Ok...feeling much better after a few days of it sinking in and talking with loads of different people. Olivia is walking around calling her Amy!.... so I think it may stick. I like it but not 100% in love with it, although every time Olivia says my sister Amy, it sounds cute. I like names with nick names, but now I dont know what I like! Does Amy go with Olivia and Rebecca? Gosh! Am looking forward to her moving around a bit more so I can sit there and feel her on the outside and start the whole bonding process. Its been an emotional week! As someone said, I am mourning possibly not having a son.... no rejecting my daughter, its so true! Anyway! Am feeling better every day. Kris- did you ever feel a sence of loss not having a girl? You dont have to answer that, but I was just wondering. It was so lovely to have your message to me on fb, saying that they would be best of friends. Only 1 person has sniggered so far and she is a close friend of MIL. I'll be seeing her on Sunday and if she says anything there will be hell to pay!
Well, other than that, the girls quickly got sick yesterday. They both have had a high temp, Bec reach 39.9 today after her sleep but its come down with nurofen and diluted apple juice. They have both eaten very little, except the red rooster chips my dad dropped off! I knew they would eat that.
Better go.... take care
-
Jen- must have posted at the same time. Thank you. It does hurt when people say that and I know deep down it hurts Adam as well, so I get defensive for him too! Hope your root canal goes well..ouch! I hate this crap weather and the kids are at you all the time!
-
Ah Mel, you know my theory - I know 3 boys the right ages for your girls ;)
Well yeah, this weather has been horrid, and with DH doing renos as much as possible, Pio has been house-bound. Last night we went to DH's neice's 18th and he was feral, running everywhere around the Mentone Hotel ... ahhh well. Least he slept well until he realised he woke up in his cot and didn't have his fave cousin there ... took near an hour to calm him down and get him back to sleep.
We told the familiy last night, showed the scan photos. Saw the FBC Dr and he's cleared us for the FBC dependent on the genetic results which weren't ready yesterday, have to phone through for them today.
Mel / Jen - are you going to get an avatar?
Mel - it's funny, everyone's been asking me what we're having (at 12 week scan - yeah right) and when I refer to Quoll as "he" by accident they latch onto it and ask if we'll be trying for a girl as well!!!!!!!! Yah just can't win - if it was a boy, then you'd be getting "oh wow you must be happy after 2 girls" etc. People are just petty, and when it comes down to it, your feelings are your feelings and don't need to be justified to anyone ...
-
Thanks Kaz- too true, people are petty! Congrats on telling everyone too, must be a relief and all the best for your results. My results were the best ever this time! Am happy to introduce my girls to some of Kris' lovely boys! Maybe I will go for 4th girl so none of them miss out!!!
As for the avatar.. I have no idea what to get! One day I will think of something!
-
Aww, Mel, hugs hun, but BIG congrats on your healthy bundle!! :confetti:
Seems like Olivia was right huh?? They know alot these little people! I never assume what Lily is saying isn't exactly what she means and knows anymore! She keeps telling me our bub is a girl...I have a feeling it is too. But I am going to try not to find out. I don't care what it is. And you know what, even for us we are getting the stupid people with unthinking comments of 'Why the hell do you want more, you have a boy and girl'. Well you stupid idiot, I want another CHILD not just because I want a boy or girl...not to mention the 'You're going to have your hands full aren't you?' Gosh I can't imagine what people say to parents of 3++++ children. As well as having them 'close' together in age (I'm thinking the gap between Liam and this bub will be huge! 2 1/2years seems like a big gap, lol. Compared to 16mths with Lil and Li, 2 1/2 years will be a breeze, hehe. Not to mention that Lil will almost be 4!!! :OMG:
BTW, I like the name your DH suggested, Amy Melissa is a lovely name! We're thinking of Caitlin Rose for a girl or Dylan James/Matthew for a boy. Though I'm still open to suggestions!
Kaz, how exciting telling your family! I bet they were all excited for you :)
Poor Pip being house bound. We had a few bad weather days here too, but this house is soo huge, and its like a playground for the kids copared to our 2br unit, they didn't feel it so much!
Hi to the rest of you, hope all is well! Gotta go change someones stinky butt....
-
Kel - ooh I like Caitlin Rose! How weird people are. I'd be really tempted to say that Johnny Howard is my hero and leave it at that ;)
Well last night was interesting - Pip has been making "house" by stringing a polar fleece blanket between 2 chairs, well last night he was sitting on its "roof" on the ground when a little of the blanket gave way, he fell and split his chin open on the windowsill. We then had a bit of a barney when I gave DH a paper towel for the blood -he thought that I should have given him a tissue (um, eucalyptus and aloe? OUCH!) and I decided we needed to go get stitches or something, DH then started panicking and then we got the chin cleaned (a bit) and dressed (sort of) and then I grabbed my laptop, a couple of DVDs and some nappies and turned off the oven for the pizza (why is it always as dinner's cooking?) then whacked the pizza in anyhows to keep it away from the dogs & cats. Got to emergency, we were rated 4 (out of 6) and after 2 hours got seen. It was really interesting - the cut is about an inch long and about 5mm deep, they packed it with dressing soaked in local aneasthetic for about 20 mins, kept topping it up until it was all numb. Then we rolled into the treatment room, where they had stars on the ceiling and they gave him nitrous oxide for a sedative - so funny, he was actually laughing and then when they took the mask off he just wouldn't shut up!!!!! He was talking about his grandpa in his pocket (I think they had no idea its a kids program) and how mummy and daddy are making him a new dog (this was the third night he's mentioned that - very weird. We think he's referring to the baby which we're calling Quolll). And Trev's small puter. Anyhows there are definately 5 stitches, possibly 6, with dissolving stitches. He was very good, no crying uncontrollably or anything. He was a bit grumpy about the no drinking or eating - Trev & I kept nicking out to eat a packet of crisps each. We got home around 10:30, just in time for us to cook the pizza and for Trev to watch the tennis. Pip only had a cup of milk and slept through until 9am.
Anyhows, he's back full of beans today, and hopefully he'll heal without scarring.
have a great weekend all ;)

Lovely to see you back on line today Kel. I was just reading part of your post put to dh and he just screwed up his face! Hes a bit over all of the comments too about having 3 girls...and oh poor Adam! Hes like why? I just want 3 kids and I didnt go in for gender specifics! We were at his mates today who made silly comments! First of all he commented that it was me who was genetically stronger so thats why we are having another girl. I said....do you know how it all works??? He said no...needlss to say I had explain! Then he felt he had to tell me how he giggled when he found out and poor adam.... So i explained it to him very clearly! Anyway, I love your names. We are set on Amy melissa and I think we will go with the simple spelling of Amy too. Your place sounds devine! Hope youre having fun out there.
Kaz- sounds like an interesting time. I hope hes not in too much discomfort. Sounds pretty nasty though. Everything happens at tea time...its murphys law!
Kris, Jen and Mel...hope youre well ( i havent missed anyone have I???)
All good here. Amy is moving around alot, Adam can feel her really well. Kids are on the mend, Bec has tonsilitis and is on abs but is much better now:)
-
OMG, just read the first part of the first post on this page and Mel.... AMY IS OUR GIRLS NAME!!!! :D Good choice!!!! We'll have Amy Anne :)
-
Haha Mel! Thats too funny! When are you due for a scan??? Hows it all going for you?
-
Hey Mel, I meant to get back here to write a proper reply but it didn't happen....
I'm going for a referral for the 12 week scan tomorrow. I'm about 10 weeks now so that will be in the next two weeks or so. I have a nephew with Down's so I always get the NT scan because it's in the back of my mind all the time. I'm having a good day today, even though I'm buggered. Had a good chuck and diarrhea to match on Saturday night which was good fun, but I"ve been relatively lucky on that front this time.
We have no boys names this time. It's funny because we never had girls names with the boys and our first two boys were always going to be Ben and Jared so that was sorted. This time we have the girls name and will be screwed if we have a boy!
Oh man I'm tired. I missed my afternoon nap this afternoon and really missed it!
okay - gouing. jr is helping me type!
-
Oh well great news for me... i did do a little porky today and told the midwife i had moved and she organised a transfer to my preferred hospital:) All booked in there, so now I can birth in a familiar place, have a water birth if I so choose and stay as long or as little as I please:)
-
Yay Mel, that's a relief for you, I'm sure!
Dis Mel, I hope your scan went well today. We're only about 2 weeks apart, I'm 8wks on Thursday (my ticker is a few days out for some reason!).
Well I had my first scan today. I told a porky too Mel, and said I wasn't sure when my last period was, just so I could have an early scan, lol! All is well. Bubs is measuring exactly to my date and EDD is the same as what I expected :) Bub's heart beat is 146bpm and my kidlets were angels while we were in the scan room. I am so proud of them. I was anticipating WW3, particularly with Liam, but he was such a good boy! I now have a raging headache from the stress of the day, but I'm so relieved it's all good and all over!
Hi everyone else, I hope you're all well, must go and finish doing dinner (just scrambled eggs today for the kids, probably cerial for me being all on my lonesome, I can't be bothered cooking anything! And the thought of eating eggs is turning my stomach!)
-
Oh yay Kel, that's great news about the scan & dates - how's the new place?
Mel - yay!!! Which hospy are you going to?
DG - oh isn't the arvo nap just great! I'm hoping for a girl here, not sure what name though, as DH & I keep arguing about names - he HATES the name I've always wanted if I had a girl.
Us - well Pip is telling everyone that Patrick & Daddy & Mummy are making a new puppy dog and it has 2 legs and a head. Guess that's what he thought the U/S looked like!!! We're staying with Mum & Dad - I told them we'd be sharing a bed, so they wrapped it in plastic (ughs). Had to pull the plastic off, couldn't sleep with it!!!
-
Hello girlies!!
How are you all?? It's been a little quiet here lately!
Kaz, how cute is pip saying he's getting a puppy, lol!! And your mum is hilarious putting plastic on your bed, hehe!! Hope you're having fun! A bit jealous you're enjoying the warmth though, it's sooo cold here, about 14 degrees today! Brrr!
Well, we are going ok. Now. I sturggled a bit the days DH was away in Sydney. Turned into a screaming banshee, the poor kids, especially Liam. He really struggled too and just followed me crying for 3 days, not to mention they wouldn't sleep without me in their bedroom. Not that they slept much better with me there, they each woke just to check I was there. I had Lily literally sleeping on top of me one night! The poor things they must be so confussed. But thye'r eok now DH is home. And so am I!!
Lily is going great guns. She never stops talking and is so funny at times with the things she says. I ask her a few times a day to stop talking she sends me batty with her chatter! I like to talk too, but not that much, and I need quiet time too. She's absolutely lovely with Liam at times, and while I was having my meltdown the other day at Liam, she was there hugging him and kissing him and saying 'it's ok Liam mummys just sad, Lily is here' (way to make mummy proud and ashamed all at once Lil, lol!!). But then there's the 'no it's mine he cant have it! Its MINE' when he picks up a toy that she's not even playing with or thought about in 3 days, but has to snatch it off him as soon as he looks like he's enjoying it! ANd she's such a little mother to him, always repeating stuff I say that she know's he's not supposed to do like sit on the table 'Get off the table Liam it's not a seat', fiddling int he kitchen drawers 'Get out of the drawers Liam there are no toys in there!' playing int he toilet bowl 'Get out of the toilet Liam, that's absolutely disgusting you grub!' Hehehe, really makes me watch what I say though!! And she absloutely loves helping me. I've been giving her little jobs to do around the place when I'm cleaning. The other day she hung out some little bits and peices of clothes on the clothes horse for me, like socks and face washers and stuff. Then the next day I sent the kids outside to play while I washed dishes and Lily came into the kitchen with her arms full of the clothes she hung out and said 'They dry mummy I put the in the basket ok?' Awwww!!!
I'm trying to explain to her that we are having a baby. I think she has some inkling. She keeps asking if I'm sick because I have to go to the doctor. I keep telling her I'm not sick the doctor has to check the baby in my tummy and she says 'Oohh right' like she knows what I mean, lol! But I have the cot up in what will be the baby's room and have a few little peices of hand me down clothes and blankies (though not much since I got rid of it all when Damien told me no more children!) and she goes in there and tells me it's the baby's room. And she tells me she's going to have a sister! So I think she might be getting it a little. As I get fatter, I'm sure she'll understand more. I'm looking forward to her having understanding this time, cause she was only 7mths when I fell pg with Liam she had no idea! And Li should have a bit of understanding this time too. I'm looking forward to them being a little older with a baby, I'm hoping it will be a bit easier this time around with two pre schoolers (well Liam will be 2 1/2 almost a pre schooler!) rather than babys/toddlers.
Ok enough babbling from me, I need to do some serious cleaning of this place!! Gotta go. The kids have fallen asleep on the floor together watching Tinkerbell! SOOOOO cute! Must take advantage!
-
Hehe Kel- Liv and Lil sound so alike! She tells Rebecca off just the way I do! I also have to watch what I say because now I change beccas bum and Liv goes...has she got a terd mum? LOL She does the whole washing on the clothes horse and helps with dinner and drinks. She snatches and pushes her sister one minute and the next shes loving her to death!
Kaz- youre mums funny!
Ok better go... Becs asleep and I have made dinner. Liv is bored sensless and dh is going away tomorrow for the long weekend so I think Liv and I might go out to the shops to do some stuff together before I am on my own!
-
Kel and Mel, your girls sound a lot like Ben! He is the same with Jr that your girls are with their siblings; all love and caring one second, instigators of WW3 the next! He also loves helping around the house - he puts the clothes on our little camp clothesline, which is a GREAT help. He has a little trouble with mine and DH's clothes, but can do all of his and Jrs - which is the majority! He also drives me batty with requests to help washing up, putting loads of washing on, vacuuming and other stuff. Right now though, I'm so stuffed all the time, I'm doing only the bare essentials!
Kaz, how cute is Pip! Hope you're growing a cute puppy in there - a lab would be nice ;)
AFM, I've been crook. Jr has been as sick as a dog. Croup, infected adenoids and a virus that has brought out a rash on his legs. At least we're getting them all over with at once I suppose! He's been a super clingon baby and driving me nuts. I've had very little sleep and made DH stay home from work one night because I was starting to lose it.
Okay, my time is up!!!
-
Hi girlies :)
Mel, I want to start doing things just Lily and I too. We tend not to do alot one on one at all because Liam is still really attached to me, so I seem to be with him a bit more than her. She is with DH alot. Maybe the occaisional breaky out at a cafe or something...just gotta work it around DH's work roster though which is all over the place right now!
Dis Mel, awww you poor thing, and poor Jared :( I hope he's on the mend for your sake as well as his! I can't imagine dealing with sick kids with the way I feel right now. I'm struggling with them as they are the little devils!! And my ms isn't really that bad, just an icky feeling in the tummy in the arvo/night, not actually being sick. Hope everything is back to normal for you. And if not, then I hope your DH is looking after you!!
Kris, how's things hun? How was your trip away? I saw that Ethan (I think!) had a bit of an accident....ouch!! I hope he was ok! But I guess boys will be boys! Last night Liam came to me sooking and I though he was just tired so picked him up to go to bed, took his dummy out to give daddy a kiss and hey presto all this blood poured out of his lip! Eeekk! I have no idea what he did to himslef! Then the night before, Lily was getting out of bed in the middle of the night and scared the bejesus out of us by falling off the step that she usues to get into bed (she has a high bed) and thumped onto the floor face first! In the morning she had a graze and bruise on her eye/eye socket, poor bubba! Oh the joys, lol!
Kaz, how are you feeling hun? Has your ms gone yet? I hope so!! How are the reno's going? Will they be done for when bubba comes? Will you be finding out the sex of bubs? Will you be sharing ;). I'm going to try not to this time. But I guess I'm kinda lucky that I already have a boy and girl and so it isn't really an issue for me. I think if I had two of the same sex, then I might be inclined to find out because I think for me, I might be a bit disappointed if I were having another of that sex...but that's all in theory!
Anyway, life for us is proving to be rather quiet!! LOL. Joys of remote living. It will take me time to get used to the fact that things close at 3-4pm on a Sat and 12 on a Sunday and that I have to plan things more....This weekend is VERY quiet being a long weekend here. I haven't see one person in the street at all all morning!! Nothing is open either! No biggish shopping centres around for about 3 hours drive! We have everything we need around here like a butcher, newsagency, bakery, a few little nick nack stores and a grocery store. There is a huge park just around the corner (everything is around the corner, lol!) which the kids love. And we go for a walk most days it's really easy to walk around here with such little traffic and the streets are really wide and there are foot paths on most streets, plus people are considerate for me with the pram too. Such a different lifestyle here!
Ok I should go while the monkeys sleep and do something that resembles house work....
-
Kel, I really don't know how I'm doing it. Well, yes I do - DH is an absolute GEM!!!! He is doing all the cooking, cleaning and is even taking over the laundry - which is usually my sole domain. I got up from my nap today and he was ironing his work shirts!!!! The house is still uber messy, but the essentials are being done. I honestly don't know what I'd do without him doing everything right now.
I'm almost 11 weeks so I'm hoping the ms will fade to nothing in the next week or so. Not holding my breath though since it lasted into the 20ish weeks with the boys :(
Has anybody got a double pram? We're looking at the Phil and Teds' now that ours has died. Just curious as to what you all think?
