Brody is asleep in his cot now and has been for the last 1 1/2 hrs, i just wish he would do that through the day hehe. Oh well im sure he'll get there, I'll just have to keep perservering with it i suppose.
Has anyone taken there bubs to a chiropractor and had any success with it, ive been thinking about it but not too sure.
-
Elise Will has been to the chiro, its helped with his constipation and also the reflux he only needs Zantac at night. I have also taken dd2 as she was screaming at night and also having tantrums. After one treatment she is sleeping through again and only has the occasional tantrum. With the health insurance it is $10 a visit.

Hi ladies
Thought I had better pop in and say HI!!!!
Good to hear that everyone is doing well!!
Elise Jack sleeps on his side all the time!!!!! Even at night time, i have always done this i find that they startle less and stay asleep for longer. I do have and use one of those safe and sound roll pillows which stops them from being able to roll to his tummy or back, so more or less he has to stay on his side, so it is very safe. I love it!!! You can buy them fro about $10 second hand off ebay or Big W sell them for about $30 . Great investment if bubs likes sleeping on their side!!!!
Jack is doing really well, we had him in hospital two weeks ago. He got gastro along with our other kids and he just vomitted and vomitted alllllllllllllll day, i have never seen so much vomit in my life the poor little thing. We took him there cause he had not kept a feed down all day. The dr was very surprised that he was not dehydrated. We stayed for a few hours and came home. He slept all night and woke up heaps better. I have not weighed him for a littel while i mgiht do that today. He has been a bit difficult the last few nights waking up at 3am and not wanting to go back to sleep being very restless. I am feeling it today as the other kids were up at 5:45 and DH had already gone to work. Atleast we are ready for school super early.
Hope everyone is well and i will try and get on here more often
Nikki

LMK poor little man with all that vomitting, that must have been terrible for you all. Hope he is all better now :)
Well we had another terrible day yesterday, i ended up at MIL's in tears, i was just exhausted and missing DP and Brody just would not stop screaming. So MIL talked me into leaving him with her and going home for a sleep and then went out for tea with her and some friends. I thought we would have a terrible night as brody missed his bath and went to bed later but nope we had a GREAT night, best one yet. He fed at 7.30, then bed at 8.30 and didnt wake again till 3.30 then 7.30. I couldnt believe it i was so happy and to top it off DP got home at lunch time today and is home for 2 nights, so that was lovely. Brody has also been sleeping in his cot today, only 45 mins - 1 hour but its better than not at all. Hes sleeping in my arms at the moment coz hes just too cute and i felt like cuddles hehe
Have a good weekend everyone :)
-
Oh Elise, I'm so glad Brody had a goodnight's sleep after a bad day- did you get some sleep too? Don't you love those sleepy cuddles? My favourite times are when he falls asleep while feeding and then we stay and have a cuddle.
Nikki how scary when Jack was vomiting! I hope all is well now- how are the other kids settling in with the new arrival?
Black_rose, I might see if I can find a chiro in our area for Jack's neck/shoulder- it's improving all the time, but it might help a bit more- might help with his tummy too, although Jack doesn't sound anywhere near as bad as Will- I'm glad the Chiro makes a difference for him.
Melly and Prama, how are your gorgeous girls going this week?
Loula, that smoothy sounds yummy!!!
Jack is doing really well, I'm having a great time with him- although this week has been difficult, time stressful and busy, he's taken it all in his stride. We had appts everyday and I was worried he wouldn't sleep at all, but he's like his mum I think and loves having a sleep. Actually today he's been really sleepy- he usually has 2 sleeps and 2 naps during the day, but he's had 4 sleeps today. He's having tummy time with hubby at the moment and then we're going for a walk. I haven't exercised at all for a couple of weeks as I've been so tired, but I got an hour nap this afternoon so I'm feeling ok for it.
Has everyone who was going to vaccinate had their needles? We had ours on Tuesday. He cried and cried and broke my heart, but as soon as the boob was out it seemed like he forgot about it. He was whingey on Wednesday but seems fine now.
-
hugs Elise!
...................................we failed sleep school today! Will got no sleep allllllllllllllllllll day! now we are home he is asleep on me lol what night am i in for?
-
Krystals so glad to hear jack is doing well and coped with all his appointments. Brody has his needles at 8 weeks but he wasnt to bad, of course he cried but i was feeding him at the time so once he realised his milk was there he was fine. But your right it does break your heart to see them in pain like that.
Loula thanx hun, im feeling better today with DP being home and having a couple of good nights. I wouldnt say you failed sleep scholl hun, its just not for some people. I could say we failed too coz we tried it and he was an absolute angel while we were there but then wouldnt do it when we came home. 'Whateva works' is what a very wise person told me hehe
Well we had another good night last night, went to bed at 7.30 and woke at 2, then 6 so i was happy with that. Im heading off to my sisters 21st tonight and Brody is staying at home with DP. He will be bathed and in bed before i go so at least i dont have anything to worry about, not that id need to coz im sure DP could handle it but just for my own peace of mind id like him to be asleep before i go :)
-
Krystals glad you survived a busy week, the chiro has made a huge difference with will, his shoulder was very tender from when he got stuck at birth.
Elise glad your dh is home for a bit, the days when nothing stops the crying are hard.
Lou you didn't fail sleep school, Will just knows he prefers to sleep at night.
Will had his needles he was really grumpy and hot yesterday so he had panadol. He also had a checkup with the pead, he is only averaging 80g a week need to get closer to 200. So I have to top up with formula if I can't get enough ebm.
Out to dinner to surprise a friend tonight. MIL is watching the kids, she is a natural, it's all very easy for her so I can go and relax for a few hours.
-
haha thank girls! i know we didnt fail really! its just funny to say!
Krystals i think we posted at the same time, sorry to hear you are funning around with all the appointments, it must be tiring? well done you two. Getting needles is never fun, poor DS cried but was soon comforted with some grub!
Elise good to hear that MIL helps out and great that DH is back for now to give you a bit of help, ive just given DH a bottle of EBM so i can have a bit of me time, plus i havent taken my herbs or had much to drink so i feel my supply is dropping.
BRHave fun tonight, i love suprises, how old was Will getting his needles? i know he is older than our Will who got them done Monday. did you have to top up with either of the girls? have you tried the smoothy?
Well we went to SS yesterday to help with DS to settle to sleep without being on the boob or being carried all the time, he wont even let me put him down asleep, always wakes as his head touches the cot!! so yesterday he did not sleep all day until the MW carried him and he slept! they have refered me to the 4 day stay! not sure if i will go TBH as i dont really want to change what is happening at night (currently slept the last two weeks 9/10pm till 5/6am straight) with teh odd sleep of 20 to 40 min in the day on me. and usually happy boy and well fed! lol he feeds every two hours or so during the day. he put on 1.1KG in the last month weigh in. so i dont really know what to do, sure i would love him to 'go down' without me once or twice so i can get some washing done or have lunch, currently i have to do this when he is awake but that is taking time away that i have to play with him
woo he just polished off 140ml! and still hungry! Porker
-
Will was 8.5 weeks for his needles, I had to fit them around all our other appointments and go on a day when it was just him. I had to top up both girls, it's a battle for us to keep the weight on. I havent tried the smoothie yet, have the ingredients too though, my supply seems to be dropping too.
If you and Will are coping I wouldn't change his routine, all three of mine have been the same and i would rather have a longer sleep at night than have had them sleeping during the day. The mchn tried to get me to book into sleep school last time but u refused to go.
-
hi girls,
i'll quickly reply to br and reply to others later today, we have a house full of sicklings.
br - im doing a traditional indian mix:
1/2 tsp of all of these:
ginger or ginger pwd
turmeric
cumin
fennel seeds
fenugreek
lightly crush the spices.
bring to boil abt 200ml of water and add all the ingredients.
let it boil till it's reduced to half.
then have it as it is or with milk and sugar. you can have it 2-3 times a week
it's done my supply heaps good this time. i had to top up w lakshman the first time.
-
Thanks prama!! I was taking fenugreek tablets but just ran out today. I will go and get the spices tomorrow from my local green grocer tomorrow.
I have just had the smoothie so will let you know how that goes. I am trying to keep my water up and express more often again.
I know stressing about it will make it worse but it's hard not to worry when Will has been starving and needed the formula.
-
br - hugs i hope they all help. i also am taking some herbal ayurvedic stuff and that's also helping.
i know how you feel, Lakshman wasn't gaining a lot of weight and was in the 10 percentile and i had to bf, express and top up w formula. it's very exhausting mentally, physically and emotionally. i used to feel i failed him and taht's why he's small. he's in the 25 percentile now but it's still hard. a lot of kids are bigger than him.
i hope Will puts on more weight soon, you are doing all the right things, it's hard too when your energy's also spent looking after 2 other kids.
thinking of you, hun.. big hugs
xoxox
i will write more, im really crook have picked up the kids' colds. bugger
-
Hi girls. How are you all? Geez, I keep forgetting to come in here and see how everyone is, I guess because most of us are on Facebook, I tend to keep up with it all on there..
Hope you are all well, and all those beautiful babies too. Miss Molly is becoming extremely clingy.. I have never had this before. Even her dad can't console her, its to the point that if she can't hear my voice, she gets upset, and if other people pick her up... :wall:
She was crying so much last night when I finally gave her to her dad so i could enjoy a nice big bubble bath, so he brought her in and she saw me and heard me and was ok, so she ended up joining me in the bath and then started chatting away and smiling.... hmm... I can see this is going to be a problem...
Well, have a great day, I am trying to get some housework done before she wakes up. She loves the vacuum cleaner sound, it soothes her... strangely, and I have just turned it off... i have to put it on sometimes till she falls asleep :p
-
Black rose- it's hard for me to imagine the frustration of Will not putting on weight- Jack is in the 95th percentile for height and weight...but I'm thinking of you, if your girls had difficulty as well, does that mean that they're just little bubs? Obviously I'm ignorant to it all!!
Melly- Jack is starting to be a bit mummy's boyish as well, I think it must be the time they realise that we belong to them! The hard thing for my hubby at the moment is that Jack will be smiling, laughing and chatting with me, but as soon as hubby joins in, Jack will look confused (he furrows his brow) and looks at him like a weirdo. I feel terrible for him! BUT at the same time, he's not doing any feeds at the moment (i think the novelty has worn off- more on that in a second) and hasn't given him a bath for about a week either. Basically he's done a few nappies and put him to bed. Which helps ME out, but isn't great bonding time for them.
On the feeding- I've had to throw out over 300ml of EBM!!!! So annoyed. I'd been pumping everyday so that hubby could do the 7am feeds each day- it's before he goes to work and a good chance for them to spend a good hour together without me interferring while I look at the inside of my eyelids. Last week I couldn't pump for a couple of days as we've had a gazillion appts, so I got out some frozen milk for them. Then hubby says "I'll pay you $50 if you do this feed" (haven't seen the $$$$ by the way!!! ) then he wasn't home the next day, so I had to throw that lot out. So I defrosted more... then he was sick and just couldn't  get out of bed...then THAT lot got thrown out... then this morning, he'd had his earplugs in, and just groaned when I got up to get Jack out of his cot... so ANOTHER lot gets thrown out, unless he can feed Jack this afternoon sometime. I can't feed it to him, as Jack won't take a bottle from me- why would he when he gets the good stuff??? LOL. Anyway, I know it's not the end of the world, but it is pretty annoying.
What do you think about boys having dolls? I found the cutest little baby doll in Big W that is not girly at all, put it in the trolley, and when we got to the checkout it had mysteriously disappeared. It has ribbons for hair and everything!!! I'm buying it next time I'm in there!!!!
-
Krystals had to reply just read this
BUY THE DOLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My boys have always had dolls and prams and stuff!!!! Hubby will get over it :-))))))))))
We only just got barbie dolls in the house since DD turned 2 and the boys play with them too SOMETIMES!!! I would not say often but sometimes! It does not worry me what they play with, the only thing i actually HATE is toy guns etc. thats a different story and everyone is different!!!
-
Krystals I hear what you are saying on the expressed stuff.. but .. Molly wont even try a bottle now, she has one suck, then spits the dummy... i have had milk in the fridge that i have expressed and tried to get her to take it from dad.. NOOOOO..... tried to take it from me NOOOOO... so i dont know what to do.. and Molly does the same thing.. chats away with me, then dad comes along, and she isn't interested.. he is really worried, but i keep telling him, until he gets boobs, then that is how things will go, she is just so clingy... its enough to get me to google it!!!
-
Oh yeah.. the doll.. I forgot. Buy it.. who cares, who says dolls are for girls? I used to play with cars, and is that wrong? Do what you want to do, I dont like how we try to push kids to like BOY stuff for boys and GIRL stuff for girls.. who says that girls should only like dolls....
-
Get the doll!! We have trains and cars at the moment, its all the rage at daycare so it's what they want at home too.
Thanks for the support girls, going to try prama's recipe and if it doesn't help I will talk to the gp about medication as I want to bf longer if u can, especially if Will has allergies.
Melly Jess never took bottles either until she weaned, age just grabbed her sisters bottle one day and never bf'd again at about 8 months.
-
br - i used to take motilium with lakshman, my gp prescribed it.
krystals - what heartbreak.. so much milk.... next time dh is sick, can you tie the bottle around his neck and use a stick to prop up his arm to give it to Jack?? 300 ml is so much. DH should give you 300 bucks instead of 50! ;)
get the doll!! nothing wrong with it.
mell - i didnt play with dolls, only boys stuff as I had an older brother, i wonder if Githanjali will be the same. I like dollies/teddy bears/stuffed toys, but not barbies, bratz etc.
-
Prama hi there, when I was growing up, I was a real tom boy too.. always climbing trees, riding my BMX bike :p
-
Krystals that is heartbreaking that you lost the milk, you must have been really mad! What we do when I have ebm in the freezer is defrost it in hot water and use it straight away. It's what we did in the scn, you don't waste it that way.
-
hehe mel - yes i was such a tomboy too. playing my brother and his friends. i still love cars and sci-fi etc.
krystals - if you defrost in the fridge you can keep it there for a day, if im not mistaken. then warm up when you are absolutely certain that dh is going to feed. do not warm up in the microwave as it kills all the nutrients.
-
Why is it that when you want bubs to be awake they just keep sleeping. I told a girlfriend we will come up for lunch when Brody wakes up and hes been asleep for 2 hours, this never happens when we dont have to be anywhere and i want him to sleep hehe. Oh well might just be a late lunch, although i am starving
Brody didnt sleep well at all last night, not upset or crying or anything just wanting to be awake more often he went to bed at 7 then woke at 11.30, 3.30, 6.30, 8.15. Little monkey didnt want to let me have any sleep. I think he may be having a growth spurt though coz he has been feeding more often through the day and also sleeping more through the day so who knows. Hes getting weighed this arvo so cant wait to see what he weighs now :)
Hope you are all doing really well.
Sorry for no persies, really should be doing housework while hes sleeping hehe.
Take care
-
Elise the always know don't they! It happened to me this morning I had an early dr's appointment and all three slept in.
Some of you may have read on fb yesterday that I was in a car accident yesterday with Will and Jess in the car. I was lucky to not kill the girl who caused it, she stopped in the middle of a major road and I had nowhere to go, I managed to avoid her drivers door and hit the back of the ute and knocked over a sign post on the street I tried to turn onto. An Ambo was behind us and he checked on us, I was worried about the kids but Will slept and Jess ate her lunch!
I am sore this afternoon so I will go to the chiro tomorrow and also have my massage from mothers day.
We are taking it easy today, Will is chilling out watching his big sister play with her trains.
-
BR that is terrible, so glad to hear that you, jess & will are all ok. Enjoy your chiro and massage, i think you deserve it.
Brody is sleeping so well again today in his cot, i think we have it sorted. Just have to get the night time sleeping sorted now :)
-
omg br - that's so scary.... so glad you are all ok. thank god.
what the hell was the girl stopped in the middle of the road??!
elise - yaay for him sleeping in his cot! slowly but surely :D
-
Prama she had to stop because of another car, so she should never have crossed, stupid p plater!!!!
Ps your recipe seems to have worked wonders, I expressed 150ml this morning instead of 50 even after a stressful day yesterday.
-
Evening all, it seems very quiet in here again, everyone must be super busy with there little bundles of joy :)
BR good to hear the recipe seems to have work, that will be good to have the extra milk
Loula how are you hun? Havent seen you online for a while. I hope your enjoying time with your little man :)
Melly, krystals, Prama, LMK :hello:
Well im just waiting for Brody to wake up, hes been asleep for nearly 3 hours so it will be interesting to see what tonight brings. Hopefully what people have said will be true 'sleep promotes sleep' I sure hope so. We are actually going to try some farax in his bottle tonight. Mum suggested maybe hes just hungry and thats why hes not sleeping long at night?? I know hes still a bit young but i dont think it can hurt. Mum said she done it with us and were all fine hehe
-
Hi ladies
Just a quick one tonight as i am tired!!! Jack had his 8week needles and was great, he now weighs 6.945kg WOW what a chuuby bubby!!!!! He is getting so big. He is sleeping perfectly he goes to sleep between 8 and 9 and wakes only once between 4 and 5am for a feed and then sleeps till we have to go to school !!! Can't complain.
Elise i can't really remember but you are bottle feeding hey? What formula are you using cause i have heard that some formulas are thicker and more filing then others, so i would be talking to maybe the chemist or something about a thicker formula.
BR i am glad you are all ok and it must of been really scary!!!! Hope you feel better soon!!
Sorry just a quick on Hi to everyone else hope all is well with you and your bubs
Talk soon XXOO
-
omg BR - i hope you continue to have heaps of milk!!! OMG! i'm so happy it's worked.. Hurray!!!!!! Fantastic. I;m so over the moon. Try to have it 2 or 3 times a week.
elise - fantastic sleeping and i hope you are too!!! xoxox. the problem w bf is that when they sleep long, boobs get too full and painful, so i never get to sleep long. you enjoy this long sleep-in!
LMK - wow, that's fantastic weight!! he must be over the 97%
time for beddy byes. almost the weekend.. yaay.
i can't believe that come monday, Githanjali will be 10 weeks and on double digits!!
she so full of smiles now, almost laughing if she can. she says "ah-boo" and loves it when I say it back to her, she thinks it's hilarious!!!
-
Prama yes he is over the 97% i worry a little about that but i know that my first DS was teh same weight at this age!!!!!
-
im sure they will grow up fine, when they start getting mobile, their weight sorts itself out. as long as they are active, they'll be fine...
i worry about my kids cos they are at the bottom 25%. but i guess, kids will be as big or small as they can be. as long as they are healthy and eating the right things and doing lots of outdoorsy stuff, they'll be ok.
-
I know my DS1 is now a slim build and as soon as he started getting mobile he thinned out. I worry cause i have a stupid Dr who says silly things to make me worry. I don't over feed him and its not like i can starve him for a few days or anything, he is not going to feed if he is not hungry. And i can't exactly get him on the treadmill or anything LOL!!!!! Honestly i think that every baby is different i have had 2 chubby bubbies and 2 average babies, just depends on the baby!!! As long as they are healthy that is all that matters.
-
yup, very true.. and the growth charts are just indicators and every child is different. and i have to remember that my kids are half caucasian and half indian, so i cannot compare with other kids. a bit hard when other mums compare, though. it gets very disheartening. i used to feel like a failure with Lakshman. and if the growth charts are based on caucasian babies, then it's hard to match..
-
Hi all
BR hope you and the children are feeling better after your accident. I also read that DD was sick in DH car :(
Elise great day sleep you lucky thing. GL tonight
LMK DS weight sounds fine. The charts really are another tool to get us stressing. At least you know that your other DS was the same. Sorry if I'm asking again you are only bfing ? I've heard you can never over feed a bf baby but my DS is stacking it on too. As is his mummy :-(
Krystals. I hope your not too busy with appointments and that jack is doing well with physo. Enjoy your weekend
Prama I'm going to try your drink too. Sounds great if it made a difference to BR in one day wow.
Melly. Hope all is good in your world.
Well I'm having a feel sorry for myself moment. Ate 12 large cookies tonight and now feel like ****! DS is still not day sleeping well and is do tired in the evenings. He finally went to sleep tonight then his nappy leaked!!
I've been on at dh since we got home that he needs to take more care when doing DS nappy's And tonight just as he goes to sleep he gets a leak and wakes again. We have been trying to get him down since 7pm. He is finally asleep again now but tossing and turning :(
I hate that I don't fit into any of my clothes but feel I need to start watching myself. I was bulimic for several years and I don't want to get into that cycle again. I need to be stronger.
Going for coffee tomorrow x
-
Hi ladies!
Black rose- wow....how scary!!! Glad you and the kids are ok- hope the chiro sorted out your back- so glad you're all alright.
LMK- Wow! Jack is bigger than my Jack! He's in the 95 % as well..
back in a sec, we've both got colds and bubba needs a cuddle x
-
Lou I am much better today after seeing the chiro and having a massage. Still get shivers thinking about what could have happened, dh and I were talking about it. Dint know why dd threw up I think it was the light in her eyes, making her feel carsick we came home had a shower and she went to daycare, her choice.
You should give prama's mix a try let me know if you need to know where to get the fenugreek.
Enjoy your coffee we will have to catch up, maybe next week?
LMK glad to here it's all going well, I would love a baby in the 97th percentile! Dd1 was off the bottom of the charts, she got into the 25th at age 2. Dd2 is in the 50th at 18 months and Will is around the 50th but dropping down.
Will had a check up and he put on 260grams in a week so he needs the formula top up and any ebm I can give him.
-
br 260 a week is good isnt it. they say a min of 150g. Lakshman was always at the bottom and even w comp feed never got big. even now he's smaller, slimmer and shorter than other kids his age. Githanjali at this age is bigger/taller than he was. so i feel guilty for this too.
i know exactly what you mean about having a bub in the 97 percentile... :(
loula - you could try a mums and bubs exercise class, it's great exercise and gets you out and meeting other mums. and the babies socialise too.
-
Prama our goal is 200 a week but the pead would be happy with 150 so 260 is a bonus. He is averaging 60 a week but hopefully we can keep it up. Forgot to add before that I know how you feel with the sore boobs, will slept for 9 hours last night but I was too sore to sleep.
