I think the house just naturally gets messier when you have a baby no matter where they are. We don't have room for Molly to have her own room, so she is in with us, so its pretty busy in our room too! I feel like I am constantly tidying up. I have been trying to declutter since before she was born.. hmm.. must try and get that sorted. The kids are fine, they love her. My husbands kids see her every week or two when they are here. My daughter loves keeping her entertained if I have to do things around the house, and my son, who is 14, is just starting to interact with her and even asked to hold her the other day, and admitted he thought she was cute, which was a huge milestone!

Hi Everyone
I have finally found the time to post - wow arent things hectic with a new born!!! Jack is doing well - he has gone from 3kg at birth to 4.5kg at exactly one month old. I am no longer expressing milk to feed him - he is on formula Karicare - as my milk just wasnt enough and then started to dry up around 4wks unfortunately.
EL - can i ask you pls about the controlled crying or anyone else that wants to share would be good - do you practice this through the daytime also? When you put baby down if he starts to cry straight away do you soothe them a bit while he is still laying there before leaving the room? I have been rocking Jack to sleep each time he is fussy so the thought of putting him to bed awake i just know will bring tears.... any suggestions??? Also, how long do you let them cry for?
I really hope everyone is doing well with their lil ones and enjoying each day :-)

Skitten hi there, glad you are home and well and finding time to post.. life is hectic for sure with a new baby. I did controlled crying with my son but that was 14 years ago, and he was 6 months at the time i think, though i went to a specialised place for it and stayed two nights. Molly usually falls alseep feeding, and if not, i rock/pat her to sleep. Just do whatever works for you, if you are happy to rock or pat to sleep, do that, but if you want to do controlled crying, i am sure someone can help with that.

Hi Ladies! I haven't been able to get onto BB until today, did I miss anything????
I'm having a HORROR DAY!!!!
I have NO idea what is wrong with my little man today, but sleep is elusive and poor Jack is just sooooo tired and worked up. I guess it seems worse because he's usually so chilled out, maybe it's the 3 week curse everyone's been warning me about?!!! I've tried feeding him, rocking him patting him, wrapping him, all the bedtime cues for him... he's been catnapping all day, and I know it's because sleep cycles are short, but he's fully waking up after each one! By the time I get him settled and to sleep, it's been 2-3 hours and it's time for his next feed. Poor thing.
Hoping the reset button shows itself before tonight!

HELLO LADIES
I have finally found the time to pop in for a quick chat. Jack Darren was born on the 31st of August at 4:17pm after a quick 3 hour labour. My waters broke in the morning at about 6am and contractions did not start until about 1pm. I had no pain relief, he was so big his face rubbed on my tail bone and as a result he came out all bruised. He was 9p 4 oz. He is now almost 3 weeks old and nearlt weighs 5kg already he is a little porker!!!!!! He is BF like a little trooper, like he has been doing it forever.
Thats all I have time for its school holiday's here and raining so you can imagine what the kids are like LOL!!!!
Hopefully bbl

Hi LMK, krystals and skitten!!!
Will be back to talk later just wanted to say hi to you all.
-
Skittenpig we have been trying to do the controlled crying through the day also but it doesnt seem to be working as well. Im going to sleep school tomoro so will be able to give you some more advice then. I think you are supposed to allow them to cry for 10mins through the day and 20mins at night but dont quote me on that. I also think that after a certain amount of crying time you go in and pat and sshh them without getting them out of bed. Of course if they are screaming you will want to comfort them but fortunately Brody doesnt scream when going down at night, he just grizzles.
Melly i hear you got a big gummy smile, how cute. We havent had a proper smile yet, i hope its not too much longer.
Krystals if only there was a reset button! Sorry to say but i think the 3 week curse actually does exist, that is when Brody started to play up but now that we have the sleeping under control he is alot better. Hopefully you can sort something out before your pulling your hair out :)
LMK you must be so busy with the kids at home and on holidays, congratulations on your bubba, glad the feeding is going well.
BR so good to hear that will is putting on the weight now and that you are getting a routine happening with him and the girls. Hopefully you can find a house and get settled quickly.
AFM DP has just got home and taken Brody from me for a cuddle which is allowing me to quickly jump on here for a chat. Not much has changed with us, on all formula now and sleeping well through the night but still not the best through the day but were off to sleep school tomoro so hopefully we can sort that out.
Anyway better go, Dp is cooking tea and Brody is crying, Talk soon

Hi all posting from my phone so just quick. I am able to read but finding the time to post is hard. I'm also really wanting to write my birth story (I think this will help me de brief a little too)
I guess the same is happening here just trying to get into a sleep and feeding routine. Being a cc worker you would think I know it all lol I've helped parents at sleep school and with control crying but I just don't listen to what I preach lol
I personally don't agree with control crying bur that is my own philosophy. And at work we could never allow a child to cry as visitors would not understand and they need to feel secure with our attachment ....... Blah, blah
So Will spends most of his tome attached to me which I love. However he seems to want to feed all the time in the evening and is extra hard to settle. I also feel I don't have enough milk in the evenings to satisfy him. However he is having lots and lots of wet and poo nappies. One thing that stresses me is his breathing still. He will often gag, vomit, have lots of wind and forget to take a breath.
I was silly the other night thinking he was going to wake soon so waited up to feed him...... Yes waited and waited ..........2am he finally woke! Then was up for two hours I was knackered.
We are getting some rebid done tomorrow so that will be interesting.
I'm still not driving but DH said I have to Saturday as collingwood are in the finals.
Wake baby got to go xxx

Loula hi there, wow I could have written some of your post word for word! Only I wish i had the same issue as waking later than i expected... :wall: I am having the same issues with fussy feeding at night, Molly feeds through the day fine, then at night seems to go on a frenzy and I am usually empty by then, and she gets frustrated, then just wants to stay on anyway for comfort. Hope all else is going well.

Will always gets fussy at 5.30 when the girls are wanting their dinner, I usually give him ebm but I have to bf him not long after and he will have at least one more feed before he goes down for a long sleep. Last night I was sitting up with him waiting for him to go to sleep it was about 10.30, I ended up giving him a dream feed of ebm before I went to bed, he takes it happily I am just paranoid he will throw it up.
I use controlled crying to a limited extent, but I will wait until the colic improves first as I don't want him to be crying in pain. What I did with the girls was make sure they were fed, in clean nappies and not teething or in pain. Then I play music, and let them cry for maybe 10min but never hysterically. I would comfort them with cuddles and rock them but not talk. They both self settled from about 6 months and are happy to play in their rooms in the morning, I just have to pop my head in to dd2 and sometimes she has milk before they get up at 7.30.

hi girls,
sorry havent had much of a chance to post.
elise - hwo did ur sleep school go?
loula - how are you going w things with the hossy... are you taking any action

we're also getting gummy smiles and lots of farts! she's such a daddy's girl hahahah
yest she was crying a bit and lakshman comes over and says "ooooh baby, are you ok" and pats her head and then says "please dont kai (cry)" lol.. it was so sweet.
better go.. time for her feed, dh'll give her a bottle and i'l express. hoep fully she'll sleep longer than 3 hours..

Morning ladies how are you all?
Just a really quick post to let you know how yesterday went - GREAT!!!
I learnt so much from picking up on the early tired signs to learning how to settle bub in the cot and reseetle them after they wake from there sleep cycle. It wasnt actually controlled crying as they dont use that until after 6 months but controlled comforting. So i put Brody in his cot and walk out of the room. If he cries i go back in after 20 secs and pat and shoosh him until he stops crying and then leave the room again. You just keep doing this for a maximum of 20mins or just whateva you can handle. While i was at the day stay yesterday i only had to reenter the room twice to settle him and his first sleep was 2 hours and his next sleep 3 hours and i had to wake him to go home.
We still got the 4hrs in between feeds overnight and he has been asleep now for the last 2 hours which has never happened at this time of the morning. I am so so happy we have worked something out. The lady was so so lovely and she said to give it 2 weeks to sort itself out and if not sorted after that then to come back but :crossfingers: we've got it sorted and wont need another visit.
Sorry its a bit of a me post but i just thought id let you know how it went incase anyone else wants to try and find one and get there sleeps sorted. Its the Tweddle Method anyway
Anyway better go and get organised before my sister and her 18mth old get here. Take care
-
So glad to hear Elise, and im glad she told you about waiting 6mth for control crying as this is what we are guided to do also (work).
I am soooo tired today, maybe as its the first day we are home alone with no planned visitors! now just to get Will to sleep, have a shower then have a sleep myself
-
hi girls!
Prama, so good to hear that Githanjali and you seem to be working things out feed wise. I hope it doesn't stay painful for too long. Good on you for trying again! You're doing such a great job!
Elise, the sleep school sounds really interesting- what tired signs did they tell you to look out for?
Black_rose, I'm so glad Will is putting on weight!!!
Jack was a dream child yesterday (shhhh, don't tell him or we'll jinx it!), I think we'll keep him after all ;) He's just had a 2 hour nap after breakfast and is waking up now... just chatting to himself- too cute! Oh, and I figured out the easy suit last night!!! haha... small accomplishments right?
-
elise - glad it's working out and everything will sort itself out soon!! yaay!! well done.
loula - will be so nice to have will all to yourself
krystals- thanks.. hope it gets better. and well done will!!
and those body easy suits - i call them easy my a$$. it almost breaks baby's legs to get them in. we got them for lakshman, and was a nightmare to get in and out!
-
Prama, sorry i seem to have the tail end of the post about your BFing, im getting sore nipples too and have just tried to mix up using and not using the shield now that his sucking is stronger, but i need to use the shield now and them to protect them a little, im not sure if its my attachment? i might go along to teh ABA once i am driving again. i was expressing after feeds to get my supply up but im just so bloody tired to continue to do it so im only offering the boob now.
LMK, sorry i didnt get to welcome your liitle man, congrats i hope the older one's are helping you out a little.
Krystals lucky you having a 'good day' with Jack lets hope it continues!
so what is everone doing this grand finial weekend? we have been invited to a BBQ where i know there will be lots of ppl, im not sure if i want Will around all that before he gets his shots IYKWIM?
Elise forgot to add DH aunt works for Tweedle!
Melly so how is the sleep thing going for you? i think Will gets disturbed by me checking that he is still breathing lol we have started co sleeping this week now DH is in the spare room, due to needing better sleep for work, he works on big site and i dont want him having any accidents due to lack of sleep!
BR how is the house hunting going? when is your next weigh in for the little man?
Well i dont know what to think really, DH was so on the ball when we first got home, getting up in the night settling Will ect, now......he comes home from work, has been finishing off some painting for the laundry and now doing the plumbing, then sits on the couch and reads his book, i eventually get him to have Will so i can shower (unless he is asleep) then all i can hear is crying fom Will (poor DH i know he is trying, but i know he is tired too) then he goes to bed early so he can continue reading his book! WTF!!i'll be glad when this book is over! oh well two more days then we get to share the bed again, or manybe i will express for the weekend;)
i know i should be sleeping while he is, but when am i also going to get on BB for my fix lol
-
Loula I am hanging out at home this Saturday, dh and my brother are putting on a big bash but I refuse to go as there are too many drunk people around wanting to hold my kids and it freaks me out more than not having the vacs yet.
We are putting an offer on a house today, a 5 bedroom place, will have to wait and see. Not getting my hopes up like last time, our sale is def going through though.
Our next weigh in is now two weeks, after Will put on 150grams.
Prama glad you are able to start feeding again. I wish I could bf and not top up it's tiring expressing and dd2 tried to drink the ebm yesterday when I went to the loo so I lost 150ml so I had to use formula instead.
Elise I am happy they were able to give you some great tips on how to settle Brody, they say after three days it becomes a routine so my fingers are crossed for you.
-
Krystals the tired signs they said to look out for are yawning (which they always do), rubbing eyes, jerky movement, whingeing, red eyebrows, frowning. They are hard to read but i think once you can see them it will be easier to realise.
BR I hope its sorted after 3 days, that would be lovely. They said to allow 2 weeks but hopefully it doesnt take that long. Good luck with the house.
Loula hopefully DH snaps out of it when his book is finished, my DP is like that some nights and other nights he is all over us LOL
