get some answers. I would like someone to look after my liitle one (or for her to sleep through it!) but not sure if i can co-ordinate that.
I have Mothers group this arvo. - just checked the sheet and its my last week, that went quick. I missed last week because i was at the breastfeeding clinic. Hopefully we will arrange to keep catching up with the others.
Wishes for a smooth day for all!

Kate: I felt like this morning, but only I got paper work and folding up done.
I also learnt that trick with free pants yesterday, granted I have done it with the other. However, I have just forgotten all the little tricks, that amause her for at least 20 minutes. So again this afternoon when she is at witching hr I will take her nappy off and let her have 'free dover time'.
Have thought about giving her a dummy instead of sucking her hand/thumb which I have notice she has been going for but she doesn't like them which is great, but again hard when I want her to stop.
Oh yeah Little Miss has milk spots on her noise and cheeks as well, some are slowly starting to go. I accidentlly picked on the other day and it just fell off with out causing any pain. Oh and I hear you on the sore back. Esp when I lean back on DH during the night feeds it hurt on epduiral spot, but other then that I am fine and doesn't cause pain.
-
OMG I have had a break through with Little Miss settling her self off to sleep. Today she had pretty much done it herself every sleep I just giver her that cuddle before she dozers off and put her into her own bed awake. I feel like I have done the impossible, and could jump over the moon if it wasn't that far away. I get time with the other kids too now so they don';t feel like they are missing out of mummy time, just jumped on to let you all know.
Know pray I have a good night as well... (touch wood)
-
Yay! That's great news. Enjoy the time with your other kids.
My little one had a cranky afternoon but had some nudey time, a bath, a feed and book and is now sleeping soundly.
-
Have you girls stolen my good baby genie or what? Lucas has been quite irritable after he has had his immunisation, to be expected I guess, he is still sleeping at least 6 hours straight though at night but he seems to be off his feeds a little so I assuming that is why he isnt sleeping as well. He is also quite colic-ly. I tried that infants friend like you Kate, and a small drop landed on his face and went red straight away, has any landed on your little girl and you notice it red? I have now gone back to another one that I use for colic, he can have it every half hour if needed so I might have to use it more than I think to help calm him. He is also on panadol to help with the muscle pain etc. Hopefully he will be back to his normal self once these effects wear offf.
Sarah yah for you on getting little one to sleep by herself, I recone us mums have to just be tough and let them have a little cry if needed, but putting them to sleep awake really pays off in the end especially when they are 6 months etc. Lucas used to cry for about 5 mins at first before he just decieded to it himself and behave. He realised I wasnt coming in to pick him up. Sarah I have a dummy but he is starting to refuse it too, he used to really enjoy that. BUGGER it was a great settler.
I think I wrote in my other posts that he has nappy off time, he loves it too, who wouldn't right after having a nappy on all day I find he farts heaps too when its off so that makes him smile.
Well Im off on holidays tomorrow boy I hope the kids are well behaved so I can have a bit of a holiday as well. Hubby is driving me to my mums then he is coming home and coming back to get us in a week.
Anyway really glad that you are both doing well sarah and kate,
Where are the other girls gone?
Love becka xx

Morning Becka,
I think the thread is down to you, kate and I. Pam is flat out with tilly being sick last I heard. And haven't heard from the other in ages, well since the site changed over. I have alot of problem's getting on etc when it change so I am assuming they are possible have the same problem.
So about stealling Lucas mo-goo, but little miss has been quite good and I am loving it, and I can feel myself relaxing more. Not so tightly wonded, and I haven't had a cry since the other day when they all were being naughty. So when they are I am just gonig to kick them out into the backyard (thank god it was sunny)and lock the sliding door while I fix little miss.
ANyway I feel great even got a sleep in til 6:50am so am wrapped, hope today is good as well will let you know...
Have a good trip up to your parents house, and I hope both the kids sleep all the way there. Of course you will get a holiday part time from the kids 'cos your parents will be happy to take them and play with them... I sometime wish mine live here so I could do the same.
Be safe and will talk to you in a week then.

OMG you girls have talked up a storm, I have'nt even began to catch up (still loads of reading to do) justa qucik post before i head to bed..
Kate all is fine just so busy......Tilly is doing great, we are still BF then comp feeding, and she is gaining heaps, unlike when I was BF only... that has always been an issue she weighs 5.4kgs now (she had a good start weighing in at 4.144 kgs) and getting very chubby...still surpirses herself when she gets a noise out, kidney is a real mess though seeing the surgeon later this month, they seem to think they will remove it becuase of how fast the cysts are growing largest is 5cm now then 2cm there are about 8 all together. Her good kidney measures 4cm which is normal size at thsi age.
Back ache is normal I have had it a few times the last 2 pregnanices and after have been no problems, I don't now whther that is because I don't have the time to think about it or just lifting bigger kids all the time has given me the stronger back muscles, good idea to go to see someone.
L:astly good on you getting through your first night alone..and great ticker I bet you are happy.
w
Sarah if its any help I have days where I wonder how I'm going to make it....there is now ay you can catch up on sleep
-
I had to post for some reason my posts start to go missing and my screen was jumping so before I lost it I thought POST!!! Sarah any chance of daycare for the older ones??? just to give you a little break even for a morning???
Tilly is getting used to being carried in the pouch/sling and when i put her down starts to whinge, the last couple of days I have wrpped her and put her down, she seems relived and has gone off to sleep,, I feel really sorry for her in and out of the car all day..no wonder she is unsettled and needs to be held..but she sleeps great at night...she does the same as Lucas ..Becka we are super lucky  my last bubs and Tilly both have done the same thing and slept most of the night them a quick boobie feed and back to sleep my usual start time is 6-7am which works in well for school.
Hi J hope you are well...
Hi to everyone who I missed.... sorry...:doh:I hope all is going great and life is just busy in a good baby way which means you are'nt gettig much of a chance to get in here.
-
I'm still here, just had a crazy couple of weeks, and haven't had time to get on for a post. DS1 is having some issues going to sleep unless I'm lying next to him, but when I lie next to him I end up going to sleep myself, and DH mostly "forgets" to wake me up...so there go my evenings. DS2 is doing well, he's cracked 6kgs, which is about a kilo heavier than his brother at the same age. Immunisations today, mainly seems to have made him very very sleepy, so loving that :). Will be back when I can to do a better post, taking the chance to watch a bit of tv for a change - will be nice to have some brain dead time for myself.
